about the dynamics thingy, ( sorry if this is late ) botw Zelda and link maybe? Or twi and legend? Have an nice dayyy
Ohohoo you've chosen to ask about the duo with some of the most stuff to talk about. >:]
Zelda and (botw) Link's relationship in this au is undeniably positive, but also very complicated. The best way for me to explain it is to explain the big events in their shared past that shaped that relationship!
Pre-Calamity
Zelda, faced with a heavy destiny she did not want and feared she'd never be able to fulfill... Was understandably in an emotionally turbulent state. When she first met Link --a boy who seemed to lack opinions of his own and seemed to fulfill his role perfectly-- she hated him. However she felt immensely guilty of that, and after an outburst apologized and tried to explain herself to Link. After all, Link was very much in the same boat as her, maybe... Maybe he could actually get it.
He unfortunately had to disappoint her...
The war
Despite their inability to form an emotionally connection through words, they did end up becoming close due to the horrors they witnessed together. They couldn't talk about how they felt but they kept each other safe.
When Zelda lost Link and awakened to her destiny, it wasn't as much due to the pain of losing a friend, but losing the last person she had. The last hope the kingdom had.
100 years later
When Zelda called out to Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, she was speaking out to a legendary hero who was destined to slay Calamity ganon.
The person who heard her however, was a memory-less boy who realized he has epic sword skills and can do back-flips. Hearing of his destiny, he decided to immediately go the very opposite direction and instead have fun. They had the wrong guy! This "Link" guy may have owned this body before but he now didn't know or care about these strangers.
Yet during his journey across Hyrule... He fell in love with it. The first few memories he tried to ignore, but as they kept coming he came to realize two things:
The Link the world had known 100 years ago was not happy. He was simply the ideal soldier, someone with no opinions of his own.
The Princess had deserved better than who he'd been. Now that Link had grown to love the world and tried to reject a destiny forced upon him, the feelings she shared with him suddenly made sense-- And thinking back to his lack of response broke his heart.
He wasn't going to run away from what needed to be done anymore. Link seeked out his destiny and slayed Calamity Ganon. For the world he loved, and... For the Princess who he wanted nothing more than to apologize to.
Post Game
Before being yoinked into the comic, Zelda and Link have been reconnecting while getting started with rebuilding Hyrule-- Not as a kingdom, but a home. It was certainly awkward at first. In Zelda's eyes this boy wore the face of someone she knew, but acted entirely different... And on top of that, this stranger knew her like they'd known one another for ages.
Despite the horrors in their memories that will never fade, and the endless guilt as the only few who made it out... They found a new kind of happiness neither had felt before.
To me their relationship in the comic is probably the best described as queerplatonic. It's not even a question of if they'll be together for the rest of their lives, its a promise they've already made without a single word.
Being taken on a whole new adventure without her has been jarring to Link, but! Zelda has good people around her. The two are not dependent on one another. Hopefully the time travel nonsense will get him back home for a quick hi sometime soon, but at least he'll have a lot of interesting things to tell her...
They're a team! To the very end!
Disclaimer: If the comic contradicts whats written here in the future, the comic's canon is the one you should prioritize!

Too incoherent to form real thoughts about zelink right now so please enjoy this random list of concepts that are making me insane right now
When did they start sharing that bed? When did that house become “Zelda’s House” (as it’s called in TOTK) instead of “Link’s House” (as it’s called in BOTW)? Did he give it to her? Were they just roommates for a while because Zelda didn’t have anywhere else to go? Was it awkward? Who proposed the idea? Was it mutual? Did they lie awake all night the first night, silently, facing away from each other even in the darkness, not even daring to look at the other?
Zelda needing her place to concentrate because the last time she was working with Link in the house she accidentally started doodling him in her notebook and if he finds out he won’t ever let her live it down
WHAT WAS HIS HAIR TIE DOING ON HER BED TABLE. IM GOING FUCKING CRAZY
Sorry
They had like five years of peace between botw and totk. Man what did those years look like!!!! Did they celebrate holidays and birthdays and go on vacation and spend cozy nights in??? At any point during those years did they attempt to define their relationship or were they content to just sleep in the same bed and spend every moment together without expectation or pressure. She’s the princess and he’s her knight. It doesn’t matter.
Zelda giving Link a jewelry box to keep all his earrings in. Link spending months checking caves and ore deposits to make her a diamond necklace. LINK HELPING HER CUT HER HAIR. ZELDA HELPING HIM GROW HIS OUT. Ok I’m fine I’m fine
Uhhhh
Is Link a stay at home wife? Zelda has her job as a teacher and Link’s job as a knight is kind of on hiatus because she doesn’t really need one at the moment so. Does he just follow her around anyway? Does he stay at the house and make her things because he doesn’t know how to say “I love you”? Does he go out on rides without her and visit all the friends he made while trying to get her back??? What’s that boy doing when he actually gets to decide what he wants to do??? Is ‘Zelda’s Knight’ all he ever wants to be?!
Help
DID HE LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT AGAIN??? NINTENDO HE ALWAYS PLAYS AN INSTRUMENT. WHERE IS HIS MUSICAL ABILITY NINTENDO!??!

Zelda looked around and pinched the bridge of her nose when she saw Link wasn’t at the meeting. Her father waved his hand with a fond smile. “Let the boy sleep in. We have time to wait for the meeting.”
She pursed her lips. “Yes, but our people are ready to settle on the Surface. I’m going to go wake him up.”
She heard a sigh but she went inside the academy, finding Link’s door with ease and pushing it open, ready to scold him. He was still lying in bed, blankets tangled around him and his arms in an awkward position. She stepped up and softened once she noticed the sweat beading on his forehead and the way his expression was slightly pained. She gentle laid the back of her hand over his forehead and winced. “That’s definitely a fever,” She murmured to herself.
She gently shook his shoulder and a clenched fist swung at her face, just barely missing as she stepped back. She flinched but remembered she wasn’t supposed to awaken him with touch. “I’m sorry. Link? Are you awake?”
“Oh,” Link blinked. “Mhm.”
“I think you have a fever, can you tell me how you feel?”
“Fine.”
Zelda narrowed her eyes. “You’re burning up.”
Link chewed his lip, avoiding her sharp gaze. “R’lly nauseous…warm…sweaty.”
“Well, let’s get you out of this blanket and then I can go get you something to cool you down. How does that sound?” She asked and saw him nod slightly.
He pushed himself up and tore the blanket off of him, Zelda helping a little bit. Then she went off, hoping he would stay awake for a little longer. She grabbed a cloth and ran it under freezing cold water. She wrung some of the water out and then came back, carefully placing it on his head. He let out a small puff of air, and she started to walk out of the room when she heard a soft voice calling out to her. “Zel…”
“Yeah?”
“Love you so much…don’t go…”
Her heart ached and she hurried back to his side. “I love you too, Link.”
She would go eventually but she wanted him to know she wasn’t really leaving her.

This is for primarily for oot link but it can be for any! I didn't draw that picture I don't have that much skill!
☆-link would play his Ocarina for you when y'all set up camp somewhere
★-he gets tired of listening to Zelda ramble about something so he would just zone out until she asked me a question then he would look at her confused
☆-he loves messing with you when your trying to focus on something unless it was something serious
★- when both of you were on epona's back he would make her go fast so you would wrap your arms around him
☆-he buys epona special hay for his special horse.
★-he like to ride epona in the rain because he thinks he looks cool.
☆- he like's to show off his sword skills to make you impressed and he would accidentally trip on a root of a tree trying to impress you.
★- he is very awkward when he meets new people
☆Hey, sorry for grammar mistakes I'm still trying to learn english! Forgive me! ☆

Has so much love to give but he is just so insanely awkward about it
Like how in chapter 2 the working girls call him a pussy cat and he’s like “yeah, he’s a… pussy.. cat”
Thats the kind of awkward to expect
If you’ll let him, he likes to accessorize you a little bit
Like he’ll offer up one of his spare neckties if the colors match or decide which of your earrings goes best
Sensitive about the scar on his neck and feels a bit emasculated that he feels that way
Takes a long while before letting you see him without his necktie
A very light snorer
Not anything compared to Charles’s or Arthur’s buzz saw snore
Likes to be pampered, can’t a man enjoy a little massage and some tea?!
Wants to try a new style for his face hair, but gets nervous and keeps doing the same thing
I think he’d have a woodsy smell, maybe like pine or oak
Really likes it when his partner kisses his temple or hairline
Just a soft little kissy and he’s golden
Ok now some modern!!!!!
Has a 3ds that no one knows of, uses it to play zelda games and cooking mama
Loves playing music on a cd player despite having spotify or other music services at hand
Just a little nostalgic when you gotta slap the cd player when it skips too many times ❤️
Honestly i think he’s a little fascinated by the 90s/early 2000s

I saw you wanted some comfort vibes, so maybe some quiet comfort for you? ❤️ (sorry if Wars is out of character)
…
Link should have really thought it through, he supposed, but when a giant magical gate appears out of nowhere, one does have to investigate. His scar had bled, and that always meant trouble. With the queen in active labor, everyone was distracted and vulnerable.
He hadn’t hesitated. Honestly, it had been a relief, a reprieve, a promise of usefulness and freedom.
But as he’d spent some time in this strange Hyrule, he’d started to discover things he hadn’t thought possible. And this new Hero—at least the eldest of the three he’d met—was certainly going through a lot.
At least Link has finally figured out that his mother, the Impa of this world, hadn’t… well…
He still had his reservations about that woman. But at least the man she’s had a child with was, well, not just a giant dragon as he’d suspected.
But it seemed matters were far more complicated than his comrade could express, and though Link hardly had much energy for anything, he found his heart bleeding for the poor guy. He… well. The captain had it fairly rough; he hadn’t know his parents at all, nor his origins of any kind, until it had all crashed down on him during this war. It made Link a little sad, knowing that his brother-in-arms had never grown up in the rich history and culture of the Sheikah, had never enjoyed the cherry blossom festival of the springtime, sung the songs while dancing…
Watching the captain sit on a log, shoulders hunched, staring off at nothing, Link crossed his arms. He slowly made his way over; he hardly knew what to say anymore, now that the pieces had fallen into place. It had been awkward in the past, but now it was just sad.
Link settled beside the Hero, noticing how the captain’s gaze moved to him briefly in acknowledgement. “Your father is wandering camp. I take it you’re avoiding him?”
The captain glanced at him. “I… it’s just… I don’t know. I don’t know what to make of it, of him. He was my enemy before.”
What would Hemisi say? “Did you defeat him?”
The captain had a strange expression on his face, conflicted, but he smiled a little at Link’s light tone. “Yeah. Well. Zelda and I both did.”
Oh, right. The other part of the equation. Link shook his head of the matter, trying to focus on the somber hero instead. “I’m sorry. It must be… difficult. He is on your side now, though, right?”
“Yes,” the captain answered. “Somehow that makes it worse.”
Link wasn’t sure what to say to that. He wanted to make the captain smile again. Placing a hand hesitantly on his shoulder, the teenager said, “Link, you’re a great warrior, and a man with a good heart. If Volga has any decency to him, he’ll recognize that and he’d be proud of you. But… you don’t need his approval. Nor his company. You have friends who care about you.”
The captain’s deep blue eyes watched him, and Link was happy to see that he finally got a smile out of the stoic hero. The Hero’s eyes grew too blue, watering like the ocean they mirrored, and he looked away quickly. “Thank you. You’re… very kind.”
Link’s gentle touch on the captain stiffened a little, guilt wracking his entire being, mind screaming in opposition, but he didn’t negate the statement. This wasn’t about him. At least he’d managed to cheer the guy up a bit.
“It’s just…” the captain continued, finally opening up, “I… I don’t know what I should have expected, but… I can’t wrap my head around it. Did neither of them want me?”
Link’s heart fell a little at the way the captain’s voice quivered, at the vulnerability he rarely dared to show to anyone. A familiar hurt pulled at him, and he said quietly, “I don’t know. It seems there’s far more to it than that. But Link… I… I’m sorry. For what it’s worth. I… know such a thought is hurtful beyond words. But… if they truly didn’t want you… that’s a stain on them, not you. And you’re worth more than they could ever be or imagine. Your dignity and worth aren’t tied to their opinions of you, or to your usefulness to them or anyone else, understand?”
Please. Please understand.
“And what about my reputation, my legacy?” The captain muttered darkly, eyes growing distant.
“If you’re referring to the hag who dresses like some mixture of a court jester and the local floozy, you really shouldn’t base your opinion of yourself on her idiotic input,” Link said dully.
The captain let out an unexpected chuckle before bursting out laughing. “She really did dress horribly, didn’t she?”
Link huffed a little, enjoying seeing the flush of cheer in the hero’s cheeks. Then he elbowed him playfully, like Hemisi and Merovar used to do, getting his attention. “What I said is true, though. Don’t let their, or anyone’s opinions of you, influence your opinion of yourself. There are plenty of people who love you.”
The captain sighed a little, amusement settling into a warm cheer, and Link gave him a reassuring smile as the sunset bathed them in the glow of another day well spent.
“I know,” he conceded softly. “I… I know I’m worth more than their opinions of me. I just… wish it… I don’t know.”
Link shrugged, rising and facing him fully. “Perhaps something good will come of this. You said there’s a new enemy arising, correct? You’d be surprised the bonds you can form in battle. Or, well, actually you shouldn’t be surprised. You’re a soldier too. Would you like me to go yell at General Impa?”
The captain barked out a loud laugh. “I’ve never even heard you raise your voice - Impa would probably destroy you if you tried.”
Link but back a huff. Yes, he was soft spoken and hardly picked fights. But no one here knew what he was capable of when he finally lost it. Shaking his head, he changed the subject. “Come on. Let’s find your friends. It’s about time you spent time with people who are far better to you than those two.”
The captain rose, eyes a little discerning. “Are you not a friend too?”
Link paused, and then shrugged. “I’m nobody. But come on, this nobody can regale you if takes if Sheikah legends since you missed out on that when you were a kid.”
The captain smirked, wrapping an arm around him and directing him further into camp. “You did say I should hang out with my friends, I suppose. That includes you.”
Link stuttered over his words a moment, trying not to let himself be emotionally vulnerable anymore. Not after his own war. But it did feel nice, to be seen and noticed and… just a friend. So he smiled, and he laughed with the captain, and the two disappeared into the golden light of the sunset.
…

NO THIS IS AMAZING
The reassurances and the way he’s trying to help him understand this because he went through that too and doesn’t want Link to end up in that same disastrous spiral and the way he’s constantly thinking about Hemisi and trying to do what she would do (the Cia bit hdbsksgsjsbdh) and then how he’s downplaying his issues because he’s trying to comfort Link but then he gets comforted in the end as well they’re both such messes and I’m just—
AAAAAAH. SKYE. YOU.

Work of Art Modern AU (Link x Reader) I
(a/n) AAAHH I'M SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!! i've reached that point in the semester where i've got either a project or an exam due every week, and i haven't had any time to write :( but i'm here now with a brand new fic for you! so thank you for waiting :)
parts will be linked and will also be available on my masterlist when they're available!
cw: link experiences unwanted sexual advances in the beginning (nothing too explicit) so please proceed with caution, afab!reader, swearing, zelda and link are besties :}, breathless conversations in a stairwell, you and link are just some awkward goobers
wc: 2.3k
♤♢ ~~ ♡♧
"And this one-of-a-kind masterpiece depicts the moments leading up to the Hero's decisive victory over the Demon King. For just a moment, let's draw our eyes toward the finer details the artist has decided to depict. Look with me now at the use of light in this scene, and how it starkly contrasts..."
Is that a new crack?
Blue eyes absently traced the thin line that fractured the pillar's marble surface. A wisp of gold tickled the tips of his lashes and he huffed, coursing his fingers through his hair in a bid to keep it in place. He kept his eyes trained on the small, black fissure that coursed through the white stone.
Definitely a new crack.
Taut fingers absently fumbled the ring of keys latched to his belt while the other hand thumbed the baton's cold metal. Link's eyes fluttered shut and he let out a soft sigh, adjusting his feet to abate the blood pooling in his heels.
"--Ahem."
His broad shoulders twitched and ocean blues met irritated meadow greens, which juxtaposed the seemingly sweet smile Zelda flashed him. Link dropped his hands immediately, causing the metal nuisance to sing a dying song against his thighs; a quiet chorus of giggles served as the encore.
"Thank you," his best friend cleared her throat, "as I was saying--"
Hylia, he was so bored. He rocked on his heels and watched Zelda motion to the large, newly restored painting before them. He knew how hard she had worked on restoring the old thing, and he was proud of her for sure, but if he had to listen to her spiel about the painting's history one more time--
"Hands off the rope please." He uttered softly to the woman dangling off the red velvet. She scoffed, but her look of disdain eventually softened into something... heavier. A sultry smirk snaked its way onto her lips and her eyes turned lidded.
"Sorry, sir. I just couldn't get my eyes off such a gorgeous masterpiece. It's a work of art, y'know?"
"I understand ma'am," his knuckles tersed. "But please refrain from touching the rope."
"Oh, I'm sorry..." She dragged out. "Can I make it up to you with some coffee?"
"No thank you. I suggest you turn your attention back to the presentation. That is why you came, right?"
"Well, what if I told you I actually came for something--or in this case... someone else?"
A shudder wriggled down his spine; she continued before he had time to draft his next sentence.
"I know you've seen me around... Why do you think I visit this dump of a museum so often? To stare at the same paintings day-in-day-out?"
Her fingertip traced the velvet rope, nails softly scuffing the luxuriously-textured barricade. He kept his eyes focused on the little strands of hair peeping out of the mole on her forehead, his throat constricting and drying at the waft of cheap perfume.
"C'mon... After the museum closes, let's grab some food and head over to my place, yeah?"
"He said 'no,' ma'am." A soft voice deadpanned behind the both of them. A pair of bewildered eyes locked with calm, unblinking (E/C)s. "No means no."
"Excuse me?"
"Stop harassing him." You spat, cold venom honeying your tone. "No. Means. No. Do I need to scream to get that through your fucking head? That would draw the crowd's attention to you, don't you think? I wonder how they'd feel watching you harass someone in broad daylight...”
“Tch… Worthless piece of shit.” Red heels clicked right past you as she side-bodied your smaller frame, sending you back a step or two. Your eyes followed the storming figure as she dipped past the grand marble staircase.
“--And with that, I would like to extend my most heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all our curators here. Without your support, our work in restoring these priceless historical pieces would not be possible. So from the bottom of my heart--“
“--Thank you.” He mumbled, his pulse quickening.
You flashed him a soft smile.
"No problem. I'm sorry you had to go through that.
"It’s okay. This... Isn't the first time."
"What, she tried pulling this shit on you in the past?"
"Oh, no, I mean..." He sighed. "It's not the first time someone's done something like this. I never really knew what to say, so I just... didn't say anything, so… Thank you."
"Well, I'm glad I could help." Your smiling eyes averted towards your buzzing phone. “Oh, fuck... Sorry officer, I gotta run! Have a good night!”
"W-Wait, can I ask for--"
--your name?
You raced down the same path his unwanted suitor went a few minutes prior, back disappearing past the staircase. The warmth of gratitude in his chest chilled into a growing, aching hole. Gods, if only he had gotten your name!
"Soooo... who was that?" Zelda snickered, saddling up to the flustered man. Link's cheeks reddened and a small pout bloomed on his lips.
"No one."
"Really? So 'no one's got you all hot and bothered?"
"'Hot and--?' Nah.."
"Uh-huh, whatever you say." She slinked an arm onto his shoulder and dangled off his steady frame, watching the thoughtful wander of the museum's patrons. The air about her turned somber, and her voice dipped to a volume only the blonde could hear. "... Did someone bother you again?"
Link's lips curled into a soft smile--a rare sight, even for his lifelong friend. Confusion ticked Zelda's features as she saw this new reaction.
"Well, the one who ran off helped me with another 'admirer.'" A dreamy sigh. "I was just thanking her."
A soft, contrite smile graced the curator's lips.
"I'm happy to hear that... I'm sorry this is such a regular thing for you. I wish there was some way to know what kind of person we're selling our tickets to..."
Link waved off her concerns and shrugged her off, throwing his arms above his head and feeling the sweet, satisfying pops in his joints. His neck craned from side to side, filling the air with a chorus of crackles; Zelda visibly grimaced.
"Stop doing that! You're gonna snap your own neck one day."
"If I do, does that mean I get a day off?"
"Of course not." She retorted mirthfully.
"Man..."
♤♢ ~~ ♡♧
Of course the elevator was broken.
Link heaved open the heavy metal door which led to the winding staircase unused by most tenants.
And of course he lived on the 6th floor.
With a huff, he lifted his foot on the cement step blackened from gunk and other dubious substances. He tried to pay little mind to how his shoes grew stickier with each step, or how the flickering light's buzzing drilled a dull ache through his temples. He rounded the first of many corners and kept an even pace, already beginning to feel a bit spent.
Hands fiddled around his hoodie's pocket, feeling for the familiar roundness of his earbud's case and the soft edges of his phone. As he popped his earbuds in, his eyes glazed over the dozens of unorganized playlists that littered his screen, eventually resting on the simply named 'workout' playlist. His music's volume amped up to an almost painful level in a futile effort to blend his rapidly beating heart with songs from his chosen playlist.
"ᴼ⁻ᴼᶠᶠᶦᶜᵉʳˀ"
He stopped to respond to a meme Zelda sent and texted an equally unhinged one back. The greasy scent of takeout wafted to his nostrils and he looked up, slightly confused.
"ᴼᶠᶠᶦᶜᵉʳ, ᶦˢ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ʸᵒᵘˀ"
A body filled his peripheral; pure fear coursed through his veins as his overactive imagination transmogrified a very real and alive person into eldritch nightmares unutterable by man. His phone leaped for safety, clattering down the flight of stairs for what felt like an eternity before rolling into its final resting place by the suspicious goop in the corner.
A moment of shock-spawned stillness blanketed the two persons--before Link was racing down the staircase.
"Hylia! Are you okay?!" A familiar voice called out. He stopped, fingers hovering a few hairs away from his phone as he slowly careened his face behind him.
There you were--gorgeous, gorgeous you--donned in sweats, a hoodie, Crocs with Socks™, and a steaming bag of takeout. The harsh fluorescent light softened your silhouette, casting an almost ethereal aura about you. Link gabbled an... exclamation of sorts as he grabbed his phone. He slinked the grimy thing into his pocket as he cooly made his way up the steps, shame and a newfound desire to drink lava inapparent on his blank face.
"Yes, thank you." He rubbed his (clean) hand against the back of his reddening neck. "Fancy meeting you here."
"I can say the same to you!" You laughed, shifting the takeout from one hand to the other. "How was the rest of your shift?"
"It was uneventful, thankfully. I'd like to thank you again for helping me out earlier... I really appreciated it."
"Aww... Of course. I'm really glad I could help you out back there."
Gods, how could a smile both ease and excite him all at once?
You both started up the steps once more, silently thanking and cursing your luck. After such a hasty exit you thought you'd never see the man again, but here you were, walking side-by-side up a neverending staircase. You looked down at your food, making sure the handles weren't gonna snap or anything, and happened to catch a faint mustard stain right by your heart. If only you didn't look so... grimy.
"S-So," you started, praying he didn't catch your stutter for air, "uh, what were you listening to?"
"Um..." He panicked slightly, "Just... workout music."
"Yeah? What song?"
"Something that... always gets me pumped." He cleared his throat. "What'd you order?"
"Oh, just some poultry pilaf from the Gerudo restaurant that opened up recently!"
"The one by 3rd Street?"
"Yeah, that one! Have you tried it yet?"
"Nah. But let me know how it tastes."
"For sure!"
A much-needed silence filled the air, both of you desperately trying to hide the fact that you were fighting for your next breath. A bright red '4' filled your vision and you groaned, throwing your head back.
"Gods, these stairs go on forever."
"Tell me about it." He hissed shakily. His eyes wandered to your slightly trembling arm holding your dinner. "Do you want me to hold that?"
"Oh, no, I'm okay." You subtly wiped the sweat beading your brow. "My floor's coming up. Thank you though."
"What floor do you live on? If you don't mind me asking."
"The 6th!"
6th...?
"Me too."
"Really? I'm surprised I never saw you around though. I’d definitely remember someone as cu—“ You coughed suddenly, rubbing a fist into your chest. "C-Cool as you!"
That... wasn't much better.
As you proceeded to curse the day you were born, furled golds and narrowed blues widened in disbelief before softening into a bashful smile.
"T-Thank y--
"Oh look, our floor!"
With a hop, skip, and a step, you bounded up the last flight of stairs and swung the hefty metal door, your frame teetering on the loose door handle.
"After you." You gestured grandly, giggles flitting between the two of you. He raced up the last of the steps and grabbed the edge of the door a little ways past your head, pulling it gently from your grasp.
"No, after you."
"Why, thank you, um..."
"Oh! Link." He stuck his hand out, a boyish grin splitting his lips. "My name is Link."
"Link?" You took his hand. “It's nice to meet you. I'm (F/N)."
"(F/N)..." You hated how your heart swooned just now. "What a cute name."
You canned the need to scream into the void as you slinked through the threshold, laughter alight. You waltzed to the crossroad leading to the separate wings on your floor. “I’m going this way. What about you?”
“I'm heading that way too.”
"O-Oh, okay!"
He strode to your side and you descended down the long hallway, the silence stiffening your throat. It felt... kinda weird knowing where he lived or vice versa; your eyes flitted to the wall's yellowed moulding, a path your eyes had taken hundreds of times.
You rounded a corner; so did he. You trailed along the gentle bend in the hallway; he did as well. Your heart started to race. A prickle of doubt heated your chest as you approached your door. He wasn't following you... was he?
When's he gonna turn when's he gonna turn when's he gonna turn when's he gonna
"You're my neighbor?!" Heads whipped around to catch the other's surprised gaze. A stiff laugh cracked between the two of you and you creaked your gazes away.
"W-Well." You coughed out. "Um, goodnight..."
"N-Night.."
Your bodies slipped past your respective thresholds and softly clicked the door shut. You sunk your body into the door; the thick metal drew the extra heat from your back, but it did little to remedy the red in your cheeks. Knees wobbling, your frame slid down, down, down onto your doormat as you cradled your face in your hands, heart thundering in your ears.
It was almost loud enough to drown out what was undoubtedly tapping on the wall.
You clambered to your feet, plopped your nearly forgotten dinner on your countertop, and skated to the source of the sound, pressing your ear against the drywall with bated breath.
There it was again!
You returned his taps with the same level of enthusiasm. If you listened past your drumming heart, you could trick yourself into thinking you heard a laugh. You giggled as well, heart fluttering at your newfound, totally-platonic-and-definitely-not-love-laced relationship you managed to foster all in one night. A tight knot ached your sides and your belly protested loudly.
Oh right! Your pilaf!

FSR rambles 19 traumatic things Link experianced
Pet him like a cat shadow.
At least Link's normal enough to get up now.
Awkward...
Shadow's like "Damn this is weird"
Link's selectively mute still but I'd struggle to talk with four dipshits screaming like cracked out squirrels in my head too so ya know, I don't even blame him for being shitty at communication with Shadow rn.
He's got his priorities in order: FOOD.
Okay but you know Link is mad his plan failed literally the day after he employed it.
I'd be pissed anyway XDDDD
The four of em fell asleep, wake back up and they're right back to square one, ground zero the shit storm he tried to escape from.
That's horrifying in a way I can't quite articulate. "Hopelessness" is the only word coming to mind. Like, everything he did, it didn't matter. It was all for nothing they're BACK to how they were.
His hopes that pulling the sword would fix it: Crushed.
The literal only difference is that Shadow's here.
Which, is BETTER but damn if the disappointment from Link isn't palpable. You can only imagine what's going through his head rn after all this shit, he's just defaulting to a LITTLE BIT of normalcy in making breakfast.
Shadow's back to defaulting to doing: well nothing.
He isn't helping Link and is just WATCHING. Smth literally just yesterday was ALL HE COULD DO.
They're both just defaulting to what they're used to because this shit is too weird.
Is nice of Link to make enough for Shadow though. XD
Haha okay I can get into this:
Literally Shadow and Link simultaneously know each other and don't.
In cannon: Shadow said ONE SENTANCE TO THIS MAN. A SINGLE THING. AND IT WAS MOCKING HIM LMFAO.
Yes Shadow had interaction with the colors but Link and Shadow: Nothing.
So of course he feels awkward around him.
They spent forever together and yet still feel so far away.
It's a tough situation.
Link pulling out the "you sure are quiet" is imo, him trying to be funny.
he continues with "thought you'd be more comfortable with me...at least considering how many times we've kissed"
Obviously this is in reference to Vio lmfao (...Also green but uh we'll get into that later). With Link's eyes matching Vio's.
Link is completely fucking with him and it's funny to me at least. Like he's so deadpan but he's being such a goof rn.
Though it is interesting to note how Link directly says Vio is him without any separation here. Since Vio also thought he was Link last night.
WHY WOULDN'T HE REMEMBER SMOOCHING YA SHADOW???
Shadow clearly not knowing HOW Link works is kinda hilarious but also, nobody knows how this works.
Link casually referencing what Vio said in the fire temple, it's much more obvious now he's goofing with Shadow rn.
Shadow realizing the obvious, that Link IS the same person he's been hanging around just mashed together is a small but good reminder. Like link isn't a stranger fully. He's still the four of them.
Shadow just asking "Is this for me" would seem weird but uhh remember:
He didn't have a BED. He's been a SHADOW for YEARS. Like. Shadow being neglected isn't new. So it's a sad notion but he is shocked he'd be given food.
Link kinda having a "Wtf u mean? duh it's for you." moment.
Also the bomb drop that Link knows about Dark Link...Oops.
Exactly what relationship/how he KNOWS about Dark is kinda, left open since he doesn't elaborate what so ever...
It can be assumed he just knows what everyone else does. Buuut. There's always that "but"
"Link what are you blabbing for they can hear you" - Shadow continuing to not understand how Link works. XD
I don't think it was mentioned anywhere before this but haha Blue was also in on the splitting Link plan. Vio and Red are the only ones left out of some of the loop it seems...But they were mainly worried about Vio catching on.
Link accuratly noting this nightmare isn't anything like the first time. Sorry buddy it's cause you're in an unrated comic by a weirdo fan vs any official Zelda comic. XDDD Which wouldn't allow 90% of what's in this comic I'm sure haha.
Also reasonable train of thought thought Shadow buddy about reverting back into a shadow. What a terrifying thought.
Aw Link's being sweet and- TRIFORCE
Yeah Shadow's sweating bullets considering uh the little fact Ganon said "Here catch, you're evil triforce of power man now"
Takes Link a second to remember back on that convo Shadow and Vio had about the triforce in the flashbacks. PG 179-182 ish if you're curious on brushing up on that.
Oh hi Vio.
I don't think a lot of people caught that this was Vio's design from FS. Which is why Shadow was SO DISTURBED to see him like that. Link's very all over the place mentally and it's showing with his appearance. He's unstable as all hell right now.
Blue chiming in with "Wait a damn minute" remembering Zelda ALSO has the Triforce on her hand.
Vio and Red are being obtuse/ignorant while Blue and Green know smth's up and are getting pissy about it.
Which just makes Link: All over the damn spectrum of emotion about this right now haha.
I'd get tonal whiplash too Shadow.
Link going down the list of things he thought Shadow would want haha.
and Shadow's gay lil confession that all he really wants is Link is sweet.
I mean what else does he have to strive for? He gave up on a lot of his old dreams as pointless after becoming apart of the endless cycle of hatred.
It's noteworthy that Link's outfit glitches to black again.
The line "Which you" was a very fun one to come up with. Because it just, hits ya.
Link isn't one entity. He's multiple. And he literally can't tell who Shadow's talking to in that moment. Because the underlying assumption (To Link and this will become obvious) is that Shadow really only cares about Vio.
All of last night is probably a complete blur/emotional whiplash around Shadow For Link.
Shadow threw a sword at Blue and was VERY hostile, was ALL OVER THE PLACE emotionally with Green mostly being bitter as hell, didn't really acknowledge red and Vio had a complete meltdown over his guilt surrounding Shadow and their friendship and relationship as a whole was all over the place.
Cram that all back together and what is Link supposed to take away from all that. Overall dude had a net negative experience with Shadow and now he's telling him he wants him?
I'd be confused as hell too.
Hi Zelda.
Safe to say that was inevitable given how badly Link was bugging out this entire time.
He couldn't handle seeing Zelda haha.
I don't think people caught Vio is just in his "headspace" outfit. Except it isn't pastel color palette.
Panic attack, featuring Blue. He was the most vocally insistent they draw the sword, was activly trying to force his way out of Link's mish mash body during that whole ordeal. The main take away is that: He HATES being In Link and that was just about the worst nightmare come to life for him.
He doesn't even want Red to touch him, which considering the way it's all but stated Link's magical body is just their bodies pressed together into one form makes the angle that they're all LITERALLY touching each other that much more...ehhh disturbing.
It's okay guys he just needs a minute alone-
Hah. Everyone's leaving you Vio. Doesn't press on the ol anxieties or anything.
Doesn't make it easy for a certain someone to come visit you.
Vio's insecurities focusing around being ALONE and himself are smth that's been fun.
He mainly wants to be Link out of pure selfishness and self hatred. Link is an escape from his own accountability, a way for him to keep himself in check. While Blue finds it to be an outright prison.
Everything Dark is saying about here Vio could also be applied to himself and even Dark says that. He looks miserable while saying it too since Vio's problems are starting to hit a lot closer to home.
At least we got Shadow to yank Vio out of his funk. But Dark has no one to do that for him.
Shadow petting Vio's face here while in a headlock is just, funny to me. Shadow can't affection properly at all lmfao.
But hey he knows when our lil buddy is active. Oops.
Oh the fun they have together alright. 😏
It'll be a real wet and fun time-
What the hell Dark is talking about is left pretty open for now.
But he is getting sick of just sad reactions to what he says.
He's nervous when faced with women. Same bro.
Green and Shadow begging for help on wtf to do with their new squid monster is pretty hilarious to me.
Vio's being perceptive.
"IT IS!?" yeah red. And if you were an interesting character I'd write you doing things. :D
HAH. TRAUMA. DARK LINK RELATED TRAUMA.
Surely that won't bite us in the ass later or anything...
Vio's outfit is very covered up because he's emotionally closed off yada yads I've mentioned this before.
This hasn't been brought up in the comic but Green is afraid of tentacles lmfao so his fear at Dark rn is warranted.
Shadow blatantly not caring what Dark is doing rn because he's busy
Zelda notices right away that Dark defied vaati which must have been weird for her in real time hah.
Shadow's instant response to what to do with Dark is "Murder"
Nice to see you've grown so much shadow lmfao.
Notice how Link being around isn't even the thinly vailed excuse dude just doesn't like Dark Link lmfao. Most of what he said to Dark last night imo was pure projection and again: Not because he cared about Dark. But now he feels like they have an easy to to get rid of him via Zelda. Doesn't have to confront weird feelings if the guy is gone ooomf.
Zelda isn't outright apposed to getting rid of Dark Link but is like "Uhh...But what about link tho-"
Shadow noticed his hair change.
I'm sure he noticed earlier, it's right in his eye sight but background detail of him actually looking at it like "Wtf?"
Also fun pressure to put on Green when he's strung out to shit rn.
HI DARK LINK! :D
Uhhhhhh. Okay then.
So Green's got murder trauma.
He's also just sick of the responsibilities piling on him like a crushing weight.
There's smth to be said about how Dark isn't a murderer so, doesn't have blood around his feet haha visual metaphores haha.
So clarity: Link as a whole person murdered the people who killed his father. And Vio and Green were the ones who had main control in that moment.
Hope that clears some stuff up.
Dark finds this shit hilarious because he's sadistic but Green snaps out of the panic to realize THIS GUY IS DARK LINK.
The moment Green switches from his helpless attire into his current fit was very fun emotionally cause this was the first time someone had ANY amount of control when facing Dark Link. (Excluding Shadow I suppose, in terms of the colors anyway)
Green being a badass is just smth I enjoy and the "Oh shit moment" was very fun to watch people react to haha.
Dark was so excited when seeing Green acknowledge him.
It really goes to show all of his "Nyeh you're such a shitty person" talk is literally not even his own opinion when it comes to the four colors. He's literally just repeating their insecurities and nothing else. Those words have NO BITE to them because Dark doesn't even believe it.
He's so excited to see Green because Green's the ONLY PERSON Who's truly acknowledged him in the head space.
Dark being so overwhelmed with joy he vomits.
Dark really doesn't have a lot of emotional regulation emotionally or physically. Like. The idea here is he's just, so excited he literally physically cannot handle that shit haha. I made a shitpost about it once but it's kinda just, accurate. XD
Green's like "Wtf is wrong with you"
because this isn't ANYTHING he thought he'd be dealing with considering how Shadow was acting/talking about him lmfao.
He was expecting Shadow 2.0 and got...This guy.
Guy who apologizes when acting goofy as shit
Guy who is excited to see him overjoyed even...After utterly destroying him not 2 seconds ago.
Just. A silly. Goofy guy.
It is fun to have Dark switch IMEDIATELY to depressed as hell thinking about how he's been so alone.
I would really describe Dark's excitement here as pure mania. because at the root Dark is a depressed individual.
Dark gives no shits when faced with death.
No begging or pleading for his life just "idk do what you want to I don't care"
Which, Dark Link's lack of care for his own personal safety has been shown off before and will only be a continued trend.
At the end of the day it shows a clear lack of self respect or care for himself.
Dark doesn't value himself.
Green's mercy here is rooted in his own selfishness.
He doesn't WANT to kill Dark Link because he doesn't want to hurt people. Which him and Vio did.
Green is ALSO very exhausted. And what you get is two individuals who would typically be at each other's throats, who aren't interested in fighting each other because they're just so worn out. The drive just isn't there.
Which leads them to being able to actually talk to each other in a meaningful way. And I just find that interesting.
Under different circumstances, these two very well could have fought here. XD

So uhm... So SO sorry bout not posting yesterday, got sidetracked and forgot! lol
So you guy's are getting yesterday's post, today!
SHRINE OF RESURRECTION
So, I guess the best place to start this rewrite, would be where we start the first game. The Shrine of Resurrection!
[TW: Ghosts, implied death, memory loss]
How we begin:
During the start of the game, rather than waking up via Zelda telepathically invading Link's brain and telling him to wake up, as we don't see her do this outside of the Great Platou, I decided to remove it altogether. It just seems weird overall, given how we see her do this a few times and then never again in both BOTW & TOTK.
Instead, during the opening moments, the Shrine of Resurrection is seen malfunctioning, and then releasing Link as a precautionary measure. This would be my reasoning as to why Link loses his memories, and is so weak when exiting the shrine.
Design:
Overall, I think the shrine would look relatively the same, except inside there would be some minor cracking due to the malfunction, along with the lights fading in and out as if trying to warn Link to get out.
On the outside of the shrine, I imagine there would be a lot more overgrowth. With vines covering the entrance like in TOTK. There would likely be more shrubbery and even more trees, but we would still get the overview shot of the land like in the OG game.
The King/Old Man
While I wouldn't remove the old man entirely, similar to Zelda telepathically speaking to Link, we don't see any other ghost take a physical form of any sort for the rest of the game, or in any game prior. I wouldn't have a problem if we saw other ghosts take a physical form, but we don't.
So, instead, I would still have the old man, but he would be in a ghost form, but we would still get the King reveal. This sorta keeps the original intention, while removing the awkward factor of, how the heckity heck he did that.
First new character:
Yes, I am going to add new characters, this is my Rewrite, and I'm doing what I want!
All joking aside though, we don't really get an explanation of how where supposed to receive heart containers and Stamina Vessels in the main game, so I decided to rectify that here.
The character I'm adding is a female ghost named _el_a, who would look to be in her late thirties to early forties. She would be in a long robe that covered the entirety of her body, and her face would be obscured.
She would be found in the Temple of Time praying to the goddess statue, and would help introduce the side quest mechanics. She would ask you to grab certain items to leave as offerings to the statue, which would be obtained in the mini dungeon on the Platou, effectively introducing two new mechanics, in one fell swoop.
She would only be able to be seen during the opening section, and after leaving the Platou for the first time, would disappear. But if Link visits her one last time before leaving, you would get a special cutscene, with the women asking you that, ”if you see her daughter, to tell her daughter that she loves her very much, and is very proud of her.” before disappearing.
Anyways, hope y'all have a wonderful day or night! Stay safe and hydrated folks!

Legend of Zelda AU (or more specifically, a Breath of The Wild AU) where Simon is Link- reserved, confident, never speaking, maybe a bit more intimidating than Link but you get the idea- and reader works at the stables. Not up front, but back with the horses- taking care of them, watching the dogs that seem to have decided they live there, ect.
Your family lived up in Hebra- maybe they even ran the stable as a family business- but regardless you work in the Tabatha Snowfield Stable.
It was arguably the most secluded and out of the way stable in Hyrule, and maybe you choose it for that very reason. The only passer-through you regularly saw was the rare traveler taking the northern route to Rito village or adventurous type looking to take on the Hebra Mountains. Not to mention, there was a distinct off-season at Snowfield Stable. When it snowed nearly year-round, winter became a whole new beast for those not used to it.
You’d always had an easier time connecting with animals than other people, so it seemed only Nate for you to take up a more behind-the-scenes position at the stable, which is how you ended up in charge of caring for the horses boarded there.
And one day, you’re just doing your job- brushing a horse’s coat as you hum idly to yourself, not even noticing the hulking man coming up behind you until he’s right beside you.
You’re nearly startled enough to yelp, but you manage to hold onto your composure. You try to kindly direct the man to the front desk for help, receiving only a grunt in response.
You’re not quite sure what you’re supposed to do- or what he wants, so the two of you stand in an awkward silence for a moment, staring at eachother (well, you stare at him. He stares at the horses).
When he reaches out his hand towards the horse, you nearly trip over yourself trying to make sure he doesn’t do anything to agitate her.
“I’m sorry sir, we’re boarding her for her owner, if you could just-“
But you cut yourself off when you realize all he’s doing is giving her a good rub on her neck. Understanding thaws your guarded exterior and your posture relaxes as you smile softly. You step closer, and now it’s the man’s turn to tense up. But you gently take his hand, simply moving it a bit farther up on the mare’s neck.
“She really likes when you rub up here.” You say, flashing him a warm smile.
And just like that, the man is stuck staring at you with a warmth on his cheeks long after you turn back to the horse, stroking her coat and existing contentedly in the silence between you two.
He was used to people looking at him in many ways- expectation, distrust, suspicion, fear- he hardly knew who he was, just the shell of a man haunted by memories that belonged to another. The expectations placed on him belonged to whoever he was before. He’d simply woken up and had the literal weight of the world shoved onto his shoulders.
He wasn’t a fool, he knew what he looked like- and he knew that his hesitation to speak often only furthered people’s suspicion of him. But seeing someone treat him not as Hyrule’s hero and look past his… rough appearance meant more to him than anything Impa, King Rhoam, or the princess’s voice echoing in his head could ever.
#link who didn’t fucking ask to be the hero of Hyrule >>>#I love when people write botw link as not not really wanting the responsibility that was thrust onto him#or in a way where it’s very clear that new link and old link are not the same#not a tears of the kingdom AU because I like the idea of Simon having no clue who he even really is#and making a friend out of reader as they bond over their shared soft sides to animals#anyways this might be a larger AU#so I’ll make it a tag#Legend of Zelda AU#fem!reader#simon ghost riley x fem!reader#simon ghost riley x reader

Golden Sand
Princess Zelda of the Gerudo is the reincarnation of the Goddess of the Sand. Link of the Gerudo is the first Gerudo born in one hundred years after Ganondorf. On his eighteenth birthday, he is sent to Zelda to assess whether he is a threat. The consensus ?
He is a threat.
Read first chapter on AO3 here
Read previous chapter on AO3 here
One thing about Link was that he thrived on routines.
While growing up, sticking to a set routine daily gave him some peace from the constant isolation he faced. Now, with the uncertainty that came with living in the palace, routines kept him going. The other servants took note of how he excelled in his routines, working hard daily and keeping his head down. It was this low lying way of this that began attracting the servants to him.
The first servant approached him while he cleaned one of the hallways. He had been sweeping the dust first before mopping, and he turned to see a servant about his age standing nervously by him.
“Um, good morning,” she squeaked out.
“Oh, good morning,” he replied, blinking.
“I want to say that you do such a good job cleaning the floors! We have been wondering what your secret is.”
Link stared at her in confusion, which caused her to laugh nervously.
“Sorry, this must be strange. We’ve all been . . . scared to approach you.”
She puffed her chest out in confidence.
“But I need to know what your secret is! I’ve been dying to know.”
She listened while he carefully explained, and her eyes were sparkling when he was done.
“Oh! That’s so simple! Can I help you today?”
After the first encounter, more servants began speaking to him. They began asking to sit with him during meals, asking about his day and cracking jokes. It took him a week to realize that he had friends for the first time. The realization made his days seem brighter and he looked forward to speaking to each new friend.
The first servant who approached him, who he learned was named Mattison, always made sure to greet him whenever they saw each other. He learned her mother was also a servant in the palace, and she was excited to follow in her footsteps. Link also learned she lacked a filter, which led to a few awkward conversations.
“Hey, Link? You really don’t seem like a threat at all.”
The two were sitting in the courtyard, taking their lunch break. She bit into an apple, glancing at him from the corner of her eyes.
“Um, thanks?”
She sighed, shaking her head.
“Sorry, there I go running my mouth again! What I meant is, I’ve heard about you being the lone Gerudo man and how you were dangerous. But I’ve never felt scared around you.”
He didn’t know how to respond. Mattison took another bite from her apple before slowly cocking her head to the side.
“Sorry, did I say something wrong?”
“No, I just . . . I’ve never had anyone say that to me.”
Her expression fell. She hesitated before speaking again.
“What was your childhood like?”
Link sighed, crossing his arms as he thought about the proper way to reply.
“I have very loving parents. They did a wonderful job making me feel wanted. But outside of my home it was very isolating. No one ever acknowledged me.”
Mattison placed her hand gently over Link’s, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I got into a lot of fights in school because I was bullied. My poor mother was patient and always cleaned my wounds when I got home. She never scolded me.”
“I’m sorry,” she murmured. “Everyone has been so horrible to you.”
Link felt his throat constrict. He looked away, closing his eyes as he willed the tears to not fall.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
A few other servants mirrored the gesture, stopping him to apologize and thanking him for his hard work. He was hoping that their goodwill would extend to Zelda, who was still acting distant towards him. Even though they had seemingly worked well together, her attitude towards him was still the same. Whenever the two crossed paths, she never acknowledged him. He always made sure to bow his head, acknowledging her presence. But she never bothered to even look in his direction.
Buliara announced the following Monday that Link’s duties were changing and that he was going to be serving the Queen directly. He expected it would be another day taking notes for Zelda. After breakfast, he was indeed led to her throne room, and he was ushered inside. She sat on her throne already, speaking quietly to her personal guards before turning to look at Link. They studied each other quietly as he sunk into a bow.
“Come take notes, Link.”
Once the citizens had finished expressing their worries, he was dismissed for lunch. Mattison immediately sought him out, asking about the Queen and what she was like up close.
“I’ve only seen her from a distance, but she is so beautiful.”
Link cleared his throat, trying to keep his cheeks from warming.
“She is . . . rather attractive.”
Instead of returning to the throne room, he was taken to Zelda’s personal courtyard. It was outside of her private quarters, and where she spent most of her afternoon. When Link entered, she was sitting on a bench under palm trees. She was basking in the shade, eyes closed as her servants fanned her gently.
It was the quintessential picture of royalty.
He sank into a bow and waited for her to address him. It took a few minutes before she did, barking out his name and asking him to stand and come to her. Link did so, coming to a stop in front of her. Her eyes were narrowed as she eyed him up and down.
“From henceforth, you are to serve me without question. Understood?”
Her tone was much different than that morning, and Link’s heart sank as he realized she was retreating back to her previous attitude towards him.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
She glanced over her shoulder and took the fan from one of the guards.
“Here, come take her place and fan me.”
Link took the fan and began fanning, keeping pace with the other guard. After about twenty minutes Zelda stood, turning to look at him.
“I am going to take a nap. Go to the kitchen and inquire about dinner.”
Thus began Link’s new routine. He was essentially Zelda’s errand boy, running around the palace to gather her belongings as she traveled from one part to another. The only peaceful part of his new “job” was taking notes when she held court, and it was the only time she was civil towards him.
Despite how annoyed and exhausted he was from running around all day, the silver lining was he was getting to explore new parts of the palace. He had yet to go into Zelda’s personal quarters, but he was given access to more restricted areas of the palace and was even given permission to use the secret passageways. There had been a few times he had scared Zelda when emerging from one, holding two pairs of sandals or clothing he had picked up from the royal tailor. She had scolded him endlessly, asking him if he was trying to kill her by causing a heart attack.
“My apologies, Your Majesty,” he would reply. “I have brought what you requested of me.”
Mattison still made sure to check on him, frowning when she asked how his new job was going.
“I’ve heard the Queen has you running around all day. Are you okay?”
He had shrugged, keeping his eyes on his bowl of rice.
“What can I do? I’m under her orders, I can’t disobey her.”
Her frown had deepened.
“Still, she should have some mercy on you.”
As long as Queen Zelda needed something, Link would be at her mercy.
Unbeknownst to Link, Zelda was aware of all of the gossip regarding her servants. She had several servants who were responsible for reporting news to her, as it helped to ensure there weren’t any traitors in the midst. Most of the gossip was harmless, usually servants fighting over the same man or getting themselves into vices. It was rare that gossip reached her that was troublesome, and she enjoyed hearing the gossip.
However, word began to get to her that Link was beginning to become popular with the servants. It had begun with Mattison, who was the daughter of one of her handmaidens. Her conversation had paved the way for the others to begin to warm up to Link, and she had even seen how they all rushed to him during breaks or greeted him as he walked by. Part of the reason she had assigned him to work with her was to keep him away from the other servants for their safety.
“I do not understand how he is charming them!”
Zelda was in her bedroom, arms crossed as she sat in front of her vanity. Her right hand woman was named after a previous Gerudo sage named Nabooru. She was ten years Zelda’s senior and had served her mother as well. Despite her young age, she was wise beyond her years and came from a lineage of royal advisors.
“From what I’ve heard, he hasn’t done anything. The servants feel sympathy for him, and have found that he is no different than them.”
“Sympathy? Do they not remember Ganondorf?”
Nabooru sighed, shaking her head.
“It is a new generation, Your Majesty.”
It was Zelda’s turn to sigh.
“Our legends aren’t legends, but stories. Ganondorf was a real man. If it hadn’t been for the Hero of Time, Hyrule would be much different. We Gerudo would have been ostracized, and our fates would have been much worse.”
“I know, Your Majesty.”
Zelda turned around to look at Nabooru.
“It has to be some omen that he is the first man born since Ganondorf. No good can come from that. It was the original intention that the man would be a savior for us, but look how that turned out.”
Nabooru was silent, refusing to respond.
“You think me paranoid.”
Nabooru’s eyes went wide.
“No, Your Majesty. Of course not.”
Zelda shook her head, getting up to move across the room and sit on the edge of her bed.
“My mother warned me about him. She received a vision that a man would be born, but she was never told by the Goddess about his nature. The last thing she told me before she left was to keep an eye on him.”
“Has the Goddess of the Sand given you any warnings?”
Zelda recalled the one and only time that Link had attended the Ritual of the Sand. Her memories when she channeled the Goddess were fuzzy at the moment, but came clearer to her once she had gotten some rest. The only thing the Goddess had said was that his destiny would soon appear. What exactly did that mean? Was it supposed to be some warning?
“No, nothing at all.”
Nabooru came to stand in front of Zelda, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Then perhaps you have nothing to worry about.”
Zelda scowled, crossing her arms petulantly.
“Perhaps we are fools and are trusting that man too much.”
“Or perhaps we are fools for not trusting him at all.”

Eldritch Moon - P 1
“There’s going to be a Blood Moon tonight,” Zelda says over dinner as if this is all the facts they need. Wild has commandeered an arm, nuzzling absently at it between bites. She ignores him as if this, too, is normal.
“Blood…moon?” Twilight shakes his head, still shooting side glances at Warriors, who sits as far away as he can get. “I’m not too familiar with that.”
She shoves a spoonful of mashed potatoes in her mouth. “Maybe it’s just something in our time,” she mumbles as she chews. Definitely no princess manners here. “It’s a leftover of the Calamity. Used to happen every month, but now it’s been pretty random. I think it’s getting less over time but,” she shrugs.
Wild pats his captured arm.
“But what is it?” Wind waves a fork, nearly flinging his carrot chunk. “And what’s it got to do with Twi?”
“The Blood Moon brings the Calamity’s monster back to life. It’s dark magic. Wild here,” she holds up her captured arm and the champion growls slightly, pulling it back. “He’s affected by the magic so I’ll ask you to stay with me tonight. As for your Twilight…I don’t know enough to say. Have you encountered dark magic before?”
Twilight’s wolf form is clearly at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts.
“I dun know what came over me,” he mumbles at his plate. “Twas a right mess in ma head and I just…” The rancher shoots another look at his friend. “Sorry, Wars.”
Warriors waves it off, but the wary look remains. “Don’t worry, Hyrule was there to help. But ah…” he turns to Zelda. “Is that going to happen again tonight?”
“I don’t know.” With a sigh, she pushes her potatoes across her plate. “I know how to deal with Wild, but I’m not sure about your rancher. My divinity from Hylia acts as a shield. If it doesn’t keep away the magic, Twilight, it might be best if you join Link outside.”
Time frowns and leans forward. “What do you mean outside?”
“Oh, usually I let Link go outside Kakariko Village. There’s plenty of open land for him to run around in and no one around except monsters.”
“Um.” Hyrule starts to raise his hand on instinct, then pulls it down at the odd looks. “Wild is…not a dog?”
She stares back impassively. “No, he’s not.”
When she doesn’t elaborate, Hyrule subsides. Legend, sitting next to him, bumps his shoulder. Dinner continues with awkward conversation. Wild seems to be slowly losing interest in Zelda’s arm and glancing increasingly at the door.
