A few weeks ago Lord Hermes very clearly and repeatedly told me my career was going to be slightly shifting soon. and because I was so incredibly anxious about the prospect of that, I tried denying it. Oops much have picked the wrong tarot card 5 times in a row. Oops sorry Hermes you’re cutting out oof bad signal sorry. What was that? Career change? Idk what you’re talking about. Let’s not fuck with my finances pls ☺️

Well :/ It’s happening now. And it’s not as a deal as I’ve made myself worry it would be. Just a slight lifestyle change, a bit more effort, a couple more things to do in a day. I got the news from my work yesterday, and last night Hermes visited me to “I told you so” and idk why but in that dream I was very sour about it. and he said something along the lines of

“a few months ago you were begging me for new opportunities because you were so eager to do something new. I told you to slow your role because new things are coming and now that they’re here you want to go back to your comfy corner and do nothing.”

and I was like yeah, I know. I need a hard kick in the ass and some new motivations, a new chapter, new projects. I just get anxious at having to get used to new changes. What if I fall short? What if I mess up because I try TOO hard? What if it’s difficult and overwhelming? What if I lose motivation and get stuck again?

And Hermes was kind of like “you know how Im ✨super fast✨ and cool, and you’re like… really slow?”

“Well that’s actually just a trick of the eye. Every time I roam the skies, I have to get to my destination in a timely manner. Very important business. But Im not actually focused on going all that fast. In fact, I take my time to enjoy the journey. Every boundary I cross, I do so leisurely, because there’s nothing to be gained from rushing and worrying all the time. I’m always in the space between spaces, I’m very comfortable with the discomfort that comes with it. I got so damn good at it that I got faster and faster every time I tried. Now I go so fast, people don’t even realize how slow I’m going.

Basically, I never told you you had to adjust to everything right away, or that you’re going to seamlessly blend into every new chapter. Appreciate your surroundings for once. Appreciate the act of being unsure and take your time until you’re ready to pick up the speed. You can float on the water or fight against it, regardless, the waves are still going to come. And regardless of whether or not you want to sink like a rock, the tide will still move you. You’ve already won, so stop worrying so much about losing, cause my devotees aren’t losers”

So… anyways… I asked Hermes to help me start a small business with my friends selling art and clothes. The new hours will give me some extra cash to buy supplies finally. The added exercise will also help my mobility so I can slowly build up my strength and not be tired all the time- which will give me the motivation to make art and stuff. My disability is worsened by over exhaustion but it is also worsened by stagnation, so maybe a better balance of moving + resting will actually be better in the long term. Plus I’ll have a better opportunity to source supplies after work on my way home. Lord Ra has really been begging me to get outside more while the summer sun still lasts, maybe this is the catalyst I needed. Maybe I’ll do a spell for abundance and courage later.

If you just stumbled upon this, I am Adrienne, also known as insertdisc5! I’m the developer, writer, artist, main programmer, etc of the game. The game being In Stars and Time, a timeloop RPG, which is also the next and final game in the START AGAIN series, following START AGAIN: a prologue (available here!).  You can find out more about In Stars and Time here!!!

Was this ever a fear for you in making START AGAIN, or In Stars and Time? Did you take any special precaution to keep these games within a scope you could handle, and did you learn tricks from START AGAIN that carried over to ISAT when in came to keeping things manageable? Thank you!! ✨

I had no idea that was a piece of advice given, but yep, that makes a lot of sense! Since I didn’t know, I went in blissfully aware, teehee.

I will say that I am familiar with working on big projects from working on comics, and with seeing big webcomic artists always mention to never start with your magnum opus… And I could tell ISAT had the potential to be way bigger than I imagined, which is why I decided to start with creating the prologue to get used to RPGMaker as well as making games. Kind of a pilot of sorts!

Again, thanks to comics, I know to keep my scope pretty small, because even if you keep it small it WILL balloon into something way bigger than you thought. Just for the prologue, I imagined it’d be a 20mn game, and it’s easily a 2-3h one! Keep your scope small!!!

As for tricks, when I catch myself thinking “wow what if I added this cool thing”, I try to always keep in mind those two things: 1. How long will it take to implement (including bug testing), and 2. Does it add something important to the game. I know we always want to add a fishing game, or a fun minigame, but do you Need It. Does it add something substantial to the story, to the Themes. Or are you just adding it because you like fishing games. Which is a valid reason, but also, maybe just make a fishing game instead. You are not the Yakuza series!!!! You are a small indie gamedev!!!! Think about you in 4 months who has to fix all the fishing game bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s so weird!!! The game has been done for so long!!! I’m very glad I asked some friends to playtest the game, so I could at least get some feedback before the game is out… In some ways it feels like the game will be done twice: once back when I finished making the game, and once when the game actually comes out. It’s just a very strange experience. Sometimes people tell me they’re excited to find out more about this story beat, or about this character, and a part of me is like… Wait, haven't you played the game? Oh, yeah, it’s not actually out. Guess you’ll find out later.

EDIT: My god. I just checked on my private devlog for when I completed the Alpha of ISAT. It was in August of last year (I lay down on the floor and look at the ceiling) (I still had to finish all the illustrations so really the game was Done Donezo in October but still…)

SO MANY THINGS. Here are some of them: support when it comes to porting/marketing/social media/localization, feedback on the game and how to make it better, community guidance, testing support, QA/internal testing… The game couldn’t be the way it is without them.

For more small details, I have a weekly meeting with my producer, Dora! We talk about the game and how everything is going. A couple months back, I also was checking in with the internal QA team fairly often to fix any remaining bugs. They also helped me find ISAT’s additional programmer, Isabella, and she is a godsend because coding is hard. They also take care of communicating with press, finding more opportunities to showcase the game in conventions, talking with the localization/porting teams… I am probably forgetting a thousand little things they did to help out!!! THEY’RE SO GOOD OK

Absolutely! I just went with the obvious. Rock is physical damage, defense focused, Scissors is swords, attack focused, and Paper is magic, mind focused. It was fun to develop a spell system around those! I’m excited for people to find out more about Craft…

I’m so glad you streamed it with friends… I hope you had a good fun time…

And for sure! Isabeau and Mirabelle were pretty set from the get go (himbo and shy wallflower), but Odile started as more of a gentle teacher type, even if I very quickly went the snarky old lady route. Siffrin and Bonnie were harder to pin down– I wasn’t sure how to portray Siffrin’s despair in the prologue, and started showing them more overtly depressed, but I thought it’d be Very Yummy to have them show a happy facade to their friends. And then, for ISAT, I had to figure out what a non-depressed Siffrin would be like, for the first couple acts of the game before the despair sets in. As for Bonnie, I had a lot of trouble figuring out what they’d be like, what kind of kid they were, what their relationship with everyone else would be like, and then I thought about what their past would be like and then their characterization was set in stone. Sometimes you need to figure out One Thing to unlock a character’s brain. I’m very excited for everyone to find out more about each character in ISAT!

It could be stuff you liked so much it inspired, something you found frustrating because you felt an itch to do it differently, or something that made you realise humans make things and you could be one of them.

I found a lot of indie games inspiring, but I think Umineko might’ve been the one that made me go… Oh, anyone can just make a massive video game narrative. And you can make it very simple, with kinda goofy sprites, and still manage to make an incredibly touching story!

As for frustrating games that lit a fire under me, I think I’d say in general, I found issue with the classic trope of the “main character helps people and doesn’t get anything back”. What often happens in some games is that you help NPCs with their problems, sometimes helping them with very intense, complicated problems! For a very long time! And, in exchange, you get… A cool item? A nice new skill? And that’s it?

I know this might be complicated to implement on a narrative perspective, but I remember playing Persona 5, and your character just went through a very harrowing experience (like, oh, being INTERROGATED AND TORTURED BY THE POLICE) and you help your friends during social links, and they go “thanks for your help! Bye~” like WHAT ABOUT ME. WHAT ABOUT MY PROBLEMS. CAN YOU GIVE ME A HUG

So on a certain level, I wanted a game where instead of the characters around you having problems, the main character also has problems. And is subconsciously screaming “CAN YOU PLEASE NOTICE I HAVE PROBLEMS AND GIVE ME A HUG.” And hopefully, the characters notice. Winks

Hm. I do want to say I wrote most of the prologue/ISAT during the pandemic, and I felt very lonely and not supported. But then guess what. I told my friends about how I felt. And most of them told me they had no idea, and vowed to support me more. And now I’m closer to them. So the moral of this answer is, yeah, it’d be nice if people noticed, but also, you need to tell people when you’re feeling bad. LOOKS AT SIFFRIN

It’s interesting, the songs I listened to for the prologue are generally more heavy and frenetic, while the ones for ISAT are more hopeful… I made sure to listen to more lively songs for ISAT, since that’s the feeling I wanted to give off…

That’s all the questions I have! In other, non related ISAT news, I have started a new project and having a lot of fun. It’s a visual novel this time. I’m hoping to get some screenshots ready in the next few months, but also I’m taking it easy on this one. If it takes years with many breaks in between to get it done, it’s fine. What matters to me right now is the process!

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! Last one of the year! There are so many amazing shows I listened to this year--Gastronaut, Kakos Industries, Madame Magenta, Dungeons & Daddies, Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later, Bronzeville, Deviser, Ghosts in the Burbs, The Silt Verses, Fall of the House of Sunshine, The Ballad of Anne and Mary, Eliza: A Robot Story, Eeler's Choice, Hemophobia--this list isn't even comprehensive! But here is what stood out to me this week. (As always, some spoilers follow.)

🦸‍♂️ I've had Superhuman Public Radio on my radar for a while, but I finally got a chance to listen to it this week. For lack of a better way of putting it, the structural integrity of this show is flawless. It sounds exactly like listening to NPR, and it's funny and clever with some really incredible worldbuilding. It's everything I like about listening to local news without the stress of it being local news that affects me. I love it.

✨ I'm also new to Breathing Space, but the Firefly vibes are off the charts. I love any story that is basically just Anticapitalists in Space, but the western vibes of this really make the stories hit home. I especially liked S1E2, "A Rat Among Falcons," because who doesn't love a scruffy nobody being incorporated into a found family? S1E5, "The Salvage of the Valentina Tereshkova" was also a really excellent space horror story. I can't wait to see what they do next. And that theme song tho, right??

❤️‍🩹 @thefringespod has been making incredible use of their new full cast, and I love the twist that this season is driving home--it's not a story presented to you, the listener, it's a tragedy that the mute second character is helping to undo. The softness of the family that Pine Gonzalez spent the whole first season describing comes through beautifully in the work of the actors.

🌊 Modes of Thought In Anterran Literature is always a little bit unnerving, but this week our professor faced the horrors of...rich people. Like, REALLY rich people. "You're already paying for private security?" Absolutely chilling conversations. There was a headline this week about a bunch of Silicon Valley millionaires trying to start a utopia in the desert, which works great all the time of course, and I thought of Anterra, tearing itself apart, and about the professor, who doesn't exactly make great choices, tearing himself apart too.

��� Things are getting very scary on Palimpsest! Is this a werewolf season?? It is VERY gothic, which is fun in a Jazz Age setting. It feels incongruous, which just adds to the horror. The quiet build of Palimpsest never disappoints me.

📦 Bless those children on @storiesfromylelmore, they're so darn good. ItMe has always been excellent at writing along the span of human nature, and seeing them do it with the three kids in Stories from Ylelmore is wonderful. Of course, a lot of the credit has to go to ItMe's flawless line delivery too. The kids feel very real, even while they're delivering magical packages from a bookstore to the head of the local witch coven.

🐦 The Amelia Project's Twelve Days of Christmas thing has been so funny. I half hope we never find out who's tormenting Alvina. The only downside is that now I have the song stuck in my head constantly, and seeing that it's like, the second-worse Christmas song, this is a problem. The show's worth it, though.

🕯️ What should appear in my podcatcher this morning but the second episode of Flickers! I was intrigued by that first episode, and this second one is really bringing home the isolationist horror. I can't wait for the next installment.

👽 Among the Stars and Bones is coming back! It's coming back this month! This is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi shows, everyone, if you're not on board yet then GET WITH IT, because this next season is guaranteed to blow your mind.

That's what I've been listening to! Here's what's going on with me:

🧟‍♀️ The Dead has been posting episodes from its second series, Ephemeris, which I wish we could have spent more time on, because the premise is so good. Zombies. In. Space. My gosh. David Ault and Kayla Temshiv in particular are killing it on this story. It'll be a few weeks before our next story premiers, but I'm REALLY excited about that one. Tune in!

A vote of everlasting love

Sasuke released a sigh of relief as soon as the credits started rolling on the screen.

He enjoyed whatever they did together — just being by Naruto’s side was enough — but the obnoxious movie had been, for some reason that escaped his understanding, almost a torture to watch.

“Best movie ever!” Naruto giggled as he stretched on the sofa and turned to Sasuke.

“You can’t be serious.” Sasuke grimaced, disgusted.

Naruto pinned him with a severe stare. “Dead serious, teme.”

“Why?”

“Why? Why?” Naruto squeaked in disbelief. “What’s not to like about it? That movie is basically our story!”

Sasuke blinked slowly. “Exactly which part of that cheesy, generic princess story is remotely related to us?”

“Like, everything, duh!” The dobe emphasized his point with an annoyed head movement.

“Naruto, it’s not our story just because the main couple matches our physical features.”

“Hah! Of course, I know that!” The blonde turned further to better look at him. “You are princess Odette, and I’m prince Derek, obviously.” He signaled between the two of them.

Sasuke’s mind went blank, for a moment. “Now, you’ve completely lost me, dobe.”

Naruto cocked his head — something that he usually found endearing, but not now — and looked at him stupidly.

“You really don’t see it?”

“I’m starting to wonder if we saw the same movie.” Sasuke shook his head and moved to stand up, but Naruto dragged him back onto the couch, almost onto his lap. “What the hell, usuratonkachi?”

“We are not moving until you embrace the truth.” The Dobe declared, clinging onto Sasuke like an exasperating koala.

“There’s nothing to embrace.” He struggled on the blonde’s hold. “Let me go. Don’t you want dinner?” Sasuke craned his neck to better look at Naruto.

“I want you to open your eyes to the truth.” The idiot said ominously.

“Dobe, you’re giving the story way too much credit.”

“Wanna bet?” Naruto smiled, alluringly close to his mouth — the cunning blonde was definitely trying to distract him.

Sasuke lifted his stare into Naruto’s eyes. “What are we betting?” He acquiesced, deciding humoring the idiot was the fastest way to get dinner and dessert.

“Whoever wins gets a request from the other. No restrictions.”

Sasuke raised a brow. “Very well, prepare to never eat cup ramen again.”

He would never actually deprive Naruto of ramen, but a month of suffering seemed like fair payback for making him waste his time.

“You’re on!” The idiot finally let go of him.

Sasuke sighed, making himself comfortable on the couch. “Go ahead.”

Naruto raised his index finger. “Princess Odette — that’s you — was kidnapped by a creepy old man with questionable abilities, who also had put a curse on her.” He raised a second finger. “Prince Derek,” He paused to point at himself, causing Sasuke to snort. “Made a vow to rescue her no matter what, and remained firm even when everyone told him to give up.”

He squirmed under his clothes, but refused to give in. “That’s like two coincidences and-”

“They were sworn enemies as children.”

“Okay, but-”

“They come from important families, and isn’t the Hokage kind of a king?” Naruto kept raising fingers and shoved them in front of Sasuke’s face.

“You’re not even Hokage yet,” Sasuke huffed.

“I didn’t give you jewelry- but there’s the hitaiate.”

“Na-”

“Not to mention that the princess kept asking what else? like a certain bastard with his why? why? why?” He parroted.

“Tch, it’s only fair to want some confirmation when the other party is a proven moron.” Sasuke pouted and looked away.

“So you can relate to the princess.”

Fuck! Sasuke realized his mistake way too late.

“I still think we’re better.” He side-glanced at Naruto.

“But you agree on the parallels.��� The idiot nodded, amusement clear in his eyes.

“Fine,” he groaned painstakingly, but the way the dobe grinned was worth the defeat.

“What do you want?” Sasuke was, admittedly, mildly concerned when Naruto’s blue eyes shone with mischief for a second.

“I’ll let you know when I make up my mind.” The blonde bit his lower lip and strode — humming the movie's musical theme, the moron — towards their kitchen.

Sasuke sighed, shaking his head and following the dobe, who was already fishing for ingredients in their fridge.

That night, as they laid face to face on their bed — in their room, in their house — and Naruto directed him a sleepy smile, the last verse of the song came to his mind.

“And with your love I’ll never be alone.”

Maybe the movie isn’t so bad, after all, Sasuke thought right before falling asleep.

"Stretch" (2014) review

Aka ✨ why this movie is one of the most underrated ones I've ever seen and why it is some of Patrick Wilson's best work ✨

"If you like stories about chance and coincidence, here's one you've never heard" gives me the chills every time 😮‍💨

Patrick Wilson is one of the most underappreciated actors of his time, like, not only do his other projects demonstrate that he has drama, romance, instruments, and singing down ✨, but here he is finally given a chance to flaunt his impeccable comedic timing, vocalizations, and expressions

Idk maybe I just love movies with narration (ex., "Heathers," "Jerry Maguire," "Amelie," "Eloise at Christmastime," "Megamind," "American Made," "The Outsiders," etc.)

But jokes aside, I will defend Patrick Wilson's narration throughout the movie no matter whAT ANYONE SAYS YOU CAN PRY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD FINGIES; IT IS AT TURNS FUNNY AND RELATABLE AND PROFOUND AND WE GET TO KNOW THE MAIN CHARACTER BETTER 😤😤

It does start a bit slow, especially if you aren't as invested in Patrick Wilson as I am 🙃🫠 but if you stick with it and pay attention to the subtle comedic elements in the meantime 👌🏻

This movie is not afraid to be a bit irreverent, which is a modern and mainstream rarity

Stretch and Charlie are so cute together; I wish more of their interactions had been kept in the final cut because when I think of the quality content that we missed 😩💖

"Who gains weight in their neck?" "Sexy people." "Three months of Rosetta Stone- I HATE THE FUCKING FRENCH." "We was gettin' all romantic, watching Titan-tic..." and so, so many more

Honestly, Karl is an integral part of this film as well- he may seem overtly cartoonish to some, but again, we get to know the main character better through him, as his presence gives us a visual of Stretch's inner struggle; he contributes to the dark humor vibe, and Ed Helms was clearly having the time of his life (as was the entire cast)

Speaking of which, stellar casting all around, especially those who were cast against type; love when directors give that stuff a chance. Everyone was made for their role

The Navstar scene. If you know you know

Same goes for the post-Candace club exit scene with the valet, the wannabe rapper, and the sex club exit scene (there's a man wearing only balloons. need I say more). I mean, the whole movie is basically the best part and I'm trying not to make this review me just naming every scene and going "yes. this is good" but these are some of the most standout parts

The soundtrack may be atrocious overall, but the exception is the song at the end (although I was disappointed when I read that it was originally supposed to be "Telephone Line" by ELO but they didn't have enough in the budget because that would have gone so hard) 😩💕

Speaking of the ending, why is it so incredibly pure and sweet to me that it would almost make me cry if I weren't medicated? 🥺 Something about the setting of the diner, exuding vintage charm and glowing in the sun the quiet morning after the previous night of chaos, and the serendipity of how Stretch and Charlie finally reveal how much they've obviously liked each other for a while, and after all of the danger and depravity, everything ends soft and gentle and alright 😊💖

This film is somehow so sleazy and wholesome at the same time- against the backdrop of drugs, sex clubs, threats of violence, and constant swearing, it's ultimately a story about overcoming cynicism and self-destruction, getting your "mojo" back, taking control of your life, and allowing for the possibility that things happen for a reason ✨ Honestly? 10/10

It’s a well known fact Doctors do not have the best work-life balance, and it’s for good reason. For years even when I was training as a junior doctor, things like sleep paralysis was a constant nightmare, quite literally. It usually happens a couple of times over a range of months, so luckily not daily.

“Y/n you should really head home girl, you’ve been up for 36 hours straight. That’s not ok” Steph groaned taking the clipboard out of my hands, working in the emergency department did that to you. Days of just staying up late, nights of restless work and reports.

“But the patient in room 305-“

“Calm down girl, I know your man must be waitin for ya at home. Don’t drive home, i’ll call you a cab okay?” With one ring of a cab, Steph handed me my coat and duffle bag from the locker room and stood with me outside to wait for my taxi.

“Are you sure you’ll be alright tonight-“

“Yes hun, go home and relax, I know you’re off for the rest of the week”

Nodding my head I stepped into the yellow cab that had just arrived, telling the driver my address I just let my head fall onto the rain stricken window. God I had forgotten what it was like to finally be in a somewhat peaceful environment, no more ringing sounds in my ears, or the constant rush of adrenaline.

(Chris' P.O.V)

Getting off the phone from one of Y/n's coworkers Steph, I stood outside of our front door, sitting on the chair on our porch.

My poor girl has done nothing but work tirelessly these past few weeks, especially with COVID on the rise again. With me being away for multiple projects this year, like Ghosted, I knew she used work as a distraction from staying alone in the house.

I walked down the path once I saw the yellow cab pull up, handing the driver some bills, I opened Y/n's door who was clearly dozing off in the back. Looking at the cute sleepy look on her face, I took her bag from her and basically carry her into the house.

“ ‘m sorry Chris, i’m such a mess” She mumbled as I set her to lay down on the bed, her head lifting slightly while I took off her shoes and started taking off her work scrubs.

“Don’t apologise sweetheart, i’m so proud of ya” I cooed watching a sleepy smile grow on her face as she somehow found the energy to crawl under the covers. Pulling back my side of the covers I slipped in beside her, her body slowly moving towards mine and wrapping itself around me.

Within seconds Y/n was knocked out on my chest, light snores leaving her lips, her face looking much more rested and calmer. Deciding It was still too early to sleep, I turned on the bedroom T.V and switched to some random channel for some background noise.

(Y/n's P.O.V)

'What the fuck? Not again’

I felt a continuous weight pushing down on me from somewhere, my eyes half cracked open yet I couldn’t speak or move. Sleep paralysis.

For years I had continuous spurts of sleep paralysis episodes, recently not really but I knew it was coming at some point.

Moving my eyes about I could see Chris was awake yet his attention was on something else in the room. Then the worst part started, a dark figure appeared in the dark corner of our room, it was always faceless and resembled a shadow. It never moved or anything, just stayed there silently torturing me as I lay there helpless.

I felt my breathing start to quicken out of my nose, the feeling of anxiety bubbling up horribly in my chest.

(Chris' P.O.V)

Mindlessly watching the screen, I felt a major shift in Y/n's breathing. Looking down I saw her pretty eyes dart around the room crazily,

“You awake Y/n/n?”

No reply.

I repeated my question only to see her eyes meet mine, it instantly giving my chills as I watched them tear up. Shaking her a bit to no avail, I now sat up and shook her a tiny bit harder; then all I heard was her breaking into wrecked sobs. Her breathing was all over the place as she held onto my shirt tightly, her face hidden.

“B-baby what the hell just happened? Are you alright? Did ya have a nightmare?”

“Water” She croaked out gasping for air,

“Do you wanna talk about it?”

“I’m pretty sure t-that was another episode of sleep paralysis” Y/n breathed out handing back the cup of water for Chris to set back onto the bedside table.

“You’ve had this before?”

“I mean not recently, it was before we got together it was really bad, so I thought it had gotten better” Y/n shrugged tugging up the covers to her neck

“Bub why didn’t you tell me? You know I would have helped you with anything?”

“I don’t know I didn’t see it as a big deal, plus I know how busy you’ve been I don’t wanna add onto that ya know?”

“Y/n what did I say when we first got together?”

“I’m your number one priority” Y/n breathed out feeling Chris' arms wrap around her even more, both of their bodies smushed together in a bundle of blankets.

“Will ya sing for me?” Y/n asked, with Chris starting to him ‘The Carpenters - Close to You’ into her ears softly, his large hands rubbing up and down her back gently. Y/n's eyes were still tired with sleep, even with the episode she was desperate to fall back asleep again. That sense of happiness filling her when she realised she was off for the next four days, and Chris was too.

“Sleep tight baby”

Chris hummed holding onto Y/n's hands tenderly as they sat outside the bed store, mattresses filling the furniture store they were currently at. Reading up on sleep paralysis, Chris read that one of the main ways to help was to ensure a good night’s sleep. With a rich man like Chris by your side, he insisted (forced) that you actually buy a whole new mattress for your guys' bed.

“Chris we don’t actually need a whole new mattress”

“Shush honey, after we fixed your working hours, I am making sure your bed is practically heaven” He said pressing a finger to Y/n’s lips to stop her from talking, standing up when a store attendant headed their way

“N' it means we get to christen the thing, any way we want” Chris whispered bending down to Y/n, his fingertips dancing over the small of her back.

just a curious lil question from lil ol’ me- are you working on any more one shots or AUs right now? No pressure obvs! I’m just interested to see what other ideas are rattling around in your unbelievably talented brain!

OOH you curious little bean you. Well obviously I'm going to tell you since you basically called my brain big and juicy and that's always a good way to butter me up 😘

But I’ll stick everything under a read more cut just in case anyone would rather leave it as a surprise 👇🏼

There are truly so many ideas I have in mind to do. So this is by no means a comprehensive list. This is only scratching the surface of what I’m planning/have already plotted. But I want to avoid mentioning things that I know I may not get around to writing for a while. So these are all projects that are closer to the top of my list.

The main three projects I’m working on right now:

The Talk - a Jasper POV. So this is set perhaps a month or so after the events of DWM, and centres around Jasper struggling to come to terms with Silco and Astrid’s relationship. I’m about half way through the first draft.

Part 3 of the DWM Virgin AU. Obviously I’ve gotta finish this bad boy. I haven’t put words down on the page yet, I’m still working out all the elements in my head. Sort of like what happened with the og DWM, this AU got a lot more ✨feelings-y✨ than I’d originally planned. So my original plot idea for part 3 doesn’t fit anymore.

Private Booth. This is literally almost ready to go. Just need to round it off and run through some edits. It might possibly be my spiciest fic to date… it definitely at least matches Chap13 in heat🌶

The thing is, that even though the main storyline is finished, I still have specific plot lines/set ups in my head for these characters that need to publish in a particular order. So certain fics need to happen before other fics can happen… if ya get me 😉

I’m also considering using NaNoWriMo as a way to bash out a first rough draft of the Silco POV. I’ve never done NaNo before so have zero clue how it works.

✨MID'S GOALS AND PROJECTS FOR THE BEGINNING OF 2022✨ which I've postponed posting earlier due to my Master's thesis

First and foremost, hey!! hi!! How's everyone been? Sorry for the radio silence but doing my thesis' presentation did leave me in a near catatonic state, so this past month has been heavily about recovery and trying to not to fry my few working braincells in doing everything all the time.

✨I finally decided to open a Ko-fi!✨ And while I have no current goals set there, every cent donated to me will currently go to paying my PhD this September, which will happen regardless but having a small supporting mattress would greatly help and ease my worries regarding work/study/life (this last bit is where I get time to write and unwind) balance.

Regarding current projects I am still very much writing stuff for Arcane and have, at the moment, four WIPs on the works and on different stages some of which should see the light along this month. This includes:

A medium length fic (24k), Academy era, pure smut. Currently going through the editing process.

A short(-ish) fic. Modern AU. Revolving more heavily around a certain platonic relationship that I wish had been explored more thoroughly in the show (place your bets in the comments below, jk jk, unless?)

A medium length fic, Divorce era, which serves as a more moody and character study-ish counterpart to item one on this list.

A long fic, certain indie videogame AU

I don't want to go into more detail unless asked because I am not immune to that one internet phenomenon which basically consists of telling everyone about something you are really excited to do and then losing motivation and nor carrying through, and also have a lot of anxiety.

Finally, regarding more personal goals, last year one of them was to learn to enjoy the editing process, and SURPRISINGLY IT'S GOING INCREDIBLY WELL. Another big goal was to get the courage to finally open a Ko-fi page, and while it's been accomplished this past week I am going to count it as a win.

For this year the two big ones are to try and write more if current historical events and my mental health allow me to and to finally take the step and open a writing Twitter, as I'm already very active over there but my account is no place to post any writing (if we are mutuals be not afraid to ask me for it if you are ready to tolerate a lot of rambling in Spanish and navigating my new hyperfixations along with me over there).
