A/N: Thank you so much for the request!! i am so sorry this took so long, i've had a lot of school work to do and i have been INSANLY busy. i'll try to get these next requests out as fast as i can.

Angry to say the least

not the type to verbally or physically show that anger in anyway though, you you probably won't figure out he's angry at your Aunt

VERY eager to change the heart of your aunt.

you mean the world to him, so the fact that someone treated you with such disrespect has him seething.

when he's not Phantom Thieving, he's making sure to give you attention and affection, and is always pretty carful not to yell around you regardless of what the situation might be

sometimes even goes as far as to make sure his friends don't yell around you

Akira did not have a short temper, and it took a lot to truly make him angry.

Somehow your aunt had turned the usually cool headed teenager into one filled with one filled with anger to say the least.

He had been hesitant at first. Changing a person's heart was a permanent thing, and he didn't want you to make the decision just because you were angry. But as soon as you told him the story as to why you felt your dear Aunts heart should be changed, he was eager and ready to do it.

he put it at the top of his priority list. he ignored most of his other memento requests, instead deciding that the specific request you had given him was the most important thing in the world.

He made sure check up on you as the change of heart was in progress, taking you out around town, and making you coffee so you could have a break from your family. he new the best thing for you would be to take your mind off the situation until it was resolved.

Goro Akechi~

Not typically one to change hearts, but he's willing to do it for you

his anger is a lot more visible, especially when he sees how much it scared you

as soon as you tell him the story, he is making comments.

"How could your Aunt do that to you?" "Your aunt is obviously the problem here." "She sounds like a real pain"

it takes a lot to hold back when confronting your aunt, especially because killing people is basically muscle memory for him, but thinking of you keeps him in line

It wasn't often you came to Goro in tears. And every time you did he dreaded it.

In his eyes you were so perfect. the Personification of joy and happiness and love, and it made no sense to him that anyone could ever yell at you.

when he found out what your Aunt had done he could feel anger coursing through him like blood.

He was delicate with you as he held you, making sure not to scare you anymore than you already were.

Of course he wanted to help you. but helping others wasn't something he was particularly good at. He would try his hardest anyway, if it meant he could hear you laugh, see you smile.

He would do anything to make you happy.

Ann Takamaki~

She understands exactly how your feeling.

she had been yelled at the same way as you, and it made her angry that someone as kind and loving as you had to experience that.

quick to tell Akira of your situation, and really presses on the Phantom Thieves about fulfilling your request.

She takes you out on crepe dates and invites you to come to her modelling sessions so you can take your mind off of the situation until its fixed.

As soon as Ann heard your story, her once present smile faded.

First Shiho, and now you? it broke her heart.

She held you close for a second, her eyes welling up. She quickly wiped them away, before letting you go. this time she would be strong enough to protect you. and that was a promise.

it seemed like all the people around her lately were sad. she new she needed to fix the situation. She sent Akira a quick text, explaining your situation, before asking to take you out for crepes.

Uhm. Another P5 characters with P4 plot au. This one with Makoto-Goro siblings

I'm off my ADHD meds for a little bit so my mind is running wild again so here's another au.

The wildcard is Akira/Joker here. He's staying with Sojiro and Futaba while his family is on a world traveling cruise for a year.

Star is Morgana. He's, more like P5 Morgana. A cat.

Magician? Futaba! She's basically Inaba's only tech support, and takes a lot of crap for being so "obsessed" with something that's "ruining the youth"

Chariot Ann for this one. She plays volleyball, moved to Inaba the year before, has a girlfriend back in Tokyo. She's hoping to get to see her at tournaments.

Priestess Yusuke! His mom, Sayuri, runs the Inaba Gallery, which holds cultural art and pieces about the town's history. He has been spending more time running tours since her illness has spiked. (Transmasc Yusuke)

Emperor Ryuji! He's misunderstood. Wants to protect his Ma, but everyone just sees the violence they saw in his dad. He's also coming to terms with being bi

Lovers Haru. She's a celebrity chef, taking a year off from being a baking show host after a ton of threatening letters, and a break in while she was away from home. So she's staying with her Uncle Munehisa Iwai and cousin Kaoru, helping out at their airsoft and hunting shop

And. Fortune Makoto. But gimme a sec to explain that one

Instead of one detective Prince? This au has TWO!! The Detective Princes, the Akechi twins; Goro Akechi, the charmer, runs a sweets blog, the Hunger Arcana. And Makoto Akechi, the silent broodier twin, the lonelier brother, the Fortune Arcana

Now let's talk specifics. Makoto is AFAB, female at birth. After their parents up and left, Makoto started pretending to be Goro's brother to be "safer". Then, it felt good. But, not quite right. (Non-binary Makoto.) They haven't thought about it since they started binding and taking T, at 15. There's other issues at play

Makoto doesn't know who they are anymore. All anyone sees of them is Goro's twin, the little brother, the shadow to the much more beloved Prince. They swallow down anxiety pills each morning, trying to erase the shake they feel in front of the camera. It doesn't ease the sting of their brother's harsh words

Goro wears his outfit from canon. Makoto has a similar coat, but instead of tan it's dark blue. Black pants, black boots to his black dress shoes. No headband. Less bangs. They keep their hair shorter than Goro's. To help pretend to be his brother. It's choppy, a little wild, and when it's wet from the rain it sticks up all over. They have a custom Breton style cap (it's like a police cap), it's dark blue, black, has a bright blue fist on the part where a badge would go.

They start to split more and more as the story goes on. It really strikes when Makoto starts at Yasogami, and Goro continues on playing the adult. After Makoto is saved from the TV, they move out of their apartment, living in the spare room in the Kitagawa home

Anyways that's the outline under the cut will be extra stuff I've come up with

Makoto, post being rescued, lying out by the Samegawa riverside, late at night, hat beside them just. Watching the stars

Haru lies beside them. Doesn't say a word. But, she takes their hand

Makoto: ...do you think I'm doing any good with the group?

Haru: of course you are, why would you ask that?

Makoto: ...

Haru: oh, your fight with Ryuji.

Makoto: it, did he say it was a fight?

Haru: he seemed upset like it was one. What happened?

Makoto: ...he asked me out. But, I don't know, it didn't feel right. I can't tell what he thinks I am, *who* he thinks I am. But, I know it's not who I want to be

Haru: he doesn't think of you as a girl. None of us do

Makoto: but he sees me as a guy.

Haru: ...and that's not you? You're neither?

Makoto: I'm, that's an option?

She's holding one of Makoto's hands to her thigh, just under where her skirt rests, the other is on their stomach. Makoto's remaining hand is buried in bright curls, and they're panting, Haru giggling as she sprinkles kisses to their jaw

Makoto's mind is spinning so fast. Only thought being "Haru". Haru is having fun turning her stiff little detective into affectionate mush

In Persona 5, my two favorite ships are

-> Akiren+Haru; she wants to make a cafe and he can cook, and they're cute as HELL together. I love the thought of them opening a cafe together~ Plus, Haru can be TERRIFYING when she wants to be, and I love the thought of her being sweet on her man one moment, then sweetly threatening to gut his enemies, the next. :D

-> Akiren+Akechi; I can't help it, they vibe so well with each other. I doubt they'd have the healthiest relationship, though. Not toxic, but it'd be toeing the line something fierce, I think. I think their flirting would look almost exactly like their fighting. And vice versa. You'd never be able to tell from the outside if they're mad at each other or not.

I'm also partial to PolyThieves, because it can be very cute when written well~

If I may offer some bonus ships;

-> FF7 / Cloud+Tifa; Come on that max-rank Gold Saucer date in 7R is ADORABLE as hell, and watching Tifa draw Cloud out of his shell the way she does in Rebirth now and again is just... ugh. I need Remake Finale asap, man. Also if it's not called Reunion I'm gonna be SO mad at Squenix I swear

-> HSR / Caelus+Aventurine; This is a bit of a weird one and I'm anxious as fuck mentioning it because my knowledge of Hoyoverse fandoms is that they can be toxic as fuck, but I just think these two would be really cute together once Aventurine lets his hair/guard down a little. There's some good potential for softness from these two - two guys that never really had a childhood just being soft with each other cause neither really belongs anywhere. Say what you will about Caelus/Trailblazer having the Express Crew, he's still kind of a sore thumb everywhere he goes, just like Aventurine.

And! a Super-Bonus!

-> Akiren+Korra+Asami! (P5+TLOK) This is a crossover ship me and a friend of mine stumbled into liking over on Discord. The idea of Akira meeting Korra is something we really liked, and then we realized they were actually... super cute together? I felt like Akira (at least MY Akira) would just turn to mush over seeing this really fit, really athletic girl with super cool Bending powers that could bench-press him with ease. We also didn't wanna seperate Korra and Asami, so we ultimately decided that all involved parties have more than one hand to hold. So now they're a trio of soft idiots being soft idiots together~ It's silly and probably dumb but I just think they're all super cute together~ ))

The others quickly noticed that (meaning: only Makoto, Haru, Ren and Akechi)

You didn’t, you thought it was just normal

She constantly asks you out and most of the times you say yes

After a while, she stops protecting and helping the others

You had gotten a lot more stronger after infiltrating her palace once you found out about it

It is no surprise that he is stalking you

And he let’s you know too

You got paranoid after the fact that a huge amount of love letters and creepy poems ended up in you mail box

You feel like you are going crazy, because you are sure you are being followed on the streets now as well

He tries to comfort you in anyway he can, so you are back on the rails and keep your persona

He is taking it too far, but he can’t stop doing it. He just loves you so much.

He is having doubts if he should send the photos of you as well that he took when you weren’t looking

Makoto Niijima

Wishes that you would see she is in love with you already

Your will of rebellion and your persona don’t get affected, but hers will

You will notice her change in personality, and notice her persona is slowly changing colors and looks too

At some point, she blurted out that she wants to keep you all to herself

She needs help, and you are more than happy to give it to her

You asked her if she had a palace, to no surprise she does

You stole her heart and she went back to normal, so it’s a happy end :)

Futaba Sakura

It’s hard for her to do anything really

Social anxiety and all

She tries to keep a conversation with you, but only you. No one else is going to be present

You actually help HER will of rebellion and persona get stronger

She just wants to live with you and make you happy, no one will get hurt because of it

She is beginning to learn to tell people to back off though

Might be the worst yandere of all

Literally kidnaps you and kills everyone you know in front of you with her axe so you would fear her and won’t try to run away

She would kill you too if you tried so you would stay with her forever

Well didn't I tell you in the beginning that i am far too busy? Alas I have discovered that when your only free time is late at night, your memory gets iffy. Now I'm not saying I stayed awake for an extra eighteen hours that are now a complete blank, however...

Well not that it's important anyway, I'm afraid that I have forgotten a good majority and due to work simply can't spare the time (unlike Death Note, I do not have the drive to find out whatever it was I watched during those eighteen hour binges), so alas it seems our anime buddy days have come to an end, perchance this may be a lesson in not developing para-social relationships with those you find fascinating online for in the end they will always hurt you. Or something like that, I'm not Cole Sprouse I wouldn't know.

Speaking of which, I'll have you know I'm a very busy man, why would you be distracting me with Anime about Phantom Thieves when I'm supposed to be hunting The Phantom Thieves?

sorry to anyone who finds my more talkative post style on this blog annoying. also sorry to any scouts for projects who have to scroll through all my messy concept sketches in my art tag to find the good stuff. anyways i really want to capture the sort of majesty and elegance that dragons can have as well as their horror and power, i feel like it would represent the unity of akechis two selves very well. to me hes more controlled in his rage and a level of his past sort of reserved nature has returned but in a different kind of way. learning to balance himself in his new life. im reinterpreting all of his symbolism and giving him new symbols. dragons are ferocious and protective and dangerous and loyal and all of these things are things that akechi could be . in another world. like the one im crafting out of macaroni in my mind. i think giving him 1. a quest 2. friends and 3. possibly his own weird time loop shenanigans to deal with would not fix him but it might help him figure out who he is now that his entire life has been destroyed before his eyes and he has to start over from scratch

I HAVE MANY PERSONA AU THOUGHTS mostly about the fellas who aren’t Hikari! I know we love our shadow cursed boy here on the sombrerokiwi blog but I’m curious as to how the other travelers fit in with his story! what’s their deal?

Well we already established at Arn's blog that Ochette is the Wildcard. She's from the Metaverse and looks like a Beastling in there but when she's in the real world Ears and Tail become fake. Basically kind of like Morgana but the cosplay questions go up by 10. We know that Mahina and Akala are Velvet Room guys and we know one of them will disappear after a while. Very concerning.

Osvald was a previous Metaverse Researcher who is now on parole. He got framed for the house fire that killed his family and had to serve in jail for a while before someone found evidence that there may have been foul play and bribery concerning the case. He’s Hikari and Throné’s upstairs neighbor and the first one who learns about Hikari’s Curse and the fact that he can travel to the Metaverse. He’s helping in any way he can and keeping an eye on Hikari because he is very aware of the Lumina Family and the possible ticking time bomb that Hikari has as the Curse. First Confidant member and all that.

Temenos I believe is a PI who is in the city investigating both the arson-murder case in Ku and the Mental Shutdowns. He’s Akechi if Akechi was a little less unhinged. He works for an organization very aware of Shadows and the Metaverse and followed in Roi and Jörg’e footsteps in order to figure out what happened to them. He’s determined and gives Hikari anxiety whenever he mentions the case in Ku. Hikari has a confidant with him and he has to make sure the man doesn’t find out about his identity. He eventually finds out and they become friends don't worry.

Throné was part of the Blacksnakes laying low to escape the life of crime and Hikari’s roommate. Pirro, Scaracci, and Donnie probably live in this au and if anything she’s just trying to get them to quit because this is hell. The life of crime is hell. She and Hikari are besties and she goes and figures out his real identity fast. The Curse she doesn’t find out about until later. She just assumes Hikari has a lot of baggage and helps him through it, something he appreciates. We will have her stab Claude she deserves it. She deserves to stab Father, Mother, and Claude IRL and in the Metaverse.

Castti I believe we had her be involved with the Metaverse but we hadn't expanded much on her admittedly. We know for a fact that her memories were erased due to her trying to stop Trousseau from doing Mental Shutdowns en masse. Perhaps she was apart of another division of the organization Temenos worked in and went MIA. Huh actually that would be a good other reason why Temenos went in there in the first place. She's still Castti but she has no memories and all her team is dead other than Trousseau.

Partitio is an aspiring business man and I don't know much other than that. He is however the Ryuji of "We're the Phantom Thieves" gag and almost everyone who interacts with him in his inner circle knows he's a Phantom Thief. He is also the person who manages to get more than 4 pieces of information from Kazan because there is literally nothing that the Moonshade Order can use to properly spy on him because he keeps telling everyone who he is on accident.

Agnea admittedly I don't know much about. She's a college student for dance. She probably also works at Gil's Place and that's how she and Hikari meet but I don't know much other than that. She's admittedly the odd one out in terms of Metaverse things because 6 of the cast already knew about the Metaverse/had connections with the Moonshade Order and Partitio is becoming the 7th because of his own investigations. I don't know what Agnea will do here.

Anyways @throne-anguis do you have anything to add? Because I'm a bit stumped on Partitio, Ochette, Agnea, and Castti.

Also Bean a lot of Persona stuff is on Arn's blog so if you want to join in on the discussion go there because I've been slightly going ham over there ever since I remembered Persona.

anyway i DO. i DO. i think my Biggest theory at this point is that igor + the velvet room are doing the classic "mentor who the protag assumes is good but is the twist big bad guy at the end who has to be defeated through the power he himself taught him" thing. that's my big conjecture i think at this point it would be wild to assume that the velvet room is just a skinned game mechanic with no plot relevance. if it is ill be mildly distressed.

kasumi i LOVE kasumi. shes so cute im obsessed with her. and also mildly concerned because i also thought akechi was a nice chill guy who didn't raise any red flags. and well ummm.

SAME GOES FOR MARUKI, ACTUALLY. i instinctively distrust him because i also distrust any given school therapist but like... he seems nice. he also makes me pause & hesitate a sec with all the shit about fixing someone's heart, being able to physically interface with that mental/emotional aspect. maybe he's just a chill guy with some interesting research!!!!! nevertheless!!! he's also giving me vaguely similar to akechi 'nice unassuming guy who sometimes has the feel that he Knows Too Much. although it would be insane if there was Another person who knew about the metaverse at shujin.

GOD. i cant stop thinking about the handful of conversations w/ the siu director about how Someone is doing really good about the phantom thieves. he has to be doing something else other than being a teen celebrity-- has to be doing something genuinely useful if he's still there. HATE that he's friends with sae. wondering how that's going to pan out re: the interrogation. also nevertheless even if he was just a kid celebrity id feel soo bad for him he 100% has license to kill. imagine being seventeen (eighteen? he's a year above akira, no?) & being famous & also asked genuinely intellectual and thoughtful questions about current events on live tv that u have to answer in a pleasing manner. + also HOW DOES HE KNOW. THIS IS AN EVIL THING TO ASK ABOUT AKECHI. JESUS CHRIST. This is a complicated question to answer and Akechi is not always being himself but he Often is even when he Is Not. But if we choose to look at it as like … a moment of Unfiltered Honesty. because that’s probably the most interesting way to approach this with akechi. Then it’s. It’s gotta also be the engine room scene but specifically, specifically, when he smiles. When it is just him on the other side of a wall and good lord it’s been so long that I don’t even have the exact sequence of events in that scene seared into my mind but i think it’s in reaction to akira promising to take down shido for him or doing the whole “ill hold on to your glove” (jesuschrist) thing depending on which version of the scene ur playign and he. Fucking! SMILES! THERE! It’s. *punches wall* *like akira in persona 5 the animation, you could say* So anyway if we went with the angle of a moment where akechi is being like, genuinely honest and not putting up any fronts or walls even if they’re half-true or things he believes are true. here's a interesting idea a villain who understands he's a shit person and decides to kill himself as he believes that no one (or he himself) can ever change and views the idea of redemption is a joke or a false narrative

you know what's hilarious is that i realize now this must be in response to an ancient post of mine where i said blanket-statement all redemption equals death narratives are Bad Inherently (which didn't contain the nuance i would now include in that, though i still generally agree with the sentiment). but i initially fully thought this was an ask sent to my side blog where i am vocally an akechi stan and i Could Not Tell if this was supposed to be a hate ask or not.

anyway yeah this is basically akechi. he was also wrong.

i have no issue with this though, so long as the villain's perspective is framed as incorrect and limited and tragic. it would basically be the opposite way to get the same message across--that anyone can be saved if they make the choice to change--through a tragic lens, and if it fits in the narrative that could be really good, if very sad.

the key is to frame the events as tragic, and not just vaguely tragic, but wrong. the character's actions must be framed as incorrect by the narrative and their motivations made clear. if not it could very easily end up backfiring on the intended message.

hm. i think you could also say shadow weaver's death could be considered something like this.

Yeah I will stop talking about Joker and his persona (at least for now) but I think looking at how past games use persona to show aspects of their users personality is helpful even if it’s ,strictly speaking, a bit off topic. I wouldn’t have thought to have looked up multiple meaning of stigmata if Joker’s persona didn’t use so many puns and idioms in their design.

Maruki and Akechi both heavily imply they at least thought Joker's wish was that Akechi didn't die, though it's sort of a weird Schrodinger's cat situation since Akechi does appear at the very end of the game apparently alive for a brief second, but you get that only if you went through all the third semester and his confidant anyway, so it's sort of unclear whether that was actually something that needed to be "fixed" by a wish? Either way, though, in that case his wish would be a lot more... "give up-able" I guess, in terms of how able he'd be to steal Maruki's heart after doing so, haha.

hello! im a recent follower of your blog, and i wanted to bounce a Ryuji fic idea! i wanted to write something angst or hurt/comfort with him, but im a bit dry as to what exactly can i angst or hurt him XD i was thinking about writing about his leg injury, but i wasnt sure if im able to write him right since ive never written him before can you give me a rundown of his personality? like, what are his key characterizations?

Hi, and welcome! Ryuji is my favorite, so I’ll try to help as I can.

Before anything, I just want to make it clear that much of how I interpret him is based on headcanons I came up with during the years, so it might not always be canon accurate.

That being said, I'll put some of my thoughts on him under the cut, since I'll probably ramble a bit.

If you don’t want to read my long ramblings about my favorite character, there’s a small list of key characteristics at the end. Anyway…

To me, Ryuji's main characteristic is that he's incredibly loyal. Be it to his friends, his mom, or his goal of being a Phantom Thief and do good. He can be pretty silly and dense, and sometimes his mouth goes much faster than his brain, but he's always trying to do what he thinks is best, and help those who need. He considered dropping out of school to help his mom financially, allowed his old team to (unfairly) let out their frustrations on him, was ready to sacrifice himself for the other Phantom Thieves, and is always willing to shield his friends, or fight for their sake no matter what. He has a strong sense of justice too, much stronger than his self-preservation and fear of consequences, as we saw with what happened with Kamoshida (I also don’t doubt he would’ve punched Shido’s face without a second thought if he knew who he was when they came across him… He’s the kind who acts by instinct before he thinks, and frequently get into trouble for it).

He’s someone who, despite his short patience, is also very forgiving. He was annoyed at Yusuke and Makoto at first, but didn’t think twice before helping them once he understood their situation. This is even clearer with Akechi, since Ryuji never trusted or liked him, but also had one of the strongest reactions to his story and “death”, even saying that he was more than special when Akechi had a breakdown after his fight in Shido’s palace. He’s the kind who takes no bullshit, and hates people who harm others and abuse their power, but is willing to give people a second chance if he feels they are willing to do better.

Since you’re planning to write about his injury, I think it’s important to keep in mind that not only did Ryuji lose something he loved to do and his chance to become a professional athlete when Kamoshida broke his leg, but he was also shunned by his team for it, and had to deal with the guilt of his mom apologizing for raising him on her own. It’s a bunch of terrible things happening at once, and I wish the game gave it all a little more attention, since people tend to forget about everything Ryuji went through because his personal drama isn’t as present in the narrative as other characters’. (There’s also the abusive father situation, which is something that doesn’t go away easily, but the game just mentions it and then forgets about it later…)

Ryuji was also probably pretty lonely before he met Joker, given how he was treated at school. That might be why he got so attached to Joker so quickly, since he was the first person in a long time to be willing to listen to his side of things and get to know him without the usual judgment. (Also, unrelated to Ryuji, but I feel like Joker felt the same way about him, since Ryuji was the first to listen to his side of things and be on his side. They were a good support for each other in their time of need, and that’s one of the reasons their friendship got so strong in such a short time). I also like how Ryuji’s emotional intelligence works, because he can be very dense for some things, but then there are moments when he’s the first to notice something is wrong with one of the PTs and tries to do something about it. Like when Yusuke mentions that people avoid him at school, and Ryuji immediately invites him to go out after that. He can be a little blunt, but he never tries to hide how much he cares about those close to him, and does what he can to help them when they need, or cheer them up when things go badly.

This goes more into headcanon territory, but I also think Ryuji is afraid of becoming like his abusive father. He’s constantly being treated as a “good for nothing punk” by teachers and classmates, was called a traitor and shunned by his old team, has a short temper, and often acts without thinking. It feels to me like he’s not only fully aware of his flaws, but also internalized this idea that he can do nothing right, so he (consciously or not) tries to compensate by being a hero as a Phantom Thief. Of course, he does care about the people they’re helping, but I think part of it is also him trying to prove to others and mostly himself that he can be good, and do good, and not just harm others like his father (or even Kamoshida) did. I can’t remember the exact words, but he mentions after Shido’s palace that he liked feeling like a hero, to the point he lost sight of what they were doing, and why. But, in the end, I think Ryuji put helping people who have no one to rely on, and no way out of a bad situation as his main goal, since I’m sure he often wished someone would help him (and his mom) when he needed, but ended up having to struggle on his own until he met Joker. So, in short, I think he has the best intentions and a willingness to do good things, but can easily get lost in his own problems and insecurities. His self-esteem is also pretty low, given how he often lets people treat him badly with little to no protests (some of it was for the sake of “humor” in the game, but it doesn’t change the fact that sometimes the group is unnecessarily mean to him).

TL/DR: to me, his main characteristics are loyalty, willing to do good (despite not always knowing how, or the best way to approach certain situations), and some pretty low self-esteem behind his confident and positive attitude. He’s a dork, but has a strong sense of justice, and often acts before he thinks. He can be dense, but is also openly caring and affectionate with those close to him, is always trying to help them, and tends to put their needs and feelings above his own (which can also be a flaw).

If it’s difficult for you to write him, it might be a good idea to read a few fics by different authors, and see which parts of their characterization feel right to you. I’m more of a P5 writer than a reader, so I don’t really have fic recs, but Ryuji is a fairly beloved character nowadays, so it should be easy to find good fics and rec posts around.
