paper machet paul mask

#when i say paper i mean e v e r y t h i n g is paper #artings #i put tinfoil around my jason mask to make like. the base. then put my paper sludge on top to give it shape #a lot of layering w regular paper & some leaving it in the sun & shaping/carving etc somethin like? three days? give or take?#then when it was dry enough i glued on some ripped up cardboard to make it sturdier. that was a lot of fun #and when it came time to paint i forgot where my black paint was so i glued on a bunch of black napkins 💀 and filled in the gaps w sharpie #the paintjob is meant to be gesso & uhhhh some shimmery silver paint i have #and obvs more sharpie for the details #and his teefs are made of these sticks my mom was gonna use for a money bouquet for my aunt and never finished #painted em white then painted em w the silver. lot of hot glue on this guy. and some industrial like Real Glue as well #theres a reason im not showing the back btw 🙏#and i realized i cut the edges too short too late in the process which is why the bolts are on top of the face #OH I MADE A STRAP FOR IT!#its meant to be just an art piece (kinda like my joey one which was just a white mask i drew on) BUT it is also SOMEWHAT wearable #on my head at least lol #thinking about shaving it to be more like the refs size? possibly fixing it so the bolts r at the sides??? another day lol #anyway im posting this bc im thinking of making another mask for halloween 🤞

#vu's posts #tgaa #disco elysium #i've been thinking about this for a while lol #my fixation before de was tgaa so. i'm bound to make comparisons #it helps that they're both VNs/point and clicks where you solve murders and such. it's hard not to compare em really #no but yeah i adore tgaa but WOW is the handling of the racism just. terrible #it's literally a shallow 'oh we're all people at the end of the day' thing. it's literally so insulting tbh #it's more frustrating since the writing is otherwise incredible imo!#also frustrating since it plagues my favorite character grrrrr #(and yes i mean van zieks <3)#he's so well written and it's just this one aspect of his character that's just so terribly done!#they could've just made him racist because of his time period or w/e. but as is his racism is tied to his trauma??#plus he NEVER faces consequences for his racism. hell KAZUMA never even calls him out on it and he HATES bvz like?#also doesn't help that ryuu (the victim of most of the racism) kinda just... lets it slide for the most part #esp once he finds out why van zieks is racist he's just like 'oh that's understandable actually. ur racism is justified here' like no!#meanwhile disco handles the topic with the nuance that it needs to be given yknow?#also it very clearly frames the constant racism that kim puts up with as something that Affects Him #and plus he doesn't just take it! he's a super composed guy but you can clearly tell how uncomfortable he is-#when ppl around him are throwing around racist bs #and plus despite being a very composed person he DOES snap at someone at least once in canon over it #(e.g. the ''don't you welcome to revachol' me' bit... which btw i will never be normal about <3)#(honorable mention to his 'i feel less bad for breaking in here now' bit when you go into the cryptofascist guy's apartment-#after he sees the racist mugs. he was so right for that fr)#ALSO back to my earlier point about it clearly affecting him. i feel like he does have some like. idk internalized racism?#like his whole thing with being proud to be a native to revachol and being proud that he never met his seolite grandparents #like MAYBE you could read that as him just really caring about his home city. but it also reads like internalized racism to me #ANYWAYS there's more i could say here but you get the point #tgaa racism themes are badly written while de racism themes are well written #va4 rambles in the tags

#i think that bc E&B agreed that their relationship is Strictly Professional Now #Baxter finds out about him leaving the same time everyone else does. not for Ethan's lack of trying but it was just kinda. Hard.#as far as he was aware Baxter was perfectly fine w things being professional only (& tbh they were)#so he just found it really hard to tell em the few times they were alone together the month between the trial & him leaving #bc it was always in professional settings #him leaving was mostly so He Himself could get back in the mindset bc it hurt to see how easy Baxter seemed to be taking it #Baxter was taking it pretty okay bc i mean. out of their whole relationship only like Two Nights were unprofessional #& then the day Ethan announced he was leaving Baxter realized just how Not Okay they were #i mean to some degree they were okay? but it still hurt for him to just suddenly..... leave #and then Rafael and Sora just had Absolutely Terrible timing of wanting to get back together so Baxter's day went from terrible to horrible

BUT YES. YEAH. Like The Day Of he's just paralyzed with worry and caught between wanting to do something and not wanting to go against Aoki... maybe at most he chances calling Arakawa telling him to be careful, because that's not too conspicuous given his role in the dissolution, but Arakawa just gives him the old I'll Be Fine Worry About Yourself... and, you know, why shouldn't he; they've always had their enemies and he's Arakawa the Assassin, he can handle himself... he can let himself have that fleeting hope, but deep down... and THEN he finds out and has to act like he didn't mean anything to him and has to go back to his duties like nothing happened... OUGH

Can I just say. Literally such an insane fucking series of scenes in Coin Locker Baby. Because you get Jo's despondence when he's saying he might have killed Arakawa--he's being a bitch to provoke Ichiban into a fight, but it's also an admission his inaction played a part, isn't it... and then you get him expressing that he's familiar with Ichiban's need to protect Arakawa... and then you get the sheer desperation and insistence in his voice when he says he could never kill him... and then you get--I'm not totally sure how clear it is in English--but you get him actively saying his feelings go deeper than Ichiban's without really explaining how... and then you get the tinge of fondness when he's thinking back on the old days when Arakawa lived up to his name... Like. Why Did They Do That. Any Of That.

ALSO. GOD. I've gotten so much shit the past couple days because I said I want to lock Jo, Kume, and Tendo in a room for five minutes For My Entertainment. Reading those tags felt like coming home honestly 😭 Like, even Ichi was ready to kill someone over Arakawa, and Jo was out here threatening to disembowel people [in the dub]. And I Think They Should Be Allowed To. As A Treat. So FOR REAL the biggest "I'm so glad we get to talk" 😭😭😭

On that note genuinely so funny that I took an extra ten minutes re-rendering the video because I forgot to put the "flashback" part in Arakawa's subtitles at first but then nobody read it 😭

But it's also something I've been mulling over because I'm delusional. Getting actors as high-profile as Nakai and Takei back for just A Flashback is kinda crazy to me because Arakawa and Jo's screen-time took up a full four percent of the entire game [over ten percent of the cutscenes] originally. But then if it's multiple flashbacks equivalent to that... what exactly is going on here that the past is so intertwined...

And Because My Brain Is Evil there is the fact that technically speaking, Yokoyama only said that line was from a flashback, and specified Arakawa wouldn't be appearing in the main story. Now of course a normal person would interpret that as him reassuring the audience he won't appear in any present-day scenes, but part of me was like. Oh So A Side Story Is On The Table [<- it's not it's fucking not it will not be in a million years]
