@shinkai-kaiju
what's funny about one piece is that for all that it takes place on a strange world filled with weird and silly looking characters, they do take their pirating and politics very very seriously and every big confrontation involving one of the big players of this world always has massive worldwide repercussions, but our protagonist is literally just anime bugs bunny and doesn't give a shit about any of that. the essence of this series is really the juxtaposition between the importance of the situations luffy finds himself in VS how little mind he actually pays to them. it's like this image as a 1000+ episode show

How OP men would react after finding out you have an aggressive stalker || Shanks and King
some maritime terms I used
Tumblr media
"This is my fault," you mumble, looking morosely at the charred remains of the ship's cargo and the apron.
"What?" Shanks asked incredulously.
Tears came to your eyes as you confessed that you've had a stalker, Charles, for several years. Charles had forced you into a life of piracy just to escape his unwanted and increasingly violent advances after he burnt your house down.
Shanks felt breathless, he had had no idea that you went through anything so horrid. To him, you had always been so cheery and carefree. "Wait, didn't you say your pet died in a house fire?" He mumbled. You nodded your head, avoiding eye contact with your captain. Rage filled Shanks's chest, not only had this bastard, Charles, burnt the only cargo the crew could afford at the moment, but he had hurt your pet and forced you into a dangerous profession just to escape him. Shanks put his anger aside because he could see you were clearly scared of this man. "What's he look like, Love?" He asked as he tucked a knuckle under your chin and tilted your head to look at him.
After you gave Shanks your stalker's wanted poster, he assigned Benn to stay by your side, just in case your stalker came back. Meanwhile, Shanks and the rest of the crew combed the island for Charles. They eventually found him holed up in a sea cave only a mile south of the harbor, where the crew grouped up and descended upon him. Rockstar and Yassop threw Charles at Shanks's feet while he thrashed and yelled, "Leave me alone, you bastards!"
Shanks leaned down from the rock he was sitting on, grabbed a fistful of the stalker's hair, pulled him up to his face, and quietly growled. "Do you know who I am?"
Charles curled his lip in mock disgust and sneered, "Someone in desperate need of a breath mint." His retort earned him a swift punch to the jaw from Shanks, who reiterated his question. "Do you know who I am?"
"Red Haired Shanks," Charles submitted, going limp on the ground, "An emperor of the sea."
"Uh huh, that's right, and it seems you've been giving my crew mate, and good friend, a hard time." Shanks replied, "And I'm here to put a stop to that."
Charles lunged at Shanks and screamed, "They're mine! Not yours! I will have them even if it's the last thing I do!"
After easily batting away Charles's hand, Shanks hummed, "Is that so?" as he pulled his sword out of its sheath.
Shanks returned later that night with enough Berry to replace the cargo and still have enough left over to give you a month's worth of your usual pay.

It was the Fire festival again, which meant all the Beast pirates, from near and far, flocked to Wano to party at Kaido's place. While most of the crew loved this time, you did not love it, because it meant he'd be there. The Wano's minister of commerce, Yukimaru, was one of Orochi's entourage and your stalker. He always got way too grabby with you for your liking. You thankfully only saw him a few times a year, mostly for work.
"You don't look happy," King noted.
You glanced up at him and grumbled, "You usually don't have a problem with my unhappiness, you delight in it, in fact."
King fiddled with his cuff links and huffed, "I only delight in the unhappiness I cause."
"Good to know," you chuckle.
King crouched down to look you in the eye, and said, "I am concerned because everyone loves the fire festival, even I kind of like it. But you seem too eager to return to your room tonight, which isn't like you because you are normally more excited about parties than I am. Something must be bothering you, so spill it so we can party."
You sighed and told him about your problems with Yukimaru, even confiding in him about how Yukimaru had cornered you and ripped your shirt before last month's finance meeting.
"So the rumors are true, then," King muttered to himself, rubbing his chin and explaining, "I heard a few of the servants talking, one of them claimed Yukimaru was pursuing someone, who was rejecting his advances. Another servant claimed that when Yukimaru heard of this person's whereabouts, he'd always race there to meet them, even if they didn't want to see him. One of them even claimed that Yukimaru has a reputation for violence and coercion in the Red-Light District." He hummed for a moment, before turning to the Mary next to him and ordering her to tell Yukimaru to meet the two of you in his office.
"Why would you do that? I just told you I didn't want to see him!" You snap, outraged that he'd tell your stalker where you were.
"Unfortunately I can't kill him based on your word alone, so I'm setting a trap, now wait while I hide in the closet. When he comes and misbehaves, I'll stab him." King clarified, before tucking his wings behind him as he wedged himself into the wardrobe behind his desk.
Shortly after, you heard Yukimaru thundering down the hallway. Each footstep filled you with dread because the man terrified you. A moment later, the door slid open and Yukimaru self stepped inside. Yukimaru was a head shorter than King, and a great deal taller than you. He gave you a toothy grin, and said, "There you are, I've been looking for you. The Mary said King was here." Sauntering towards you, his sharp eyes devoured you.
"... He stepped out for a minute." You replied, trying to resist the urge to run for the door as Yukimaru plopped down on the couch beside you. Your will remained strong until he put his arm over your shoulders, without thinking you bolted for the door, only to be pinned down to the floor by the large man. "Where do you think you're going? I just got here, why don't we play together while we wait for your boss to come back?" Yukimaru trailed his fingertips along your shirt for a brief moment before his body was ripped away from yours with a swift kick from King. He pointed his sword at Yukimaru's chest and said, "Go enjoy your party while I deal with this trash."

Oh Sweet Child of Mine (Luffy AU End)
The Main series presumes platonic feelings all around. This is specifically an end shipping the reader with Yandere Luffy.
Because I didn't get clarification on what the original requestor (an anon) wanted, I assumed romantic but no smut.
Oh! Slight spoilers for Gear 5 and Wano.
Warnings: General yandere vibes and... technically kidnapping. Fluff.
You know the drill about yandere behavior in real life.
Stay safe and have fun!
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1,205
You’d heard about Wano a lot over the past few years. Even before officially becoming a pirate you’d heard about the country in lockdown and it’s many fanciful resources and history. About Kaido and Oden. It seems… strange to be in it now.
Celebrating it’s liberation that you helped only a little, the bulk being taken care of by Luffy, Law, and Kid. Mostly you’d been helping Marco and Ace run interference and patching up those that needed help.
The idea that Luffy—Straw Hat Luffy—took down Kaido, King of the Beasts, was strange. But you’d seen it with your own eyes (from a safe distance) and it was a sight to behold. Gear 5, as Luffy called it, something else as well. Finally falling into sync with the true potential of his devil fruit though he’d still need to work at it.
Oyaji had organized a large feast for the occasion, incredibly happy that his brother had been avenged at long last. Thatch and Sanji working together to provide an incredible array of food alongside the now free citizens. The two chefs getting along well as they traded recipes and ideas as they worked. And honestly, it took all their attention to ensure that there was enough food for everyone—even Ace and Luffy who ate enough on a regular basis to astound literal giants.
Wrapped in bandages and as lively as ever, Luffy crowed to Ace at every opportunity that he beat out his big brother for liberating Wano. Ace would, naturally, pause with a mouthful of food to wrestle his brother into the ground for his insolence. Sabo—unexpectedly a third brother—cutting in every so often when they got too rowdy.
After eating dirt and a hunk of meat bigger than your head, Luffy paused, eyes fixing on you as he grinned.
“Hey! Join my crew!”
Your brothers choked and coughed beside you, several cackling at the audacity and muttering about Akagami being a bad influence. You smiled wryly, flashing your right wrist where Oyaji’s mark was boldly inked in a light blue.
“I’m already apart of another crew, Luffy.” You reminded him and he pouted.
“You said to ask you again when I found the drums! I did! It’s in Gear 5!”
Ah. You did say that, didn’t you?
Marco threw his arm over your shoulder, his smile a bit wry and sharp for the occasion.
“You’re getting a little bold there after taking down one Yonko, you really think you’re ready to take on another?” Marco asked. Luffy huffed, Ace watching him with an amused grin.
“It’s not about your dad! It’s about them! And I want them on my crew!” Luffy protested. Marco narrowed his eyes.
“Oi. You making plans for their devil fruit? You really think we’ll just give them up because you said so?”
Luffy frowned, confused as he tilted his head.
“What’s their fruit got anything to do with it? They’d make a good fit for my crew and that’s that.” You smiled, chuckling a little as Luffy looked right at you. “I don’t mind that you’re part of Banana-Stache’s crew right now. I just want to be the Pirate King with you.”
You blinked in surprise.
“You’re bold, Straw Hat.” You muttered, taking a sip of your drink. “Why would I leave Oyaji to go with you?”
Luffy huffed, brows scrunching as he tried to think of how to phrase his reasoning.
“I wanted you to join my crew when we first met but you weren’t ready yet. Not to join anyone’s crew. But now you are!” Luffy whined, nose crinkling. “And my crew is strong enough now that no one would need your fruit anyway…”
Ace laughed, shoving down Luffy’s head and ruffling his hat roughly.
“You’re such a persistent shit, Lu! C’mon, what’s the real reason you want them on your crew? I know it’s not their fruit—and they are pretty great—but what’s your real aim here?” Ace demanded loudly.
Luffy smacked Ace’s hands away with a cry of complaint.
“I wanna take them on an adventure they’ll never forget! With my whole crew! I want to show them everything! Anything they want to see!” Luffy declared, much to the shock of everyone there. Ace looked stunned, lips twitching into a smile as he narrowed his eyes at his little brother. “I want to give them the world!”
“Y-You… you sound like you’ve got a crush?!” Ace breathed in disbelief.
Luffy paused, almost as surprised as everyone else. Wide eyes turning to you as you could almost see the gears turning in his head.
The air grew heavy as your crew started to grow restless and a little unhappy with the new possible revelation.
Then, just as suddenly, it stopped, Luffy sitting up with a relaxed smile.
“Huh. Yeah.” Luffy looked at Ace with a wide grin. “I guess I do, shishishishishi~!”
There was an immediate outcry of denial around you, Marco pulling you behind him as you heard the offended gasps around you.
A stretchy limb snaked around the bodies between you and pulled you through the crowd until you stumbled into Luffy. Eager and laughing loudly, he hugged you, much to the protest of your crew.
The drums of liberation in your ear as you reeled in shock.
That was… really unexpected.
“You’re a cocky brat Straw Hat!” Oyaji declared with a sharp smile. “Do you really think you could make them take back my mark? That I’d let you?”
Luffy pulled back from nuzzling your cheek, grinning over your shoulder.
“I wouldn’t make them get rid of your mark, old man! Your family!” Luffy lowered his voice, hand reaching down to press his thumb over the thundering pulse in your left wrist. “I’d want your left hand anyway.”
You gasped, face red at the implications.
“WHAT! WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO THEM?!” Ace screamed, reaching over to try and pry Luffy off of you. Luffy cackled, wrapping his arms around you in tight circles as he danced away. Keeping you firmly pressed against his chest.
“Don’t worry, Ace! You’re invited!”
“Invited to WHAT?! Luffy!” Ace screeched chasing after you both as you laughed hysterically, unsure of what to say to that. Sabo joined shortly, the two brothers chasing after as Luffy just kept laughing louder and louder, hair turning puffy and white as he rounded the bonfire in mad circles.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” You huffed, a little breathless from laughing so hard. Luffy literally lit up, his smile wide and beaming with light.
“Hear that?! I’m cute!” Luffy declared happily.
“You can’t go with him just because he’s cute!”
“I thought we raised you better than that!”
“Stop corrupting them, you brat!”
“Bluebird, no!”
“That’s it! You’re grounded! Again!”
You laughed, hugging Luffy back as he launched himself into the sky, Zoro and Sanji covering his escape.
“I’m glad you’re ready for me now. I don’t think I could have waited much longer to take you with me.” Luffy admitted, eyes a bright, glowing red. He squeezed you a little harder, the threat clear.
You… don’t think you were going back to the Moby Dick after this. No matter how hard your crew protested.

Thank fucking god one piece tumblr is mostly a safe space because holy shit twitter is hell. These people bitching and moaning about Luffy laughing and being happy in G5 (AGAIN) saying it “ruins the story”
DO YOU MOTHERFUCKERS EVEN READ THE STORY? HE IS JOY. BOY. HE BRINGS JOY AND LAUGHTER TO THE PEOPLE THROUGH FREEDOM. DO YOU THINK HES JUST GONNA POP OFF ALL SERIOUS IN THIS FORM?
Luffy it at his freest in G5. He is overflowing with happiness as he uses his abilities to save and protect people. Why wouldn’t he be happy? We already had many arcs where Luffy was serious and even distraught when he couldn’t protect those he cared about. Those days are over and he now has the strength he always wanted. Let him be fucking happy. If you want to be miserable go read pre-TS and cry.
Now let’s be real. If you had all the powers in the world wouldn’t you do some wacky shit? I would be causing chaos and fucking around with anyone I could because it’s FUN. The Kaido fight had me smiling at my tv like a stupid idiot. I felt like I was a kid again watching Looney Tunes again (which I grew up on and loved dearly) Maybe these zoomer fucks have just never watched a cartoon in their life because their heads are too buried in their ipads or playing fortnite . Or flip side these people are just sad, lonely millennials and genx who are so dead inside they forgot what it’s like to be silly and joyful.
Also, the final island is called LAUGHtale. Rodger, King of the Pirates LAUGHED when he found the one piece. This whole beautiful decades spanning tale is ground in LAUGHTER. Don’t try to sully that just because you haven’t laughed in years and you hate your family and dead end job. Let others be happy. Try and be happy yourself. Go ahead, just laugh until you cry. You will be amazed at how good it makes you feel.
Yes I am mean, no I do not care. I am in my high tower of happiness and laughter enjoying life and my favorite series. If you want to be miserable and serious go watch/read jjk and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. We don’t need you and Oda doesn’t either ✌🏼
me laughing at the haters:

hold on babe i need to hyperfixate on kubosai headcannons before i do my homeworks and go to sleep
They love cooking for each other and often insist on making breakfast/lunch/dinner/etc.
They would have a whole section of their room of bookshelves with the books they like to read together.
They would doodle on eachother a lot when they're bored in class. (teachers would think its absolutely adorable but Kusuo thinks it's really hard to wash off since the ink gets on his gloves)
Aren has a whole sketchbook of his drawings but it consists mostly of Kusuo.
Kusuo likes to wear lavender colored clothes because it reminds him of his boyfriend.
Aren daydreams a lot about his pink-haired lover and said lover gets immediately flustered about the thoughts Aren has about him.
Kusuo goes to Arens house to sleep over a lot. He also goes there sometimes for no reason at all, but mostly when Kuniharu is whining at Kusuo.
Kusuo teaches Aren recipes for baking and they bake a lot.
Aren likes to take Kusuo on motorcycle rides and Kusuo enjoys going on them.
Their snarky attitudes to one another causes people to think they're fighting but that's just them being funny and silly with each other.
Kusuo likes to spoil Aren rotten. Aren does too. It's just a whole fiasco of them spoiling each other.
They would always sit beside each other at lunch in school. Sometimes, when they're done eating, they cuddle a lot or they're just mooning over the other. People get very jealous of their relationship.
Kaido daydreams about a whole wedding going on between his right and left hand.
Nendo thinks its funny to pick Kusuo up like a sack of potatoes and speed to who knows where while Aren runs after them around the whole place.
One time, some people were gossiping about Aren and saying shit spreading rumors about him and Kusuo made sure no one ever saw that group of people ever again. People said they transferred schools. (Yea they probably didn't)
Takahashi and his gang were doing shit to Kusuo at gym so Aren beat 'em up after school and they never did anything to him again.
Kusuo has a habit of fixing Arens wrinkled clothes, mostly his collar.
"What the hell do you mean I can't say 'fuck you' to my boyfriend and make out with him afterwards?"
Kusuo is already embarrassed about the way he and Aren are affectionate in public but he just can't help himself either.
Kusuo loves caressing Arens hair, he brushes his fingers through it regularly. Aren loves the free massages he gets from it.
Aren has a tendency to nuzzle Kusuos neck, he bites it frequently too. Kusuo gets annoyed. Aren also gets annoyed cus he can't understand why he's able to bite an all-powerful psychic but can't leave any damn hickeys.
They both just LOVE physical affection. They enjoy hugging, body on body, just even holding hands makes them feel happy, CUDDLES.
"Please, PLEASE, let me kill your dad." both of them say.
They hate each others dads but they talk and keep it to themselves cus respect.
Whereas, they love each others moms, the dads are just complete assholes so.
They tend to have a make out session after having a bad fight. Or any fight at all.
Aren associates Kusuo with strawberries.
Anytime they see a color of purple or pink, they think of each other. Kusuo ignores the Toritsuka purple and always tries to find Arens shade.
Kusuo loves Aren.
Aren loves Kusuo.
They love eachother very much.
Kusuo hates Arens nicknames for him, he gets really fussy about it, Aren thinks it's cute and continues to tease him with various other nicknames.
Kusuo calls Aren handsome a lot. Even more in private.
Their way of saying sorry to each other is touch. They cuddle a lot, kiss a lot, and beat some assholes out of the way.
POWER COUPLE POWER COUPLE POWER COUPLE BRRRTTTT SHWOOOM ZWEEEE
Aren not only associates Kusuo with fruits, he also think of Kusuo as a really cute bunny. Make him mad and that bunny turns into a hawk who'll pick you up from the ground as a worm and eat you up. Omnomnom bitch.
Kusuo pampers Aren a lot, Aren just accepts it but he pampers him back too. Back massages do a lot of good when he uses his strength on his boyfriends back.
Aren holds Kusuos face cus its really soft and plushy. One time he does the "cus you're my whole word" pick up line and Kusuo cringes, laughs, and gets really embarrassed about it. Aren thinks it is the most adorable thing ever.
They love making each other smile.
Kusuo sometimes suffocate when Aren hugs him with his face in Arens chest while they sleep. It's okay tho, cus.. like... this mans tits are huge... and he's a psychic.. yea definitely not because of his tits...
Aren loves back hugs and having Kusuo sit on his lap.
Aren carries Kusuo bridal style.
Hand holding. Hand holding. Hand holding. Hand holding. Hand holding. Hand holding. <- Kaido in his fantasies.
Kusuo thinks Aren is the most handsome man he's ever met in his life.
Ace power couple‼️‼️‼️
Badass lil ga- I mean guys.
Kusuo loves sweet food. Aren loves spicy food. Opposites attract!
They listen to music and would always jam together while driving.
Catboy Dogboy dynamics.
Sun and Moon dynamics too but they're both sun and moons.
Aren thinks his best accomplishment is making Kusuo smile, getting to date Kusuo, going on the straight and narrow. Cus if he didn't then he wouldn't have met this super mega cutie psychic that's hiding in PK.
They're committed to each other and would rather eat the most spiciest food in the world and die than breaking up.
They rarely say 'I love you' to each other and say 'I hate you' more but we both know it's the mofo-ing opposite.
They kiss each others cheeks regularly.
"Homie" Aren calls Kusuo that a lot. As @oatmealcrisp-freak has said, that's his HOOOOOMMEEEE.
Kusuo always gets so many butterflies in his stomach whenever he's with Aren or thinks about him. Which is, all the time.
Beauty and the Beast but they're both Beauty AND Beast.
I love them very much as you can see.
Anger issues but make it angsty AND sexy.
(Them them them them kubosai kubosai kubosai kubosai, omg kubosai, omg purple and pink, omg the word delinquent and psychic, omg them)
*slaps car that is kubosai* This bad boy can fit so much repressed trauma, angst, and bad bitch shit.
Mess with the other and they might just commit accidental homicide without accidental in it.
Kusuos whole being vibrates when they hug laying down. Aren thinks he's purring like a cat.
Kusuo kisses Arens cheek many many times when he's extra extra happy.
They love to boast about each other. Kusuo always finds a way to pitch Arens name in the conversation and Aren happily mentions Kusuo anytime.
(I accidentally clicked the poll button so deal with this poll for a bit)
Kusuo thinks about Aren when he eats coffee jelly. They both make him happy and instantly makes him relax and feel like he's on cloud nine.
Aren instantly smiles when he thinks about Kusuo or sees him or even when someone talks about him. (Except when they be talkin' shit about him. Oh you done fucked up bro)
The gang always notices the way they both light up when it's about the other.
Kubosai.

{NSFW WARNING}
Kaido x reader
Kaido was sitting down on the floor chugging down sake like no tomorrow. You tried to keep him from drinking too much, or he would get all emotional and cry over the smallest thing. Last time you had to deal with kaido crying over a bug, he stomped over, and you don't wanna deal with that again. There, you were running around trying to find a place to hide the sake bottles as kaido yelled at some of the beast pirates to find his sake bottles. King found you, and you freeze in shock. You were caught! King helps you hide the sake, which was kind of him. You both talked, and you felt being lifted up from the ground, you gasp and realized that it was kaido. He was whining about how no one could find his sake while King walked away. You comforted him till it was night, and he didn't fall asleep, neither did you. You both were talking about random stuff until kaido became clingy. You were confused as he started to kiss your hand up to your shoulder. You realized soon enough that he was drunk and wanted some fun. You got on your knees and hugged his waist, kaido chukled and pats your head as you can feel him getting hard from the physical contact. You decide to tease a little as you stroke his crotch, kaido lets out a soft groan as he narrows his eyes at you. He wraps his arms around your waist and lifts you up on his lap, you smiled and moved your hips grinding against him, soon he tried to take off his pants only for you to get off and leave him hard, he growls at you as he gritted his teeth. He knew what you were up to, and suddenly, he grabbed your arm and pushed you against the wall, forcefully entering you as you let out a loud moan. He wasn't showing any mercy as he went harder and made sure your moans got louder by very thrust. soon you both were out of breath...well, mostly you, of course, kaido told you to clean yourself up. You both can cuddle later.

faiz 31-40 notes
as we may be able to tell from my liveblogs this set of episodes
that's not to say it's all perfect no. very similar to me 2/3rds of the way through agito thoughts i'm very invested in the main plot and the other stuff is kind of lame. like the amount that delta's been nerfed is baffling to me, mihara is a nothing character, trying to give kaido an actually serious side plot is Not Working, the detectives are suddenly vaguely competent etc etc etc. (the worst offender of these is delta getting nerfed. why would you give me a Cursed Amulet that actually fucking sucks and people get knocked out of it all the time. like mihara doesn't even get the electric powers. BOOOOOOOO) also from the 41 preview them finally taking yuka's plot seriously again after at the very least 25 episodes of nothing. you're going to hell inoue.
tbh this show is very lucky that i can forgive all of this because everything about takumi and mari is standing over me and beating me with a baseball bat over and over so i kind of don't have time to whine about the boring/annoying shit (and tbh all of that isn't /really/ taking up that much time so its whatever.)
also the revelation that kitazaki was actually the one attacking the reunion is lame. like i get we can't necessarily have the protagonist be guilty of the murder of multiple teenagers but like. it was so cool. idk man i just prefer when the guilt and self-loathing is Real. oh well. at least we still have existential self-rejection yayyyy.
i will say takumi being an orphnoch was something i vaguely knew about beforehand but i didn't know if he would get turned into one or if he'd been one the entire time so it still hit (as one may be able to tell.) idk man. that's oomf!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't think i'm getting across the profound meaning of what takumi is inspiring in me it is just so rarely the case that i love a protagonist the most out of a cast of characters so now i'm like overloaded with emotion bc i'm used to only being exposed to my favs for like 3 minutes at a time max. inui takumi it seems i've grown quite fond of you there are no sexual urges i just think we should probably see the same therapist.
the final form is fugly but at least the weapons are cool. like the suit needed the grounding of the black base suit it's so bad to look at.
i thought about what i wanted to say about takumi and yuji for like an hour and i still have nothing. idk maybe i'll start recording the guttural noises i start making during these episodes to really capture the Pain and Torture Vortex they're putting me in (i will not do this) but these notes posts simply cannot capture the unfiltered energy that flows unhindered from my vaguely sleep-deprived brain during these episode binges. mostly bc it's a bit embarrassing to repeat the shit i say.
i knew sawada needed to die. bc of All of the Murder he did (no real wriggling out of that....) but i was still like aww :( i wanted it to work out jgdkjfgsjkdfg
also from the 41 preview...... APOSTLE JUMPSCARE.

no matter how hard he tried to harden himself, the axe kept coming down. no matter how hard he tried to shield himself with his hands, kenpachi's weapon cut straight through like butter. he was sure the axe slammed into his face just one, or maybe twice but that wasn't on his mind as he mercilessly brutalized the body. it would be wishful thinking to think he would die so easily now, no matter how long it would take, he would keep swinging no matter what. the kid didn't deserve any breaks after what he had done, and he was sure it would take forever to recover from all of the damage. this was war and all of kenpachi's mind was set on destroying the kid. laser-focused as he let his violent urges take over his body and mind. and that was what was his downfall as he felt his bones shattering with his next swing. a shriek escaping between gritted teeth.
eyes growing so wide as he felt his legs wobble, unable to keep the weight standing as he froze on the spot to try and stabilize. the kid won't just die. he could only move his eyes to the kid as he hurried to crawl away. "coward." he muttered, making sure the kid could hear as he clenched hard onto nozarashi. he couldn't let it go, even if his bones were as brittle as a cookie. was this how he was going to die? to a damn cookie? it sounded pathetic, but he couldn't properly move, even if he wanted to. one attempt at taking a step only forces him to his knee, the axe used to prop himself from falling completely over. kenpachi couldn't accept defeat. he wanted to remove his eyepatch. wanting to harness and release the dormant energy within him, all tucked and suppressed underneath the eyepatch, but he couldn't. even if he knew he could be stronger than this. the pain was too much to handle. too much for him to lift his arm up to peel it off his eye.
with the tower, kenpachi's body fell with it. no matter how frail his body felt, he clenched as hard as he could onto the handle of the axe as he fell and landed on the ground. a large dust cloud created as pieces of the platform cushion the fall. not that would help as he feels his eyes rolling back into his skull. he needed to rest, to think. the soul reapers around the perimeter rushed the captain, mostly composed of squad 11. others were aiding each other to get out of the rubble while others perished underneath the debris. horrified at the condition their captain was left in. what do they even heal first as energy is emitted from some of their hands to perform weak forms of kaido on kenpachi.
idiots. he didn't need healing, he was just resting his eyes. the fight wasn't over yet. he wanted to stop them, but he didn't have the strength to lift his arm. only mere wobbles against the ground underneath him and a mere raise before it fell back down onto the ground. did he truly suppress too much of his energy because he underestimated this foe? it didn't matter now. he had fun. he was happy, even with the pain he endured. the fight was fun. he was able to cut through a meteor. he was able to escape space. they were new feelings, new experiences. obstacles that he was forced to fight through.
Tumblr media
soul reapers lay lifeless in the aftermath of the destruction of the platform, all around gremmy as a flock that survived surrounded the kid with their swords trained at him. "stop right there!!!" but this was war, so many of their friends, so many of their comrades died. none spared any mercy. there was no moral high ground in this fight that sought to annihilate each other. it only seemed right to kill one from their side as a sword struck gremmy's neck, weakness could be felt in the swing. it didn't compare, it couldn't. was he thinking of kenpachi and the condition of his bones as he was trying to heal his fatal wounds?
--- NONE OF THIS CAN BE REAL.
How this man continued onwards with everything, the level of abuse his body has gone through, the level of pain he has pushed him towards, how can he still be standing right after all of this has happened, to take on the entire weight of his mind and think that he would have a shred of a chance against him was something he has never once seen before in all of his life, it was not a thought he had, because it was like he had said, no one has ever managed to make it this far against him, no one has ever managed to go the distance against him in the hope that they could get something out of him, every single contest that he has been within, ends the moment the first move has been done and yet he remained, forcing him to think outside of the box and the realm of thinking, that was the problem, then. He has been thinking too small, he needs to think bigger then and get more creative to end him once and for all, so he cast him out, into space itself. Let him drift and see the stars for the mere moments that he can, before his life ends.
He left him no choice.
A horrid way for anyone to die in truth, but the brute had forced his hands to do such a thing, a pity as he really wanted the body to remain here so he could drop it at the feet of his king and show him that this was what he could do, so that he could become one of the chosen then himself, he picked to become one of the royal guards, because as he imagined, he was more suited for such a place and title, right at the kings side and not out here, on the field of battle, where everything has become so dull and boring now for him, this victory was well earned, there was new feelings within him, that did not make any sense, he was feeling, happy .. for the first time in his life he felt happy that he has done something, and odd feeling with it, relief as well.
Had he been scared of this man and the things that he could do.
A slow look down as he raised his hand upwards, to feel it twitching, a small shake within it, then it was as such, he was afraid then, of this man and all that he could do, he held fear within himself of the man and the power that he commanded, that was not a good thing, that was not a good thing at all, as he sighed. It did not matter anyway, nothing mattered anymore, it was as he thought anyway, he would win, because that was how he always thought it within his mind, he wins and everyone else will know nothing other than defeat against someone such as himself, no one at all can keep up with him and now the strongest of the enemy forces was gone, removed, thrown to drift in space, leaving the rest to deal with, as he would slowly turn his attention to them and get himself ready to remove them once and for all and end this conflict.
“Huh …”
He felt something, and without the time to react, he was hit, hard, cutting right through him as he dropped down onto one knee for the moment, a spit and then a throw up. The blood hitting the ground as he would cough it up, what on earth was happening. “How …” This made little sense, how was he alive, how did he escape, how was he still standing and how was he able to do this to him, to carve through him with the axe as he looked up as he was grabbed.
“The bones in your arms …” As he was slammed into the ground as hard as it was humanly possible, to crack the ground under him, as his golden eyes would widen, it was hard to think when someone was beating the living daylights right out of you, as he raised his hands up, let him smash him to pieces all he wants, hit and hit, as long as his head was safe he would be safe, as his body was healing quicker than the brute could carve him to pieces.
Tumblr media
“Are made of cookies.” He managed to spit out quickly, feeling it happen, the bones would turn into nothing other than cookies and with the swings, he was doing they would crumble into dust and his arm would shatter as he lay there, just looking up at him slowly rolling out of the way at one swing and pushing himself up, his mind was racing, too much pain, too many problems, too many things to try and think all at once as he fell down again and was trying to crawl away from him now, healing the worst of the wounds within himself and focusing to try and clear the distance.
As he would start, to crumble the tower he made, everywhere he moved, it would break away behind him and fall to the city below them and more importantly onto the people under them as well, as he was trying to crawl away from him, get as far away from possible, give his mind a small window to recover so he can think right and correct all the damage that has been done.

Hello! Absolutely love your writing! For your wheel of crossover event thingie, how about 19 and 7?
Ah, thank you! For the Wheel of Crossover! Another new fandom on me in terms of writing, and a very interesting mash-up in this case. As always with these, fandom and characters are at the end in case people want to go in blind!
Blue fire flickered at the edge of town. It was a strange little island, although no stranger than any other Ace had encountered in the Grand Line. True Cross, the inhabitants told him it was called, and to be fair it was shaped a lot like the cross-pendant Mihawk wore. Ace wondered if the greatest swordsman in the world had originated from here, once upon a time, or at the least if he’d spent time here. It seemed like the sort of gloomy, vaguely oppressive atmosphere Mihawk would enjoy.
The buildings were grand, rather like some sort of mansions, with spires reaching for the sky and ornate engravings as far as the eye could see. A large cat, on par with Nekomamushi for size but jet black and quadrupedal, patrolled along the roof of the nearest one, black eyes fixed firmly on Ace, who had been considering entering the building – or at least seeing what the cat wanted – before he’d spotted the fire.
It wasn’t quite the same as Marco’s fire. This was darker, somehow, maybe not quite as hot but still far hotter than anything Ace could produce, but that didn’t particularly matter to him. Fire was fire, and fire drew fire, so without so much as a backward glance at the cat, he wandered over to investigate the source.
The source was a teenage boy, clearly not human although Ace couldn’t place his heritage, either. Pointed ears protruded from beneath jet-black hair, and those canines were far too pointed. A tail, long and thin and black to match his hair, twitched subconsciously behind him, ending in a cute little tuft of equally black fur. Resting on the ground next to him was a sheathed katana.
Blue fire danced around where he was sat, cross-legged and eyes closed in concentration. It was a meditation pose, and without disturbing him – or asking – Ace sat down opposite him and let some flames of his own flicker into existence, orange mirroring blue.
This close, he could feel something off about the blue fire. It felt dark, as well as somehow looking it, reminding him of Moira and other, less scrupulous, devil fruits that roamed the Grand Line. Ace had the thought that Kaido or Big Mom might like to get their hands on whatever this was – although in Big Mom’s case, mostly for the sake of hoarding whatever his ancestry was.
Meow!
The boy jumped straight into the air, eyes snapping open to reveal irises of the same, vibrant yet dark blue as his flames – which had gone from small floating things to an inferno of heat that even Ace could feel.
“Kuro!” he complained. “What was that for?” Then he caught sight of Ace, and stilled. “Woah, when did you get there? Who are you?” The point of the katana was suddenly facing his face, and he raised his hands pacifyingly.
“Hey there,” he grinned. “The name’s Ace. What’s yours?” The blue flames hadn’t receded in the slightest, and he wondered how much power the kid had.
“…Rin,” came the mumbled answer. “Are you a demon, too?”
Ace laughed, even though the words sent thoughts running straight through his mind – a demon. The kid was a demon? Or thought he was. If they were in one of the Blues he might have leaned more towards the latter, with terrified islanders unable to tell the difference between a demon and a devil fruit user, but this was the Grand Line. A demon was the more likely answer.
“Nope,” he shrugged. “I’m human. Well, a human with a logia fruit.” He let his hand turn into flames and watched blue eyes widen before Rin’s shoulders slumped.
“Human, huh.” He sounded wistful. “Must be nice… Wait? You’re a logia?”
Ace grinned. “That’s what I said – Mera Mera no mi.”
Suddenly Rin was in his face, looking a mixture of excited and hopeful.
“That means you weren’t born with fire powers, right?” he asked. “You got them later and had to learn them?”
What’s your point, kid? Ace almost asked, before he took another glance around the clearing and realised how many piles of melted wax there were – and the fact that the roaring blue fire still hadn’t calmed down again. Ah.
“You looking for tips?”
Rin sat back down heavily, sheathing his sword. A lot of the fire vanished, but not all of it, and he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, tail twitching behind him. “Uh… yeah? I just… I can’t get it down, and Shura’s not helping and if I can’t get this under control soon they’ll kick me out and-”
Ace cut him off with a small laugh, reaching past the fire – not though it, not when he didn’t know how that fire would react with his own – and ruffling the black hair.
“I get it,” he assured him. “Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?”
The grin on Rin’s face was blinding.

Changing Fate (Part 1 of The Road Not Taken)
In another lifetime, Kozuki Oden asks for help.
Or, a series of one-shots about what the world might be like if the Kozuki clan reclaimed power in Wano.
AO3 || Buy me a Ko-fi
Kozuki Oden was troubled.
He stared out at the calm, dark ocean, the breeze gently tickling his hair and skin as he forced himself not to pace along the deck of the Oro Jackson.
He had said he wouldn’t need help opening Wano’s borders to the rest of the world. He had said that he and his samurai would be able to handle it.
And yet…
Something hadn’t felt right on Wano when he had dropped Toki, Momo and Hiyori off. His retainers’ pleas had fallen on deaf ears, Oden hadn’t been able to bear to look at his country, but he still couldn’t shake the feeling that something had been going terribly, horribly wrong on Wano.
Maybe to the point where he would need outside help.
Who better than the King of the Pirates and his crew?
Roger was dying. They all knew that. But still, Roger and the rest of the crew… they were powerful. They had defied every odd that had been thrown their way.
And if Oden’s sense of dread was wrong, if his mind was simply playing tricks on him, then at the very least, Roger would be able to see Toki, Momo and Hiyori one last time before his death.
Oden would be able to make peace with that.
He wouldn’t be able to make peace with Wano falling apart.
Despite his resistance to it in his youth, Oden knew what he had to do. He knew what his fate was.
He had to become the shogun of Wano Kuni.
Turning on his heels, Oden made his way to Roger’s cabin and knocked on the door.
There was a violent coughing fit before Roger allowed him entry.
“Oden! What’s on your mind at this hour?” Roger’s eyes were twinkling with curiosity, of an itch for adventure, but Oden could see the heaviness in them, the strain the disease was taking.
“I have been thinking long and hard about this, Roger,” Oden started slowly. “I think I will need your help opening Wano’s borders. Is it too late to accept your offer?”
Roger didn’t hesitate, grabbing the den den he kept next to his bed. “Gabban! Set course for Wano! We’re going to open it with Oden!”
A part of Oden’s dread dissipated.
Everything would be okay.
Oden grasped the railing of the Oro Jackson, his face set in a firm, yet grim line as the ship was pulled up the waterfall. Buggy was screaming in terror, Shanks yelling out in excitement, but Oden paid no mind to it.
The sense of dread had gotten worse the closer they’d gotten to Wano, and he knew with each leap of the koi fish, he had made the right choice in asking the Roger Pirates for help.
“Oden,” Roger’s gruff voice said, cutting him from his thoughts. “What is your plan?”
Roger, despite his wild and expressive personality, had been unusually serious during this mission, and Oden couldn’t have been more grateful.
“Figure out how bad it is. Then go from there. I figure we can all handle any enemies that might cross our path,” Oden mused, stroking his chin. “My first priority is making sure Toki and the kids are safe.”
“Of course.”
“Lord Oden!” a panicked female voice said. Shinobu appeared with a pop on the deck before the Oro Jackson even hit the top of the falls.
“A kunoichi!” Roger exclaimed, his eyes lit up with curiosity.
On the other hand, Oden felt dread in his bones. “Shinobu, what’s wrong?” She was holding something in her hands that was making noise and moving around, and he frowned. “What is that?”
Slowly, carefully, Shinobu moved her top hand to reveal a bird.
“Oden is coming! Oden is coming!” the bird squawked.
“I - I’m afraid we have a traitor in our midst, Lord Oden,” she said quietly, her eyes wet with tears.
“Who - who would do such a thing? What is this bird?” Oden asked.
Shinobu blinked back the tears, reaching onto her belt with her free hand and withdrawing one of her kunais and slicing the bird along the spine, only instead of blood, Shinobu’s hands were stained with…
“Ink,” Oden gasped, before his eyes narrowed. “Kanjuro! But why?”
“I don’t know, Lord Oden,” Shinobu said. “He has given us no reason to believe he would ever betray you… but this bird is not the first that has been intercepted by me.”
“What else has been said?”
“Intelligence, mostly, about the status of your family. But strangely enough… Kanjuro always protected Lady Toki, Lady Hiyori, and Lord Momonoskue. Orochi is shogun now… your father apparently named him successor while you were gone. He made a deal with a pirate called Kaido. They’ve built factories all over Wano. Weapons factories!”
Oden sucked in a breath as the ship reached the top of the falls, and even Roger appeared shocked.
“Do you know this ‘Kaido’?” Shinobu asked, looking at Roger skeptically.
“Aye. he was an apprentice on a dangerous crew. The Rocks Pirates. Whitebeard and Big Mom were members of it as well,” Roger explained. “Garp and I took down their crew together. They say he isn’t a human, but no one knows what he really is.”
Oden recalled Whitebeard mentioning being on another crew prior to starting his own, but hadn’t said anything else about it.
“He’s a dragon,” Shinobu explained, shuddering. “Big and blue. Like a deity.”
Roger stroked his beard thoughtfully. “That… is a new update. But we’ve beaten plenty of Devil Fruit users in the past. I’m sure one more won’t kill us.”
“‘Devil Fruits’?” Shinobu questioned.
Oden waved his hand. “Another time, Shinobu, I promise. Wash that ink off your hands and get back to land before someone notices you’ve disappeared.”
“Yes, Lord Oden,” Shinobu said, vanishing.
He didn’t miss that her hands were clean by the time she’d disappeared. Damn kunoichi.
Oden wanted to pass out. Kanjuro. His loyal retainer for decades, someone he had trusted his wife and children’s lives with… was a traitor. But why? He didn’t understand.
He especially didn’t understand why Kanjuro didn’t want to strike down Toki or his children while Oden was gone.
“We have to be rational about this,” Crocus said. “I know that’s not usually your strong suit, Oden - ”
“No. You’re right,” Oden finally said. “I want to speak to Kanjuro alone after I’ve spoken with Toki. Make sure no one else interrupts us.” He grimaced, looking at Roger. “If… that’s okay, captain.”
“This is your fight, Oden,” Roger replied. “We’re merely extra hands for you.”
“Lord Oden!” he heard from the shore. There stood his wife and children, and his nine loyal retainers.
Or maybe it was only eight. He hated that it needed to be a question.
Still, Oden gave them a confident smile, leaping off the ship and onto the shore, scooping Momonoskue and Hiyori into his arms. “I’ve missed you all so terribly! Look how big you two are now! And Toki, my beautiful wife… I’m sorry it took so long to get home.”
Toki hummed. “It’s okay Oden, what you had to do was important.” She glanced at Roger and smiled. “I see Buggy and Shanks have grown quite a lot as well! I imagine they’ll leave long shadows in the future.”
“You think so, Lady Toki?!” Buggy gasped, before composing himself. “I mean, of course I will!”
“Come inside, you all must be tired from the journey. I’m sure you have stories for the children, don’t you?”
Shanks raised his arms into the air. “Do we ever. I’ll go first!”
“You always go first, Shanks!” Buggy whined as the group moved toward the castle.
“Kanjuro, a word?” Oden asked, guiding his retainer toward his office. He could feel the sea stone in his pocket, and hoped it wouldn’t be needed.
He wanted this all to be a misunderstanding, so they could guide Wano into a new age together.
He sensed Gabban outside the room as he as Kanjuro settled down.
“Is there something wrong, Lord Oden?” Kanjuro asked with a small frown.
“A misunderstanding, I’m hoping. I received some troubling news that you were a spy, and that you had passed information about my wife and children to Orochi and Kaido,” Oden said slowly.
Kanjuro spluttered. “I don’t know why someone would say such a horrible thing about me! I am your loyal retainer, you saved me, and I kept your family safe while you were gone!”
Oden nodded. “I know, which is why I would like to resolve this matter. I want Wano to be free, you know that. But I don’t feel safe doing that if someone is out to get my retainers.”
“Of course, Lord Oden.”
“What I’m curious, is why someone would want to blame you, Kanjuro. Of all my retainers, why would they paint you as a traitor?” Oden leaned back. “I mean, it isn’t like someone is trying to attack your family name, right?”
Something shifted in the air, and Kanjuro looked away. “Kakaka… no, Lord Oden. I have no family name anymore.”
“'Anymore'? What do you mean?”
“Your family destroyed them, Lord Oden.”
Dread turned to horror as he stared at Kanjuro. He couldn’t possibly mean -
“I am Kurozumi Kanjuro. Ka. Ka. Ka . I suppose you’ll have to kill me now, right? And then you’ll rush off to the Flower Capital and finish Orochi and the others there. After all, that’s what you Kozukis are known for.” The name was spat with a venom Oden didn’t realize Kanjuro had.
Oden should kill him. He knew that.
But there’s a voice inside him that tells him no.
“I will not kill you, Kanjuro.”
“Y-you won’t?”
“No. Despite being a traitor, you have served and protected my family, even when it would have suited you better to kill them,” Oden said. “I know I cannot undo what has been done to the Kurozumi clan, but I will clear the names of the innocent ones. I will make sure you are seen as a hero. But I cannot do that without defeating Kaido and Orochi. You understand this, yes?”
Kanjuro appeared to be overwhelmed, but nodded in agreement. “Yes, Lord Oden. You… will really clear my name?”
“You will live a long, safe life. You will have a chance to rebuild your clan. Evening Shower Kurozumi Kanjuro, a hero of Wano,” Oden said.
Kanjuro prostrated himself on the ground, sobbing. “All I have ever wanted to do was die, but now - now I want to live. Thank you, Lord Oden. I have a reason to live .”
A plan was devised that night. For extra security, Kanjuro’s devil fruit was nullified with sea stone Roger had stolen from the Marines.
Toki, Momo and Hiyori were smuggled onto the Oro Jackson with Crocus, Shanks, and Buggy, making it appear that the Roger Pirates were leaving Wano. Oden wasn’t a fool, he knew word likely would have spread of their being in Wano, with or without Kanjuro.
Meanwhile, Rayleigh, Gabban and a handful of others went in a smaller boat to the island now named Onigashima to ambush the Beast Pirates. While they did that, Roger, Oden, the scabbards, and the rest of Roger’s crew made their way to the Flower Capital.
Oden barely gave it a glance as he heard the joyful exclamations of his people cheering him on, heading straight for the palace with nothing but fury in his gaze.
People were counting on him to vanquish this evil. They were counting on him to set Wano back on the right path.
And he would win.
“OROCHI!” he roared, barging into the palace. He felt a burst of haki, and knew Roger must have subdued some of the guards.
“O-Oden! Y-you’re back from your travels!” Orochi exclaimed. “I - I hadn’t received any news of that!”
Oden’s eyes narrowed. “I understand you were shogun until I returned. I appreciate you taking on the responsibility, but the position is mine now.”
Orochi let out the worst sounding laugh Oden had ever heard. “You think so, Oden? Well, you’re wrong. The Kurozumi clan has now finally taken its rightful place at the top, and we will ensure you and the other Kozuki clan members, and this whole damned country, suffer like we had to. You want the throne? Take it by force. And even if you manage to beat me, and my guards, there’s no way to stop Kaido.”
Calmly, Oden withdrew his swords, the sounds of battle beginning to rage outside.
“Very well, Orochi."
He didn’t see the old man or the old woman until they began shouting, the old man raising his hands -
And he was ambushed by Kanjuro, who snapped his own seas tone cuffs on his wrists.
The word “traitor!” was shouted, but Oden paid no mind as he rushed Orochi.
Kiku restrained the woman with another pair of cuffs.
Oden slammed Orochi through the window and into a freefall.
Orochi laughed again. “I will kill you, Oden, and if I don’t, Kaido will!” His face became distorted, more heads growing from his body.
A Devil Fruit. Of course. But at least it was one that gave him more of a target. He didn’t know what sort of animal it was, and he didn’t know which head he was supposed to slice…
So he sliced off every single one.
“EVERYONE GET TO SAFETY!” he heard Hyogoro shout as the heads began to rain down upon the Capital.
Oden landed with a heavy breath as he faced the yakuza boss.
“Oden… you’ve done it. You’ve defeated Orochi!” Hyogoro breathed. “What now?”
He glanced around as Roger stepped up. “Aye, Orochi may no longer be an issue, but there is a bigger threat on Wano, is there not? And two of my strongest men are there, Oden.”
“Indeed, Roger. Boss Hyogoro, can I count on you to subdue any of Orochi’s loyalists?”
Hyogoro squinted suspiciously at Roger, but nodded. “Of course, Lord Oden. Defeat Kaido and drive those pirates out of our country!”
“Samurai! With me!” Oden yelled, before he and Roger charged off in the direction of Onigashima.
They had to do it. They had to win. Oden would not allow any more damage to be wrought on his country or his people. Wano’s borders needed to be open, his people needed to taste the same freedom he had.
And, perhaps more importantly, he needed to make good on his promise to Kanjuro.
“Worororo. That was a dirty trick, Roger.”
Roger merely grinned, gazing up at the azure dragon flying toward them. “We’re all pirates here, aren’t we, Kaido? What’s life without playing dirty once in a while? Isn’t that why you took over this country?”
Kaido gave them a rueful grin, showing his large teeth. “I was welcomed here by the shogun.”
“The shogun is requesting you leave,” Oden spat. “If you and your crew leave this nation peacefully, we won’t alert the Marines what you’ve done here.”
“And why should Orochi want to kick me out now?”
“Orochi is no longer the shogun. I am.”
Kaido appeared to be confused for a moment, but burst into laughter. “Oh are you now? Where’s Orochi then?”
“Dead. Strewn about the Flower Capital.”
Kaido’s head reared back, more laughter escaping him. “Is that so? I can’t say I’m surprised. He never seemed to be much of a leader. That’s where I came in.”
Oden had never heard a less-surprising thing. “Then your services are no longer required. Get out of Wano and never return.”
“No. I quite like Wano and its isolation. It keeps the World Government off my back. I think I’ll stay.”
Oden gripped his swords tighter, Orochi’s blood dripping on the grass. “You’ll have to kill me if you wish to stay in this country.”
“That can be arranged. Boro Breath!”
“Fox-Fire Style!”
Kinemon jumped into the fray, splitting Kaido’s attack with one slice of his sword. For a moment, the battlefield was awash in the glowing flames.
With a glance at Roger and then at his scabbards, Oden jumped into action.
“Paradise Waterfall!”
“Divine Departure!”
“Ukiyo Portrait: Evening Shower!”
“Fallen Snow Scythes!”
All around him, Oden heard his allies attacking Kaido with everything they had. The battle was long, and as it continued, onlookers began to appear from every direction. He hated it, wanted his people to get to safety, but he also wanted them to have hope for the first time in years, so he let them watch.
Kaido felt invincible, the damage that had been inflicted would have killed lesser men, and just when Oden thought he had nothing more to give, Toki, Momo, and Hiyori flashed through his mind, and he rose to his feet as Nekomamushi sailed by him, a large gash over his face.
“Oden two sword style,” he huffed, readying himself before leaping at the dragon. “Paradise Waterfall!”
He put everything into the attack, pushing further into a wound that had already been started by Kiku and Ashura.
He cut straight through.
Witnesses to the final attack would call it reminiscent of the Mountain God incident when Oden had only been a teenager.
Kaido fell back into the water.
There were a few moments of tense, stunned silence, but Kaido did not resurface.
“Wano is free!” someone shouted, and the crowd erupted into cheers as his men pulled themselves to their feet and looked around.
“Well done, Oden,” Roger said, clapping him on the shoulder. “I’m going to that island to make sure Rayleigh, Gabban, and the rest are safe.”
Oden nodded, giving Roger a grateful smile. “Of course. Do you want me to send some of my men with you?”
“No. This is a pirate’s battle, and you need to be with your men and your family.”
“You’re just itching for another fight, aren’t you?”
Roger grinned. “It’s not like I’ll have many more left in me!”
Before Oden could respond, Roger was gone, leaving a small dirt cloud in his wake.
“Lord Oden, what did he mean by that?” Denjiro asked.
“The world will be entering a new age soon, Denjiro,” Oden said, glancing at his retainers as they gathered around him. “And we will need to be prepared for when it does. For now, let’s head back to the Flower Capital. See to it that our audience makes it back too.”
“Yes, Lord Oden.”
“Kanjuro,” Oden said. “A word?”
Kanjuro stepped back from the other scabbards, swallowing.
“We put sea stone on you so you couldn’t use your Devil Fruit. What happened?”
“Semimaru blocked the first attempt at restraining him. I had Denjiro unlock me and put my cuffs on him instead.”
That explained why someone had yelled out ‘traitor’, and Oden nodded. “Very well. Come, let’s clear your name.”
Orochi’s corpse had been cleared away, but blood was still splattered along the streets and buildings. He didn’t want to think about how long it would take to get the Flower Capital repaired, not to mention dismantle the factors that were still destroying Wano’s beauty.
“Oden!”
Toki rushed forward, Momo and Hiyori in her arms. Buggy and Shanks followed, and Crocus was a few paces behind them, his harpoon still drawn, just in case.
“Toki! My children! You’re safe?” he asked.
“We kept ‘em safe just like we promised!” Shanks said.
“Yeah! And we watched you take down Kaido! That was so cool Oden!” Buggy added. Oden could almost see the stars in his eyes.
Oden laughed, patting each of them on the head. “Thank you both, it’s much appreciated. Roger went to the island to take care of the rest of Kaido’s crew. You’re welcome to join him, or you can stay here with us.”
“We better go help Captain Roger!” Shanks said.
Crocus shrugged. “Then I suppose we’ll make sure Roger hasn’t gotten into something he shouldn’t.”
Oden laughed, watching them go. After so long with the Roger Pirates, it felt strange not having any of them around him. But perhaps it was for the best, for now. The people of Wano were - understandably - wary of pirates, and it was pirates that were still the major issue in the country. It should be up to the Roger Pirates to negate the threat.
“Lord Oden, would you like to address the country?” Kinemon asked as he approached. He was bandaged up, as were the rest of his retainers. “Hyogoro and his men have set up a platform for you, and a broadcast signal.”
Damn, Hyogoro worked fast, but Oden nodded. “All of you, with me, please.”
It felt wrong, in a way, standing before his nation like his father had before him. His nine retainers fanned out behind him, with Toki, Momo, and Hiyori at his side. It didn’t feel like it should be his responsibility.
If he had never left Wano, this would never have happened.
He took a deep breath and began to speak. “People of Wano… I apologize for how long it took me to return home. You all have suffered so terribly under Orochi and Kaido’s reign. I cannot take away that pain, but I hope you will forgive me.” He paused, letting the words hang in the air. “Orochi and Kaido are dead. They will no longer harm us.”
Cheers erupted from the Flower Capital. He could only imagine it was the same in the other regions.
“But there is something else I must repent for. Yesterday, a reliable source confirmed that Orochi was a member of the Kurozumi clan, as were his two associates,” Oden began, murmurs spiking through the crowd. Hyogoro’s hand immediately went to the hilt of his sword. “I know what the fate of the clan members has been for decades, but I ask that this stop! The persecution of the Kurozumi clan, due to the actions of one man, is reprehensible. Rest assured, Semimaru and Higuarashi will be tried for their crimes, but no one else, and not for the crime of what family they were born into.” Oden paused, taking a deep breath. “It was due to a Kurozumi clan member, risking everything to bring me the news, that we were able to overpower Orochi and his men. My loyal retainer, Kurozumi Kanjuro, renounced what his clan members were doing, and instead protected my wife and children in my absence.”
There was a stunned silence from the crowd, and from his retainers, but then -
“Thank you Kanjuro!” Shinobu shouted. “You saved Wano!”
Cheers and applause erupted again, a chant of Kanjuro’s name starting from the younger crowd members.
“The persecution of the Kurozumi clan is over !” Oden shouted over the crowd. “Wano is entering a new era. A better one!”
More cheers from the crowd, and Oden raised his fists.
“We will rebuild, and we will show this world just what Wano is made of!”
That night, as the Flower Capital continued the wild celebrations, Oden took stock of where the country was when it came to taking out the Beast Pirates. It turned out, aside from a handful of devoted higher ranks, most of the Beast Pirates surrendered easily once Roger’s crew arrived on the scene.
Many had been strong-armed into allying with Kaido, due to his sheer strength and brutality. Many no longer had a place to go, which was leaving Oden with quite a conundrum.
“They could be useful in teaching our people about the outside world,” Oden said to Nekomamushi and Inuarashi. “The three of us cannot do it alone.”
Inuarashi was frowning. “Indeed, Lord Oden, but are you certain we can trust them? After everything the country has already gone through… they are still pirates.”
“Can we call them pirates though? It seemed like most of them were relieved to be free from Kaido, according to Roger,” Nekomamushi pointed out with a frown. “If some of them start to cause trouble, we can always do to them what Lord Oden did to Kaido and Orochi.”
“Let’s not go that far, Nekomamushi,” Oden replied. “Very well. If they would like to stay, they can stay in Wano. We can put them to work and see how it goes. If they want to leave, they must leave tomorrow with the Oro Jackson.”
“What about Kaido’s executives?” Inuarashi asked.
“Roger said he got in touch with a Marine Vice-Admiral. He’ll be coming to Wano to collect them and take them to Impel Down. Until then, they’re still chained up on the island?”
“The Yakuza bosses are taking shifts guarding them,” Nekomamushi confirmed.
“Good. Get some rest, you two. We’ll start the reconstruction in the morning.”
It was early, but the Kozuki family was wide awake, standing at the coast of the Flower Capital as the Roger Pirates loaded up their ship for what would be the last time.
“Oden,” Roger said, grinning. “I can’t thank you enough for coming with me on that last voyage. For helping me solve all those riddles that plagued this world.”
“It was an honor, Roger. I just wish you could be around to see it all come true,” Oden said.
Roger’s eyes sparkled with that trademark mischief. “Who says I won’t be around?”
Oden could only chuckle before turning to Buggy and Shanks, who were making faces at Hiyori and Momonoskue. “Oi, you two!”
The two started, slowly turning to him. “Yeah?”
Oden grinned. “You two are welcome back here anytime. Just make sure you become great pirates first!”
“Even if it hasn’t been twenty years?”
“Of course,” Toki replied with a smile. “That goes for the rest of the crew as well. Wano will always be open to the Roger Pirates, and the Whitebeard crew.”
“Speaking of old Whitebeard, I plan to meet up with him. Should I tell Izo to come back here, Oden?” Roger asked.
Oden shook his head. “If he comes back, we’ll welcome him with open arms. But I want it to be his choice.”
“Understood.”
“Look, children,” Toki’s soft voice said, the sun rising just as the ship disappeared over the waterfall. “A new dawn has risen on Wano.”

Side To Side
Chapter 203: Growing Old
Characters: Law, Ruby, Heart Pirates Rating: Teen Warnings: Language, alcohol mention Notes: I've been writing a lot of side to side chapters out of order recently. There's so much more to come.
~~~~~
Law couldn’t believe another year had gone by.
26.
He has been alive for 26 years.
He’s not sure how that is even possible due to everything that he had ever been through, and god knows what’s more to come. He felt like he didn’t have much time left...you know, again. He was sure that everything was going to happen sooner rather than later. Kaido, Doflamingo, leaving the crew, leaving Ruby…
He took a sip of absolutely spiked punched and watched his crew as they happily threw him a birthday party. Everyone had food and drinks. Everyone was laughing and casually chattering away. It was a warm, loving gathering, so Law wasn’t sure why he was thinking so hard on dying.
He jumped when he felt a hard smack on his ass, followed by mischievous giggling.
“Ruby,” he groaned.
“Oh, come on,” she laughed. “All the times you do that to me, and you complain about the one time I do it to you?” He rolled his eyes. Ruby’s grin brightened and hugged him by his waist. “Love you, Law. Happy Birthday.”
“Thanks,” he said. Ruby kissed his cheek and he leaned into it. “I love you, too.”
“Good. I need you falling at my feet.”
Law shoved her face away with his hand. “Yeah, alright.” She persisted, however. Leaving small kisses on his cheek. He groaned like it bothered him.
“How come Cap is the only one who gets kisses?” Penguin laughed.
“‘Cause he’s the birthday boy,” Ruby said. “When it’s your birthday I’ll give you kisses.”
“Hell yeah.”
“Ruby! Come here,” Ikakku laughed. Ruby immediately separated from Law and hopped over to her without another word. Law huffed and Penguin snickered at him.
“Weren’t you just groaning about her paying attention to you?” Of course, Law wouldn’t say out loud how much he actually enjoyed being fawned over by his pretty girlfriend. It was that ego of his, of course. Not the fact he was touch starved and loved the intimacy she brought to the table.
“Whatever,” Law said. “I literally sleep with her every night, I don’t need any more affection than us laying by each other.”
“Right, well, quit being grumpy. You made it another year without dying! That’s worth a celebration.”
“Yay,” he said, monotone.
“Oh, come on.” Penguin said and wrapped his arms around him, lifting him off the ground. “Be happy! We love you! Right, everyone?!”
Various cheers surrounded him as he stared flatly at his crew. Which, of course, only made them laugh and cheer more. Law sighed and had a tired smile on his face. He supposed he did love all of them. It was fine if they were excited, he liked when his crew was happy.
Besides, it should be a celebration that he lived for 26 years since he really should be dead. He should celebrate that he got another year with his crew, he got to enjoy food and alcohol, he got to, apparently, fall in love with a mess of a woman, too. He stared at the said mess of a woman balancing a shot glass on her forehead.
Yeah.
This wasn’t bad.
It’s not bad to want to live.
He took a deep breath. He should try to live for them. Maybe he should try harder to come back from Dressrosa. Grow old with the crew. Grow old with Ruby and make fun of her when she starts to complain about getting old. He relaxed. Yeah, he liked the sound of that.
He watched Ruby flip the shot into her mouth and drink it while Jun and Ikakku cheered her on. Shachi came over and helped Penguin lift him up until Law’s head touched the top of the ceiling.
“What’s the plan now?” He asked them.
“Leave you up here while we eat and drink,” Shachi said and accepted a beer that he was handed.
“You always did say you liked tall men, Ruby!” Penguin laughed and Ruby snorted.
“I dunno, that’s a little too tall for me.”
Everyone laughed. Shachi and Penguin kept him up for about seven minutes before they finally let him go. Law actually ate some of the cake, which was mostly for everyone else and not him. It was sweet and he ended up shoving it in Ruby’s hands before walking off to have a conversation with Jean Bart. The night went on long, into the early, early morning. Everyone was scattered around the sub, sleeping in different places as some of them got too drunk and won’t be too happy in the morning.
Ruby was laying in bed with her eyes closed when he promptly laid on top of her. She opened her eyes and raised her brow at him.
“Yeah?”
“You do it to me.”
“Fair enough.” She puckered her lips out and he kissed her without a second thought. “I’ve got you trained,” she teased. Law pinched her lips together and she snorted.
Law let her lips go and rolled off to the side. Ruby was at his side immediately and wrapped her whole body around him. “Are you going to be clingy for the rest of your life?”
“Yep. As long as you’re with me, I’m gonna cling to you. No matter how much it annoys you.”
“Well,” he said quietly. “Don’t think I’ll be there for the rest of your life.”
“Why?”
“Because I am definitely dying before you.”
“You think? Even with my track record?”
“Absolutely. Just think of my fruit and how it drains my stamina. You just exist.”
“Hmmmm,” she thought. “Well, as long as we die of old age, I suppose that’s fine. Can’t avoid the inevitable.”
“Also, I’m pretty sure I’d miss you more than you’d miss me.”
“Don’t make this into a pissing contest.” She blew a raspberry at him. “I’m immune to your bullshit. Go do that with one of the other Supernovas or whatever. I’m just here to look cute.”
“I didn’t have you join to look cute.”
“Yes, but that’s what it evolved to.”
“It has not, lazy ass.” He rolled her on top of him. “You’re a brat.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Thanks for the gift, by the way.”
“You’re welcome. I knew you’d like that tea. There’s more. Uh, a lot more….”
“How much did you buy?”
“Haha, “buy.””
“How much did you steal?”
“I didn’t steal any either! I brought home a tin and then proceeded to make my own. It’s all in my greenhouse.”
“Ah.”
Ruby kissed his nose. He closed his eyes and relaxed. “Sleepy?”
“Yeah.”
“Me too.”
“Then go to sleep.” Ruby immediately pulled away from him and laid on her stomach. He smiled. “Night.”
“Night, hon. Happy Birthday.”
“Thanks.” He opened his eyes. “I hope there will be more.”
“There will be,” she told him gently. “We’re gonna grow old together, remember?”
“Yeah,” he sighed out. “We will.”
Basically a review of OP episode 503 ig
Currently rewatching post-war arc (in the dub so I don't have any screenshots for u guys sry) and theres a few things id like to point out.
During a conversation Dadan once had with Garp, they were talking about Roger. Garp said that even if they were facing powerful enemies, he would never run away because he wouldnt dare leaving his comrads behind; it wasnt an option for him. Obviously we see this in Ace. But ALSO, isnt this what he did with Katakuri? It was a little different cuz of the setting mostly, but he separated himself from his crew to fight off katakuri, and lied to them about being okay so they didn't worry (he was already getting his ass kicked by then, so he just made that stupid smile and told them not to worry (or smth like that, I can remember the exact line) (that smile was so gross and fake cuz he fucking sucks at lying). Also he said roger destroyed a buncha soldiers cuz they mouthed off his men. That's what Ace tried to do but instead he died. :(
"The pain he went through just made him hold on tighter to the ones he loved" -Garp, about Roger. "Despite his flaws and his bad reputation, his crew still trusted him completely." -also Garp, about Roger. These both sound a lot like Luffy AND Ace.
When Dogra got home and told everyone about Sabo's ship being shit down and him dying (which we all know didnt happen, thank fuck), (by the way the absolutely lost looks on Ace's and Luffy's faces with the sudden silence hurt like a bitch), Luffy started crying and said "WE SHOULDNT'A LET HIM GO, IT'S ALL OUR FAULT". Which fucking says something about him (thinking of episodes 913-915 when he goes fucking berserk, but before that he learns that Kaido probably killed Tama and he says "I should've escorted them..!" (*ugly cries*)). Ace also reacted pretty similarly-- "Sabo...why didn't we go back into town and bring him back here?! We're so stupid!" And he gets mad and asks where he could find the bastard that killed him (obviously not getting a good answer since it was a fucking celestial dragon ugh). That is what Luffy does, in present time. He results to anger first, not sadness. Not sure when he learned to do that but I'm 99 percent sure it was from Ace. Also the blaming himself thing? High chance thats ALSO from Ace. Who else would teach him that self hating behaviour?!
Dadan pins Ace down to stop him from going after the Celestial Dragon to calm him down, telling him he cant do anything, he's not big or strong enough to do anything and he'll be killed as soon as he tries anything, especially since it was the whole country -the whole WORLD- that killed Sabo. He can't do anything. And then they tied him to a tree outside to let him cool off. Oh yeah then he also told luffy to stop crying like a little girl or else he'll- (and he didn't finish the sentence). ...Ok maybe thats why luffy started being more angry than sad.
This is where things get a little more :( . Ace reads the letter Sabo sent them before he died. As he reads, he walks to the end of the forest, to a cliff overlooking the ocean. And starts fucking bawling (btw the voice actor who had Ace's childhood part did not do a very good job, no where near as in character and real as Coleen Clickenberg did with all of Luffy's crying scenes. She was spot on.) ...do you see where im going with that? He isolated himself before letting himself feel sad. It was all rage and then calm beforehand. Y-you see where im going with that. Dont make me say it.
"How's Luffy doing, is he any better?" "Well...he hasnt been eating much, but he still eats twice as much as we do". Oh look, That's what happened after Ace died too. There's a behavioral pattern that hasnt gone away. Not sure why it wouldve tho.
Luffy is mopeing, lying on the ground in a similar setting ace was at when he cried. Hes thinking about some of the things Sabo said, like how theyre gonna sail the seas together, and he clenches his hands into tight, shaking fists. After Ace shows up and hits him, and talking abt some other stuff I don't feel like relaying, Luffy tightens his grip on the straw hat and tells ace, whimpering, he wants to get stronger (and stronger, and stronger, and stronger and stronger and....) And he wants to be the strongest in the world. "And then, I'll protect everyone. I won't lose anyone I care about". He gets stronger mainly to protect the people he loves. And then he asks ace to promise he won't die. To which he hits Luffy again and tells him he should be more worried about himself dying first. And then the famous line that hurts like a bitch- "I'm NEVER going to DIE!" And then this hopeful music comes on (fucking damnit funimation, u gotta do this? Really??) Also he says he wont die as long as he has a wussy little brother to protect. ...FUCK. Ok, the fist clenching is a thing he does all the fucking time, usually when he gets mad. This was different because he wasnt mad, he was sad. He clenched his fist because thinking about it hurt. Which, huh, sounds a lot like his whole episode after waking up from his 2 week coma on the polar tang. To try and stop the mental pain of those horrendous memories, he resulted to physically pain. He hurt himself. So, He clenches his fists in times like these to fight off the mental pain and the urge to cause himself physical pain. Guys, our boy is bad at emotions, help him. ....ok this paragraph is longer than I anticipated so ill dumb down the rest of it ig. Next part, him asking ace to promise he wont die. The music, the body language, the over change in mood- this comforts him. He stopped hiding his face and silently sobbing after ace said this. OH YEAH! didn't he tell jinbe not to die when they parted ways in Totto Land? And then, hes missing still in Wano and we see Luffy is worried....but convinced Jinbe will show up. Again, this comforts him. Hes nervous cuz someone KOFF KOFF ACE broke that promise once. But jinbe is his crew mate so he trusts him, thank god.
"-But whoever did it, they must be opposed to freedom." The whole freedom thing? That runs through Luffy's blood and spirit.His brothers fought for it, his dad is the man who strives to give everyone freedom basically, and Luffy himself has seen enough of the OPPOSITE of freedom to be so, so much more than just against it. Hence why he of course was so eager to free the slaves in Sabaody, the kids in punk hazard, the toys in dressrosa, the country of Wano from Kaido's tyrany. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree huh.
I dont think Luffy would remember his promise with Shanks if it werent for his brothers putting feul to his dream. It was a stupid bet at first; he just wanted to beat Shanks, right then. But after meeting Sabo and Ace, he found the opposite of freedom and human rights. And then he wanted, REALLY wanted, to become the free-est man in the world; the pirate king.
Last one i promise ok? This one is less connected to whats going on in the episode at this point, but something I noticed (its so obvious everyone has seen this ok) was when luffy cries, his posture is always open. He doesn't curl in on himself like many people would do (I know I would, lol). He doesnt hug himself, protect himself. He's just, opened up to whoever is watching, literally. This has a little more to do with something I haven't talked about much in this post yet; his self-destruction issues. I said he tried to hurt himself when he felt mental pain, which is definitely similar. But he cries and doesnt try to protect or comfort himself, like he doesn't have that programmed into his mind. Reminder that he only wants to live because of his dream, and if he doesnt have his dream, he wants to die. (Whoa.). Ok, so no self preservation mechanism at all rlly. Hes basically ride or die. So, when things hurt so much that he cries, he has no hope left. He just kinda...dies inside. So this was mildly different after sabo died. Yes we saw him just standing there, sobbing. But the next day he's still crying, and instead he's laying on the ground. I saw that and the voice in the back of my head told me he wanted to be a part of that lifeless dirt beneath him. Then, Ace walked over. And his words made him feel the hope that I told you about earlier, and he sat up into a sitting position. And HUGGED HIS LEGS TO HIS CHEST. There's some self preservation! Some hope! Some will to exist, to live! Something we saw none of as he sat in front of his brothers corpse, shutting down. He sat there, open to his enemies, incapable of protecting himself. Practically anyone couldve killed him right then and there. I think he mightve liked that, at that moment. Like thank god he has that stupidly good luck cuz if he didn't I swear someone couldve thrown and axe or FUCKING ANYTHING AT THAT MOMENT and hed be dead becuase he never physically or mentally prepared himself. On purpose.
Our poor boy needs some fucking attention and therapists. (Insert my rant post about how jinbe is on the crew primarily for anger management and therapy, not just being a helmsman.) Ugh, smh ugly cries
Aaaaand thats about the end of the episode. Theres so many little tics and peesonality traits that you notive thru this episode, and I only noticed them cuz im rewatching this part of the show for like the third time. I don't react as much as the first time of course but some things are definitely sadder after knowing what's going on and what will happen later on.
Moral of the story (post)? I think luffy is almost equally as alike -if not, more similar to roger as ace is. Also, high key genuinely think Luffy met like NO ONE but Garp before he met Shanks and his crew. What the fuck was his first like 5 years of being alive like? (He wantd to be a pirate cuz Garp didnt want that. Rebellious baby asshole. And then shanks made things worse, in a good way for luffy. And then ace and sabo made that worse thing worse for a good reason. Luffy lives...for those influences. And that is fucking it. Why.
Oh thanks tumblr for moving my picture to the bottom of the post u fucking idiot
🔝 - “One Piece is better than <insert something else you also like>”
I don't do these types of things bc I don't like the sentiment of statements like that. One should never try and lift one's fave /something/ up by tearing another thing down.
🔍 - What do you think the One Piece is?
The truth of the void century
🔪 - A character who fills you with frustration?
Usopp, especially during Water 7
💓 - Which character do you relate to the most?
Law and Robin probably lol Law for his level of annoyance and being done with everything and Robin for her dark humor, as well as her love for reading books~
™️ - How has One Piece changed you?
I'm not even sure how to put it into words. It's just always been there for me ever since I was little. It made me find so many friends and meet so many awesome people. It's my home, my safe haven, the place I can always return to. It got me out of one of my darkest places last year (when I finally found back to it after having strayed from it for a few years). It's my anchor, and a way to connect with other people. Most of all, it's the most amazing story I have ever experienced, and has given me so many role models and things & words to live by.
Clans of Hoshido: Ishiyama (石山)
The melodic cry of the golden kite and the beat of the large drums mark the beginning of every dawn, every prayer, every battle. Green moss decorates the stony steps leading to the temple grounds, sacred grounds to worship and honor the Father Dragon and his teachings. This is a place of tranquility and contemplation, just as Dion himself would have wanted. The power of the Father Dragon’s name has given the Ishiyamas great influence, in both worldly and otherworldly matters.
In the era of the warring clans, there was no immediate acceptance of the new Hoshidan king who reunified the various clans, the Ishiyamas included. However, they conceded easily upon realizing that their king was in fact a descendant of the dragon philosopher and tactician Dion. Since then, the Ishiyamas have remained faithful in service to the Yamato clan, often providing spiritual guidance and training. The Ishiyamas are unique in that they never had a definite founder, but rather an origin as a nomadic clan who traversed the forest and Hoshidan plains, only to find peace on the highest peaks in the east lands. These days, not much is left of their nomadic identity, aside from their tradition of skilled hunting.
The Ishiyamas are the more grounded of the noble clans, often preferring austere lifestyles despite their status, for a model Ishiyama man or woman never covets anything other than their bow, their blade, or their animal companion. And above all, the Ishiyamas are accepting and reasonable. Their woods are often seen as a safe haven for people and creatures of all kinds, so long as you abide by the rules and pay your respects to the Father Dragon.
Crest Design
The crescent moon facing up is called a yumiharizuki, or a warrior’s bow, is in recognition for Ishiyama’s famed archery masters. Instead of a star, a plum flower (ume) is placed at the top of the crest because the two elements are often paired together traditionally. The entire thing is a minor reference to Kajiwara Kagesue, who was said to have gone to battle with a plum branch in his quiver. It’s also kinda of bit of a very minimalist depiction of a bird, bc golden kites are a common species in Ishiyama domain.
Notable Members
Uzuki Ishiyama - RALLY MAN. The head of the clan. A level headed man who is known for motivating his troops in a positive manner. Is also a talented singer alongside his wife.
Wakana Ishiyama - Uzuki’s wife, Susumu’s mother, a musician and a skilled archer who’s defended the Ishiyama household from intruders. The model Hoshidan noblewoman that many of her peers look up to.
Susumu Ishiyama - Uzuki’s reticent son, the next in line, and a close friend of Takumi. Known for his delicate features, he is timid, sometimes deceitful, and often worries about keeping up appearances.
Kaido Ishiyama - Uzuki’s cousin, Ishiyama’s best archer, Takumi’s mentor and occassionally a father figure in Sumeragi’s absence.
Fun Notes & Facts
Their domain have the highest Nohrian refugee population, because they aren’t killing them like the Amachis and Hiromis do
Other clans fault them for that, but Uzuki’s excuse is that they’re too busy with other important things to bother hunting down people
They are actively letting the Nohrians live so long as they don’t cause any trouble, mostly because Uzuki feels indebted to the Nohrian refugee community for saving his son Susumu
The refugees can’t enlist in the Hoshidan army, but they are fairly willing to cooperate with the Ishiyamas not out of fear but respect
This comes into play when Leo and Anri have to infiltrate the Ishiyama domain and when Mozu fights on the front lines
Susumu feels guilty for hiding the fact that he sympathizes with Nohrians from Takumi and his retainers
Some top officials know about the circumstances of the Ishiyamas’ inaction but haven’t found the time to deal with it
The Chiuras tend to take archery as an art form while the Ishiyamas are all about archery in battle. Neither is better than the other.
Wakana and Kaido are known for their rapid fire techniques which are a major staple of the Ishiyama archery technique
However, this is at the cost of archery (which is the Chiura’s specialty)
Some Kinshi Knights hail from the Ishiyamas because they’re more accustomed to fire quickly and not getting deterred by the instability caused by riding on a bird
Takumi and Susumu know each other because they both learned archery under Kaido Ishiyama
Susumu is a Kinshi Knight with an emphasis on archery, but he’s just as dangerous with a naginata
Takumi often compares Susumu to his sister Sakura in the shyness department (Susumu gets the shyness from his mom)
Takumi makes a point to bring cute things whenever he visits because Susumu likes cute things and decorates his bedroom and armor with them, which is against Ishiyama values, but he’s broken so many he’s kinda tired of it
Hinata and Oboro thought he was a girl because of his delicate features and great resemblance to his mother (this is not Forrest by another name, they aren’t the same)
Susumu is often welcome to helping Oboro with test fitting the clothes she makes for Takumi because they’re around the same size
His crushes are Reina Chiura and Saburo Hiromi. He actually asks Takumi a lot about them because he’s too nervous to talk to them
There are kites, or tobi, that are very friendly with the Ishiyamas. Uzuki makes a point to feed them whenever they visit
The special ones that are made suitable for riding are called kinshi
Saburo and Wakana come along and the animals love them
They have names for the tobi and kinshi as well
Takumi found it odd at first when he stayed over with Kaido but he finds the birds very soothing to be around
The Kitsune live around this territory now after moving around a lot on the Inazumas suggestion because of how well the tobi and kinshi are treated here
The Ishiyama aesthetic is moss, moss everywhere. Their gardens are essentially just expanses of moss covered forests.
This was because the founders of the Ishiyama clan found this place virtually undisturbed and overrun with moss
They thought it looked really cool and decided not to disturb those places very much
Susumu and other kids learn at an early age to respect that moss and not step on those places unless you have to
weird question, ho do you think there should be more rp or fan blogs for. Like from one piece who do you think there should be more dedicated fans focus on? I don't know how to explain this as a question, I'm just curious about who you think the fandom needs to show more love towards.
Tumblr media
mik. well, as I understood your question, I am not entirely sure who should I comment who deserves more love into the fandom or if there should be more blogs dedicated to certain characters. One Piece has a huge cast of characters that have incredible potential even if they hadnt have enough screen. In my personal wish, I would love to see more Whitebeard Crew characters since they have a large story behind as a yonko crew and the whole family bond dinamic is quite interesting for a pirate theme manga. Besides, there are at least 17 characters that can have easily a good material for people to want to use.
however, people can like and focus on other characters. especially those who have more … material to work with – ex. Strawhats, since they are main characters and we have seen a lot of them. I personally like marines too, like Helmeppo and Coby — I am very interested in Kaido’s crew and the other ex-Novas outside Law, Zoro and Luffy. and Kidd in some extent. I like Killer a lot, X-drake too, esp with his marine background.
It is interesting to look at the Merpeople and Minks, it’s new and can be put in very creative ways ( in this blog I made Olivier friend of an unusual group of merpeople called Deep Ocean Mermans ). There’s also Blackbeard and the admirals, antagonists that I really like, Laffite is prob one of my fav from the pirate side.
I would love to see more OCs too – considering how rich is OP’s worldling is.
The fandom tends to inclinate towards what is happening in the moment with the manga and canon events, like lately with Big Mom and Vinsmoke family. but that’s completely normal — its always like that in any fandom. the new things are the trend that end up mostly dying by the end of the arc. which is also completely fine. inspiration comes with motivation and the hype of the moment.
if I have to say my ideal, it would be for fans to try and reconsider old characters from old arcs, give them a second chance, of course, without ignoring the new ones. its all a matter of preferences and also of connection? i mean, even after what? 5-8 arcs, whitebeard is my favorite character and he is frickishly dead wwwww. Characters that left an impact like Ace or Sabo tend to get a lot of attention and I would love to see more attention to others like Coby, Smoker, Bartolomeo, Luffy’s fleet in general. On the ex-novas. Theres so much to pick up on that i cant mention everything.
but again – it’s all a matter of people’s preference and sense of connection with the chosen characters. probably even regarding artistic material and other things, like a background or a full personality. sometimes is like stepping in dangerous ground not knowing how to portray a character without breaking the essence left from Oda.
One Piece Chapter 884 Review
Tumblr media
The battle could have gone to the conclusion with Luffy going to Gear 4 and singlehandedly take out Katakuri. Instead, it has more to show and that’s fine by me. The chapter however doesn’t only focus on the battle; instead, a new setup is made and its own style use of one of Disney classic musical score that works to its advantage.
I’m glad that Luffy was able to read his action from his previous attempts and gather enough info on how he was able to hit him. It sounds so smart yet shocking to hear him spouting out how he learned it. The idea is to have him believing that Katakuri is impossible to land a hit because of how he utilizes his Devil Fruit Mochi to his advantage. His Observation Haki can allow him to foresee the next action, so when an attack is coming, he shifts his form to avoid it. That is pretty deceiving and convincing how Luffy figured it out.
Some fans may have interpreted wrong about Katakuri and his recent downplayed ability by believing that his secret being known led Luffy to harm him. While that is technically true, it’s not exactly like once you know, he loses everything, which is random to be honest. It’s about remaining calm and collected to activate Observation Haki and that is more believable.
It amazes me when you look back at his actions his expressions are mostly calm, granting him to use Haki at its best. The last chapter is the first time he reacted in a hasty and insecure manner, which affected Haki to not able to activate. It matches the name well, so it’s no wonder it wasn’t going through. I’m also amazed on how he utilizes it well like a Logia type; I recalled some fans actually got confused on his status because how he portrayed it so well. This only adds his coolness.
Speaking of coolness, this battle has been pretty damn good so far. The fact it wasn’t the end all be all, it becomes intense. That one moment is Luffy’s only shot of defeating him, but he’s not going out like that just yet. It is becoming more and more two-sided ground yet there are still more crazy tricks from Katakuri that even left Luffy stunned. Watching Gear 4 struggling is tough to imagine and that is not a good sign if he wants to go against Kaido. I don’t know how long he has left in Gear 4 but he has to win here or that’s it for him.
The action goes to a halt and it shifts to Cacao Island. It does suggest that it is setting up for Sanji to get into action with one of Charlotte sons, which would be great for him. I know people want him to take action, so perhaps this is his ticket to do some ass kicking. It is not without setting up the dilemma regarding with Mr. Pound, who is the father of Chiffon. It’s so odd to read the line, “I believe he is Big Mom’s 25th husband,” casually no less. If you were to tell your friend like that, he/she would be lost with words.
Brulee, as annoying as ever, practically recapped the story so far for Sanji to get up-to-date. The day she gets beat down (again) would be a spectacular sight for sore eyes. Sanji and Pudding’s chemistry continue to please me; I sort of wish this wouldn’t end when the arc ends. I think Sanji is too natural to be anything but charming, even when saying that Luffy will defeat Katakuri. I do appreciate that Pudding does show some concern for Sanji and his friends. She is growing to me more and more. If only she can find a way to not pass out before this relationship will be deemed as “unhealthy” but not exactly what you think.
I know Mr. Pound is a bit of an idiot to go there casually, but I do feel bad for him after his backstory and what not. It doesn’t help that his design kind of got me sympathetic. Sadly, Oven shows up and beat him down like a criminal, yet he is his father-in-law. The family continues to show the rotten side and how they give no love whatsoever. This could set up for Sanji to take him on; if not, Bege could make it in time to fight him instead. One way or another, it should be pretty sweet to see someone to take action. No pun intended.
The ending is rather interesting because it’s not like a cliffhanger for a battle about to happen or what’s next in it. It’s more of establishment on Strawhats’ fleet continues to grow. Sea slugs were supposed to take care of Thousand Sunny, but instead, they are now part of a new remixed “Under the Sea” scene. Basically, they are compelled by Praline’s singing voice, which is an interesting turn. Keep in mind she is Big Mom’s daughter and wife of Aladine, who was Jinbei’s right hand man. Of course, she could be doing this for a favor for Jinbei since he was their captain, but perhaps they will be part of the fleet in the future. It’s amazing to have more children of Big Mom to go against her.
The visual is pretty good with the action choreograph. The intensity just keeps on growing with each passing panels. When Katakuri goes back to his usual look, you know Haki is back at full force. It’s a nice visual telling of his status use. The rest is solid and clean to read what’s going on with a lot of backgrounds and characters. The scene with Praline is pretty nice and really reminds me of The Little Mermaid, now in One Piece edition.
This chapter is pretty amusing. The action continues to be strong and thrilling; still don’t know how it will end because you never know. The setup is intriguing once more; now with more problems inbound for Sanji and others. The ending ends with a good feel moment and it’s a nice change of pace. I shall return from watching The Little Mermaid.
