A Musing Monday 🎐
Today I'm musing about extradimensional spaces! Like Mary Poppin's bag, or 'eatery that connects to an isekai' anime, or your mind, even.
Tumblr media
I do think the mind is a type of extradimensional space. We fit the essence of so many places and moments and people into the folds of our memory, contained in the little box that is our skulls. We imagine worlds, we dream entirely separate lifetimes. It's wild, and amazing, and a little terrifying.
Occasionally I think about how the entire world around me is MY world- in that my only access to reality is through my own interpretations, experiences, and the senses that link to my brain, all of which may or may not be close to the truth of reality. When I die one day, my world dies too- not one creature on earth will live in the same world that I knew due to my relationship with everything perceivable to me.
Before I get TOO existential here though (or maybe I'm getting more existential)- think of what that means for writers! We are masons crafting gateways to extradimensional spaces. Through what we do, people can visit the pocket dimensions of OUR minds, dimensions that have the possibility to continue existing long after the mind/wold that created it expires. And because everyone perceives things through their own lens, writing one story and sharing it creates the potential for countless alternate dimensions; every soul that reads your work will carry their own personal version of it in their mind. If you have a hit count or something similar on your work, THAT'S how many dimensions you've created, at least.
Not only that, but when someone reads what you've written, THEIR world alters. It may be slight, your work or your post might provide a momentary reprieve from the part of their world they're avoiding or decompressing from (which is still a very important thing), or it may give them an idea of their own, it may motivate them to make one choice over another choice, it may alter the very way they think and interact with their family, their partners, themselves. You very well may alter the fabric of what a person is, the dimension of their mind warping with the way it interacts with your dimension.
Never forget that as a writer, or any creator of art for that matter, you are a world-builder, a world-shatterer, a world-repairer; a powerful and magical being that may alter the course of history. Writing is magic, and it's sorcery, and I desperately hope even the small unconfident blogs on here recognize that power.

CW: Yandere content means yandere content y’all, stalking, dub-con/non-con, masturbation, disgusting themes, panty stealer, fingering, oral (receiving), overstimulation, breeding themes(slightly?), creampie, power bottom Idia, slight masochist Idia, kidnapping, shit ass writing, I think that’s all, etc…
Fandom: Twisted Wonderland
Character: Idia Shroud x GN! Reader
Word Count: 7.2K words
A/N: This is a birthday fic for one of my IRL besties, an Idia simp. Another thing, this is a yandere blog so it’s not canon to their personalities at all but more my interpretation of them if THEY were yanderes. So take that as you will! This is with a GN reader so there is no anatomy assigned or pronouns other than they/them (I did proofread it but lmk if there are any errors!)

‘ Click’
‘ Click’
Yellow eyes darted across from the screens as he was looking at the contents. Classes were over and his homework was completed quicker than he used to have it done. He was still a housewarden with duties and responsibilities after all, besides he needed the rest of the day free to partake in his favorite hobby. Stalking [Reader] of course. He could access several cameras from different angles as he attempted to track them down.
‘ Where are they? Their class ends around this time and they usually stay a bit longer in the classroom to wait for the freshman and Grim. They’re taking too long. . .shit! Did I miss them? Did they already leave?’
Idia frantically typed away at his computer to try to locate them. After a couple of tries, he found [Reader] and Grim, with the freshman of course, walking out of their classroom. Sighing in relief, he continued to observe as normal. Unfortunately, these cameras were limited as they had no audio but it would do for now.
‘ So they DID stay longer in the classroom. Phew, good thing nothing has changed so far.’
The screens were the only source of light in his room as his lights were turned off. He didn’t have any club activities today so he there was no need to leave his room. He sat on his desk chair while holding his knees to his chest. Raising his thumb to his mouth, he bit down on the tip of his nail. How did it come to this?
~
“We’re going to be late! Crap, where is the housewarden?”
“Doesn’t he have his club? Do you think we can leave it with Ortho?”
“Uh maybe. . .man why did Professor Trein dump this on us? If only Idia attended in-person classes, but oh well. Oh, wait-[Reader]!”
[Reader] was walking through the hallways, but turned when they heard their name was called out. There were two students, from the Ignihyde dorm looking stressed.
“Yes?”
“Sorry for this, but could you do us a huge favor? Professor Trein asked if we could drop these papers with Houseward Idia, but we can’t find him! Not to mention, we’re already late for our club activities enough as it is! We’ll make it up to you, promise!”
“Hm, sure I don’t see why not. Not like I have anything better to do, give them here.”
Sighing in relief, the students wasted no time in handing the documents over to [Reader].
“Gosh, you’re a lifesaver! Thank you so much, both Grim and your meal are on us!”
The students turned and ran off to their club. Leaving [Reader] alone.
“Grim would appreciate that, it sure saves me money for one day knowing his appetite. Anyways, just where is Idia?”
[Reader] debated going over to the hall of mirrors and just entering the Ignihyde dorm but they decided against it. It would be too much work if Idia were still on the main campus grounds and they were in their dorm. Was Idia even in a club? If he was, it would be worth it to check some classrooms in case he was. Thinking back on it, it wouldn’t seem likely but it didn’t hurt to check. [Reader] had been walking for about 20 minutes, popping inside classrooms just to survey the area. To no avail, Idia was not in the classroom.
“Just where could he be? Maybe I should head over to his dorm. Oh, hey Azul!”
Azul was walking on the opposite side and [Reader] ran up to meet him.
“Ah, [Reader]. What a coincidence, I would have figured you had returned to your dorm by now.”
“Normally I would have, but I’m helping some classmates drop off some documents. Hey, this may be a stretch but by any chance, do you know where Idia might be?”
“ Idia? Oh why, yes I do. He’s still in the classroom. We just finished up our game board club meeting. He lost to me so he’s staying back to finish cleaning up. Why?”
“He’s the one I’m dropping the documents off to. So, where is the club room?”
“ Down the hall, turn right and it’s the second door on your left.”
“ Thank you, Azul! I’ll see you around, kay?”
“Of course. If you however require my services sooner, you know where to find me.”
“Nice try, but at the moment I’m not interested in making a deal right now.  Maybe later if I forget to study for an exam.”
“But of course, take care.”
Azul left back to his dorm, leaving [Reader] to seek out his directions to the club room. When they arrived, they opened the door to see Idia sitting at the desk on his phone.
“Oh hey, Idia-”
Idia jumped in his desk, whipping his head around to stare at [Reader] in a frazzled state.
“W-what a-are you doing h-here!?”
“Calm down Idia, not here to hurt you. Anyways, someone asked me to drop off these papers to you. One of your housemates. Anyways, what are you doing?”
“You c-can leave them on the t-table.”
Idia’s eyes avoided [Reader’s] and he ignored their question. [Reader] walked closer, leaving the documents on the table as asked. They turned to look at his screen, looking at all the graphics displayed on the screen.
“That looks interesting, what’s this about?”
“It’s a game. . .”
“Right, I can see that. What is it about?”
Idia continued to advert his gaze, muttering under his breath under the assumption that [Reader] could not hear him.
“Like you would care. . .”
“I would actually.”
A snarky and slightly offended response left [Readers] unamused face. Idia let out a squeak, he didn’t think [Reader] would hear that. [Reader] let out a huff, pulling a chair out and sitting across from Idia.
“Idia, you know I’m not from here right? I don’t know much about media and franchises here in Twisted Wonderland, but I was interested in content like this back in my world. So humor me, what is this game about?”
Though he was still unable to look them in the eye, not that [Reader] minded, he continued to explain the game franchise.
“It’s an adventure-based role-playing game following an adventure party on a mission to take down the demon king. The party consists of characters that you get to pick, unlike most games where you’re given a party member. This game is different because it relies on your choices to advance as well as you making your combat type distinct. It has an online server where you can complete side quests while the main story updates.”
He spoke fast, never sparing a glance at [Reader]. He was just waiting for them to become uninterested or to look at him in annoyance. He was waiting for the insults and the questionable glances of ‘you’re weird’ and ‘fucking loser’.
“Hm, so it’s a fantasy-based combat game. Does this mean that all the party members are different fantasy races? I’d like to see the party members that you can pick, or do you get to customize them as well?”
“ O-oh u-uh. . .”
Idia has always seen the negative side of everything, but being realistic he didn’t give you enough credit. Sure, most people stop listening after that initial description but a few brave soldiers still stick around until he continues. He’d surely lose your interest with his extensive knowledge of the game's lore.
“Well, not exactly. You can make your character, but the other party members are already designed and have a story to go with them. All you do is equip weapons and artifacts to strengthen them.”
“Oh, I love customizable characters. Can I see yours?”
Alright, so you’re one of those few brave soldiers who may be interested in a nerdy ramble. Idia began to click and swipe at his screen, eventually passing it to [Reader]. [Reader] began to inspect the character, looking at all the features that Idia placed on them.
“Woah, they look badass. I like your character’s style, but it looks like they aren’t human-like. Are they fantasy-based characters? What kind?”
Idia couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment it happened, but his face softened and went from stoic to a more relaxed one. His eyes began to shine with passion as he began to talk about his character, gaining [Reader’s] undivided attention. [Reader] nodded and paid attention when he spoke, asking questions about the game’s lore and characters. Idia answered all their questions with a more enthusiastic chirp, throwing some jokes here and there. The atmosphere changed from tense to a more comforting one as they continued to speak losing track of time.
“. . .but you don’t meet this fantasy race until act III in the game, even then they’re an antagonistic species until you clear the next three acts, that’s when it clears up. Eventually, you can add this character to your party or can update the way your character looks after-”
The sound of the classroom door opening snapped Idia from his daze, and he turned to look at the door.
“Idia, here you are!”
“Ortho. . what are you doing here?”
“Idia, it’s been three hours since you were supposed to be back. I came to see where you were. Don’t you remember, the new update for the game was dropping later tonight?”
“Three hours. . .?”
[Reader] and Idia panicked, both scrambling up from their chairs,
“ Oh my gosh, I had no idea time went by so fast. I need to get home and do my homework!”
“I forgot about my game! S-sorry, I probably bugged you with my spiel-”
“Not at all, Idia! Honestly, this game sounds cool I might check it out. Well, I wish I could considering I don’t have a platform to play it. Crowley is very stingy with what he gives out. I don’t even have a phone to use, or else I would have asked for your contact info. I’ll catch you later, hopefully maybe one of these days I can see you in class. Take care, Ortho!”
[Reader] patted Ortho’s shoulder before leaving the classroom. Ortho nodded enthusiastically, wishing [Reader] the same. He turned around to where Idia was standing. Idia was quiet, his eyes wide, and on his face was a dopey grin. His cheeks were lightly flushed, adding color to his pale skin.
“ Iida? What’s wrong?”
“Ortho, I’m going to class tomorrow.”
~~
It had been roughly two months since that encounter. Idia never expected it to get this bad. They kept their promise, and [Reader] continued to talk to him even if it was after class and in private. He knows they didn’t mean anything bad by it, but he loved the idea of being their little secret. Held occasional yet school-related conversations in public, but the moment the class ended [Reader] and he would talk for hours. Sometimes, they would come over to the Ignihyde dorm to play games with him or indulge in certain content and media. Ortho was very excited, not only was he able to see his brother form a friendship with someone so close instead of online, but he could also see his brother having a slightly more positive outlook on life. However, he remained haunted by the grim reminder that he would be head of the S.T.Y.X organization and wouldn’t be able to enjoy the luxuries he was experiencing now. Despite all that, he was smiling a lot softer and looking forward to the next meeting. So in other words, everything was content and alright. There was no need for him to hijack the cameras to stalk [Reader], but he did it anyway.
“Well, no matter. What’s done is done. Now I need to make sure they get home safely.”
Idia softly smiled at the cameras, looking at [Reader] talking to Grim. They had a smile on their face as well, no doubt teasing the poor kitty.
‘ They’re so pretty. . .hopefully they like my surprise.’
[Reader] was walking with the freshman to the Ramshackle dorm. They were going to drop off some stuff before heading out to the hall of mirrors. As they arrived at the entrance, they were greeted by a ghost.
“Good afternoon, [Reader] and Grim! How were your classes?”
“ Afternoon! Nothing too busy, but we just got assigned a major project.”
“Man talk about annoying, Riddle kept reminding us how important this project was for the freshman.”
Ace complained with Deuce sharing a similar face of dismay, clearly stressed about the project itself.
“Vil was the same, he said that I could not afford to get a low score and tarnish Pomefiore’s reputation. This must be a pretty serious project.”
Jack rubbed the back of his head, “Leona hasn’t mentioned anything yet. If all your housewardens are saying something no doubt when I get back to Savannaclaw he might mention it.”
“If the project must be this serious, then I cannot score anything but the highest marks! The pride of Diasomnia, no. . .the pride of Malleus-Sama rests on my shoulders!”
“Cool, anyways. . .”
The rest of the group disregarded what Sebek was spouting about. The ghost chuckled, before leaving to the living room and returning with a package in hand.
“Someone came by to drop this off. We don’t know what it is or from whom. There was no name on the package.”
“Oh, for us?”
“Seems like it.”
Curiosity spread among them as they were all devising in their heads what it could be.
“You don’t think it’s a. . .no it couldn’t be!”
“But it might be. . .”
“It might be a what?”
Grim turned to Ace and Epel who shared mischievous smiles, “Oh you know. . .”
“Pay them no mind, Grim. They’re just trying to scare you.”
Deuce waved the two off and reassured Grim that it was all right. [Reader] examined the box, shaking it a little. It felt heavy, but there was no sound with the shake. It might either take up the whole box or it might be very secure. They walked inside their dorm with the others following suit. They sat on the couch and proceeded to open the package. Ripping open the box, they turned to see that it was a new phone.
“A phone. . .?”
“ WOAH! NOT JUST A NEW PHONE, IT’S THE LATEST MODEL!”
Everyone exclaimed, eyes wide as saucers.
“It is. . .?”
“Hm, you don’t suppose Crowley got it for us do you?”
Grim turned to look at [Reader] who scoffed at the idea,
“Hell no, since when has that man cared for us?”
“Fair enough, but who do you think it was from?”
“ Not sure. .  .”
“ Well whoever it was, they must be loaded!”
Ace pointed out, [Reader] looking up at him.
“Surely it can’t be that much...  could it?”
“It’s over 200,000 Thaumarks!”
“THAT MUCH!?”
Grim and [Reader] turned to each other in shock. There was no way Crowley would cough up that much money for them, surely this was a mistake.
“ Do you think they maybe got the wrong address?”
“Nope! The postman that delivered it said the package was addressed to a [Reader].”
“So who could be this generous patronage?”
“Who knows, but whoever it is. You better take care of that as your life depended on it!”
“ Got it, maybe I can ask Idia how to set it up. Surely it can’t be too different than the models back in my world, but if it is that much I can’t risk it. Alright, let us go now.”
“ Do you guys want to go to Monstro Lounge to eat and talk about the project?”
Sharing nods, everyone set off to Monstro Lounge. Idia was observing through the cameras, looking to see everyone entering the Octavinelle dorm. The moment he saw [Reader] enter, he stood up and made plans to leave his dorm. He closed off all the cameras and locked his room to be safe. He turned to the door, preparing to enact his plan. He left the Ignihyde dorm, turning to the path to the Ramshackle dorm. He walked at a brisk pace. It was the perfect time, no one was near or around to see him. Upon arriving at the dorm, he turned to peek inside the windows. Luckily, the ghosts that were occupying the house didn’t seem to be near. He pulled out a key and swiftly unlocked the door. He remembered one time when he swiped their keys and made a copy of them. Casually returning them to [Reader]. He climbed up the stairs and entered their room. Looking around, he could see a very plain room. Nothing too out of the ordinary but he didn’t mind, he knew that [Reader] was hardly getting any funds from Crowley. That was why he gave them the phone, something to be able to reach them faster. Though the room was plain, there was something that did manage to catch his eye. [Reader’s] used clothing hamper. His breath hitched, slowly and carefully making his way to it. Fear that the slight movement could alert someone, even though he was alone(or was he?). Once he made it across, he peered inside. Just normal clothing, sleeping garments, and so forth. The one thing that did make him turn red, was the sight of [Reader’s] used undergarments.
His throat was dry as he debated reaching in and taking. What would they think of him? Would [Reader] look at him in disgust? Here he was, a pervert thinking about taking the used underwear of the one he loved. Who knows what he was going to do with them? Idia shook his head, reaching in swiftly and swiping the used underwear. He shakily raised them to his face, placing the crotch area close to his nose. He inhaled deeply, [Reader’s] scent quickly invading his mind. His pants began to feel tight and his dick was hard. He was lost in a trance until he heard a voice come from the living room.
“I wonder who could have gifted the phone to [Reader]. Do you think they have a secret admirer?”
Idia’s eyes widened as his body temperature rose. He was horrified, beyond terrified. Tears began to well, he was going to be caught! Idia quietly scrambled to the hallway but skillfully remained undetected as he peered over the stair railway. All the ghosts were in the living room, but they weren’t near the front door. If he played his cards right, he could make it out of the dorm without bringing too much attention to himself. Idia began to walk down the stairs, luckily the ghosts were too into their conversation to hear the creaky stairs. Idia shoved the used garment into the pocket of his jacket.
“ If they had a secret admirer, do you think it might be that fae boy who sometimes comes here at night?”
‘The WHAT!?’ Idia internally screamed. Fae. . did he mean Sebek? Sebek knows better than to appear at night, so was it the devilish third-year Lilia Vanrogue? Sure he was an eccentric one, but even he would have morals. Idia was close to the front of the door.  Idia was so into his thoughts, that he failed to notice the ghost that was standing near the gate. The ghost turned around, with a surprised look asked,
“Are you here for [Reader]?”
Idia let out a squeak, holding both his arms in a defensive stance. The ghost noticed this and quickly assured him that he did not mean any harm or to spook him.
“Didn’t mean to scare you, but [Reader] isn’t here right now. They’re at the Monstro Lounge working on a project with some peers.”
“O-oh. . .I see. . .”
Idia knew they weren’t here, but couldn’t raise any suspicion. The other ghosts soon came to the front door, staring at Idia.
“Oh, what’s this? Are you a friend of [Reader]?”
“I-I u-uh. . .d-did [Reader] get the package?”
“ The package? Oh! Are you their secret admirer?”
Way to go Iida, he was digging a deeper hole for himself.
“A-a friend of mine a-asked me to make sure they got it. . .”
His gaze was adverted to the side and his fingers were twiddling.
“They did it! By any chance, can we know the name of your friend? Tell us, do they like [Reader]?”
“ Y-yeah s-something like that. T-they’re a little shy so. . .well then, that’s good. U-uh, I’m going to leave n-now. . .”
“ Take care, be safe walking back to your dorm!”
The ghosts all wished him safe travels. Idia nodded and began to walk slowly, once he was away from the ghost’s sight of vision he scrambled back to his dorm.
“You don’t think he was. . .?”
“Maybe, but wait. . . isn’t he the one [Reader] likes?”
~
Idia managed to make it to his dorm without being spotted. He entered his room and locked the door. Once he caught his breath, he made it to his bed and plopped down. He was tired, hopefully, the ghosts didn’t say anything. He closed his eyes and remained still for a brief moment before he turned, feeling the fabric of his pants rub against his hard-on.
‘Oh’
His cheeks reddened and his hair changed from a blue to a purple shade, close to pink. He reached into his pocket, taking out the used underwear. His other hand went to his pants, slowly freeing his hard cock. His breath hitched, he placed the used underwear up against his nose and inhaled deeply. His eyes rolled back at [Reader’s] scent and his free hand went to his dick, wrapping around it. Pre was already forming at the tip, he rubbed his cock up and down slowly, starting a soft pace.
“Fuck. . .”
His lidded and glossy eyes stared on, he slowly opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out. He gave a long striped lick, tasting whatever remained on the underwear. Whatever little control he had broke, he began to gradually fist his cock as he inhaled and exhaled. He was constantly giving licks as well, his body was moving on his own. He rolled over and entangled his legs with his bedsheets. He let the underwear fall on the pillow and dove nose-first into it. With his right hand, he began to grip the sheets. He rutted into his fist. His mind wandered to [Reader], how would they feel. If they saw him right now, what would they say? Would they call him a disgusting pervert? How dare he get off on your used underwear. How pathetic he is, rutting into his hand thrusting into his bed trying to find the right pace and friction to get off. Fucking pathetic, look at this loser jerking off to the idea of even being able to touch you.
“Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck-oh fuck-!”
He imagined if [Reader] was into it as well. Would they step on his disgusting dick? Would they tease him, call him all kinds of names? Would they make him fuck himself before he even had the chance to fuck them? Idia was thankful for his pillow, other than being able to rest the used underwear so that he could smell and taste as much as he wanted. He was also able to hide his pathetic moans and whines. He was drooling, eyes rolling back and tears welling up.
“Fuckfuckfuck, I’m gonna-shit I’m gonna come-”
How their warm insides would feel. How their hole would clamp and clench around his dirty and pathetic cock. Imagine how it would feel to relentlessly fuck them.
“W-wanna touch them, w-wanna fuck y-you, [R-reader]!? W-wanna c-come i-inside you-ha fuck!?”
Would they let them come inside? How it would feel, leaving his warm thick sticky cum inside them. When he’d pull out he’d see the thick glob that left their used and abused hole that was stretched out just for him.
“C-Cumming!??”
Idia’s eyes rolled back as his back arched, his right hand gripping the sheets and his knuckles turning white, blowing his load into his hands. His cum shoots out to stain his bedsheets. His cum was warmer than average, how would they feel? Would they feel warm and satisfied? Sweat was coating his skin and he struggled to catch his breath. His left hand released his now limp dick and his right let go of the bedsheets. He lifted his body, getting on his knees and he looked at the pillow and [Reader]’s now soiled underwear.
“I l-love you so much. . .[Reader].”
[Reader] kept true to their word and turned to Idia for help setting up their phone.
“Oh, okay so I do this right?”
“You’re no better than a noob finally learning how to use a handheld console.”
[Reader] sent Idia an unamused look, but let out a laugh. Idia smiled, but changed his face the moment [Reader] turned to look up again at him.
“It’s standard, it’s similar to most models back in my world though some features are completely new. Hey Idia, can I ask you a question? Is this really the latest model and  worth 200,000 thurmarks?”
“It’s the latest model and now it’s super rare. Those who preordered one when the sale dropped months ago were 100% guaranteed one with a small percentage that they would be sold in stores. They only released a few in-store ones so if you didn’t get one then, it’ll be months before you get one.”
“Woah, so it’s that special? Ace was telling me all the new stuff it was supposed to have but I just nodded and went with it.”
“Here.”
Idia handed [Reader] their new phone back, stuck on the contact screen. The contact read his name, ‘Idia Shroud’, with his phone number saved on it.
“So now you can reach me. M-maybe play the game now. . .”
“Thank you Idia, I was going to ask you about that too by the way. Do you mind if I lie on your bed?”
“Hm, no I don’t-WAIT YES I DO!”
Idia’s scream rang through his room. [Reader]’s eyes widened as they backed away from his bed.
“S-sorry, my bed is. . .messy.”
“Oh, I really don’t mind but if you do that’s fine. I can just sit here unless you don’t want me to?”
“N-no no, there is fine.”
Idia calmed down, scooting over to [Reader] to explain how to download the game and how to set it up.
It was like that, consistently for another two months. Idia wasn’t sure what to do, he had planned on confessing but how. Every time he thought it was the right time, someone just had to take [Reader’s] attention or ruin it for him. They could never understand them the way he did. After months of observing [Reader], playing games with them, and sharing deep meaningful conversations, Idia was the only one who could understand them. That’s what he believed, so why was it so hard to be able to confess them? No one was able to understand them to the capacity that Idia could and certainly, no one was worthy of them. Granted Idia himself didn’t feel worthy, but if he was the worm crawling underneath their shoe the other’s were the smears on the concrete. Idia huffed in annoyance, he was typing along to his online friend, Muscle Red.
Gloomurai: Can I vent to you about something happening IRL
Muscle Red: Of course, what’s wrong?
Gloomurai: How do you confess to someone you like?
Muscle Red: Oh, relationship issues?
Lilia scratched his head, geez. This was an awkward situation, it’s been a while since Lilia courted someone. He wasn’t sure how to proceed with the conversation but he was young once so it couldn’t be too hard.
Gloomurai: Not really considering there is no relationship yet, it’s more like I like someone but can’t bring myself to confess to them.
Gloomurai: When I want to, something always happens like the universe doesn’t want us to be together.
Muscle Red: I don’t think that's the case. I think you may need to set up a scenario where you are completely alone to confess, so you don’t have any interruptions.
Lilia winced a little when he read that back, it didn’t sound okay at first. Hopefully, Gloomurai doesn’t look too into it.
Gloomurai: It’s a little hard, they’re quite social. Almost everyone wants to talk to them.
Muscle Red: I’m sure if you asked to speak to them about a personal matter, they might set time aside to hear you out. Maybe that is when you confess?
Gloomurai: I’d probably stutter over my words to get it out, they’re just too cool. . .
Muscle Red: How did you meet them? Is this a close friend or?
Gloomurai: You could say that. They like the same stuff I like, we became friends with mutual interests.
Lilia let out a breath of relief. Unlike back then where you either knew the person from growing up together or being interested in them because of one interaction, common interests bonded people. So this should be easy.
Muscle Red: Hm, so then they probably know you and will feel more comfortable being near a familiar face. When trying to court someone you may want to start with a small gesture of kindness and trying to find time alone to be able to confess to them. That was how most of the time it worked then, but since this is a close friend they might already be able to pick up signs. [MESSAGE UNABLE TO SEND. TRY AGAIN.]
Muscle Red: You may have to be bold. Do something that they might never expect from you. Try to get them to see you in a different light than just a friend. If you’re able to do that then surely you can win them over, who knows maybe they’ll fall for you just as much.
Muscle Red: Do something that still falls within their comfort level to show that you still care and know certain things about them. I think once you’re able to show them how you care for them but also make them see you, I think that helps a lot. They already like spending time with you and enjoy common interests, so really, it shouldn’t be too hard. [MESSAFE UNABLE TO SEND. TRY AGAIN.]
Gloomurai: So try something bold, something that makes them notice my feelings for them?
Muscle Red: Exactly.
Gloomurai: Hm, thank you. I think I know what I should do. Thank you for this, really :)). Thank you for helping me defeat the boss too lol. C U!
Muscle Red: see you!
Gloomurai left the chat.
Muscle Red left the chat.
Lilia looked to the bottom right screen on his PC, looking at the symbol representing the internet.
“My, of all times it seems that the internet went out. Hopefully, they were able to read my messages and understand what I was trying to say. Oh well, they seemed to understand so hopefully it helps. Ah, young love certainly never fails to move my heart. Now, onto the internet.”
And so, that is where we find ourselves now. Idia was pacing around his room, biting his nails and muttering to himself.
‘Shitshitshitshitshitshit, what do I do? What do I do, what do I do, what do I do?’
[Reader] was sleeping soundly, snuggling into the bed. Clearly, this wasn’t their room and if they were to wake up, surely they would panic. The last thing [Reader] remembered was resting peacefully in their bed with Grim cuddling next to them.
“I did use a pretty strong spell, hopefully, they wake up soon. . .”
Idia peered over to see [Reader] they were still unmoving. He nervously made his way to them, getting on his bed and slowly crawling to them. The bed sank with his added weight, but nonetheless, they did not waver. He eyed their body, their features. Their chest was slowly rising with their steady breathing. Idia swallowed hard, his fearful expression didn’t leave his face either while he shakily extended his hand to touch [Reader]. His hand grazed their skin and his cold fingers met their warm skin. Tracing his finger from this shoulder to their forearm, touching their forehead and caressing their cheeks. He stopped breathing, afraid that it would ruin this soft moment for him. His eyes trailed down, to their chest. He removed his fingers from their cheeks and instead began to trail from their collarbone to their chest. With deep breaths and a flushed face, he started going lower. From their chest to their stomach, to their hips, and eventually, their crotch.
“You’re so pretty. . .wanna see you more. . .”
Idia lightly rubbed at their crotch, lazily stroking up and down. He didn’t intend to do anything and he certainly didn’t expect to hit any major pleasure zones. Idia continued to touch, not really doing much. He wondered if they were awake, what would they do if they saw him like this? Surely they would scream, be disgusted, and threaten to hurt him.
‘Be bold’
Idia nervously looked over to [Reader]with their eyes still shut. He looked over at their legs, placing his hands in the middle and prying them open. His head peeked up again, no movement. He got on his knees at the foot of his bed, dragging [Reader’s] legs down too. Idia placed his hand on their bottoms, dragging them agonizingly slow. He managed to take them off without stirring them and he left them in just their undergarments. Idia began to drool at the sight but he knew the surprise was waiting underneath the undergarments. Reaching above, he pulled them down swiftly and looked. [Reader’s] sex was exposed and visibly aroused. His cold fingers went to touch their most sensitive bit, lightly tapping it. Trailing their finger up and down, they noticed their hole clenching around nothing.
“What I would give for you to think of me touching you in your dreams.”
Idia shakily moved his face to their sex, giving it an experimental lick. Trailing to their hole, licking around the area. He removed himself and began to such on his fingers, once they were coated with his saliva he moved them to their hole. Inserting his middle finger inside. Idia let out a soft squeal when he felt their hole clench around his finger.
“F-Fuck. . .y-you’re so tight. . .”
Inserting his finger in and out, creating a soft pace and causing enough lubrication to insert another finger. Idia let out a small chuckle,
“It’s like you’re greedy hole is devouring me. . .I wonder what you’re dreaming about, [Reader].”
As Idia continued fingering [Reader], they turned to their sensitive bits and began to lick up and down, pressing light kisses on them. He continued to do this for a bit, lightly teasing them and pumping his fingers inside them. He began to suck and that’s when he noticed it, their body twitched. Thinking it was from pleasure, he continued to tease and explore their body. Their sensitive bits were being toyed with, sucked, licked, pinched, and stroked while he fucked his fingers into them. He didn’t notice the noises they were making as they were stirring, but his heart dropped when he felt his hands wander into his hair.
“[REA-]!?”
“D-don’t stop. . .p-please Idia. .m’feels good.”
He had to be dreaming! There was no way this could be real, but he didn't care. If it was a dream, then what a lovely dream it was. He nodded and returned to abuse their sex.
“F-fuck, right there-!”
Idia was overheating, he was eating them out with such intensity. Drool covers their sex and mixes with their juices. His fingers continued their assault, stretching them out in a scissoring motion while also reaching even areas they couldn’t with their fingers.
“M’ feels g-good, f-fuck g-gonna cum Idia-!”
[Reader] was coming undone, the feeling of Idia’s long tongue playing with their sex, sucking and kissing along with his fingers was a pleasure overload. When Idia’s fingers reached that soft and spongey spot inside them, curling his fingers to hit, they came. Grabbing his hair and pushing his face against their sex and bucking their hips, riding out their orgasm as they came on his face.
“C-Coming!”
Once they came down from their high, they released his hair. [Reader] raised their forearm to cover their eyes as they worked to catch their breath. Idia got up from the floor and got on the bed, crawling to them.
“[R-reader]. . .I-I-I-?!”
[Reader] removed their forearm, looking at him with glossy eyes. Idia could only gaze upon them with such love. Their body was covered in sweat, their skin was warm to the touch and their post-orgasmic face was divine. [Reader] propped themselves on their elbows, struggling to sit up on the bed. When they managed to, they turned to look at him with a dazed-out expression.
“Idia. . .wanna make you feel good too. . .can I?”
[Reader] asked in a slightly whiny voice that made Idia’s rock-hard cock strain against his bottoms. His breath hitched,
“E-EH? I-I N-NO Y-YOU DON’T M-MEA-EEP!”
Idia shrieked when [Reader] pushed him down on his bed, straddling his hips and rubbing their exposed sex on his clothed crotch. [Reader] raised their arms to remove their shirt, turning to remove his bottoms. [Reader] was able to pull down his bottoms and remove his boxer, exposing his dick. Idia’s hair turned into a pinkish hue with the rest of his skin burning up. He was embarrassed that his crush who he went down on, got to see him in a similar position. [Reader’s] hands were warm to the touch and they began stroking and rubbing his cock, jerking him off. Idia threw his head back, moaning uncontrollably and gasping as he felt their fingers play with his tip, rubbing it back and forth. Their free hand began to fondle his balls, creating a feeling of immense pleasure. Tears began to form and Idia looked at [Reader] with a face that was begging for mercy but at the same time, more.
“O-Of fuck! F-feels so fucking good! H-having my disgusting cock t-touched by you, [Reader]! F-fuck me, please I want it s-so badly!”
Before Idia could come, [Reader] let go of their dick. They went to their sex, rubbing their hole and inserting their finger, making sure they were stretched well. They leveled themselves to Idia’s cock and began to lower themselves down. Idia closed his eyes at the feeling of their hole clenching down hard on his dick. [Reader] was struggling themselves too, Idia managed to stretch them out pretty well. After a while, [Reader] began to move, slowly creating a slow pace while riding Idia, Their hands went underneath his shirt and to his nipples, playing with them. Their fingers caught them and began to pinch them.
“Fuck! H-ha…f-fuck, so tight!”
“Y-you’re so big, Idia. Feels so f-fucking good!”
Rolling their hips to meet Idia’s small thrusts to reach that deeper part within their insides. Idia’s hands went to grab and hold their hips, keeping them steady. Idia’s left hand went to touch their sex, rubbing and stroking to make them catch their high. Both their bodies were covered in sweat and their moans echoed throughout the room. [Reader’s] movements were getting sloppy, the feeling of their climax was right around the edge. Idia could feel it too, he wasn’t going to last long but he wanted to. He didn't;’t want this moment to end.
“I-Idia, hm feel’s so good, feel so full! W-wanna c=come. .-ha!”
“F-Fuck [Reader]! C-Come, please c-come!”
Relief was granted when Idia thrust one last time, spilling his seed inside them. [Reader] threw their head back and ended up cumming all over Iida. The room smelled of sweat and sex. Idia and [Reader] were both trying to catch their breath, until Idia began to thrust again.
“W-wait I-idia! I can’t, it’s t-too much! S-still sensitive-!!”
[Reader] placed their hands on his stomach, steadying themselves and that’s when they saw it. Idia’s glossy eyes, tears staining his face but his face was red. He looked like he was ready to cry again from the overstimulation.
“P-please, w-want more of you. W-want to feel you-!”
Idia began to relentlessly thrust upwards, hitting their deepest spots and continuing to play with their sex. It continued for a while until Idia had his fill, pushing [Reader] until they were no longer able to form coherent words just mindless babbles of their pleasure spilling out. Idia finally finished and managed to release inside them. He let [Reader] lie on the bed to rest, but never pulled out of them. They stayed connected even when Idia was no longer hard. [Reader] looked over at Idia who was avoiding their gaze. [Reader] smiled, breathing out before speaking,
“I love you, Idia.”
“H-HUH!? N-no, surely you’re just pulling my leg-”
“Idia, we just fucked. I’m not pulling anything, you think I don’t know that you were stalking me?”
Idia let out a whine, diving headfirst into their chest to hide his embarrassment. Wrapping his arms around their waist, pulling him closer to them.
“I know you’ve been stalking me around. I also know you were the one who got me the phone, the ghosts told me you stopped by my house.”
Idia peeled himself away enough to look up at [Reader] who looked at him with adoring eyes.
“ You probably hate me, you must think I’m disgusting aren’t I.”
“I don’t hate you, but I do think you’re pretty disgusting. I don't mind, I like how disgusting you are about me.”
Idia gazed into their eyes before shying away, continuing to shove his face in their chest. His pink hair was a dead giveaway that he was completely enamored and not okay with that response.
“ Oh, and I also know you jerked off to my used underwear.”
A sob left Idia’s lip.
Bonus:
Muscle Red: Hello, it's been a while. So, how did it go with the one you wanted to confess to?”

Hello. I've seen some of your pists about Gaza. I'm unable to send money at the moment but I'd like to still help. How can I help? I was planning to reblog the link for the foundraiser but couldn't find it.
Thank you!
Hi! I am not sure which fundraiser you were trying to find so I will promote my friend Mohammed's. He has until Tuesday before his campaign organiser starts the next money transfer, so we're trying to raise as much as we can before then so it reaches his family ASAP!
As to your main question, I'm presuming you're asking specifically how to help with personal fundraisers (as opposed to, joining an organisation or activist group, which I would also recommend where possible). Here are a few ways you can help even when you are short on money yourself:
1. Boost and promote campaigns. Even having one person pay attention and post updates can help keep a campaign from entirely stagnating. Especially if you have a low follower count, you will want to use the tagging function to get some bigger blogs to reblog your posts and updates. It feels awkward but it can be a genuine lifeline for the person whose campaign might be going slowly or slipping through the cracks.
2. Consider 'spotlighting' a specific campaign. This is a great guide from @/feluka on how to do that. You might have seen me doing it with Mohammed's campaign and a few others. This involves keeping up with the campaign more closely and probably writing more of your own posts. It takes some time and effort but again, it can be invaluable for the person on the other end.
3. Even if you can't donate yourself, consider putting together a raffle, auction, or commission opportunity that can incentivise other people to donate. Visual art (digital or physical) is a common prize/commission I see offered on here; there are also raffles for handmade or rare items such as plushies, cross-stitch, hand-sewn clothing, knitted items, limited-edition books, fancy journals, writing requests, etc. Anything you can make, someone might be interested in. If you need help boosting a post about a raffle or commission, tag some users who reblog fundraisers! You can also send that kind of post to me and I will happily boost it for you :-)
4. Consider reaching out to anyone you see promoting a slow or stagnant campaign if you have the kinds of artistic or graphic design skills to create artwork or graphics for them to use. Visual aids, banners, etc can make a huge difference when you're trying to get people to read a post and click through to a donation link. Or, if you can't make graphics, could you learn how to write accessible image descriptions for any that you see, and offer to do that? It's easy for people promoting a campaign to get overwhelmed by alt text and image descriptions when a post might involve numerous visual elements, time-sensitive updates, and an urgent need for donations as soon as possible.
5. Some people contribute to Gazan fundraisers by raising the donation money through irl events like bakesales or charity drives. These may take a little more effort or upfront materials costs to set up, but they can also be a great opportunity to spread the word and connect with other people. If you have local activist groups or parties, this might be a good time to reach out to them and see if they can help facilitate such an event.

question! is it a form of neglect to purposefully not give your children sex ed? i've been thinking a lot abt it lately, especially bc that's how i grew up. when i started asking sex related questions, people would either awkwardly lie or straight up tell me not to ask. to the point my mom would guilt me for asking, saying "you can read i'll find you a book" [never gets me any books abt it] "but stop bothering me bc i have a lot on my hands" ect ect guilting stuff.
like, thinking back on it now, it makes me feel more and more like not giving your kids sex ed on purpose is a form of neglect. i understand NOT knowing sex ed stuff but it seems like when you get kids, it's kinda your job to make sure they get that info somehow? so many people DON'T know basic sex ed or even what CONSENT is and it seems like that's not just a school system thing but sometimes it's also a PARENT thing.
sorry to ramble in your inbox. i've jst been thinking about this a lot, especially being on your blog, and wondered if you had any thoughts on it.
hi anon,
this is a rather thorny question and not one that I feel comfortable making generalizations about.
certainly there are caregivers who intentionally withhold access to information about sex, anatomy, and consent as part of a larger pattern of manipulating and indoctrinating their children, and stigmatize or otherwise punish children for seeking knowledge. in those cases I think we can generally say that withholding information is part and parcel of mistreatment. I assume, based on the rest of your ask, that this is the kind of behavior you mean when you talk about "purposefully" failing to provide sex ed.
but what counts as "purpose"? if a caregiver is otherwise meeting their kid's needs and not doing any cult shit but never raises the topic of sex ed because their kid never asked, or because they assumed that health class had it covered, or because they themself never got any decent sex ed and don't have anything particularly helpful to say, would we then call that neglect? I wouldn't, personally. it's nice when parents can, especially if their kids are coming to them with questions, but I also understand very well that the average parent is an extremely busy person who is doing their best and probably does not have any particularly thorough knowledge of sex. don't get me wrong, I have plenty of issues with how much sex negative behavior and general ick people learn from their families, but I can also recognize that this is a multigenerational cultural issue and that the parents are also the products of their own upbringings.
this is also a whole other tangent but I don't believe parents should be expected to be the primary vessel of knowledge for sex ed anyway, any more than they're expected to teach math or science. but I recognize that that's also a belief that requires schools to have mandatory, semester-long sex ed classes that are taught by a professional like any other subject and frankly the US is just not going to be there any time soon when Republicans are still trying to classify being a drag queen in front of a child as a sex crime.
tldr. it's complicated.

instead of you [part twenty] || l.mh
pairing: [best friend’s brother] lee minho x college!reader ft. han jisung
summary: you didn’t expect to spend your summer pretending to be your best friend’s girlfriend- then again, you didn’t expect to fall for your best friend’s brother, either.
warnings: swearing, angst, reader has emetophobia,
word count: 3k
a/n: revamped my tom holland series from my main blog ( @wazzupmrstark ) to try and motivate myself to finish it!!
series masterlist | early access to the next chapter on ko-fi
As soon as the cable car reached the peak, Minho ushered you into the Men’s Room with your head buried in his shoulder so that no one could see you. He blocked the door with the trashcan once you were inside to prevent other people from coming in. Anyone else who had to use the bathroom would just have to hold it until they were back at the loading dock.
You were a goddamn wreck, and that was sugarcoating it. Your eyes were red and puffy from crying, your nose was running- you’d gotten some snot on Minho’s shirt, which would have mortified you way more if you weren’t having a meltdown, and you couldn’t catch your breath no matter how hard you tried.
Minho helped you up onto the counter and yanked a bunch of paper towels from the dispenser on the wall for you to blow your nose and wipe your eyes with.
“Thanks,” you murmured as you took them from him.
He slotted himself between your legs, eyes searching your face. He had this helpless look on his face and you just wanted to kiss it off, but that was what had gotten you here in the first place. It was clear that he didn’t really know what to say, and you didn’t blame him.
You, yourself, couldn’t pinpoint the reason you were crying. It was either your paralyzing fear of heights that had sent you spiraling a few minutes prior, or the fact that you were falling for your best friend’s brother and had kissed him… also a few minutes prior. The most likely answer was a combination of both, but you weren’t ready to come to that conclusion.
You let Minho dab at your cheeks with a paper towel, let him attempt damage control, even though you were far beyond repair.
“I’m such a horrible person,” you groaned.
“No, you’re not,” Minho assured you in a hushed tone, but even if he believed what he was saying you knew it was a lie.
In his mind, you had kissed your boyfriend’s brother twice now. Once had been his fault, you were both drunk, and even if you’d shittily played it off like you thought you were kissing Jisung, it was still Minho who had initiated it. The second time was on you. You were sober and you knew exactly what you were doing. But the reality was potentially worse. You’d kissed your best friend’s brother twice, when you were supposed to be pretending to be in love with him. You’d betrayed him, and if he ever found out you were afraid it’d ruin your friendship. And what made it worse, was that stupid list of rules you’d agreed upon on the plane before meeting his family. There was an entire clause dedicated to not flirting with Jisung’s brothers. You were pretty sure kissing went way past flirting, not to mention all of the other things you thought about doing to his brother.
“Yes, I am,” you insisted. “I kissed my boyfriend’s brother! Twice!”
“Technically, the first time was my fault.”
“But the second time- there shouldn’t have even been a second time.” Minho didn’t respond. “I’m the worst girlfriend ever!”
“You’re not the worst girlfriend ever. It’s not like we slept together.”
You gave him a look. “Well, I’m a pretty bad one.”
“I mean, I kissed you back. I’d say that makes me a pretty shitty brother.”
“We’re both awful people,” you seceded, sniffling. “Maybe we deserve each other.”
Minho’s upper lip twitched almost imperceptibly, but he shook his head.
“Are you going to tell Jisung?” he asked.
“Should I?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“I just- I know it’s wrong not to tell him, but I don’t want to hurt him.”
“I mean, you love him, right?”
“Yes.” You answered automatically, because for the millionth time, you did love Jisung. But not in the way Minho thought you did.
“And you don’t want to break up with him?”
“No, I don’t.” You stared at the ground, suddenly fascinated with the dirty grout between the tiles. “Do you think he’d forgive me if I told him?”
Minho didn’t respond right away and your heart sank. “Probably. Eventually. But I don’t think he’d forgive me.”
You felt your eyes well up with tears again. “B-but you’re his brother. He has to forgive you.”
“Jisung, uh,” he paused and you thought he might’ve been getting emotional too. “Jisung hasn’t had it very easy because of me. I know he’s always kind of felt like he was living in my shadow, that’s why he went abroad for uni. He’s completely unique, you know? Of course you know, you’re his- anyway. He’s got his own talents and ambitions, and so many achievements! But he feels they pale in comparison to mine. I think most of it comes from people who used to pretend to be his friend or use him to get to me. I know h- I know he resents me for it.”
You shook your head. “That’s not true.”
“Why do you think he never told you what I do for a living? Why do you think I’m always joking about him being upset with me?” You pursed your lips, unable to give him an answer. “Exactly. And you, I’ve never seen Jisung look at anyone like the way he looks at you. If he finds out I kissed you, more than once, if he finds out that I think-” he stopped short. “That’s just one more thing he thinks he’s lost to me. I don’t think he could forgive me for that.”
“He’d get over it eventually,” you tried.
“I don’t know if he would.”
You could tell Minho had been beating himself up over this for a while. Maybe you had more in common than you thought.
You weren’t sure if Jisung would forgive you either if you were being honest with yourself. You knew Minho was right on some level. Jisung had always been a little possessive of you, but it wasn’t until you met his brother that you understood why. You’d stabbed him in the back in spite of that, and yet part of you still wanted Minho.
You wanted to take him by the collar and kiss him again and again until you couldn’t think anymore. You wanted him to kiss you back, chasing your lips like he couldn’t get enough of you.
He was like the sun: blinding and brilliant and warm. If you lingered in his presence for too long you’d get burned.
“I have an idea,” Minho murmured finally after a painful silence. “You’re not going to like it.”
“What is it?”
“Maybe… tell Jisung after the trip is over? I know it’s asking a lot, but it’ll just make things less complicated.”
“I… don’t think I’m going to tell him,” you said quietly.
“Wait, really?”
You nodded. “I don’t want to ruin you and Ji’s relationship.” And selfishly, I don’t want to ruin me and Ji’s relationship.
“Are you sure?”
“I think so.” You sighed and pushed your hair out of your eyes. “I’m sorry for kissing you.
“It’s fine. Guess we’re even now.” He gave you a weak grin.
“Yeah, we’re even. Consider your IOU voided.”
“Do you still have the postcard?”
“It’s in my backpack back in Tokyo.”
His smile brightened and he opened his mouth to respond, but at the same time, the door to the bathroom rattled against the trash can as someone tried to get in.
“Sorry, man, it’s um, out of order,” Minho sputtered out in a panic as he walked over and pushed the door closed with more force. He held his hand to it for several seconds as the person on the other side continued wrestling with it.
You gave him an anxious look, but he just returned the look and shrugged. He seemed entirely too calm for someone who was about to be discovered in the men’s room with a woman that looked like she’d just been railed. You looked like a mess for a completely different reason, but you knew no one would believe you if you tried to explain yourself. And after being recognized once today it wouldn’t surprise you if it happened again. Minho was pretty famous. Getting caught fucking someone in a bathroom halfway across the world wasn’t a great look for a K-pop idol.
Maybe you should get down from off the counter. Sitting up there only made you look guiltier.
Minho didn’t let up until the knocking eventually stopped. He was stronger than you thought he’d be. He’d only used one hand to hold the door closed while the other person had seemingly thrown their whole body weight into it. He hadn’t even broken a sweat.
“Come on, let’s get you cleaned up,” he said casually and helped you hop down. “Your eyes are still pretty red, you should splash some cold water on your face.”
You followed his advice and turned on the faucet, cupping your hands underneath the running water and bringing them to your face. The chill was a shock to your system, grounding you in the moment and helping soothe the burning of your cheeks.
You straightened up and made eye contact with Minho in the mirror who had been standing behind you the entire time watching. He handed you another paper towel to dry off with. You thanked him silently and turned around, looking to him for his approval.
He gave you a once over, uncrossing his arms and reaching toward you hesitantly. “Can I?” he asked, eyes flitting to yours. You nodded and he brushed a strand of hair out of your eyes. “There.” His voice had dropped to a whisper and you found yourself staring at his lips again. He was a walking distraction. He didn’t even have to do anything to have you at a loss for words. “I think… we should probably keep our distance from each other. At least, for a little while.”
You did your best to ignore the pang in your chest as you nodded in agreement. He was right, and you knew that. The fact that he was the one to suggest it should be a relief to you, but it wasn’t.
“Okay, let’s go back down to the bus before they leave us here.”
Minho held your hand in the cable car on the way back down the mountain, but neither of you spoke. The bus was also silent. Minus the handholding.
There was only one more stop before the tour was finally over and you could collapse into bed and try to forget the entire thing. It was a bullet train that would take you back to Tokyo, but it was running a couple minutes behind so your tour group was ditched at the train station by the guides who left with the buses while you waited.
You were standing next to Minho on the platform when his mother pulled you aside suddenly, asking to speak with you for a moment. Your heart leapt into your throat as you followed her a couple paces away from the group. What could she possibly want to talk to you about? Did she know something? Was she going to confront you about how close you seemed to be with the son you weren’t dating? A million possibilities ran through your mind, but you honestly had no idea what to expect.
“Is everything okay?” you asked breathlessly.
“Oh, everything’s fine! I’m sorry if I worried you by asking for a word. I just wanted to let you know that I talked to Jisung earlier today and he mentioned your… aversion to stomach illnesses so Dom and I looked to see if there were any extra rooms available at the hotel and we’ve booked you your own for the next few days until we leave. Jisung can join you when he’s feeling better, but we didn’t want you to have to deal with that ickiness.”
“Oh my god, you didn’t have to do that!” you exclaimed, embarrassed that Jisung had told his mom about your stupid irrational fear.
“Well, you and Jisung were supposed to have your own room anyway, but someone,” she looked pointedly at her husband, “messed that up. We would’ve switched you both sooner, but nothing at the resort had opened up. It’s not a big deal, trust me, okay? We want you to get some good rest and I know you won’t be able to do that with the twins keeping you up all night. We know Minho will be fine with them, but you shouldn’t have to suffer through that.”
You clutched your hands to your heart. “That’s so thoughtful of you, thank you!”
“Of course! We just want you to be comfortable, love.”
You thanked her again, but she insisted that it was really nothing and let you get back to standing silently with Minho.
The train pulled up a few minutes later and everyone got their tickets stamped as they boarded and filed into their seats. You and Minho sat across from each other while his parents took the seats beside you- Dom next to Minho and Nikki next to you.
It had been a long day so no one was in much of a mood to talk, thankfully. You tried to nap, but you were still too on edge to relax. The events of the day had exhausted you, but not enough for your body to give in to sleep. It was like your brain was trying to protect you from letting your guard down.
Y: what did you say to your mom??
J: what do you mean
Y: she told me you talked to her about my “aversion” and now i have my own room??
J: oh yeah
J: you’re welcome ;)
Y: it’s EMBARRASSING
Y: they got me my own hotel room??? like? i don’t want them to spend extra money on me!!
J: technically they were already going to spend that money anyway but dad fucked up the reservations. they’re still saving money
Y: ig but still :(
J: look, i knew you wouldn’t get any sleep tn if you came back to our room. i still can’t keep much down and neither can felix. it’ll just stress you out- not to mention that you have a tendency to puke whenever you’re around people who are also sick
Y: …
J: you know i’m right
J: i didn’t want you to be miserable
Y: i know…
Y: thank you. i love you.
J: always :)
J: and make some use of that alone time ;)
You rolled your eyes and slipped your phone in your pocket. His idea might help you relieve some stress, but you knew you’d be out like a light as soon as your head hit your pillow.
Your new room was much smaller than the one you shared with the Han boys, but it was cozy. It was on a completely different floor, which made you feel a little lonely, but mostly you were relieved to have your own space. There wasn’t a kitchenette like there had been in the other one, which wouldn’t be a problem since you weren’t going to be doing any cooking, and a queen-size bed lay in the middle of the room. You almost cried when you saw it, thinking about how you’d get the whole thing to yourself for at least a night.
As tired as you were, you still took the time to shower the day off. You scrubbed yourself with the bar of hotel soap until your skin was raw and the bottom of the tub was full of suds. All of the sweat and grime was long gone, but you still felt dirty.
Eventually, you gave up and rinsed yourself off before wrapping one of those big white towels around you and calling it a night.
You went to sleep naked, not having bothered collecting a change of clothes from the boys’ room. You didn’t want to venture in there if you didn’t have to, and you’d just text Jisung in the morning to bring you something to wear anyway.
-
The morning came far too quickly. You felt like you had barely blinked and the sun had already risen. It was past nine, the Hans had let you sleep in a little, but only barely. There were still plans for today, and you had to be downstairs and ready for them in a little less than an hour. You weren’t sure if the twins were feeling up to tagging along today, but you hoped they would. You didn’t know how you were going to spend another day alone with Minho- especially now that you had agreed to keep a distance from each other.
You texted Jisung to ask him to bring up a change of clothes. His mom had left the second key to the room with him so that he could join you when he was feeling up to it so you told him that he could just let himself in and leave the clothes on the bed.
Instead of waiting around, you decided to be proactive. You pushed yourself out of bed, groaning at the stiffness of your muscles, and made your way into the bathroom to wash your face. You used the bar of hand soap sitting on the counter to lather up- against your better judgment- and then rinsed it off with cold water to wake yourself up.
As you dried off with a washcloth you heard the door to your hotel room open and close and you breathed a sigh of relief.
“Y/n?”
“In here!” you called back, not thinking twice about it. Jisung had seen you naked plenty of times, and even though you had told him to leave the clothes on the bed you figured he might just want to say hi or something.
The bathroom door slid open and you turned towards Jisung to ask how he was feeling, except it wasn’t Jisung standing there. It was Minho.

Summary: After becoming the sorcerer supreme Stephen gets the access to the ancient one's private library full of ancient tomes in languages the doctor hasn't even heard of. Luckily Wong's childhood friend is willing to help and becomes their personal translator.
Word count: 14.3k
Tumblr media
“I’m so glad you could make it.” Wong greeted you with a wide smile- you didn’t even step into the building when the man picked you up, hugging you tightly. Oh how you missed his hugs! “You have no idea how happy I am that you came.” The librarian let you go and sighed heavily. He embraced you one more time before he took your bags and gestured you to walk in.
You looked around, mesmerised. It was quite a while since you’ve last been to the New York sanctum and even though nothing really changed it still felt foreign. The stairs looked exactly how they used to, but the carpet looked a bit more red than you remember it. Did they clean this old thing or bought a new one?  And then there was that old foyer where you used to spend most of your nights, reading some random fantasy novels you found in the nearest library. It was funny how you always insisted on reading those books instead of ancient tomes about real magic. You smiled, remembering that time the former guardian of this building  scolded you for sitting too close to the fire and accidentally burning half a page of your book. Thankfully it was no book about sorcery- otherwise you would already be dead because Wong would definitely kick your ass for that. This guy was basically your family but he wouldn’t hesitate to  make you pay for damaging something valuable.
“I put your bags in your room.” Your friend’s voice pulled you out of your transe, but you couldn’t stop smiling. You really missed this place. Turning around, your eye caught a glimpse of the closing portal behind your favourite sorcerer. “Tea?”
“Yes, please!” You said and followed Wong to the kitchen, walking with that happy jump to your steps, already excited to spend some time with your friend. When you were still a sorcerer, tea time with Wong always meant exchanging gossip- it was your favourite time of the day. And now you guys had a lot to talk about. “Oh man,” you exhaled and sat down on an old wooden chair right next to the kitchen island, “I missed your tea soooo much.” you giggled and breathed in the smell of your favourite flavour. “Did you buy this tea for me? You know I love it.”
“I actually did it myself.” The man said, proudly and poured your beverage to a ceramic cup from his favourite set. You smiled upon seeing the mugs you got him for his birthday a few years ago. Wong said it was his most valuable possession. “I picked up gardening last year and then decided to experiment with tea. I hope you like it.”
“Gardening? That’s interesting. You didn't mention it at all.” you took a sip and literally melted in your chair. Is this how heaven felt like? “Wow, this is amazing!” you took another sip and closed your eyes, cherishing the taste it left on your tongue. “And you did it yourself?”
“I did.” The librarian puffed his chest like a proud peacock, making you smile again. “And there’s a lot I have to tell you so buckle up- I have a lot of tea to spill.” Wong said, looking at you and expecting a laugh at his oh so genius pun. You were trying to look unamused, not wanting to give him the satisfaction, but you didn’t care to be honest. Yes, that pun was terrible, but still funny! You wouldn’t apologise for laughing at your friend’s corny joke.

“This is the last time I went to that store alone.” Stephen spoke into the empty air- his voice echoed through the hall with no one around to listen to his whining. The sorcerer supreme sighed, closing the door to the sanctum with his foot and then headed to the kitchen to unpack all those bags. The list Wong gave Stephen was longer than usual and the amount of food the man purchased would last for him and Wong for a whole month. The librarian insisted that his colleague should go to this very specific store at the other side of the city- which Stephen found quite weird but when he questioned it, Wong went on a long rant, explaining to him that they had your favourite kind of noodles and that their spices were top tier. Stephen had never met you, but he could see how much Wong respected you. You were obviously someone very important, but were you worth taking the train and two buses filled with annoying people just to get all those groceries that could be bought from the farmer’s market three blocks away from the sanctum? Stephen didn’t think so.
As he neared the kitchen, the sorcerer could hear someone talking. One of the voices belonged to Wong- Stephen was sure of that- but the other one he had never heard before. Have you already arrived? The doctor stopped in his tracks and sighed when he realised that he wasn’t exactly looking like the most important sorcerer at the moment. What kind of a first impression was this going to be? Would you judge his casual outfit or pay it no mind? It was hard to tell since Wong refused to tell Stephen anything about you other than the fact that you could translate all of the books for him. He didn’t even get your backstory or anything about you as a person. Wong obviously liked you, otherwise he would never have invited you to the sanctum, but the doctor didn’t know what to expect from you. He knew nothing about you. Stephen hated not knowing.
Lost in thought, he didn’t even notice when the hallway’s wooden floor beneath his feet changed to the turquoise kitchen teals.
“Speak of the devil and he will bring you groceries.” The librarian spoke, greeting his fellow sorcerer as he walked into the room.
The doctor’s eyes fell on the person sitting on the counter, face hidden behind the ceramic mug- Stephen was pretty sure that the dish was supposed to keep your smile hidden. So much for a decent first impression. Thanks to Wong.
You looked at the man who just walked in- bags full of food in his hands. Wong has told you plenty about the new sorcerer supreme, but you didn’t expect to see someone in their late 30s to be the most important sorcerer on earth. You knew he was in his late 30s because your friend has mentioned it once, but the grey in his hair made Doctor Strange look a bit older.
Awkwardly hopping off the counter you put your empty mug aside and walked towards the sorcerer supreme. “Let me help you with those.” You said, pointing at the bags. They were probably really heavy. You didn’t wait for a response and took some stuff in your own hands. “Wong, do you need an invitation or something?” You called, putting the groceries on the kitchen island.
Stephen huffed- almost giggled- when he saw how quickly Wong stood up and took the remaining bags from him. He might not have made a good entrance, but you have for sure impressed him. And you seemed like a really friendly person, too.
“Where are my manners!” You gasped, realising that this guy probably didn’t even know your name and you were so freely opening his cupboards and stuffing them with food. It must have looked weird to him. Leaving Wong to unpack the rest by himself, you walked over to Stephen the second time this day, extending your hand to properly greet him. “It’s an honour to meet you, Doctor Strange.” You heard a lot about this man- the best neurosurgeon in the US, maybe even the world, who graduated young with 5 phDs and then became the sorcerer supreme within a few months of studying magic. It was impressive. You admired him in a way. Wong spoke of him highly as well. Although he did mention the doctor’s arrogance and his ‘dumbassery’ as your friend called it.
Stephen watched your hand move up and then stop midair between your bodies. You wanted to shake hands….
He didn’t have his gloves! What if you stared at them? Even unintentionally. He couldn’t let you see his hands without the gloves on. Maybe he should stop worrying about them so much. Stephen has been trying to put an end to his overthinking but it was harder than he thought. You didn’t seem like a judgy person though.
Before he could make a decision you already pulled your hand away. He didn’t even notice that his own moved behind his back- hiding from your eyes.
“Wong has told me plenty about you.” You smiled, knowing perfectly well that your friend didn’t want his colleague to know about that. “I’m glad I could finally meet you.”
“I’m grateful you decided to help us out.” Stephen spoke, not really knowing what he should say to you. He didn’t know you at all, meanwhile you seemed to know him pretty well. “Wong said you specialise in  translating ancient languages.”
“That’s right! I have translated most of the books from the library in Kamar-Taj and a great amount of books from the London Sanctum.” You announced proudly.
“You always asked for those books when you were studying. You should thank our guest for providing your monolingual brain with all that knowledge.” Wong called as he put the last products in the fridge. The librarian was obviously not interested in your awkward ‘get to know  each other’ conversation and would rather go back to gossiping with you about some of the masters from Hong Kong. He didn’t even get to the part where Master Emily was having an affair with Master Min and that they got married in secret two weeks ago.
“It was all you?” Stephen asked, surprised. During his stay in Kamar-Taj the doctor had read dozens of books- in the beginning of his journey with sorcery said books were mostly in English, but once he memorised them he started reading the versions of those books in the original languages. It helped him learn how to read sanskrit in two weeks. “I must say I’m impressed. They proved to be very helpful.”
“I’m happy to hear that.” You couldn’t stop smiling- it was rare to hear people praising you and you always got excited when that happened. “How many books do you have for me, Doctor?”
“Oh, yes, please follow me.” Before he could leave, Stephen turned around to Wong, “is it my turn or your turn to make dinner tonight?”
“It’s your turn.” The librarian spoke as he moved to exit the kitchen and walk to his own room.
It was Wong’s turn.
“20 books?” You said, looking at the old tomes in Stephen’s office.
“I know it's a lot and I understand if you don’t want to do all of that-”
“You want them translated into English, right?” You asked and picked up the first book from the enormous pile, laying on the sorcerer’s desk.
“Yes, of course.” the sorcerer paced awkwardly around his room and watched as you went through the master’s guide to astral projection in mirror dimension. Was it embarrassing that the sorcerer supreme needed assistance to read books? The Ancient One didn’t need a translator and most of the Masters were fluent in more than one language. Stephen made a mental note to download duolingo. But did they teach Hebrew from two thousand years ago?
“Would you like me to translate it into any other languages?”
“How many do you know?” The doctor asked, curious.
“7 if we only count the old ones.” You answered and picked up another book, carefully inspecting its spine. Maybe if you find the time you will restore some of them as well.
“And if we count the new ones?”
“24.”
“How long will it take you to translate them?” Stephen changed the subject, feeling quite intimidated by your skills. He wouldn’t tell this to anyone, but last night he really needed to translate some notes and used Google to do it. Needless to say the spell was a disaster and the doctor swore to never use google translate for spells ever again. Even if he’s desperate.
Your eyes scanned the heavy tomes in front of you once more while your brain tried to calculate the amount of work you were about to begin.
“Two months. Maybe three.” You answered, putting your hands into the pockets of your black zip up hoodie. “I can start tonight.”
“Three months per book or-”
“All of them. I need to print the pages and then bind them into a new book and that will also take some time- hence three months.” You explained, knowing perfectly well that you would probably do it in two months. That’s if you were able to hide from Wong that you worked using your astral form in your sleep. He would never let you hear the end of it if he found out. “Now let’s talk about payment.” You walked around the desk and sat down at a little armchair in the corner.
Stephen stood frozen in place, watching you making yourself comfortable. He felt embarrassed because he didn’t take into consideration that you would want money for your services. Now that he thought of it he felt stupid for not thinking about it. The sorcerer’s hand wandered up his neck, scratching the skin on his nape as if that would help him come up with a solution.
“Oh dear, I was just kidding!”  You laughed, covering your mouth with your palm. “I don’t want your money, Doctor.”
Those words made Stephen breathe out in relief. “Are you sure? You said it will take you three months. It wouldn’t be fair of me to expect you to do this for free.” Yes, Stephen didn’t have money, but the thought of you getting nothing in return for your hard work rubbed him the wrong way.
“You really don’t need to worry about money, Doctor.” You stood up and walked up to the pile of books again, your fingers tracing the spines as you continued- “I want to do this for the sanctum. Besides you letting me stay here is already enough. Those books are for the sorcerer supreme only and I’m honoured that you’re entrusting me with them even though we don’t know each other.”
“I’m happy to hear that because we are broke.” Stephen said, causing you to laugh again. You were a very nice person and Stephen liked your personality a lot. Your aura was friendly and kind which was something this place really needed. “I guess that means you’re hired!” The sorcerer joked.
“Thank you, Doctor.”
“Please call me Stephen.”

Rubbing your eyes, you leaned back in your chair. A little desk lamp and your laptop were the only sources of light in the library. You couldn’t tell how late it was but  you knew you should stop and call it a day. In the first two weeks of your stay in New York you have already done more than you expected. If you kept up that pace you would be done in less than two months, but working all day since sunrise and then writing in your astral form all night wasn’t healthy. Plus Wong started to be suspicious and took your sling ring so astral projecting was off the table for a while.
As much as you loved peace and quiet, the sounds of New York’s nightlife made you a bit nostalgic. Honking of a car, laughter of tourists- things like that would annoy most people, especially at this hour, but you missed it. You missed this city. Maybe once you were  done with your work in the sanctum you would stay for a bit longer. Just because. And to be completely honest you really missed hanging out with Wong. It felt like a family reunion and you loved it. You didn’t know how much you needed this until now. It felt so good to be with people who genuinely cared about you and wanted you around. You haven’t felt wanted ever since your failed relationship a year ago. It was a very disappointing experience that damaged your confidence, but thankfully Wong was there to help you  pick up the broken pieces like a good friend. Nights like this one always send your mind in all the wrong places.
“Can’t sleep?” Stephen’s voice called from the entrance, making you jump in your chair. Your hand rested on your chest, feeling the rapid beat of your heart caused by the person standing in the doorway. “Didn’t mean to scare you.” He smiled apologetically and put some papers on the desk next to yours. “Isn’t it a bit too late for that?” The doctor pointed at the white screen of your laptop with a cup of tea in his hand.
“I was actually going to take a break.” You announced with a yawn and stretched your arms over your head so hard your  whole body shook. “I don’t have much left though and I could always rest after it’s done.”
The sorcerer hummed, looking at your screen. “You want to tell me that you have almost translated the whole book?” His eyes moved between the laptop, your notes and the heavy tome laying on the desk.
“Yes?”
“600 pages in less than two weeks?” Stephen took a sip of his already cold tea, cringing at the bitter taste.
“I'm actually finishing the second book.” You said, moving your arms around in hope it would ease the pain in your back. “Impressive, I know.” You joked, winking at the man sitting next to you.
“It actually is quite impressive.”
“My secret is Wong's black tea 5 times a day with three sugars and astral projection after midnight.” Stephen’s laugh echoed through the empty library, making you smile. The two of you didn’t spend much time together- he had his duties as sorcerer supreme and you were working on your translations. Neither of you wanted to disturb the other one. The only conversations you had so far were the ones around the dinner table with Wong. It was nice, but you wished you had more time to get to know Stephen. “Although he confiscated my sling ring so I can’t do that anymore.”
“It’s not healthy to use your astral form too often.” The man said, knowing he sounded like a hypocrite, but you didn’t have to know it. “Trust me, I’m a doctor.”
“Didn’t you use it every night back in Kamar- Taj to read?” You asked, amused by the look on Stephen's face.
“So he told you.”
“Wong tells me everything.” You grinned, narrowing your eyes playfully.
"Everything?" The doctor asked in a tone that sounded more like a dare. You weren't expecting the new sorcerer supreme to be such a chill person and you were glad that he liked to mess around sometimes. It made your stay at the sanctum a lot more fun than you thought it would be.
"Everything, including that one time you accidentally turned a student into a cat because you didn't read the spell correctly." You whispered, slowly gathering all of your notes and closing your laptop. You knew you wouldn't get anything else done that night. "But just so you know- Wong speaks very highly of you. He enjoys sharing those funny stories with me though."
"Good to know," Stephen grinned, feeling quite relieved that his colleague- friend- respects him beyond his occasional arrogance. "He has never told me anything about you before though." He said, sounding almost disappointed. Maybe Stephen and Wong weren't that close yet. They tend to talk about other students and masters, but never about their lives outside of the sorcery world. They should definitely change that.
"Is there anything you'd like to know, Doctor?" You stood up to throw away the pieces of paper that you didn't need anymore and stretched your legs a bit. It felt so good to move around like that after a whole day of sitting.
"It would be nice to get to know you better, but I think it's quite late and we both should be sleeping." The man said and yawned which made you yawn, too. Yeah, it was really late.
"I think you're right. I can barely keep my eyes open, let alone hold a conversation." Looking down at the desk you decided to clean the rest tomorrow. It wasn't going to run away.
"You could take a free day tomorrow and accompany me to London." Stephen suggested. You were a really nice person and the sorcerer liked your friendly spirit. You liked to joke around- even with Wong- and Stephen would lie if he said that he didn't wish for you to stay longer. He didn't feel so lonely with you around. Yes, you didn't talk much but he knew that you were always in the library with Wong and it made this place less…. lonely.
"I would like that! I haven't been to London in ages."
"Let me walk you to your door." The Doctor said, offering you his arm with a playful little bow.
The two of you stayed silent while you walked- neither of you had enough energy to talk anymore. The sound of your synchronised steps echoed through the empty halls. The distance from the library to your bedroom wasn't too long but it felt like eternity to get there. A free day was probably a good idea- you could feel the effects of your constant work and seriously needed a day to yourself.
The only words spoken between you were the whispered goodnights and the sanctum was dead silent again.
✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧
"You want to tell me that one day you just went on a walk and accidentally walked into the sanctum in Hong Kong?" Stephen asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.
The two of you decided to have brunch in a little cafe near the park- for you it was more like breakfast, but there was a 6 hour difference between NYC and London. The place was lovely and the chilly weather of early spring in England combined with the beautiful scenery of trees and the river made you smile.
You took a sip of your tea and smiled at the memory.
"I was a kid and didn't know I wasn't allowed there."  You explained, trying to make sense of your actions from the past. "I was 8 and got bored so my grandmother told me to go play with other kids, but I got lost on my way to the playground and ended up in the sanctum." Stephen watched you carefully which meant he was really interested in the story. He rested his cheek on his hand and you continued, " I got really scared because I realised that I wasn't supposed to be there and when someone tried to talk to me I ran and hid in the library-" you had to laugh at that. Little you were terrified, but the older you found the story hilarious. "Wong found me an hour later crying under the desk and then walked me home."
"That's an adventure." The doctor laughed- the wrinkles under his eyes made themselves more prominent. It suited him. Happiness suited him.
"My grandma then made cookies and told me to give them to the nice man who got me back home." You smiled and took another sip of your drink. "And then I just kept coming there whenever I had time and hung out with Wong in the library. He made me his apprentice- although he was still just a student himself. I insisted and he couldn't get rid of me."
"Really?" The sorcerer would love to see the little you annoying Wong so much he had to make you his apprentice to shut you up.
"No, he actually asked if I wanted to study under him."
"Did you say yes?" A sudden blow of cold wind made the sorcerer shiver, but he didn't pay much attention to it. Talking with you felt so natural and it felt like you've been friends forever. It was nice to have this connection with someone. Stephen really needed to feel normal every once in a while and sitting with you outside of a cafe on a chilly afternoon in London made him feel normal.
"Take a guess, doctor."
"Right, that was a stupid question." Strange grinned, hiding his face in the hoodie he wore to shield himself from the wind. Stephen could tell you he wanted to go inside, but you seemed to enjoy the chilly weather. He wouldn't die if the wind picked up every now and then.
"There are no stupid questions." You said, playing with the remains of your tea that were too cold to enjoy anymore.
"I like your mindset, but as someone who worked in medicine for years I can tell you that some people ask very stupid questions."
"I can only imagine."
"So why is it that I have never met you before. I was in Kamar-Taj for a very long time and I visit other sanctums whenever I need to, which is pretty often." The doctor was curious how he managed to not see you even once during his stay in all those places.
"Oh, I left the sorcery world when I was older because I got  into a university in Scotland. I still kept in touch with Wong and some other masters though. I even visited New York last year but it was only for the weekend and you weren't there."
"What did you study?"
"You will never believe when I tell you." You wiggled your eyebrows with a smirk on your face.
"Surprise me." Steohen said, already suspecting what your answer was going to be.
"I studied ancient languages and became a translator for an archeology centre in Greece when I graduated." You didn’t mention to him that you quit working in said centre after one of your colleagues broke your heart into a million pieces and walked all over it. He didn’t have to know about your failed romances. At least not yet.
"No way." The doctor fake gasped causing you to laugh again.
"Shocking, I know."
"I would have never expected it." He kept playing along, amused by your silly shenanigans. "Why languages? Was it like your passion or a hobby?" He asked, coming back to his more serious self.
"I always learned fast- I took Latin in school and then thought it would be fun to learn similar languages so my mom signed me up for French classes, I learned Spanish at home because I was tired of French and then took Swedish to change things a bit. Then there was Japanese, Korean and Hindu. And then when I started spending more time in Kamar-Taj I thought it would be very fun to be fluent in languages no one speaks anymore. It all just came natural to me. I was good at it so I decided to do it for a living." You explained; your gaze getting lost in the picture of the clouds changing their shapes. Taking a deep breath you tried to think of a good topic of conversation, but Stephen beat you to it and spoke again.
"That's really interesting. Your brain is fascinating."
"My brain you say?" You remembered that he used to be a doctor from what Wong told you, but you didn't know what kind.
"I mean- you possess so much knowledge I can only imagine how amazing your neural connections must be." Stephen continued, his hands flying around as the words left his mouth.
"That is the strangest compliment I have ever gotten- I love it." You put your hand on your chest, trying to show your gratitude. "Pun not intended."
Your afternoon was filled with fluid conversations that seemed to have no end. Stephen asked about your family, friends, hobbies. Being your polite self you asked them the same questions and found things that Wong didn't tell you.
For example, the sorcerer supreme used to play piano and was pretty good at it. His love for music extended farther than just listening to sounds- he also liked to create them. The doctor hid it well, but you could see the sadness in his eyes when he told you about his musical skills. It was because of his hands- that was for sure. They wandered down under the table, hiding from your eyes as he spoke about his passions. You had scars of your own- you understood the struggle.
But it was still painful to see- ever since you met him Stephen was nothing but confident in everything he did. Sometimes he walked the thin line between confidence and arrogance, but it was a part of his charm. He never was an asshole- not to you, not to Wong. Not even to that kid who tried to put graffiti on the sanctum's walls two days ago. At the end of the day Stephen- although still very much powerful- was just a man. A human being with insecurities.
"Did you play the banjo as well?" You asked resting your chin on your fist- elbows on the table.
"Just because I'm from Nebraska doesn't mean I know how to play the banjo." Stephen defended himself, throwing his hands in the air dramatically.
"Answer my question, Stephen." You demented, pointing a finger at him and trying to hold in your laughter. Stephen's lips formed a thin line. The red on his cheeks became more prominent- maybe it was the cold.
"Yes." The sorcerer mumbled.
"What was that?"
"I won't repeat myself."

You’ve been in the New York sanctum for over a month now and it was the first time ever that all of you were in the library at the same time. Right after your morning tea the three of you headed there to do your own things- you wanted to finish translating the book on interdimensional herbs, Wong was going to fix a spine of his book of shadows meanwhile Stephen was trying to upgrade some spell. It was quiet, but very cosy. Almost domestic if you dared say that.
Speaking of Stephen- ever since that day in London you became pretty good friends. He talked to you more, made sure you took breaks when working. Sometimes he would invite you to go grocery shopping with him and Wong. Yeah, it was really domestic. You never expected the sorcerer supreme to be so friendly towards you, but you were glad he proved you wrong. You were happy to have a friend like him. This place really felt like home when Wong and Stephen were there with you. You really felt wanted.
Wong was basically family to you and you always felt wanted around him, but it really surprised you how hard Stephen was trying to make you feel at home. Making your favourite food for dinner, taking you on walks. One time you and the doctor were talking about movies and he even suggested a movie night. You accidentally fell asleep on his shoulder that time and Wong took a photo of it. It looked pretty cute- you had to admit that. But the more you looked at that polaroid- or thought about everything you did with Stephen- you realised that there might be something more between the two of you than friendship.
You saw each other every day- talked every day- for over a month now. Just a month but it felt like years. It scared you a bit. How quickly you were developing a crush on this man. And it wasn’t like you didn’t want to get involved with him romantically- Stephen was a great person. But your last relationship left a hole in your heart and even though a lot of time had passed since that failed romance you were still weary when it came to dating. Especially if the person of your interest was the most powerful sorcerer that you have met only a month ago! Plus you were literally working for this man.
It was a shame that you had to leave so soon. After you got your sling ring back you continued to work 24/7, translating 15 books in two weeks which was your new record. Wong had volunteered to book-bind a few pages, making your job even easier. Meaning that you would be done even faster. To be honest you didn’t want to go back to your job in ‘real life’. Yes, you loved it, but you didn’t realise how much you missed the world of sorcery until now.
You were torn between wanting to be a sorcerer again and having a normal life. Your fingers stopped typing as your eyes stared at the bright screen of your laptop- not really focusing on anything. The sound of your keyboard had been the only thing filling the silence. Now the air in the room was dead and empty. Looking around you watched as the two men worked on their own things and decided to take a short break- make some tea for the boys, stretch, think about your future. Stuff like that. And so you left quietly, knowing that neither of them probably even noticed that you were gone.
Little did you know that one of your friends was watching you all the time. Wong sensed that something wasn't right. The moment you picked up another book to translate your mood shifted. It was odd and Wong didn’t like seeing you like this.
“SHIT!” you shrieked as you turned around and saw the librarian, standing in the kitchen doorway. “I could have dropped the kettle!”
“Didn’t mean to scare you.” The man apologised and sat down at the table, trying to figure out how to even start this conversation with you. Deciding it would be easier to just rip the bandaid off he spoke again. “You seem sad today. Is everything alright?”
The question surprised you. “I didn’t think you’d notice.” You didn’t disagree. You didn’t see the point in hiding your feelings and you had always trusted Wong. You could tell him everything without the fear of being judged.
“I wanted to get this job done as quickly as possible-” you said, fiddling with the kettle in your hands. “And now that I'm almost done I don’t think I want to leave.”
“Then stay.” He smiled at the thought of you living in the sanctum again. This last month reminded Wong of the good old days when you used to share a house and do all kinds of stuff together from practising spells to folding laundry.
“Do you think Stephen would allow it?” you asked, shyly. The doctor was in charge of the sanctum after all so it all depended on him and his decision.
“He adores you! Of course he would allow it.” The librarian rolled his eyes when he said the word ‘adore’ which made your face feel a little bit warmer for some reason. “Just ask him about it. He will be thrilled to hear that you’re staying.”

Another week passed and you still haven’t asked Stephen. Wong’s words made you rethink some things and reflect on everything that happened in the last month. Closing the book you’ve been working on for the past two days you realised that there’s only one of them left.
Your friend’s words played in your brain like a broken record.
‘He adores you’
You didn’t want that.
Okay, maybe you did, but you weren’t ready for that yet. You weren’t ready to get your heart broken again. Besides you weren’t planning on staying any longer than necessary so why even worry about it?
Laying on your bed, you stared at the white ceiling, trying to come up with a solution to your- not so little- problem when a knock on your door pulled you out of your head.
“Hi.” Stephen whispered- his head peeking from behind the door. “I saw the light in your room was still on and wanted to check on you.” The sorcerer invited himself in and leaned his shoulder on the wall.
Your eyes fell on the jar of cookies he was holding in his hands. Stephen’s gaze followed yours and the doctor smirked.
“I was going to eat them alone, but since I’m already here would you like one?” He said, taking a step forward and sitting at the edge of your bed. You moved, too- your back straight against the headboard. It created more distance between you which wasn’t really intentional, but you were glad that there was a bit more space. Of course you would love nothing more than to get closer to Stephen, but it was all happening so quickly. And you hated yourself for feeling that way.
“So…” The jar lid popped open and your friend took two cookies out of it, handing you one with a silent question. You took it without thinking twice; your fingers brushed and a shiver went down your spine. “You couldn’t sleep again?”
You signed, taking a bite and not really caring about the crumbs on your sheets.
“Not really.” You managed to say between the bites. Stephen observed you carefully- almost like he was studying your face and all your movements. You had plenty of conversations that started in this exact way. Usually you would talk the night away, but you weren’t in the mood to talk for so long.
“Is everything alright?” The sorcerer’s voice echoed through the room- it was deep and very soft. You loved listening to him talk, not only because you liked how his voice sounded, but also because he was always very nice to you when you two talked.
“Why shouldn’t it be?” You raised your brow, hugging your knees close to your chest to get some comfort.
“Wong said you’ve been ignoring him. And you’ve been ignoring me, too.” The doctor mimicked your pose, now fully sitting on your bed. “I know we don’t know each other as long as you and Wong do, but I still care about you. You are my guest and I would be a horrible host if I didn’t care about your wellbeing.”
You knew he said it to make you feel better- to make sure that you knew that you could trust him. And you did. You trusted Stephen. But not with your feelings. You weren’t even sure what those feelings were.
Were you just excited that you made a new friend and mistook that excitement for romantic attraction? He gave you his attention, but this was what people did when they wanted to be friends with someone. Strange smiled at you once and you were convinced you developed a crush on him. It was pathetic how much you craved love that you were seeing it everywhere even if it wasn’t true. That was probably the reason your last relationship was a disaster. You went into it too quickly and then were surprised that it didn’t work out. You needed more time to think about it- your feelings for Stephen. He was a good friend and you would hate to lose that.
“I really appreciate it, Stephen.” You said with a genuine smile on your face. There was still some uncertainty in your eyes. “I think I’m just a little tired. I tend to overwork myself sometimes.”
“That makes the two of us then.” He smirked and pulled out another cookie. Stephen handed you the jar and you moved closer to him, decreasing the gap between your bodies. “I saw that you have just one book left to translate.”
“Yeah-” You sighed a bit too loud, ignoring the sorcerer’s gaze. “Wong said he would bind them all so I will probably be gone by the end of the next week.” You said, feeling a weird squeeze in your chest. You didn’t know why you felt like that. You leaving wouldn’t be the end of the world! You would still keep in touch with Wong- you have for all those years. So why was it affecting you so much this time?
Stephen stood up, clearing his throat quietly. The man stood up, leaving the cookie jar on your blanket and wiped his hands clean on his pyjama pants.
“You are welcome to stay longer if you want.” The doctor announced and slowly made his way to the door. “Wong and I- we love having you around. I wanted you to know that.”
Stephen left, letting you be alone with your thoughts.

“Do you really want to go back to your old job though?” Wong asked, taking a sip of his morning tea. You liked to talk about many things with him, especially in the morning while you prepared breakfast. But the topic of your old job was making you nervous. It wasn’t really about the job itself- you liked what you were doing. The issue was people- or rather a person- who was still working there. It’s been almost a year since you left and your side gigs couldn’t pay all of your bills. You were happy when Wong called you and asked if you could come by to help translate some stuff, but you were here almost two months and felt like you should leave soon. You wouldn’t have to figure out your feelings for Stepehn if he wasn’t around.
“I have to make money somehow.” You flipped a pancake and put on a fake smile.
“You could find something here in New York. And you wouldn’t have to worry about rent since you’d be living here.” Your friend proposed.
It wasn’t a bad idea- now that you think of it it was an excellent idea. You really couldn’t argue with that.
“I will think about it.”
“That’s all you’ve been doing lately.”
Why was it so hard for you to open up to Wong now? You never had a problem with that before. Taking a deep breath you decided to rip the bandaid off.
“I think I have feelings for Stephen.” You breathed out, looking at your dear friend and waiting for his response. All you got was a hysterical laugh.
“That’s a good one!” Wong said, slapping his knee repeatedly. “Oh dear, I love your jokes.”
But you didn’t laugh.
“No- you’re-” the librarian lowered his tone, almost whispering. “No.”
“Yes.”
“Are you sure?”
That was a good question. Were you sure?
“I don’t know.” A tear rolled down your face- you didn’t even know why you were so emotional about it. You didn’t even know for sure and you were making such a scene. Putting your face in your hands you shook your head and cried. “I don’t know, Wong!”
You were trembling and breathing heavily in your friend’s arms and didn’t even notice that you were walking somewhere- the librarian guiding you. You couldn’t see well because of the tears, but you recognised the outline of your room. Your knees hit something soft and if Wong didn’t turn you around you would flop on the bed face first.
It took you half an hour to calm down.
You missed breakfast that day, too.
✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧
Taking a deep breath you put your sweater on and exit the library. You tried to do something productive, but nothing was going your way today. First the fiasco in the kitchen, then you isolating for the rest of your day and now sneaking out to the library when everyone else was asleep. What was going on with you?
Your stomach spoke, demanding food. You weren’t surprised- you haven’t eaten anything at all. And you really should do that. You can’t keep destroying yourself because of one tiny inconvenience.
Your bare feet walked through the wooden floors leading to the small kitchen you love so much.
“Midnight snack?” Someone spoke, making you jump and bump your leg into a chair. “I’m so sorry.” The familiar voice apologised, gently putting a hand on your shoulder to see if everything was alright. “I thought you saw me.”
“It’s fine.” You shrugged it off, massaging your knee to ease the pain a little. “I wasn’t paying attention.” You straightened your back and realised how close to you Stephen was.
Your heart skipped a beat.
“Would you like some tea? I was gonna make myself a cup.” The sorcerer proposed, taking a step back and giving you space.
Playing with the sleeves of our sweater you jumped on the counter- your favourite place to sit- and nodded. “I would kill for a cup of tea right now.”
“No killing will be necessary. I will do it willingly.” Stephen smirked, taking two ceramic mugs out of the upper cupboard. You noticed that one of them was your favourite mug- you used it literally every day and Stephen was a very observant person so it shouldn’t be surprising that he knew what you used to drink and from where. “The usual?” He asked, throwing a kitchen towel over his shoulder like a bartender, making you giggle.
“Make it double.” You said, playing along.
“So what brings you here at this hour?” The doctor asked, pouring the hot water into your mugs and then putting the tea inside.
“I wanted to get some work done, but I couldn’t focus.” You explained. Your friend handed you your tea and you thanked him with a shy smile.
“Wong said you had a really bad anxiety attack this morning-” the man hopped on the counter right next to you, his baby blues looking at you with some kind of softness you haven’t  seen in him before. “-and I know you probably don’t want to talk about it which is fine-” he spoke, not really knowing where he was going with it. He wanted to make you feel better, but Stephen wasn’t the best at expressing his emotions. He was going to try though. For you. “-but i want you to know that you can trust me and I can find you some professional help if you need it. I know a few people who would be able to help.”
“I don’t-” you tried to defend yourself, but your voice shook. “I’m not crazy. I don’t need it!”
“Where is this coming from?” The doctor asked, confused . “Therapy can be for everyone no matter what and there’s nothing wrong with getting help.” He turned to you to get a better look at your face. He looked surprised by your little outburst, but he knew there was more to the story.
“You think so?” Suddenly you felt small. You have been to therapy before, but your ex wasn’t really supportive of that. You were called a variety of names. You were shamed and gaslighted into believing that you seeking help was a sign of weakness. That’s why you stopped going. You stopped taking your meds. And when you hit the rock bottom your partner decided that you weren’t worth all the trouble and left. You were scared of asking for help again- it was a weird fear, but it just wouldn’t let go of you.
“I know it.” Stephen’s gentle voice made you tear up a bit. “I’m no psychologist, but I have contacts. If you want I can accompany you to the first session. Or Wong.” He put your arm around you, drawing random shapes on your shoulder in a soothing motion.
You gave in and embraced him, throwing your arms around his neck and sobbing quietly.
“Thank you, Stephen.” You whispered and felt his hold on you tightening.
“Did anyone ever tell you that it was wrong to go to therapy?” The doctor asked in a hushed voice. He didn’t break the hug.
“You could say that.” You sniffled, face still hiding in his chest. You were sure there was already a wet spot from all your tears on his shirt. “An ex of mine had very strong opinions about me taking meds and going to therapy.”
“What a dick.” Stephen huffed, anger radiated from him. If he ever met that person he would send them to some crazy dimensions to fuck with their mind. “They didn’t deserve you.”
“There’s a reason this person is an ex.” You smiled sadly and took a deep breath. “Wong had already kicked that asshole’s butt so don’t worry.” You giggled at the memory. Violence was never the answer, but in that case it was really appreciated. “But ever since then I was kinda scared of reaching out, you know?”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” Your friend’s hand wandered from your shoulder up to your hair and gently massaged your scalp, making you melt in his arms. “I will make some calls first thing in the morning. You should see someone as soon as possible. Especially if you need medication.” He said. You could hear the determination in his voice. Stephen was nothing like your last partner. He really cared. He supported you and wanted the best for you. And even if there could never be anything more than friendship between you you would still be happy to have him in your life. “When was the last time you took your meds.”
"I'm embarrassed to say." You straightened your back and let your hands fall from Stephen's neck. He was still holding you, knowing you still needed some comfort.
"You don't have to tell me, but please mention it to your therapist, okay?" The sorcerer gave your shoulder a light pat and hopped off the counter. "Our tea is getting cold." You smiled and followed your friend to sit at the table. You saw him taking a sip from his tea and cringe. "The bags were in the water for too long. It's really bitter."
You sighed, putting the mugs in the sink. It was probably a sign that you should go back to your room.
"There's a place 3 blocks away with great Thai food." Strange looked at you with a silent question. You couldn't say no to food, but you weren't sure if it was a good idea to go out so late. "They also have great tea and I know for a fact that they are still open." He sensed your hesitation, but refused to leave you alone in your room with your thoughts. You had to get away from here- even if it was just for a few minutes. "I'm paying."

Walking side by side with Stephen, your arms in your pockets to shield them from the cold midnight air, you looked around to see plenty of people doing all kinds of stuff. New York truly never slept. It was a part of its charm.
The doctor offered you his arm when a group of tourists passed through the crowd, almost pulling you in with them. You liked big cities, but you absolutely hated the crowds. You hooked your hand in the place between Stephen's arm and his elbow, holding it tightly. It didn’t take long for you to get to the restaurant Stephen told you about. You visited many places like this with the boys when neither of you wanted to cook anything, but this building wasn’t familiar to you.
Stephen opened the door for you like the gentleman he was and as you stepped inside you were hit with a variety of smells. Your stomach reminded you of its existence once more and you were sure everyone in the room could hear it.
Your friend waved his hand at the older lady behind the counter with a smile on his face. He gestured at the small table in the corner- hidden from everyone’s eyes- and took your jacket. Taking two menus from the wooden napkin holder in the middle of your table, Stephen handed you one, his cold fingers leaving a feather-like sensation on your palm.
“Their green curry is delicious.” The sorcerer said, turning his menu around and pointing at the picture on top.
“I will have to take your word for that, Doctor.” You smirked actually feeling some happiness in you after the entire day of sleeping in your depression cave you called the bedroom.
“What tea would you like?” He asked, tapping a finger on his knee to the beat of the song playing from the radio. Your eyes scanned the pages of the little book in your hands. Stephen was watching you while you tried to make a choice. You looked adorable with your hair a bit messy from the wind, biting your lip deep in thought. The sorcerer smiled- you couldn’t see it, but the look he gave you was full of adoration.
“I think I will get the Thai Ice Tea.” You announced, putting your menu aside. Turning your head to face Stephen you noticed that he was staring and immediately became self conscious. “Do I have something on my face?”
“What? No it’s just-” The doctor straightened his back, blushing. The awkward pause between you was interrupted by the waitress who appeared at your table.
“Stephen! It’s so good to see you here, honey.” The older woman you saw earlier behind the counter pinched the man’s cheek in an affectionate manner. The sorcerer groaned, but couldn’t hide the smile on his face. “What can I get you today, sweetie?”
“It’s good to see you too, Malee. You look beautiful as ever.” The doctor leaned back in his chair and put on his charming smile. “Did you get a haircut?”
“Oh, I did!” the woman giggled, taking a pen out of her pocket. “But the flattery won’t give you a discount.”
“It was worth a try.” The sorcerer shrugged. You watched this exchange with a huge grin. You were enjoying their little interaction. It was kinda sweet. “We would like two plates of green curry and  two ice teas.”
Malee quickly  wrote down your order and put the pen back into the pocket of her jeans. “I will bring you your drinks right away.” She said, tugging her long grey hair behind her ear.
“I will go get them, just tell me when they’re done!” Stephen called as the women walked through the door leading to the kitchen. “She has really weak hands, she shouldn’t carry anything heavy.” Your friend explained, turning back to you.
“She’s a lovely lady.” You mentioned, trying to change the subject. You wanted to keep a steady conversation, fearing that if you fell silent your thoughts would spiral in the wrong direction again.  “Very lively.”
“She is just the sweetest.” The doctor’s smile made the wrinkles under his eyes stand out. He looked good like that. “Wong and I come here very often when we pull all-nighters.”
“I can see why.” You looked around, your eyes scanning the art on the walls and the curtains that matched the floor. “It’s very cosy here.”
You didn’t realise it, but you were swaying to the music playing through the speakers. You were enjoying the moment of peace and Stephen’s presence helped with that a lot. You also didn’t notice when the sorcerer stood up to get your tea. He put the glasses on the table and gave you a smile. A teenage boy walked behind him with a tray of your food. And oh, you were so excited to finally eat something after a long day. You were all set when Melee came up to you with a little candle and matches. She put it in the middle of the table, surprising both you and Stephen.
“Enjoy your date.” She winked at you and left, leaving both of you out of words.
“I just want to clarify that I didn’t intend for it to be a date.” Stephen said, awkwardly scratching his neck.
“Oh, yeah. I-” You didn’t want to let it show, but you were a little hurt by his response.
“It’s just- you had a really rough night and I-I wanted to provide some comfort.” The sorcerer explained, stumbling over his own words.
“I understand, Stephen. It’s really okay.” You took a sip of your tea- the flavours melting on your tongue made your stomach calm down a bit. You were fighting back your tears- you didn’t want to ruin the night even more.
“And besides, a restaurant seems a little cliche for a date.”  The doctor cleared his throat and took a fork in his  right hand. “If I was to ask you out on a date it would be something special.” He mumbled, but you heard him perfectly clear. “If you agreed, of course.”
“Really?” You asked- your voice still felt weak, but there was a bit of hope behind your eyes. “You would ask me on a date if you knew I would say yes?”
“I would ask you regardless of your answer and handle rejection like a big boy.” He said in a joking tone, but you knew he meant that. “But the timing doesn’t seem right right now, does it?” He smiled sadly at you and got busy with his food.
“What do you mean by that?” You asked, trying to decipher the meaning of Stephen’s words.
“I mean-” Your friend took a deep breath, looking you deep in the eyes. “You are still working for me. You are also living in a place where I’m technically the boss. I’m about to help you find a therapist.” Stephen explained. “I don’t want you to feel obligated to agree to go on a date with me just because you feel like you should.”
You were taken aback by this answer- not in a bad way. It showed that Stephen really cared about you. You never felt like you owed him anything, but he took your valuable state of mind  into consideration which made you feel really appreciated. He wanted to make sure that you would feel comfortable in this relationship- that you wouldn’t feel trapped and obligated to being with him.
“I really appreciate that, Stephen.” You smiled, taking a spoonful of rice. “I wouldn’t say no if you asked me- not because I live under your roof. You are a great man and anyone would be lucky to have you.” A familiar warmth creeped up your face. It made you feel like a middle school child having their very first crush.
Stephen’s eyes shyly wandered around the room. Your words made his heart beat faster. He had to run the conversation in his head twice to make sure you really just said what he thought you said. The sorcerer wasn’t the best at showing his feelings- especially romantic ones- but with you it seemed to be much easier.
“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where it gets us.” Strange replied, looking at you one more time. You locked eyes and smiled.
And for the first time in ages you didn’t worry about the future.
“How was your session today?” Wong greeted you with a hug and a cup of fresh tea as you entered the kitchen. The smell of cheese hit your nostrils, making you salivate. Home sweet home.
“It was pretty good.” You said, taking a sip of your hot beverage.”I will probably get new meds soon.”
“That’s fantastic!” The librarian cheered.

Ever since Stephen helped you start therapy again you became more alive. You didn’t realise how much stuff affected your mental health until now. You’ve been going to that Doctor for 3 months now and you couldn’t believe how much changed in such a short amount of time. You were going easy on yourself- you were slowly unlearning your old self destructive behaviours like working 24/7 without a break or bottling up your emotions. Wong was very supportive and helped in any way he could. In some way your therapy helped him relax a bit. He promised to take you on a hike every weekend- something you loved doing when you were younger- and he didn’t say it often, but he loved that, too. It was your quality time with Wong. Even if he had a ton of work to do he always made sure to finish before the weekend, not wanting to miss that time with you.
And then there was Stephen. You’ve been in New York for almost 6 months now and Stephen was nothing but kind to you. Your relationship progressed very quickly and the two of you became best friends in no time. Of course there was still the question of your feelings, but you both agreed to give it time. But with every passing day you fell more and more for him. Little did you know that the sorcerer supreme felt the same way. He was still shy around you at times, but you always made sure you were both comfortable no matter what you were doing. You spent plenty of time together from practising spells to watching movies. You cherished all these moments.
You finished translating the last book a few weeks ago- Stephen and Wong insisted that you take a break and focus on your health. Work could always wait. The librarian convinced you to let him bind those books by himself so that you could have more free time. Those guys were the best thing that had ever happened to you.
“Is that lasagna I smell?” The doctor walked into the kitchen through a portal and took a seat right next to you.
“It is!” Wong said, proudly as he took the dish out of the oven and put it on the table. “Did you bring the wine?” He asked, looking around in hope to find a bottle.
“I didn’t know you wanted me to.” Stephen said, setting the table for the three of you. “I can go get it. There’s a few more bottles in the basement.”
“No, it’s fine. I will get them.” The librarian said and walked out of the room. He used it as an excuse to leave you and Stephe alone but you didn’t have to know that.
“I heard your session went well today.” The sorcerer spoke, sitting down on his chair.
“It really did.” You smiled, following his lead.
“What are your plans for today?” Your friend asked, wanting to make some small talk before executing his little plan and asking you out. This time officially.
“Oh, I think I have a date.” You said with a sprinkle of uncertainty in your voice.
Stephen was stunned by your answer- a little bit hurt, too. It wasn’t like you had swore to go on a date with him, but the things were going so well between you the doctor assumed you felt the same. Apparently that wasn’t the case and Stephen respected your decision.
“Oh, a date?”
“Yeah, I don’t know if he agrees though. He’s kinda busy with sorcery stuff and all that.” You bit your lip, trying to stop yourself from smiling.
Stephen exhaled in relief, with a smirk on his face.
“I’m sure he will find some time for you.” He announced, playing along. “He already cleared out his schedule for you.”
You giggled like a little kid, taking Stephen’s hand in yours and placing a gentle kiss on his knuckles. “It’s a date then, doctor.”
“I believe it is.”

ok, well, this is kind of ridiculous and sad, but the husband of one of the sicktember mods is now harassing me on my personal blog for giving some pretty lukewarm criticism of the event in the past few years. i have not picked fights with anyone or tried to incite any kind of ire myself, just been professional and upfront with how much it's sucked to fall out of love with my favourite writing event. i sadly deleted the more vitriolic response i got from them, but here is what they left on my post:
Tumblr media
again, i cannot stress enough, i have not contacted the mods in any capacity! i have not left any tags on their posts, i have not interacted with them except last year to ask permission for a spinoff blog, all my thoughts & feelings have just been on my personal blog.
in 2022, i filled every prompt for sicktember, totalling at 92 thousand words total. in 2023, i did the same, at 118 thousand words. i adore this event, so much so that i complete it every year despite my busy work schedule. it has always been my absolute favourite--the accessibility of it, the community, the prep time, writing with people who love the fic trope as much as i.
i am not just some rando. i am not just some bad actor, here to incite drama. i am a fan of this event who has been consistently supportive and celebratory, using my large following to both plug said event and rope my many servers and friends into it. in fact, in 2022, my friends and i wrote more fills for our fandom than any other:
Tumblr media
that is us. i counted, and only 4 of the fills in the aa tag are by people not in my immediate friend circle.
i love this event enough i have physical books of all our fills:
Tumblr media
...and this isn't even all of them, this is just how many i could afford to make at the time. i don't know how to prove that i am a savant for this event, and a passionate supporter. not from day one, as i didn't know of it until 2022... but definitely for the long-haul.
it is really unfortunate that this is the response the fans of this event are getting. in my initial post i talked about how resistant to feedback the event runners are are, but now we are getting full-on attacks if we don't blindly worship every aspect of said event and kiss the event runners' feet.
a word to the wise: when you run an event, it is not so black and white. it is not just two sides, where one is "i am spending time and effort on this thing i love and how to best share it with others, so i do not owe them anything." and the other is "i must bend to the whims of everything my fellows ask!" there is nuance in the middle, where you can keep firm in your ideals, protect your free time, and still listen to what your community is saying. compromise is a wonderful skill to learn.
either way, sending your friends & family to pick fights with the disappointed or barely critical fans of your event on their personal blogs is wretched behaviour regardless. i am not interested in petty internet arguments with people. i am interested in making my feelings known with the hope that maybe something can be changed. whether that be that the mods loosen up to community feedback & try to open a dialogue, or some folks who feel similarly to me take it as inspiration to make their own sickfic-centric prompt event, or nothing happens at all--it doesn't matter.
but this is literally my personal blog. where i post my personal feelings. if you don't like them, ignore them, scroll past them, block me if you must.
i have 3000 words of sicktember prep in another window and wholeheartedly plan to attempt my best to stick to my record of doing every single fill and having a blast. but if another event comes along, and the mods of this one don't intend to change how they interact with their fans, it won't really be a contest where i go from there.
this is not a call for harrassment, please do not act unkind or bother anyone involved here, i'm just sad man. and i figure if people are gonna start attacking more outspoken members of the community, y'all might want their usernames to block.
as always, i will keep on writing for you guys.

One of my favorite little strategies for when I am struggling with the far-too-frequent feelings of self-loathing is rapidly becoming this ridiculously basic thing: say nice things to people.
Remind a loved one that you love them. Thank a mentor or role model. Compliment a stranger (in a non-creepy way). Leave a comment on a piece of fanfic. Tell a colleague how much you appreciate the great job they did on that project last week. Send a supportive ask.
See, what I've found is that it makes it a bit harder for my brain to keep insisting that I am horrible, worthless, nothing but a useless burden on everyone around me, etc. etc... when I have evidence that I just put something positive into someone else's life.
(And yes, kind words do put something very positive into the life of the recipient. If I ever start to doubt that, I just need to stop and remember a time or two when I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end. Kindness counts. It matters.)
If approaching people in person feels out of reach, that's okay. Try an email, text message, or DM. Feeling shy? Turn on anon and send a nice ask to your favorite Tumblr blogger.
(Confession moment: I started occasionally doing that back before I even had a Tumblr account at all, when I was a blog-less lurker on this here Hellsite. It's remarkably fun, being a disembodied voice. 10/10 do recommend.)
Whatever works, resonates, and feels accessible for you.
If you're someone who enjoys vicarious happiness, you may get an additional benefit if/when the person responds. (When I'm low in self-image, I also tend to be low in general mood. Making someone smile reminds me that, hey, smiling is possible.)
If you're someone who, like me, tends to socially isolate or withdraw when feeling down (which can be quite the vicious cycle), complimenting someone provides a moment of interaction.
If the recipient of your kindness is someone you already know, a family member or friend, you'll be strengthening that relationship; and if you choose a stranger, who knows, perhaps that classmate you've never spoken to before is a future friend.
You'll be practicing expressing kindness and caring, developing skills that may eventually translate into self-talk.
And the best part? Well, look, people are different. Just because this helps me doesn't guarantee it will help you. For that matter, it doesn't always help me. Brains are complicated.
But there's nothing to lose. Worst case scenario, you've brightened someone's day, and the world has a little more kindness in it.

Will you be my valentine? - (Valentine’s) date with Ezarel
pairing: Ezarel x gn!reader
genre: fluff(?)
word count: 907
warnings: none
a/n: welcome on my blog! this is reupload from my other account. i hope you enjoy it! I decided to change the gardienne to a gender-neutral reader to make it easier to identify with MC. please don't hesitate to drop suggestions and/or comments in my inbox!!
Tumblr media
Ezarel didn’t celebrate Valentine's Day. Before his relationship with Y/N, he thought it was a shallow day. In his opinion, a loved one should be shown affection on more than just one particular day. He looked with contempt at couples who competed with each other to see who would give the bigger bouquet to their loved ones. Deep down inside, however, little Ez spoke to him.
As a child, he looked up to his parents and their relationship with admiration. He remembered well how his parents gave each other small, symbolic objects. Small gestures were the most important. Valentine's Day looked similar, but it had something special about it. Thinking about it, the day of lovers, when he was a little boy and barely tied his own shoelaces, came to his mind. For about a week, Ezarel practically saw his father in general. As the royal alchemist, he had little free time, but he always found a moment to at least tell him about the plants and their properties. The boy was angry with his father for the way he treated him and his mother. He saw that his mother also felt the absence of her husband. However, Valentine's Day surprised him. On that day, he witnessed a scene that was memorable to him. His mother received from his father, a beautiful painting depicting their family. Little Ez then decided that he too would treat his other half this way.
The period before his first Valentine's Day in a serious relationship was very stressful for him. As a child, he thought a lot about this moment. He remembered his parents telling him to take care of his future partner and put his heart into everything he would do for that person. Now, however, he had no idea what he could arrange. After all, he was just a simple alchemist without much interest. He had once dabbled in a bit of art, thanks to his parents, but that had been in the past. If he gave his beloved a sculpture made by him now, they would probably hide it deep in the closet so that they would not have to look at it. The poem is also out. The only things he can write now are recipes for various potions and alchemical notes. He squirmed with embarrassment at the thought of singing a song he had written. Not everyone has an artistic hand.
Valentine's Day came before he knew it. From the very morning, he was running around HQ trying to think what he could give his beloved. Time was passing at a dizzying pace for him. The day definitely didn’t bring the expected results. Ezarel had nothing. Almost nothing. Angry at himself and tired, he headed to his lab.
The elf carefully opened a glass case in a separate room that only he had access to. From it, he took out a bouquet of nine red roses. He sighed disappointedly looking at the flowers. Nine roses. "I want to be with you forever." That would have to be the karma that got him for how he used to view couples on lovers' day. Now all he was left with was the hope that his beloved would appreciate the gesture.
He slowly walked towards his partner's room. He wanted to delay this moment in time as much as possible. They won't like it. They will laugh at him. Intrusive thoughts occupied the elf's head.
He took a deep breath in and out to calm himself as much as possible. His own heartbeat drummed in his ears. He knocked uncertainly on the door. Silence.
Valentine's Day occupied his thoughts so much that he unconsciously avoided them. They’re probably angry and won't even accept these dang flowers.
The elf's panic grew by the second.
- Ezarel, here you are. It's been a while since we last met. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?
The blue-haired man jumped away from the door he had been standing in front of. He looked surprised at his amused partner. Their eyes were staring at him. Beautiful eyes that he could stare into for hours. The smile on their face made the panic completely disappear. Ezarel walked up to his beloved.
His gaze rested on the flowers.
- I'm sorry I've been avoiding you. I wanted to organize something for THIS DAY, but I overestimated my abilities. These flowers look ridiculous next to you. They seemed beautiful before, but now that I look at you... - Ezarel lifted his gaze and momentarily melted into his beloved's eyes. - They seem pale. You have dimmed their beauty. I wanted to do something to make this Valentine's Day special, sorry. I brought you roses. Nine red roses are the symbol of eternal love. I decided to finally use my skills as a GREAT alchemist. These roses will never wilt. You understand, eternal love and the eternal roses that symbolize it... You are a very special person. I still wonder how it happened that you chose me. I'm a lucky man.
Ezarel was convinced that he was now as red as a peony. He felt like a teenager in love who can't see the world outside his loved one.
He grunted and handed the flowers to his partner with confidence.
- You are about to have a wonderful and unforgettable date with the wonderful, smartest, most handsome, funniest and best elf alchemist. So...will you be my Valentine?

feelin down and i just love this blog sm. i was wondering if u had any dtk (or kidstar) hc’s u wanted to share maybe. if not though i hope u have a wonderful day, seeing u on my dash always makes me smile.
OH MY GOD A SOUL EATER ASK?? /POS
i just got a huge serotonin boost tysm anon
YES I DO I JUST GOTTA GO GRAB EM
dtk:
the older Kid gets the less human he seems. Like once he's a full shinigami he gets a whole bunch of power that his dad had that sort of strip away his likeness to humans
going off of ^^ I think Kid's human form is constructed. His true form probably looks more like LD but it's not something he was particularly taught to embody/access so he just sorta stays in his human form
HOWEVER, I really like the idea that Kid just sorta.. generally freaks people out. There's a theory of horror that says monster characters can feel scary just because even though they look it, people can tell they are not quite human. and i think Kid has exactly that effect on people
Kid has regenerative powers because his human form is more of a construct/image than an actual biological organism. he's really made of the same stuff from LD's "cape". so he can't really be killed or severely injured for long, especially as he matures and gets more powerful. I think the only way he can take permanent damage is if his soul itself is affected. Sure he can be hurt and it does hurt but soon he learns to sort of turn off extreme pain, and he always ALWAYS regenerates or recovers. But he's always aware that his friends don't. so if he needs to he'll throw himself in front of his human friends if they're dealt a fatal hit to make sure they aren't severely hurt. This becomes a bad habit when he's older. But his friends always try to protect him too and take care of him, and he unlearns the habit
Liz and Patty set him up on social media and he started with a whopping 1 follower for like a week, but then got millions of followers overnight after Soul (who has a good following count bc of his family's social status) mentioned him and everyone freaked out. That was the way the world found out Lord Death's kid existed. He and Soul destroy bullies together online. Patty pretends to be Kid on his account.
Kid is the Adrien Agreste of soul eater. very popular, people love the image they see of him in the news and interviews and stuff (I think its a lot harder for him to avoid publicity after the anime), but he's a lot different in person and only really gets close to the people who get to know him. everyone else has a sort of skewed perception of him. AKA he is Death's Son and Death's son only to them
Kid can sing but he typically doesn't because he likes to prepare first but doesn't particularly want to take the time to learn a song correctly. He appreciates the art but wouldn't do it. the only thing he knows well is some ancient song his dad taught him in some sort of inhuman language. he sang it ONE time and it freaked Liz out so much she didn't speak to him for a week
Before Kid took them in, Liz would sing ONLY for Patty. And only to comfort her. She did this after they moved into the manor too, when Patty would get nightmares from their life before or just generally have a hard time or anything. One time after Patty woke up from a nightmare and Liz went in to calm her down, Kid was walking by and just stopped at the almost-closed door when he heard Liz singing because A. He wants to know if his sisters are ok and B. He probably doesn't hear many people sing casually, and has definitely never heard Liz sing before and it's... nice?? He stays there for a while but moves on the second Liz finishes so he's not caught. He doesn't say anything. But then after one awful awful mission, Liz is singing to help Patty sleep and Kid just. Stands in the doorway, disheveled and exhausted and they all just,, stare at each other for a moment until Patty opens her arms and Kid shuffles over, a little embarrassed and puts his head in her lap. They are all very tired. And then Liz (after getting over herself) just keeps singing until the two of them fall asleep
Kid only knows how to cry/to cry when he's upset because he saw Maka do it when they were young and now he's a pro. Because he only really LOOKS human a lot of human behavior doesn't come naturally for him so he learns from humans around him. He's much better at mimicking and adopting human behavior than Lord Death, which was LD's whole idea
He's shorter than Liz and Patty until he's about 20, then he's shorter than Liz but taller than Patty
Kid can pick up languages really easily. I think if he's immersed he can speak fluently after a couple hours
I've thought about a thing where individual people outside of Death City think he looks different than how anyone else sees him, like a sort of PJO Aphrodite situation but that may be too much of an identity crisis for him lol
There are no government records confirming Kid exists. The only document or ID he has is that little card from LD that says I'm LD's son I can do what I want and nobody questions it
Kid's human form ages normally until he's an adult but when he's mature his aging slows until it finally stops at some point, not sure when.. maybe around appearing 40?
he is gay and ace and has a very loose concept of gender
only Liz and Patty can touch his hair but only when they're at home
Kid and Maka are besties I don't make the rules. She is the only one he will allow to help with his detective work
Kid and Patty cannot be left unsupervised together or there will be some sort of chaos. they are scarily effective on duo missions, even though Kid doesn't use Patty as a weapon for those occasions
Kid doesn't need to sleep but he does if there are other people around (having Liz and Patty in the house helps) because it's refreshing and he read somewhere it helps build trust
Eyes glow in the dark and he can see fine in the dark
Kidstar:
They're about the same height but Black Star gets a growth spurt and is a few inches taller when they're adults
Kid figures out his feelings first (takes a bit rip) but doesn't do anything about them because he feels like he can't because of his responsibilities
^^ That being said I think Black Star has always been generally aware of his feelings for Kid but he doesn't actually put two and two together until literally the moment before he makes his move lol
I don't think they refer to the other as their boyfriend specifically (at least not often) they just sorta... idk man they're partners, they can't describe their relationship in words dont look at me i'm sobbing
first kiss in the rain lets go
majority of physical affection they do is like. hand holding or light touches on the shoulder or arm it is very special to them
more of a future thing (i got a whole future au so ofc i'll talk abt a future thing lol) i dont think they'd ever feel the need to get married bc they're both stubborn and they got all of eternity to be together and I think a lot of their relationship just generally remains unlabelled and unspoken it just IS
OH sort of ignoring my second kidstar hc I had a hc they got together sometime before the mission to the arctic but nobody except like. Killik knew
For funsies I'll throw in a couple of Black Star headcanons
Tsubaki is teaching him Japanese and how to cook
^^ he likes to cook for his friends even though he's not that good at it yet
Mom is Latina I have some stuff about her here. He starts to learn Spanish after he finds out about her
First partner and first kiss was Killik but they had a mutual and friendly break up
Somehow beats mortality while remaining human idk how he just does ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That is all I can think of right now but I hope you enjoy :)

the two of us (against the world)
Pairing: Wolffe x f!Reader, Reader insert
Rating: Mature (implications of sexual activity, so minors DNI)
Word Count: 2k
A. N. : aka Boost and Sinker set up the commander, and get clowned on by you and him lmao. as my url suggests, i am a wolffe girlie through and through. i love my grumpy man but my take is that the grumpiness would be a shield for his nerves in this situation. this is my second fic ever! pls let me know what you think <3 i love this au and all the other creators who are submitting their work! props to the team running this blog too!!!
Content Warnings: very mild sexual harassment of clones (for practical joke purposes)
Boost and Sinker were two of the most honourable troopers in the GAR. Except when it came to the personal life of their dear Commander Wolffe.
“BOOST! SINKER! What the hells did you two di’kuts do?”
Snickers echoed in the 104th barracks as Wolffe came storming through the door. As he rounded the corner, Boost and Sinker rose to attention, stifling their laughter.
“Sorry, sir, not sure what this is in reference to.” Boost replied calmly, staring straight ahead.
“What this is in reference to, trooper, is this message outlining the details of my DATE tomorrow evening.” Wolffe shoved his datapad into Boost’s armoured chest.
“Congratulations, sir.” Sinker said, daring to make eye contact with Wolffe.
“We’re very happy for you, commander. The rest of the pack will be glad to hear it too.” Boost added. Wolffe was practically purple in the face.
“Well, thanks for that, troopers. In your excitement, I assume you’ve forgotten that my officer credentials can view the holonet access logs, you absolute shabuirs.” The troopers eyes’ widened as Sinker swatted Boost.
“I told you we should’ve used someone else’s!”
Boost only smirked, “In that case, sir, we may as well come clean. Sinker and I… We submitted an application to a matchmaking service on your behalf, sir.” Wolffe pinched the bridge of his nose with gloved fingers.
“I’m going to put you both on latrine duty for the rest of your kriffing service.”
Boost returned the datapad and tried to reason with his brother, “You can’t back out and disappoint this poor girl, commander! She’s expecting you.” Sinker nodded in agreement.
“I have better things to do with my time than go on dates.” Wolffe enunciated the last word with disgust. Sinker rolled his eyes.
“Come on, sir, we know you have your fun, but the war is ending. It’s time to find someone to enjoy life with.”
Boost’s face lit with excitement. “Yeah! Sinker’s right. We get to do that now! That’s what this whole matchmaking thing is for!”
Wolffe paused, attempting to suspend his anger for a second. The boys had somewhat of a point, as half-baked their attempt at secrecy may have been. Wolffe had earned a reputation for himself as a perennial playboy, always entertaining one-night flings, but never forming more than a physical connection. Begrudgingly, he acknowledged that his brothers had applied for a match on his behalf out of kindness, and not just for entertainment.
“Fine. Whatever I have to do to get you two off my back about this.”
Wolffe’s stomach threatened to betray him, as he sat waiting for his date on the patio of the most renowned Alderaanian restaurant in the upper levels of Coruscant. The day had trickled by, as he meandered through his administrative work in anticipation of the evening’s events. He had only ever experienced one other situation that could be classified as a date via technicality, because his companion had wanted a late-night bite on the way home from making out in a booth in 79s. Lost in the memory of that night, trying to keep it from meshing with so many others, he almost missed when you exited the speeder cab on the platform in front of the restaurant. Almost, but not quite.
You were breath-taking, to put it lightly. Wolffe silently cursed Boost, Sinker, himself, and whatever gods happened to be listening for allowing him to be put in this situation. He braced himself as you walked through the entrance and a waiter escorted you towards him. Wiping his hands down the front of his thighs, he smoothed out his dress greys and stood to greet you.
You blushed as you neared the table, taking in the sight of your date. Wolffe’s mind raced with anxiety: were you intimidated by his cybernetic eye? Had you recognized him? Did you know about his reputation? Perhaps one of his brothers would be better suited for you. Someone less damaged, physically and emotionally.
He tried to shake that thought as you reached the table. He greeted you with your name, as you took your seat across from him.
“Yes. Commander Wolffe, is that right?” You followed with a small, tight-lipped smile.
“Just Wolffe is fine.” He said quickly, if a little gruff.
As you settled at the table, you tried to make polite conversation.
“So… You’re a commander? What’s that been like?”
He froze. He wasn’t used to companions — civilians — inquiring about his work. Frankly, it was a mood killer. Especially when it came to the missions Wolffe had (barely) survived.
“Uh, yes. It’s… demanding.” He decided he would spare you the literal gory details.
You broke eye contact, choosing to focus on the menu in front of you. “Oh, of course.” A beat of silence passed. “You and your brothers are probably excited that the war is winding down?”
Again, this was not what he expected to discuss tonight. He was off his game, trying to keep his typical urges to flirt in check. You weren’t a conquest in the dark booths of 79s, you were a proper date in this proper restaurant. Wolffe figured that tonight warranted a certain level of decorum from him.
“Yes. I- We look forward to it.” Did he? What’s a soldier to do without a war to fight? He furrowed his brow in thought.
“Ah. Glad to hear it.” Another small smile graced your lips. He thought about how lovely they would feel, how soft they would be. You continued to study the menu intently. “Have you eaten Alderaanian food before? This menu is huge, I’m not really sure what I want.”
Kriff. He could count on one hand the number of times he had eaten non-GAR issued meals, let alone in a proper establishment with a menu.
“No, I haven’t.” Wolffe kept his eyes down, trying to make sense of what the menu entailed.
As if the gods above were showing mercy, the waiter approached your table, ready to take your orders. You decided on their chef’s feature, and an Alderaanian wine. Your expression conveyed to the waiter they could be generous with their pour. Wolffe ordered the same dish and a glass of water. He didn’t trust his nerves enough to not be operating at 100% sobriety. Once the waiter departed, he excused himself to the fresher. After a quick self-pep-talk, Wolffe was back to the table.
When he returned, he contemplated how long he had been gone for. The waiter was currently trading glasses with you, handing off what looked like your third glass of wine. He paid it no mind and sat down, neatly tucking his napkin over his lap, as he learned was proper table manners from some video on the holonet. Another waiter approached with your dinners. From what Wolffe could distinguish, it looked like some carved roast meat with a side of vegetables in assorted colours.
The two of you began to each take polite bites of your dishes. After a minute of eating together in silence, you downed a long sip of wine. You cleared your throat, keeping your face expressionless.
“When you were in the fresher, did you have the chance to remove the stick from your ass?”
Wolffe choked on the piece of food in his mouth. Collecting the napkin from his lap to clear his throat, he struggled to regain composure. “What?!”
“You heard me, Wolffe.” You narrowed your eyes, a devilish glint behind them. “Or are you always this much of a grouch?” Snorting, and obviously pleased with your outburst, you returned to your wine glass.
He rubbed the back of his neck, a small flush growing across his face. “I-I’m sorry. I’m usually… Well, I guess I usually am. I’m sorry if I’ve been rude this evening though. I just, I don’t do this. Or rather, I haven’t done this.” He motioned his hand between the two of you.
“Hm. Good to know it’s not just me then.” You took another bite of food. “Um, maybe a silly question, but why sign up for matchmaking if you’re not keen to date?”
“Truthfully, some of my di’kut brothers set me up. Submitted my profile to the matchmaking service. Said I needed to find someone.” He scoffed, picking at his meal.
“Ahhh, I see. So, you’re here on a pity date with me.” His eyes widened as you gave an over-exaggerated pout.
“No! I- I’m not! You- you’re beautiful. Gods, I’m sorry. I’m just -”
“Nervous?” He nodded. You giggled, “Yeah, I can tell, commander.” His title on your lips was heaven. “I’m nervous too. Guess that’s why I needed so much liquid courage.” You gestured to your now empty glass. “So, Wolffe, tell me about these di’kut brothers of yours.” The Mando’a word sounded foreign coming from you, but he relished any chance to hear the sound of your voice.
He smirked. “Boost and Sinker. I’m going to have to find a way to get back at them.”
“Hmm… Interesting.” A mischievous look flashed across your face. “I think I want in on this.”
“Hey, Boost, did you get Wolffe’s comm too?” Sinker called out as he walked into the empty barracks.
“Hello, handsome.” You were posed, still in your dinner clothes, on what Wolffe had indicated was Sinker’s bunk.
“Uhhhh, who are you?” He looked around, finding no one to help him make sense of your presence. “Civvi- Uh, civilians aren’t permitted inside GAR barracks, ma’am.”
“Oh, I think I got turned around. I’m looking for an officer… Wolffe?” You gave Sinker your best ditzy, sympathetic, puppy-eyed pout.
“You- you’re the commander’s date?” Panic raised in his voice.
You proceeded, voice dripping in disappointment and desire, “I don’t know where he went… But it’s been so long since I’ve been satisfied. Are you up to the task, trooper?” Tilting your head, you eyed him up and down.
“Uh-um… I- I, Yes I am, I just, I don’t think we should… Weren’t, weren’t you supposed to be with Commander Wolffe this evening, ma’am?” Sinker sputtered as he tried to avoid looking at you, looking at him, seducing him from his bunk.
“Sinker, who are you talking to in here, vod? Everyone’s down in the mess. What-” Boost stopped in his tracks as he took in the scene before him. “Who’s this pretty lady?” Boost raised an eyebrow suggestively.
Wolffe’s patience had run out just then, as he decided to step out from his private quarters.
“Troopers! What is this civilian doing inside GAR facilities?”
All the blood drained from their faces.
“Both of you. OUT! NOW! THAT’S AN ORDER!” Wolffe barked.
“Yes, sir!” They chorused, scrambling to exit the room, door swooshing shut behind them.
“Oh, my gods, did you see the looks on their faces?” You practically fell off the bunk in laughter.
Wolffe approached, a sly smile evidence of his content with the little act you had both put on. “I did. Very good work. I bet you could make a name for yourself as an undercover operative.”
Hopping off the bed, you stood to meet his intense gaze. “Hm… Maybe. I don’t want to operate with anyone else, though. Especially under covers.”
He smirked, rolling his eyes, “Come here, you.”
Wolffe’s arms circled your waist, pulling you into a crushingly firm embrace. Head tilted up towards him, you couldn’t help but smile. “We make a pretty good team, huh?”
He chuckled, bringing a hand to stroke the back of your hair. “Sure do, mesh’la.”
He lowered his face to yours, capturing your lips with his, as he had wanted all night.

Join me and take action in the Battle for Libraries
As you may know, I am a passionate lover of the Internet Archive. Through 2020, I ran a section on my ephemera blog where I talked about hits from the Wayback Machine; I am a contributor myself, to the extent that my free time allows; even a lot of the music I play on streams is from there.
Yesterday, the worst happened: the future of 4 million digital books on the Internet Archive is now at stake, as well as libraries everywhere in the USA. I learned that the methods being targeted in this lawsuit (CDL, Controlled Digital Lending) are not just unique to the Internet Archive, but apply to the way even libraries like the fucking Boston Public Library, one of the largest libraries in the United States. This is a threat to public libraries and accessibility. The alternative we are expected to follow is book bans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How can I help?
Donate if you have the money, obviously. But I know that's hard.
Sign the petition and sign up for email updates at Battle for Libraries. Not just a change.org petition but an established group that is working on organizing rallies.
They have some freebie graphics you can put on your posts (above). I don't see the harm in it.
Subscribe to the Empowering Libraries newsletter.
Support your local library. Even just going there when you can counts, they need the numbers! Check out books, look at their equipment if they have a makerspace.
Now's a good time to make personal backups of things that you could not live without. There's no real hope of an Internet Archive Archive (more on why it's more difficult than you think), but decentralized backups are always a good thing.
Don't just take it for me. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!
How to argue with "But piracy..."
First off, don't argue with trolls. But if you have an acquaintance who really doesn't get it, here's some resources.
Bandcamp's stance on piracy: "It’s not like they’d slap their forehead and open their wallet. Instead, they’d just move on to some other site where those restrictions aren’t in place."
"But if they steal it – how can I make money?"
Small Publisher Embraces Controlled Digital Lending to Connect with New Readers: "I think in the end, it drives sales because you are finding readers you wouldn’t normally have. Those readers aren’t getting a copy that they keep forever — it’s a copy that’s going to lead them to want to own it."
In the hopefully-near future I will be publishing a list of online library catalogues; coincidentally, I was reading a decade-old book about digital libraries, so I've got a ton of links for you guys.

Housekeeping. Long af, but important if you give a shit about my tagging system or actively use it to filter or regularly search my blog.
When I first started this blog I didn't know wtf I was doing or how to use tumblr. However as someone who loves making things searchable and sortable I quickly fell in love with the tagging system, and started extensively using organizational tags. I quickly settled on a consistent system I have been using ever since.
I used to never talk on here either but eventually decided to do that more but when my follower count was lower (which I miss tbh) it was super obvious when ppl would unfollow me, which tended to happen after personal posting. So I created a -pers tag so ppl could shut me up but still get 24 hr reblogs. Because I did have a queue going for the better part of those 2 years.
My queue ended a couple times in the past 6 months and I haven't had the time or energy to put it back together again. I miss having it. I also have less time and energy to deal with my own tagging system causing me to do most of my reblogs in 2 parts. Drafting things when I see them. Tagging and posting them later sometimes weeks later as my drafts build up. I have been even worse about leaving compliments and comments in tags as well because of this. I am tired and busy but I miss it.
In order to combat my issues and take the burden off of myself that I put on myself, and allow me to hopefully do more of what I enjoy while still sharing lots of rbs with yall, I am doing the following:
I will no longer be consistently tagging individual bsd characters except for a few. Fyodor, Nikolai, Sigma, and Dazai (because I regularly search them on my own blog). And possibly characters who it is more of a rare treat to rb fanart of them, like Higuchi and Mori. I will no longer be tagging bsd posts that have other bsd tags in them as bsd separately (so the common "bsd fyodor, bsd fanart, bsd, would become bsd fyodor, bsd fanart.)
I will still tag new chapters on chapter release days and the day after, as well as continue to use the bsd spoilers tag for even longer.
For other series that are not bsd, I will only tag the series and no longer tag characters or use a fanart tag separately, with the exception of the dialovers Carla and Yui Komori tags.
I will no longer tag nature.
I will no longer tag quotes.
I will only use the "art" tag for non fandom related art, I will no longer use the illustration (or illlustration) tags.
I will use weirdcore or dreamcore tags but not both on the same post. It is important to me that ppl can still filter these out.
I will use -pers and -vent still, but with absolutely zero further promises that I will tag my own talking consistently. I will still put long or (things that I think would be) super upsetting under cuts like I have in the past. I will probably still delete things regularly.
I will no longer tag me reblogging my own posts as self rb.
I will keep my -whump on main tag, so ppl can filter that still. I will still tag cw eyestrain and cw flashing for accessibility. I will still tag blood and gore if it is intense and I post it here instead of my sideblog but I do not promise consistency.
I will still use my ask and tunes tags, and if I do special queues (like the friday fyo queue) I will tag those. I do plan on using my old queue tag as well or making a new one.
If I have gotten rid of anything that you actively filter please feel free to unfollow me even if we are mutuals. I also don't find it weird for people to visit my blog and interact with me without following me, so if you do feel you need to unfollow me but still want to search your blorbos on my blog, send me asks, or talk in my tags and replies, please do so and of course reblog and spam reblog from me to your heart's content. If you want to unfollow me and we have ever talked in dms before my dms are still open to you then as well. It doesn't bother me at all. This isn't so much of a new thing either in regards to my feelings about that, just a clarification I thought I should explicitly point out rn given the fact more of you might want to bail if you can't hide my bird posting for instance.
I might change or drop any of this if I feel like it. I enjoy being consistent, but I don't like feeling bound to it. And I realized I was which made me want to abandon my blog and start over without the imagined expectations. Instead I am trying this.

I've been following some of those plural poll blogs for a little while now. I think it's fun to answer questions, especially ones that make me have to think really hard or consult others. It's a good way to learn about the worlds I inhabit and the people I inhabit them with, but I've been noticing some (if not most) of the questions are almost.. not applicable to us or our experiences. Specifically now: questions that want you to answer as or for the collective.
"Collective favorite [X]", "[Y] that describes everyone", "Collective opinion on [Z]."
While thinking about these questions I realized that it probably feels pretty bad to be expected to be radically different from everyone you share a brain with. That kind of expectation can unintentionally de-legitimize peoples' experiences and make them feel like they aren't "separate enough" to count.
At the same time, we don't have…a collective anything. Even this body is off-limits to at least one person. Trying to make all of us agree on something has made us run into more butting of the heads than anything else in the past six years, and that feels very strange! Being asked to exist cohesively and uniformly causes some of the most upset I've ever seen.
My favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio. Verin likes specifically Quality Dairy's Death by Chocolate. Oliver wants nothing to do with any of it. To answer with a single "collective favorite" would mean disregarding most opinions in favor of one. It's a silly example, and it's true most of the questions tend to be silly and un-serious in nature. So why should we have to fight over whose favorite gets the spotlight?
There are plenty of other common plural-community things that don't apply to us, being a system of less than ten with only one (introverted) introject. We don't tend to subscribe to common frameworks (roles, origin labels, and the shiny new consciousness labels), and microlabels in general just don't seem to have that luster. Being unconventional isn't new to us for many, many reasons.
The polls aren't even really my main concern here. We don't follow many, so it's possible it's just a few of them. But it's not the only context we're expected to present as less individual than we actually are.
The name of the group, Solsten, is neutral at best for more than half of us, but existing without a link to others in the system online is heavily frowned upon. "System tags" are commonly required in Discord servers that have bots for accessibility. Intra-system communication in public is laughable & weird at best, and outright banned at worst. We are expected to be a very single group of people.
We've known about each other for years longer than we've known about the plural community, so I guess it makes sense that we don't fall in with the norms presented here. We're in the age range now where we're "too old" for the youngest members to be comfortable with, and "too young" for the oldest.
The easiest thing for us to do has been to find others through our interests, and we've been very lucky to find three(!!) other systems who we're now very close with. They don't seem to be as interested in alterhumanity as I am, but I think all I can really do is take what I'm given. They listen and allow us as much space as we need to be uniquely and separately ourselves.
This was sort of an aimless ramble from the get-go. I haven't been here long enough to make in-depth critiques of common trends. (It's my understanding that other platforms like Dreamwidth and some personal websites host wonderful content of that variety.) But maybe we should start making all of our coworkers decide if they all had to be one animal what it would be. Even if our coworkers are already strongly and separately wolves, birds, and human beings.

——-
You were bored beyond measure.
There was also an indeterminate itch under your skin that you needed to scratch.
It happened every time you were in New York.
Like an addict, proximity to your drug of choice had you quietly feening, even though you’d found some safer, more life affirming substitutes.
The paparazzi swarmed you and your girls, and you gave them face although you were behind your designer sunglasses.
You knew that your body, clad in a skintight exclusive dress, the faux fur dripping off your arms, and the 24 inch weave flowing down your shoulders was what they were paid for.
The photogs called your name, ignoring the beauty of the crew around you as you entered the club.
Despite that, your girls bubbled up at the sight of the exclusive club and the other famous faces that turned to stare at you. The owner came over to greet you and lead you up to the VIP. Once settled, the popping of bottles commenced.
You knew why the girls around you stayed close, but you played the bestie game so as not to be alone.
Because that would mean you’d have to think.
“Damnnn… Y/N! That one guy from TMZ sure was sweating where D was tonight. You’d think he was dating him.”
The way Starr cut her eyes at you confirmed that she was the one sweating your latest beau.
You pulled out the phone that had your face plastered all over Times Square with ads and threw it on the table.
“Well maybe I should have let him answer my phone, because D has been blowing me up all night.”
Starr picked up the phone and scrolled through your notifications as Eve looked over her shoulder.
“Dammmm Son!” Eve shouted. “You got this man quadruple texting and shit, and calling too? Yo! Teach me the ways of that golden pussy.”
You laughed, flipped her off and took another drink of champagne.
You didn’t tell them any of what your other taught you. Ways to get a man and keep him, things to say and what not to say, how to eat, keep fit, but still make it all look natural. And yes, pointers on what to do in bed. Your mother was a piece of work, but she was sitting in a life of ease now. Even if her husband was a grade A asshole.
Your mother worked her way from being a drug runner’s girl to being the famous wife of a celebrated television personality, whom everyone (who didn’t know him personally) loved. He was everyone's uncle, and a multimillionaire.
Once the bag was secured, your mother made him adopt you, even though you were already 19, stating that because your father was dead, it was only right. But you knew it was only to have his powerful last name.
You carried the name around with you like the Hope diamond, and it allowed you access to handsome and talented musicians and rappers and actors for the last 8 years.
You were your mother’s dream, and your stepfather's prize. But you would always be a Rumlow at heart.
You were a gangsta.
Kiki’ing with the girls only fostered your boredom so you got wasted, literally dancing on the tables as the wee hours approached.
Around 2 am, you stumbled to the bathroom by yourself, your girls all wasted or having been picked up by the club’s clientele.
Once safe in a stall, and while you were peeing, you pulled your real phone out of your purse.
You closed your eyes and prayed as it rang. His sleepy voice answered.
“‘Lo.”
He sounded unsurprised at your call.
“Come get me baby. I’m at Knack. In SoHo.”
There were a few seconds of silence.
“What would your man have to say about that?”
You sucked your teeth.
“Now I know you’re not worried about him. Did you mean my brother? Brock?”
“You mean your half brother? Rumlow? Fuck him.”
You wiped and flushed the toilet.
“Why do you always call me when you’re in the bathroom?”
You heard rustling as he asked the question and your heart leapt that he might be getting dressed.
“Because what you and I have is so intimate, baby.”
You used your sexiest, sluttiest voice in him as you checked your makeup in the mirror. Of course it didn’t work. He laughed.
“Or maybe it’s because you’re full of shit. Meet me out behind the kitchen in 20 minutes.”
——
20 minutes later, a black R8 pulled up outside the kitchen entrance. All of the kitchen crew bid you goodnight as you climbed into the passenger seat. You’d spent the time waiting learning how to make risotto.
The car pulled out and headed toward Brooklyn. You greeted your man. Well, your man in your head.
“Damn, Baby. You smell so good.”
Sam’s gap-toothed grin did you in, as well as the side eye he gave you. He looked over at you and shook his head.
“You’re gonna be the death of me.”
You watched the muscles in his arm as he shifted gears.
“Literally.”
“Don’t be like that Sammy. Just take me to your place and fuck me real good. Hard. All night long. Make me forget my name.”
Your hand was on his muscular thigh and moving north. You told yourself that you craved his control, his hand on the column of your throat while he filled you to the brim.
Sam cleared his throat, clearly tempted. Then he moved your hand back to your lap, and again shook his head. He knew what you said you wanted, but he also knew what you needed.
“No. You’re wasted. What you can do is sleep in my bed tonight.”
He glanced over as you pouted and pretended to be mad.
But a night in Sam Wilson’s arms was the fix you’d been needing.

👑 APPLICATION ADVICE 🌿
Tumblr media
Hello! We are so glad you want to join our zine! I’m Mod Anna, in charge of writing and organization. We decided to share advice on what we look for in applications, as well as how the application is formatted. If you’ve applied to a lot of zines or none at all, we hope you’ll read through this information to guide you through our application process. First things first: a link to our info sheet is here. BEFORE reading this post, look at our FAQ and contributor application requirements. A lot of your questions will be answered here already. It helps mods if you examine our provided information before asking a new question.
Before opening the application, I suggest you know which pieces you are using to apply. An organized portfolio and strong submission pieces do a lot for ensuring we can give your application the dedication we want to in our reviewal process. If your links don’t work, we won’t be able to give you a fair review. AO3, Google Drive (with the correct sharing permissions), and any other free online portfolio will work. If you’re worried about your links working, you can check their access abilities using an incognito or private tab. Each applicant will be sent a copy of their responses so you can ensure you submitted the correct ones. For other portfolio suggestions, I will include more information later in this post.
For the application itself: our first question on the application confirms you are 18+ before applying. If you are not of age, we will not be able to accept you. If we find out you have lied, you will be disqualified from our project and likely future ones the mod team runs. I apologize if you want to join but are under 18—but this rule protects us and you to comply with labor laws as much as we can. The next few questions will ask you for general information. Your credit name, pronouns, social media links (if you have any) and a discord username. We will be communicating zine information through a Discord server, so please ensure you have an account.
Social media follower count will not be conducive to our choice for acceptance. For me, if I want to see more work from the applicant, I may check their social media if their portfolio is too small. The issue with a Certain Social Media Site, formerly known as Tw*tter, is that it does not organize your work well (i.e. RTs are hard to sort through from your personal work). I would suggest a blogging site, like tumblr, with a tag we can filter through. AO3 is similar with sorting capabilities, so you may wish to share yours even if you choose a different portfolio format.
Choose the zine position you will apply for. If you have more than one you wish to apply for, submit more than one application. If you are accepted, however, it will only be for one position. The pinch hitter question is pretty important. If we have a contributor fall through, you may be messaged to work on a shorter timeline. We have a few options of how you’d like to be considered as a pinch hitter, such as if your decision changes whether you’re accepted or not. I personally have been a pinch hitter more than once; it’s fun, it’s rushed, but it’s a job that a lot of people don’t always appreciate. Nonetheless, this answer will not affect your acceptance status.
Next is your submissions. For your submission links, artists are recommended to use Google Drive links and writers are recommended to use AO3 or Google Drive. You don’t have to host them on these sites, however, please make sure your links are easy to access and use. The harder it is for us to find your work, the less time we will be able to review it. You will also be asked which part of our zine you’re interested in creating for (Karasuno, Pro Leagues, JNT/Olympics) and whether you wish to create for our potential NSFW add-on. Page artists will be asked if they want to be our cover artist.
Each person will be asked about portfolio and submission links. The next section will help with choosing your pieces. Please include any content warnings in the space provided and keep this section SFW.
𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
GENERAL OVERVIEW: If you have pieces that feature Kageyama or Hinata, especially concerning their relationship, I recommend using those for your submission pieces. This way we will be able to understand how you portray them, and how we see that fitting in with our project. A zine team wants a range of contributors. The more flexible your work is while maintaining a consistent style, the better we’ll be able to see you creating a page we want to print. If you choose to submit pieces from other fandoms, ensure there’s a reason why you want to include them. Whether they resemble a way you’ll draw them or write their characterizations, you want to target your pieces toward showing off your capabilities, not limiting them. It is not recommended to include drafts or sketches of your work in your portfolio. We want to see what you can develop in full for our zine.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PAGE ARTISTS: Choose pieces that are as current to your developed artistic style. The way you color, render, line, light, and form will all be taken into consideration. You want at least 1 piece, if not all 3, to have full backgrounds. Your compositions and detail will be important, i.e. if you have characters in similar poses or simple backgrounds, we won’t be able to see the full range of your skill. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MERCH ARTISTS: Along with the above section, please ensure you have as many polished merch designs in your portfolio, if you have them. The more you have, the better we can see what merch item you would best create. If you apply to both positions, I don’t recommend an overlap between your main submissions—you can include them in your portfolio, but try to tailor your application to the merch aspect versus as a page artist.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WRITERS: As a writer myself, I may be biased in saying that a writer application is the hardest to craft. For one, if you don’t have KageHina pieces, the mod team has a weaker understanding of how you would write these characters in their canon scenario.
If you have any polished KageHina pieces, it is imperative you include at least one. Otherwise, if you have written any characters that emulate their personalities or how you would write them, or even other characters in the Haikyuu!! Universe, we will accept these as well. The better the mods know the characters, the more they’re likely to judge your piece fairly. As a side note, I will include other fandoms the mods are familiar with so you can determine if you have any pieces of fandoms outside of Haikyuu!! that would fit what you wish to portray in our zine.
For writing, determine the kind of relationship you want to portray in a potential zine piece. Getting together, hurt/comfort, established relationships, fluff, humor—all of the tropes you want to include and how you write them, pick the pieces that best represent them. Characterization, setting, fluid writing are all important and ultimately, the way the piece makes a reader feel. As applicants, we do not get to explain what our intent is with a piece; all we have is the work, and how a mod enjoys your pieces. Here, range is important. If your pitches are angsty, you’ll want an angst submission. If you want to write humor, the same thing. We will do our best to determine different applicants and their goals to create a cohesive, flowing piece that portrays Hinata and Kageyama in their canon element.
Pay attention to word count as well. We are aiming for 1.5k-3k word pieces for the zine. This means you’ll want at least one finished piece in this length and excerpts of this length. We will only read a max of 5k per piece so keep this in mind during your selections.
Final Points to Make your Application Stronger: we are forming a zine about KageHina in canon. Do you have pieces of them younger in Karasuno or older in JNT? You may want to include these. Especially when it comes down to your pitches in the next section.
As a final reminder, keep all pieces SFW. The NSFW portion follows a similar format, of course, but this is an optional application. You will want to include Mature or Explicit work for the NSFW part of our application.
𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐎
This is where you put your pieces that are the strongest outside of your main submission. I would recommend Google Drive Folder. For all applicants, when we review more of your pieces, we will be able to give your application a more thorough look. Just as a reminder, organization does matter. If you have extra pieces you wish to show off, this is when you would include them. I recommend a Google Drive Folder because, although more work to put together, we will be able to sort through your other pieces quicker. You could include a list of AO3 links with details about each fic, you could include full excerpts, you could include more of your range in artwork.
𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒
I love reading creative pitches. I love seeing the passion a contributor has for the zine or for the characters themselves! Feel free to think about what you wish to create for this project. Try to keep them at a reasonable length, but still detailed enough that we can see your vision. This will not determine your acceptance but it does help us figure out which part of the zine we’d like to see you write or draw for. Make sure to submit and ask any questions or comments you have. We will answer them on our twitter if we feel them relevant. You will receive a copy of your responses, too.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍
Thank you so much for reading this, frankly, verbose post. I appreciate your attention to your application and I hope this soothes some of your worries. We are so excited to see all the lovely applications! No matter what happens, we are so happy for your passion for this project.
Much affection, Mod Anna
