🕯️
send me 🕯️to hear my character's inner thoughts about your character.
Tumblr media
☠🌏– ...When I first saw her... I couldn't help but feel... scared? Is that the right word? I don't even know... It was a real weird sensation...
Kinda like... when you go to the center to get blood taken, and then you see your own blood in the tube, fully aware that that's YOUR blood.
Ah, that sounds fuckin' weird, doesn't it...?
But... there's somethin' freaky about seein' a reflection of yourself covered in scars, with a different light in her eyes. Not like that's a bad thing necessarily but...
Rika clutches the arm where her own scar was.
...What has she gone through? What has she seen? It's like... lookin' into a mirror that doesn't match you at present. But...
I dunno. There's a certain... sadness, in her. Like trees, in November. Or... maybe it's just me? Am I just projectin'...? Am I the one feelin' sad instead...?
Everytime I feel weighed down by the stress and I look at myself in the mirror and I see my own scar... I can't help but feel sorry for myself. So when I look at her... my head has trouble. She is me, but she's not me... And I know why that's the case, but...
I just... when I look at her...
It feels unreal, yet so real at the same time. Like I'm lookin' at somethin' I'm not meant to be lookin' at... and yet...
I just want to hold her hands and tell her it's gonna be okay. Even if she doesn't need it... Even if she's fine now, and my words might be redundant or unnecessary.
Everytime I look at her... I just feel so much. All these contradictory thoughts n' emotions n' shit... It kinda gives me a headache, heh. But...
At the end of the day... she's her own person, as bizarre as the logic is. A person that's gone through a lot... and although I don't think she needs me to say these things, or needs to know somethin' she knows already...
...I wish I could tell her. I wish I could tell her it's goin' to be okay, without feelin' a knot in my throat.
...Gosh, I'm so dumb...

after listening to an among us song i was given the drive to reboot this au so ,
Tumblr media
originated from a doodle that spiraled , SPREAD THE INFLUENCE is an au where ragatha is the ( unwilling ) host of a parasite called ' the influence ' which is a virus that only wants to spread and survive . she wasn't compliant about it at the beginning which was ' fixed ' with an itty bitty bit of psychological torment !
also yes i know the abbreviation is unfortunate and i do not care it's funny
even though ragatha's still our usual sweet little optimist , there is this persistent feeling of wrongness . too positive . too affectionate . it's like all of her humanity has been scooped out and you're left with the mask she made for others in the circus .
which is how the virus spread in the circus - they preyed on vulnerabilities which was what their host is perfect for . striking when the victim puts their guards down , making them submit under the guise that their problems will be fixed ... unfortunately it's a monkey's paw situation .
of course , that's only for this particular instance of the influencer ! something to note is that the virus takes a lot from the host's personality , so t.i's mellow and passive , only resorting to violence whenever necessary . t.i's not really an opposite ragatha she's more like a Dark , Fucked Up Version of ragatha the amazing digital circus . she cares a lot for everyone she considers a part of her hive , but it took a lot of manipulation and gaslighting for them to get infected .
caine is left uninfected because " i would do that if my goal is to destroy this place ! " t.i's ultimate fear has always been dying . it'll do everything to not die , to the point it's trying to spread out of the circus ( <- honestly take this info with a grain of salt i wrote this before i fully developed the story ) . unfortunately there's this jester who's resisting the virus with pure lesbian rage and is trying to stop her .
Tumblr media
now rags would eventually get de-influenced and the circus will no longer be infected , but we will talk about the extremely rocky journey of recovering from knowing you harmed everyone you cared about Later
Tumblr media
was this ' the influence ' that amanda ( ragatha's va ) keeps referencing ? sighs ... yeah . ( feels so surreal that i can say i have their seal of approval for this )
why ragatha ? in story , how is she not the perfect host ? metatextually , this is an au of an au - this came from a blog about ragatha getting a virus that is inconveniencing her life . i simply thought of an idea of ' hey what if the virus took over her body ' one day . then this abomination was born . i would reveal the why and how she got infected ... eventually .........
is she still afraid of centipedes ? is it a ragatha if she doesn't have a fear of centipedes
does pomni still use a taser ? yeah
could i use / be inspired by the influence for my au ? i did not invent the concept of Computer Viruses so feel free to be inspired by it , no credit needed . for t.i as a character specifically , please credit me !
are there ships ? just pomni x ragatha
is suggestive content of t.i ok ? just don't send them to me , tag it as #tw suggestive or #suggestive so i could filter it out
is nsfw content of t.i ok ? my tiny artist hands are powerless against the unstoppable force that is the internet so my answer will not matter . that being said , i recommend that they're not put in the main au tag so people won't unexpectedly come across it . and no i do not want to see it please do not send them to me
could i draw fanart / write fanfic of this au ? 100% yes you could either mention me or tag it under #tadc influence au
does this au have an ask blog ? nah just a normal blog lol
READ THE COMIC ... I GUESS ... !!
the main story
oh boy a prologue

SHE'S MINE (PART TWO)
summary: after you've been attacked, the group becomes cautious and confused, now being targeted as well. but you still can't get over the fact that ghostface had helped you and why you think you know who it may be. and maybe you wouldn't mind keeping a secret.
warnings: scream vi spoilers, language (cussing), blood, gore. it follows the plot loosely.
pairings: ethan landry x fem!reader
authors note: hiiii i really hope u enjoy :-) also i have no idea if mindy shared the apartment with tara, sam and quinn but if she didn’t, we're just going to pretend she does and i also altered ethan's motive a bit too for this (lowkey was inspired by don't blame me by taylor swift so if you like listening to music when reading, i recommend that song for this part)
———————————————————————————
The hospital visit wasn't as long as you anticipated. Two of the stabs you endured hadn't cut deep so they were able to stitch it upon your first visit and they closed up that same night—it still hurt like a bitch. Your previous stab wound was the worst one overall as the stitching process was a lot more painful because your skin was sensitive as it had been punctured once before.
When you were released, Sam took you under her care. She didn't feel safe having you and Anika alone in your apartment since the attack so she offered her, Tara, Mindy and Quinn's home to you two. It didn't really matter for Anika as she was always there in the first place but it bothered you.
You didn't mean to feel unappreciative but you hated being controlled by useless fear. Whether or not Ghostface attacked you in your home, he would find them someway or another; it didn't matter where you were. But, you agreed in order to clear her conscious.
They didn't ask much questions when you were in the hospital. After the second Ghostface left the apartment, you remembered blacking out and waking up in the hospital bed with Anika by your side. The doctor wouldn't let anyone come in since you were preparing for surgery but decided to let Anika stay since she was your roommate.
Her story was that your security system she had built when you two first moved in had went off when the second Ghostface broke in. Her and Mindy didn't tell everyone before leaving because they didn't want to risk not making it in time. The frat house was only a block down so they just ran their way to your building, ultimately finding your unconscious body on the kitchen floor.
Anika told you that they had met Ethan at the entrance of the building when the ambulance was called and said you called him, which was true but you wondered what took him so long. You were highly suspicious of him but you didn't want to be because he was your best-friend, you couldn't imagine him having anything to do with this.
Ever since that night, he was around, a lot. He even skipped his Econ classes to keep you company because Sam didn't want you to be alone and everyone else was busy.
You didn't ask him about what happened. You were afraid of what the outcome would be. But you knew you had to do something in order to understand. At least interrogating the truth out of him (because he couldn't lie to you) would give you peace of mind—well, depending on the answer.
"You don't have to be here, you know." You broke the silence, watching him write notes from the lecture he was missing.
"But I want to be," he told you honestly.
"E, you're missing Econ. You have an exam this week."
"I'll be fine, don't worry." He looked up from his notebook, putting the lecture video on pause to give you his full attention. "I don't want anything to happen to you again."
"Ghostface rarely attacks in the daytime," you joked.
"Still, Y/N/N." He was being serious. "Your stitches haven't even fully healed yet."
"This isn't the first time." You sighed. "Plus, Ghostface never attacks the same person twice."
"Says who?"
"Says Mindy."
Ethan rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, I don't want to take any chances."
It went back to comfortable silence. You went back to reading your book for your English class while he continued to write his notes. After a couple more minutes, you decided to ask the question that had been eating you alive.
"What took you so long?" you asked randomly.
He furrowed his brows, turning to look at you. "What do you mean?"
"When I was attacked," you clarified. "I called you and you said you and Chad were on the way. Anika and Mindy beat you to it and Chad wasn't even with you when you arrived."
Ethan looked away, his face becoming pale. "Well, I went to go find Chad when you were on the call but I couldn't find him so I decided to leave. I didn't realize how much time I wasted until I saw police lights outside your building."
That was the first and final conversation you two had about it. You gathered what you knew from it but, again, you didn't want to believe he was Ghostface. Unless he wasn't and used the costume to throw the other one off. But where could he buy a replica of it that quickly and still be able to make it in time to save you? It didn't make sense.
You kept this realization to yourself. You felt guilty for it, especially because if he was apart of the plan in harming your friends, this smudge of proof could be enough to hold him accountable before it was taken too far. Of course, you didn't listen to yourself and decided to keep his secret that he wasn't even sure you knew because of how much you liked him.
On the third day of your recovery, your stitching was finally beginning to heal. It hurt to bend down and sometimes walk because it worked the muscles underneath the wound but you couldn't stand doing nothing anymore.
You made the excuse that you were planning to meet Ethan at his dorm for the night because you promised to help him with Econ. Sam wasn't exactly keen on the idea, wondering why he couldn't come to meet you here but you told her you were beginning to feel claustrophobic and wanted to get out. She didn't say much in defense and reluctantly agreed.
They all offered to walk you there just in case something were to happen but you brushed them off. If your assumption about Ethan was correct, he wouldn't let anything happen to you.
The subway was packed because it was nearing Halloween and it took you awhile to finally make it inside one. And the thirty minute ride to campus added onto the time. It was around twelve at night when you arrived at his dorm.
First, you decided to knock. Nobody answered. Then you remembered he had an Econ lecture to attend for the night and took out the extra key he had given you awhile ago and unlocked it yourself.
Honestly, you were glad he wasn't there because it would make your digging a lot more easier.
You searched through everything he owned. Through his drawers (which you highly regretted), under his bed, inside some of his unpacked bags—everywhere but you couldn't find anything that incriminated him.
It had been what felt like hours, but was really only thirty minutes, when you gave up. Your phone was going off but you didn't pay any mind to it because the group had consistently texted you ever since your attack; you just assumed it was them checking up on you and then getting paranoid because you weren't answering. Even if you knew you should've checked, you didn't bother as you were going to head back to the apartment anyway.
You quietly snuck out of the room, making sure the coast was clear until you turned your head to the left and saw Ghostface, waiting there for you. When you tried to scream, they grabbed your face with their hand, restricting your voice from releasing.
They were strong, being able to grab your entire body with their one arm and toss you carelessly back into the room.
You hit the floor, wincing at the impact because of your stitches. Ghostface shut the door behind them, looking down at you. They stalked toward you very slowly as you made sure to keep your distance from them.
Using the dresser that stood behind you, you lifted yourself up with your available arm as the other clutched your stitching instinctively to keep you balanced. It was a silent stare-down until they reached for their mask, untucking it from the behind. Then, they pulled it off.
You stared in shock. "…Ethan?"
"Y/N." He didn't have much expression on his face. He looked out of breath as you could see sweat shimmering on his face from the lighting.
"Oh, my god," You breathed out. Although you suspected him this whole time, finally being able to know it was the truth hurt you more than being stabbed. "You're Ghostface."
"What the hell are you doing here?" Ethan ignored your statement as he furrowed his brows.
"I knew it. I knew you were the one who saved me," you confessed. "That's why I'm here."
"You shouldn't be here," he told you, shaking his head.
"You're trying to kill me and our friends and you're telling me what I shouldn't be doing?!"
"Y/N, there's more to this than you know."
"That much is obvious," you snapped. He tried to step toward you but you backed up. "Stay away from me."
"Please, just listen to me," Ethan began to plead.
"You let them attack me!"
"No, I didn't!" he declared, lowering his voice when he saw it made you flinch. "They promised to leave you out of it. That was the only thing I told them to do."
"They?" you repeated in confusion.
He thought over his response for a second. "Look, what I'm doing—what I've done—is for a good reason. You have to understand."
You furrowed your brows. "What have you done, E?" You couldn't help but use his nickname; you couldn't help but try to hear him out.
"Y/N." He walked toward you slowly and this time, you didn't back away from him. "You're the only thing I care about. If it means I have to kill a thousand people to keep you safe, then I'd do it."
"I don't understand." Your voice was almost a mumble.
"I agreed to do this before I met you but when I did, it all changed. I-I tried to convince them to stop. I wanted to try and be good—for you but she found out and threatened to kill you if I didn't continue with the plan so I did with the exception that they would leave you out of it," he explained softly. "I did this…for you."
You looked at him like he was insane (he kind of was). "You'd kill our friends?"
"If it meant that you'd be safe."
His words didn't completely register but when they did, you couldn't help but feel guilty. You had a crush on him for so long and here he was, basically confessing his love for you in such a fucked up way. You hated yourself for finding him even more attractive after hearing him say those words.
"Ethan…" you whispered his name.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked. "Can I please kiss you?"
You didn't give him an answer as you closed the space between the two of you.
It seemed wrong—no, it was wrong. Kissing him while he still wore the Ghostface robe, one that he wore while taking someone's life.
You knew he wasn't wearing this costume for fun. They only ever wore it for a purpose. Even though your mind was totally blanked because of how dumb his lips made you, when you pulled apart, you began to think about where he had come from and who he had just killed and why you weren't more concerned about the matter.
He chased after your lips, kissing you again with more force this time, even pulling you closer by the waist. You only pulled away because you were receiving a call.
You pulled your phone out from your pocket, the reality setting in when you saw Sam's contact. He looked down with you, not doing much in keeping you from answering. It took you a couple more seconds of contemplating until you decided to click the green button, putting the phone to your ear.
You took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?"
"Y/N, what the hell?!" Sam hollered into the speaker, her voice mixed with relief and annoyance. "Why weren't you answering? Are you okay?!"
"Yeah, I'm fine," you replied rather nonchalantly. "I had my phone off. What's wrong, Sam?"
There was a short beat. "Ghostface attacked us."
You furrowed your brows, glancing at Ethan. "What?"
"Yeah, he killed Quinn and…"
"And?" you repeated instantly. "Who else, Sam?"
"Anika…" Sam's voice was barely above a whisper. "Y/N, I'm so sorry. I-I tried to help her."
You shut your eyes, feeling tears starting to build. There was silence on the line and you were sure it was because Sam didn't want to say anything knowing you would be taking her death as personal as Mindy did.
Suddenly, your stab wounds began to throb which made you let out a grunt. You knew better than to cry over Anika only because it would achieve nothing. Yes, it was messed up that you were now standing in the room with her murderer, watching him undress himself of his black robe that he wore while killing her but you realized nothing you could've said or done—whether you got to him before she died—could've changed her outcome.
You watched him pull out a hunting knife from his back pocket, the silver glistening with dried blood. That blood probably belonged to Anika and Quinn. It made your throat go dry.
"Sam," you blurted quietly.
"What, Y/N?"
You were going to say it; tell her the truth. It was the right thing to do. Ethan, even if you liked him a lot, had just murdered your best friend and one of Sam's. They deserved the justice of their murderer being caught.
But when he walked back over to you, his eyes scanning your expression, you had already picked your choice.
"Y/N, what? Are you okay?" Sam's voice echoed in your mind.
"Yeah, yeah, it's just…" You tried to find the words. "Is everyone else okay? Did you get hurt?"
"We're fine. Mindy got cut but she's fine," Sam answered softly. "Can you come down here? I'd feel a lot better if you were here with us. Plus, I'm sure you can comfort Mindy than the rest of us. She doesn't want to be anywhere near Tara or Chad."
You let out a shaky breath. "Yeah. Ethan and I are on our way."
"Ethan?" she questioned.
"Yeah. Remember I told you I was going to meet him at his dorm? I was with him the whole night," you lied.
"Oh, okay." Sam sighed into the speaker. "That's good to hear, actually. Mindy thinks Ethan was the one behind all of this but if you were with him then it checks him out."
"Don't worry, Sam," you said. "We'll be there shortly."
"Okay, see you soon. Be safe."
You nodded, even though she couldn't see you and then hung up.
"You kept my secret?" Ethan asked.
You shook your head. "I shouldn't have. You killed Anika and Quinn."
He bit his lip, nodding calmly. "I know, I know. It wasn't exactly my first choice. But I had to for saving you the other night."
"Yeah, I know," you mumbled. "But did you mean it?"
"Mean what?" He furrowed his brows.
"What you said about wanting to be good?" You repeated his words. "Because that's the only reason I saved your ass. I should hate you. You killed Anika."
"Y/N/N," he said softly, walking over to grab your hands. "I only did this to protect you. They made me think my original motive was right but it's actually fucked up. I realized that the moment I met you. So, yes, I do mean it. And I'm sorry about Anika. I didn't really want to do it either."
You mulled over his words, looking down at your connected hands until you finally spoke. "Okay. Then, I'll help you," you informed him. "But, in order for me to do that, I need to know everything."
Let's just say it was an interesting conversation.

I kind of don't want to compare Wan to Ek cause Wan's love for Pleng is actual love vs. Ek's "love" for Wan being just pure possessive obsession. He doesn't care for Wan in the same way that Wan does for Pleng, but I do feel like both of them have similar levels of obsessive love for their targets of affection and I think in a lot of ways the novel kind of has Ek serve as a foil to Wan.
More spoilery novel thoughts below the cut.
When Ek threatened Wan and Pleng with a gun, Wan was extremely nonchalant about the whole thing ... like disturbingly chill in how she stood against him and did not seem afraid of the gun at all. And that was because that Wan argued that she knew without a doubt that because Ek loved her, that he'd never hurt her like that.
Ek's "love" for Wan is monstrously evil and possessive—he married Wan despite knowing that she didn't love him and he raped her when she wouldn't have sex with him—but Wan seems to understand him and his feelings well enough to know that he wouldn't actually kill her. And that instead, he would try to kill himself to hurt her and her relationship in another way.
That's utterly deranged thinking, but it's thinking that Wan understood immediately, which was why she reacted quickly and was able to change the trajectory of the bullet when she intervened.
I really hate to say it, but Wan and Ek are actually extremely similar in a lot of ways. As fucking deranged it is to marry a man in the hopes of seeing your true love who you haven't seen in over ten years at the wedding ... it is also fucking deranged to marry a woman you supposedly love when you know her sole reason for marrying you is so that she can see the person she really loves. I wonder if part of the reason that Wan remained by Ek's side for so long wasn't only because Pleng had picked him, but because a part of her felt a little bit understood by him.
He does constantly dismiss Wan and Pleng's feelings towards each other and their relationship with one another, of course. He is still, after all, a homophobic violent misogynist who views the lesbian relationship between the two as "non-threatening" up until the end of the novel when he realizes that Wan was genuinely incapable of ever loving him.
But he was also probably the only person in Wan's life who could even begin to understand the pain that Wan was going through. In the special chapters, Wan mentions that he offered her comfort and hope about the idea of Pleng returning. He dismisses the relationship because they're both women, but simultaneously, he understands the depth and intensity of it.
And I think Wan was partly able to tolerate his feelings towards her for so long, because she felt understood by him in a sense and because she might have felt she understood him.
She loved Pleng enough to want to remain only a friend for the rest of their lives. She only became emboldened in her feelings and flirting when she realized that Pleng felt the same way towards her. I think maybe, initially, she thought that Ek's feelings towards her were the same. That he loved her enough to be satisfied with a friendship. That he loved her enough to want to care and protect her, but of course that wasn't the case.
Because the similarities between Ek and Wan are fairly surface level when it comes down to it, because while both are obsessive, possessive, and ultimately toxic, Ek cares more about having Wan than he does about Wan's safety and well-being.
Ek tried to kill himself in order to hurt Wan. Which directly contrasts against Pleng and Wan. In the novel, Pleng mentions contemplating suicide in the past but she doesn't act on it for fear that Wan would learn of it and it would hurt her, lead to her own death. And at the end of the novel when it seems like Wan is on the verge of killing herself—as implied in a note that she left for Pleng to spitefully hurt her (Wan's love is more "pure" than Ek's, but both still have malicious streaks)—but while she considers it, she ultimately decides to not kill herself because she wouldn't want to hurt Pleng like that.
Ek's love for Wan foils Wan's love for Pleng in this sense, because it demonstrates that while Wan is selfish, obsessive, possessive, and deranged that she is still a caring and loving partner and that ultimately her love for Pleng is fueled by a genuine love for all of Pleng whereas Ek only loved Wan as a possession to be owned and only loved the parts of her that were palpable to him.

Tumblr media
These are romantic headcanons with the Hashiras, unlike my other series with Izuru Kamukura!Reader x Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Spoiler warning for Muichiro’s.
Tumblr media
Gyomei Himejima
He thought you were a gift from the gods, to be honest. A typical civilian usually wasn’t able to master every single breathing technique. He could tell that you weren’t a demon either, even though you could recreate the blood demon arts that you’ve witnessed… aside from Rip-Off Michael Jackson’s Muzan Kibutsuji’s.
When you said that you wanted to become a demon slayer, he can’t say that he was exactly supportive. It’s not that he thought you weren’t capable (obviously), but rather he was very scared about the prospect of losing you. You were just doing this to try and find something interesting and intriguing since you were always bored, but this loving giant was so worried every single time you had a mission that he was not a part of.
This man was crying while praying that you would survive Final Selection. Once he heard from Ubuyashiki that you did make it through, he let out a sigh of relief. But, Ubuyashiki also pulled him aside from his training for a few moments to inform him of something that you requested him to know while you were gone. To hear about the procedure… he couldn’t even cry. But he was definitely angry that his beloved had to go through that.
Once Haganezuka had your sword ready, Gyomei sat with you as you unsheathed it. The swordsmith was angry upon seeing your blade turn black, but then you readjusted your grip and it turned bright red. The Stone Hashira could feel the immense heat coming from your nichirin sword and was actually very surprised. The swordsmith went from sour to super sweet, happy to know that he forged your sword.
To be honest, he doesn’t like how you fight with your hair down, as it can get in the way. If you ask him to put your hair into a ponytail, he will consider it the highest honor and might even tear up a tad bit. As he gathered the hair from in front of your face, he actually brushed his finger against the lobotomy scar you had and apologized. You said it was fine, and you even thanked him for putting your hair up for you.
A lot of demons are typically afraid of you aside from the Uppermoons, but all of the Hashira know that Muzan is scared of you. You were able to use Sun Breathing, the technique that was basically the mother of all other breathing techniques, and the only person who was able to scare the Demon King. Gyomei, however, is still very worried about you, since you only ever cared about doing something unpredictable.
Tumblr media
Mitsuri Kanroji
She found you so hot, not going to lie. We all know that she’s looking for a strong bachelor/bachelorette to be her spouse, and you being the only person who could master any breathing technique including Sun Breathing. She’s swooning, and she’s imagining you catching her and being her hero.
That excitement kind of ends once she finds out that you desired to become a demon slayer, and even a Hashira. Don’t you know that you could get killed? Well, apparently you did, and you even told her that you were mostly doing this for the unpredictability that comes with each battle you go into. She couldn’t even begin to process the thought of possibly losing you because you are trying to find fun in battle, and for once she actually yelled at you for being reckless. You were definitely not prepared for that, but you were not going to let Mitsuri get hurt without you being there.
You passed Final Selection, and she was upset that you didn’t listen to her. For once, couldn’t you listen to her? She would have been proud had you told her your reasoning behind your decision beforehand. She loved you, and did not want to see you hurt in battle. But, you didn’t want the same thing happening to her either. Quite the conundrum that you have found yourselves in, hm?
Her nightmare was further solidified when you had received your blade and it was originally black. She made sure to have mitarashi dango on hand, luckily, but then you said that this wasn’t it and readjusted your grip on the handle. The sword turned bright red, and both the swordsmith and Love Hashira let out a gasp upon seeing it.
When you ask her if she could tie up your hair, she giggles before grabbing a ribbon and tying your hair up. However, it reveals the scar on your forehead. She knows better than to ask about it, but you were fine with telling her what happened. Poor baby cried upon hearing about the excruciating pain you endured just so those sick people could create a human with the abilities of both demons and demon slayers.
She also knows how you quickly rose in reputation amongst everyone. The Ultimate Hashira, a person who demons and slayers both feared. You actually worried that someone would target her to try and get to you, and the sight of you being scared for her made her heart flutter just a tad bit. But she had to admit, she was scared too.
Tumblr media
Giyu Tomioka
He was very wary of you at first, considering you only had to watch him perform his breathing style and then you could take his sword and recreate it perfectly. Not just that, but you could also, with a blade, recreate some Blood Demon Arts that you have bore witness to. You were a total hazard to humanity, but he does not know why he fell for you.
It could be that you constantly butt heads. He did not want you to be in the Demon Slayer Corps for such a reason as pure boredom. That was not a noble cause in his eyes, but you did it anyway and actually passed Final Selection (unsurprisingly). He was still relieved that none of the demons trapped in there got the best of you, though. You were not expecting to be pulled into his arms when he saw you again.
Giyu was also sitting with you once you got your blade, along with Ubuyashiki and Haganezuka. All four of you could tell that this wouldn’t be your typical unsheathing. Once you did, it turned black. The Water Hashira’s eyes widened in realization, but his master put a reassuring hand upon his and the swordsmith’s shoulders before looking back at you. You put more pressure on your grip upon the handle, and your blade turned bright red. It was a shock to both Giyu and Haganezuka, but not to you or Ubuyashiki.
When he found out about your lobotomy, it was during training and your hair moved in a way that revealed the scar. He stopped his swing as he slowly walked towards you and gently placed his hand on the side of your head and his thumb softly ran over the rough skin. You let out a sigh before explaining what happened to you, and it made him sick to be honest. However, you seemed perfectly fine, but kind of filled with a desire to get your revenge…
Anyways, you once asked him to tie your hair up so that it was out of your way for training, and he did it with no questions asked. He seemed to know what he was doing, but internally his heart was pounding against his chest as he gathered all of your hair into a ponytail. After he tied it up, he pressed a soft kiss upon your neck before going back to his ready stance so the two of you could continue training.
Your reputation as the Ultimate Hashira did not intimidate Giyu at all. In fact, he was definitely very honored to see a Sun Breather. When you tell him that you are kind of worried about him being a target, he will make sure to stay with you as long as he can when you’re not on missions. When you get assigned, however, you both think it’s better if you don’t go on the same one, otherwise both of you will be distracted.
Tumblr media
Tengen Uzui
At first glance, you seemed relatively boring. However, upon seeing that you could master any blade handed to you as well as any Breathing Technique, you became flashy to the Sound Hashira. He was actually very impressed with how you copied his Sound Breathing to perfection; better than any of his wives could even though they’ve been around him the longest compared to you.
When you told him that you wanted to become a Hashira, he smirked, knowing that if anyone could manage it, it would be you. You mastered Sun Breathing itself, so there was really nothing you couldn’t do. Now, it was when you were at Final Selection when he found out about the procedure done to you. Suma burst into tears as Makio and Hinatsuru gasped. Tengen could barely keep his anger inside, as he was aware that it went against the rules of the Corps to fight another human.
You returned to your lovers (yes, lovers) and they all waited with you for your blade. Considering Uzui was a Hashira, Haganezuka worked his hardest on your sword. Gasps sounded as well as a shout of angry surprise upon revealing that the metal had turned black. Your man had to hold the swordsmith back from hurting you when you said that there was something else. You readjusted your grip and it turned a glowing red. Your face held no shock, but everyone else’s did. Haganezuka just about passed out from the amount of joy he had.
That aside, your husband and wives loved seeing you use your range of breathing techniques. You were the only person in the world who could use all of them, including the original Sun Breathing. To train, you went against your spouses and Tengen even called it flashy whenever you used his Sound Breathing (this man has an ego bigger than my love for food).
Once, you asked Suma to help you tie up your hair before going back to training, but that caused a bit of an argument to break out between your wives. You let out a sigh before changing your mind and asking your husband to help out. Let me tell you, the argument shifted from just your wives to now your husband and wives. So, in an act to try and get them all to shut up, you unwrapped Tengen’s headwrap and instead wrapped it around yourself. This got everyone to settle down in just a few seconds.
If Tengen considers himself a god, you are probably in a higher rank than him as a deity (in his perspective). After all, you were much stronger than he was. Your wives often fawned over your strength, fainting whenever you carried one of them on your back. You could even carry the Sound Hashira himself, and he laughed out loud when you picked him up off of the ground.
Tumblr media
Sanemi Shinazugawa
When Ubuyashiki said that you were a civilian who mastered every breathing technique you’ve seen, Sanemi thought it was bullshit. Well, one match later and there he is, getting the wind knocked out of him, and the pun is intended. But, he had to admit that the fact that you were able to put him in his place made his heart beat fast against his chest.
He is supportive when you voice your desire to join the Corps, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t scared without you being there next to him. While you were at Final Selection, he was training harder than ever to get his mind off of you. The Master had to make sure that he set aside time to take a break, eat, and sleep. It was during one of these breaks where one of the daughters of Ubuyashiki came out and gave Sanemi the file of your procedure, saying that you wished for him to receive it in your absence.
The Wind Hashira sat down and read it and got increasingly mad upon each word he read. The lobotomy procedure was recorded in excruciating detail, and he could feel himself getting sick. When you came back, he brushed your hair off of your forehead and looked at the scar that the surgery had left behind. Bro was just about ready to murder the people who did this to you, but you told him that they were long gone even though he didn’t actually say anything.
Haganezuka eventually arrived with your sword, and Sanemi sat with you as you unsheathed it. His eyes went wide when he saw it was black, but he tackled the swordsmith so that he wouldn’t lay a finger upon a single strand of hair on your head. But then the room lit up a bit and you stood up and showed them your sword. It was bright red. The men stopped fighting each other and each stood shocked at what happened.
This man has no idea how to tie up hair, so when you ask him he’s gonna refuse. You ask if it’s because he doesn’t know how and he says he does, but you know the truth. The man was just a bit too predictable when it came to his pride being questioned. You shrugged as you tied your own hair up, but later he goes to ask Mitsuri to teach him how to do it because he wants to learn how without admitting to you that he was not able to. The Love Hashira squealed in excitement when she learned the intentions behind it, and gladly assisted him by practicing with ropes.
You mastered Sun Breathing, and that meant that you were the most feared Hashira among any of them. You were as relentless as you were graceful in battle, and Sanemi knew this. However, he was aware that he was a target. Time and time again, you would scold him for rushing into battle head-on without thinking, but he never really listened to you until the fight was against an Uppermoon.
Tumblr media
Shinobu Kocho
She was definitely very intrigued when she heard that you were capable of mastering all of the breathing techniques that you either witnessed or read about. Heck, you were even able to recreate most of the Blood Demon Arts that you’ve seen, aside from Muzan’s. She actually wondered if there was something inside of you that gave you the capability.
That was the moment where you handed her an older-looking file before you headed off to Final Selection. While you were away, she did tests on the DNA samples as well as read what you gave her… only to find out that the abilities you have were given to you via a lobotomy. She read word-for-word what they had done to you to create the Ultimate Humanbeing. It was sickening and infuriating, to say the least.
When you had arrived at the Butterfly Estate, she immediately took you to one of the rooms where you would be hospitalized for a few days. During this time, she would ask you about the procedure and the… scientists… who did it to you. You said that you had exacted your revenge a while ago, and now were trying to turn your life around for the better.
A few days later, Aoi, Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho all reported to Shinobu that Haganezuka was approaching the mansion with your new sword. He was let in, and you were getting annoyed by how long his speech was getting. You pulled him by the coat and dragged him inside, and that surprised everyone. With a death glare in your eye, you said that you would be willing to use your Sun Breathing technique with your wife’s sword if he didn’t shut up and give him your sword. Well, we all know how it goes, and you now have a bright red nichirin sword.
Shinobu likes tying up your hair for you because it’s a whole other level of intimacy. If you want, she’ll even acquire for you a butterfly clip so that the two of you could match. Maybe one in a red color rather than a purple color to match the handle of your sword. She would feign sadness if you refused her offer, but she’d giggle before getting one for you anyway.
Being the Ultimate Hashira, demons are aware of your abilities and how you are immune from every attack save for age. But, another thing you weren’t immune to was losing someone you cared about. Muzan did not order your death, but rather your wife’s, knowing that it would get to you and leave you in an angrily distracted and vulnerable state. That’s what he wanted, or else you would not be stoppable.
Tumblr media
Kyojuro Rengoku
This man is definitely surprised when Ubuyashiki introduces you to everyone as a civilian woman who mastered Sun Breathing just by reading about it. So, that being said, he takes a deep interest in you and introduces himself to you first, and offers to show you around. He even showed off his Flame Breathing, and handed his sword to you to show him Sun Breathing, only for you to do both.
When you tell him that you want to become a demon slayer and go to Final Selection, he knows that he cannot interfere with your decision. So, he offers to help you train. Once you do leave, you have your crow deliver a file for you to Rengoku. It was from your lobotomy, and the Flame Hashira already knew of your scar. But, now he had all of the gorey details, and a sick stomach upon reading more and more. All that torture… just to create a superhuman?
Once you came back from Final Selection alive and well, he gave you the biggest hug you have ever experienced in your life. You honestly did not know how to react, and asked what he was doing. He apologized for all of the things you had to go through just to be where you are today, and you finally understood where he was coming from. Hesitantly, you wrapped your arms around him in return and leaned into him, letting a stray tear fall down your face.
Anyways, it was about a week after you returned when Haganezuka came to the Rengoku household with your sword. You, Kyojuro, and Senjuro all sat together with the swordsmith as you unsheathed your sword. The youngest Rengoku son almost cried upon seeing the metal turn black, as he read in a book what that typically meant. However, the oldest Rengoku son felt a heat coming from it and had the swordsmith and his brother back up as you readjusted your grip upon the handle. The sword was bright red.
It wasn’t long after where you began training once again. But, you had to admit that your hair was kind of getting in the way and it was annoying you. So, you asked your husband if he could tie your hair up. I feel like when Mitsuri was his Tsugoku, he tied her hair up before, so he knows how to do it. He’s actually surprisingly gentle as well, and you honestly weren’t predicting it at all.
The Ultimate Hashira and the Flame Hashira being romantically involved was supposed to only be known to Ubuyashiki and the rest of the Pillars, along with the Kamaboko squad. However, somehow, the demons heard about it and reported it back to Muzan. Now there was a hit on Kyojuro, and you begged and pleaded with him to not go to the Mugen Train. Well, we all know how that went…
Tumblr media
Obanai Iguro
Not only could you copy anyone’s Breathing Technique, but you were also able to understand and utilize Kaburamaru. You weren’t even a proper demon slayer. But, Obanai had to admit that he could trust you, since his snake trusted you almost as much as he trusted him. You both actually got along quite well, with your whole I’m not putting up with anyone’s crap attitude.
He is understandably scared when you say that you want to become a demon slayer, and he tries to convince you not to go to Final Selection. However, you just took your placeholder sword and went, and he knew that he couldn’t stop you. But, before you left, you gave him a kiss on the bandages on his face and gave him a file filled with details of the procedure you had endured. He read it, and to say that it brought him PTSD would be an understatement. You both were forced into different torturous procedures to make other people happier.
When you returned alive, he let a tear fall before wrapping his arms around you. You definitely were not expecting this, but knowing Obanai, he wasn’t expecting himself to do this either. But, you knew that it was because he now knew that you understood his pain. You took a step back before pulling your hair from your face and showing him the lobotomy scar. He knew what he had to do now, and he unwrapped his bandages to show you the scars he had across his mouth and cheeks. For the next few days, he had his bandages off around you, because he was staying with you as you recovered your stamina.
A few days later, Mr. Haganezuka arrived with your sword. Both you and your husband (during your recovery period, he definitely did ask you to be his wife) were annoyed by the guy’s constant talking and you unsheathed it without waiting. Kaburamaru restricted the swordsmith’s movement when your blade turned black, and Obanai was scared about your fate. However, you gripped the handle tighter and it turned a bright red. Now the swordsmith was happy.
I think he knows how to tie up hair. He might do it to rebandage his face from time to time so that his hair doesn’t get in the way. When you ask him to tie your hair into a ponytail, he is careful to not brush up against your scar, as he knows the skin can be sensitive. He does a pretty good job as well, and he predicts your quick tackle against him to try and tease him a bit. You loved his smile, you thought.
Again, you were known as the Ultimate Hashira, and you were untouchable. Muzan was aware of this, and targeted Obanai upon finding out that you were romantically involved with him. Now, this got you absolutely angry. Your husband was not going to get killed if you had anything to say about it, and now you both became the Ultimate Duo. Your crows were aware that you would stick with each other so he wouldn’t be hurt… or killed.
Tumblr media
Muichiro Tokito
You grew to be kind of annoyed by his in-the-clouds attitude, and smacked him in the back of the head to make him snap out of it. Well, it worked for a bit and he actually saw you. He was lowkey in love, but we’re not going to talk about that yet. You could tell that his airheadedness was not intentional, and that he was a bit like you in that he had lost his memories. Actually, he once took you cloud gazing and it was the most relaxing thing you have done thus far. It was… nice.
Another moment where you’ve made him snap back to reality (oh, there goes gravity) was when you told him that you had received Ubuyashiki’s permission and recommendation to go to Final Selection. He couldn’t go against the word of his master, but he was scared the entire time you were gone. He often went to your house to stay, and there he saw a file and a note that said to read what was inside the cover. It was your procedure, and it was absolutely horrifying for him to read. Those people were sick.
Then you came back in one piece, he asked you about the lobotomy, and the anger he had buried inside of himself came outside to play for a bit. You pulled your hair out of your face as you showed him your scar, and he stood up and walked over to you to gently run his fingers along the marred skin. You told him that you couldn’t remember anything from your past, as the scientists had made sure you forgot any humane qualities about you to create the ultimate superhuman. So, you both agreed that you would try to regain your memories together.
When Haganezuka arrived at your estate with your sword, Muichiro watched intently as you unsheathed the blade. It turned black, but before the swordsmith had the chance to attack you for ‘ruining such a beautiful sword’, you readjusted your grip and put more pressure and it turned bright red, most likely due to your mastery of the Sun Breathing technique and the sheer anger you have inside of you.
This man definitely knows how to tie up hair. If you ask, he’s ready to do it. He has long hair as well, and he’s probably had to tie it up many times. Long hair gets infuriating sometimes. This is just a quick headcanon at this point, but whenever he ties your hair up, there are no bumps. Hailey Bieber’s slicked back ponytail could not compete with the expertise Muichiro has.
Back to the emotional story. The Ultimate Hashira and the Mist Hashira, a couple with anger hidden so deep, my father would come back with the milk by the time we get to the end of the deep pit of fury. One of you was actually the descendent of the Tsugikuni clan, so you were definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Except it's not actually a hierarchy he's created in his head. The thing that so many fans fail to get is that what is truly terrifying about Nagito Komaeda is the fact that there are lots of Nagito Komaedas out there in the world of Danganronpa. People who's sense of self-worth has been royally fucked by the culture that Hope's Peak (and later the Future Foundation) helped foster. Nagito is simply the one who says the quiet stuff out loud. Like something that's really telling in hindsight is before Episode 4, Hajime never actually calls Nagito out on his talk of talentless people being worthless. Because as the climax of the game makes clear, Hajime is one of those many other Nagito Komaedas out there.
Honestly, great point anon thank you! While he undoubtedly does have a hierarchy in his head I actually did forget to mention in my ramble that this specific trait is mostly a learned thing from the world that they live in (never let me cook at 3am again smh). It's commonly accepted and believed in, Hajime is the biggest example that we see. The "objective" fact everyone accepts that the talented are better than the talentless. Hajime only cares when he learns he's "worthless," and it takes a toll on his personal self esteem.
Nagito believes his talent is worthless because it harms everyone around him and only benefits himself, and when there's no one to harm it goes after him, so he considers himself on the same level as someone who isn't an ultimate. Just combining this with his unhealthy coping mechanism and obsession with Hope and we get some of the most important traits of his character. His self esteem may come from growing up with terrible experiences and blaming himself, or that he's on the same level as someone who isn't an ultimate.
I do think that it's upsetting they play into how he thinks he's worthless by never caring to give him reciprocation or just not at all being bothered by his absence when he's suspended it just really sucks.
The closet thing he gets to reciprocation is Chisa which her caring about him ďżźshocks him, and Chiaki a little bit because she's trying to help the whole class and he's included. In Dr2 he is drawn to Hajime and he attempts to get his attention and approval pretty often, they enjoy each other's company at least before things get crazy and Hajime shows reciprocation. Nagito's more of an actual threat in Dr2 and I can understand more their fear and negligence, I still think tying him up and not letting him go anywhere is a horrible thing to do to anyone. I understand it more but It still feels upsetting.
I'm happy for Nagito that Hajime is in his life though, he seems to genuinely love him/care for him quite a lot. Hajime seems to care for him too, even when he's afraid and upset. It's not to the same degree as Nagito, mostly because of Nagito's threatening presence once he loses his filter, but Hajime does care for him and has enjoyed time with him. Their relationship can and has been healed after the killing game and he can actually have one of the healthier, if not healthiest, relationships in his life with Hajime.
(Also I say love because saying like doesn't feel right it doesn't express enough emotion and relationship as general relationship I don't care what you ship lmao)
I really do enjoy seeing fan works and such where his classmates, even if not the to the extent of Hajime's reciprocation, they genuinely care for him and treat him a lot better.
Anyways!! Just wanted to say with this reply some extra stuff I didn't before, some restatements, and the fact yup you're completely right!! Sorry I forgot to mention it in my original ramble post thanks so much anon! :)

Another concept for the "main character Shizuka AU". This one is based on the Doraemon story "Mirror World", in which Doraemon takes Nobita through a mirror leading to a "reverse world" populated by people who have opposite personalities to their main-universe counterparts. Reverse-World Nobita, for example, is a violent bully who is dreaded by the other children in the neighborhood.
So what is Reverse-World Shizuka like? The obvious route would be to simply make her "mean Shizuka". However, what led me to explore this concept is the fact that Reverse-World Shizuka is a canon character, though she only appears in a single panel in the manga, where she mistakes main-universe Nobita for Reverse-World Nobita and tells him to stay away for being mean.
Tumblr media
That's interesting, because at first glance that might sound more like something main-universe Shizuka would say, doesn't it? It's possible that Fujiko F. Fujio just didn't put much thought into the personalities of the Reverse-World characters other than alternate Nobita. Thinking about it though, there is some logic to Reverse-World Shizuka acting this way.
Main-universe Shizuka is very forgiving. Consider how she continues to treat Nobita kindly even after multiple occasions on which he deliberately manipulates her or invades her privacy, or how she maintains her friendships with Gian and Suneo despite knowing that they pick on others (and sometimes suffering from their bullying herself). She may get justifiably angry at her friends for these actions, but it is implied that she ultimately forgives them most of the time.
Maybe Reverse-World Shizuka is not so forgiving, and is quick to cut people off if they wrong her. That is the interpretation I've built off of, at least. What else have I come up with for Reverse-World Shizuka? Some of the obvious opposite traits from main-universe Shizuka are that she doesn't like bathing, isn't afraid of frogs, does poorly at school, and is extremely good at the violin (but dislikes playing it). She doesn't care much about following rules, and is a lot more likely than main-universe Shizuka to openly speak her mind, which means that she's often not easy to get along with. That being said, she tends to avoid direct confrontation, preferring to simply avoid those who bother her. She's fine with not having many friends, as she's a bit of a recluse who tends not to voluntarily help others without being asked. However, compared to main-universe Shizuka, it might actually be easier to persuade her into doing things that she really doesn't want to, though you can bet that she'll be grumbling all the way.
I've spilled more than enough ink on this for now, but a conversation between the two Shizukas might be an interesting scene to write someday.

"Based on some of the first draft snippets you shared on tumblr, I would like to give a preemptive (maybe presumptuous) shoutout to Luz on perhaps being the first person in this AU to ever hear new information and actually come to the correct conclusion of "Oh your mom is Fucking Horrible, actually, got it," on the first try. You go girl, you use that emotional intelligence."
^a bit from @itsfexy's VERY VERY VERY KIND ao3 comment.....
i'm posting this here because this bit of luz characterization is drawn from a canon moment!! and i want to talk about it!!
there's a scene in escaping expulsion when amity tells luz, "i'm sorry i didn't stand up to my mom [when she was ruining all of your lives]," and luz just says, "it's okay, i get it – you're scared of her."
that IMMEDIATELY became one of my top favorite lumity exchanges in the entire show, because of how thoroughly it subverted my expectations. what i Expected was for luz to be confused and hurt and upset with amity (but NOT angry or mean, i never expected anger or meanness). and for amity to then have to explain things to make her understand.
i think this would have been a completely reasonable emotional reaction from luz, and it would have been a fraught but delightful conflict to see play out, because i love angst. and drama.
BUT. they didn't do that.
instead they took it in a direction i did not predict at all!!
because luz understands. she trusts amity and she may occasionally be oblivious/toe-steppy/naive, but she can Also be very observant. she Knew amity was scared of odalia and didn't question it for a second. she Knew amity would have spoken up if she wasn't scared. luz didn't make amity explain herself or compound the guilt that amity was already feeling... she was just like. no, i know. it's okay. i love you and you are valid and i don't hate you even a little bit. i'm not afraid, though. brb i have to go get almost murdered by your parents real quick
so. spoiler alert, i guess, but i wanted to emulate that in the princess AU.
there are Significantly more fraught dynamics and conflicts and spikiness in this AU than in the canon, and at one point i WAS playing with the idea of a "HAVE you been lying to me??" conflict.
but... it's ultimately more interesting to me if luz clocks Exactly what's going on.
because she absolutely could and would! she trusts amity here, even if they don't have the same history that they did in the canonverse. she KNOWS what it's like to have an abusive parent.
perhaps most importantly of all, she Specifically Knows What It's Like to play a character you hate and to pretend to like your abusive parent's Blatant Atrocities just to survive.
luz knows what's happening here.
she's been there.
to that end, crafting the odalia conversation took a lot of careful editing: it needed to have enough context for luz to realize Just How Under-Duress amity was for the entirety of that interaction. AND it needed to be damning enough for amity to be Terrified that luz got the "you were using me the whole time??" impression instead.
anyway. i don't know if chapter four will actually be good once it's rewritten and edited and all that, but here's crossing my fingers. because this setup took.... Several Days..... of editing.... So It Better Pay Off!!!

Have persona 1 ship art AND thoughts! You just have to scroll down a bit…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have so many thoughts about these two ships not because of in game interactions but because i think too hard about the characters themselves and decided who they need to balance each other out. I will cry about them! Lemme run it down
HIDEKEI BABY!
Ok so I’m kind of a sucker for the dynamic where the characters annoy each other on purpose but ultimately trust and adore each other. But also I just think that Nanjo and Brown need each other.
Nanjo needs someone to help him take it easy because GOD being the heir of your shitty dad’s conglomerate must be so exhausting how does the boy do it. Plus I think that Nanjo would really appreciate the strength of Brown’s moral compass and want to protect others. Like that boy does not waver even if he’s making a stupid decision and honestly, kinda charming.
And Brown needs someone to just sit him down and say “be for fucking real.” But like in a supportive way. I want my little guy to not be afraid of being vulnerable and I think out of anyone Nanjo would be able to make him crack. Mostly because of that mutual feeling of loneliness and because if THIS hardass cares then damn it must be okay to bring down his walls a bit.
ERIMAKI 🥺🥺🥺
When I say that these two felt like they had more of a dynamic than either of them with Naoya I mean it. They both have such cynical views of themselves but think the world of the other! The tension with how both of them are jealous of the other is just… OUGH.
Erimaki is just such a visceral ship to me. I don’t know why, I get more feelings from it than I know how to put in words. I think it would be really hard for them to come to terms with their feelings.
Of course I don’t get to know a lot about how Maki feels in P2 era, but I like to think she’s gotten over her crush on Naoya. She hasn’t figured she has a thing for Eriko except little things like how beautiful she is. That would make Eriko’s side of things so hard. I like to think that maybe she has feelings for both Naoya and Maki at the same time. She’s already disgusted with how desperate for love she is from one person, but now there’s two people.
I just think it would be the most painful slow burn ever. When they figure it all out though I think they would be absolutely inseparable. Learning from each other, admiring each other but now it doesn’t have to be a secret. AAAAGH THEY MAKE ME FEEL INSANE.

CW: this post discusses my theory on who the traitor(s) might be for mwiii.
i didn’t want to be the one to say this but…
i think alejandro and, by extension, rudy and the rest of los vaqueros might be the traitors in mwiii.
alternatively, if they aren’t the main traitors, i think they would at least end up assisting in some way.
“omg how could you say that they are cute spicy bois they couldn’t possibly be the trai—,”
hush. i have my reasons.
after my 3rd time watching through the entire campaign this week—i can’t even count how many times i’ve sat through the 4 and 1/2 hour videos on youtube since the game came out—i think i’ve gathered sufficient evidence to support my theory.
buckle up, babes, it gets kinda wild.
note: this is probably all garbage and completely incorrect/all over the place, but i’ve hyper fixated on it for weeks so i just had to share it.
𖤐𖤐𖤐
laswell and alejandro seem to know each other quite well. where there is history, there could be (eventual) intent/motive. we don’t know how they know each other, but i wanted to point this out for anyone who might question why it could be possible for ale and the cowboys to turn.
Tumblr media
when ghost and soap first arrive in las almas and meet ale and rudy, rudy makes a comment in spanish along the lines of, “i am afraid of ghosts.” it might be a funny throw-away comment, but i always thought it was a bit weird considering the fact that ghost and soap were there to fight as allies. this, coupled with the fact that ale asks if ghost and soap could speak spanish after rudy says it, makes me think that rudy was trying to warn ale about the duo. i’ve always been interested in the fact that the special forces can send units out anywhere in the world, regardless of language barriers. maybe rudy assessed the two new-comers and decided that, while soap definitely didn’t speak the language, maybe ghost might know spanish. the warning might have been to let ale know not to say anything… untoward… even if it was in spanish. just in case. (this only applies if they’ve already been dirty dealing, but who knows? i sure don’t.)
Tumblr media
ale: “we love this place, and we will die fighting for it.” a bit more motive? served.
Tumblr media
soap asks ale where his family is during their mission to capture hassan. ale tells him that he “keeps that information a secret for their protection”. that’s all fine and good, but will play into my theory a bit later.
Tumblr media
how the heckity hell did alejandro manage to take down a guard and act as a cartel member in diego’s mansion so easily? he never even gave an explanation as to how he did it! as if “violently” can explain how he snuck to the perimeter of the mansion, got inside without notice, and no one questioned the new guy???? hello???
Tumblr media
when soap tells ale that el sin nombre is actually a woman named “valeria”, he pauses. i believe that he knew EXACTLY who soap was talking about, but hesitated because he couldn’t believe it was HER. when seeing her dragged onto the helo when she got captured, ale looks like he’s seen a ghost… and maybe he has. maybe he and valeria know each other a lot more intimately than simply serving in the forces together. maybe he and valeria are related in some way. now, this all kinda sounds crazy… until you realize how strangely “familiar” the vibe between the two is when they interact with each other. they way they argue during her first interrogation seems waaaay too intimate for two soldiers from different squads. and then ale tells valeria that she’s a “disgrace to the army… y tu hermanos no?” WHY DID HE BRING UP HER BROTHERS (as if he would know them) AND WHY WAS THAT LITTLE TIDBIT TACKED ON AT THE END IN SPANISH??
Tumblr media
maybe when he realizes that valeria cares about las almas just as much as him (enough to turn into a literal cartel leader and deal with terrorists to decrease hits on the drug trafficking trades that las almas would ultimately profit from) he can’t help but leave the interrogation room trembling with rage. because this DOES change everything. after all, he would die fighting for las almas… and the military certainly puts up enough red tape to make his mission difficult.
Tumblr media
i’m not leaving out rudy and the other vaqueros. the symbiotic relationship between the special forces, mexican army, and cartels that exist in and around las almas is turbulent, sure, but it seems to work just fine when people are willing to turn their heads and mind their own business. and maybe that’s the ultimate goal they are hoping to achieve to keep las almas from falling. after all, they’ve literally been force fed the reality of what happens when that symbiotic relationship isn’t checked, balanced, and maintained, and now they’re left to scrape bodies off the streets, return crying children to remaining family members (if any), and rebuild the city on top of the blood and other horrors that came to them at the hands of shepherd, graves, and the shadows. and, let’s be honest, rudy and los vaqueros are so utterly devoted to their colonel that i doubt they’d fall out of line if alejandro decided they needed to take matters into their own hands.
Tumblr media
at the end of 141’s time with los vaqueros, valeria states that she will be out of custody within 24 hours. she’s right for several reasons. first, there’s no physical evidence that could trace back to her involvement with hassan. two, if el sin nombre disappears, the special forces/mexican military will fall out of favor with the remaining citizens of las almas. three, i believe that any evidence that might have been found related to her involvement with hassan, the cartels, etc., will most definitely be expunged… since it’s super helpful to know someone who knows other someones in high places. plus, we know ale and the cowboys treat each other like family. if valeria IS family, how do you think they’ll go about treating her now that she’s in their possession?
Tumblr media
in all the time we see ghost and soap working with los vaqueros, it isn’t until they are leaving las almas that alejandro realizes that ghost could speak spanish THE ENTIRE TIME BUT CHOSE NOT TO. of course, if alejandro and los vaqueros are the traitors, this could mean that ghost could definitely know things he really shouldn’t if he eavesdropped on any of the conversations around him (he most definitely did). you know what they say, you gotta eliminate any and all witnesses… especially if that witness may have heard bits and pieces about a possible plot to defect from the rules and regulations of the military.
Tumblr media
…and that’s why i think ale and the cowboys just might turn into traitors in mwiii.
of course, this is just a theory.
a game theory. *rapid fire air horns*

Mikan Tsumiki VS Fluttershy [Danganronpa Survivor VS My Little Pony]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hifumi: Mikan Tsumiki, the not-so eloquent Ultimate Nurse...
Tumblr media
Leona: And Fluttershy, the not-so submissive Element of Kindness.
Hifumi: Kindness is compassion and love in perfect harmony. It is loving yourself enough to love those around you.
Leona: But despite their power, it seems these two clumsy, skittish, yet sweethearted companions are gonna need a little help with that...He's Hifumi, and I'm Leona!
Hifumi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, talents and skills, to see who will win a DEATH BATTLE!
Tumblr media
Leona: Back to standard procedure folks!
Hifumi: As we're already all familiar with by this point, Hope's Peak Academy is a school committed to assisting in the training of high school students who are at the top of their fields.
Leona: And as we mentioned before, when everyone at the academy thought their lives were set in stone, Tragedy struck! Literally
Hifumi: That of course, being the arrival of Junko Enoshima. Alongside her manipulation, scheming and casual feats of murder that she did for a bit of fun, her most notable feat of the Hope's Peak Tragedy was the brainwashing of Class 77, turning them into the Ultimate Despair, who then proceeded to wreak havoc on the world as we knew it.
Leona: Yeah, we've been over this...Though it is pretty sad. All of these guys were living such fruitful and happy lives before she came along...
Hifumi: Well, I wouldn't say ALL of them...Truth be told, aside from the likes of Izuru Kamukura and Nagito Komaeda, there is one member of the Ultimate Despair who stands out more than others...That would of course, be Mrs Mikan Tsumiki.
Tumblr media
Leona: Huh...She seems pretty meek...
Hifumi: Well, that would be...HALF right. Mrs Tsumiki's early years were difficult, and that's putting it VERY lightly! She suffered from emotional and physical abuse at the hands of both family members and people she knew outside of that. She has talked about getting burned by cigarettes, getting smeared with mud, and getting splashed with water, among other things. The bullies would make her pay for their debts, make her eat bugs and make her act like animals, beat her up, cut her hair, draw on her, and use her as a dart target. At times, she was even told to undress.
Leona: Jesus fucking Christ! Those people are MONSTERS!
Hifumi: It's actually a lot worse than you may think. Because of the things she was subjected to, Mrs Tsumiki became so twisted, she began to see abuse as AFFECTION. Consequently, she turned into a very shy individual who believed that receiving negative treatment was preferable to receiving none at all.
Leona: What the FUCK man! Jesus, how can humanity be so fucking cruel! What did SHE do!?
Hifumi: So, it's no wonder that she ended up falling to Despair first. She was the first victim of the brainwashing, serving as Junko's guinie pig, and she took to it VERY well...Better than Junko could have dreamed.
Leona: I'm afraid to ask what you mean by that...
Hifumi: It's unclear what happened or why, but Mrs Tsumiki became sickeningly obsessed with Junko Enoshima. Like Harley Quinn with the Joker, she subjected her body and soul for the sake of Junko, and to causing as much despair as possible in her name. Her obsession was so strong, it broke through the memory suppression of the Neo World Program when she and her classmates were trapped in it, and following Junko's death, not only did she try to copulate with her corpse, but she cut out her own uterus and replaced it with the corpse's
Leona: I'm gonna be sick...!
Leona does indeed go a shade of green and turn around to vomit in the corner.
Hifumi: I had figured you already knew this...I apologize.
Leona: Can we like...maybe take a step back? We're moving through this a bit too fast...
Hifumi: Right, right, of course...Mikan Tsumiki learned how to take care of herself at a very young age because no one was there to tend to her wounds. As her proficiency in this area increased, she developed an interest in nursing and was eventually brought on as the Ultimate Nurse by Hope's Peak Academy.
Leona: Because of this, she's very intellectual about medicine and healthcare, and on multiple occasions, she's been able to save her allies even when they're basically as good as dead. She also knows exactly how much anesthetic and painkillers to exhibit to a person to knock them out without killing them.
Hifumi: Which is extremely important to her own unique way of fighting and taking down her opponents, because believe it or not, past all the emotional damage and timid nature, this skittish nurse lady is...kind of a badass!
Tumblr media
Leona: Mikan seems to give this idea that she's a harmless, good-for-nothing girl who couldn't hurt a fly, but NONE of this is true. If you let your guard down around her or find yourself at the end of her anger, you might find yourself being thoroughly PENATRATED by her MASSIVE...! GIRTHY...! Syringe!
Hifumi: You had me for a minute.
Leona: Given the shit this chick does, I think the dirty jokes are appropriate here.
Hifumi: In all seriousness, Mrs Tsumiki has used this syringe a few times, most notably during her confrontations with Future Foundation's Ultimate Elite Task Force, specifically the Ultimate Nail Artist, as well as Nagito Komaeda.
Leona: Why does EVERYONE want to fight Nagito Komaeda!?
Hifumi: It's not like we want to, it's just that he's VERY punchable. But the difference between her and the others whom have fought him is...believe it or not, she was able to take him out.
Leona: SHE DID!?
Hifumi: Well...KIND of...She was able to run circles around him and trap him, applying her skills with stealth and smarts to get the victory, but ultimately knocked him out by distributing repeated shots of sleeping drugs to him. This only took effect AFTER his fight with Izuru Kamukura though, so it's more like she came and got the last hit in when he was already on low health. Doesn't take away from her other achievements though.
Leona: The syringe can be used to scratch and stab a bitch with it's needle, but it also holds what is basically a tub of anesthetic medicine. If she impales someone with it and gets all up inside them, she can let her juices flow through them, and this she-devil's juices are DEADLY, even more than usual.
Hifumi: You need to stop.
Leona: If I didn't say it, you would!
Hifumi: Dirty jokes aside, anesthesia and sleeping drugs are a powerful weapon when used right, especially in the hands of someone experienced giving shots to people. Distributing enough of this can have some heavy side effects. Agitation, disorientation, lightheadedness, somnolence, dysphoria, changes in hearing, tinnitus, perioral numbness, metallic taste, and dysarthria can all result from an overdose. These warning signs and symptoms can develop into seizures, respiratory arrest, coma, and ultimately death if they are not properly identified and treated quickly.
Leona: But that thing sure looks big dumb and heavy. Wielding it can't be easy. How much does it weigh exactly?
Hifumi: Oh, about 150 lbs.
Leona: Oh, ok-WHAT!?
Hifumi: Not only is the syringe pretty hefty on it's own, but Mrs Tsumiki has stated that the syringe can hold up to 18 gallons of sedative liquid inside it. The density of the anesthetic is obviously much thicker than water, but that would at least put it to at least 150 lbs, which for reference, is about the weight of a dirt bike.
Leona: And she's just lugging that thing around no problem?
Hifumi: Obviously, Mrs Tsumiki isn't something like Mr Nidai, who could probably wield the heavy thing like a spear if he wanted, so her attacks using her trademark weapon are usually a little sluggish, so assuming you can outspeed her, it won't be much of a problem. However, if a hit DOES land, kiss your ass and your consciousness goodbye!
Leona: And even if it doesn't, Mikan's got ways around this problem...In the form of OTHER weapons! MORE NEEDLES!
Hifumi: She is indeed a Trypanophobists nightmare, as well as a nightmare for everyone else. On top of having a giant syringe as her main weapon, Mrs Tsumiki has also been known to employ smaller syringes as weapons, which she uses kind of like throwing knives. The syringes have a unique property in that the moment they pierce flesh, they apply whatever liquid is inside them, which again, is usually sedative anesthetic, albeit on a much smaller level than her main weapon.
Leona: They also sometimes contain painkillers or other sorts of medicines, usually created with Seiko Kimura's help, that Mikan can use on herself and her allies to pep them up. And she's got killer accuracy too. Plus, she has a surgical scalpel on hand for an emergency. It's honestly kinda weird...I wouldn't expect such feats from someone this emotionally unstable and...honestly, clumsy.
Hifumi: Yes, it's a well known fact that Mrs Tsumiki has a tendency to accidentally fall over in compromising positions, however, though she doesn't always outright admit it, it's implied that this was all an act. Due to her diseased mind, Mrs Tsumiki didn't become a nurse mainly out of her desire to help people, but actually upon recognizing the likelihood that she could feel in control of sick and injured people. After all, people who are sick are, by default, weaker, and they would have to rely entirely on her since they were the weaker party, and she would be in charge of their lives.
Leona: That's...kinda fucked up actually, but hey, I get it. She's seen some shit.
Hifumi: Fortunately or unfortunately, this endless abuse didn't stop even as an Ultimate Despair. Though she gave her life and everything else to Junko's cause, and claimed COUNTLESS victims, possessing one of the highest kill counts among the remnants, she was eventually captured and placed into the Neo World Program by the Future Foundation, which was then taken over by Junko's AI, and she was subsequently forced into the second killing game.
Leona: During which, her abilities and own physical capabilities really shone through. As we said already, Mikan was the only one who was able to remember her life as a Remnant of Despair, likely because her love for Junko was so insanely strong. Shortly after Monokuma hit the group with the Despair Disease, Mikan concocted and pulled off a plan of her own, which resulted in the deaths of BOTH Ibuki Mioda and Hiyoko Saionji. Speaking of which, let's talk about that quickly!
Hifumi: Nobody looks upon this moment favorably, let's be honest, but to be frank, this plan was BEYOND impressive in terms of how it's pulled off! Namely because of the amount of speed and timing that would be needed to pull it off.
Leona: We don't really need to go into specifics, but to summarize, during her plan, Mikan ran from the hospital to the music venue, smashed a bunch of electronics, changed the temperature of the room, tore off the wallpaper hiding Hiyoko's body, glued the door shut and runs all the way to the motel just as Hajime is meeting up with his friends. Based on the relative amount of time it takes for Hajime to meet up with the others, Mikan's window of opportunity was a minute at least and 2 minutes at most.
Hifumi: Which is frankly an almost impossible feat of strength and power coming from someone like her, but we can talk more about that in a minute. Following the conclusion of the Killing Game, Mrs Tsumiki was one of the first people to be brought back to life in the other side, but unfortunately...the influence of the disease remained.
Leona: Perhaps it's because Mikan technically got two doses of the brainwashing, or because she remembered during the Killing Game; but either way, Mikan came back still as a remnant self, and caused a lot of trouble, especially since the object of her affection didn't remain in the world any longer, with both her real and AI self having been wiped out. Fortunately, Hajime and the others weren't about to give up on her, even after everything she did.
Hifumi: Ironically, Ibuki Mioda, a fellow Remnant, was the primary defender of Mikan's second chance, despite being one of her victims in the Killing Game. She assisted Mikan in recovering from the trauma and returning to a generally stable state of mind. And there was a lot of trauma to work through, in case we didn't convey that already.
Leona: I guess in the end, all she ever needed to get over her damaged body and mind was a healthy relationship. And she got MORE than that when it came to Ibuki! Turns out our loveable nurse isn't TOTALLY terrible with women! Then again, as simple as I am, I wouldn't be quick to enter a loving relationship with a girl who murdered me once before...
Hifumi: Mrs Tsumiki went on to rebuild her classmates' faith and trust in her, helping the Future Foundation with medical needs and healing people this time for the right reasons. Even though she is still emotionally hesitant and timid most of the time, she makes an effort to apply herself in the fight for good and works on growing rather than letting her past or her flaws define her. With all that being said...there WERE some problems.
Tumblr media
Leona: Yeah, it turns out that even after restoring her honor, she still felt an itch...a craving for Despair...But she tried her best to suppress it for the sake of her classmates around her. She would never have dreamed of hurting her friends anymore, but she continued to relish the thoughts, and hated herself for it. However, she eventually learned to follow the old saying "If you can't lose it? USE it!"
Hifumi: I think you're misremembering "If you can't beat them, join them," but I suppose that works better here. Whenever things are at their bleakest, Mikan Tsumiki learned to instead of giving in to her lingering psychopathic tendencies, she would WEAPONIZE them.
Leona: We in the analysis business give this idea a neat little name of "DESPAIR RAGE!" You know that meme of the doctor with the gun? "I'm a healer, but..." that one? Yeah, that's Mikan when she's in this state.
Hifumi: Not only does she become inherently more violent and destructive in this state, throwing most of her morality and conscious decisions to the wind, but Mrs Tsumiki also becomes more sociopathic, sometimes outright toying with her enemies, like she did to Nagito Komaeda when she had him at her mercy. While the state doesn't necessarily make her STRONGER, it does stop her from holding back in any way, shape or regard.
Leona: On that note, to close out this segment, why don't we quickly go over some statistical feats? We've already established that she's really strong and fast, but despite her surprising strength, Mikan has a hard time applying that to fights. She IS a medic after all, not really a soldier, and applies most of her skills to healing wounds instead of causing them, unless it's as a last resort.
Hifumi: Which is why when Mrs Tsumiki is faced with combat, she chooses to less rely on strength and durability, and opts more for speed and smarts. Like hiding in the shadows to land a sneak attack, or setting and luring her opponents into traps. It helps that she seems to have an innate stealth ability and keen strategical prowess.
Leona: I guess when you're not capable of setting off nukes by taking a shit, this is the best you can do. Speaking of traps and durability though, I'd have to say her most impressive feat is the fact that she fought Nagito Komaeda in such a confined environment! And when he was an Ultimate Hope too!
Hifumi: I'm inclined to agree. Do you remember how we mentioned in our first matchup that Makoto Naegi was able to survive being thrown through a solid ceiling and walls? Well, during her fight against Komaeda, Mrs Tsumiki did the same thing! SEVERAL MORE TIMES IN QUICK SUCCESSION in fact!
Leona: As a reminder, we calculated in the third episode with Akane that the amount of energy required to send someone crashing through a solid stone wall 31.572 grams of TNT, since Akane herself did it with Nagito earlier in the same arc. Mikan's feat is significantly less impressive since the number of walls she was thrown through were thinner and fewer, but it's still an unbelievable feat for someone to survive, and that's not even mentioning what happened afterwards!
Hifumi: Mrs Tsumiki's penultimate plan was to keep Mr Komaeda distracted until the Future Foundation had enough time to blow up the building with the both of them inside it. This ultimately didn't do much in terms of stopping Komaeda, but the entire buildings collapse didn't kill HER either! She escaped with several wounds and a completely mangled foot, but with her life.
Leona: So all in all, just remember that if you ever tick this seemingly timid and sweet caretaker off, you may find yourself in a state worse than death. An apple a day keeps the doctor at bay!
Tumblr media
Leona: We're about to get into some serious shit with this one, and no, I'm not kidding, so hold your horses.
Hifumi: Was that a pun, or did you say that on accident?
Leona: Welcome to the land of Equestria, a magical kingdom full of rolling plains, beautiful mountain ranges, and rainbows! A place where you just can't help but be happy! One of the places you'll find in this magical realm is Cloudsdale! Home of the Pegasuses...or Pegasi...or...Pegacivilians...Take your pick.
Hifumi: While Unicorns are known for their magic, and Earth Ponies are known for their connection to nature, their ability to fly, walk on clouds, and manipulate the weather are what makes the Pegasi unique.
Leona: Here's some juicy lore for you folks out there who stupidly thought that this was a simple toy franchise for little girls - The Pegasi are portrayed as a militaristic, organized tribe with a well-established fighting force and a cloud home filled with war-themed monuments. Members of the original Pegasus Tribe were in charge of weather control in exchange for food harvested by Earth ponies. To sum it up, the Pegasissies in the world of My Little Pony are kind of like Saiyan's in Dragon Ball, or at least a similar premise. Yes, really.
Hifumi: And just like it was with the Saiyan's and Son Goku, there's one Pony in particular who doesn't quite fit in line with the legacy of their bloodline. We can certainly see the warrior influence in Rainbow Dash, a previous DB competitor, but far from it in her best friend...The peace-loving, hug-mongering Fluttershy.
Tumblr media
Leona: As someone who, to probably no one's surprised, is obsessed with MLP, allow me to take over most of the historical analysis here. As Hifumi just mentioned, Fluttershy, even as a filly, was not like the other Pegasusans in Cloudsdale. In fact, she was quite a notorious outcast who didn't fit in, nor get along with many of the others around her.
Hifumi: Mainly due to how she had a taller, ganglier body and larger wings, but also wasn't a very good flier, despite that basically being the Pegasi's thing. It would kind of be like if someone made fun of you for not being able to walk properly because you have a bonky leg, which...Yeah, that's...
Leona: Yeah, kinda fucked up, right!? My Little Pony addresses ABLEISM, and very early on in fact! She was given the rather disgraceful nickname of "Klutzershy" from the colts because of her clumsy nature, but a young Rainbow Dash stood up for her. She challenged Fluttershy's bullies to a race, but then...things went a LITTLE wrong...
Hifumi: During the race, Rainbow Dash and the bullies accidentally knocked Fluttershy off the clouds and down to the ground below, but she was conveniently saved by landing on a group of butterflies. However, this was the first time she had ever been outside of Cloudsdale and was unfamiliar with the world around her, and Fluttershy was overwhelmed by seeing the beauty of the animals and the greenery for the first time.
Leona: So much so that she started to sing a merry tune. You know, as you do. But a few moments later, Rainbow Dash, who had been frightened by Fluttershy's fall, burst in so fast to find her, she created a sonic rainboom that startled the animals and scared them into hiding.
Hifumi: Fortunately, it was here that Fluttershy discovered her true calling in life. She might not have been as fast, or as brave as the rest of her people, but learned that she had a gift for talking to animals, after managing to quiet the critters down after the scare. Moments later, she earned her Cutie Mark.
Leona: And no, that's not a euphemism for something. The cutie marks are obtained when Ponies discover a unique characteristic that sets themselves apart from others. Effectively, if she existed in our universe, this would the the symbol of Fluttershy's Ultimate Talent.
Hifumi: With time, Fluttershy established herself as one of the members of the Guardians of Friendship, or as the community calls them, the Mane 6, alongside Rainbow Dash, as well as Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. Unfortunately, even once she was a fully grown adult pony, her timidness and shyness didn't go away. I mean, it's in her name obviously, but she's typically very pacifistic and somewhat cowardly, possesses severe stage fright, and she was so shy in the first half of the series that she could hardly speak in front of strangers and that she was unable to say "no" when asked to do something that she didn't want to do.
Leona: But again, that's what makes it so weird and baffling, because just like her opponent, this "crouching moron" is a "hidden badass!"
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Even early on in the series when it's most sold that Fluttershy is weaker than most Pegasi around her, it's also proven to NOT be the case. It may mainly be because of her lack of confidence in herself, but at her peak when she throws this to the wayside, usually out of fear or anger, she has the potential to be stronger AND faster than even Rainbow Dash.
Leona: She WAS able to outfly Rainbow Dash while towing two other ponies in a hot-air balloon, and kept up with her when creating a tornado. Something that the Pegasussusamongus do as part of their rituals in Equastria, and even though she's noted to not be as good at base level as the rest of her people, she SHOULD realistically be capable of this feat at her full potential.
Hifumi: You did that one on purpose...
Leona: Maybe I did, maybe I didn't?
Hifumi: You DEFINITELY did!
Leona: She's also ran the entire Running of the Leaves, a very intense running race, without showing a notable decrease in stamina, and her ability to empathize and communicate with animals has helped both herself and her allies in tight jams before. However, on top of all these wacky powers and abilities, there's one that really stands out that only she possesses...THE STARE! DUN DUN DUUUUUN!
Hifumi: The Stare is, in short, Fluttershy glaring at you angrily like a disappointed mother, and she usually uses this look on misbehaving animals. While this doesn't sound THAT intimidating coming from a soft-spoken pony like her, it's proven to ACTUALLY be quite powerful, so much so that Fluttershy openly says she only employs it in life or death situations, or to maintain order. It's so effective, she was able to use it to tame a cockatrice!
Leona: Kind of like Medusa, staring a cockatrice in the eyes turns you to stone, which it did once to Twilight Sparkle. However, Fluttershy employed the stare on it, looking it dead in the eyes, and actually got it to RELENT, causing her own petrification to be reversed, as well as Twilight's.
Hifumi: However, despite how powerful this "Stare" really is, it has it's limitations. Namely, it's shown not working on powerful and/or chaotic and unrelenting creatures like the infamous Discord, who merely laughed in Fluttershy's face when she tried to use it on him. It also seems to have absolutely no effect on more aggressive creatures like Flash Bees.
Leona: But even amongst the incredible feats of the Pegusfring's, and her own powers like the stare, Fluttershy's main source of power comes from her own special magic. The Mane 6 are capable of wielding these special artifacts called the Elements of Harmony.
Hifumi: In the My Little Pony universe, the Elements of Harmony are commonly described as "the most powerful magic known to Ponydom." Thousands of years ago, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna discovered them and removed them from the Tree of Harmony. Every artifact symbolizes a facet of friendship and becomes active only when the wielder possesses the matching trait and when all six are used together.
Leona: That being said, Twilight Sparkle was able to use the Element of Magic by herself in Equestria Girls, so the latter part isn't exactly true. In the case of Fluttershy though, she wields the Element of Kindness!
Hifumi: The Kindness Element is represented by a pink butterfly-shaped gem set in a gold necklace, resembling the butterflies in Fluttershy's Cutie Mark. Though it's only really ever used as a last resort, using the Element of Kindness, Fluttershy can restore peace and balance in moments of complete and total anarchy. Aside from granting Fluttershy special magical powers like generating forcefields, the Element can be used to banish different villains to different planes of existence, like the moon, Tartarus, or limbo, or it can be used to imprison something, like when it was used to imprison Discord in stone.
Leona: Yeah, Tartarus is a thing in My Little Pony. I told you, the lore fucks! And if you didn't think THAT was crazy, the Element can also summon a rainbow tornado that no matter what, completely engulfs its target! If they are evil or opposed to harmony, this tornado will completely change their morality and they will show remorse for their actions!
Hifumi: A very fitting power for someone like Fluttershy, who even without the Element's power is already kindness and sympathy incarnate? Do you remember how we brought up Discord? He's a Draconequus who is LITERALLY the physical embodiment of disharmony and chaos, and was originally one of the ponies most terrifying foes.
Leona: Emphasis on "originally," because thanks to Fluttershy's kindness and her willingness to see the good in people; even after he went on to cause even more trouble for her and her friends, she was not only able to REFORM Discord of his evil ways, but became his best buddy! And potential love interest as a lot of the fandom will tell you, but that's a discussion for another time. So yeah, if anyone's gonna wield the Element of Kindness, it's Fluttershy!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: To make things even worse for any enemy that might have the gall to underestimate her, Fluttershy is also capable of boosting her power through the last means you might expect from MLP, but then again, that seems to be a running theme...Transformation!
Leona: We could be here all day talking about this but to sum it up, there's basically this tree that has a chest, and unlocking this chest unleashes this ancient power inside it that allows the Mane 6, including Fluttershy, to take on the POWER OF THE RAINBOWS! Or...Rainbow Power as it's called.
Hifumi: The Rainbow Power is only briefly seen, but following the opening of the chest, Fluttershy and her companions all gained more magic and underwent physical transformations. The Mane 6 used this power to defeat Lord Tirek, after he stole Twilight's powers, along with the magic of the entire population of Equestria! And that includes, Celestia, Luna and Discord's power!
Leona: The Rainbow Power and transformation bestows Fluttershy with all the same powers as the Element of Kindness tenfold! When she and her friends used it following the overpowered Tirek's rampage, she returned the stolen flight, strength, and magic back to the ponies of Equestria, even the Alicorns, and it also gives her powers like unlimited flight, powerful forcefield creation, summoning a gigantic spiritual Alicorn to aid in battle, and even increased Banishment powers like when she sent Tiren back to Tartarus with it.
Hifumi: And to top it all off, that's not the only transformation that Fluttershy possesses. She's also capable of taking on her own unique, and honestly rather deadly form...the Flutterbat!
Leona: So not only is Fluttershy at her peak a weather controller, multiversal goddess and the living embodiment of the concept of Kindness, she's also a FUCKING VAMPIRE! MY LITTLE PONY EVERYBODY!
Hifumi: To be more specific, Fluttershy became a vampire fruit bat-pony hybrid when Twilight unintentionally transferred the vampire fruit bats' desires to her. Her cutie mark transforms into three pink bats, and she gets fangs, bat wings, red eyes, and bat-like ears. She was able to outmaneuver the other ponies in the air with ease while squeezing the juice from apples and spitting out their seeds in this form.
Leona: So think a vampire that sucks on apple juice instead of blood. Twilight eventually managed to restore her back to normal, but at the end of the episode, Fluttershy retained a small fang, and later took the form of Flutterbat again to help Princess Luna defeat the Tantabus.
Hifumi: All in all, there's a LOT to Fluttershy than meets the eye, and thinking she's an easy target is a recipe for one's downfall. She has so forcefully bucked the back ends of two garbage wagonloads that they have flipped over to the vertical position and back again, skillfully wrestled a bear while trying to give it a massage, and withstood an attack from Sunset Shimmer when she herself was using the Element of Magic.
Leona: In one episode, she and Bulk Biceps, a very muscular Pegasoo, collided into a mountainside with such force that an indent was formed, and Fluttershy was crushed beneath Bulk's larger body. She is stuck on him when he flies off, but she appears surprised rather than pained, and in the following scenes, she is perfectly fine! She's also successfully defended herself against Iron Will, a really buff minotaur dude, fought and overpowered Cozy Glow for a time, stood up to a giant dragon despite her innate fear of them, and fought an army of Changelings, insect-like beings who feed off the love of others to gain power for their own.
Hifumi: Fluttershy may easily lose her cool when she's angered, and she may be cripplingly afraid of many things, but there's one indisputable fact about her. She's a VALID and DESERVING member of the Mane 6, and will pull her weight when she needs to, no matter what comes her way.

Hifumi: Alright, the combatants are set! We've run the data through all possibilities!
Leona: IT'S TIME FOR A DEEAAATH BAAATTLLLLLLEEE!

The scene opens to into a peaceful setting within the middle of a quiet orchard on a sunny day in Equestria. The birds are singing, the animals are casually playing around.
This peace however, is interrupted by a terrified scream, as Mikan Tsumiki comes bursting into the clearing, crying and panicked, literally pulling her hair out.
Mikan: Where am I!? What's going on!? WHERE AM I!? WHAT'S GOING ON!?
Freaked out and scared at having randomly ended up in this strange and unfamiliar location, Mikan's mental state is rapidly crumbling, and the animals around her run for safety, feeling  threatened by her frankly overwhelming presence.
Meanwhile, not too far away, several more animals gather around a yellow and pink pony, tending to them and singing to them while doing so.
Fluttershy: ♪ I like the quiet, I like the calm...To turn it up, to sing along...I'm not just shy...Look close, and you will see...There's so much more to♪ -HUH!?
Fluttershy's soothing melody is swiftly interrupted as the animals cries from beyond the shrubbery grow closer. She lifts her head and sees several critters scurry from the bushes, followed by a clumsy, stumbling, purple-haired nurse, who trips over the branches and lands on her face. She quickly lifts her head to see Fluttershy staring back at her with astonishment.
Fluttershy: A human...!?
Mikan: KYAGH!? A-A t-t-talking horse!?
Fluttershy: How did you get here!? A-And why are you scaring the precious little animals away!?
Mikan: Wh-What!? No, no, no! Th-That's not what I
*CRUNCH!*
Fluttershy: HEEE!?
Mikan: EEEP!
Fluttershy, the animals and even Mikan herself gasp in horror, as Mikan gets to her feet and accidentally steps forward on top of a small mouse. The mouse squeaks in pain as it's crushed beneath her foot.
Fluttershy: Oh no! H-Hold on! I can help-!
*WHOOOSH!*
Mikan: AAGGGGH I'm SORRRYYYYY!
*SMACK!*
Fluttershy: GUGH!
Mikan: Agh...TCH!
Mistaking her approach for her trying to avenge the creature, Mikan fends Fluttershy off by grabbing her syringe from behind her back and swatting her away with it when she flies in to supposedly attack. Mikan looks back and forth between her weapon and her now opponent, her expression darkening as she realizes it's far too late for peaceful negotiations.
Though Fluttershy seems hesitant, she agrees to the duel regardless. With the exception of one deer who quickly grabs the poor mouse's body first, the rest of the animals quickly scarper, leaving the area open, as the fight begins!
youtube
Though initially trying to go in for the first blow, Fluttershy starts the fight by staying on the defensive. Mikan hoists her giant syringe up and takes some hefty swings. Though even in a panicked and confused state, Fluttershy easily avoids them.
*SHUNK!*
Fluttershy: KUGH!
Mikan: HUAGH!
*POW!*
Fluttershy: Haah...! U-Uwagh...Ngh...CHAGH!
Mikan: OOF!
When Mikan eventually gets a hit in while Fluttershy is at her most vulnerable, he punches the plunger to inject Fluttershy with the viscous anesthetic fluid inside. Fluttershy manages to break free just in time, and despite feeling lightheaded due to the anesthetic's effects, she counterattacks by using her front hooves to kick Mikan.
Fluttershy takes a moment while she has breathing room to check her wound. Seeing that she's slightly bleeding, she quickly wipes the wound with her hoof as Mikan recovers from her previous attack.
Mikan: What is going on...!? A-Am I hallucinating!? Is this some kind of dream...!?
Fluttershy notices that Mikan is panicking and in this moment, takes some sympathy on her.
Fluttershy: Hey, um...It occurs to me that we...may have jumped to conclusions before...You don't have to be so scared-
Mikan: N-No! GET AWAY FROM ME!
Mikan pulls out a bunch of smaller throwing syringes from her apron. Crying her eyes out in fear, she throws a barrage of them at Fluttershy, trying to turn the Pegasus into a pincushion.
Fluttershy: EEK!
Fluttershy's eyes widen as she sees these needles incoming, and she quickly rolls to the side and dashes out of the way. She flies forward, but looks back, worried that the needles might hit any of the animals.
Fortunately, they collide with the trunk of a thick tree and get stuck. Unfortunately, Fluttershy, not looking where she's going, bumps into Mikan. The two clatter to the floor, the latter in a rather compromising position that she quickly covers up.
Mikan: KYAAGH!
Fluttershy: Oh, sorry! I'm so sorry!
Mikan: No, that was my-Ugh...It's ok...Hold on, let me-
Fluttershy: N-No, let me get this for-OOF! My, this is REALLY heavy!
Mikan: No, no, I've got it! Thank you though...
Fluttershy: Sorry, I wasn't looking!
Mikan: No, seriously, thank you!
Fluttershy: Anytime!
Mikan & Fluttershy: Huh? Wait...Oh, DANGIT!
After a brief distraction, in which Fluttershy helps Mikan to her feet and tries to hand her back her primary weapon, the two forget that they're supposed to be fighting and cuss themselves out for it. Mikan takes the first strike, almost pinning Fluttershy to the ground with her heavy weapon before the Pegasus shoves her backwards.
*WHOOSH!*
Mikan: Huh!? WAH-!?
*CRACK!*
Mikan: GUAAAGGH!
*SLAM!*
Mikan: OHOUGH!
Fluttershy: HEEEH!
In quick succession, Fluttershy darts between Mikan's legs, kicks her square in the back from behind, grabs her legs and pins her to the ground, similarly to how she does when she's massaging bears, though this is done with the intention of holding Mikan still on the ground.
Fluttershy: Please, just listen to me! I'm sorry I scared you! We don't have to be fighting like this!
Mikan: Haah...! Haaah...! Haaaah...! NRGH!
Fluttershy: YOWCH!
Fluttershy's wishes for peace aren't granted. Mikan gets Fluttershy off of her by grabbing another small needle and stabbing her in the ankle, injecting more of the fluid. Mikan throws Fluttershy off of her, grabs her big weapon, and dives into the trees.
Fluttershy: Wait...! C-Come back...!
Fluttershy calls after her, but the anesthetic makes her even more dizzy, and she's unable to see straight for a moment. Mikan on the other hand, hides behind a rather thick tree trunk in a darker part of the orchard, cradling her body and starting to hyperventilate.
Mikan: What do I do...!? What do I do...!? I don't even know where I am and I...I...!
You hurt them...
Mikan: Geh!?
It never ends...You hurt everybody...
Mikan: Stop...!
She'll kill you...
Mikan: No, no...!
She should...
Mikan: Grrgh...!
Die, you piece of shit...!
Mikan: Forgive me...! Please...forgive me...! I...
She slowly rises to her feet. She then slowly lifts her head, her expression having changed dramatically. The tears stop flowing, her lips stop quivering, she holds her syringe with a tight grip, and her eyes become swirled with layers and layers of anguish and darkness.
Mikan: I won't stop...until you FORGIVE ME!
Fluttershy: Please, c-come out...! I can help you...!
Fluttershy stirs as she suddenly hears the sound of something fast through the leaves behind her. She quickly turns around, but only sees traces of something that was there. She hears the same sound again and turns again, seeing the same thing.
Fluttershy: Human...? Wh-Where are you...!?
Mikan: Here...!
Fluttershy: HUH!?
*SHUUNK!*
Fluttershy: GHAAAAGH!
Fluttershy screams in agony as without a word of warning, besides Mikan's sadistic teasing, she feels the incredibly sharp pang of the giant needle in the back of her body! Though being restrained, Fluttershy turns her head enough to see that Mikan's timid demeanor has gone, and now the look in her eyes bares naught but a despairful rage.
Mikan: Heeheheheheheh! KYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAGH!
Fluttershy: OOPH! RRGGGH!
Mikan: Heeeehehh...Hehehehhehehhheeegh...!
Mikan grabs Fluttershy by her jaw with one hand, holding onto the pony tightly as she uses her other to pump her full of the drugs in her weapon. Fluttershy's vision slowly begins to go dark, and the more the anesthetic enters her system, the weaker she gradually becomes, allowing Mikan to dominate her; baring a sadistic and perverse smile all the while.
Mikan then, to add insult to the very painful injury, kicks Fluttershy onto the ground and bounces off her into the air. While airborne, she once again reaches into her apron and produces several more syringes, which she holds between her fingers. She smiles down at Fluttershy, sticking out her tongue, sweating, and with a face-wide blush of ecstacy.
Mikan: Here's your PRESCRIPTION!
*SHUNK!* *SHUNK!* *SHUNK SHUNK* *SHUNNKKK!*
Fluttershy: KYAAAAAAAAAAAGGH!
The pain is agonizing! Fluttershy is injected with multiple sharp objects all over her body, pumping her full of drugs and rendering her nearly incapacitated and in immense pain, despite the needles causing little bleeding. She begins to lose sensation in her legs and her vision begins to warp. Mikan lands, picks up her enormous syringe, and moves slowly toward the Pegasus, raising the needle above her head for the final blow. All Fluttershy can do is crawl forward helplessly.
Fluttershy: No...Please...d-don't...! Huh?
Though her vision is still shaky, Fluttershy looks forward and meets eyes with a lone fruit bat, which is passing through, unaware of what's really going on with the situation and just looking for apples to eat in the orchard.
The bat glares into her eyes, and despite her agony, something stirs within Fluttershy, and her eyes widen, only to morph into an enraged and deranged frown as she feels her body begin to change...! Meanwhile, Mikan finally lets her chunky syringe fall down towards her head!
Mikan: DIE!
However, much to Mikan's surprise, as soon as she brings the needle down on Fluttershy, the pony disappears. This time, it's HER turn to be surprised when she senses a presence behind her...!
Flutterbat: *HIISSSS*
Mikan: GUAGH! GAGH! *SPLUTTER!*
Fluttershy, now FlutterBAT, smacks Mikan with her now hefty tail, sending her crashing into another tree trunk. Mikan lazily crawls to her feet and glares back at her attacker, who menacingly hangs upside down from a tree branch sucking on an apple.
Mikan: Filthy fucking rabies infested CREATURE!
Flutterbat: *SCREEEECCH!*
Mikan yells these enraged words out while hoisting her syringe over her shoulder before sprinting back into the fray. Similarly, Flutterbat drops from her perch and flies toward the Ultimate Nurse like small plane.
The sheer force of Flutterbat's wings almost knocks Mikan over, but she manages to stand and stabs Fluttershy with her syringe once more. This time, though, she sees that it does much less to slow Fluttershy down.
Mikan: What in the hell ARE you, freak!?
Flutterbat: *SCREEEECCH!*
Flutterbat, naturally, has nothing to say in response, and Mikan's frustration at not being able to gain the upper hand over her opponent grows. But Flutterbat also has trouble dealing Mikan any significant damage. She attempts to bite Mikan in retaliation, but the nurse dodges it and kicks her out of the way, only to have a gust of wind throw her back in turn.
Flutterbat: *HIISSSS*
Mikan: KYRRAAAAAGGH!
Mikan and Flutterbat trade violent blows, with Mikan using her syringe to hit Flutterbat and the former using her tail, sending each other flying back into the trees.
Flutterbat: Agh...Ngh...Hm?
Mikan: Haah...Hagh...HRGH! Huuh! Huuh! Huuh!
The blow into the tree has an interesting effect on Flutterbat as the transformation and continued fighting frees her of the initial effects of Mikan's drug-induced lunacy, making her vaguely come to her senses. When the pony sees the Nurse hyperventilating, clearly in a state of a panic attack, her reason comes back to her.
With it, Flutterbat drops out of her transformation and becomes Fluttershy again. Mikan's panic attack leaves her open to another blow, but Fluttershy refrains.
Before she can do or say anything, the animals from earlier slowly poke their heads out from the bushes, sensing a break in the fighting. Among them, Fluttershy sees the mouse Mikan stepped on earlier, now feeling a lot better, as it squeaks happily, but then squeaks in concern as it looks back towards Mikan.
Fluttershy also looks back at Mikan, who is still on the ground, breathing heavily. She smiles and nods towards her animal companions, as they prepare a plan.
Fluttershy: I...think I understand it now...! Everyone was so afraid of you...but you've been afraid this whole time, right? You must have end
Mikan: Grrgh...Hngh...
Fluttershy: I guess it's true, huh? It's so sad. I'm so sorry...But still...
Fluttershy stamps her hoof on the ground, drawing the panicked and crazed Mikan's attention. Fluttershy then employs her most deadly technique - THE STARE!
Fluttershy: That's NO excuse for your behavior! You need to calm down!
Mikan: ...
Fluttershy: ...
Mikan: Are you making fun of me...! Please! DON'T PICK ON ME!
*SHWOOSH!*
*CLINK!*
Mikan: Huh!?
Fluttershy: Yeah, I somehow knew that wouldn't work...!
Fluttershy giggles, embarrassed that her trick didn't work, but also clearly not having expected it to. But to Mikan's shock and surprise, as she throws another array of needles towards Fluttershy, they seem to bounce off her. In reality, they collide with a forcefield the Pegasus puts around herself.
While distracting Mikan with The Stare, Fluttershy's animal companions hang the golden necklace that is the Element of Kindness around her neck, and Fluttershy does not hesitate to use it's power to protect herself.
Mikan panics and throws more needles, but they also bounce off. Fluttershy bears an expression of sympathy, but also determination as she and her animal friends stride slowly towards the Ultimate Nurse.
Fluttershy: I meant it when I said I don't want to hurt you...But without my friends here...I need to do this...!
*SHIIIIIINE!*
Mikan: KRRGH! H-HUH!?
Mikan is nearly blinded by a light that erupts from Fluttershy's body, and once it dissipates, she looks up in horror to see Fluttershy in her Rainbow Power form.
Fluttershy: I think you should be careful...
Mikan: Wha-!? WAAAGHAAAGH! WHAT IS THIIIIS!?
Fluttershy: It's the most powerful magic in all of Equestria...Friendship!
Mikan: KYRAGH! KYAAAHAGH!
Die...Kill...No...NOOOOO...! STOP! NOOOOOOOO!
Mikan: H-Huh!?
Mikan's eyes shut tight as she's suddenly swept off her feet by a tornado made of rainbows that completely envelops her. However, they shoot open again, not in fear, not in shock or horror...but in clarity.
The voices in her head that drive her into despair...the foundation of her despairing rage...she feels them being washed away, and for the first time in her entire life...she feels free.
However, despite this, her nightmare doesn't appear to be over, as she stares back up at Fluttershy, who's body glows with a white light, and her eyes white out as she's filled with power.
Fluttershy: Heehee...!
*POYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!*
Mikan: K-KYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGH!
Fluttershy, with a warm and cheerful smile, and with the animals of the orchard hovering around her in bliss and tranquility, fires a golden beam of light down onto her opponent, and Mikan screams in fear as she sees her body slowly but surely begin to turn into stone! Starting with her feet and working it's way up into her head, the broken Ultimate Nurse becomes a solid frozen ornament.
Fluttershy slowly descends to the ground with her animal friends, and returns to her base form. She's completely healed of every wound she suffered during the fight and her vitality is restored to normal. She and the animals approach the statue and carefully watch it.
Fluttershy: Once my friends arrive, we'll let you go free, and I'll gladly let you join my tea party! ...But for now, I'm sorry, but I have to sit you in time out...
Tumblr media
Leona: Ah, poor poor Mikan. First a victim of batshit Danganronpa lore, now a victim of even more batshit My Little Pony lore. But hey, at least she didn't "DIE" die...
Hifumi: Unsurprisingly, this match was pretty clear cut. Though despite the one-sidedness in terms of how each combatants abilities stack up to each others, Mikan Tsumiki DID possess her own fair share of advantages.
Tumblr media
Leona: To start with, Mikan's primary way of taking out enemies is using her needles to either rip them to shreds, or inject them with enough anesthetic to send them into comatose. Despite it still being pretty high when scaled to other characters in My Little Pony, Fluttershy's defense is easily her weakest stat, and she's evidently not immune to drugs...and I genuinely can't believe I just said that.
Hifumi: Tsumiki's best shot at winning this fight would be to catch Fluttershy off guard, and inject her with enough sleeping drugs that she falls unconscious and deliver an easy killing blow that way, assuming Fluttershy doesn't somehow die from the overdose. And with her evidently unmatched stealth and speed skills, as well as the fact that she's undoubtedly far more strategic than her Pegasus opponent, it was entirely possible she could get the jump on Fluttershy, who all things considered is very gullible and easily duped, and achieve exactly that!
Leona: That being said, while not IMPOSSIBLE, it was still very unlikely. It took SEVERAL shots, and even Mikan having to distribute basically all of the drugs contained in her claymore needle to render Nagito Komaeda unconscious. This is most likely because Nagito's Ultimate Hope abilities gave him an exponential increase in stamina that allowed him to resist the drugs for a long time, only taking effect with one final shot following several battles in succession.
Hifumi: And based on the calculations of her feats, as well as scaling her to Rainbow Dash in particular, it's likely that Fluttershy's max stamina was MUCH HIGHER than even that.
Leona: As were MOST of Fluttershy's stats at that. Mikan was fast, being able to outpace Nagito Komaeda, who possesses above superhuman speed and reactions, but Fluttershy was DEFINITELY faster, so much so that it's hard to even lock down her maximum speed. Scaling it to Rainbow Dash though, who she was able to keep up with when creating the tornado, we know she's at least faster than light.
Hifumi: In terms of physical strength, in both their base form and Despair and Flutterbat forms respectively, they might have been equal in terms of attack potency, but to reiterate, Mikan Tsumiki's primary weapon is a 150 lbs syringe, and though she IS able to wield it, she does so sluggishly, in a way that Fluttershy just can't NOT dodge easily.
Leona: Another advantage Mikan held was that based on the way the ability works, it's most likely that in her Despair Rage state, she would be immune to Fluttershy's stare, just like Discord and the Flash Bees were, since Mikan is also a very aggressive creature in this state that honestly relishes on fear more than it perturbs her.
Hifumi: However, what Mikan would NOT have been immune to was the Elements of Harmony, and there was no way in hell she was EVER going to beat Fluttershy in her Rainbow Power form. In fact, Fluttershy's power of the Element of Kindness basically countered every ability she had left.
Leona: Her powers could easily allow her to generate a barrier that blocks all of Mikan's weapons and projectiles, and would cleanse of her any lingering effects of the drugs if there were any. And to top it all off, Fluttershy's rainbow tornado would wipe every trace of evil and Despair away from Mikan, effectively taking away her Despair Rage state and every ability and bloodlust along with it. She could also just as easily use the Element of Harmony to turn Mikan to stone like with Discord and the other villains in MLP. You know, if Mikan really is struggling to cope with her past and the Despair still inside her, she should probably ask Fluttershy for therapy. Pretty sure it would do her wonders!
Hifumi: Let's be honest, if these two ACTUALLY met, there's NO WAY they would fight. They have a lot in common, with both of them being pretty wimpy, timid and sweet in their base forms, and not being able to fight at full potential unless angered or despaired. Despite their far from intimidating appearances, both Mrs. Tsumiki and Fluttershy have shown feats of strength and ability far beyond the average human or pony.
Leona: But that is the exact reason why Mikan falls so far of the victory here. One is a human, and the other is a pony. Mikan possesses no form of special combat abilities or powers, but Fluttershy has used her unique abilities alongside her friends to take down opponents like Discord and Tirek; both godly beings far beyond anything Mikan could ever HOPE to take down.
Hifumi: Mikan Tsumiki was a terrifying foe, but Fluttershy's total dominance and undefeatable power of Kindness and Friendship put the Ultimate Nurse in her stone-cold place.
Leona: Though she was Flutter-SHY of victory, fortunately for Mikan, forgiveness is the NEEDLE that knows how to mend!

hi betts! thx for writing free ride, its one of my fav. i sent this bcz of your a/n at the end of chap 2: "I don't know where communist frat boy Sejanus or lowkey yandere Lucy Gray came from but they are here and they aren't leaving." im always afraid of characters running on their own when i try to write a fic. im afraid they wont be in character anymore if i let them be. so i try to be careful and meticulous, but instead it stops me from writing. have u ever tried to stop charas when they run on their own because they end up not in character? how do you do characterisation when you write a fic?
whenever i get an ask about how to stay IC, in my heart i'm wiping a cartoonish drop of sweat from my brow and stepping in front of a mountain of comments accusing me of OOC.
it's interesting to me that anxiety about writing OOC comes from a proprietary feeling toward existing characters. both our own proprietary feeling which grants us the interest in writing fanfic about them, but also the reader's proprietary feelings which lead them to go "he wouldn't fucking say that."
there's a paradox there, though. many of us write fic to be self-indulgent. self-indulgence means prioritizing the ideal. the ideal sometimes means taking characters away from their canon selves in order to fit the story we're writing.
my whole motivation for Free Ride is wanting to see how coriolanus would be different growing up in contemporary american capitalism. canonically, he's a tyrant. but we have no idea why or how, in canon, north america became panem. panem is not a free market economy; there's not even evidence coriolanus knows what capitalism is. controlling commerce is one of his greatest anxieties. the idea that the capitol could be once again cut off from necessary imports is what leads him to make virtually every decision he makes in both tbosas and thg. so i think he would detest the idea of a free market, but he would never be a socialist.
which is all to say, a lot of the fic i've written these past few years have been kind of "what if" character studies in lieu of writing meta. with that being the goal, i'm less concerned about the characterization of anyone else. suzanne collins set me up well with developing characters who have a strong voice; ultimately, when people say "he wouldn't fucking say that" i think they mean "he wouldn't fucking say that in that way." in the case of tbosas, with the film and book being so different in terms of characterization, i feel there's a bit of leniency anyway. i'm writing book coriolanus with movie lucy gray and sejanus.
also, i think part of the fun of fanfic is selling your characterization. "yandere lucy gray" is a kind of thesis statement and the fic, i hope, backs up that interpretation. sans fearing for her life, i think lucy gray would be a bored twentysomething who feels like a big fish in a little pond and is eager to indulge in the kind of intensity she craves. canonically, i think you can argue they bring out the worst in each other. consciously, i'd gone into this fic eager to see how coriolanus would develop in this particular circumstance. unconsciously, lucy gray and sejanus's voices developed on their own around the premise.
there have been a few situations where i wrote characters in the entirely wrong direction before catching myself. i think i had about 40k of Digging for Orchids written when i realized i'd written xie lian wrong. i imparted on him my own interpretation of a happy ending. i can't really wrap my head around ambition or the drive for fame, so initially he came to accept his fall from grace and moved on from acting. but i remembered that canonically he's a god and his story is about ascension. in a modern au, household name fame is what would make him happiest. so i had to go back a ways and write in a different direction so i could give him the ending he deserved, even if it's not something i would ever choose for myself.
which is all to say, it's important to acknowledge that what you want for your story and what is "right" (in this case, IC) may sometimes be at odds with each other. sometimes what you want is more important, because that's why you're writing in the first place. but sometimes you can have what you want and also stay IC. in the case of Free Ride, i could write you a paper on the choices i made about coriolanus's characterization. i have dozens of annotations in my copy of tbosas interpreting his canon behavior in a modern context. but my only support for communist frat boy sejanus is that i think it's very funny and also the movie totally mangled his character so i feel slightly more justified in making him who i need him to be for the story.
write the story you want to read. once it's written, you can go back and figure out if some piece of characterization isn't sitting right with you. in writing, all things can be fixed. and if you don't feel like fixing them, you don't have to. it's your story.

Okay this was going to be a joke but it turned into character analysis… enjoy.
London Love Never Dies Phantom is so badass for showing up maskless to confront Raoul. He knew he was going to win the bet (let’s not forget he is the one who suggested it) and wanted the vicomte to be left, on some level, traumatised that Christine left him for a man with such a severe deformity because yes, the LND deformity is more shocking than the original one.
Raoul makes his case worse when he makes all of his arguments, comebacks, whatever you want to call them, about Erik’s physical appearance (“…foul as sin, hideous, horrible…”), which he seems to feel better about ten years after Christine confronted and moved something in him (“This haunted face holds no horror for me now, it’s in your soul that the true distortion lies.”) because, let’s be honest, Erik’s behaviour in this sequel shows a lot of maturity and control.
He isn’t angry anymore, he understands his wrongs and wants to right them. Maybe he understands why Christine didn’t stay (looking at you, Ramin’s nod in the 25th), and grew to accept it, worked on himself, and now believes he has earned a second chance. In his mind, he is the one that now deserves her, even more so with Gustave in the picture (in this case he might even feel it’s his duty as well, but for him it’s a delight).
The truth is that Erik has become the healthier choice for Christine by the time the events of the musical happen. He is a respected businessman, who has learned to love himself and dedicated ten years of his life to build his dreamland, where he helps others like him feel safe and accepted so they won’t have to go through the same as him, we see this in “Beauty Underneath”, something Christine taught him about, no doubt.
Not only that, but Phantasma is a charming attempt at helping others see what’s different with, not even compassion, but straight up wonder and amazement.
The Phantom is the ultimate example that some people just deserve a little bit of love (Final Lair kiss) to realise their worth and change for the better.
The MINUTE Christine kisses Erik he becomes a changed man. He lets her go with a man he was clearly jealous of, and he disappears from her life for both their own goods. Erik becomes incredibly selfless while also taking care of himself (GROWTH!).
It isn’t until he feels accomplished and happy on his own that he decides to contact Christine. Even after the rush of emotions inside him tempt him to return to his old ways when he sees her again, Erik gives her the freedom to leave him and is okay with just hearing her sing one last time. No wonder some of Christine’s final words to him are “…take the love that you deserve…” because he should never have had to earn it.
Erik deserved love the moment he was born, and every time he was denied it, he deserved it even more. Going back to the final lair, he is so angry when Raoul, a handsome aristocrat, who is also Christine’s fiancé, asks for compassion. What’s his answer? “The world showed no compassion to me!” Sometimes the actor is sarcastic and sometimes just plain mad which means Erik is either trying to cope or simply gave up on it. If anyone is long overdue compassion, it’s him, not Raoul.
Minutes later he learns love when Christine kisses him, and later on in a certain scene we never get to see (yep, it’s “Beneath a Moonless Sky”), and then a third time when they reflect on what happened that night. “I woke to swear my love…” and what’s the next line? That’s right, “and found you gone instead!” Erik left.
Christine was to be married, and he didn’t want to hurt that part of her life. He also felt ashamed of himself, but he never says it was because of his face, all he says it he was “ashamed of what he was” (someone an engaged woman cheated with? In THAT period in time), not only that but he was afraid to face her. He took the love she had given him and left before it could turn into hate (after all, it had happened in the past… “tears of hate”, anyone?). So yes, this is the first sign of Erik taking care of himself and a further demonstration of his selflessness that we first see in the Final Lair.
After all, what he does with that little bit of love is work on himself and become the man he believes Christine deserves even though she might never even get to see it. He knows she wants him to be okay and as long as she is too, then they both can be alright with being away from each other.
*cue LND overture, the new chapter in their story where Erik finds out Christine isn’t okay at all*
Once more, character development at its absolute finest!
So no, Raoul, you’re not hurting him in the least by calling him ugly. After all, he has found the beauty underneath as well as the love that he deserved (yes, Gustave, that’s you).
Erik discarding his mask for one of the most important scenes in the show is such a power move in his journey to acceptance. Unmatched.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Nashuja, Noor whispered, do you think we can have a little talk before you leave? In private?
- With me? Is something wrong? Did you decide that Pam can't go after all?
- No, not at all. I just wanted us to have a chat. I mean, it's not likely that we will have the chance again, so I thought...
Tumblr media
- I don't know if there is much else to be said, but okay. I will have my last practice at the gymnasio tomorrow, so you can meet me there after practice.
- I'm looking forward to it!
- Eh, okay. Me too, I guess.
Tumblr media
- Let's be honest, Noor started, I think we both feel a bit awkward now that the truth is in the open. I don't blame you, it was probably a mistake not to talk about the past. I take full responsibility for that.
- Okay?
Tumblr media
- And I just want you to know a few things about what happened, not to excuse myself, just to explain. I need you to understand that I always loved you, no matter the circumstances. But the first two-three years of your life I was very, very sick. So it was Simadhne who took care of you on a daily basis.
- Okay?
Tumblr media
- Yes, so it was only natural that you became more attached to her. She was the main person in your life, she really was. And you in hers! You were the child she and Itaja always longed for, I simply didn't have the heart to break you all up and take you with me when I got married. It would have shattered them, and you would have been heartbroken. I just couldn't do it.
- Okay.
- So you must understand that I loved you very much, and I missed you terribly, especially in the beginning.
Tumblr media
- Yeah, okay. I can see that. But why didn't you tell me? If it wasn't for the king, I might have never found out!?
- It's not that we tried to hide it from you, but there were no reason to bring it up. From our perspective, that is. We all knew, even you, in the beginning. And then, as time went on, it became harder to talk about. Maybe Simadhne and Itaja was cautious because they were afraid to loose you, deep down, and also they knew that it was kind of painful for me. So nobody wanted to hurt the others. Which ultimately hurt you.
Tumblr media
- Okay, I understand that, and I don't hold it against you, but all of this have been confusing, I must confess. And I would have preferred to know. In stead of having the king telling me about it. Which reminds me...
- I knew you were going to bring that up again.
- Okay?
Tumblr media
- And I'm not going into details. Noor was prepared this time. Your father and I met very briefly. We did not have a relationship, and we were not in love. But I'm glad you had the chance to talk with him before he died, and that he treated you well. That's all I'm going to say concerning that topic. It really isn't appropriate for a mother to share intimate details like that with her son, okay?
- Okay, okay... Okay, I say that a lot don't I?
Tumblr media
- You do! Ha-ha! But seriously, I hope you are really okay with all of this now, and that you will leave Manthos with a light heart and remember us all with warmth and kindness. I love you so much, my son, never doubt that. Please be safe on your journey. Hmm, are you still feeling awkward or may I give you a real mother's kiss here in public?
- Yeah, I don't mind. Okay! Ha-ha!

You know what I'm trying to finally write again and anywhere is a good place to start so here are some bite sized reviews of my bite sized YA binge (including two other books I read a few weeks earlier):
The Narrow, by Kate Alice Marshall: This was a book I borrowed after skimming it with a strong impression I would enjoy it, and thankfully I was right! The main character is the daughter of two well off but neglectful parents who spend way more time on her deeply troubled brother, to the point where she doesn't find out they forgot to pay for her final year at boarding school until she's already arrived. Fortunately the wealthy parent of a sickly student is willing to cover her tuition, as long as she rooms with and takes care of that student for the year. Pity she's pretty sure she's the reason that student is sick. Oh, and their dorm room is haunted as hell.
The Narrows deals a lot with the subject of abuse--both romantic and familial--while couching it in an atmospheric ghost story. I liked the tone and the characters, and one thing I really enjoyed is that it used its first person narrative to paint a very familiar romantic fiction picture of the main character having no one else to relate to or rely on other than their new love interest who is ~the only one who understands them~, and deliberately made that the product of her own insecurities. The ghost and possession element also explored sense of self and identity in a way that pinged pretty hard with my ozqrow days. Bittersweet ending, but would recommend for anyone into sapphic ghost stories.
Before the Devil Knows You're Here, by Autumn Krause: Ehh this was the mediocre apple story. I loved the summary--the main character's struggling single father passes away suddenly, and before she even has time to mourn, the monster her father has been warning her about her entire life shows up on their doorstep to steal away her brother as well, so she sets out to find the monster and save her brother. I dunno, the problem could be me, that summary had me expecting Guillermo del Toro style Labyrinth--which I am now realizing someone could say "don't you just mean Pan's Labyrinth" and no, I mean the relationship with maturity and sexual awakening where the monstrous is outwardly monstrous--and that's...really not what it was at all. It was "what if Johnny Appleseed made a deal with the devil," which kudos, I have not seen before, but wasn't really into in its execution. I do appreciate a heroine with guile, though, and she does have that.
I Fed Her to the Beast and the Beast Was Me, by Jamison Shea: The premise of this one is pretty straightforward--a talented black ballet student makes a deal with a dark entity to have the opportunity to actually make it into the prestigious Parisian ballet troupe she's been chasing after her whole life, and discovers that being part of a cult with monstrous powers is actually less toxic than being a girl of color in the Parisian professional ballet scene. I really liked this one, it wasn't afraid to have its leading lady be monstrous and cruel and wrong, and it also made it clear which parts of her mindset were just the product of spending so long in a cut-throat industry that spent every moment rejecting her. The ending was a bit too neat for me, but overall the atmosphere was great. Genuinely almost anything with a title like that is probably something I'll end up enjoying lmao
What Stalks Among Us, by Sarah Hollowell: Two best friends get stuck in an evil corn maze! This wasn't my favorite, but I still enjoyed it a lot; the main character's habit of self-censoring even among friends was very resonant with me. The story hits the ground running and has good momentum on exploring the mystery of the maze and how it came to be. The nature of the maze is ultimately rooted in [womp womp] trauma, so that's a major element of the story, and unfortunately there is greater focus on the main character's trauma with her best friend supporting her, but I guess that's to be expected in a first person narrative. It still is ultimately about their friendship! Which is portrayed as valuable as is without developing into anything else.
The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, by Andrew Joseph White: Ultimately the most brutal of the books but I think that was what I liked about it. The main character is a trans boy in an 1882 London where mediums are a hot commodity but the women are only prized as potential baby makers for male mediums. The main character is caught trying to escape his conservative family and inevitable impending marriage, and sent to a corrective boarding school designed to turn mentally unwell spiritually sensitive women into demure brides. This boarding school is run about the way you would expect, and most of the story is the main character realizing just how bad it is and figuring out what can be done to escape. The exactly one way he's gotten lucky is that he and his future betrothed turn out to be t4t and are really quite cute together, but the main character is an aspiring surgeon and that means the story is not afraid to get visceral. Which really elevated the tone; there's room for a sequel in the ending to this one that I wouldn't mind reading.

So a little under 2 weeks ago, I was responding back to some of the comments from chapters 13 and 14 of To Break the Bonds Within Two Kingdoms. As I was having a conversation with one user, they made a very interesting comment about how E. Gadd's chaotic nature had to have rubbed off on Luigi a little bit.
And when I saw the words 'chaotic nature,' I kid you not, one of the first things that popped into my head was the D&D alignment chart where it ranges from lawful good to chaotic evil.
And then I started to ask myself where the 5 main characters (6 if you count E. Gadd) in TBTBWTK would be placed in the D&D alignment chart.
Which leads us to what is going to be this very long post. XD
Now, I do want to point out that this is a rough idea and that it could change over time. In addition, this alignment is also based on how the characters are portrayed in my story. There is a possibility that you guys might have different thoughts or opinions on where each character should be placed and that's perfectly okay! If you guys do think that Luigi, King Boo, or any of the other characters listed should be aligned somewhere else, then feel free to let me know because I'm curious to see what y'all's thoughts are. :)
Alright, without any further ado, let's get started! :D
(Adding a cut to avoid minor spoilers to those who haven't read TBTBWTK yet (or at least haven't read up to chapter 15).))
Luigi: Lawful good
Cause let's be honest here: Luigi is the purest thing in the entire world.
2. Mario: Chaotic good
So with the way I envision Mario, I see him as someone who wants what's best for the people he loves (especially Luigi), but the reason I listed him as chaotic good is because the things he feel that are best for Luigi don't always align with what Luigi thinks it's best for himself (i.e., Bowser). Plus, I can see Mario as someone who is willing to break a few rules if it ultimately means helping out Luigi, Peach, or anyone else he loves and cares about.
3. Peach: Lawful neutral
I see Peach as a kind-hearted soul who cares about her people, her friends, and her family (especially Mario). However, the thing I think that ultimately makes her lawful neutral is the fact that she is also a princess/queen and I can see Peach as someone who occasionally (but not always) puts the rules, orders, and traditions above personal preference.
4. Bowser: Chaotic neutral
So Bowser was tricky to figure out, but when it comes down to this, I see him having two different sides: The one side we're all more familiar with in the Nintendo games (e.g., he's not afraid to do whatever he wants whenever he wants, arrogant, and stubborn) and the second rare side he doesn't show very often (e.g., he cares very deeply about his minions and family (i.e., Luigi) and would do anything to protect them. Plus, he does feel certain types of negative emotions such as guilt and regret because of the bad choices he made even if they didn't seem like bad choices at the time (a great visualization of this is in chapter 14 & 15)).
5. Professor E. Gadd: Chaotic good
So E. Gadd was a little tricky to figure out as well, but it's really because there isn't any interactions between him and the rest of the characters in TBTBWTK. With this being said though, I see E. Gadd as a kind-hearted little old man who absolutely loves to learn new things, especially paranormal stuff. However, the thing that makes him chaotic is that I feel like there are times (not a lot of times) where he doesn't care for Luigi's wellbeing as much as he should be. (One good example of this is Luigi's Mansion 2 because the reason that whole adventure happened in the first place was because E. Gadd sold King Boo's painting at a garage sale when he should've known that selling King Boo's portrait was a bad idea.)
6. King Boo: Chaotic evil
Need I say more?
