Jack decides he needs a bit of time away from family to mourn the loss of his one sided friendship with Vlad and Vlad's death. So he takes a trip to Gotham. On this trip, he runs into Damian and Tim, who are convinced he's Captain Marvel in disguise.
Meanwhile, Jason's also run into Jack as he's coming into his ghost powers. Jason starts freaking out because someone just saw him when his new powers started glitching. Panicking only worsens the situation as now he can't figure out how to get his foot un-caught in the cement.
Jack, despite not knowing if this kid is a halfa or not, decides to give him advice based on how Danny told him his powers work. It works.
Now, Jason has a sort-of mentor that he didn't ask for but definitely needs, and Jack has something to do while he sorts out his feelings on the whole Vlad-was-never-his-friend thing.
Eventually, Damian and Tim catch them while Jack is trying to explain how Jason might have a second form. While Jack explains, Jason just transforms. His ghost form isn't what either expected. Jack was expecting something similar to Danny's or Vlad's. Not a winged little kid with a mask.
To be honest, this just solidifies that this guy is Captain Marvel for Damian and Tim. Obviously he decided to teach Jason magic.

Steve was pacing back and forth; he didn't know what to do. He thought it was wrong to do what he wanted to do, but it was also the first time in his life that he felt something like that. He was even starting to avoid you; maybe if he didn't see you, those feelings would go away.
You realized that Steve was in his office; it was now or never; you were going to clear things up; you understood that sometimes it was difficult for him; everything was exaggeratedly different from his time.
“Steve," you called out to him and immediately kissed him.
“No, wait, this isn't right," he whispered when they broke apart.
“Why not? “you questioned.
“I'm too old for you."
“You're less than thirty; it's not that much of a difference...
“I'm almost a hundred," he corrected you.
“The time you were on the ice doesn't count; you couldn't even live through it," you replied.
“I don't know..."
“Steve, I know you like me and I like you; for once, try to live," you asked.
Steve nodded slowly. You were right; life had given him another chance; it was time for him to take it and do everything he hadn't been able to do. Now that the age difference seemed insignificant, you were probably right; it was just a number.

Can I get a Fun Fact about Captain America?
I, uh.... [fishing around in Fun Fact bag] hm....I don't have a lot about Captain America in here, but I'm sure I can find something...
Hope I haven't written about this before, but here goes: Today You Learned about Captain America's birthplace!
"Wait, Jurakan, what are you talking about? I know where Captain America is from. Everyone does! Steve Rogers is from Brooklyn!"
Yeah, uh... okay, so in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we see in Captain America: The First Avenger that Steve Rogers is from Brooklyn. He says as much in dialogue later in the movie, and it comes up more than once in the following movies. Naturally, the people of Brooklyn take great pride in their icon. In 2016, in honor of the character's 75th anniversary, a bronze statue was commissioned and put in Brooklyn, though it's moved around a bit: right now it's in front of the Brooklyn Bed, Bath & Beyond:
Which is pretty darn neat! Except, uh... Steve's not from Brooklyn.
Okay, yes, the MCU version is, but the original comic book character? The one this statue is supposedly celebrating? Yeah, no, he's not from Brooklyn. He's explicitly from Lower East Side. That's in part because that's where one of his co-creators, Jack Kirby, is from.
Almost no one talks about this, though, because the movies are the big things that people remember in culture. I think it's possible that the Ultimate version is also from Brooklyn? I'd need to double-check that, though.
In any case, one of the guys on Tor (now Reactor Mag), Keith R.A. Candido, the one who writes the Superhero Rewatch reviews, has strong opinions on the relocation of Steve Rogers's birth.

I totally understand your rage quitting now, although it's exactly the opposite for me! I was *very* into the Asgardian storyline in MCU and I hated Ragnarok with a passion - and the fandom sure made certain I knew everybody who didn't like the movie was an Idiot. Then IW and EG happened and killed all my joy for the MCU. I kinda sorta look at it without flinching nowadays, but it took somewhere around 5 years...
I think I know more people who went MCU --> Star Wars than the other way around! Weird couple of years for both fandoms. I'm a little bit of a weird outlier because I got back into Marvel well after Endgame, but a lot of what people criticize about the MCU is what I find interesting (the puzzle piece aspect). I am well aware that if I'd been consistently in Marvel since 2014 (which is when I drifted off) I'd probably have had the same rage reaction as like...everyone else I know.
I guess it's been a minute and my SW history isn't common knowledge to people who weren't around here between 2013-2021, so the lingering fury is probably confusing to people who only know me from the MCU. I was big into Star Wars from 2013-2021, from 2013-2015 on the PT/TCW side, then from 2014-2021 on the Rebels side (there's crossover), though I was also familiar with...everything. I have forgotten more about Star Wars than your average SW fan has ever known. (I was also in and out from 2007-2013, which is when some of my earlier fic like Oxygen and Rust dates from, but this is a period of time when my big fandom was actually Narnia) I'm quote-unquote "known" for Wake the Storm and Queen's Gambit in the PT/TCW, which have very consistently garnered negative responses since Wake started in 2013, and On the Edge of the Devil's Backbone in Rebels; I also used to do liveblogs of TCW and Rebels and the comics, for a while, so some of those posts are still floating around. I had a very, very bad breakup with a close fandom friend in 2016. I bounced off the ST, had an extremely negative reaction to Rebels S4 (to this day I have refused to do a full reaction post because I hated it so much I can't think about it coherently, and there were years where I couldn't think about it without spiraling), was okay with Resistance, R1, and Solo, hated Mando, hated TCW S7, hated the comics, hated the High Republic, and was still grimly hanging onto the fandom in utter misery in 2021 when the combination of hating TBB's sheer mediocrity (and the way they retconned Rebels) and the first episode of Loki hitting all of my favorite tropes like a fucking train finally knocked me out of Star Wars, to the extreme relief of everyone who knew me.
to this day I have fannish friends (who I met through Star Wars!) ready to stage an intervention if I ever seem even vaguely interested in getting back into Star Wars. I am the only person I know who looked at the Marvel fandom post-Endgame (and the Loki subfandom at any point in time, but especially while the show was airing) and went "this seems like a nice soothing place to immigrate to!" and honestly it is, people aren't as crazy anymore as they were around CW and Endgame. (Except in the Loki subfandom, which has made even me go "hmm. that's a bit much," but then I remember the egg genocide and you guys are fine, actually.)
very amusingly I actually speed-ran the Rebels experience with the Loki show -- really liked the first half, really disliked the second half -- but by that point I'd already gotten back into the rest of the MCU. I hadn't had a dramatic MCU breakup at all; I'd kept up with the films from 2008-2014 (CATWS was the last one I saw in order), but I just hadn't gotten around to seeing more than three odd ones out between 2014 and 2021 (Ragnarok, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and then I saw WandaVision early in 2021). I fandom osmosed some weird stuff that turned out not to be true.
anyway for those that don't know, that's the short version of my sordid Star Wars history! also sorry, you didn't actually, uh, ask for this.
#re rebels#however badly you think i reacted to it i assure you i reacted considerably worse#every day I know less about what's going on in sw and that's great#though I still know a fair amount because it's not like I cut ties with most people#for example: I refuse to even watch the ahsoka show's trailers but I've seen stills and stuff because I'm still in cosplay groups#and unfortunately even thinking about it makes me black out in rage which is not healthy#I do still go on the occasional star wars rant but I try to keep it down to once every couple of weeks#did one a couple of days ago#my entire fannish experience these days is geared towards not replicating my sw experience so I'm VERY cautious with marvel#I need to go back to my star wars destash#situation's still bad#I've got serious money collectibles that thinking about dealing with is exhausting#darth canthre#bedlam replies

What are some of your favorite books/arcs in comics?
Hello there :D you sent this the same day as that fav books ask I answered last week, so sorry for taking so long to get to this I then ALSO got the ask for beginner friendly comics and basically this is a long time coming here are a few of my favorite comics and graphic novels ever, including some repetitions from the beginner friendly ask lmao
So for Deadpool I have said this a million times and I will say this again: the 2012 run by Posehn and Duggan is fucking GOD. It's funny and witty and a little gory like any good wade comic yes, but it's also got so much heart and I love the cast and it brought in Ellie who's just fucking EVERYTHING to me. I'm also enjoying the current run of Deadpool by Alyssa Wong like no run of Deadpool since, and if you're looking for a run of marvel comics to pick up right now oh my God start there for real
Obviously another favorite is Spider Gwen - mostly the original Radioactive Spider-Gwen, but Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider and Ghost Spider are also really good, just not quite as solid and unfortunately the story told in them gets cut off and has yet to be continued. Obviously Spider-Gwen has been a solid 15% of my personality over the past year and I literally lectured on what it has to say on the main 616 universe but I just love earth-65's versions of Gwen, Captain Stacy, Harry Osborn, Emjay, and Matt Murdock (Murderdock my beloved) soooo fucking much like everyone in this cast is fucking amazing!!! If you let me talk about Spider Gwen I probably won't shut up
Anyway another one of my favorite books is Spider Men: Worlds Collide. It collects Spider Men and Spider Men II, and it focuses on two team ups between Peter and Miles, one back when they lived in separate universes and the other after the Ultimate universe got ixnayed and Miles was transported to 616. I actually prefer Spider Men II overall, I think it's a great story and it has one of best bi!peter panels imho, but both stories are great and very recommended.
Still with Marvel, if you haven't read the 2014 Scarlet Witch run by James Robinson, oh my God you're missing out. Every issue is drawn by the a different artist, except for the last issue which is drawn by the same artist as the first, which really works cause it happened right after the magneto-isn't-her-dad retcon so she's searching for her identity. The writing is gorgeous and all of the artists do an amazing job. I showed a panel to my niece once and she hasn't shut up about it for a year, it's that pretty. So it's worth reading for the art alone, I cannot emphasize this enough, but I love the story and the use of Agatha too.
I also love love love love LOVE Alias. Can we talk about how good Alias is? I feel like people don't talk about how good Alias is enough. Like I said in my beginner's rec post, it deals with really heavy stuff, but it does it with such gravitas! I love the noir feel, I love the way the art reflects what's going on with Jessica, I love the flashbacks, I love Jessica/Luke, like everything about it is amazing.
Moving onto DC, we have to mention Watchmen since it's the first comic I ever read. Is it good? ... Like I said with the question of is it beginner friendly, I have no idea. But you asked for my favorites, and as the first comic I ever read it holds a real place in my heart. A lot of it still haunts me, honestly. Say what you will on the dark age of comic books and what it led to later, I love it.
And then ofc there's Under the Red Hood. Do I even have to say it? My obsession with Jason is as easily observed as my obsessions with Wade Wilson or any version of Gwen Stacy. This story is iconic, it's so well written, I love the art, it's fucking heartbreaking. My guys I love this story so goddamn much.
I haven't read nearly as much Superman as I'd like to - I'm working on it don't you worry - but I recently read the Death of Superman trilogy and the third book in particular, The Return of Superman - also called The Reign of the Supermen in some editions I believe - is soooooo good. I actually almost sent in a lecture just about this book instead of my lecture about Smallville, but ultimately I have more to say on Smallville so I went with that, but still. Guys, the different Supermen here, the things they represent, not to mention just how fucking great Kon is in his first appearance and how much I sympathize with Lois here - there's so much to love about this. Plus I love late '80s and '90s Superman art, there's something about that specific time period's art style that I just find hits exactly in the right spot.
Batwoman: Elegy!!! Greg Rucka my beloved <3 honestly I'm still mad I hadn't read this before I did my og comic book lecture on the Jewish nature of the medium, it's so good at representing all the ideas I was trying to put into words, but also the art and the narrative and the character it's trying to introduce all make such an impression, it's so fucking good.
Moving onto indie comics, we have to talk buffy comics. I have read a lot of buffy comics. Not even close to all of them, I fell off the wagon somewhere around mid season nine and only purchased a bit of season ten, but I still have a certain affection in my heart for season eight, since I found all of it in the second hand booth at my first ever con. I also think Angel: After the Fall is fucking excellent.
This is already too long so I'll just life a few more things here - Nimona and Lumberjanes - ND Stevenson, my guys, like they just do it every time. Giant days, paper girls, also great indie comics. There's a graphic novel called witchy I really love - I recently realized there's a vol 2 and I desperately need to read it, I genuinely just thought it ended on a cliffhanger forever.
Finally, maybe this doesn't belong on this list at all, but Maus. I feel like Maus should be required reading for every adult on the face of the earth. Obviously as a Jewish person it's particularly affecting for me, but I don't think it's a coincidence there was a recent banning of the book. It's incredibly impactful and in our times of rising antisemitism it is incredibly important as well. Do yourself a favor and read it.
Okay well that was certainly a list! Everyone, feel free to let me know how you feel about any of these or if you're planning on reading them. And thanks for asking!

Finally watched Avengers Endgame
Having not seen any marvel films for a while, I have to say they are pretty well done. I didn't notice any gaping plot issues, except perhaps for the question of why they couldn't snap Tony back after it all, but maybe they explained that, idk. I'm fine with his death though. Bookends the series.
I actually loved Thor going through an emotional crisis and just needing to talk to his mom. Been there. That will cure pretty much anything.
I never liked this version of captain america. I know, I know that's like, anathema or something, apparently. I kept waiting for him to turn to dust at the end of inifinity war, but alas. But he was watchable.
I actually had no problem with just leaving half the universe dead, which is why I didn't watch Endgame until extreme boredom this weekend. I liked the boldness of Infinity War and was uninterested in just reversing the whole thing.
It's interesting though that this is a 'bringing back' without making it as if it never happened.
I wish I liked Captain Marvel because that whole thing would have been super cool if I did. I know what she's going for, but unfortunately she just comes across as a dismissive 'i'm way better than you' person. Other characters also adopt that kind of persona, but we see the gaping vulnerabilities beneath. They know they're effed up inside and we see them putting on a front. With Marvel I get no front.
People slammed the chick in Dial of Destiny as the same kind of thing, but she had layers. The parts she was covering were clearly there. Not the movie's fault if people didn't see them.
I thought they did pretty good with handling her overpowered...ness in the plot though.
The shot with all the women was just like... Stop thinking women want this. Stop thinking we want forced moments. Just make interesting, complex characters and have them be people. You weirdos.
Some stuff with the dudes was forced too. Again I have opposite taste. ('avengers...assemble'. universe cheers, i roll my eyes in the back of the theater)
Loved the scene with Tony and his dad. There's one kind of forced line I would have cut, but other than that.
I liked the movie taking its time with emotional payoffs to character arcs. Long movie, but it's the end of the story, so. Send it off properly.
I think Scott was actually my favorite thing. Normal guy with no baggage from the last five years just wants to eat his taco.

Here we go again! This is version 3.0 of my list. This is January 27. I got a little bit behind. New since last time: Wolverine #38, Iron Man #11, 12, 13, 14, Uncanny Avengers #3, 4, 5, Ms. Marvel #3, 4, X-Men #28, 29, 30, Fall, Rise.
I don't think any ordering at this point can be perfect, but here's An Order.
Iron Man #7
Avengers/X-Men FCBD 2023
Hellfire Gala 2023
Iron Man #8
Iron Man #9
X-Men #25
Uncanny Avengers #1
Uncanny Avengers #2
Ms. Marvel - The New Mutant #1
X-Men #26
Iron Man #10
Ms. Marvel - The New Mutant #2
X-Men #27
Wolverine #38
Iron Man #11
X-Men #28
Uncanny Avengers #3
Iron Man #12
Ms. Marvel - The New Mutant #3
Ms. Marvel - The New Mutant #4
Iron Man #13
Uncanny Avengers #4
Uncanny Avengers #5
X-Men #29
X-Men #30
Iron Man #14
Fall of the House of X
Rise of the Powers of X
I'm putting Wolverine #38 and Iron Man #11 at the end of the most recent list (right after X-Men #27), because in both of them, it's been a while; Krakoa has been looted. And also Carol's in her brand-new outfit, which should make this current to the brand-new Captain Marvel run (not part of this event).
No idea where Uncanny Avengers #3 goes except it's clearly after Fisk has started putting up a lot of money so I'm just putting it in release order. Same for 4. 5 is back to back with 4.
I'm putting IM #12 between Uncanny 3 and 4, even though it came out the week after 4, because 4 ends on a cliffhanger and I feel like we can reasonably assume some downtime between 3 and 4. I'm also putting IM #13 before UA #4; it doesn't take place immediately after #12 so I am putting a couple comics between them.
Adding Ms. Marvel 3 & 4, because, why the hell not, you can watch her fight a Sentinel. They clearly take place back to back, so I'm putting them back to back. I'm putting them before Uncanny 4, solely because I think Kamala would have learned the identity of Captain Krakoa if it had already happened.
Uncanny Avengers actually introduces a bunch of continuity problems, because Wolverine #38 probably happens sometime after X-Men #27, as I said, but that also means it's happened after UA2, in which Steve has broken his arm -- and we don't see Steve with a broken arm in anywhere but Uncanny Avengers itself. Plus, nothing other than UA makes reference to the Captain Krakoa reveal, and I kind of feel like Steve might be bringing that up.
I just started stacking the most recent X-Men issues at the end; X-Men #30 and IM #14 have some overlap on the plot with Tony and Firestar, so definitely those happen very, very close together.
Fall of the House of X has an editorial box that says it's referencing Iron Man #14-16, and not all of those are out yet, so currently we have some stuff happening with regard to the fight against the Sentinels, without knowing exactly what has set that up.
Rise of the Powers of X is... who even knows when that happens. The future. A future.
So we're starting to get into some continuity issues and Comic Time shenanigans, and at this point you probably might as well be reading these in release order because I don't think anything is going to make perfect sense.
Also, as I am writing this (January 27), Marvel has just this week released a Hellfire Gala trade; in addition to several issues not relevant to this list, it contains the FCBD issue, Hellfire Gala, and Iron Man #8 -- so if you basically want the "what Steve and Tony are doing on the night of the Hellfire Gala" reading experience, that would be this collection.
Fall of X (Steve/Tony Edition)
For anyone else who is a comics Steve/Tony fan who doesn't usually read X-Men comics and is now finding themselves needing to wade through the Fall of X, this is everything I have found that's out now (or coming out very soon) in the order you should read it, that pertains to Steve and/or Tony. This is accurate as of today (September 16); we are obviously not done with the event so this list will not stay accurate, but if you want to hop on now, this is how you'd do it.
Iron Man #7
Avengers/X-Men FCBD 2023
Hellfire Gala 2023
Iron Man #8
Iron Man #9
X-Men #25
Uncanny Avengers #1
X-Men #26
(Uncanny Avengers #2 when it comes out, Sept. 20)
(Iron Man #10 when it comes out, Sept. 27)
(Iron Man #7 is not technically part of this but it does have some lead-up with a subplot involving Rhodey and Feilong. I am assuming you are all reading Iron Man anyway.)
I am also not a regular X-Men reader so it's possible that I've missed some stuff, but this is everything that has Steve and/or Tony or is directly relevant to them that I have found. So this isn't the entire event, but if you're just trying to get through Iron Man comics there are definitely some comics that you want to read.
I mention this because it might not be entirely obvious to anyone just trying to read through Iron Man that there are crucial events in the Free Comic Book Day issue that was released months ago. But there are. And I would like to save everyone else the trouble of getting halfway through Hellfire Gala and wondering why all of a sudden someone has been trying to assassinate Captain America off-panel and thinking that, wow, I really must have missed something somewhere. Which was the experience I had. So, yeah. That was actually depicted in the FCBD 2023 issue. Surprise!
(The most necessary part of the ordering, for our purposes, is Avengers/X-Men FCBD, Hellfire, and then Iron Man #8. There are several important events that we see from various points of view throughout these issues, which all take place on the same night, in that order. Iron Man #8 also assumes you have read Iron Man #182 but I feel like probably everyone has done this.)
Tony is on the main team (although the main Avengers book is not part of the Fall of X event); Steve is currently leading the Uncanny Avengers, which is part of the event. Both Steve and Tony actually appear together briefly in both X-Men #25 and Uncanny Avengers #1 as part of the meetings the remaining resistance is holding against Orchis. I don't know if Tony will be in this week's Uncanny Avengers #2. He wasn't in the preview and he isn't in the character list on the recap page, but that was also the case for both X-Men #25 and Uncanny Avengers #1. I think the character lists only cover the team members in this particular series.
I have reordered a couple of issues from the order they were released in. Uncanny Avengers #1 was released the week before Iron Man #9 but it has to happen in the opposite order. IM #9 takes place the night of the Gala and on into the next day; it picks up immediately after #8 and resolves the cliffhanger there. UA #1, even though it came out before this, takes place weeks after the Gala, as established in the issue. Judging by the preview, UA #2 will (at least partially) take place immediately after UA #1 but as it hasn't come out yet, I can't say for sure.
Similarly, since Iron Man #9 is right after #8, I've put X-Men #25 after that, since it also takes place weeks after the Gala, even though it came out before IM #9. I might end up moving Uncanny Avengers around some more later as well, but this works for now.
X-Men #26 is the X-Men half of the wedding issue along with Iron Man #10. The IM half isn't out yet, so we'll see what happens there.

Hey, so this is almost a confession, to see if other Marvel fans feel this way.
I'm honestly exhausted how many Marvel fans shoe-horned Peter Parker in everything. EVERYTHING.
Any cosplay ("oh spiderman should duet this"), any creator that puts a headcannon about two characters ("what about this character and Peter"), any Avengers Family fanfic...
Like, I'm sorry, but I cannot be the only one that don't think that Peter fits?! Not even in the MCU he's close to Tony (not that we see), he doesn't have contact with any other Avenger... Why keep forcing Peter Parker with the rest of the Avengers when he's an independent hero???
I understand what you mean. Peter Parker in the MCU shouldnt fit with the rest of the Avengers at all because of his age and his status as a street level hero (except marvel circumvented that when they made him WANT to be an Avenger)
But you also have to see that Spiderman as a character from the comics is more popular than any other, including Ironman, Captain America and any of the x-men. So it's natural that they want to include him, especially if his envolvement in their story makes sense. Because even if he is an independent hero, he teams up with the Avengers plenty of times, is even an Avenger himself in the comics.
I dont particularly like all the Avengers family fics where Peter's adopted by Tony after May dies either, because most of the times, the writers and readers are more about Tony than Peter and just fit him into the mold of being Tony Starks son. But you also have to understand that people have loved Spiderman and read his comics for decades so of course they'd want to cosplay him. If they take MCU!Peter and make him more like the comics version, then I honestly think they'll probably come up with a better story than the actual movie has. And if they've only started liking him after Homecoming and only know this version of him, that's unfortunate because they are missing so much but it doesnt mean their love for him is cheap in any way.
It's super annoying when fans take one aspect of a character and practically make it their whole personality (like Clint and his depression/clumsiness/coffee drinking). And it's super nanoying when they take a character and erase the personality so they can fit into the story (like kid fics of peter and irondad). But I dont really see how cosplaying and including him with the other Avengers is inherently bad, sorry.
#like if i got you wrong please just say so#i feel like there has been a misunderstanding#spider-man#marvel#comics#anon asks

Welcome to the last part of my mini series about the Qmx Star Trek figures.
Qmx launched in 2016 a series of high-quality action figures to celebrate the 50th anniversary of TOS. I am lucky to own a little collection of them and introduce them to you.
From the first time I watched TOS, I was crazy about one pointy eared scientist. I was a little girl and always sat totally confused in front of the TV, puzzling why all the weekly changing and barely dressed Ladies (almost) always ignored the most handsome half human being I've ever seen and looked instead at this honey blonde guy beside him. Today, decades later, I know that this was the concept of the show and the honey blonde guy who got at least in the show the majority of the female attention, represented the classical hero.
I'm sure you already know who the honey blonde guy is I'm talking about:
Today we will boldly got to complete the holy trinity of Star Trek with the amazing Captain James T. Kirk. Sorry but I had to put him in such a heroic pose.
The gentleman you see in front of his box is the re-issue version of Kirk that Qmx released quite lately.
I don't own first issue Kirk because I became aware of this marvelous figures very late in 2017 or so and only bought Spock and later Bones. So I was very delighted to hear that Qmx would do a re-issue of Kirk and Spock.
So without any further due, let's check out our favorite Star Fleet Captain and start with his box.
From the release of Scotty on, they changed the design of the boxes. On the right you see first release Spock's box as a reference, because first release Kirk's box looks the same.
I like this first release boxes especially because they open and close like a book, very unboxing friendly. The new boxes show a picture of the figure on the front and slide open and close. And, as I already mentioned in another review, I'd like it better if they kept one design for all but it is as it is, so let us have a look at the most important thing: the figure itself.
Re-issue Kirk has a good quality body with a very good articulation that allows him to strike very lifelike poses just like his first release crew mates. Although when I hold Kirk and Spock in my hands I have the feeling Spock's body is slightly heavier.
Coming to his uniform, from the release of Scotty on, Qmx improved the fit of the shirts.
Kirk's shirt is better fitted than those of his two favorite senior officers and also the sleeves are a bit longer, good to hide joints in dynamic poses.
And of course, just like first issue Kirk, re-issue Kirk has a soft little pad around the tummy area sewn into the underwear - yes, I'm not kidding, to make this figure as accurate as possible to the real captain, he has a tummy.
The pants of all gentlemen are similar to each other and also the boots seem very similar to me although I heard that some people say the boots of the re-issued version would be glossier.
The insignia on the chest are quite identical except for Kirk's appear slightly bigger (so slightly that it is not really visible in this picture).
Looking at the insignia on the sleeves instead you will notice a big difference. While Bones and Spock's look very detailed and dimensional, re-issue Kirk's look more like painted on the cuff. But they are accurate for each of the gentlemen's different ranks.
You may also notice that re-issue Kirk's relaxed hands are different from Spock and Bones, but I will come to the hands later and continue with Kirk's accessories first:
A Captain has not only very curious officers but also a lot of paperwork to do! Or let's better say: virtual paperwork.
Yes, Kirk comes with the kind of tablet he sometimes used in the show, mainly in the early episodes if I remember correctly.
To me it's a funny piece, I just think it would look better if the pad would show something and not be blank.
Apart from this pad and pen, Kirk comes with a Communicator and Phaser as well as hands to hold this accessories and a very funny pointing hand as well as a hand to knock down somebody annoying.
Re-issue Kirk is only available with this accessories. First issue Kirk instead was available as a standard version just with the same accessories and as an exclusive version that included a Phaser Riffle. However I don't remember if he ever used this in the show, I just remember it from some early promo pictures.
Kirk's relaxed hands are just like Scotty's a bit out of scale compared to the hands of the first issue figures. But it is not too bad.
They still put a lot of love to the detail into thise figures, they gave Kirk his (in?)famous little tummy and even considered the height of the real actors. Just like in the show, Kirk is shorter than his Vulcan First Officer.
And the head sculpt is a real master piece from the lifelike eyes to the kind of slightly smirking facial expression that is very character like IMO.
There you have all the gentlemen together and ready to boldly go where no action figure has gone before!
If you are interested in the review of the other gentlemen, you can find it here.

The helicopter hovered over the New York skyline, Brock watched through the window, but his mind was elsewhere. He was thinking of you. The one who had changed his life in ways he had never imagined.
After months of missions together, the two of you had grown closer. Evenings turned into moments of intimate conversations, shared glances amid operations, and finally, stolen kisses on the sly. They were in love.
One night, while you were watching your favorite show, Steve unexpectedly appeared at the door.
“We need to talk," said Steve. I found out something about Rumlow.
“What are you talking about, Steve? “you asked.
“Brock is part of HYDRA," Steve blurted out bluntly. I found out about him on a recent mission. I'm sorry, but I had to tell you.
It didn't take you by surprise, you had already figured it out, so before Steve could continue, you stepped forward.
“If you breathe a word about this, Steve, I swear I will reveal all your secrets," you said firmly. I will tarnish your image. You don't know what I'm capable of.
Steve was stunned. He hadn't expected such a reaction from you. He had thought you would be on his side, although now he also wondered how you knew his secrets.
“You can't protect him, you know what HYDRA stands for," Steve tried to reason.
“I mean it, Steve," you replied.
“This doesn't change anything," he said. "But I won't say anything... for now. "
Steve turned around and left the apartment, after a few minutes Brock came out of the room, he had heard everything.
“I'm sorry," he muttered. "I didn't want you to find out like this. "
“It doesn't matter," you replied, "I love you, and that's all that matters to me. "

Did you ever read the Infinity Countdown: Captain Marvel oneshot? I just did and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I had not read it and now I have and what. WHAT.
For those who aren’t familiar: for crossover event reasons, Carol has the Reality Gem, which gives the wielder the power to alter the laws of reality and (in this canon) access all other versions of reality. This offers wide scope for a multiverse-spanning oneshot story in which Carol encounters multiple versions of herself and other Captain Marvels (Captains Marvel?) while grappling with the immense power of the gem. Perfectly solid premise. So far so good.
But what could drive Carol to risk tapping the gem’s powers, as dangerous as they are? An imminent disaster? A terrible tragedy?
In the process of successfully and non-lethally subduing a dangerous supervillain, Carol causes property damage and alarms a half dozen civilians. In cape comics, this is what we call a quiet Tuesday, but here we’re expected to see it as an utter catastrophe. People are afraid of Carol! Instead of applauding and cheering for her, they are fleeing in panic! Clearly this points to Carol’s utter failure as a superhero and as a human being, and is in no way a natural reaction to two heavy objects hurtling from the sky and slamming into the middle of a road!
Carol completely drops her bundle and spirals into questioning every decision she has ever made, which prompts her to recklessly and frivolously use the Reality Gem to scour every other AU for clues as to where she went wrong with her life.
In Earth-669, she finds a world where Civil War II ended differently. You remember Civil War II, that universally beloved masterpiece of character fiction turned Carol into a raging fascist poised to tear apart innocent lives on a single precog’s say-so? I know I’m sure thrilled to be reminded of it!
Well, in this reality she also became a raging fascist, before experiencing such an abrupt change of heart that everyone around her interpreted her poorly-expressed olive branch as a renewed assault. Instead of putting Tony in a coma, 669-Carol is the one who ended up comatose.
616-Carol wails and cries self-pityingly. Yes, her actions led to people dying and being grievously wounded and having their lives ruined, but she was also a victim! Because she... became unpopular. Everybody was sooooo mad at her, you guys! They treated her like she’d killed Tony, even though he was still alive and she didn’t mean it and anyway he’s find now so it’s totally okay. HER LIFE IS SO HARD.
Next stop: Earth-10774, which is broadly the same as the House of M reality, where Carol (as Ms Marvel) was Earth’s premier hero. Except that in this universe, the Marvel mantle belongs to Monica, who is beloved, while 10774-Carol is a pitiable alcoholic who sleeps in the gutter.
“No. That’s not right at all!” wails Carol, who still doesn’t appear to understand the concept of an infinite multiverse. “I knew how hard Tony fought his alcoholism, so I got help!” Which is a weird way of phrasing it and kind of implies that Carol’s sobriety is entirely Tony’s doing.
In Earth-9289, things veer into the incomprehensible. Carol meets a version of Rogue who, unlike in Earth-616, absorbed “all of [Carol] -- powers, personality, feelings”. Except... that is literally what happened in 616 continuity.
I think the idea is supposed to be that, whereas in 616 Carol and Rogue were both ultimately able to reclaim their identities and recover, in 9289 their identities and powers became inextricably entwined, resulting in a hybrid Carol/Rogue persona... or possibly some kind of body swap situation, because for some reason there are two of them here?? I've read the page several times and I can’t figure it out at all.
Moving on to Earth-70875, 616-Carol muses that she was “trained ... by the best”, referring to Mar-Vell, who -- while he was her friend and love interest -- absolutely did nothing to train her. When Carol met Mar-Vell, she was already a highly trained military officer. The only thing she got from him were (inadvertently) her powers, which she learned to use by her damn self.
Anyway, in this universe, Carol had the Nega-Bands instead of Rick Jones and she sacrificed herself to save Mar-Vell or something. Whatever.
Carol has some trite revelation about defining her own reality, returns to Earth-616, beats the bad guy again and decides to accept all the choices she’s made.
She concludes that she now understands how devastatingly dangerous the Reality Gem could be if it fell into the wrong hands, because they could use “information” from other universes to make “choices”, which, I’m sorry, bullshit.
This gem is supposed to be capable of tying the laws of physics in knots and moulding reality like putty, which is a chilling power in any hands. This comic reduces it to a window into the multiverse, a kind of hall of Mirrors of Erised that’s dangerous mainly to the wielder, who risks becoming consumed by second-guessing their own choices and longing for a world that’s not their own.
Yes, there’s a fleeting detail about Carol using a piece of advice from an alternate Captain Marvel to defeat a villain in her own universe, but it’s hardly a terrifying demonstration of the gem’s power. We could have had Carol punching through the walls of the multiverse, pulling an army of alternate Captain Marvels into Earth-616 to thwart a cosmic threat before exiling the villains to a desolate universe. We could have had her dipping into the gem’s reality-warping powers to counteract a villain, with frightening consequences.
Instead we got... ‘Woe, woe! My life is terrible! Tell me, Magic 8-Ball, where did I go wrong?! ... What’s that? It could be worse? Gee, thanks, 8-Ball! I guess I know myself a bit better now! But I can’t help but wonder: what would a villain do with this terrifying power of... INFORMATION?’

To illustrate better here is all Marvel characters that are single and only have platonic relationships with someone of the opposite sex.
I already talked a lot about what I think about them so let's move on.
Again, I was glad that they didn't make Valkyrie and Thor get together, and although Thor was single during Ragnarok we now know about Love and Thunder and Jane's return and it's obviously they will address their previous relationship even if they don't end together.
I also know a lot may argue about Valkyrie queerness as one of the reasons they didn't pair them, but don't forget she's bi so it wouldn't invalidate anything.
And in any case Tessa Thompson talked about how they deleted a scene where a woman leaves her room, so with that not only her sexuality is still undefined for the general audience (and we know how everyone assume people are straight until otherwise is proved) but also we were given another poc character treated like a sexless being.
If you don't know or remember who this guy is I won't blame you because although he's in some versions of the Black Widow poster he has less than 4 minutes of screen time.
So yeah, definitely not enough to build any romantic relationship so I can't say I'm disappointed that they didn't got together, and just like Captain Marvel it's refreshing a story when the female lead doesn't crave to be with a man, especially in Natasha's case because of her history of sexualization on previous appearances (even though they kinda suggest because apparently they need to make Natasha flirting with every man she interacts with).
Oh, his name is Rick Mason by the way, and let's be honest that he's more a token who is sleeping half of his secreen time than anything.
Look, I don't consider Peter and Gamora an interracial couple so if you don't want to consider Drax and Mantis an interracial platonic friendship I think you can, but in my opinion they are different cases.
Differently than Zoe Saldana, Gamora isn't black, and once the character skin color is something that doesn't exist in real life it can be anyone of any color under the makeup. Of course her facial traits are still there but is not something everyone easily notices or recognizes as something from a non white person.
The same can't be said about Pom Klementieff's character. Mantis has the same skin color of the actress and even if it hasn't the facial traits of asian people are very distinguish.
The fact that we have a scene of Drax almost throwing up sick just with the idea of being together with a woman that's clearly asian doesn't appeal to me (I wouldn't like this scene no matter the the person they are making fun of but being an asian woman just makes everything worse in my opinion).
I obviously won’t pretend that we don’t have a platonic relationship between two white people and I love their friendship but I think is safe to say that between all the ones I mentioned Steve and Nat are the most shipped.
And it's absolutely fine to ship them, especially considering how much they flirt on the Winter Soldier movie making it a lot easier to picture them together.
For the record, I personally don't shipp any of them, so it's not like I'm frustrate that they didn't get together nor that I think that they should, but look at the pattern. With the exception of SteveNat and two aliens (if you want to see them only in this way) all the platonic relationships have at least one poc and I think that says a lot.
I'm not saying it's done on purpose because it's probably not, but that doesn't make any better because just shows a racism rooted in all of our society and the lack of interest and commitment of the ones who work at Marvel to fight that and how the small amount of representativity we got until now was just so they could say they done it and not because they care.
Now that I watched Shang Chi it got clear to me that when the character isn't white Marvel/Disney doesn't bother to give them an official romantic partner.
I thought it was great that they didn't forced a relationship between Shang and Katy, and (considering that tfatws writers are insisting that Sambucky isn't canon) I confess I didn't miss a romantic plot for Sam, because it's ok not to have one, there are more important topics the story needs to address.
What infuriates me is the proportion, because we already don't have enough poc relevant characters or heroes and within the ones we have only T'Challa and Okoye has an official romantic partner.
Rhodes and Nick Fury are present since phase one and they didn't bother to even briefly mention that they have a wife or something like they gave to Hawkeye and that cop in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Luis from Ant-Man can't have a girlfriend but Darcy from Thor can date her intern. Maria Rambeau has a daughter but she's obviously a single mother, and Monica Rambeau when an adult is too busy with her work to thought about dating.
The Dora Milaje are treated more as a weapon than people so I don't know if is even fair to expect romance for them.
Sarah Wilson is also a single mother but in her case she's a widow and she's the luckiest one of this squad and got flirted twice.
No I haven't forgot about MJ, Spiderman's romantic partner. I really love this couple and I absolute worship Zendaya but I think is important to note she's a light skin person and the fact that Michelle and Peter are the only interracial couple in the mcu speaks a lot about colorism.
Before watching Captain Marvel and tfatws I thought they would pair up Carol with Nick and Sam with Sharon, and after I watched I was glad they didn't, but now wonder why they didn't.
For sure Carol doesn't need a romantic plot, and a story about a woman that doesn't revolves around a man and or love it's actually refreshing, but I can't help wonder if it would continue not having romance if the people around her (the ones who are not aliens) were white, and I dare to say that at the very minimum would be much more people shipping it on internet.
As for Sam and Sharon they barely interact so it would be really weird and like I said before they had more important things to deal with, I get that, but the thing is that every hero has a lot to deal with, but if the hero is a white man, Marvel always finds a way to still add romance to their story.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the majority of the couples from the mcu. Tony and Pepper, Steve and Peggy, Peter and Gamora, Wanda and Vision and a lot of others which the relationship with it's partner are important to their development.
But then there's couples like Steve and Sharon, Bruce and Natasha and more recently Loki and Sylvie that are so poorly developed and came out of nowhere making it seems that Marvel desperately needs to pair those characters when is actually really unnecessary.
Every time someone suggest two characters of the same sex may be a couple Marvel screams at our faces that is platonic, but they only remember that this word can also describe relationships between people of opposite sexes if one of the character is not white.

@goat-yells-at-everything comics don't belong to you you absolute, pathetic idiot :)) I've been a comics fan for ten years and I've been in love with Marvel and DC since I was 8 years old because of their fantastic TV shows.
I can see ALL THE BULLSHIT as a long time fan of these comics. You, on the other hand, ARE the bullshit.
You know what's invasive? Porn in comics sold to children as well as adults. Graphic sexual art of somebody like Starfire, whose most prominent pop culture presence has been in a children's show, whose comic wasn't even a pornographic, mature content one.
As for you, @siryouarebeingmocked you completely ignore the fact that the artist of that particular spider woman splash page is AN EROTIC ARTIST WHO MAKES PORNOGRAPHIC ART so if you think he doesn't inject eroticism into his works you're either blind, stupid, or both. He literally did the art for the Desire story in a Sandman feature. DESIRE: THE MOST SEXUAL CHARACTER IN COMICS, THE PERSONIFICATION OF SEXUALITY AND HUMAN DESIRE. He was chosen for that. Because his works are generally sexually charged. This is a fact you'd know if, well, you were a REAL comics fan, as you'd call it.
Which I'm not sure you knew, since you seem to have as much comics knowledge as the tip of my left finger.
Also that photo is clearly not the same as the art. The art looks like a failed anatomy class attempt at what the photo looks like. The anatomy is completely wrong, and sad for a supposed career artist. I should know: I am a career artist. The proportions suck, the pose is unrealistic and the angles are all wrong. The shoulder is too far down, the ass tilted up in a way that is both not practical and not human, and the angle of the ass and the way the suit clings to it is wrong, unless her suit goes up her anal cavity. Any artist could tell you the same; one look at the side by side comparison could tell you the same.
As for their personality, well, I never denied they had it. I just wonder if you'll be singing the same tune if you were told this is how Captain America is gonna be drawn from now on
He'll still have his personality. It'll go with his contoured dick and nipples. It's not objectifying if he has a personality and story.
Right?
The Wonder Woman art is fine. She's got the proportions of somebody who's strong and her pose is just cutesy. It's not strongly sexual despite her outfit showing thigh. It just looks silly, but cute.
If you want a real example of what it looks like to have pornographic comic art of male characters, look for Kevin Wada's series of naked Bucky Barnes in bondage and briefs. Or find those gay bara versions of Marvel superheroes. Or for that matter, all them Nightwing ass shots that focus on and emphasize his shiny, shapely behind. Now that's a real comic book equivalent to unnecessary sexed up fanservice.
Here's a good example:
Hips out, pose impractical, pretty face, pouty expression, and the lines of his shapely legs lead the eye to the contour of his dick. He's not even undressed, but you can tell the artist is a gay man who thinks Bucky is pretty and deserves to be shown off pretty. His pose isn't indicative of strength, but maximises showing off his attractiveness.
Now for bondage Bucky and underwear Bucky
How about an in comics example?
Legs for days and your eyes are again led to the ass.
There's literally no excuse for this one except the the artist wanted a good crotch shot. At least this one is more anatomically correct, but it's still clearly an objectifying pose.
If it doesn't make you uncomfortable, it's a false equivalent. If it doesn't make you want to fuck the guy, or give you the impression that the artist wants to fuck the guy, it's a false equivalent. If the photo isn't focused on his ass, his nipples, his chest, his crotch, it's not the same. If the POV of the artist doesn't allow you a clear view of their sexy bits, it's not the same. If he isn't posed in a way you'd see parodied in the Hawkeye Initiative, or posed like he belongs in a Japanese gay porn comic, it's not the same. If he looks like he's ready to fight, in poses with clenched fists and like he's about to throw down, it's not the same. He has to look ready to fuck, not ready to fight. That's how you know it's the same as those ridiculously sexual pieces fans always complain about.
If you had two brain cells to rub together you'd understand that.
Also @jimfear138 idk if you know this, but representation is the reason Marvel was created. Or did the Nazi punching anti Racist LGBT positive anti gun violence propaganda of decades of Marvel escape your notice? How about the feminist sex positive love hero created by a polyamorous triad that stars in DC's best film since Nolan's work?
Comics are being killed because they aren't accessible to new readers and constantly create big events that kill smaller storylines. And people are able to buy Indies easier now online. It's not hard to figure that out.
Comics weren't created for pissy man children who are angry they aren't the biggest audience being catered to anymore. And with the way the industry grows and changes there's bound to be disappointment. I left DC after New 52 and Marvel after they decided to kill my favourite series and characters. It's not the end of the world and it's not the end of comics. You can blame whoever you want but it's not like comics haven't done stupid things for money before. It's always been that way. That hasn't changed.
When comic book fanboys get mad at people pointing out the really ridiculous objectification of women in comics and argue that it’s their creative freedom to draw what they want, I’m like
Listen
It’s not the fact that these female characters are being drawn like unrealistic sex dolls where their defining features are a pair of oversized boobs balanced on an ass at the end of a beanstalk that isn’t anywhere near what a spine actually looks like
It’s the fact that this is done to a popular superhero comic distributed to everybody
You want to draw sex dolls masquerading as women, do it in erotic comics. Porn, even. Do it where objectification is expected, bad proportions are forgivable and the audience is open to it.
Doing it in a comic about young adult superheroes or in comics distributed to a wide audience is just bad taste.
Especially when a certain quality of art is expected. Somebody who knows what human proportions actually look like.
There wasn’t as big a fuss kicked up about DC Bombshells because the premise actually told people to expect sexy women in certain states of (tasteful) undress, and the artist made the characters look like ACTUAL WOMEN with idealistically beautiful sexy bodies as opposed to freaks of nature beanstalk people growing boobs and ass cheeks
It’s fine to draw objectifying art when the medium calls for it. Otherwise you’re just disrespecting people by airing your porn to people who aren’t looking for it, without forewarning. That’s the issue.
