IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME: Annie Bridgeport CHARACTER AGE & DATE OF BIRTH: 22, April 12th OCCUPATION: Singer/Song Writer, Broadway Actress FACE CLAIM: Hailee Steinfeld HOMETOWN & CITY WHERE LIVES NOW: Where was your character born? Los Angeles And where is your character living now? New York SEXUAL ORIENTATION & GENDER: Bi-Sexual, Female RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single POSITIVE TRAITS: Hard Working, Adventurous & Talented. NEGATIVE TRAITS: Annoying, Selfish & Panicky. CHARACTER QUOTE/LYRIC: “Our loves enough, transcending us through space and time”
HEADCANONS
Annie grew up in Los Angeles with two very well known famous musicians, she was always around music, whether it was her dad and the piano and guitar or her mum singing, there was music everywhere, so there was no doubt she was going to fall into that as well. She fell in love with music as soon as she was old enough to learn how to play instruments and could sing.
The whole acting and wanting to be on Broadway came around when her mom and dad took her to New York for a week and took her to see her first Broadway show of Wicked when she was younger and she couldn’t help to fall in love with the show and love the stage when she realized she wanted to turn it into a career. So her mom got her actual acting classes and gave her singing classes and also enrolled her into dance class.
By the time she went to college, she chose to leave to LA lifestyle and move to New York for Theatre college and get better and something she loved was being an NYADA student, she was able to gain knowledge and work harder. In her Junior year of College, she got her first big audition for an off-broadway show which she had got and spent seven months playing a character that she loved whilst also studying. Once she graduated she was then going through auditions, and now she is waiting for her next big thing whilst she decided to record her own album.
Annie had always been a hard working person, it was proven all through her time at college that she would do anything she could to succeed and get to where she wanted to be. She embraced the competition that there was but she also knew she had to be focused on everything that was going on. Most people knew her to be a workaholic when it came to her career but she knew when it came to the industry she was in she had to work continuously hard to make it. All her hard work has payed off as she is currently playing the role of Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
After all this she ended up she filmed an Apple TV series called Dickenson playing Emily Dickenson a famous poet. Then she was lucky to release her first Album and getting the chance to tour for 3 months with Meghan Trainer and she loved every minute of it. She then went on to film Dickenson season 2 to then get the role of Veronica Sawyer in the Heathers on Broadway extending her role till April. She then got a role in a film called Edge of Seventeen.
Annie has been busy but for some reason she was able to find the time to fall in love with her best friend Calvin Littleman and things have been great even though they were definitely long distanced a lot things worked out really well for them. They recently moved in together and has been super in love with him and knows that every day their love just kept getting stronger.
Recently, her film Edge of Seventeen came out and season 3 of Dickenson came out. And with all that, she joined the MCU in the series Hawkeye. And released two songs, Drivers Licence and De Ja Vu and she has plans to release an album very soon.
CONNECTIONS
JUDITH & COLIN BRIDGEPORT (Parents): The two wonderful musicians in her life who brought her up and made her believe that she could do anything she wanted to. Her parents were like her best friends and she was open-minded due to the fact that of them and she loved it and loved their support with what she wanted to do. TIM BRIDGEPORT (Older Brother): He is the person who Annie goes to any time she needs someone to talk to, he is someone else who she is really close with and although he lives in LA and is a film producer now, they share advice all the time. CALVIN LITTLEMAN (BOYFRIEND): Annie and Calvin met when Calvin visited New York and they bumped into each other and they got to talking about his movie of Kingsman and then bonded over having same kind of jobs and ever since became best friends. Later on in the line they got closer and Annie started to have feelings for him, especially after the time they slept together on a night out when she visited LA for work. Calvin and Annie eventually admitted feelings to each other and have now been dating for a year and she is very much in love with him.

So, what's this all about?
In a dystopian future where everything is regulated by the government and there is no getting ahead in the world, it’s hard to find a reason to rise with each new day. The world is colorless, gray and unexciting – everything ran by a plan made well before you were born. When you’re told when to sleep, how to dress and what to do with your life, everything eventually loses its taste and you lose your will in the process.
The Rabbit Hole is for those who crave a little more.
In the dead of night, deep under the city, you may just find the entrance to the Rabbit Hole if you’re lucky. Lavish and decadent, this exclusive club is everything the real world ever sought to keep from you in glorious technicolor. Here you can be who you want and do exactly as you please. Watch the girls and boys dance or buy from the bar, grab at what life up above has denied you. After all, it doesn’t cost much – just a token, really.
Sign away your name on the dotted line.
All names are taken and collected by one of the enigmatic and elusive Queens. From the moment you leave one of their opulent throne rooms to venture into the other areas of their realm, your name is no longer your own. In its place, you are given a new name and a new identity in the form of a mask. Which, in reality, is better for you, isn’t it? If no one knows your name, and no one knows your face then you can go back to your mundane life when morning comes. What harm could come of signing an insignificant piece of paper?
Tell me, would you sell your soul to gain a life worth living?
So come inside, have a drink and lose yourself in the world that time forgot. Won’t you stay a while and eat our food? Now’s your chance to feel something, why not dive right in?

{Please note that other Wonderland characters are also available, or even made up names. If you need help coming up with one, you can always message me. Examples of possible names: Red Rook, White Bishop, Ace of Hearts, etc.}
How To Apply
Character Name: Wonderland Name: FC: Aboveground Occupation: Age in Verse: Number of Years in Wonderland: Court Affiliation: (Red,White, One of the Suits) Bio: 3 + Paragraphs (Include any developed powers or the like.)
What Is It, Really?
This is a group verse set in a Dystopian Film Noir setting in the year 2584. Basically, the world is in shambles with something of a 1940’s twist. Warfare and complete obliteration forced the world to restart, and instead of flying cars and hoverboards, we have a handful of cities and a nation left barren and full of dust. Those cities have electricity, running water, high skyscrapers and even technology, but due to government regulations life carries on as it did when people could be controlled and Big Brother didn’t have to reach so far to keep his eye on the prize.
Bring in the forties and fifties, won’t you? The trolleys, the fashion, the cars and those quaint little one stop diners – this has them all. A person’s life is entirely and wholly organized from birth, marriage and to death by The Powers, those that were given the task of leading the world once it all fell apart.
While there might not be life outside of the cities, below in the Underground lies a realm that thrives just as it has since the dawn of time. It’s been known by many names, but now it’s just called Wonderland and one has to fall through the Rabbit Hole to find it. This is a land of bright color, music and everything the drab neutral world above has ever been denied. While most people who visit only ever get to see the Rabbit Hole itself or one of the Queen’s courts in the flesh – there’s an entire world just waiting to be explored.
The Underground is actually a fae realm, and all the members of royalty and some of the court are fae. Mortals can and will develop powers befitting their personality the more time they spend in Wonderland. Some have even been known to go mad.
But, What About Wonderland?
Yes, what about Wonderland? Despite being a utopia away from the Aboveground, Wonderland is a land riddled with political intrigue and strife. To better understand the world, one has to go back to the beginning.
Before Wonderland, the entire realm of the Underground was ruled by one man - a God of his own making - the JABBERWOCK. For many years he was a selfless man who all but broke his back in his attempts to keep his lands prosperous and plenty. When war threatened his lands for the first time, he allowed himself to be taken over by the spirit of something darker - something sinister enough to take on the oncoming peril. When the war was won and the day over, this spirit continued to cling. Eventually, the Jabberwock’s kingdom became a dark one riddled with the blood of its own people. Sacrifices were ordered and the land began to die.
THE RED QUEEN, THE QUEEN OF HEARTS, and THE WHITE QUEEN conspired to bring this reign of terror to an end. The youngest of them, The White Queen, was told by her two elders to infiltrate the court and ensnare the Jabberwock with a spell that would weaken him and lead to his downfall. The web they wove became further entangled when the Jabberwock, realizing their plan, married the White Queen in an ancient binding ceremony and played on her heartstrings to change her allegiance.
The day of the battle was an uncertain one. The Red Queen and The Queen of Hearts standing on one side of the field while the Jabberwock commanded the other. The tides were in his favor. It wasn’t until The White Queen joined her sisters that the dark fray was pushed back and his armies defeated. Together the Queens combined their power to destroy the Jabberwock.
Believing that they had eviscerated his body during the attack, the history of the Jabberwock was struck from the records and the Queens forbade the use of his true name. They and the remaining subjects all drank a potion to forget. From the ashes, WONDERLAND was born and each of the Queens claimed a piece of the realm for their own. Forsaking their true names in favor of their current titles and masks, their solution to keeping the land and themselves alive was the system of taking names that you now know.
Alright, so what else?
There are a few things to take note of both Aboveground and in the Underground.
Aboveground, everyone’s life and career have been given to them by THE POWERS. There is no choice or free will. You either do as you’re told, do as you’ve been taught or you face the punishment. There is a special task force called the NOBLE GUARDS who keep everything regulated and patrol the streets. The city has a curfew and when ten o’clock rolls around, everyone had better be tucked in their beds.
If you’re one of the resourceful few that make it into WONDERLAND, you need to remember that taking off your mask or revealing your name are not permitted. Anonymity is one of the safeguards beyond the RABBIT HOLE and failure to comply will result in banishment or worse. There are some creatures that frequent the Rabbit Hole that actually live within Wonderland – creatures that are far older and more powerful than their nighttime visitors. The dancers, the Queens and various members of their court – All of them reside within Wonderland’s borders. Some of them have a fake life above, one to amuse them from time to time.
A few residents did start out as human, as funny as that may sound. Prolonged visits to Wonderland can result in certain changes. Latent powers can develop, features may change or grow more prominent and a sudden clarity of the senses can make the world a little maddening. Partaking in their wine, drinking their food and dancing within their halls are all something of a decadent drug that can become addicting. The more time you spend away from Wonderland, the greater your longing to return will become. Being banished has sometimes resulted in madness and death. The brief nightly visits of most will not result in changes, but the addiction is still there.
What Are The Rules?
While it is not necessary to follow all members of the group rp, please try to keep interaction and plotting going across the board.
You are allowed to have supernatural powers if you like. All fae born have glamour and thrall. How else could they have created their fake lives Aboveground?
Don’t God-mod. I mean, really.
Be kind and keep your drama ic instead of ooc.
TAG ALL OF YOUR THINGS AS GV : DYSTOPIAN WONDERLAND
If you have questions please ask me, don’t just fumble around in the dark.

The Final Blog Post of 2020
Greetings, friends. It has been a while.
I think, as it has been for so many of us, 2020 is going down as a year where I accomplished pretty much nothing.I had big things planned for 2020, as I am sure a lot of you did, and they just… did not happen. Most of the downhill slide started in March, when I accepted a third-shift job. My body did not respond well to working third shift, and it sapped me of just about any will do to anything. I spent my days asleep, and my nights hovering through a weird twilight state where I was awake and doing things, but I was not happy about it. On my days off, I could barely function, and I started getting little fits of narcolepsy. After a doctor’s appointment, I mentioned these issues, and the doctor told me that someone who has the sort of thyroid and metabolic conditions that I have should not work third shift because it throws my whole system into whack.
So, I’m looking for a new job, a better job (hopefully), and something that I actually look forward to doing. If nothing else, I’ve learned that money isn’t as important as actually enjoying your work. But, with this job, and the pandemic, of course, all my routines were knocked out and I have been struggling to figure out a new routine. I used to be able to write at home back when I lived in rented apartments. Since I bought a home, I’ve found it difficult. There is always something around the house that needs doing. I found a refuge at my local Culver’s restaurant. I’d go in, get a diet Mt. Dew to drink, and kick over 3-5 hours in my favorite booth grinding out pages. Now, with that not exactly being a favorable option, my writing output has decreased to almost nothing. A sentence here. Maybe a page or two, if I was lucky. The inability to generate a solid routine has made the story harder to solidify in my mind. So, it’s been a rough year is what I’m saying.
I’m still kicking, though.
As is traditional, I like to list a few things that I found that brought me some joy this year and share them with you, as maybe you might like them, too.
Movies:
--I have not watched a ton of movies this year. The last movie I saw in a theater was “1917,” which I enjoyed greatly. It was an excellent WWI film, and the fact that they made it look like it was done in a single take was a masterstroke. It was beautifully filmed, and almost every frame could be a painting. Well worth the time.
I also just watched “Soul” on Disney+. There was a lot reminiscent of “Inside Out” in “Soul,” but “Soul” was a much quieter, more existential film. I liked it a lot, but it wasn’t one of Pixar’s best outings.
I watched George Clooney’s “The Midnight Sky” the other day. It was a long, dreadfully slow, and ultimately pointless film. I did not care for it. Most of the other films I’ve watched this year were fairly forgettable.
They were titles on streaming services that have been out a few years, but never generated a lot of noise.
Television:
I watched a ton of television this year. What the hell else was I going to do, right? I’m sure most of you are in the same boat. Anyhow, I have long believed that TV has become superior to films in the last few years. Better characters, better stories, and the time to tell those stories. I prefer episodic television to just about anything film has given us in the past few years, so here’s what I was watching this year.
--“19-2” (purchase four season on Amazon Prime): If you’ve watched “Letterkenny” on Hulu, then you must be familiar with Jared Keeso, who plays the central character Wayne. Keeso won some awards for a Canadian cop drama called “19-2” before he made “Letterkenny,” and I can understand why. This is a fairly dark, but realistic cop drama about the 19th Precinct in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and deals with the new guy (Keeso) transferring into the precinct from a small town and dealing with his new partner (Adrian Holmes) and the rest of the flawed members of the station in addition to dealing with policing duties around the city. One thing I liked about the series is that it never got away from the day-to-day grind of policing in a big city. The characters’ story arcs had to be worked in around the calls and patrols. The first episode of the second season of “19-2” deals with the precinct responding to a school shooting. It is, by far, one of the finest hours of television I’ve ever seen. Chaotic and hurried, brutal and bloody. It’s everything that keeps your eyes glued to the set. There were only 38 episodes of “19-2,” but I could have watched another four seasons of it. It supplanted “The Shield” as my favorite cop drama. Well worth the time.
--“The Queen’s Gambit” (Netflix): I’m not going to add anything original to this that hasn’t already been written by other people. This highly lauded limited series was well-written and acted, and it actually made competitive chess interesting. Anna Taylor-Joy was excellent in the lead role, and the costumes and sets were fantastic.
--“The Uncanny Counter” (Netflix): My mother watches an insane amount of South Korean TV shows. I don’t know why. She is the butt of many jokes because of this. However, “The Uncanny Counter” is a pretty cool series that feels like an indie comic book. The premise is a group of Grim Reapers run a noodle shop and fight demons. However, the show is much more complex than that. The characters’ stories are all intertwined in odd ways, and it’s very watchable.
--“Hospital Playlist” (Netflix): Another show my mother suggested was the sappy, and almost twee hospital show “Hospital Playlist.” This show is a fairly soft, airy, and cute little hospital drama about five doctors who have been friends since medical school. They’re all heads of their respective departments now, and they work at the Yulje Medical Center. While the show centers around the five main characters, there’s a whole slate of other doctors and interns who add to the story. Inevitably, the show is about life, love, and death—like any other hospital drama. However, the core group of friends also get together once a week and play music to relax, so there is a cutesy pop song at the end of the episodes that plays into a montage of that week’s story wrapping up. The characters in the show are very likeable, and that’s about the best thing this show has going for it. Each episode is like 90 minutes, and there are 12 episodes in the first season, but I watched them all, and I hate to admit it, but I’m interested in seeing what season 2 will bring.
--“Upload” (Amazon Prime): Greg Daniels of “The Office” fame created and produced this series about the Singularity, a hypothetical point in the future when we will be able to merge our consciousness with a computer, and thus physical death will mean we have a chance to live a digital afterlife where we can still interact with our loved ones on the earthly plane through VR. The show is funny and extremely intelligent. It’s satire and commentary wrapped up in a solid existential premise.
--“Star Trek: Discovery” season 3 (CBS All Access): I’m not going to write a ton about ST:Disco, but I will say that season 3 is the first season that felt like “Star Trek” to me. It’s one of the few shows that I have actually looked forward to week-to-week.
--“The Mandalorian” season 2 (Disney+): Like ST:Disco, this is one of the few shows I actually looked forward to. The first couple of episodes felt like the series was in a bit of a rut, but the last three episodes made it all worthwhile. Total fanboy moments abounded.
--“Ted Lasso” (Apple+TV): Strangely enough, a sitcom based on a single-premise joke from a series of Superbowl ads from a couple years ago is, hands-down, my favorite new show of 2020. Jason Sudeikis of SNL fame plays Ted Lasso, the former head coach of the Wichita Shockers college football team who is hired to be the head coach of FC Richmond, a Premier League Football team in England. Initially Ted is hired by the new owner of Richmond, who happened to have won the team from her ex-husband in a messy divorce. Her initial goal is to have Ted unknowingly destroy the team, but Ted’s boundless optimism and true concern and care for his players flips the script. This is the show that 2020 needed. It is funny and joyous, and it’s another feather in Bill Lawrence’s (Scrubs, Spin City, etc…) cap. I watched this show out of a sense of loyalty to Bill Lawrence, but I ended up LOVING it. The fact that Apple renewed “Ted Lasso” for two more seasons immediately is very telling about how good this show was. Highly, highly recommend.
Music:
I barely listened to anything new this year. Not many bands I liked came out with a new record, and I was usually listening to podcasts or watching TV instead. However, there were two albums that came out year that I would note.
--Kyle Kinane, “Trampoline in a Ditch”: Kinane’s newest stand-up album, recorded in Madison, Wis., is a fun jaunt through Kinane’s weird sense of humor and excellent writing style. This record had me and my daughter laughing out loud on the day it came out, and I’ve listened to it several times since. Kinane’s writing is so good, I pick up subtle jokes on additional listenings.
--Brett Newski, “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down”: Milwaukee Dork Rocker Newski put out another solid album this year. Check out the video for “Wha’d Ya Got to Lose?”
Podcasts:
Spent a ton of time listening to podcasts at my third shift job. I’m not going to write a ton about them individually, but here’s the list of the podcasts that got the most listens from me:
--Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing, Colossal Podcast --Fake Doctors, Real Friends --Timesuck --Scared to Death --Office Ladies --Unexplained --Lore --Cabinet of Curiosities --Haunted Locations
Books:
I probably read the fewest books I’ve read in ages this year. I’m usually good for 20-40 books a year, and this year—I just did not get there. I maybe read 12 books this year, and that bothers me. I just could not focus on reading. However, much of what I did read, I enjoyed. The best of those are as follows: --Craig Johnson, “Next to Last Stand” --CJ Box, “Winterkill” --Joe Ide, “IQ” --Sebastien de Castell, “Crownbreaker” --Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, “Crooked River” Anyhow, I hope some of those media suggestions will bring you some joy. We sure could all use some in 2021, no doubt. In the meantime, do continue to stay safe and healthy. Take precautions. Don’t throw caution to the wind. My plans for 2021: --Lose weight (as usual) --Finish the second Abe & Duff novel --Maybe finish another of the several novels on my desktop --Get a job I don’t hate --Make it to 2022 Here’s to hoping I have some good news about Abe & Duff in 2021. Thanks for reading, and Happy New Year. --Sean

The brief nightly visits of most will not result in changes, but the addiction is still there.

Biography:
TW Rape TW Death TW Murder TW Violence
Once upon a time, Astrid Hayley Todd used to lie in bed hoping. She’d hope for the perfect family; hope that the faceless woman and girl in her head would comeback one day. She’d hope that if she pictured her mom and sister for long enough, then maybe, just maybe, she’d be able to work out their faces. She’d awake from dreams of her dad packing up the car and plopping her into the backseat as she watched her mom and her older sister fade farther and farther off into the distance, tears filling her wide blue eyes, as she wished that someday things would be different. But, while her sister, Jayden, was shielded away from the gang life growing up by their mother, Astrid wasn’t as lucky.
Astrid and her dad, Frank, found a home with her dad’s gang, the Reapers. And things were okay for a little bit. Her dad might have slipped back into old habits as he moved farther and farther up the ranks. Breaking the law a little bit more every day until he was the one in charge. But, they had money. They had food. She might have been a little girl living out of a trailer being looked after by a group of grown men covered in tattoos, but her dad did his best to shield her as much as he could. The members would refer to the bags of cocaine lying around as sugar, lead her outside or to a different room when a fight broke out, and someone would always stick around with her when the rest of the crew headed out on the bikes for the night. They’d plop her down in front of the TV and teach her about the different sports teams or let her pick out a horse for them to bet on. It might have been an unconventional life to grow up in, but for her and her dad, it was home and pretty much the only life she’d ever known.
But, the happy go lucky tale of Snow White and the more than 7 gang members, didn’t last for long. Her father was locked away on gang related charges. He had entrusted her to some of his closest confidants whom swore they’d look after her like one of their own until he got out. He tilted her tear strained face up to meet his gaze, ruffled the top of her head lightly, and said, “Don’t worry, kiddo. I’ll be out before you know it. I promise.” She was going to be protected. Safe until he could get out. Until he could come back for her. But, little did he know, the people he had trusted his little kid with were the ones he should have been worried about the most.
His name was Charlie. He had been her dad’s best friend. His was his second in command. Him and Frank had grown up together. He had bailed her dad out more times than he could count. And after Frank was arrested, he had promised to follow in Frank’s footsteps, looking after the gang until Frank could return. A promise that he quickly broke, falling deeper and deeper into the drug business and having the Reapers commit more and more crimes out in the open. But, what Astrid remembered most about Charlie was how his smell- the overpowering stench of alcohol and drugs that clung to his skin and carried after him in wafts wherever he went- always, without fail, managed to send chills down her spine.
Whenever Astrid was around, it was as if Charlie became fixated on her. Never once taking his eyes off of her. So, that night, when Charlie came barging through the front door of the trailer, Astrid hide in her room. She tried her best to drone out his loud deep cheers as he patted Pete, the one on shift to watch her for the night, on the back as the game Pete was watching came to and end, going on and on about some new drug, V, he had acquired that they could sell on the black market. Astrid leaned up against the back of her door, holding her knees tightly against her chest as she tried to focus on the music coming out of her walkman and not the boisterous man on the other side of the thinly made walls. But, as the noise from the living room only grew louder, her stomach began to growl, begging her to sneak into the kitchen and heat up one of those microwavable meals. She held out for as long as she could, but after another hour, she finally gave in, quietly tiptoeing over to the door and taking a peak out into the living room.
“Nuh-uh. No way. I’m not taking that. We don’t even know what it does!” Pete exclaimed, gesturing the the vile in Charlie’s hand just as Astrid took a small step out. The second Astrid’s bare little foot stepped out onto the carpet, Charlie’s head snapped to the side. A wicked grin tugging across his lips as he told Pete they had a way of finding out.
Astrid couldn’t tell you what it was about that creepy smile that made every muscle in her body scream for her to run, but letting out a yelp, she darted back into her room, shoving the door closed behind her and tucking the desk chair under the handle in a futile attempt to keep him out. Climbing onto her bed, she pushed herself up on her tiptoes and unlatched the window. Giving it everything she had to hoist herself up. But, Astrid only made it half way out when Charlie grabbed her by her foot and dragged her back down again. She squirmed under his grasp, screaming at any chance she had, before clamping her mouth shut to stop him from making her drink whatever that red liquid in the tube was. But, then he pinched the brim of her noise. Waiting until she was literally gasping for air, before pouring half the vile into her mouth. “Hold still, Kiddo,” He warned her. His hand slamming down on top of her mouth to make sure she’d keep it down as he downed the other half. The blood coursed through her body, burning through her veins as she began to shake underneath his grasp. Tears flooded down her face as he unbuckled his jeans. She blacked out after that, but not before she saw his eyes. Those noticeably silver eyes.
That was the first time of many. Everyone else knew. But, no one ever tried to stop it. So, the little blonde girl, now nymph, grew up and bite her time until she could. She trained and fought everyday. Physically and mentally. Walking around the trailer park, practically numb to the world around her. She started high school. Put up with names and jabs and feeling like her body wasn’t her own for year after year. Until one day, she was finally ready to earn a gang tattoo of her own.
There were always three ways to become an official Reaper. You could A) steal something and bring it back to the leader, B) let the entire gang beat you up, or C) Kill someone. And Astrid found herself opting for option C, for the next time, Charlie came at her, she cut off his hand. And then the rest of him. She kept on slicing and slicing until her shaky hands couldn’t hold the blade any longer.
Everyone else watched. But, no one was able to stop her. The ones who were still loyal to her dad held the people who weren’t back. And she turned intangible before the few that managed to reach her could even attempt to pull her off of him. And when it was finally over? When her white locks and nearly translucent skin was stained red, she turned around, handing the blade over to Pete, before heading back inside to go lie down.
Pete took over the gang after that and, for the most part, everyone left Astrid alone until there was news that her sister would be joining them. Their dad had never wanted Astrid visiting him from behind bars. He didn’t want to make things harder for his little Robin, then it already was. But, he had called Jae to come and see him. He was going to give her sister money to get through college and she’d be able to have a support system. Jayden and Astrid were going to get to be with family.
All Astrid had ever wanted was to get to see her mom and sister again. For it to be the four of them- Frank, Allison, Astrid, and Jayden- together at last. But, Astrid was far from the bright wide eyed little girl she was before. So, when Jae finally arrived, Astrid kept her distance at first. Faking happy around the other until she slowly started to open up and smile for real. The two had lost so much, between their dad being locked up and their mom passing away. But, they had each other and, the more Astrid was around Jae, the more her goofball side she had thought she had lost for good started to creep back out. She even followed after Jae to New York, going to NYU for film.
She was still selling drugs and getting things resolved through violence and petty theft. But, things finally looking up for Astrid. That was until their dad got out of prison. While Frank was everything Jae could have imagined and more, Astrid couldn’t help, but harbor some resentment against the man who was supposed to be there for her. He was supposed to protect her. And instead she had to protect herself. She tried to open up to him. She tried to crack jokes like she did with Jae, but everytime he called her “kiddo” she’d flinch away. And then tragedy struck. Their father got sick and while they did okay for themselves, they couldn’t afford his medication. They had already lost so much time as is, and now? Just as she got her father back again, she was going to loose him. She couldn’t handle that. So, when Jae thought of different cons and got deeper in gang dealings to earn some extra cash, Astrid was right there with her.
Astrid had just started seeing this guy, Damien Kent, and he was a good man. Too good for her. When they had started out dating, he had been playing for the Patriots , but an injury led to his retirement. They hadn’t been going out for too long, but he made her feel more fleshed out than she ever had before. The pair had been out on a date the night things went wrong once more for her.
She always went on drug runs for her family. It was just another errand like picking up the groceries. She would be five minutes tops. She just had to run in and get the money from a guy who wouldn’t pay up. Damien knew enough about her side business. It was kinda hard to hide when the gang insignia was permanently etched into her skin. But, what was supposed to be five minutes ended up taking a lot longer than that. The man she was trying to collect from, started to run, and when she blocked the way to stop him, he pulled out a gun and fired a bullet. A short-lived smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she turned intangible once more. The bullet moving straight through her as if she was nothing more than air. But, when she turned around, there he was. The retired football star with a bullet in his chest. She turned him into a nymph to save his life. But, the fact that he had even been there in the first place would forever be one of her biggest regrets.
After the incident, she quite selling drugs or doing the Reapers dirty work. She knew it was a risk for their dad’s health. But, she just couldn’t keep up with it anymore. She remained in the gang, giving out tattoos and teaching others how to spar. But, as Jae took over the reapers, Astrid stopped being a full member. Throwing herself into a straight-laced career instead and becoming Damien’s manager/agent as he transitioned over into acting. She wasn’t completely happy with how life turned out, but as she moved to Vancouver for her job and to be closer to her sister, Astrid hoped this might be the chance she needed to take back her life again.

Here are our 6 favorite power couples in pro sports
Hello, these couples are incredible.
A “power couple” is defined as a couple consisting of two people who are each influential or successful in their own right. Jay-Z and Beyonce, Barack and Michelle, and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend all top the charts in the power couple category, but what about power couples that are exclusively in sports? Specifically pro sports, with both members of the couple being a professional athlete. There are plenty of athletes with power partners in their own right. Take the incredible Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union for example. But we’re talking sports only here.
So are power couples, sports? Yes, they are.
Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe
Sue and Megan officially met while they were competing for their respective Olympic teams in Brazil during the 2016 Summer Olympics, which as far as meet-cutes go is a pretty perfect story. How can anyone else even top: “Well, we both have gold medals and were just hanging out in a foreign country being amazing athletes when we hit it off.”
We should all be so lucky.
Not only have they both competed in the Olympics and won at the highest levels of their respective sports, they are also pillars of their teams whether it be a National team or their professional teams in the States. They are genuinely lovely people by all accounts, which makes this pairing even more great and heartwarming.

Jrue and Lauren Holiday
Lauren and Jrue became friends in 2008 when they were both attending UCLA and later began to date after Jrue left for the NBA. Lauren is best known as a former member of the US Women’s National Soccer Team, where she won the 2014 US Female Athlete of the Year award, while Jrue is currently the starting point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Before Lauren retired, Jrue was always a noted USWNT fan. I mean, just look at him at here at the World Cup in 2015 supporting Lauren.

Jrue also missed the beginning of the 2016-2017 NBA season to help Lauren, as she was diagnosed with a brain tumor while pregnant with their first child. Doctors were unable to operate on the tumor until after Lauren had the baby, so Jrue chose to stay home to be their through the tough situation. Lauren and the baby are now both healthy and my goodness, no wonder we love this couple so much.

Dom and Sydney Leroux-Dwyer
Dom and Syndey have been dating since 2014, both of them dominant soccer players in the US. Sydney professionally plays for FC Kansas City and was a member of the USWNT, winning in 2012 at the London Olympics and the 2015 World Cup. Dom is a forward for Sporting Kansas City and a member of the USMNT.
Dom and Syndey met in 2014 and ... LOOK AT THEIR DOG. This is a good dog.
You also may remember this famous picture from 2015 after the USWNT won the World Cup.
I'm so proud of you @ddwyer14. I can't wait to see you play for our country. I'm hoping we can take a picture like this again but the other way around. #USMNT

Sydney and Dom also had their first son Cassius Cruz Dwyer in September 2016, and immediately dressed as Aladdin, Jasmine, and Abu. Perfect.
We obviously didn't forget the magic carpet.

Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton
Asthon and Brianne are both retired Olympic athletes, who began dating while both going to school and the University of Oregon. Ashton is a two-time Olympic champion and holds the world record for the decathlon and indoor heptathlon events. Brianne won the Gold Medal in the heptathlon at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf
Long before Andre Agassi had problems applying sun tan lotion while watching Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, he married fellow tennis star Steffi Graf. He also did a bunch of other impressive stuff like win eight majors, 60 total career titles, and 870 total matches in his time on tour.
But that’s not what we’re here about, we’re here about his marriage to Steffi Graf, who was no slouch during her time on the courts either. In fact, she smokes his slam title count with 22 of her own, not to mention the unprecedented (and still unmatched) Golden Slam of 1988 where she won every Major tournament plus took home a gold medal at the Seoul Olympics. For kicks she added a another Major title and Olympic medal in doubles as well, losing only three matches all year.
Which is probably why it’s so fun to consider that this couple actually exists. They’ve been married since 2001 and have two kids together, and are now content to watch some tennis, coach when they feel like it, and film some commercials together on top of that. If your marriage consists of two Hall of Fame athletes with trophies out the wazoo, that’s exactly the way you should be treating retirement.
Nomar Garciaparra and Mia Hamm
You forgot about these two, didn’t you? Nomar and Mia also fall into the Andre/Steffi category in that they just look like they are having so much fun being married and hanging out after retiring from baseball and soccer, respectively.
Although Nomar doesn’t technically have a championship (we still think of that 2004 trade sometimes too), he did get a World Series ring from Boston, and Mia has two World Cup wins and two gold medals to her name. One of Nomar’s best moments on the Red Sox related directly to his relationship with Hamm, as he refused to shave his head during the 2003 “Cowboy Up!” season because his wedding was only a few months away.
Now that’s commitment, to your future wife and to keeping those wedding photos classy.
Even though they still dip their toes in the pro sports world in various ways, whether that be with jobs in the media or philanthropic efforts, it’s nice to see two fun former pro athletes be content to be a normal, dorky married couple together.

Second Chance
Biography:
Life was charmed for Harmony growing up. The statement sounds cheesy, but in all ways life was picture perfect for her. Her parents were still together and supportive to the point of almost becoming irritating. School came easily enough for her and so did making friends. She’d not only known what she’d wanted to do growing up but had the talent and drive to achieve it, too. By all accounts, Harmony should’ve either been relegated to sitting with the theatre geeks or hated by anyone but the popular kids in school. Instead, she managed to jump between groups, somehow making everyone believe that she belonged everywhere. If she hadn’t lived it, Harmony would have said that it was the set up for a terrible television movie. That easy perfection followed her for years after high school. First to Emerson College in Boston, just an hour from her parents and home town. There she was able to push herself further into the craft and really begin to understand just what she was setting herself up for. But at the end of four years, Harmony decided to take her studies a step further. People told her it was silly because no one really cared if an actor had a Master’s degree, but Harmony cared. She didn’t just want to act, she wanted to be remembered as being one of the best and that meant doing the work. That mindset continued once she was finally ready to move to Los Angeles. Trying to find representation, Harmony supplemented her bartending wages by working commercials and infomercials when she could. Later, she started managing to earn some featured extra work. It had the dual benefit of helping her earn hours for her union membership and the long shot that someone would notice her. She’d never expected that the person that noticed her would be Grant Riley. It seemed like just another example of how her luck never really seemed to fail. At least that’s what she thought as she got caught up in the whirlwind that was being linked to taking one of the most eligible bachelors off the market, temporarily at first and then permanently once they married. Except it wasn’t a lucky break for her, but just the opposite. It took about a year for Harmony to start realizing that the first thing she was asked when she went into a casting was how Grant was. From there it didn’t take long to see how she declined most roles she was offered because it conflicted with a press tour or something that Grant was doing. Wanting to make it work, Harmony decided that she’d support Grant’s career while it was booming. It was Hollywood, after all. Eventually the pendulum would swing the opposite way and it would be her turn. That lasted until she couldn’t avoid the rumors anymore, especially as they started coming from people closer and closer to their inner circle. That was when she served Grant with divorce papers. Harmony wasn’t surprised when Grant didn’t put up a fight, but she was hurt by it. Though that hurt was nothing compared to when his team started a full campaign to make the divorce about her suspicions rather than the fact that everything she suspected was because of what Grant did. The combination of the media blitz and Grant having far more sway than she did meant that Harmony found herself completely alone and shellshocked, not even sure that the girl who’d moved to LA would recognize who she’d turned into. She was half in the mind to just go home. To give up. Maybe teach. Anything to get away from what her life had turned into. Instead, she let herself be convinced to move to Vancouver. That part actually took minimal convincing . It was when it was suggested that she audition for Second Chance that the convincing had to take place. As far as Harmony was concerned, she was done. Not only did she not think she could handle running in the entertainment crowd after what had happened but she’d barely gotten offers when she was Grant Riley’s wife, so she doubted she’d start getting them now that she was apparently his irrational ex. Eventually she only agreed when she heard that her friend had stuck their neck out for her and they agreed to leave it alone if it didn’t work out. If Harmony had still believed in her luck, she might’ve thought it was back when she found out that she was cast in the show. Instead, she was wary. Life wasn’t as charmed as she used to think it was and she wasn’t even sure that she was up to the job or the prying that would come when it was time for press. That probably showed, too. At the start, Harmony was so obsessed with being perfect and not giving anyone reason to doubt her that she focused on work with a laser like precision. She wasn’t rude, she just spent all of her time when she wasn’t filming filling notebooks with thoughts about her character. Some might’ve said that she was avoiding figuring out who she was again in her late twenties. Instead of just being Harmony, she was trying to go from Grant Riley’s Wife to Serious Television Actress. While she’s thawed a little and gotten much better at faking camaraderie, Harmony is still very reserved about the personal details she shares and how open she really is. She might not be acting like a zombie anymore, but she’s still not really sure who she is or what her place in all of this is. It’s painful for her to realize how far she’s deviated from the plan she had for the twenty-three years or so before Grant walked into her life, so Harmony does her best to just not think about it at all.
Plans/Ideas:
If it weren’t obvious from the backstory, I really, really want Harmony to finally take time to come to terms with the fact that who she became doesn’t need to be who she is and just get to know herself again. She was so committed to something that she knew wasn’t working that she managed to just lose all sight of herself and it’s going to take work (and support) to kind of reconcile it all and then move on.
I also think it could be interesting if somehow someone on the production end lets it slip that while she was married, Grant was instructing studios to blacklist her. She lost a lot of confidence in general giving everything up for him only for him to cheat and destroy her reputation, but she’d be crushed (and then next level pissed) if she found out that he had a hand in her not getting offers or only getting offers that he’d pull out the “good wife” card to get her to decline them.
I’d also like to see her let her guard down. Not just a little bit, but at least half way. Maybe all the way if it works out. It’d be a slow process, but Grant and her “friends” really did a number on her when it comes to trusting and leaning on others. Since the divorce, she really hasn’t opened herself up to thinking of future relationships (platonic or romantic) with people. She just focuses on getting through that interaction.
Just like… all the things, really. I really want to see Harmony kind of rebuild herself to what she started as but wiser and stronger, but it’ll probably be a rollercoaster because yikes… she had a number done on her.
Anything Else:
I hope you guys don’t mind, but I inserted Emerson as her undergraduate followed by Yale since Yale School of Drama is a graduate only program. The timing should still all work out okay, though. Uh… sometimes I don’t have a filter and just write way too much random stuff.
