As I lie here after an amazing weekend, I think of what could have been, and how hurt I still feel in silence because of “what could have been, would’ve been”.
I feel personally touched by Carmella’s post a few days ago of all her worries during their current pregnancy… I couldn’t imagine the fear they felt, but I celebrate their rainbow baby 💕 all I know is how I felt finding out and being pregnant then suddenly feeling like no one was home anymore, was one of the most absolutely terrible feelings out there.
We were so convinced we were having twins because we were the same size as a YouTuber who had them... however, it was a fibroid the size of a cantaloupe accompanying our baby, which caused a miscarriage. I had it removed for our future pregnancies, the scars reminding me every day of what happened.
I like to believe this baby made me aware of the issue that would have caused complications with them and any future babies had I not removed it, and somehow I mentally form some sort of idea of them being some blessing in disguise that was here for a short time for its future siblings that’d be here for a long time.
I also want to extend a thank you to those who reached out and shared their experiences and I was unable to respond because I felt so personally touched by all the kind words you all sent and shared, just mentally I wasn’t and still not there to connect with the matter, and I’m sorry for feeling that way just like I feel sorry for myself for somehow feeling like this is all my fault, even when I know it is not.
#pregnancy tw#miscarriage tw#scars tw#surgery tw#death tw#( ooc; PLEASE let me know if i need to tag anything else. this is becoming a big part of her and i don't wanna ignore it. :c but if anyone#is uncomfortable then i will gladly wash it. )#( ooc; to anyone who has people close to pen pls know she probably discussed the miscarriage with them at some point and it lead to her and#seth's breakup because they both couldn't handle the constant memory of what they could've had with one another. no bad feelings just sad. )

☕💖 Can I Get Your Number? ☕💖 Ch 1
Jason Todd x Chubby! Reader (fem) A/N: I don't know what I'm doing here, I'm not even much of a DC fan, but Jason Todd has quickly become my latest hyper fixation character (Harley Quinn too, do I just have a thing for Joker victims???) so ... thank you for giving me a place to put this energy I guess! 😂 I'm not super confident on the characterizations, but I'm going with it because I like it. If it's wildly ooc ... that tracks, given that the only DC comic I've read is Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. Read it, or don't, I just needed to get the thoughts out of my head. The art doesn't belong to me, but the writing does. Please do not post elsewhere!
written with a female reader in mind, first person pov, no use of Y/N, starting out fluffy, will probably get NSFW later so minors DNI, let me know if there's anything else I should tag this with!
word count: 1.7k
Chapter Selection
In a city known for its masked fighters, you learn pretty quickly that everyone and everything is a potential threat. Every approaching stranger on the street, every loud sound behind you, every dark alleyway. Being bigger than me certainly isn't a prerequisite to being a danger, but it does have a way of setting off my mental alarms. I've found that big men are used to getting their way, and they get all sorts of bent out of shape if you deny them their wishes. Especially when they think they're doing you a favor.
It died down a bit after high school; I learned to exist in public with ‘fuck off stamped across my face. Headphones on, reading a book, intentionally seated at the table furthest from the other cafe patrons. All the typical signs of someone who wants to be left alone; nothing about me said ‘please come talk to me'. So I was understandably on edge when I noticed someone standing by the chair across from me. I look up just a bit, gesturing to the chair with a nod. Silent consent to take it back to his table and leave me to my book.
No such luck. The man simply smiled and mimed taking headphones off. Putting a bored look on my face, I moved one off my ear. “... Hm?”
“Hi! I'm sorry to bother you, but my brother thinks you're really beautiful and is refusing to come tell you himself.”
I could feel my expression turning to stone. “... What is this, middle school?”
His cheerful grin faltered ever so slightly; “hey, I know it's a bit silly, but he's awkward around cute girls, so what's a brother to do, ya know?”
I stared him down; “... You're not fooling anyone. Move on.”
“... Sorry, ‘fooling anyone’?”
“It’s not funny, it’s not even hurtful the 20th time, it's just annoying. Go. Away.” It was a lie; it was always painful to be on the receiving end of these pranks. But that was what these guys wanted, so I wasn't going to tell him that. My headphones back in place, the guy slunk away.
Ten minutes later, another person was standing by the chair. I pretended not to see him, continuing to read my book, until he plopped down in the seat. I looked up slowly and he smiled, another oddly warm smile, leaning forward on his elbows.
An incredibly put-out sigh later, I slid the headphones off one ear again. “What?”
“Hi, I'm Tim! I'm not sure what exactly my brother said to you, but I wanted to let you know - we're not trying to prank you or something. Our brother is just way too awkward with girls. It's painful to watch, really, so we figured we'd give him a hand.” He spoke much too fast for me to get a word in. I blinked a bit, raising an eyebrow.
“... You frat boys are really committing to the bit these days, huh?”
“Huh? No, really, I promise!”
My headphones were nearly back into place when a child showed up. His impatient expression matched how I felt about the whole situation. “As usual, Drake, your plans are far too convoluted to be effective. Watch and learn.”
He turned to me, nothing about his demeanor changing; “hello. Todd said we shouldn't bother you because you ‘clearly want to be alone’, but I am convinced the only way to stop their nonsense is if he comes over. May he have a moment of your time?”
Frowning a little, I stared at the kid. He stared right back, neither of us blinking for a solid minute as we sussed each other out. His expression barely changed, but the boredom in his eyes turned into determination. “... Well, you're definitely not a frat boy. So I'll make you a deal; you may report back that he has permission to come say hi. If he doesn't choose to, that's the end of this little charade. And if either of them” I gestured to the one sitting at my table; “comes back over here, I start stabbing. Got it?”
The boy nodded once, and I thought I saw a ghost of a smirk. “You have my word.” He dragged the other man out of the chair by his shirt, pulling him stumbling toward their table. That was when I saw him. The only person at their table who hadn't come over yet. Even hunched over the table he was enormous, probably close to six feet tall; exactly the kind of man I typically avoided. The kid spoke sharply, pointing in my direction, and his head shot up to look in my direction. Even from across the spacious patio, I could see his face turning red. The obnoxious, cocky smirk I was expecting to see was entirely missing; instead he seemed almost confused.
Headphones back on but turned off so I could hear if he approached, I returned to my book. But I only got through a few pages before the first one shouted; “and offer to get her another coffee or something!”
I looked over to see the tall one frozen halfway between our tables, a look on his face like he was considering jumping over the patio fence to get away. His demeanor reminded me of a lost puppy, and I couldn't help the chuckle that rose up out of my throat. I bookmarked my page, set the book aside, and slid my headphones down around my neck. I really thought he was about to bolt until I lifted one hand, curling my fingers to gesture for him to continue toward me.
He stopped short by a good several feet, eyeing the distance between himself and the chair, and took one extra step back. It seemed as if he was hyper aware of just how much he loomed over me; the way he stood was like he was trying to will himself to be smaller, and he kept his hands at his sides. “Um … hi. … Sorry, this is … this is really weird …”
I nodded, watching him. “It is a bit. … Todd, was it?”
“Jay… Jason.”
“Not Todd?”
“Jason Todd. Damian calls me Todd, he thinks using people's last names keeps them at an arm's length…” Jason Todd. The name felt familiar, but I couldn't place why. He continued to ramble about how important tone was in determining whether this Damian kid was referring to you with affection or disdain, and I watched him. He was admittedly very cute; he had a sort of a bad boy aesthetic -leather jacket, dark clothes, a white streak in his hair, some unusual scars on his face and arms-, which juxtaposed interestingly with the gentleness in his voice, bright eyes, and awkward mannerisms. That was actually the thing that made the most sense about this situation; bikers are often secret teddy bears.
“... Jason?”
He looked up at me, one hand sheepishly making its way into his hair. “Yeah, sorry, you want me to go. I'll get them to stop harassing you, so sorry-”
“Actually, I was going to say you don't have to stand the whole time.” I gestured to the chair across from me.
He hesitated, watching me. “... Y- you don't want me to go?”
I smiled softly and shook my head. “Sit?”
He quickly obeyed, a hesitant smile on his face, which was almost immediately hidden by his hand when his brothers whooped from their table. “... God, I'm so sorry … th- they mean well, really, they're not trying to be weird …”
I laughed softly, “it's fine, that's what siblings do, right?”
“... I guess so … I've been sort of … away for a while, but I guess this is pretty standard sibling behavior. … Right?”
“I mean, a little more insistent than mine, but not too far outside the realm of what I’d consider normal.” I shrugged, finishing my chai latte.
He smiled slightly, considering that. “... Hm … um … c- can I get you another?” He gestured to my cup.
“... Sure, I've got time.”
The pleased grin on his face as he looked away to flag down a server surprised me. Then again, everything about him was surprising. Still, no one had ever looked at me quite like that before…
The server sauntered over, clearly curious about my new companion. Jason smiled brightly; “Hi, can we get another for the lady? And I'll have a medium black coffee, sweet, please.”
Huh. He called me a ‘lady’. Not a girl, or a chick, a lady. That was … also surprising. We chatted for a little while, sipping our coffees, and tried to ignore his staring brothers. He was incredibly awkward, in a sweet, endearing way. I got the impression that he wasn't fully comfortable, but chalked it up to how weirdly this all started. After a while, the first one returned, a small grimace on his face.
I raised an eyebrow; “I'm pretty sure I told the little one that the next one of you to come over was getting stabbed.”
“I know, I know! I'm so sorry, but Jay, we gotta go. Bruce texted…”
That was when it clicked; why I knew the name Jason Todd. He was a Wayne … his death had dominated the news cycle for a week. His miraculous, frankly poorly explained, return was the story for at least two.
He looked, torn, between me and his brother. “Oh … um …”
The man I finally recognized as Dick Grayson leaned forward and fake-whispered, “the words you're looking for are ‘can I have your phone number'?”
Jason swatted him away, blushing bright red; “Seriously, Dick? … well, can I-”
His ears were turning red as I held my hand out for his phone. I added my contact info and, feeling unusually bold, I added ☕💖 after my name while Jason dropped a couple of bills on the table; I smiled a bit, realizing he was leaving enough to cover my first drink for me too. I passed his phone back, enjoying the look of wonder on his face when he checked the screen. The way he whispered my name, like a prayer meant only for god's ears, had my stomach doing backflips.
“thanks … I'll call you?”
“Sounds good. I'm a night owl, so not too early, yeah?”
He nodded eagerly. “Not too early, promise.”

a/n: minors please don't interact. blank and ageless blogs are going to be blocked. 🚶♀️ this was supposed to be posted a month ago but I got stuck 1.6k words in. literally that one bake off meme except it went like "started writing it. had a month's long block. but here it is now so bon appetit." ...anyways!
cw: Cove and reader are 23 (step 4 age!), established relationship, making out, some s*xual tension (note sure if this cw is needed), multiple mentions of alcohol and reader drinking/getting drunk, slightly OOC!Cove, but I totally see him doing it if push comes to shove and so here we are… or maybe I’m just projecting! :D this is also not beta read. but either way, enjoy! let me know if I missed anything else in the tags.
Word count: 2,016
You're 97% certain that you're going crazy.
That or there's something in the air, but whatever it is you realize that you don't really care. Nothing comes close to the urgency that is Cove James Holden.
With spasming hands, you grab ahold of his hair as you try to breathe in between the small gaps that you afford yourself. When that becomes insufficient, you press yourself further into his personal space.
“[Name], w-wait–” Cove gasps as you bite his lower lip. “Let's go inside first–”
You stop your assault of his mouth, replacing it with your gentle thumb instead. Cove’s brain is short-circuiting and your rapt attention at his lips is absolutely not helping. You giggle as you tug his lips down with your thumb. “Your lips are so swollen, baby.”
He lets out a groan of half-embarassment and half-wantonness. “I shouldn't have let you drink tonight.” Realizing that he should use the opportunity of you not pressing your own to his lips as of yet, he quickly grabs his keys from his pocket then opens the door of his apartment.
The low creaking of the door captures your attention, then you dangerously swerve as you snap your attention back to him. “Ahh, here it is! Homeee~” you drawl.
He grabs your waist as you almost bump to one of his floormates passing through the corridor. “[Name], be quiet,” he mutters lowly then quickly apologizes to the old lady, cheeks reddening. If it could go any redder at this point, that is.
He leads you inside and you lean your full weight against him. He didn’t even stagger. You would have marvelled at his strength if had you been paying attention, but alas you were briefly distracted by the little to no light that welcomed you as you stepped into the threshold.
“It's so dark here. Why is it so dark?” You whine.
Cove shuts the door then puts down your bags beside his shoe rack. He wordlessly flicks the light switch on then turns to you. “Sit down here for a second.”
“Hmm?” Your eyes blink at the blue lounge chair he's patting. When you make no move, he gently sits you down then moves to take off your shoes.
You stare at him, eyes slightly unfocused. “Hey…”
“Yes, [Name]?” He looks up at you from the floor and you giggle.
You lean into his ear. “You look good kneeling.”
“God.”
Cove looks up then mutters something underneath his breath. He closes his eyes shut, lips in a deep frown and brows furrowing despite the bright blush on his cheeks. You're going to be the death of him.
A beat passes.
He clears his throat. “I’m gonna help you change your clothes and then I’m putting you to bed, okay? Come on,” he gives you his hand to help you up, but you lightly swat his hand away.
“Nooo, I want a piggyback ride!”
Cove tries to think back to the first time you got yourself this inebriated. Except nothing comes close to mind. There was that one time your parents let you have wine on your 18th birthday, but that was in the privacy of your own home, and you were not allowed to stay up with Cove with just the both of you. With all things considered, then, this would be the first time. He has half a mind to call the Last’s but didn’t, considering the both of you are full-grown adults at this point and he’s capable of taking care of you tonight.
He is… right?
Your head lolls a bit to the side, then leans back next to his head. “You’re so warm,” you hummed as you tightened your arms around his shoulders.
“You are, too. I’m gonna put you down now, ‘kay?”
Your lips tremble, your intoxicated mind irrationally offended with the thought of him going away from you. You hiccup. “Are you mad at me?” Another hiccup. “Don’t let go, please?”
“[N-name], are you crying? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that!” he tries to look at you, but human heads can only turn up to a certain angle. “I won’t go away, I promise. I’m just gonna let you down on the bed.”
You sniffle, nodding despite Cove not facing you. “Okay…”
You feel what you can only assume as his mattress beneath you as he deposits you down onto the soft covers. You come face to face with his worried face as he examines your countenance with his hands on both sides.
“Don’t cry,” he swipes his thumb at a stray tear, his heart breaking at the sight of your red-rimmed eyes and trembling lips. “I think you’re underestimating your own importance in my life,” he lets out a sad chuckle. “I’ll never, ever, let you go out of my own accord. You’re it for me. My soulmate, the love of my life. I’ll spend forever loving you if I could. So don’t cry, okay? Honestly you would have to be the one to decide if you get sick of me at some point, and only then will I consider leaving you. But until then—and God knows leaving you, ever, is not what I would want—I’m yours.”
He ends his speech with a tender kiss on your forehead.
Being reasonably touched and rightfully overwhelmed at your boyfriend’s reaffirmation of his love aside, it seems like the alcohol is affecting you so much worse than you would have liked. It’s getting embarrassing and sober you would definitely hit yourself upside the head with how ridiculous you’re reacting.
You start sobbing.
“Waaaahh, I love you so, so, so much!” you wail as you bury your face on his stomach, hugging him in a vice grip. Cove can only hug you as tight as your positions can allow him, rubbing your back soothingly as he tries his best to calm you down.
A couple minutes of uncontrolled sobbing and you getting helped by Cove to get cleaned up for bed later, you’re now snug under his covers, waiting for him to come back from the kitchen to get a fresh glass of cold water.
“Here you go,” he puts the glass on the sidetable and you sit up to drink it. You gulp down the refreshing water in no time.
Having calmed down from the blindsiding, alcohol-driven, emotional outburst earlier, you can only look at him sheepishly as you are hit with sudden clarity. “I’m sorry for the, uh, sorry for being unreasonable earlier. I’m 100% blaming the alcohol,” you laugh lightly. You try to ignore the urge to pinch yourself out of embarrassment.
“Are you feeling better now?” he gives you such a heavy look that you can’t help but find the texture of his covers particularly interesting. Great, now you’ve disappointed him.
“Yes, yes, I do. I’m really sorry about earlier, I was probably being a bother. I’m not sure I will swear off alcohol completely, but I’ll try to keep it to an ultra reasonable amount and not end up being completely hammermpgh—”
Cove leans forward and takes your lips against his own, shutting you up and pushing you back down on the bed in the process. “Don’t misunderstand, you can do whatever you want as long as you’re not totally endangering yourself and I will take care of you, but it seems like we’re still not seeing eye to eye in one crucial thing.”
Your head still reeling from the kiss, you can only open and close your mouth like a silly guppy. “W-what—”
“You’re not being a bother to me. Not ever,” he frowns, peeved at, and saddened by you downplaying yourself. “You never have to apologize for the things that I do for you because I love you and you’d do the same thing for me in a heartbeat.”
“But I—”
The rest of your sentence was interrupted by your beloved boyfriend leaning in once again to capture your lips in another searing kiss. “None of that,” he murmurs from above you, and your heart starts to race at the palpable tension between the two of you. “Do you understand, [Name]?”
You take in his state from above you, his eyebrows furrowed, pupils dilated, cheeks rosy pink, and lips deliciously swollen. You gulp as you feel your heartbeat pounding in your ears.
“I-I do. I understand.”
“Good,” he whispers lowly, and you’ve never wanted to shriek so hard in your life. You try to look back in your whole relationship with your neighbor-turned-friend-turned-best friend-turned-childhood sweetheart-turned-boyfriend and try to pinpoint a time he was ever this… this… this INTENSE and HOT and you want to faint.
You think you are going to faint.
Presumably contented from your response, he finally pulls back and you’re left trying to settle your breathing. Before he can step away to get to his side of the bed, however, you abruptly sit up to grab at his sleeve.
“Wait.”
He stops, looking at you with questioning eyes. You almost balk but steel yourself, eyes glinting with newfound (and undoubtedly short-lived?) confidence. “Are you seriously going to leave like that?”
“Like what?” His wavy eyebrows rise and the edge of his lips curls up in a familiar way that basically told you that the jig is up. “Like what, baby? And for the record, you did look good underneath me.”
You can almost feel your ears blowing out smoke out of embarrassment. Did he just—
Well, two can play at that game.
You brace yourself harder then hit him with, “Well, if I looked so good, why don’t you do it again?”
He looks away, and you see the traces of his flush from his ear to neck becoming more and more vibrant.
Ah. There he is.
“A-aren’t you tired?”
With an unexpected gracefulness of a predator stalking its captured prey, you lean in close to his ear. “Not for you, I’m not.” Then you give him the most seductive look you can muster.
He bites his lip and your eyes follow the movement. You watch as the gears turn in his head debating whether to be responsible and make you get some rest, or to give in to your temptation and give you what you want.
Breathing out shakily, he gently removes your grip from him and puts your hand on your lap. You look up at him in confusion. He smiles apologetically then gives you a tender kiss on the lips. “You need rest, [Name]. You had a long flight coming home.”
You huff and pout, conceding. “Okay… but I want my cuddles.”
He laughs softly at that. “And cuddles you will get.”
Cove then turns the overhead lights off in exchange for lampshade. Once settled under the covers, he also turns the remaining source of light off, and you immediately draw yourself to his warmth. His arms reach around you to pull you in closer. You sigh, content.
“I missed this. I missed you.”
Cove hums then gives you another affectionate kiss on the top of your head. He smiles as he pays attention to how perfect you feel against him, like two puzzle pieces finally being connected after so long of being apart.
“I missed you too, more that you’d ever imagine.”
You laugh lightly at that, giving a soft peck at his skin in front of you. Cove giggles, ticklish. “Not everything is a competition, Mr. Cove Holden.”
“Alright, alright,” he giggles, squeezing you closer to him. “Get some rest, [Name]. I love you.”
You smile to yourself as tiredness catches up to you and your eyelids become heavy. “I love—” You let out a small yawn that Cove also catches. You share another soft laughter, like two lovers sharing secrets under the blankets, a couple finally reuniting after a while of being apart. “I love you, too.”
And with that, the two of you go into a peaceful slumber, with you vaguely thinking of getting back at him in the morning for not giving in to you earlier. Maybe he’ll be in for a surprise…

would it be alright if you were to write a fluff(maybe smut?) hancock x reader who has adhd who's just overwhelmed with quests and doesn't know which one to do first? Lol please and thank you:)
Of the People, For the People
John Hancock x ADHD!GN Reader (FLUFF!!)
CW: reader struggles with their ADHD, John thinks it’s cute, cursing, guilt, restlessness, slight OOC Hancock, slight suggestive themes towards the end, fluff, possible grammatical/spelling errors, briefly proof read
AN: as someone with ADHD this ask actually really hit home. It was half the reason why I could never start games like Fallout and Skyrim in the first place was because there are so many things you can do, the idea alone was overwhelming to me because I knew it’s start and never finish just about everything pushed my way. Then the TV series came o it and all that changed upon the simple acquirement of a hyperfixation on the ghoul and thus my love for fallout was born! 😂 I am still rather new to Fallout games, lore and such so please be gentle if I have gotten anything wrong, I’m still doing my best at learning everything I can to write these well and properly! But I hope I did your ask some justice with this Anon! Hope you all enjoy some more love for our Mayor Hancock. 🥰

“Ugh, there’s just too much to doooo” you whined as you plopped down onto his bed in the state house, exhausted and sore all over from setting up not one, not two, but three whole settlements in one day. Of course it wouldn’t be a day out in the commonwealth if you hadn’t run into monstrosities along the way or people along the way to other settlements who needed other things from you. For instance, there was someone who needed saved from thinking they were a synth and returned to their parents, other people who needed help getting their settlements started, people who needed you to kill some super mutants, people who needed you to eliminate some feral ghouls some place else, and after that you couldn’t even remember if you tried. Thank goodness for your Pip-Boy keeping track of these things or else you feared you’d never remember it all. There was just so much that others, especially Preston, were asking of you to do out here that it was beginning to become just a bit too overwhelming to take on all at once. You loved that you could be help for people, so unfortunately you never really paid your own wellbeing any mind until now that it was at such a detriment you could hardly even think straight, much less accurately hit a target or properly even speak to someone without sounding like intelligence was your dump stat. You wanted ever so badly to be that light for people who had seemed to lose hope because it’s what you would want others to do for you if you were in need. You lived and breathed by that golden rule taught to you so long ago. Come to think of it, the only person who you’d done everything for last that you could remember was Hancock, which was actually how you two ended up together.
“Being commander of the Minutemen will do that to ya, sunshine” Hancock teased, leaning against the door frame as he looked at you, tiredly splayed out on his bed in amusement, finding it funny that the commander of such a large militia could be so…well, you. Anyone else would likely be overwhelmed with power to the point of paranoia, or the opposite and let it go to their head and break them of the person they once were, but you were still yourself through everything. He admired the way you wanted to help people, the way you helped the poor and needy in the ways he wished the rich would do, but he could tell it was taking a clear toll on your wellbeing in doing so. He genuinely couldn’t remember the last time you told someone no, or that you flat out just couldn’t help them because he could see that look in your eyes when someone asked you for help. He saw the sympathy, the pain, saw the way you felt so bad knowing that if you didn’t, they likely wouldn’t make it out in the harsh world of the commonwealth. His heart ached for you in that sense, because he remembers a time when he wanted to help everyone in his town that he could, any way he could, hell it was the whole reason he became the mayor of Goodneighbor in the first place. But just like you, he needed someone to make him realize that you can’t do everything, some things just have to play out and fix themselves on their own. “But I think you need to take a break from it for a day or two, give yourself a chance to recoup. You’re working’ yourself to death and I’m startin’ to get worried” he added, walking into the room to join you and he watched you sit up, looking completely defeated and worried at the idea of not helping others or running things for just a day, let alone two but also at the fact that now he was concerned for you. “But they need me, John. If I don’t help them…what would become of them? What kind of leader would I be to just leave them in shambles? I can’t live with the idea of lives lost because of me…” you said with a guilty tone, clearly torn between the idea of helping yourself or helping others, and the sweet innocence of your good natured personality made him smile softly as he closed the door behind him and sat down next to you on his bed.
“Even heros need a vacation, love. Helping people who won’t make it is wonderful, it’s one of the many things I love about you. But people can just as easily be hurt when they’re guided in the wrong direction because the person directing them isn’t taking care of themselves the way they need to. A good leader needs strength sure, but that strength depletes and needs replenished every now and again, and that’s okay” he said, grabbing your hand in his, squeezing it in the hopes to offer you some level of comfort to assure you his words meant no harm, he simply just wanted you to look out for yourself as much as you looked out for others around you. He knew it got through to you when he heard you exhale an audible deep breath you’d been holding in for so long. “I guess, I just…I don’t know. It feels extra difficult for me because I can never stay focused on just one thing. I get started on one project, then someone comes along and I get so side tracked trying to help them that I forget all about where I started! I probably have twenty of these damn missions at least half started before I dropped them for something else entirely. It’s so frustrating and overwhelming because then they all start to pile up, and then I don’t know where to start!” you explained, making him laugh. Who would have ever guessed his big, fearless commander of the Minutemen, partner was easily sidetracked by their ADHD. But he wouldn’t want you any other way. “Yet you completed everything I asked of you with no issue” he pointed out with a smug grin, making you blush at the realization that he noticed that. “Well…yeah. I did it because I liked you and wanted to get closer to you. I was fixated on it because I wanted it to better my chances of being with you, so to me it wasn’t work. It was just doing something that you, someone I care for, asked me to do, so I did it” you admitted bashfully, making him smile at the wholesome reason you gave him. “That’s so fucking cute” Hancock replied as he put his arm around you, pulling you into his side, making you blush even more before covering your face with your hands. “It’s cute until you realize I killed someone for you” you quipped with a grin once you’d moved your hands away to look at him, making him chuckle at your reply. “Made it even” he joked, referring to when Finn tried to haggle you when you first showed up to Goodneighbor. “Fair enough” you responded as you chuckled, but he could still tell that you hadn’t fully come around to the idea yet, something still had its hold on you but at least you started to open up to the idea.
“C’mon, let’s just take the next couple of days to relax. The settlements will be fine, they run pretty well on their own, I’m sure they can survive a day or two without you. Maybe Nick or Codsworth can run ship while you take the time to yourself” he said, making you lean your head against his shoulder as you contemplated it. “Poor Codsworth, I wouldn’t do that to him. He tended to my house for two hundred years despite the absolute state of decay it was in from the explosions, thinking the family would come back any day and it drove him nearly mad. I could only imagine what running settlements would do to him” you said, making him chuckle. “Okay then how ‘bout Nick? He’s traveled with you long enough, he’s a smart guy, I’m sure he could handle it. I’m sure he’d more than understand that you need some time to yourself to get back that good ol’ fighting spirit” he added. “You think so?” You asked skeptically, making him sling his arm around your waist to hold you close and help ease your nerves the best he could. It was times like these that you wished you had the confidence and aloof attitude Hancock had about just about everything. “I know so. Think about it, you set them up, taught them what they know, they already manage pretty well on their own, they got this! Just lay back and relax for a change!” he said, easing your nerves just a little bit more at the idea. For someone who never wanted a leader to be too comfortable, he really wanted you to be, it was strange yet heart warming to see how much he cared about you and wanted to make sure you were taking care of yourself. So you finally gave in, maybe a couple of days to relax and do what you wanted to do didn’t sound bad after all. Maybe you could enjoy a couple of drinks one night, or hell, maybe enjoy just sleeping in a bed two nights in a row for a change, give your body a rest from sleeping on the cold hard ground in a sleeping bag. And not have to worry about all the things floating around in your mind that need done. That sounded like heaven to you once you convinced yourself with Hancock’s help that it could really be useful. “Okay, but if I do, I can’t just lay in bed all day. I literally can’t, I’ll go crazy” you said, making him laugh, knowing the way you can’t sit still for more than a few minutes at a time just on the regular while you’re on the go. “We don’t have to, these couple of days are for what you wanna do sunshine. Though I wouldn’t mind it of course if we spent all of it in bed, but staying in bed all day doesn’t necessarily mean *just* sleeping, ya know” he said, his voice slipping into that characteristic deep, gravelly suggestive tone with a mischievous grin painting his thin, irradiated lips as he pulled you into his side, making you laugh. “John!” You said, seemingly flabbergasted at his reply, but truthfully you hadn’t expected anything less from him. “Oh you know I love it when you yell my name, keep doin’ it sunshine” he said flirtatiously with that ever recognizable smirk painted across his face as he crawled on top of you on the bed, littering your face and neck with kisses through a shared fit of laughter. Maybe a little break wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Miraculous Ladybug
Open My Eyes by buggachat
Adrien smiles as he eats breakfast with Nathalie, smiles as he walks through the halls of his new lycée, smiles as people stop him on the street and tell him time and time again what a "hero" his father was.
(Adrien wishes he could've been a hero, too. He should've been. Maybe then his father would still be alive.)
(But he's surviving. Everyone may be treating him as though he were made of glass, but he can still go through the motions, he can prove them wrong, he can still smile.)
“And you’re… happy,” Marinette spoke carefully, a nervous tilt to her voice, “... right?”
(Adrien has some things to find out.)

Tim Drake had absolutely no intentions of ever becoming anyone's sugar daddy when he met Superboy.
This would have worked out better for him if Superboy had ever had an actual legal identity or an actual legal guardian or just . . . literally anything whatsoever in life. Ever. At all.

Shen Yuan's Forced Shen Qingqiu Redemption Arc by SpicyReyes
The System's OOC function won't unlock all at once - instead, character traits have to be added individually, through quests. This leads to Shen Qingqiu having to jump through endless hoops just to complete enough side quests to unlock the ability to be a decent person - all while avoiding the effects it has on those around him. If only the cheapskate System wouldn't keep changing the cost of point values - he needs to know what the hell Yue Qingyuan told the others about him that makes them all look so sad when he does manage to be nice! He's breaking his back here, can't we just appreciate his work?!

We have it all (Hualian adopted daughter fanfic) Chapter 7
Disclaimer: This is a work of fanfiction. I only do this for fun.
Premise: Not long after comforting a bullied girl named Meng Ai, Hua Cheng and Xie Lian find themselves adopting her and together they form a family they didn't know they had needed for awhile.
Story/Genre tags: Slice of life-ish (mainly), Family focused, Hua Cheng's houses finally become homes, there may be an overarching story but that's not the focus, Hualian being parents, Fengqing being uncles, Lang Qianqiu falling in love with someone who was raised by the Xianle squad, technically post-canon (though I haven't read the books so if there are some ooc moments please forgive me).
AO3 Link
Chapter 1, Chapter 2 , Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6
Follower tags: @anonimgato1507 @fd139 (I tagged you just in case - Lang Qianqiu makes his first appearance in this chapter)
AN: In honor of Meng Ai's birthday here is Chapter 7 - which is either posted before, on, or after, September 21. Yes this chapter will be mainly focused on her birthday celebration (the preparations leading up to it and the celebration itself). I couldn't help myself - I love the song so much.
Chapter 7
"When exactly are we meeting Chenxi?"
"We'll meet in a mutual event for our first meeting. She wants to ask a few questions. Probably to check what our intentions are in asking her about that part of her life. She told me through her oracle that I'm the first person in heaven to actually be interested in knowing anything about her imprisonment. Or at least the first person who wasn't directly related to her. Then she released her oracle and he then told me that if she has any more messages for us she'll send her oracle to either one of our temples."
They arrive in the semi-secluded residence of the now mortal Shi Qingxuan. Unsurprisingly it was located on a windy location. Shi Qingxuan's new residence was on a coastal region in a more secluded part of the beach. The winds were too strong for the anyone else. But the former Windmaster felt right at home, even when the winds no longer followed their will. When they were certain that no other mortals were nearby they rid themselves of their disguises as Nan Feng and Fu Yao and turned into their regular forms with a finishing touch of glamour to conceal their divine aura.
"Finally! I thought I would have to do something drastic to make you both return." Shi Qingxuan says as Mu Qing and Feng Xin approach their home.
"We've been busy." Feng Xin says as they enter Shi Qingxuan's home. A modest structure compared to their residence that they used to have. Well ventilated to allow the wind in what may have been a hot indoor dwelling. Spacious enough to allow room to move and to entertain a fair number of guests. But it was small enough to not be a headache when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.
"Doing what? Let me guess; sparring, dates, making sure Xie Lian is happy and martial God duties?"
"The job that you were supposed to do but you were ill."
"Speaking of which - here." Mu Qing shoves a brown bottle to them.
"Here's the second to the last dosage. Same instructions as before; half a cup once a day after a meal."
"Do I have to?" They whined.
"I already feel better."
"Then throw it in the sea. It's not my problem that you're still lacking in energy. Come to think of it I think I should be thanking you." They sighed and immediately began to drink their medicine as prescribed.
"Thanking me for getting sick? You can start by giving me these cosmetics-"
"Not happening." The three of them settles on the dining room as the winds grow stronger at midday time. Midday is when they typically visit since mortals don't like being in this spot at midday because the winds were too harsh. That way they can take a break from their mortal guises while checking up on a slowly recovering Shi Qingxuan.
"What job was I supposed to do?"
"Babysit Xie Lian and Hua Cheng's little girl."
"What?!" Mu Qing and Feng Xin couldn't help but chuckle a little at their surprised look.
"How - What?!"
"Technically she isn't officially their daughter yet. They and her parents want to ask her first before officially adopting her."
"Have you seen the way she called out for them when her father was in danger?" Feng Xin asks Mu Qing in disbelief.
"I know we haven't seen the three of them talk much but something tells me she wouldn't mind being adopted by them."
"Woah, woah, Nan Yang, wait, care to explain everything to the should have been babysitter - is she cute?"
"Her name is Meng Ai, she turns seven years old on the 21st night of September -"
"How did you know the details of her birth?"
"Jing Mei told me - she gave birth to her just after sunset."
"More details for the next babysitter please!"
"Hey I was interrupted."
"I was curious."
"You were saying Xuan Zhen?"
"She could detect the presences of the otherworldly, she got that from her father and her mother is an oracle of Xiwangmu."
"Let me guess, she could sense your divine aura?"
"A lot more than that." Feng Xin adds.
"She could sense that Xuan Zhen, Xie Lian, and I are the same type of spirit and could feel the differences from our divine aura to the ghostly aura of Hua Cheng." Shi Qingxuan's eyes grow bigger.
"At six years old!? I wasn't able to do that till I was 15! And I was only able to be good at it at 19!"
"Yes, it's impressive that she could do it without realizing it. What a talent she has." Feng Xin says with a smiles as he takes a drink from his tea.
"But she wasn't able to tell that you were Gods?"
"She hasn't had much exposure to divine presences and the three of us are probably the first beings she has interacted with long enough for her to make those observations. Interacting with ghosts on the other hand are an almost daily experience for her. It makes sense that she could tell that we are a different being from ghosts but not know that we are Gods."
"...I hate it when you are right."
"You also love it. Why else are we together now?"
"Wait -" Shi Qingxuan interrupts before they could continue flirting. As happy as they are that these two former enemies are now a couple, they were more interested in knowing more about the new little girl in their lives.
"If her parents are still alive then why are they adopting her?" Both of them shares a look before facing back at them.
"Long story short: They are the loophole and the key to giving Meng Ai a good life. I've mentioned that her mother, Jing Mei is an oracle and she receives visions."
"Just after giving birth to her, she received a vision of Meng Ai dying as a sacrifice to Xiwangmu at the hands of her relative while her parents were already dead."
"They asked Xiwangmu for a loophole and she told them that as long as she had one parent who is dead and one parent who is alive she'll be safe from those who want to sacrifice her. And so Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are that loophole."
"Hmm? How are they sure that Hua Cheng and Xie Lian counts as a loophole?"
"Chenxi clarified her mother's solution. A parent doesn't need to be blood related to count - uh - are you okay?" Mu Qing asks as shock is shown in their face.
"Chenxi - Xiwangmu's daughter - she's back? She's freed?"
"You know her Shi Qingxuan?" Feng Xin asks in interest.
"Yes - it's...it's been so long." A smile slowly emerges in their face.
"Chenxi is one of my professors when I ascended. She helped guide me in learning about my domain and how it serves the world. She's one of the best teachers I've ever had." Shi Qingxuan pours themself another cup of tea.
"When she disappeared I had thought at first that maybe she's just in her family's mountain. I couldn't blame her - I loved it there when she brought her students there to have a rest from our studies and heavenly duties. She's one of those teachers who genuinely cares about her students. She knows when to push us and when to make us laugh at ourselves and to rest from work." Then their face becomes darker.
"When I learnt that she was imprisoned...I tried to help. I secretly went against orders against getting involved."
"What happened?" Shi Qingxuan looks at them with a dark look.
"I don't know how, but they managed to use my powers against me. One of the men - I can't remember his face, just that he had green eyes - managed to somehow choke me the more winds I made and the more air I controlled." They take a moment to breathe and to calm themself. But to Mu Qing and Feng Xin it was clear that this was a traumatic experience for them.
"When I managed to somehow escape from that man, Chenxi sent a telepathic message to me to escape. I tried to tell her that I came here to free her. She rebutted and told me that just because I controlled the winds didn't mean that I had enough strategic experience to rescue her." They couldn't help but shed a tear.
"Her last message to me was that she was proud of me - but I was not meant to rescue her. And if I wanted to honor her I should live my life to bring joy and use my domain to serve. Wasting my life away for a task I wasn't meant for is a disservice to myself and others. After that I never heard from her again." They wipe the tears that they had shed and a small smile begins to emerge as they look at the martial Gods.
"Now you know one of the reasons why I am the way that I am. Even though I was immortal, life is too short to let it slip through your fingers. Professor Chenxi was right, she almost always is."
Should we tell them?
Probably - Chenxi might want to see them again
"How was she freed? How did you contact her?"
"We don't know the exact details but Meng Ai's father, Ji Huifan was the one who freed her and her mother, Jing Mei nursed her back to health. I'm sure she would love to see you again. We're going to meet with her in some sort of mutual event. She didn't specify what yet." Shi Qingxuan couldn't help but giggle at Mu Qing's brief flash of annoyance at the Chenxi's somewhat vague instructions.
"Yup, that sounds like her. Enough instructions to know what's going on but no further questions till she thinks you're ready for more or you need it."
"Xuan Zhen was able to contact her through her oracle. Maybe she'll make an exception for you since you were her student." They let out a sad sigh.
"I'm not immortal anymore. Her nearest temple is going to take me at least an entire month to get there. I don't mind the long journey but I guess I'm still recovering on how to function as a mortal. Aging and work and all."
General Nan Yang, an oracle of Chenxi is in the temple. She says that she has a message from Chenxi and requests permission to communicate with you through the spiritual channel.
"Well it seems we're in luck, one of her oracles is in my temple now."
"Then what are you waiting for? Another war? Give the oracle your password already."
"Hmph and you call me impatient."
Granted, give her the password. Tell her that General Xuan Zhen will also be joining us.
Feng Xin glances at Mu Qing and gives a small nod. Mu Qing puts his finger on their temple and enters their joint telepathic communication. In their mind's eye they appear in their respective places as they look down on a woman with bright orange and black robes. She was kneeling down with her head down as she waits for them to speak.
Rise oracle of Chenxi.
She keeps her head down as she stands up in the center platform of the spiritual array.
You have a message for us from Chenxi?
I do General Nan Yang.
Why do you keep your head down? General Nan Yang has already asked for the message.
The Goddess Chenxi is actually asking permission if she could speak through me. She instructed that I am not allowed to look at either one of you until you have granted her permission to do so.
This was new. They glance at each other in the spiritual array. Mu Qing shrugs before nodding.
Granted.
Immediately the oracle looks up and her golden glowing eyes looks at both of them. Her back straightened and her stance now more fitting of a dignified Goddess than a follower of hers. What followed was a voice that was drastically different than hers but one Mu Qing is familiar with. Only now he realizes that what he had heard was the dulled version of her voice. It was expected since she was speaking through her oracle's body. Just like whenever her mother possessed one of her priests or priestesses, her voice blended with her mortal follower's.
Good day Generals Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen.
Chenxi, this is quite the unusual method of reaching out to us. You could have just contacted either one of us directly.
I assure you Nan Yang that there is a reason why I'm doing it this way. The short answer is that we could be eavesdropped and I'm not taking any chances.
Eavesdropped in Nan Yang's mind? I didn't know that such a thing was possible.
You also didn't know it was possible to contact me through my oracle and yet you did. But enough of that. Please tell Shi Qingxuan that I will see all three of you in Meng Ai's birthday on the 21st night of September. It will be in Paradise Manor for obvious reasons.
Understood.
And speaking of Meng Ai, the little girl has been wondering where you both disappeared to. I personally recommend visiting her before then. She's already figured out that you two and Xie Lian are Gods and is currently trying to guess which ones are you.
Well it's nice to know we've made an impression on her considering who will be adopting her...It was also nice seeing her beat Nan Yang in Go.
You were coaching her!
She's still learning the game.
Chenxi chuckles a bit.
I'll see you in her birthday celebration. Don't forget to bring a gift for her. Till then, good bye General Nan Yang, General Xuan Zhen.
She then releases her oracle who immediately brings her head down and her posture now back to a humble follower.
Thank you for your service to us. Some of my followers will escort you back to your temple for your protection.
Thank you as well General Nan Yang. And thank you as well General Xuan Zhen for your presence.
You're welcome oracle of Chenxi, depart with Heaven's blessings.
Feng Xin and Mu Qing leaves the spiritual array. Both of them grin at Shi Qingxuan.
"It seems like your old teacher has heard you. She now expects to see you in Meng Ai's birthday in Paradise Manor. Which means Nan Yang and I will have to introduce you to her before then."
"Oh gre- AH CHOO!" Horror and denial is on their face as Mu Qing gives them a pointed look as Feng Xin sends a telepathic command to some of his followers to protect the oracle.
"Which means you need to get better before going anywhere near her. Rest I'll make dinner and herbal tea tonight."

Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
He feels himself scurry along the once familiar rooms as he hides himself in plain sight.
"What are the chances that they are no longer in these lands?" A figure asks briefly looking towards his direction which frightened him that he might be caught. He made himself relax despite his fear. He cannot afford to waste any opportunity to learn more about their plans.
"If they had gone to other areas of the silk road we would have known. Our network of contacts are too vast and prominent for us to not know."
"They could have gone through sea."
"Or to the archipelagic region with several islands."
"Again, we would have known if they had fled to those lands. We have spies in the Southern coastal area and they have been closely watching every single family who consists of a father, a mother, and a daughter. So far every batch of them is not them. I still believe they are still within these lands."
"Or they could have been transported to another world entirely." A figure with green eyes say as nearly everyone groaned.
"For that to be possible they'll need a lot of energy. And no unusual power surges among mortals have been detected."
"Stop all this worrying." A figure steps in. To anyone who didn't know or look closely, the man looked to be in his early fourties. Never knowing that he, like the rest of his relatives gathered within this room was several centuries old.
"Ji Huifen and his family cannot escape forever. We can take as much time as we'd like. What's important is that his daughter is sacrificed on Xiwangmu's altar. It doesn't matter if she's a little girl or an old lady, all we need is to take her before death claims her. Are we understood?"
"Yes Zufu Bocheng." They all reply as they settle themselves in their respective seats as Ji Bocheng takes his seat.
"Tell Ji Lihua to take her time. I trust in her abilities to track Ji Huifan. But she could be impulsive and impatient. Remind her that we have all the time in the world as long as the little girl is alive."
"We will Zufu." Ji Bocheng then gives the signal to their servants. It was when he heard the incoming groans and screams of pain that was getting louder just outside of the door that Ji Huifan decided that he has seen enough. He closes his eyes as he lets go of the mouse that he has possessed. He's had enough experiences of the blood feeding rituals and he doesn't want to add more memories to the mix.
We've got you Ji Huifen
Xie Lian's telepathic presence gently guides him back to his body. He awakens in the presence of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. All of them seated under a tree that he had felt the most calm. Both of them had leant him enough power to allow them to telepathically see and hear what he has learnt.
"Hmph if they think they have contacts everywhere then it's a good thing that I have my own network."
"Still, I believe that it is best for you and Jing Mei to stay here for a little bit more."
"Thank you Dianxia. Mei mei Lihua is probably one of the best choices they have of tracking us down."
"Why? Does she have any special abilities?"
"It's because you're siblings isn't it?"
"Correct, Lihua and I are full blooded siblings. While our forms are quite different she could easily track me down because we share the same parents. Our other siblings are only half and if only one parent is shared, there's a large number of guesswork since the identity of our blood could also be shared by distant relatives with a common ancestor. But if both parents are the same, all she has to do is to track down anyone whose blood is the closest to hers." He sighs as they stand up and start heading back towards the manor.
"Having said that while she may be good at tracking me down, she isn't the best fighter compared to our other relatives. Knowing her she probably thinks this is more of a chore."
"What do you suggest?" Xie Lian asks.
"Keep her bored. Or make sure that nothing peaks her interest while staying on the task. If she's bored enough she'll move on to something else."
"On the contrary I suggest we keep her on the task." Hua Cheng says as they stop for awhile after all three sees Meng Ai and Jing Mei entering the gardens. This was a discussion that Meng Ai doesn't have to hear.
"You've mentioned that she's not the best fighter among them but she's the best choice to track you down. What if we finally eliminate her?"
"That...may work. But I'm not entirely sure if she will become mortal once again just by being drained of her blood till she passes out or if she also needs to accompany it with grief."
"Let's continue this at another time." Xie Lian says as they enter within earshot of Meng Ai and Jing Mei.
"Baba, Xie Lian, San Lang, I need your help -"
"They are not going to help you Aiai."
"But-"
"You're not old enough for a puppy."
"But mama the puppy and it's mama doesn't have anywhere else to go."
"Aiai - I know you love animals. But you cannot adopt every single puppy and mama dog that you see."
"Hmm? Where did you see a puppy Xiao Ai?"
"Mama was doing her water ritual San Lang, it's where she sees things through water. And she was just checking on the areas just outside of ghost city and in one of the nearby cities there's a puppy with it's mother and both of them looked alone -"
"And you are not yet old enough to take care of them."
"But mama their round green eyes looked so sad."
And that caught everyone's attention.
"Xiao Ai how would you describe the type of green eyes the puppy and its mother have?"
"They were beautiful bright green Xie Lian. Like jade if it managed to glow."
"They were glowing Aiai. But you are still too young." To everyone else it became clear why Jing Mei was refusing to allow Meng Ai to get anywhere close to them. Dogs typically didn't have eyes that had the color of bright glowing jade green. It was definitely something else that was in the guise of a puppy and its mother trying to lure innocent victims like Meng Ai who wasn't aware of the dangerous trap she was being lured into. Probably a couple of demons who was using glowing jade green eyes to lure victims into their trap.
Though that didn't mean Jing Mei was wrong in saying that Meng Ai was too young and not ready to take care of a pet.
Then Ji Huifan fortunately remembered something.
"Mei, doesn't Chenxi and Xiwangmu raise animals as a community pet?"
"Those animals are technically pets which belong to the Goddesses; which is why with a few exceptions they stay inside temple grounds and are never slaughtered or killed."
"I have an idea."
"I'm not taking one of their pets and gifting it to Aiai."
"No no, what if Aiai raises one and offers it on her birthday? Then we could see how ready she is for a pet of her own."
"Hmm that could work. It could show Xiao Ai here what it means to take care of another life who depends on her."
"And every week we check their progress. Her birthday is only a few weeks away and it would be a valuable experience for her."
"And how are we supposed to remain hidden while offering the future pet to Xiwangmu?"
"Xiao Ai doesn't have to actually leave here. Something tells me they'll send someone here for her birthday. What do you think little one? Are you up for the challenge your parents gave you?" Hua Cheng asks with a teasing tone.
"Yes please, pretty please."
"I'll be choosing what you'll be raising. And I will tell you now it's not a puppy. Xiwangmu already has plenty of dogs that play around in her temples."
"Okay."
"Don't worry Aiai we'll guide you. But it's still you who will be taking up the responsibility of raising the animal whom you will offer to Xiwangmu."
"Yes, baba." Meng Ai nods eagerly as she waits for more reminders from her new parents.
"Xiao Ai why don't you play with Ruoye for awhile." Xie Lian allows Ruoye to fly towards Meng Ai as it wraps itself around her hands while a part of it rubs itself against Meng Ai's cheek in their mutual delight.
"While you're at it, take E-ming with you. Just don't take E-ming out of it's sheath." The sentient scimitar coos in delight as Hua Cheng carefully gives it to Meng Ai with a subtle but noticeable glance to Yin Yu to watch over her while she plays with their spiritual tools. Once Yin Yu leads Meng Ai to a safe distance away from the four of them while still being within their vision, the discussion becomes serious.
"I'm going to investigate the hidden demon nearby."
"I'll come with you San Lang."
"How sure are you that it's just a demon? What if it's a demon summoned by one of the mage mercenaries to try to lure us out - or even worse lure Aiai out."
"That's even better Jing Mei, getting information will be easier. If you need anything Yin Yu will know what to do." In the distance they hear Meng Ai laughing as she was chasing Ruoye who was carrying a sheathed E-ming around a field of Asters.
"Please you two, let San Lang and I handle this." Ji Huifan sighs, shares a look with Jing Mei before they both nod.
"You probably already know this but from my experience these demons are the most likely ones that they've summoned." They listen intently before making their way to where the disguised demons were located.
The couple lands a short distance away from where the hidden demons disguised as a puppy and its mother were. Standing near them made their demonic aura more obvious to them.
"They don't seem to be puppets. But that might just be because whomever created them is highly skilled."
"Hmm my bet is that they themselves are demons since if they were just puppets they would need some external power source to do that level of deception while still keeping itself intact." The sun begins to set and children begin staying indoors or staying in areas that are more crowded than the sparse field where they are in now.
"How do you want to do this San Lang?"
"We go together but you could approach it first. You'll ask the easy questions." He turns to Xie Lian with a dangerous glint in his eyes that Xie Lian couldn't help but be drawn to even after seven years of marriage.
"While I ask the difficult questions."
"Do you think they'll be truthful?" Xie Lian quickly asks to try to ignore his blush. Though he knows that Hua Cheng had already noticed.
"We'll know, and we'll have our ways to finding out the truth." They share a nod as they make their way to the hidden demons. The one disguised as a puppy starts whimpering and making pitiful sounds as it looks at Xie Lian's figure approaching.
"Whomever you are go to your true form. There are questions that you need to answer - both of you." Xie Lian says with a serious but still approachable tone. But the once seemingly innocent look of both demons are now glazed over with darkness and anger.
"Don't make us force you." Xie Lian warns as he prepares himself for any possible attack. The demon in the form of a puppy launches itself at him but its demonic face with a mouth full of sharp teeth emerged. Xie Lian quickly moved away with ease and dodged an attack from the demon in the form of the mother dog. As he bent down Hua Cheng managed to grab their throats in each hand and both demons began choking with fear.
"Go to your true forms or I will make you." He throws both demons on front of them and they immediately go to their shadowy forms with reluctance and fear of the Crimson Rain Sought Flower.
"Now." Hua Cheng continues as he holds their jade green glowing gazes.
"We'll ask some questions and you are going to answer them. Lie and we will know."
"Hrraah...Fine...Graah."
"Why are you here?" Xie Lian begins.
"Krrah ... Krraah...to...Krraah...lure..."
"Lure who?"
"Hrrah...Graaah...a...krraah...little girl...KraAAh..."
"Do you know her name?"
"GrraAWAah...Hrraah...No...Krrraah..."
"How about what she looks like?" Hua Cheng asks in an intimidating tone.
"Krraah...Hrraaah...No...Krraah...GrAaAh!" They share a look.
Shall I make them show us?
Go ahead, you did warn them earlier.
"Hmph why don't we see for ourselves." Xie Lian slips his hand in Hua Chengs and intertwine their fingers while Hua Cheng with his other hand now outstretched reaches into the memories of both demons. He quickly found the memory he was looking for and projected them telepathically to Xie Lian's mind so they may both uncover them together.
"WE SUMMON YOU!" Cried a group of hooded and masked mages in a dark night without moonlight. The only light present was the candles arranged in a summoning formation.
"KRAahAHaha...GrahaAh...who summons...HrahaAah?"
"We do, youth devourers."
"We have a task for you."
"GRAhahaKraah...Offerring...HraAah...first." One of the mages lead two children who were in a trance to each demon. Xie Lian couldn't help but wince in horror as the youth devouring demons take their souls and devours them.
Gege?
I'm fine...its just awful
I know
"Satisfied?"
"Grahakraah...Yes...Grahaaah."
"We need you to capture a little girl."
"Her left eye is blue and her right eye is amber brown. She would be about six years old. By the end of September she will be seven years old."
"HRAAH...Krahaagh...why...Graaahk...us...kraaAAagh?"
"You youth devouring demons specialize in luring and hunting down children. Even in areas where mortals cannot easily go."
"We have prepared other offerings which you will recieve when you bring us the girl alive and with her soul intact."
"GraAAAahhk...krAaAh...her...KRaAaAhk...name?"
"She is known as Meng Ai, and her presence was felt in Jingdezhen before we lost track of her."
"Bring her to us and you will recieve the rest of your offerings."
"GRAaAh!" "HraAAaAghk!"
The memory ends but Hua Cheng keeps his control over the two demons.
"Should we ask them to lead us to them?"
"No need. I already know where those mages are, even if they travel around." Hua Cheng then summons E-ming out of its sheath.
"GrAAH krAAaAh - you liars! HraAahk!"
"We never promised your safety and continued existence." These were Hua Cheng's last words to them before E-mind destroyed them.
"Good job E-ming." Xie Lian says as the scimitar's eye looked to him for approval. Having received it, E-ming coos of soft delight.
"Hmm they're getting desperate. Something tells me that this won't be the last thing they summon to hunt or lure Xiao Ai to them."
"I'll increase the security measures when it comes to her safety. And when all else fails she still has our silver butterfly pendant on her. Our combined powers in that pendant should be able to protect her and send a message to anyone who dares harm her." Xie Lian couldn't help but smile as he notices how Hua Cheng is already thinking of her safety.
"What amuses Gege so?"
"I like this side of you. Being protective over our daughter. I don't mind seeing this more often." Xie Lian couldn't help but tease a bit as he brings himself closer to Hua Cheng's look of surprise.
"Is...is that so?"
"Mmhmm" He sighs as he embraces him with his arms around Hua Cheng's neck.
"Let's visit Puqi Shrine for awhile. Since Meng Ai couldn't be there for the meantime we'll have the bed to ourselves." Hua Cheng quickly takes out the dice and tosses it but barely looks at the number that will inevitably lead to Puqi Shrine. His gaze instead was focused on his husband as he feels his desire for him increase as he feels himself share an expression of lust with him.
"We're here Gege." He bends down to kiss him and to carry him as a groom would carry his bride. Never breaking the kiss he enters the living quarters and gently placed him on the bed.
"San Lang mmm" Xie Lian moans as he keeps Hua Cheng close to his lips with one hand while undressing him and teasing him with the other.
"Mmm Gege mmm."
They would deal with the damage left by the previous battle once morning arrives. For now they were savoring being united in their love.

"White Lotus is clearly the better mooncake filling." Mu Qing argues as he, Feng Xin, and Shi Qingxuan went to the nearby town. It was their promised reward to Shi Qingxuan for taking care of themself to recover quicker and thus meeting Meng Ai earlier before her birthday.
"Its too subtle for a little girl's birthday."
"Well clearly not for Meng Ai since she loves it."
"She also loves the Red bean filling. The popular choice."
"Hey you two why don't you just go for the third option? You both mentioned you liked how her mom mixed both fillings together, why not go with that? Also," Shi Qingxuan browses the fabric on display.
"What do you think her favorite color is? Or or what colors do you think looks good with her?"
"The four of us secretly decided to give all three to her. We'll give her an official answer so that she won't suspect and so her mother could begin making it, Nan Feng and I will buy one mooncake with either White Lotus paste or Red bean filling and her new parents will buy the other."
"Red bean filling is easier to find and it easily sells out. Oh and I think you should just ask her since we'll be going there once we finish up here."
"Which is why we should buy the White Lotus one so that it's easier to get."
"Do you know how easy it is to screw up White Lotus mooncake?"
"Any mooncake made by an idiot will be screwed up. Why do you think we'll be tasting them first before giving it to her?" Sighing as they hear the argument continue Shi Qingxuan decides to ask the store owner if they had some fabric samples they could show. They couldn't help but laugh at both of them remaining firm in their arguments.
"Here you go sir, a book sewn with a small piece of all the fabrics we have in our store."
"Thank you so much. Come on you two, you can continue arguing outside." They say with a laugh as both of them follow them out.
"Is that your only gift to her?"
"Of course not, we're also giving her a Go set." Feng Xin says as Mu Qing enters the first store selling mooncakes. The Mid Autumn Festival was only a few weeks away and this year Meng Ai's birthday would be in the week after that. Stores were now selling their mooncakes as a form of advertising their products. By selling them now the public could gauge which stores would sell the mooncakes that appealed to their taste and stores themselves could gauge how many orders to prepare as the Mid Autumn Festival came nearer.
"Did you check with Hua Cheng and Xie Lian if they already have a Go set in Paradise Manor? I find it hard to believe that Hua Chengzhu wouldn't already have one."
"Well another one wouldn't hurt."
"Because he already bought it." Mu Qing says as he emerged with six small mooncakes. Three of the White Lotus Paste filling and three of the Red bean filling.
"I didn't buy it! It wasn't used and was just collecting dust in one of my temples and I compensated my priest with blessings in exchange for offering it to me."
"In other words - you bought it from your priest." Mu Qing rebuts as he eats his share with the red bean filling. While the taste itself was not bad it had a strangely sour after taste that he isn't sure that Meng Ai would enjoy. Jing Mei's remarkable mooncakes were smooth, flavorful and did not have any of the aftertaste he was currently experiencing now.
Perhaps it was just the red bean flavor.
He eats the White Lotus paste flavor filling and while the flavor was better than the previous mooncake, it still had that sour aftertaste.
It must be the dough.
"Uhm Xuan Zhen, I don't think a little girl is going to like this." Shi Qingxuan says as he swallows only out of politeness. But it was clear from their and Feng Xin's expressions that none of them were fans of the sour aftertaste.
"I know, this is a far cry from her mother's version."
"I honestly doubt we'll be able to find someone who could match hers."
"Describe how her mother does it. Maybe I know a place that will have something similar."
"Smooth, flavorful, concentrated in its flavor that just complements the egg inside it, sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Just enough to make you want more."
"It's almost like there is a subtle burst of it in every bite you take and because of its smoothness the flavors becomes more intense." Feng Xin adds as they begin making their way in a secluded area after they notice that it was late in the night and it was time for them to make their way to Paradise Manor. Mu Qing begins drawing a teleportation portal to get them close enough to the entrance of Ghost City.
"If she's willing to make us some, you'll understand what we mean."
"Are you sure Xiwangmu wouldn't let me borrow her for her visions and her amazing food? She's got plenty of other oracles." At this Mu Qing couldn't help but laugh.
"We've already talked about this, I highly doubt she would lend her to you just for those reasons."
"What if I send some of my followers to protect her and Chenxi's temples?"
"You don't need to request for her specifically! You can get anyone else to cook for you or to give you visions."
"Okay what if I teach Meng Ai how to fight?" Mu Qing pinches the bridge of his nose in both annoyance and amusement.
"Go ahead, try your best to convince one of the most powerful primordial Goddesses if you can borrow one of her most active oracles. I'm going to enjoy watching her kick your sorry butt." Now it was Feng Xin's turn to laugh.
"Hmph please, we both know you wouldn't let that happen."
"Well it looks like the portal is ready! Enough stalling let's go." Shi Qingxuan says quickly before Mu Qing could respond with what seemed to be a more teasing and flirtatious reply based on the expression on his face. Their flirting was often more confusing to the former Wind Master. At least whenever Hua Cheng and Xie Lian would flirt, their flirtations were more obvious and Shi Qingxuan knew to ignore it and give the married couple privacy. But with Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen being a relatively new couple (in public at least, they knew that the Generals were together a little longer before that) their flirtations with each other were a sometimes not so obvious and it was difficult to tell if the new couple were seriously arguing or if they were simply teasing and goading each other into initiating more physical forms of affection.
They emerge out of the portal and make a final check to see if their divine aura was obvious or not. Then they join the ghosts entering Ghost City.
When they enter the actual city they were greeted by Yin Yu.
"Welcome back to Ghost City. Just follow me to Paradise Manor."
"Thank you Yin Yu. What are they doing?" Shi Qingxuan asks in curiosity.
"It's going to be your first time meeting her, correct?"
"Oh yes! And might I just say I would have jumped at the chance of babysitting her if only I wasn't sick. But unfortunately I'm now mortal and I'm now more prone to illnesses." Shi Qingxuan gives a chuckle at the end. They decided that it was best that they take over the conversation since they aren't exactly sure what type of dynamic the other two have with Yin Yu. They are at least confident that Yin Yu and they can have an easy conversation. Or Yin Yu willingly listened to Shi Qingxuan's thoughts about almost anything.
"It is understandable, let's just say her mother has found her an animal that she will raise for the next few weeks and she will offer it to Xiwangmu on the day of her birthday." Yin Yu let's out a small chuckle.
"All because Xiao Ai wanted to adopt a puppy and its mother which turned out to be a couple of youth devourers in disguise."
"So she's taking care of a dog?" Feng Xin asks as they reach the entrance of Paradise Manor.
"Not exactly." Yin Yu says with amusement, when they reach the entrance of the building and before Yin Yu makes his leave he gives them one last hint.
"I hope you won't mind a certain meat being absent in your meals here - or at least whenever Meng Ai is present while eating. She's that committed." He then takes his leave and the three of them enter the manor. What greeted them was an amusing sight.
It seems that their presence was not yet noticed since Hua Cheng and Xie Lian had their backs to them while to their side was another couple who was looking down at what Shi Qingxuan presumed to be Meng Ai who was currently hidden by them.
"You know she can also eat bugs Aiai."
"No! Baba she'll be vegetarian."
"But you'll deprive her of nutritition and she's already the runt of the litter." Jing Mei says amusingly.
"But mushrooms are also protein!"
"I hate to agree Xiao Ai but plenty of mushrooms are toxic to both humans and animals." Xie Lian adds in a light tone.
"Aw." Hua Cheng chuckles in a way that they've only heard him do around Xie Lian. And now this little girl had the power to bring that out from him. Much to their astonishment. Mostly of Shi Qingxuan, but also to Feng Xin and Mu Qing.
"Xiao Ai don't worry, she's not going to be slaughtered. You're raising her to be Xiwangmu's pet."
"I know San Lang." They then hear a little squeal and what emerged was Meng Ai craddling a swaddled little piglet.
"Oh I'm so sorry we didn't notice your arrival." Xie Lian immediately says as he approaches the trio. It was then that Meng Ai noticed two familiar faces and one new one.
"Nan Feng! Fu Yao! Meet Chang-Chang." She holds up the little swaddled piglet as she eagerly runs to them. The piglet blinks innocently at them and as the three of them kneels down to her level to take a closer look.
"She's my birthday gift to Xiwangmu so she's actually her pet."
"Hello there." Shi Qingxuan says as they reach out and pet Chang-Chang on the head. Turns out the little piglet loves cuddles and immediately leans in on their hand.
"You know what - surprisingly cute." Mu Qing says as he gives a little pet to Chang-Chang on the head while Feng Xin pets her from underneath her chin. The little piglet, much like Meng Ai was happily soaking up all the positive attention from her new audience.
"Mama chose her for me because she couldn't get milk from her mama."
"Not enough nipples and too many piglets." Jing Mei clarifies from where she was standing.
"Is this why you don't want to eat pork until after she goes to Xiwangmu?" Shi Qingxuan asks and she nods vigorously.
"I didn't want to offend her. But don't worry since she'll be going to Xiwangmu in the morning, in my birthday party in the evening we'll be eating pork again." Feng Xin took the moment to carry Chang-Chang while Xie Lian formally introduced Shi Qingxuan and Meng Ai. After a few minutes he felt dampness in the swaddled cloth accompanied by Hua Cheng's laughter.
"Chang-Chang!" One of the servants accompanied Jing Mei in helping Meng Ai in cleaning the little piglet whose pee soaked through the swaddling cloth and dripped a bit on Feng Xin.
"I'm so sorry Nan Feng - if it makes you feel better Chang-Chang also peed on me when I was carrying her yesterday." Mu Qing laughs as he hands a handkerchief to Feng Xin.
"Don't worry Meng Ai, let's just say Nan Feng is used to fluids being dripped his way." Before she could ask further Jing Mei and the female servant ushers her out to clean Chang-Chang.
"Well would you look at that - it's nice to know that even Chang-Chang has taste in companions." Hua Cheng says as he joins Xie Lian's side.
"Hey! At least she's comfortable around me."
"Aw you two were right, she is adorable. Congratulations on your new little girl you two." Shi Qingxuan immediately says to quickly dissipate any incoming argument between Hua Cheng and Feng Xin. Even though they knew that these three couldn't help but bicker, they didn't want to start their visit with them bickering among each other (though it was still entertaining from their point of view). Xie Lian gives them a thankful glance and guides them to the dining room and takes advantage of Meng Ai being absent for a little while.
"Chenxi has contacted you?" Ji Huifan asks them as they enter.
"Yes, you knew?" Mu Qing asks.
"No, but she did send a message to Mei and I that she will be attending Meng Ai's birthday party."
"Huh interesting." Shi Qingxuan says as female servants begin placing food on the dining table. They couldn't help but wink at a few of them while also giving a sympathetic look. They recalled the time when they were going undercover and had to blend in among Hua Cheng's female servants.
"Any ideas on what are their next moves?" Mu Qing asks when they all settle down.
"Considering that they ventured into summoning youth devourers they would probably start summoning other demonic creatures." Hua Cheng says seriously. Xie Lian slip his hand into Hua Cheng's for their mutual comfort.
"Based on their last movements the entire group is mainly headed towards the southern areas. Probably to investigate if they had left or if their contacts have seen the three of them leave through the southern coastal areas. I'd like to request if you two could keep an eye on them."
"Of course." They then sense that Meng Ai and Jing Mei were coming. This time Chang-Chang was swaddled in a new cloth and was now laying inside a basket whose walls were high enough that the little piglet couldn't escape even if she jumped.
"Chang-Chang is not sitting on your lap."
"But my eyes are not leaving Chang-Chang."
"Chang-Chang already ate, she'll be more comfortable in your room."
"But I haven't yet and I need to see her at all times."
"Xiao - Ai would you like to put Chang-Chang nearby?" Xie Lian asks in a gentle persuasive tone and trying to find an approach that would help Jing Mei and Meng Ai have a compromise.
"She could be within your view."
"Okay Xie Lian." Xie Lian then takes the basket holding Chang-Chang on the seat in front of Meng Ai which was in between Shi Qingxuan and and Mu Qing.
"Don't worry, she's sleeping now so I don't think she'll relieve herself again. I just want to make sure I know where she is." With everyone complete they begin eating their meal.
"Say Jing Mei, by any chance do you still have any of those sample mooncakes? You know just so Shi Qingxuan here could understand Meng Ai's dilemma."
"Oh yes, I just made a new batch this morning - and no Aiai you're not getting any until your birthday."
"I was wondering if Chang-Chang could have some."
"I know what you're trying to do but the answer is still no."
"Meng Ai, think of it this way - once you get your mooncake on your birthday it will be much sweeter." Shi Qingxuan says now excited at finally tasting the coveted mooncakes of Jing Mei.
"That's true, but by then Chang-Chang will be with Xiwangmu."
"Don't worry Aiai, I'll make a pig friendly version to accompany Chang-Chang on the morning of your birthday when you offer her as a pet to Xiwangmu."
"Oh why didn't you say so mama!?" Finally satisfied the rest of the meal went on and by the end of it Shi Qingxuan now understands why Feng Xin and Mu Qing were no longer satisfied with just any mooncakes and why Feng Xin wants to borrow Jing Mei for her cooking skills.
"How do you like things so far Meng Ai?"
"Oh I love it Fu Yao. Everything is so red and warm and cozy."
"Ah so is red your favorite color? Oh and before I forget you can call me A-xuan. I give you my full permission." Shi Qingxuan says with enthusiasm. Meng Ai couldn't help but giggle as she shakes her head.
"Red is beautiful but blue is actually my favorite color."
"Oh why is that?" Feng Xin asks amused.
"Because whenever blue shows up in nature, it is always a work of art. That's why you don't see many things in nature that are blue."
"Hmm? But the sky is blue." Shi Qingxuan points out.
"And so is the sea." Added Mu Qing.
"The sky is up there, and the waters only reflect it, that's why they are blue. But there aren't many species of animals that are blue. There's no blue dog, blue cat or blue horses. But peacocks have beautiful iridiscent patterns on their feathers and the most beautiful butterfly in nature is the blue butterfly." At this she excitedly turns to Hua Cheng.
"San Lang, did you know that somewhere beyond our lands is the most beautiful blue butterfly? One of Baba's friends summoned some through a portal and it was the most beautiful butterfly in nature. And Baba explained that the reason why its so vibrant is because the butterflies are not using pigment, they use some sort of structure that is too small for us to see to make their wings blue. Since they live in a part of the world that rains a lot so they need to keep their wings vibrant even when they are wet."
"How interesting Xiao Ai." He says with interest as he listens to her.
"Oh yes and it's also why when you look at it in different angles sometimes it shifts in color - Baba what do you call it?"
"Iridesence."
"Iridesence! And it's the same method that Peacocks use for their feathers. That's why their feathers are so beautiful." By the end of the meal, the new people in Meng Ai's life have a good grasp on what gifts she would love and appreciate.

"Thank you for visiting scrap collector gege!"
"You're welcome Gu Zi." Xie Lian says as the little boy is escorted to have his formal lessons by a teacher whom Lang Qianqiu personally checked would be good for Gu Zi's temperament and would be considerate of his background. Now he and his former Guo Shi were alone ever since the battle of the heavens against Jun Wu.
"Lang Qianqiu? Is there something in your mind?" Xie Lian asks as he hears Lang Qianqiu sigh.
"Am I fighting a losing battle...Guo Shi?" Lang Qianqiu turns to face him with uncertainty in his eyes.
"He still awaits for his father's return. I don't know if that's his original father or that monster anymore. No matter how much I try and attempt to explain things to him he rejects it. What if...what if this means I'm not ready to take care of him? Or worse, what if I mess things up?" Lang Qianqiu then realizes that as much as he tries...he needs his Guo Shi.
The man who willingly painted himself as the villain in his life so that peace would prevail and so that he could be the ruler who listens to the needs of his people.
"Qianqiu." Xie Lian starts with a gentle tone. Gentler than when he was Fang Xin Guoshi, but nevertheless it was still sincere.
"I also wasn't ready when I came into your life." Lang Qianqiu nods solemnly.
"But you managed to do it so well."
"But I wasn't perfect." The stillness yet cooling air of the heavens only emphasized that there was nowhere to run. Deep inside both of them they longed to be able to form a bond, even though it will never be like how it was. One of them believed he was undeserving and it was all a wishful dream but Xie Lian couldn't help but hope. Lang Qianqiu didn't know how to reforge it, but he had to try. To try his best even though it made him uncomfortable right now.
He misses him.
But he also knows that the wounds from the recent revelations were still too fresh. And he could see that his Guo Shi knows that some things take time to heal.
"Qianqiu, there is no such thing as a perfect parent or guardian." Xie Lian couldn't help but place his hands on Qianqiu's shoulders to reassure his former student.
"But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do your best. And I know you enough that you will." Lang Qianqiu's eyes become watery as he allows the words of his Guo Shi to sink in.
Somehow, even till now...he knew just what he needs to hear.
And he couldn't help but smile in thanks to him.
"I have an idea, why don't I introduce you and Gu Zi to someone. She's six years old but it would be nice for Gu Zi to be with children around his age."
"Ugh, I've tried Guo Shi. But he refuses to interact with them whenever Mengyou and I take him to the mortal realm. I'm trying not to force things on him. He's so obsessed with his father and Qi Rong that I'm afraid that he will miss out on living life."
"Don't worry. You still have time. And I have faith in you."
______________________________________________________________
"Chang - Chang, sit." The little piglet lay down instead of sitting. Taking a deep breath Meng Ai tries again.
"Chang - Chang, stand." Mu Qing, Feng Xin, and Shi Qingxuan watches her squeal in delight as they watch the piglet stand up. The three of them have decided to take her to Shi Qingxuan's new residence with permission from Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. Since those hunting her were specifically looking for a family of three - a mother, a father, and a daughter, they tended to ignore groups that didn't meet this description. As expected Hua Cheng initially refused until Xie Lian convinced him that Meng Ai needs to take trips outside of Ghost City since she was still mortal. Even if the powers they bestowed on her butterfly pendant was more than enough to allow her to live everyday in Ghost City, Meng Ai did miss being around regular people. It was only when Hua Cheng made a special kind of illusion on her so that anyone who wasn't taking care of her couldn't see what she actually looks like.
This also gave a chance for all of her parents to rest from taking care of her while Shi Qingxuan is making up for lost time by showing that they can be relied on as her babysitter.
After all there were at least twenty hidden wraith butterflies watching over her and their treatment of her. These hidden twenty were only visible to the trio of babysitters. Threatening them by their mere presence and proximity should any harm fall on Meng Ai while she is under their watch. Meanwhile there were another ten wraith butterflies playing with her and Chang-Chang.
"You know for someone who recently became a father, Hua Chengzhou is quite protective over little Aiai." Shi Qingxuan says as they fan themself to keep cool. While it wasn't a hot day, it wasn't cool enough to be comfortable either.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't blame him. Qingxuan if only you knew what these cursed immortals had sent to hunt her down you too would be concerned over her safety." Feng Xin says as he takes a bite of the latest sample of mooncakes that Shi Qingxuan bought from the capital city of this area. It was definitely better but still not as smooth as how Jing Mei makes hers.
"Hmph, never thought the day would come when Hua Cheng would be protective over someone other than Dianxia." Mu Qing says as he puts a black stone on the Go board before turning to watch Meng Ai play and teach Chang-Chang basic commands.
"Chang-Chang, down." The piglet lies down and an enthusiastic Meng Ai gives her a treat. Even from where they were sitting they could see that the butterflies were being very gentle and playful with her. Some of them have began attaching themselves on her hair, keeping some of the stray strands from flying into her face.
"Chang-Chang, stand." The piglet stands and was rewarded with another treat.
"By the way, has she guessed your identities yet?"
"She already knows Xie Lian is the Crown Prince of Xianle when she asked him last dinner and said why she thinks so. He didn't have the heart to not answer her." Feng Xin places a white stone on the Go board before once again facing the direction where Meng Ai and Chang-Chang was.
"Well to be fair Nan Yang he is going to be her new father. If there's anyone whose identity she should know its him and Hua Cheng. She's quick so it won't be long till she guesses our own identites."
"Chang-Chang, walk." Happily trotting beside her and some of the wraith butterflies trailing along behind them they go back to where the trio were seated at the outer porch area of Shi Qingxuan's home.
"General Nan Yang! General Xuan Zhen! A-Xuan! Look what I taught Chang-Chang!" She doesn't notice the look of surprise when she immediately turns and commands Chang-Chang to sit, lie down, and stand. Shi Qingxuan couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh that's brilliant Meng Ai!"
"I know A-xuan! I can't believe she finally learnt my commands now." After Chang-Chang consistently follows Meng Ai's commands she picks her up and carries her as she settles herself beside Shi Qingxuan so that she may watch the Go game.
"Meng Ai what did you call Nan Feng and Fu Yao just now?"
"General Nan Yang and General Xuan Zhen. Xie Lian said that they've been bickering ever since their early days with him. And since Xie Lian is the Crown Prince of Xianle and since they have the same type of spirit as Xie Lian the only two Gods I know who like to compete with each other are Generals Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen." She turns to look at their Go game to see if she could recognize any patterns from their first lesson with her. As she was looking she hears both of them chuckle above her.
"You just had to predict it don't you Xuan Zhen?" Mu Qing only gives him a smug look in return.
"Oh but I do have some questions - what does Ju Yang mean? Did you have to become a giant in a famous battle? Why do some of the villagers and ghosts laugh whenever they say it?"
"Well-"
"You're not ready to know yet!" Feng Xin quickly says as he cuts off Mu Qing from explaining any further. This only lead Mu Qing to laugh at his expense
"Huh? Why not? Why is your facing becoming red?" She innocently asks confused.
"Meng Ai let's just say it was an embarrassing incident for Nan Yang here and that's why he doesn't like to say it."
"But I will."
"Because you're enjoying it."
"Why do you think I have all the poems memorized Qingxuan?"
"Oh I'm sorry Nan Yang - I could tell you an embarrassing memory of mine. Would that make you feel better?"
"Oh there's no need for that Meng Ai." Feng Xin quickly says but from her expression she was going to tell them anyway.
"One time somebody ask me to do the story of the butterfly lovers ten times. But I was confused because I don't know what they mean, and because this man wanted me to do it and not one of my parents. I didn't want to ask them what he meant so I just guessed. So I made ten different drawings of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. It turned out that he wanted me to write it down. But for some reason mama and baba said that it was good that I didn't do it because that man wanted to get a sample of my calligraphy." Unbeknownst to her all three of them were alarmed.
"What did he look like?"
"I didn't see his face, but I remember he was wearing a hood and a mask. But it was during one of the village festivals when plenty of people were wearing masks."
The air became chilled at this new revelation. With the butterflies still on her hair at least they know that they wouldn't need to tell Hua Cheng of their new discovery. Feng Xin and Mu Qing share a look as the memories of their clones escaping the camp full of the hooded masked mages and the cursed immortal who was Meng Ai's aunt. What she almost did.
And now they learn that a mage mercenary had interacted with Meng Ai hoping to get a sample of her calligraphy. While they aren't entirely sure what that man was going to do with it, all three of them knew nothing good could come out of it.
"What happened to the drawings?"
"Oh I didn't like my drawings so Baba set them on fire so that the ashes could be used as a fertilizer."
They all breathed out a sigh of relief.

"What do you think?" Hua Cheng asks as he shows Xie Lian the new modifications he made to their cottage. The cottage where they spent many of their passionate nights after their wedding. Now they both stand at the entrance of what would now be Meng Ai's room. A bed by the window since she loved waking up to the view. A desk to practice her calligraphy in and for her to read. Several stacks of blank notebooks and books on the shelves that she had always wanted to read.
And of course it was a tasteful blend of blue, Meng Ai's favorite color.
Xie Lian couldn't help but chuckle as he notices the paintings of blue butterflies and peacocks that decorate her walls.
"You really searched for and studied the blue butterfly she was talking about." Hua Cheng smiles at him with a knowing look.
"I couldn't make an accurate painting if I didn't examine the specimen itself. Fortunately I was able to get a sample of it and made some here." Xie Lian embraces him. Knowing that despite all his work he could still sense that Hua Cheng was nervous on whether Meng Ai would actually love it. But knowing her and knowing how she actually is when she is safe and happy, deep down Xie Lian knows Meng Ai would love it because Hua Cheng made it for her.
"San Lang, do you want to give it to her before her birthday in a few days? That way she could move in and if there are any changes she'd like you would know right away?" Hua Cheng couldn't help but gaze lovingly at him. Xie Lian always seemed to know what to say to relieve his worries.
"I would love that Gege." He bends down and they share a chaste but sweet kiss as their foreheads press against each other.
"Let's reinforce the wards so that we won't have to worry about any of them finding her and taking her away."
"I couldn't agree more Gege."
Three days before her actual birthday, while the rest of the world was in the midst of the week long Mid Autumn Festival, they lead her to the cottage. Ruoye once again acting as a blindfold. This time on Meng Ai whose hands were held by Xie Lian and Hua Cheng.
"I thought we would be staying in Paradise Manor?"
"We are still staying there. But you need to also be within the mortal world since its not good for a mortal to stay in Ghost City for too long." Hua Cheng explains as they guide her.
"Even when you and Xie Lian placed power on my necklace?"
"Even the powers of your necklace needs to rest and replenish every once in a while Meng Ai." Xie Lian says as they stop on front of the cottage and Ruoye unwinds itself as it goes back inside Xie Lian's sleeve.
When her eyes opened she couldn't contain her delight and hugged both of them.
"Can we go inside please?" They both laugh as she pulls them both to the door. Someone else would think that she was trying to convince them to buy the cottage.
"We have a few more surprises for you." Hua Cheng says as Xie Lian holds his hand to help with his nervousness.
Only for a few minutes as they here squeals of delight as she enters her room.
"Is - is this really for me? THANK YOU SO MUCH!" She drags them both inside as she jumps on the bed.
"Of course this is for you little one." Hua Cheng chuckles as he finds himself laying down on one side of the bed, Xie Lian on the other and Meng Ai laying down in between them with her facing him.
"Does this mean you wouldn't mind if I'm your daughter? Is it okay if I call you two Baba Lian and Baba Lang?" She asks nervously. A part of her is scared at still being rejected. But the love on both of their faces made her feel happy and safe.
She wasn't losing anyone, she's gaining more people who will love her.
"You are our daughter Xiao Ai." Xie Lian says as he leans on one arm.
"We both want you to be our daughter." After he said this Hua Cheng felt his anxiety fade away as their daughter, their Xiao Ai laughed with joy.
______________________________________________________________
The morning of the 21st of September had finally arrived.
Chenxi in disguise as one of her mother's priestesses arrives at the entrance of Paradise Manor. At the entrance was Meng Ai holding Chang-Chang who now had a blue collar around her neck. Behind her were her four parents and her three baby sitters. Everyone except Meng Ai instantly knew who she was. Meng Ai could sense she was a God but couldn't tell which one.
"Are you Xiwangmu?" She asks as she held Chang-Chang back.
"No, but she's very important to me. And I believe you have a pet offering for her."
"Will Chang-Chang be safe?" Chenxi smiles as she nods.
"I will personally make sure she is. Xiwangmu will love her. She knows you've been working hard on raising Chang-Chang." Meng Ai nods and makes Chang-Chang face her.
"You be good okay? I'll visit you if I can." She couldn't help but cry as she embraces Chang-Chang one last time. All the sleepless nights, all the time spent raising and loving her and training her...it will be over now but she knows it's because the priests and priestesses of Xiwangmu could better take care of Chang-Chang than she could.
Is that why it still hurts?
Chang-Chang sensing her sadness nuzzles her one last time as she gives her to Xiwangmu's priestess who now also carries treats and food for Chang-Chang.
"I'll be back later for your party tonight little Meng Ai. I'll just make sure Chang-Chang is safe." Chenxi smiles reassuringly as she escorts Chang-Chang to her mother's temple. There she will join all of her other pets offered to live a natural life.
"Mama it hurts." Chenxi smiles as she overhears her. Ji Huifen and Jing Mei did a great job at showing her that even they are going to be grieving. Grieving at the chance of not being the ones who will raise her. Even though they all know this is for the best, it doesn't mean that it didn't hurt.
A lesson that she herself had to learn the hard way.
She tucks that in the corner of her mind as she makes her way to the temple. There will be plenty of that when Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen ask her about that time in her life. Today was a day of celebration and she intends to keep it that way.
Once the sun had set Meng Ai's birthday celebration has begun. The guests being restricted to those she has already met but it was still more than just her parents.
While there were games that entertained her if you were to ask Meng Ai what the highlight of the night would be, it's that she got to eat all three flavors of mooncake.
"We didn't want to keep fighting what was the best flavor so we decided to give you all three." Hua Cheng couldn't help but rebut this as Feng Xin and Mu Qing gives Meng Ai their Go set gift.
"You're right, you and Nan Yang would prefer to fight over more petty things for the fun of it now."
"Pardon me!"
"Now now it's Xiao Ai's birthday."
"Hey Meng Ai, I've got you something!" Sensing another argument may happen Shi Qingxuan immediately interrupts by giving Meng Ai their present.
"Shi Qingxuan how were you able to bring a Guquin here without us noticing?" Feng Xin asks suspiciously and Shi Qingxuan couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"Hey I still know and use magic, it's just not the same as before but obviously I am still highly capable for your information."
"And speaking of musical instruments." Ji Huifan and Jing Mei present their own gift, the Guzheng.
"I can finally learn the Guzheng and the Guquin. Oh it's so beautiful."
"This is the Guzheng I was playing when your father first met me." Jing Mei says as she begins playing a simple tune that gradually began to become more and more complex.
"It was once my mother's, and now it is yours Aiai."
"But-but how did you get it here?"
"We had some help." Ji Huifan says as he bends down and kisses Meng Ai's forehead.
"Remember, never stop learning. We will always be with you no matter what." She smiles as she embraces them.
"Thank you mama, thank you baba."
Now having experienced a pain similar to theirs she kisses both of them on the cheek.
And for the rest of the night, there was lively music heard in Paradise Manor celebrating the latest member of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian's family.
AN: I had to end it there for now because Chenxi's assessment and conversation with Fengqing would take place as everyone else is busy.
Zufu - Formal way of saying grandfather (at least according to google)
Mei mei - little sister
Ji - Hope, Lihua - Pear blossom
Chang-Chang - Flourishing (I found this in a site for chinese names for female dogs [ https://www.pupnames.com/dog-names/chinese/female ] )
I wanted to give Chang-Chang more scenes but I'm not too experienced with pigs as pets to contribute specific scenes.
I was so inspired and guided by the reconciliation scene in the story "A Splinter in the Heart" by theearlymorningmist (read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54114421/chapters/137010871) although I will be approaching Lang Qianqiu reconciling with Xie Lian more gradually in this story. They'll still have the big heart to heart reconciliation talk but I feel Lang Qianqiu has to gradually be ready for it and needs to understand what it's like raising a kid first. Also just to make things clear - Lang Qianqiu is Meng Ai's love interest but I won't let them meet till after she grows up.

RULES.
Hi, Janice here and I am finally writing some rules. It is a short thing, just putting things that I think that are very important. If I think of more, I will definitely add it here. I am a pretty nice and chill person. I love screaming about our muses and their interactions. I am an absolute angst lover.
General rules & quality of life.
This blog is semi-selective & independent. Activity varies from to to week basis since I don’t have a set work schedule. Most of the IC interaction will most like be with mutuals since it is better for me tracking wise.
AU and OC’s are always welcomed and encouraged, especially if we have discussed it previously. (I have yet to write down all the different verses Robin is part off, so If you ever have any questions about them, please don’t be afraid to ask.)
NSFW content is present in this blog. I will always try to tag everything accordingly but as a general rule interaction as will be discussed before hand. Because of that it is advice to be 18+ and over. Any interaction with a minor will lack any sensitive material. Anyone lying about their age in search of NFSW interaction will be blocked! On the tagging topic, for the most part I don’t have any triggers, but if you aren’t so sure about something and you wish to discuss it before hand you can always contact me. (the best way to do it is on discord. Tumblr IMS are glitchy for me tbh)
Very important, my inbox, asks are always welcome, IC (obviously if we are mutuals I will reply to it eventually) and OOC (especially if you wanna know more about my take on Robin). My anon are one but as a general rule: don’t abuse it. I’ve received a few ill intended messages. If they were to continue, I will definitely turn off anon.
For the most part this blog is multi-ship. I love discovering dynamics and if our muses click, expect me sending you cute lil things and musing about them. But if that’s something you aren’t too keen on, please let me know. The last thing I would like is to be a bother to you.
If I reply to an ask and you like to reply to it, please do. If you like it but you just want to reblog it, you are more than welcome to do so. I really don’t mind. And on that note, I’m not really on the reblog karma thing, If you want to reblog a meme from me, please do it. If you did it by accident? Please know I will not be made about it.
As established before, activity will vary weekly because of work but I will like to say that it will also be dependent on how I am feeling my muse. Hyper-fixation of certain topics prompt me to reply immediately, while sometimes I might not feel motivated to write. I try as much as I can to reply to all my drafts and inbox. Rarely do I clear my inbox so if you sent me something, I will most likely respond to it, eventually.
My mental health is slowly getting into a good place but sometimes the decline comes and my activity might become less. Even if I am not writing, I always love to discuss and plot, actually gives me motivation and serotonin to come back. But it is important that you know that I do this for fun, if you start pressuring me for replies I am going to call you out on it.
ABOUT SHIPPING:
I love to write various different ships. I love the discovery of something new. That said, please don’t force any ships for my muse. Chemistry is very important in any type of relationship. Be the romantic type or even a friendship. I love it when our muses vibe.
Robin is written as demi-sexual. Connection is truly important and the first step to have any sort of relationship.
I am open to a list of dynamics, from slight toxic and age gaps (muses need to be of age of course) Enemies to lovers… anything that gives me drama and angst. When I think of more I’ll write it down.
NFSW memes are open to people I ship with.
I have a bias for these ships: LawBin and Frobin but that doesn’t mean I won’t write anything else. Frankly I’ve been wanting to write Robin x Crocodile.
I am probably missing some things, but I couldn't figure it out. I think I've said like a million times already, but I will add anything that comes to mind.

THE MUN.
✦┊ for starters, thank you kindly for stopping by! you may know me in the past as mishka, or cryptid, but lately i go by grass. i am 32 years old and typically refer to myself as he/they pronouns. ✧┊ i have been roleplaying off and on for well over 14 years. i give up trying to keep track of how long with each year that passes. i also do a lot of world building and drawing as well and both will most certainly play a big part on my blogs. ✧┊ i am an extremely slow roleplayer. it has taken me over a month to reply to some threads/asks. it has nothing to do with anyone. it’s just how i write. i am sorry if this is annoying to people, but roleplaying is my HOBBY. i let my muse/s take the reins more often than not and if they are not feeling it then i’m not going to force them, nor will i force myself. ✦┊ if it’s been over a week since i replied to something and you want to know if i saw it and/or curious if i am still interested in doing anything with it, then by all means ask!! i lose track of things, lose it in my notifications, don’t see it at all, or i forget to draft it. ✧┊ i have decided to become more of a minimalist roleplayer. i will probably not use icons anymore and will hardly format my posts. the most that will happen is small font and an on-post tag to my partner. that’s really it. ✦┊ i read everyone’s rules when i decide to follow them. that doesn’t mean i will remember every detail because let’s face it, there are many people that come and go with many different rules and sometimes shit gets mixed up. it happens! if i accidentally break a rule, or cross a line do let me know! i’ll do my best not to do it again. i’m also not big on passwords, so if i follow and don’t like. send in your password, then please don’t take it the wrong way! i’m just nervous and makes me feel weird? idk lmfao
INTERACTING // CONTENT.
✧┊ this is a multi-ship/multi-fandom/multi-verse roleplay blog for various fandoms && muses. this is my only blog now because i’m tired™ of dealing with multiple blogs, so now all of my trash is in one place :D ✦┊ i am very much an adult™ that enjoys writing a lot of adult themes. there are also many fandoms present with said adult themes. there will no doubt be triggers here. whenever they do, {{whether it be dubcon/noncon, bestiality, gore, torture, etc}} they will be tagged with the following; ‘tw: (name of content)’ you are more than welcome to pop into my ims/asks and let me know if you need something tagged that already isn’t tagged! ✧┊ majority of the headcanons and writing found on this blog belongs to me. i have spent many years developng these characters by myself and with various partners along the way. while i don’t mind you using some things, i would kindly ask that you do not steal, nor take credit for these things. this extends to any graphics/edits/art i end up making at any given time unless you have explicit permission from myself to use them. ✧┊ while i may be mutuals only, that’s kind of a lose term with me. i don’t mind writing with you if we have not followed eachother! this also applies to interacting ooc with one another. just do it!! ✦┊ i may prefer writing multi-para threads, but i am totally fine with writing smaller things! this goes for sentences, single para, and everything in between. third person is where it’s at, though i do not mind what style you write in. i’m also totally open to art based roleplays! all ya gotta do is ask. ✧┊ i will do aus, though some crossovers might be turned down if i am a.) not to confident in my abilities to work with that crossover, or b.) not part or do not know enough of a certain fandom. that goes for any muses you’d like to request of me. i’m comfy enough to try writing a muse that isn’t present on my blog/s. ✦┊ i would prefer to keep ims strictly for ooc and plotting purposes, but if you’d like to rp somewhere else then i am open to writing on discord! all ya gotta do is ask and we can work something out. i’m also completely ok with any sort of asks! like even if you just wanna chat with me ooc and shit then please come talk with me! i am always down for some chill time to get to know my rp partners any time!
last, but not least do have fun!! this is a roleplay/ask blog. it’s meant to be a fun experience. it is a hobby and i am going to treat it as such.

General unreality warning for this blog, given it's Pokéblogging.
Hello, it's Ace (adult, she/him pronouns) back again with another blog! Any follows and likes related to this blog will come from @aceoflilies.
This blog is multi-muse, will generally stick to PMD canon with a few headcanons to fill in gaps (as you can see in some character's descriptions!), and should, generally speaking, be low-stakes. That being said, interaction is absolutely welcome! Send them asks, reblog their posts, even DM me if you'd like to set up some sort of plot.
(Side note: Please don't send in any NSFW asks to this blog. They're Pokémon.)
Each post will be tagged with the guild member who's writing it (e.g. #Sunflora posting). Asks will be tagged #ask the guild, and any spoilers for PMD: Explorers (Past The Mystery of Fogbound Lake) will be tagged #explorers spoilers . There may be special guests who come in at some points, who would also be tagged (say, #team tasty posting). Any OOC posts will be tagged //ooc post, //ooc ask, or //ooc rb (or //ooc reblog). OOC comments are denotated with //.
Think that should be everything for now! Thanks for reading!

The Emperor's Decrees;
Rules to live by if you wish to interact with everyone's favorite, most handsome Disney Princess Emperor!
PORTRAYAL: I play Kuzco as close to canon as possible, following the events of both the movie & the television show. He is based off of the idea that after the events of the movie, Yzma altered documents stating that unless Kuzco took a bride, or earned an education he would not be fit to become Emperor in a bid to take over the throne once more. He was subsequently booted out of the palace & into school to earn a proper education amongst peasants his own age. My portrayal takes place after his graduation & reclaiming the throne but I am very comfortable jumping around to just about any point in his story. Let me know what you prefer, or if you’re only familiar with the movie & I’ll be happy to work around it!
SHIPPING; This account is multi-ship. I’m all for shipping & developing a relationship between characters, but I’m a big believer in allowing that relationship to develop organically. I prefer for it to happen over the course of our story-lines, after chemistry builds up.
MAINS; I will have mains, & am looking for any & all connections from The Emperor’s New Groove/School franchise! I am always open to the possibility of building up relationships, & am looking for mains from any & all other verses as well. MUN: Mun is 21+ & will NOT write with anyone under the age of 21.
Mun also has a life outside of roleplay, with a full time career & is not available 24/7 to write, as unfortunate as that may be. I may choose to be selective & only reply to certain people at certain times, it’s nothing against you! It may just be that I can’t concentrate on something longer at the moment, or that I have muse for a certain SL. Please do not be offended by it.
Real life will always come first & foremost to me, & I will NEVER rush or heckle anyone for replies. I would hope for the same respect & treatment from you! I DO NOT & will NEVER tolerate hate or drama under any circumstances. Leave me out of it. PERSONAL BLOGS; I welcome anyone & everyone to follow me, but I will only interact with roleplay blogs. To keep my dash clean since I’m still trying to get used to Tumblr, I will not follow personal blogs back.
DM’S/DISCORD; My DM’s are always open for my mutuals, & my INBOX is open for everyone else! Please do not ever hesitate to shoot me a message or an ask & I’ll do my best to reply in a timely manner! Discord is available for plotting & banter as well, just shoot me a DM to ask for it!
DARK/MATURE/NSFW; I’m open to all themes including Mature, Fantasy, NSFW, Horror etc. For mature, NSFW or horror roleplay, I’d like to discuss the storyline first! I do not tend to write NSFW very often but if it comes up organically in a SL I do not have an issue with it.
TRIGGERS; I personally do not have any RP triggers, but if you do please feel free to reach out & let me know so I can tag them accordingly! WRITING; My favored style of writing is multi-para, but I’ve been known to slip into novella pretty easily when trying to describe a scene & character actions in detail. I’m also a HUGE fan of banter! It’s a great way to develop a character, & to break the ice with other characters as well. Please don’t ever hesitate to tag me in random banter, or a meme or anything, honestly. I live for that kind of thing.
MIRRORED WRITING: Please do not ever feel the need to match my writing style or length, I tend to get excited & ramble which can lead a banter into a novella pretty easily. Likewise, I will try to mirror your writing detail the best I can to make things easier for us both!
GODMODDING; This should be obvious, but I do not condone god-modding or character control of any kind. You control your character, & I will control mine. If a plot calls for the use of mind control or some other similar thing, I would like to discuss it ahead of time.
OOC; Will update & fix this up better later.

RULES BENEATH THE CUT
ONE. THIS BLOG IS 18+ AND THIS IS YOUR WARNING. Depending on the verse, Corey is a KILLER. Murder, torture, mutilation, blood, gore, and the like will be present on this blog. I will tag anything visually that includes things like that, but with writing it depends on how graphic it is. Triggers are tagged as __ //. I don't have any specific triggers, but if you do, please let me know. Lastly, on the topic of smut. It won't be under readmore unless my partner does it first. Also I won't hold off my smut stuff for Sunday and will post stuff like that on main. Whenever I'm in the mood for it, it'll happen.
TWO. Honestly, I'm all kinds of shipping trash. If there's a chance you ship, I probably ship it too! I'm a fan of all kind of ships as well. Romantic, platonic, antagonistic, and everything else in between. But do keep in mind that some ships can be quite unhealthy after Corey's interaction with Michael. Corey is obsessive and possessive and ready to be violent if needed. Not to mention he's very manipulative. Yeah, unhealthy all around depending on the verse.
THREE. I am mutuals only and that's how I'll stick for my own comfort. I follow whoever I want and I wish for that to be respected. Don't ask me why I didn't follow you back. Don't follow, unfollow, follow again in order for me to follow you back. If I didn't follow you back, that's that. Don't make me have to block you, and I hate having to block people. Mutuals are free to send in inbox memes that focus on interactions between muses and continue them from that ask post! Non-mutuals are free to send in ooc questions and headcanon things. Mutuals are also free to ask for my discord and talk to me in the IMs. Mutuals are also free to reblog musings posts and graphics things I may post!
FOUR. I make every single graphic on this blog. The icon borders, the PSD, and everything else. Don't steal my stuff, thanks. I've recently been experimenting with formatting. I've been having fun bolding, italicizing, underlining, and using colored font. I also double space and haven't been using small font. So if none of that sounds interesting to you, I would recommend not following.

Golden Boy (Izuku x Reader)
Masterlist
Pairing: Izuku x Reader
Summary: Izuku was a nice boy, except when it came to you. Yup, UA’s golden boy really knew how to treat a slut like you.
Content Warnings: Dubcon, slight noncon, dacryphilia, size kink, face fucking, overstimulation, creampie, degradation, humiliation, spit kink, choking, finger choking, pet names, ooc izuku
Word Count: 5.6k
A/N: I got SCARY h-word over this man and decided that I literally wanted him to hurt me and spit in my mouth. He’s too nice to not be a fucking freak, goodbye.
Anyway, thank you to @eremiie , @mikaberries , and @veroyktv for beta-reading this!! I appreciate y’all !
Izuku tormented you all through high school. It was almost shameful to admit the way that his gentle teases melted into something far more sinister as the weeks bled into months and years. What started as subtle comments turned into outright taunts and then the contactless threats no longer remained empty.
No one believed you. And who would?
Izuku was a model student and a good friend, someone with a kind disposition who wanted nothing more than to become the greatest hero. What reason could he possibly have to bully you? You’d never done anything to him.
But he did. For three years he mercilessly taunted you and it only got worse your final year.
Izuku would pinch at your thighs, sneering at you in the hallways when no one was looking. He’d snake his hand up your skirt and squeeze the supple flesh hard enough to leave bruises that eventually littered the entire inside of your thigh. They looked incredibly vulgar and Izuku would torment you about it endlessly, despite knowing that he’s the one who left them.
He’d crowd you against the lockers after most people had gone home, knowing you’d be there late after your tutoring sessions.
“Tsk. Quite some marks you’ve got there.” He’d say, stepping up to you, his broad shoulders squared, a half smile creeping onto his face as his eyes studied the inside of your thighs. The marks littered the otherwise smooth skin, visible when looking at you from the front.
“You get them from slutting yourself out?” Izuku would ask, stepping toward you again. “Y’look like a bit of a whore, don’t you?”
He’d lean in close to your ear, venom seeping into each of his words as he cornered you. His hand crept up your skirt, eyes trained on yours which widened with fear as he pinched down, relishing in the yelp of pain that escaped you.
You wondered how someone like Izuku could make you feel so small and so insignificant. You couldn’t even bat his hand away as he made a fool of you, pinching at the inside of your leg with thick, calloused, and scarred fingers. It didn’t matter how tall or strong you were because it always seemed that Izuku was bigger, domineering in attitude and words. He really did know how to reduce you to a helpless thing.
It seemed Izuku was growing more desperate by the day as graduation gradually crept closer. It was like he made less of an effort to hide it, blowing into your ear and whispering vile shit to you while in class, things that would make anyone squirm in their seat. He’d start bumping into you, singling you out, making an effort to get you noticed by his friends so he could have you as a little plaything whenever they hung out.
And you let him. You let him make a toy out of you, tagging along with Iida, Uraraka, and Asui on Saturday outings, letting Izuku pinch and prod at you from across a restaurant table.
The truth was, Izuku Midoriya fucking terrified you.
So you couldn’t say no to him. To everyone else you looked like nothing more or less than one of his many admirable friends. Promising quirk and a promising future, what a match for UA’s golden boy.
You were at your wits end and by the time graduation rolled around. No one listened to you. Hell, people often brushed off Izuku’s very genuine threats as classic childhood teasing. “You’re such a good sport!” they’d say as Izuku patted your back, laughing an all too cheery “just kidding!”
How were you supposed to focus on graduation day, all dolled up in your cap and gown, unwilling to admit to yourself that maybe it was for him? Still, you found yourself automatically flinching whenever Izuku came around, eyes following him across the lawn as he ignored you in favor of photos. Izuku had a promising job offer waiting for him, and his many awards won during the ceremony earned him several congratulatory handshakes as well as pictures for the school’s newsletter.
Still, he’d catch your eye when smiling for the camera, an all to familiar glint in them. His smile made you sick to your stomach, made it churn in the worst of ways. It was doing back flips as he stalked across the lawn towards you until his sturdy frame was against yours. He leaned down, lips brushing beside your ear to whisper one final taunt.
“It’s a shame you’re not wearing that little skirt of yours,” Izuku breathed, eyes flitting over the cap and gown. “Would have liked to pinch those skank thighs of yours one last time. S’what you deserve.”
And then he stood there, watching the way tears began to crowd your waterline, threatening to spill over as three years of tormentation came to what felt like an underwhelming head. Izuku tilted his head, watching the way water stained your made-up cheeks, before taking his thumb and wiping the tears from your eyes.
“Don’t cry, doll.” He taunted, voice far too sweet for the words that fell from his lips. “I’m not near done with you yet.”
Why was his tone so comforting? So confusing that you weren’t sure if it was dread or relief that filled your senses, ears suddenly feeling clogged with water. Your eyes darted from his to anyone on the lawn who could see you, who might be watching as Izuku pushed you to tears with only a few words, until you caught Bakugou’s gaze.
Ah, Bakugou Katsuki, someone who’s done to Izuku what he does to you. It’s a bit of a fucked up little triangle because while Izuku was bullied by him and you are bullied by Izuku, you couldn’t help but hope that Bakugou would be the one taunting you, the one pinching your thighs. At least that’s what you told yourself. Maybe he’d help you, after all, he was probably the only person who’d believe you in the first place.
So once Izuku had wiped your tears with a condescending thumb and left to go partake of other party activities, you pulled Katsuki aside by the shoulder, fingers digging into the meat of his bicep.
“What in th- you?! The fuck are you doing?” Bakugou asked, eyebrows furrowed in the permanent scowl that he wore so frequently.
“Sh, look please just, hear me out.” You spoke, voice hushed as your eyes shifted around. You had the feeling that if Izu saw you with him, you’d be in for it. “I just- I really need help.”
Bakugou was about to scoff, was about to roll his eyes and walk away until he saw the redness under your eyes that the makeup couldn’t hide. The way you sniffled slightly as you asked and the way you looked to the floor. He’d never seen you like this, almost broken. It was something he’d seen often in Izuku, but something about seeing you like this made him ache.
“What?” He responded, trying not to seem too invested.
“It’s Midoriya.” Your voice grew quiet, almost in shame as you spoke the formal version of his name.
“And?” Bakugou was impatient. He cared about you but not enough to sit here for five minutes while you stuttered. “Spit it out.”
“He- he won’t leave me alone.” The words tumble from your lips so fast and before you know it, your hands are balled into fists on his chest, the material of his gown scrunched inside them in a plea. “He’s a nightmare, he pinches me and says the most awful shit to me. I- I mean, the inside of my legs and thighs are littered with bruises and n-no one believes me.”
“Midoriya? As in, ‘shitty deku’ Midoriya?” Bakugou takes a step back in slight shock.
“Yes!” You shout, far louder than you intended, pulling him closer slightly as you hush your tone in a whisper. “What the fuck am I supposed to do?”
He nudged you off of him, brushing off his gown. Bakugou would be lying if he said it didn’t make his blood boil. Sure, him and Midoriya had buried the hatchet a long time ago but he still wanted dirt on the guy, plus he thought it was a coward move for him to bully someone as pretty as you. Though after seeing the way your eyes get wide in fear, he can’t say that it wasn’t incredibly tempting. There was something enticing about how you looked when you begged, no doubt Izuku saw it too.
“You’re too sensitive.” He scoffed, meeting you gaze and watching the way your expression fell. “What you do is graduate and forget about that shitty extra. There’s really nothing else to it.”
You reached for him again out of habit this time, like if he turned around now you’d really be thrown to the wolves.
“N-no, Bakugou, please.” You plead again, tears once again gathering in the corners of your eyes. “I-I can’t. I just need help.”
Oh, he gets it now.
He sees what makes you so appealing, what makes it so easy to walk all over you. You looked pretty when you cried. So he leaned in, his scowl turning into a smirk before speaking again.
“No.” Bakugou’s smirk turned into an outright grin, eyes crinkling at the corners before he stood back up. “I graduated. Shitty Deku is your problem, not mine. Deal with it yourself. Just stop talking to him or whatever.”
And with a wave of his hand he was off, walking towards his group of friends. Well, there goes your life line, the one person who actually believed that Izuku was tormenting you wouldn’t even lend you a helping hand. You supposed it was too much to hope though, and he was right, you could forget… stop talking to him. Why did the idea of that suck almost as much as staying under this thumb?
“____!” Bunette locks bounced as your friend came towards you, hand outstretched in a wave before she pulled you into a hug. “We’re all going to Midoriya’s place to celebrate graduating, come with?”
You liked Uraraka. Well, you actually liked all of Izuku’s friends. They were sweet and honestly none-the-wiser to Izuku’s torments and taunts. She wore the kindest smile, eyes bright with the excitement of finally starting her adult life.
You glanced at the rest of them, eyes flitting around friendly faces until your gaze met Izuku’s. He looked upset, eyebrows furrowed slightly and eyes cold as he stood there. They all agreed, urging you to go before Izuku spoke up, smiling gently at you over the top of Uraraka’s head.
“You should come. We’ll miss you if you don’t.” The rest of the group nods their agreement, but it wasn’t them that pulled the small okay from your lips. It was Izuku, the way his eyes had a threatening glint to them as he spoke, a smile creeping into them in the most unsettling of ways. Your stomach was turning again, twisting over and over because something about the way Izuku looked at you made you squirm.
“Yay! Okay, we’re all gonna meet there after!” She smiled, taking your hands in hers and giving a small squeal. “It’s gonna be so fun!”
And with that she was bouncing off with Asui in the direction of Kaminari and Kirishima.
Izuku stayed behind, walking slower than his friends so he could bend down to speak to you. You could feel his breath against your neck as he spoke, words sending shivers down your spine. Despite the way your heart hammered against your rib cage, you tilted your head to hear him better.
“You better be there, doll.” He muttered. “It’ll be worse for you if you’re not. Be a good girl for once, yeah?”
He sounded more upset than usual, hand coming up to squeeze your shoulder hard enough to make you flinch, and when you looked up to meet his eyes, he didn’t wear his standard grin. Izuku looked angry, furious even. It made your skin crawl, made heat creep up your neck and onto your cheeks so furiously that you found it hard to see through.
All you could do was nod, fighting the pout that tried so hard to paint your face. You squeezed your thighs together instinctively at the phrase. He never praised you, not even once. Hearing the words “good girl” drip from his lips so angrily made them fly shamefully south. He gave a small laugh before walking off. It was almost like he knew, leaving you to rub at your sore shoulder.
---
Why were you here? You could have just not come and then you never would have had to see Izuku again, never would have had to deal with him until one day in the future when you’re too successful a hero to pinch. Still, you wouldn’t admit it to yourself or anyone else, but you might miss him. The teasing was a nightmare but it was attention, something that reminded you that at least Izuku still saw you.
He couldn’t be ignoring you if he was calling you a slut.
You arrived after everyone and Izuku opened the door for you with a jeering grin before stepping aside to let you in, pinching at your thigh again. He noticed immediately that you wore a skirt and he didn’t have to wonder why. It was an invitation for him, of course.
You’d actually never been to Izuku’s house, so sitting in his living room eating snacks and drinking was unusual to say the least. It was surprising because beyond pinching you in the doorway, Izuku was being oddly kind.
He sat next to you, his thigh pressed against yours, but he didn’t try anything. Didn’t whisper in your ear or grab at the fat on your side. You couldn’t help but ask yourself why. Even as the latter half of the day droned on, you were on edge despite being treated, finally, like one of the group. What did you do wrong? Was he no longer interested in you? Most importantly though, why were you upset that he wasn’t pushing your buttons?
The end of the day came quickly, dark settling over the house while everyone gathered their things to leave. You’d all walk home together, leaving Izuku alone in his house. He smiled as everyone waved goodbye, bittersweet tears in his eyes as his final high school hang out came to a close. He cried at the ceremony while delivering his speech and then again at his house while Uraraka babbled on about her appreciation of UA. You can’t say you felt the same.
“Not ____.” He said as you slipped on your shoes, placing a hand on your shoulder. “I’ll walk her home since she lives in the opposite direction. Plus, I gotta give her something.”
Izuku smiles at his friends, who all nod their understanding. They wouldn’t suspect that he’d do anything wrong, that he’d be keeping you behind to maybe, finally, torment you. What a fucked up way of thinking. The door to his house clicked shut and your blood ran far colder than you thought it would as he approached you.
“What’s wrong, doll?” He taunted, a fake pout adorning his features. “Thought I’d let you off easy? After today?”
Izuku raised an eyebrow before rolling his eyes at the realization that you don’t know what he’s talking about.
“Wow, you really are a slut aren’t you? Clinging to Bakugou so shamelessly today?” He scowled looked over you.
Your eyes widened, lips parting as you remembered grabbing at Bakugou’s shirt, pulling him towards you earlier that day in a plea for help.
“Did you think he would help you?” He sneered. “Bakugou’s just like me. He doesn’t care about a whore like you. Did you think that if you pushed against him like that he’d cave? Fold because your perfect body was flush on him?”
Izuku took your face between his pointer and thumb, spitting venom at you, waiting for you to respond. His compliment flew over your head.
“N-no.” Yes. “I swear Izuku… I- I didn’t-”
“You- you- you didn’t what?” Izuku responded, mocking your miserable stutter. “You’re my toy. Pisses me off when you let other people play with you.”
And then he’s dragging you towards his room, pulling you into the cramped space and closing the door behind him. He’s muttering like he usually does, pushing you onto his bed so you’re sitting on the edge.
Why were you so relieved right now? Why was your cunt already sticky with arousal? Why did every single word he was saying to you go straight south? You take your bottom lip between your teeth trying to find a way to shake your head in protest— to get up and leave— but the movement just wouldn’t come. Instead, you hang your head, eyebrows pulled up and cheeks flushed with heat as he stares you down.
“Why are you doing this?” Your voice is barely a whisper, hardly audible over the sound of his frustrated breathing and your own rampant heart beat. “I’ve never done anything to you.”
Izuku scoffed this time, stepping forward and taking your face in his hands again.
“Haven’t done anything?” His words are venomous and his face is inches from yours, hot breath fanning across your cheeks. Were his hands always this big? “Dressing like that and saying you ‘haven’t done anything’?”
His eyes flit down to the fat of your thighs, free hand groping the flesh hungrily, hard enough that it had you sucking in a sharp breath. Izuku couldn’t take it anymore, squeezing your cheeks and pressing his lips to yours in an aggressive kiss.
Truth was, you drove Izuku batshit crazy. Right from the moment he saw you he could hardly contain himself, prancing around in that tiny fucking skirt with an ass like that. Daring to act so innocent when he was gripping the edge of his desk to keep from pouncing on you as you introduced yourself to him, as you hung all over his middle school bully, or as you flashed your hot pink panties while in class.
To him, you were asking for it and the way you played dumb only made his blood boil further. Izuku was a nice boy, always had been, but the day that he made you cry, telling you that you kind of looked like a slut in your skirt, was the day he knew that he’d have way too much fun with you.
Your eyes got so big, welled up so quickly with tears that he knew were caused by him. It made him proud, made his chest swell at how quickly he could completely ruin your day. This must be how Bakugou felt, to some degree, except chances are that he wasn’t thinking about what your puffy, swollen lips might look like when you’re choking on his cock.
He’d been thinking about it since he met you. Pushing you further and further because you were just so fucking cute when you cried and if he couldn’t consume your thoughts because you like him, then he’d have to settle for consuming them because you’re afraid of him.
You grunted against him, eyes going wide as his lips crashed into yours. You were spinning, heart pounding as his tongue dipped into your mouth hungrily. He pulled away from you quickly.
“Drive me fuckin’ crazy, looking like that.” Izuku seethed. “If you’re gonna play clueless, y’might as well make use of yourself. S’what you deserve.”
And without asking he pushed you from the bed and onto your knees in front of him. You knew where it was going, knew that Izuku wasn’t going to let up because this boundary was being crossed. Still, you shamefully rubbed your thighs together, blinking up at him in confusion and arousal.
“Such a whore.” He said, freeing his cock from his pants and letting it slap against his stomach. Izuku relished in the way your eyes widened, in the way you unconsciously licked your lips. And then he’s tapping the side of your mouth with his cock, head tilted back in a taunt as he watches the way your eyes brim with premature tears. He’d show you real crying.
“Suck it.” A simple command, but one that had you shivering. He kept his hand on your shoulder while his fingers dug into it with a force that was all too familiar. is cock throbbed in his hands as you sniffled and parted those pretty, glossed lips.
Izuku didn’t wait, no, he couldn’t wait, pushing his full length to the back of your throat and beyond, groaning when it entered the tight, wet space beyond your mouth. His head fell back and his mouth fell open at the way you choked on him. Tears forced their way out of your eyes and down your cheeks as he began fucking your mouth.
“Y-you’re a real crybaby, huh?” He cooed, a lazy half-smirk gracing his face. “You did this to yourself. Such– a fucking– tease.”
He accentuated his words with harsh thrusts into your throat, drool pooling in your mouth and dribbling down his cock to his balls. It ran down your chin, mingling with tears as he continued to fuck your throat.
Izuku was big, far bigger than you expected him to be. He completely filled your throat, stretching your unprepared mouth open. You could feel the sides of your mouth pulling at his size, lips cracking as you struggled to take all of him with each of his thrusts. Still, when you looked up at him through big teary eyes, knees growing sore from the way his fist held you to the floor, other hand pulling you against his cock, your cunt grew wet with arousal.
He pulled you off him by your hair, watching the way you gasped and sputtered and sobbed. He loved the scratch in your throat as you coughed and he picked you up by the arm and crawled between your legs.
“Wearing such a tiny skirt to my house.” He spit. “You knew what you were doing, lookin’ like that with your ass out and shit.”
Izuku’s eyes scanned over you hungrily, like he’s been waiting to get you here for so long. Fuck, he still looked big, hovering over you and supporting his entire weight on one of his arms as his other hand wandered down. He flipped up the fabric of your skirt, admiring the way you flinched as his hand ran up your inner thigh.
His hands ran over your figure, squeezing at the fat of your stomach, thighs, and chest. Izuku has been dying to get a piece of you since you met, since he first laid eyes on that frustratingly sexy figure of yours that led him to spiral to this moment. His hands dipped back to your inner thigh, ensuring that your skirt was out of the way, though it was so small already that it proved no obstacle at all.
His breathing grew heavy, hand gently gliding along the supple flesh that he’s pinched so many times, marks from your final day of classes still fading. Izuku’s eyebrows were furrowed together as his hands found your panties, touching you over the fabric that was now soaked through. His eyes snapped to you so fast as he pulled the fabric aside with calloused fingers, wasting no time dipping his fingers into your soaking folds.
“You fucking pervert.” He sneered, glancing down to show you just how wet you’d gotten, all for him. “You like it when I’m mean to you? So fucking dirty.”
Izuku rubbed a swift circle around your clit and you brought your arm up to hide your face, biting into your forearm to muffle the sounds. You shook your head, squeaking out a no as his fingers curled up into you.
“You sure about that? You’re dripping.” Izuku grunted, curling his fingers with his entire forearm and hearing a moan from you. “See? Fucking slut, giving me those eyes, like a lost puppy.”
It was undeniable how you clenched around him and he let out a curt laugh of disbelief.
“Oh… you like that name, don’t you, puppy?” He dipped down to bite at your neck, humming into the skin.
You squirm beneath him but he has you caged in under, your legs unable to move around. Your stomach still turned in fear of him, but that fear was mixing with the intense pleasure building in your core. Even his fingers were a stretch and you could feel his thick cock hitting your abdomen with each aggressive curl, your mind consumed with just how good it would feel for him to break you open. After all, he’s chipped away at almost every ounce of self respect you had. In fact, he practically already owned you mentally, now he was just claiming what he should rightfully own physically.
“I hate girls like you.” He spat, fingers picking up their pace as you were sent barrelling towards your high. “Acting like you don’t know what you’re doing to me. So fucking stupid. But look at you now— Your cunt is practically drooling on me— pathetic.”
You were close, hot with arousal as he lifted your arm from your face.
“Getting close huh? I can feel your whore cunt clenching. Y’wanna cum?” He grinned widely through furrowed brows.
Your eyes were glossed over, tears spilling onto your cheeks and for a moment Izuku almost felt bad for you. Still though, you were just too fun to fuck with, too fun to absolutely ruin. You looked prettier than he could have imagined right now; face sticky with tears of arousal, embarrassment, and fear. Izuku was a nice boy, he really was, except when it came to you because now he just couldn’t stop himself from ruining your cunt.
You were close, impossibly close as you bit your lip in an attempt to muffle the whiney yes that breached your lips. It was involuntarily, almost a survival response as his fingers continued making that delicious squelching sound. Those years of torment were beginning to twist. You were beginning to convince yourself that no, it wasn’t so bad, it’s okay to want to cream on his fingers and be his good girl.
So you nodded, dew-filled eyes stricken with fear meeting his predatory ones in a confirmation. He was building you up so well, your stomach turning over and over, the knot tightening and set to break. And then he pulled his fingers from you as you clenched around nothing, a blinding orgasm ripped from you all by his fingers. Your back arched up off the bed and pathetic whines left your lips.
“You’ll have to beg for it.” He smirked, sitting back on his knees, discarding your panties with a hard tug and running the head of his cock through your slick while you whimper. “Tell me you like it. C’mon. I’ll let you cum on my cock if you do.”
Right now you were certain you’d do anything if it meant you were allowed to cream over him, so you parted your lips, hiccuping through broken sobs.
“P-please Izu, need to cum.” Your voice was low and quiet.
Izuku pushed the head of his cock against your entrance, glowering down at you as he pushed the fabric of your shirt up over those perfect tits that he couldn’t get enough of. He sucked in a sharp breath, facade falling for a moment until he brought his eyes back to yours.
“You like it when I’m mean, huh? Lemme hear you say it.” Izuku gave a cruel smile, eyes darkened with lust.
“Yes! Yes, I like it.” You shout, hand coming up to grab his arm, speaking through desperate tears. “Please fuck me, please Izu.”
Izuku bottomed out in one fell swoop, hearing all he needed as he throws his head back, a groan of fucking pathetic falling lazily from his lips. He rolled his head across his shoulders, starting to move in and out of you, stretching your cunt open with each push and pull.
“So fucking tight. You a virgin?” His tongue swiped at his teeth as he relished in the stretch and the way pain wet your cheeks.
God, he fucking hated you. Hated every part of you. He hated the way your lips looked so good around him, the way your thighs squeezed so nicely around his waist, the way your tears only egged him on. It all made him want to hurt you. You brought out the worst in him. You were too fucking tempting, too easy.
You weren’t a virgin but the stretch of his cock made you feel like one. God, you could feel him in your throat as you gripped pathetically at his biceps, a plea to get him to slow down. Izuku wouldn’t listen though, pounding into your gummy walls mercilessly.
“Not gonna answer?” He laughed, low and threatening before folding your knees to your chest. “Tells me all I need to know. How many men have fucked this cunt of yours, huh? Bet it’s more than I can count on one hand.”
Izuku brought his hand up to your face once more, squeezing your plump cheeks together.
“Don’t worry, puppy. Gonna make it so you can’t take anyone else.” He spits in your mouth, forcing it closed. “Fuckin’ mine now, yeah? My little whore, always have been, right?”
You screw your eyes shut, swallowing sloppily as spit drips down your chin and tears streak from your eyes. Where did he learn to speak like this?
“Say it.”
You’re close again, so full of him, so desperate for him to give you what you want. You can’t resist him, so you might as well submit. Maybe it will make everything easier because you were finding it harder to pretend that you didn’t like it now.
“Yours, m’yours.” You choke out, hand flying to his large one to move it over your throat. “Belong only to you.”
Izuku squeezed the sides of your neck with startling force. It’s almost hateful in how strong it was but it made you whine out against him, voice raking against vocal chords that he forced closed.
“Slut. S-such a slut.” He stuttered as you clenched around him, hitting your high with a roll of your hips and a pathetic whimper. “C’mon, gimme it, puppy.”
Oh god, the pay off was unbelievable. The way you whined his name was better than any sob he pulled from you to date. You were so helpless, your body wracking with waves of pleasure and your pussy clamping down around him. This is what he saw in you the first time he made you cry— this expression. He knew you could make it, eyes big and wide, filled with tears and your mouth open in a deep moan. Fuck, he loved it.
“God, so tight. Good puppy, good fucking puppy.” He fucked into you faster, chasing his own high now as he assaulted your overstimulated cunt.
Your head spun, no longer preoccupied with the taunting or the tormenting. You were stupid on his cock, his good little puppy, like you were meant to be. You should have given in earlier, should have let him shove his dick down your throat sooner because even though you were struggling to get off his fat cock, you couldn’t, and you loved every single second of it. Izuku was only mean to you, only mean to his puppy.
You’re so overstimulated, barreling towards another orgasm and now all you can think about is how bad you want him to fill you up.
“C-cum inside.” You managed to choke out between pathetic sobs and whimpers. You’re crying for it, begging. “Please cum inside of me.”
Izuku let out a low chuckle before bottoming out one final time, shoving his thick fingers down your throat and filling you up. When Izuku came, he came a lot. It flooded your cunt before leaking out the sides where he had you split open. Izuku couldn’t hide his true nature for long, his thighs beginning to quiver and a low groan becoming a high pitched whine as he emptied his balls inside of you like he’d been wanting to for so long.
He stayed there for a moment before pulling out of you and crouching down to watch the way he spilled out of you, admiring your ruined pussy and body. You’re stretched out from him, tears staining your cheeks and cunt gaping from his cock.
And then he’s biting at your thighs, marking up the inside of your leg as you can barely manage to push out a squeal. He’s leaving the marks he’s always wanted to. Those pinches on the inside of your leg were a stand in for the ones he’d create with his teeth. He nipped at the sensitive skin before dipping his tongue into your folds to collect the mixture of him and you in his mouth.
Izuku watched the way you twitched as he cleaned you up, admiring the way your legs flinched whenever he ran his tongue over your sensitive clit. He’s much gentler now but his eyes still frightened you when he came up from between your legs to spit the mixture of cum and arousal back into your slightly parted mouth, ordering you to swallow puppy.
When you finally do— too tired and fucked out to think about protesting, he smiles— standing up off the bed and buttoning his pants with a heaving sigh.
Izuku turned back to your form on the bed, watching the way your chest heaved and the way your pleated skirt crowded at your hips, ruined cunt on display and shirt pushed up over your bitten up breasts. He made a mental note to remember to take your clothes off next time.

Appearance Manipulation quirk used on Dabi
Pairing: Dabi x gn!reader Genre: fluff Warnings: none A/N: sorry is Dabi is ooc. I just wanted to make him seem like an actual human being lmao
to be fair, when you met Dabi, you didn’t know he was a villain
you were new to the area and he had approached you as if he was just a regular civilian
you had ended up going on a few dates with him and never thought that going to more secluded areas like the park, beach, mountains, and so on was odd
it wasn’t until later on that you realized who he was but by then, you were already in too deep to deny your feelings for him
so, you kind of join the league of villains??
you don’t fight or anything, you just kind of hangout with them when they aren’t doing any of their evil stuff
one day, a new guy shows up and says he wants to help defeat all of the heroes
his quirk is appearance manipulation, meaning he can change whatever he wants on someone
the league didn’t really care about others knowing who they are since they are normally in hiding anyway but it could be useful in the future to get past security or something
so eventually, Dabi was given a mission where he had to go undercover to gather intel
the guy was informed to help Dabi blend in but Dabi didn’t want him to change his appearance too much
when the man was finished Dabi’s scars were gone, his hair was turned crimson red, and his eyes went from blue to green
his scars are something that makes him stand out in a crowd, so without them and his other features, he looked like just another face in the crowd
you didn’t really like it though. You liked Dabi for Dabi, flaws and strengths alike
Dabi looked at himself in the mirror and just stared for a while
after a minute or so, he looked away and looked indifferent to it all
then again, he normally looks like that. Like he doesn’t care about anything
you know that’s not true though
to help him blend further, Shiggy assigned you to go with him
you were going to deny but A. he’d probably skin you alive if you refused him and B. Dabi was instructed to do nothing but gather intel so it should be okay for you to go
for some reason, they wanted you both to go on a tour at the department of support to find what kind of support tech they have
you didn’t know the details of the mission but it didn’t really matter since you were just there to make Dabi look less suspicious
it overall went really well
no one gave you two a second look and you got the information you needed
instead of just heading straight back to base though, Dabi starts to walk down the sidewalk with you
“Dabi? Where are we going? Shiggy is expecting us,” you speak up when you notice that you both are going the wrong way
when he doesn’t instantly reply, you become concerned
is he okay? Did he not actually get the information you needed to get?
“We are going on a date,” he eventually says, his eyes trained forward
your eyes go wide at this, your feet slowing but your body being dragged onward as he continues to walk
“What? Why? We can have a date after-”
“No, we can’t. This disguise will wear off in a couple of hours. I want to take you on a proper date, doll.”
you pout a bit at his words despite liking the thought of going on a date with him now
“But, baby, we have been on dates. Plenty of them, in fact!”
“Not real ones. I can’t take you to the movies, or the mall, or a nice restaurant, or anywhere that’s public. Doesn’t that bother you? I want to treat you right, doll. It’s what you deserve.”
you pull him to a stop then, his eyes finally meeting yours
“Dabi, stop,” you start softly in case there are listening ears close by, “You do treat me right. Just because we can’t go to town and do things doesn’t mean I don’t have fun going to more private places with you. I actually prefer that because you can be you without having to worry about others interfering.”
he stares at you for a long moment before looking down at your conjoined hands
“Do you like me better like this?” he asks softly, eyes not moving back up to meet your again
“What? You mean the version that isn’t actually you? Of course not, baby. I like you for who you are and I prefer the real you than this phony you,” you declare, bringing your hand to his smooth cheek to turn his head up to look at you
his worry slowly fades and a smirk takes place of the frown that was once there
“Well, of course you do, doll. Why wouldn’t you?” he replies with full confidence before giving you a kiss
you happily return it, your heart swelling with care and happiness
as the kiss deepens, it was odd to feel his smooth, velvety bottom lip compared to what you’re used to kissing
it made it feel like you were kissing someone else
“Despite everything you just said though, I’m still taking you on a date. I want to experience those things with you, doll,” he decides once he pulls back and starts leading the way to somewhere unknown to you
you just giggle and agree, letting him do as he pleases

We have it all (Hualian adopted daughter fanfic) Chapter 8

Chapter 8
"Welcome back, Chenxi." Yin Yu says as he meets the Goddess just outside of the grounds of Paradise Manor. Once again she had a glamour hiding most of her divine aura but did not change her actual appearance. Anyone and everyone who had seen and heard her before would recognize it was her. Tonight she was no longer wearing the clothes that depicted her as one of her mother's priestesses but her own daily attire of a yellow outer robe and a pale pink inner clothes. And anything else that wasn't colored was cream colored. The very combination of colors that would paint the sky whenever it was dawn.
"Thank you Yin Yu, I appreciate that you refrained from saying my name when I arrived earlier."
"I know you enough to know that you have your reasons. Knowing what you had to endure for centuries -"
"Yin Yu." Chenxi stops him with a gentle tone.
"I did not help my former student ascend just for you to grieve what I have gone through."
"I could not help it, you will always be my professor. Awhile ago I had thought that you questioning me why I wanted to ascend was you doubting my abilities to do so. Later on I realized you were trying to point out that even immortality had its unintended consequences." She pats him on the back as they reach the building's entrance. Music was still being played but was now it was much more mellow and relaxed.
"Another former student of yours is in there."
"I know, it's one of the reasons why I've decided to appear tonight."
"Professor, with all due respect - I may not know what you are planning to do, but I should let you know that I am loyal to my master Hua Cheng and his family. Meng Ai is now part of that. And if you seek to harm her or break their family apart, I will not hesitate to fight for them. Even if it means fighting you." She nods and offers him an approving look.
"Then it's a good thing we have exactly the same interest." They bow to each other before she enters and he takes his leave.
The moment she enters she couldn't help but smile at the scene on front of her. Jing Mei was playing the Guzheng, probably for the last time since her mother Xiwangmu will need her services as an oracle soon. Many of them were playing a game of getting party favors with Xie Lian's sentient silk band lowering and raising the bars that the party favors hung from. Meng Ai was carried by Hua Cheng as she reaches for some party treats hung from the ceiling, Normally the game was to jump for the party favors but she was the birthday girl and Hua Cheng was just laughing as he lifted her so she could get as much as she wants. Generals Nan Yang and Fu Yao had bumped each other midjump as they were both trying to reach a peach.
Then her former student Shi Qingxuan, now recently mortal, had finally caught a plum. When they landed they looked up to where she stood and couldn't help it but they just had to run to her.
"Hello Shi Qingxuan."
"Hello Professor! I was starting to think you weren't going to come."
"It's nice to see you again. I've heard about what happened to you."
"Oh don't worry professor! I'm fine as you can see, though I'm still adjusting to life as a mortal." She raises an eyebrow with a matching smirk.
"Even after seven years?"
" Hey! It's been centuries since the last time I was mortal."
"I know, I tease." On her periphery she sees that her presence was noticed and that it was probably time to settle some of her prior engagements.
"Let's talk more later, if you need me you need only go to one of my temples or send a prayer to me."
"Of course professor." They step away and lead her to the group. Interestingly Hua Cheng hasn't put Meng Ai down and is in fact holding her tightly. The rest of them with the exception of Ji Huifan and Jing Mei wore neutral expressions. Her biological parents were relieved to see her.
"Sorry I'm late, my parents were reminding me of something."
"What's your name?" Meng Ai asks in curiosity.
"I'll give you a hint - we share the same name."
"Your name is also Meng Ai?"
"No, but you might want to ask your parents what your formal birth name is." She goes a little closer to her.
"If you can find out our name is and what my domain is, I'll give you your second birthday gift."
"Oh what's the first?" Chenxi then produces a multi-colored suanpan. 5 beads on the bottom and one bead on top consisting of 13 rods. While all of the top beads are red the bottom 5 beads depending on the rod contained blue, pink, orange, brown, black, and white beads.
"I noticed the last time I visited that you loved playing with my suanpan because it was colorful. Here's a little one so that you may take it anywhere." She gives the suanpan to Meng Ai as the little girl begins playing with it in awe. She turns to Hua Cheng and Xie Lian in a way that showed she means no harm.
"And also as a useful educational tool for arithmetics."
"Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome. I hope you won't mind if I eat something."
"Not at all, help yourself." Says Xie Lian as he leads Chenxi to the area where the food is.
"Dianxia we'll take care of it - go play with Meng Ai." Feng Xin says noticing that the little girl wants to know how to use and play with her new suanpan. This would give him a chance to bond with his new daughter while Feng Xin and Mu Qing have their own private conversation with Chenxi. After some persuasion Xie Lian is dragged back to the main entertainment area by Meng Ai. They both settle themselves facing her as she begins eating.
"Nice to finally meet you in person, Generals. For now you may call me Yu Yingtai while Meng Ai hasn't guessed who I am yet. But since you both are well acquainted with my former student, I believe that is one of the biggest clues to what my domain is."
"And yet you are not quite as forthcoming - much like your mother."
"With all due respect Xuan Zhen, the last time my family and I interacted with any Heavenly official I ended up imprisoned and bled out for centuries...among other things of course. I know your intentions are good, but I hope you'll forgive me for checking what you want with my experience with his family." She grabs a mooncake from the serving platter while she watches them share a look. Probably talking telepathically through their private spiritual array.
"Yingtai, this isn't just for our curiosity. Even you have to admit that the only sure way for Meng Ai to be safe is by eliminating the curse that you inadvertently placed on them." Feng Xin doesn't bother beating around the bush, nevertheless he does his best to be as persuasive as possible.
"It would lessen the danger to her, but even if they all cured themselves from their current condition they would still find some excuse to go after her. Trust me when I say that their delusion to sacrifice her to my mother's altar would persist even if they become mortal."
"But at least if they were mortal again - they would not be as invulnerable."
"Don't underestimate them Nan Yang. They were already dangerous before they became cursed immortals. There's a reason why they became the royal family when Fu Dao was nothing more than a strategically placed trading hub. The irony doesn't escape me that I fell in love with one of them."
"Let me guess, they didn't approve of you from the start?"
"On the contrary Xuan Zhen, I was their favorite for my beloved. I just didn't see that I was their favorite for nefarious purposes."
"And the story that Jing Mei and Ji Huifan told?"
"It is still true, they did not lie. They just respected my wishes not to tell the details. Some parts of the story is mine to tell. But Ji Huifan has been open on how the curse was lifted and how he was mortal again. I don't think you want to know those parts of my story when you already know how to cure them."
"Draining their blood?" Chenxi nods at Mu Qing. Behind them Shi Qingxuan and all four of Meng Ai's parents were keeping her distracted and entertained. A distraction she was thankful for since for all of Meng Ai's curiosity these aren't things that a little girl should know. Especially not on her birthday.
"Draining their blood till they are just on the brink of life and death."
"Ji Huifan says that he also poured out his grief." Feng Xin says questioningly.
"Because grief is a necessary part of the draining of blood in their case. The moment a large amount of blood drains from them they themselves will be confronted with what they have done. To me and to their victims. They already know this but don't want to accept it. They enjoy the current state they are in as cursed immortals."
"If they do then why are they hunting down Meng Ai? Why the need for her to be adopted by Xie Lian and Hua Cheng?"
"Will you calm down? Any louder and Meng Ai will be curious and come here." Mu Qing quickly reminds him as they both briefly glance at Meng Ai who seems to be getting her first suanpan mathematics lesson from Xie Lian.
"Unfortunately that is something even I cannot answer. The only thing that offering Meng Ai to my mother will do is to incur the wrath of my parents. And even I do not know what will happen when both of them are involved. All I know is that Meng Ai will just be another victim who just so happens to be related to them this time. But then again they've always been like this, always willing to sacrifice others but not themselves." Chenxi says melancholically.
"Listen Chen - Yingtai, I understand that you may not want to talk about everything that happened."
"And you won't have to."
"But we, especially Dianxia and Hua Cheng, need to know the entire story to truly remove them as a danger to Meng Ai."
"Given your domain deep down you also know this." Mu Qing adds.
"You got a mahjong set!?" The three of them hear Shi Qingxuan exclaim as one of Hua Cheng's servants brings it to the gathering.
"I thought mahjong involved money?"
"Not always Xiao Ai." Xie Lian clarifies as he puts her on his lap. Since the two of them will be watching the other four play.
"Money is only involved when you're in a gambling den. But the game itself is not inherently bad. It's quite fun when you know what you're doing Xiao Ai. San Lang please don't use your luck too much."
"As you wish Gege."
As the four of them begin washing the tiles Mu Qing and Feng Xin return themselves to Chenxi.
"Curing them will only treat the symptoms not the cause."
A moment of silence came after Mu Qing's last words. She carefully studied their faces and their body language. Feng Xin was more tense but he forces himself to relax awaiting her answer. Mu Qing was more relaxed than him but there was anxiety that he couldn't hide even if he wanted to.
She may have doubts but they both cared for Meng Ai.
Probably because she was now a part of Xie Lian's life and was now a part of his happiness. Or at least it began that way but even she could see that Meng Ai had begun making her way into their hearts.
"...Fine. But I have a few conditions."
"What are they?" Feng Xin asks eagerly.
"I'm only going to tell you once. So you better have Hua Cheng, Xie Lian, and Shi Qingxuan present. And Meng Ai shouldn't know this until she comes of age. But even then should she be curious tell her to come to me." She stands up as she notices the night becomes a little more darker. She'll need to leave now to do her daily job.
"We'll contact you through your oracle?"
"Yes please." She bids them all farewell before leaving. A few hours later with Meng Ai asleep in Xie Lian's arms, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng watches the dawn arrive in their cottage.
"There she goes, starting a new day."
"She's hiding plenty of things. Not just about Xiao Ai."
"Perhaps she isn't ready, or perhaps we aren't meant to know them."
"Only time will tell." Hua Cheng opens the door as they tuck their daughter in her bed.
______________________________________________________________
"Baba Lang you're joining us?" Xie Lian chuckles as Hua Cheng sits beside them in the study room.
"I reminded him that he needs to practice his calligraphy."
"Will you be writing the story of the butterfly lovers too? That's what Baba Lian told me to do after hearing that I drew the butterfly lovers instead of writing it down."
"Hmm so we'll be copying the same text Gege?"
"You know, why not. It's a simple enough writing exercise."
After a few moments Meng Ai couldn't help but look puzzled.
"Um Baba Lian maybe there's too much ink?" He sighs as he lessens the ink and hands the brush to Hua Cheng.
"Begin again."
"Hmm maybe you'll have to guide me - after all I never had formal lessons in calligraphy."
"Oh me too! My Baba and mama are the ones who taught me."
"Well to be fair little one they have excellent calligraphy."
"Which explains why even Xiao Ai has better calligraphy than you do." Meng Ai watches amused as Xie Lian places his hand on top of Hua Cheng's and guides him on making the first few characters of the butterfly lovers before she goes back to making another copy of the story. She had just finished her third copy, or the third copy that she was actually satisfied with. Legible calligraphy and no mistakes or accidental ink smudges. The copies that had her mistakes she set aside for making paper flowers later on or other paper creations.
It was at this moment that Ji Huifan enters with books and a fresh new pile of blank scrolls.
"Oh good you're practicing your calligraphy." He says in a language unknown to either Xie Lian or Hua Cheng. But Meng Ai merely rolls her eyes as she replies to him in the same language.
"Of course I am, I love writing."
"How many copies did you have to finish?"
"Only five."
"Then I'll wait until then."
In her periphery she sees him take out a pen which she was taught to be used more frequently in cultures more westward with different writing systems. Quickly seeing the confusion in their faces Ji Huifan explains calmly to them.
"Jing Mei and I have been teaching her some of the languages used along the silk road. Before I met her I travelled westwards to pursuit my studies in magic and in search for a possible cure. Eventually I became fluent in other languages and writing systems and would communicate directly to ambassadors whenever I returned in Fu Dao. I actually met Jing Mei when she was an adept studying in a place called Daxia. They have a different writing system than we do and we both feel that Meng Ai should know these just in case she finds herself somewhere in the silk road or if she is just bored."
"So the rumors are true, almost everyone in Fu Dao knows at least two languages." Xie Lian says.
"It was out of the necessity to keep the peace and to be attractive to travellers. And it is also beneficial for those who seek the path of magic, one magic system has it's advantages and disadvantages. Learning as much as you can expands the range of what is possible."
"And...I'm...done!"
"Have Xie Lian check it first."
Looking at her calligraphy while there were places wherein she could improve on those things could come with more practice and time. All five copies of the story of the butterfly lovers were legible, had no mistakes, and was neater than even Lang Qianqiu's calligraphy when he was teaching him.
"Alright you're done for calligraphy practice."
"Yes!"
"But not from writing." Ji Huifan then puts a new set of blank paper on front of her.
"Are you going to make me copy more things?"
"No." But before she could sigh in relief he puts her copies of the Butterfly lovers back to her side. And she looks at him with a puzzled look.
"This will be a language exercise for you. Translate the story of the Butterfly lovers to the language of Daxia." Her eyes widen and her frustration becomes clear.
"But I haven't mastered their writing system yet."
"Which is why I have brought my notes to help you. And until you are done I'll only be speaking to you in the language of Daxia."
"Really?"
"Absolutely." He replies in the Daxian language as he opens his book to the exact page which shows the writing system of Daxia. From what Hua Cheng and Xie Lian could see instead of being written from top to bottom and right to left, it was horizontal and made to be read from left to right.
"You only need to do one attempt for the whole story since this will be your first time doing this exercise."
"Is this really how you and mama learnt the new language?"
"Yes, we were also surrounded by Daxians so we had no choice but to speak their language while we were there." He dips the pen in ink and gives it to Meng Ai. Once he was satisfied with how she held the pen he nods.
"Now begin."
______________________________________________________________
It turns out it wasn't just Ji Huifan.
After doing their respective works for the day, they all gather in the kitchen in Paradise Manor. Even Meng Ai's babysitters were all present. The culinary lesson that Jing Mei that she opened to all new members of their family was in making her famous and much beloved mooncakes from scratch.
But before starting the lesson she had a couple of female servants prevent Meng Ai from entering with strict instructions that she may only enter when they hear a knocking sound from their side.
"Gather around in one spot everyone, so that Ji Huifan won't spend as much mana in casting this language spell."
"Language spell?!"
"Don't worry Shi Qingxuan, everyone of us will still be able to understand each other. But to Meng Ai it will temporarily sound like gibberish."
"This is so she could practice another language we've been teaching her. And one of the best ways to learn a new language is to immerse yourself in it."
"Exactly how many languages do you two know?" Feng Xin asks in shock and disbelief. While he never had direct contact with anyone from Fu Dao until now he had always thought that the rumor of anyone from Fu Dao being able to talk in more than one language was just an exaggeration.
But apparently not.
"Fluently or conversationally?" Jing Mei asks followed by a chuckle.
"Given how many centuries he's been alive, he's definitely fluent in more languages than I am. But I'm fluent in five and could talk in three more. We oracles need to be able to talk in as many languages as we could master since plenty of people from different lands also consult with Xiwangmu through us."
"Hmm, you know maybe I do have a need for your skills whenever Xiwangmu doesn't need both of you. That way you could still be in Xiao Ai's life as much as possible."
"Seriously? With your handwriting?" Mu Qing couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at Hua Cheng.
"He's working on it. And from what I've seen of some of the different writing systems there might be hope yet."
"CAN I COME IN NOW?!"
"Patience Aiai, we'll knock when you can enter."
"Please hurry up Baba."
"Alright, any final questions before I cast the spell?"
"Oh just a couple more - what language will you be teaching Meng Ai? And will we be able to understand anything you two are telling her?"
"We'll be speaking to her in the language of Anxi."
"Anxi is near Daxia and one of their official languages is the language used in Daxia. But the common language used in Anxi is distinct. Since plenty of those from Anxi are often in the Silk road we'll be focusing on this tonight." Ji Huifan adds as he stretches before readying himself to cast the spell.
"And Xiao Ai could understand everything you'll say?"
"Yes Dianxia, in all the languages we've been teaching her she knows enough to speak to any child from those cultures. She just doesn't have that opportunity to practice. Now let's not keep her waiting, and I know all of you are excited to finally learn how I make mooncakes." She nods at her husband and he casts the spell over all of them.
"Can you still understand us?"
"Yes, are you sure you did something and not just put on a magic show?" Ji Huifan smiles as Jing Mei chuckles at Mu Qing's question.
"It's not obvious now but you'll soon notice it once Aiai is here. Let her in Mei."
After a couple of knocks, Meng Ai rushes in and occupies a free spot near Xie Lian.
"Have you started making the mooncakes yet?"
"No we haven't Xiao Ai." Xie Lian says reassuringly but was only met with a confused look from Meng Ai.
"Baba Lian what are you trying to say?" Soon she was bombarded by questions from her three babysitters. The only thing she could understand was names.
"A-xuan you're not making any sense. What language are you speaking?"
"Huh so you weren't kidding when you said she couldn't understand us."
"Don't worry Qingxuan it's only temporary, the spell will be over after four hours if I don't extend it. But I don't think this lesson will exceed beyond two, depending on how it goes."
"Baba what are you telling A-xuan?"
"Just saying that this won't exceed beyond two hours." He finally replies to her in the Anxi language. Her eyes immediately show that she realizes what's going on.
"Another language lesson?" She replies back in the Anxi language.
"Yes, how else are you going to practice what you learnt?"
"Really Baba? I'm going to learn how to make Mama's mooncakes while speaking in Anxi?"
"I taught plenty of lessons speaking this language Aiai. And have spoken to many travellers from Anxi who sought prophecies from Xiwangmu. It's important to keep the skills you've learnt sharp. If you want to learn how I make your mooncakes the way you like it, you're going to do it while practicing and improving on the skills you know."
"And you can always ask your Mama and I if there are words that you don't understand." She appreciates the reassurance but everyone could see that she's still hesitating.
"Jing Mei, please tell her for me that not everyone learns two things at the same time. A skill that only a special few could brag about." Hua Cheng says and she promptly translates it. Once Meng Ai got the message there was now a fire of motivation from her as she eagerly straightens herself.
"I'm ready."
For everyone else who was affected by the spell, it was an interesting experience. In addition to learning how Jing Mei makes her mooncakes, for a few hours they could understand the Anxi language though none of them have been exposed to it. Or at least not to this extent. It had a different rhythm compared to what they were used to but it wasn't bad by any means. Before they realized it, two hours went by and the lesson was done.
"Now all you need to do is just practice to get all the timing right."
"That's it? Just practice?"
"Yes Aiai, just practice. Think you can still remember all we've learned today?"
"With practice I will!"
"That's the spirit. Alright I'll lift the spell now."
After a brief light flashing from his palms they then turn their attention to Meng Ai. Xie Lian takes the initiative to test if the spell was over.
"Xiao Ai, can you understand us now?"
"Oh finally." Her exasperated look makes all of them chuckle.
"All I was hearing was 'Bar-gar-krar-bar-Xiao Ai-gar-bir-krur-San Lang-bar-bar-Gege-gar-gar-Ju Yang-bar-bar' I thought you were all speaking a really old language."
"Is that so?"
"Yes Baba Lang."
"Well I hope you know it was also interesting hearing you speak in the Anxi language little one."
"Really?"
"Yes, I'm actually thinking if one day you could teach me the Anxi language."
"Oh I also know the languages of Daxia, Panyu, and Daqin."
"Even better, you could practice what you know and I would be learning more new things."
"And you could also teach me." Xie Lian adds, quickly picking up what Hua Cheng was trying to do. By giving her motivation to teach all of them something that she uniquely knows, it would encourage her to improve her skills and would give them a chance to bond.
After all if they themselves knew the languages they wouldn't need to exert spiritual power to translate between different languages.
"You know what, count me in."
"Learning several new languages will be quite useful."
Shi Qingxuan couldn't help but laugh at how Feng Xin and Mu Qing quickly added themselves to Meng Ai's new hypothetical new language class.
"I'll stick to being a casual learner and see if I could keep up with these four. Life is too short to not enjoy it."
Afterwards there was a new fire in Meng Ai as she progressed through her language lessons. The idea of teaching her new family members things she already knew put a different kind of pressure on her. Now she wanted to make sure everything she knew about the languages she spoke was correct. From the writing systems, the different cultures that were reflected in these languages and the little nuances that she may not have picked up the first time.
And before she knew it she was giving them their first lesson.
Or rather a casual conversation while the five of them were taking a trip in a nearby town. Shi Qingxuan wanted to join but had to talk with their brother. Her parents were ordered by Xiwangmu to do tasks for her. Hua Cheng gave both of them additional protection in addition to the glamour on their appearances. And so she was spending her time with her Baba Lian, Baba Lang, and Generals Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen. The latter three were in disguise and she was told to call them by their nicknames instead of their actual names.
"It's strange seeing you with two eyes Baba Lang."
She was so used to seeing him taller and with only his left eye. And now while he was still taller than Xie Lian, he was much shorter than what she was used to. And his hair was now in a side ponytail tied by a red cord.
"Trust me, you'll get used to it Xiao Ai."
"Don't worry, this is only for when we are out. It wouldn't do if everyone knows how I actually look like little one."
"Oh that reminds me, Nan Feng, Fu Yao, when will I get to see your true forms? Or am I not allowed because I'm mortal?"
"When you can beat one of us on your own in Go, then we'll show you our true forms."
"But Nan Feng I'm nowhere near that!"
"Yet. You're nowhere near yet. Because once you do, you'll quickly find out how predictable he is."
"I said she just needs to beat one of us. What makes you think she won't beat you?"
"Simple, she likes me more than you."
They hear Hua Cheng chuckle, something told all of them that he was up to something.
"You know he does have a point. How about this, if you manage to beat both of them separately and together then I'll get you that cloth tiger that you've been eyeing for awhile. And in each win you'll get a new hairstick."
He was sweetening the deal and making it more challenging. After all she is his daughter and training her to be strategic with different opponents is something he wants to foster. They quickly learned that she was attracted to shiny and attractive objects and plenty of that went to different hairstick designs. And of course she had been eyeing a cloth tiger since one of the first stores in the town's entrance was a toy store selling them. She was too shy to enter, but everyone could see that she had been eyeing the red cloth tiger and everyone of them heard her grumbling how the perfect one would come in blue.
"So if I beat one of them I get a hairstick?"
"Yes, each win earns you a new hairstick that you'll choose."
"If I beat both of them separately?"
"You'll get the cloth tiger that you wanted to buy from the store." Xie Lian adds in order to make each prize more justified with each challenge. Meng Ai wants to see Feng Xin and Mu Qing's actual forms which was the biggest curiosity for her since she called them by their heavenly titles.
"And when I beat both of them when they are playing against me together?"
"You'll see our true appearance. And you'll know my true name - I don't know about Nan Feng here but by that point you'll have earned the right to know the actual name your Baba Lian calls me."
"You'll not just know my true name and appearance you'll also get a gift from me."
"Let me guess - another game set you'll impulsively buy without consulting me?"
"I'll consult you this time!"
"Meng Ai you'll be getting a more sensible gift that you could actually appreciate on your own once you beat both of us as a team."
She chuckles before pretending to stamp something on paper.
"Alright, challenge accepted."
"Out of curiosity, how would you say it in the Daxian language?"
Xie Lian's question then eventually evolved into a delightful first lesson on the Daxian language for all of them. Later that evening when she checked what she taught with her parents she was rewarded with a Tangyuan as a dessert for dinner.
_____________________________________________________________
"We'll need to test it to be sure."
Ji Huifan says while he meets with Hua Cheng, Xie Lian, Feng Xin and Mu Qing. This was the safest time to do it since Meng Ai was taking her musical lessons with Jing Mei and a music teacher whom Hua Cheng hired. The ghost Li Shuyue had bet her afterlife when she was alive in order to try to save her lover. She had lost but fortunately was a talented musician in the Guzheng and the Guqin. The three of them got along and Meng Ai was always excited to have music lessons. She wouldn't be looking for them for awhile.
"When my blood was drained I was already pouring out my grief. But if grief is necessarily a part of draining the blood then all we might need to do is to hold them down while draining them of their blood. But since their skin would be thicker than a normal person's would be the blade used must be extremely sharp to even make an opening."
"The wound must also remain open for enough blood to drain out."
"Dianxia we could solve that with magic."
"If possible I want to avoid using magic for draining Feng Xin. Something tells me we'll need it more to keep them restrained and the wound open. Huifan, is there any instrument that you have that could facilitate the draining? Perhaps some of your medical leeches?"
"I've already tried the leeches on myself before I was cured. Unless you make them bigger or their teeth sharper they won't be able to go through all layers of the skin. The key to draining is draw out the blood which can be done through an external vaccum and an anti-coagulant on the wound to keep it open."
"And enough blood must be spilt to the point where they must faint and sleep." Ji Huifan nods at Hua Cheng.
"It's the 'death' of the curse and as Chenxi explained, the sleep afterwards is the body's way of restoring it back in it's mortal state."
"I have some ideas on how we can test it. But I'll need to collect my thoughts first."
Xie Lian says as they hear Meng Ai and Jing Mei's voices in the hall.
"Come on wash up, your father and I will take you out tonight."
"But I thought it wasn't safe for the three of us to be out?"
"We'll be within Hua Chengzhou's territory, he helped us make reservations for tonight."
Mu Qing waits until the two were out of earshot before asking his question.
"Are you going to finally tell her what her birth name is?"
"We'll do that tonight. When you have your own meeting with Chenxi."
"Whose idea was it to give her that name?"
"Both of us. I was tired of what my family has been doing and Jing Mei wanted to rub it in their faces after all the things they've said to her. I think a part of me had already known that we weren't going to stay in Fu Dao for long."
"You miss it?"
"It's impossible not to Dianxia. But I also couldn't stay there while they keep doing what they have been doing for centuries. I fear that one day they will turn to Fu Dao's subjects and begin preying on them when it seems that enough is not yet enough."
He makes his leave to begin preparing for his family dinner. He was grateful that the three of them were still allowed to have these moments even if it was to keep Meng Ai from bursting into Chenxi's meeting. Who knows how many more they would be allowed before they would be indefinitely separated.
"Chenxi is already in Ghost city with Shi Qingxuan. She's just waiting for Meng Ai to leave Paradise Manor." Xie Lian says after he received a message from Chenxi through the spiritual array.
"A little too early for her don't you think?" Feng Xin says in suspicion of her.
"Perhaps she just wants to explore. After all she doesn't come here till recently. I don't blame her for being curious of what goes on in my city."
"She's probably just catching up with Shi Qingxuan. They were after all her former student." Mu Qing says as he rolled his eyes on Feng Xin being dramatic.
They hear footsteps and the door opens and Meng Ai all dressed up entered.
"Baba Lang are you sure the restaurant is safe for us?" He chuckles as he kneels down to her so that their eyes could meet.
"I have personally made sure of it. Don't worry the three of you will be safe tonight." He pinches her chubby cheeks before putting a little bit more power on her silver butterfly pendant.
"Now go on, enjoy your evening with your parents. As long as you are in my territory you are safe." She smiles in relief and gives him a kiss on the cheek in gratitude.
"Thank you Baba Lang. Bye Baba Lian, bye Nan Yang, bye Xuan Zhen."
After saying their goodbyes she runs to join her parents in their family outing. A few moments later Chenxi arrives in Paradise Manor with Shi Qingxuan.
"I hope you've all already eaten, I can't predict how long this will take us."
"We have."
"Then Dianxia I need you all to relax, some things are better explained through my memories."
Chenxi casts a spell and makes the table glow. Turning it into a medium to show her memories.
"I never intended to fall in love with Hou Lijie, I was there to study and learn about the different cultures that were coming into my mother's place of influence. But...sometimes you can't control whom your heart wants."
They see a disguised Chenxi in more meager clothes as she rushes to an attractive man who was bleeding out and was being treated in an infirmary.
"Lijie!"
"Yingtai I'm fine."
"How can you be fine? You are still bleeding." Hou Lijie gives her a sad smile.
"It's a condition I've had since I was young. An incurable blood disease that makes me more vulnerable than any other members of my family."
Chenxi in her memory has a realization.
"Is that why you are so adamant in learning more about the world? To find a cure?"
"...It may have started of that way, but I also didn't want to die without trying or regretting anything."
He pats on the spot beside him beckoning her to sit with him.
"In truth I'm probably the best person to have been inflicted with this disease. If it were any of my brothers they would be devastated that they wouldn't be allowed to learn the martial ways. When all I need is food and a library."
"You also need a bed and a water closet."
"You know what I mean...Chenxi." He laughs as she looks at him in surprise.
"I already had my suspicions within the first week when we became classmates. You couldn't stay up late and tend to awaken a couple hours before dawn arrives."
"The other girls in my room are also early risers."
"Which is why that's not what lead me to your actual identity. It was the way you were relentless in your optimism and hope and your deep knowledge over Xiwangmu that made me guess that you weren't mortal. It's hard to explain but whenever you encourage people there is a sacredness to it for a lack of a better word."
Their eyes meet and in his eyes she could see that her secret was safe with him.
"There's something else isn't there?"
"Yes, your identity was confirmed when I overheard you arguing with someone in a dark secluded area. I thought you were going to be in trouble when I heard him say your name. Then when you returned to the school grounds you were upset but didn't want anyone else to know."
"Hmph, the first time you stopped being my rival."
"I thought it was strange that someone wanted to be close with me who was my academic rival. Can you blame me given who my family is?"
"I thought you of all people know that work and actual life are intertwined but not the same!"
"A defensive measure, I assure you."
"So what about that time made you change your mind?"
He takes her hand in his.
"It seemed you had the weight of the world on your shoulders."
"...In a way I did, it involved an incident that made me question myself."
"Even now you cannot tell me?" Now it was her turn to give him a sad smile.
"It's one thing for a mortal to confide to a God, it's another for a God to confide into a mortal."
The memory transitions into one of her imprisonment. And all of them sees that she had a cursed shackle on each arm. But what was unique was that the cursed shackles were glowing. She was in a dungeon in chains, the only light that glowed was the moonlight that had just entered.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" She asks sarcastically as a familiar figure emerges. One that still evokes pain among all those watching her memories.
"Consider this your punishment Chenxi."
"My punishment? This is your revenge on me Jun Wu." He smirks at her as she looks at him with disgust.
"I've already warned you before that your love affair with that mortal was making you neglect your domain. By eliminating your distraction I was doing you a favor."
"HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY FORM AND KILL HIM!"
"Every action has it's consequences Chenxi, because of him my people, the innocents of Wuyong remained in despair and doubted the heavens."
"That isn't how hope works, hope may be my domain but I also cannot force it on those whose hearts have closed off to it. Tell me Jun Wu, how can I nurture it when many of your people have closed their hearts to me."
"Then you should have opened them. Aren't you also the Goddess of enlightenment? Surely you know what to do to make them more receptive to you."
"I cannot enlighten those who find comfort in ignorance. Forcing it will only make them ignore me more and the more their hearts will not allow me to enter."
They stare at each other, neither one of them willing to look away.
"Until now you make excuses for not helping me."
"Just like how you are making excuses for your own faults? How you made a bridge to the heavens when it was a difficult solution for the problem that you faced? Or is it because you cannot cope and learn with your own failures?"
"You think I'm the failure? You who wasn't able to protect your beloved from death? You who were too late in making him immortal before he died from the disease I gave him? I think it was fortunate that they were able to avoid it by following my instructions quickly."
"You mean when you made them kill me over and over again then afterwards taking one bite of the peaches of immortality that I had brought? All because you told them that grief was for the unworthy."
"Well, they are now some of my most ardent followers. Thanks to you as repayment for the negligence you have done to Wuyong."
Chenxi just gave a demeaning laugh at him. Not intimidated by what he has done to her.
"Repayment? Jun Wu we both know why you cannot put regular cursed shackles on me."
"And why is that?"
She gives him a menacing smirk. And even though his face was shrouded in the darkness she could still feel his unease with the truth.
"Because not even you can afford to lose hope. Hope in what I may not know. Hope to share your despair? Hope for someone who understands you? Hope to make someone else just like you?"
Chenxi laughs menacingly at him.
"You can't do that without my domain. And so you put these altered cursed shackles on me because the whole absence of hope would put all three realms in a state that even you cannot change."
"...Let's see then how powerful your domain is. Convince one of them to change and see the error in their ways and your shackles will be gone."
Jun Wu gives her one last look.
"And not even your father can help you. How can he when I have killed all of his allies in the Heavenly Realm."
And with that he vanishes and the memory spell ends. She turns to Shi Qingxuan and places a reassuring pat on their back.
"Now you know why I told you that it's not your task to rescue me. My imprisonment could only end when one member of the family wanted to change."
"Oh professor." Shi Qingxuan couldn't help themselves but hug her.
"So how did you still teach students while you were imprisoned?"
"Through the spiritual array Xuan Zhen. If a mortal's desire is for knowledge and enlightenment and if they have enough hope, I could still teach them in their dreams. That's how I managed to teach Shi Qingxuan, Yin Yu and plenty of others while my main body remained imprisoned. It was one of the few activities that kept me sane throughout all those centuries. I only stopped for awhile when they began draining my blood after Ji Bocheng misinterpreted my mother's oracle. I needed the energy to get my strength back."
"So they refuse to move on from their despair and thus refuse to grieve. In addition to that they are Jun Wu's worshippers." She nods at Hua Cheng, his eye telling her that he now understands the root cause of the curse she accidentally caused the peaches of immortalitly to give.
"I asked them to leave that out since I didn't want to give him more power than necessary. The more you dwell on him the more power he maintains. Meng Ai is also not old enough to know what Jun Wu has done."
She finds herself chuckling at a memory that she was just reminded of.
"Imagine my surprise and approval when they both asked me if they could name her after me. By doing so they have also made me her patron deity and I am obligated more than others to look after her."
"Then why did your mother choose Dianxia and Hua Cheng?"
"General Nan Yang, even you could see the danger of me raising Meng Ai. The family of cursed immortals already knows me and my tactics and could fairly predict my moves. I'm the Goddess of hope not delusion. Even though some would argue that there is no difference between the two."
"Suddenly your seeming non-existence in the heavens makes so much more sense. I was wondering why I've only met your mother but not you or your father. Xiwangmu is that powerful isn't she."
"And more Dianxia, if there's one family member of mine that Jun Wu cannot ban it's my mother. She not only represents the Life and Death of an individual but also the Life and Death of a reign or era. To ban her would be to destroy the heavens."
"Hmm your memories have been enlightening on whom we are facing."
"You're welcome Hua Chengzhou. And I'll need to make my leave now before they return."
"Huh? Why?" Shi Qingxuan asks in confusion.
"I'd like to take a nap before doing my daily task. Now that it's not just my spirit who is doing it. And yet another reason why Jun Wu cannot put regular cursed shackles on me."
She bids all of them goodnight as she makes her leave.
"Well," Hua Cheng begins in a terrifying tone to everyone except Xie Lian.
"If they want to dwell in their despair then their grief will be even more satisfying."
AN: And that is it for this chapter. Please send your prayers that I do well in my midterm exams this week (and that I don't get mental block).
Jing Mei is one of the few people who have the guts to name her daughter Ji Chenxi.
I'm going to deviate a bit and not mention what "Yu" the surname in Chenxi's alias is (spoiler territory). Although if you know who the actual Xiwangmu's husband is then you already got your answer (he's still her husband in this story).
Yingtai - Literally means "Flower Terrace" but Chenxi intentionally chose it because Zhu Yingtai from the story of the Butterfly Lovers.
Li - Plum, Shuyue - Gentle and beautiful water
A suanpan is just the Mandarin term for abacus. This is from my own childhood but mine didn't have the divider for the top beads and the bottom beads, and each rod had beads of ten and it was really large. I remember it was colorful that's why I played with it a lot (having said that I am only average at mathematics - so it was pure marketing hahaha).
Panyu is the old term for Guangzhou (or Canton). The Panyu language is Cantonese.
Daxia and Anxi are based on the exonyms provided by Zhang Qian's reports. Daxia is Greco-Bactria wherein the dominant language is Greek. Anxi is the Parthian Empire which also adapted Greek as one of it's official languages but the lingua franca is actually Aramaic. This is what I will be referring to as the Anxi language since the Parthian empire has many languages.
Daqin is the Chinese exonym for Rome or the Roman Empire, no Chinese official have been able to reach Rome with the closest being Gan Ying. The language of Daqin that I'm referring to will be Latin.
Yes that is how widespread the connections of the cursed family are thanks to Ji Huifan. Though it is debateable if they were able to maintain that after Ji Huifan stopped participating in their activities.

{***}{***}{***}
The days following up to me leaving were bad. I wondered if that’s what it was like for Aaron and Haley. Although, there were different circumstances between the two of them. Same with David and all 3 of his wives. But, who am I to compare my problems with my superiors and their problems. Although, their wives left them… Not the other way around. Not like how I left you.
I should have stayed. We could have figured everything out. But I left. I think it’s because I got scared and didn’t know how to talk to you. And the reason behind why I got scared is a valid reason… I wanted to cause harm...
“God! This is so ridiculous!” you shouted from across the living room. I watched as you looked around the room, at all the piled up books and files. “I just do not understand you!” Your shout was louder than before, causing me to flinch slightly.
“I don’t know what you want from me!” I returned the shout, watching as it was your turn to flinch. “What do you want!?! Huh!? You know I can’t read your mind!” I stared at you. I wish I had noticed you were crying before I yelled. But that didn’t stop me…
“Spencer!” The way your voice shook didn’t bother me. But what did bother me was the way my hand started to ball up. It scared me. I took a step back, pressing my body against the wall that was closer than I originally thought.
I looked at you before I stormed out of the living room and out of the apartment all together. The sounds of your light footsteps followed behind me, and your faint voice calling out my name. I didn’t stop though, even as you begged me to stay. I couldn’t stay though… Not when I wanted to cause harm to someone I loved.
So, I left.
{***}{***}{***}
I looked down at the file in hand, reading over the case we just returned from. You didn’t come with. It wasn’t the first case you missed, and it wouldn’t be the last. Everyone ignored how awkward and uncomfortable it was in the room where we sat to talk about our cases.
“Hey, Reid,” Luke’s voice pulled my eyes from my case and to look up at him. He nodded towards the door to the bullpen, causing me to follow his gesture.
You were there, walking in like you knew what you wanted and that you were going to get it. I stood up and watched as you walked in more, scanning the room. Our eyes met and I dropped my shoulders as you walked towards Emily’s office. I tossed my file to my desk and practically ran up to you. I nearly tripped over my feet as I met you at the steps to the cat-walk.
“I don’t want to talk to you, Spencer,” you kept your voice low and your head held high. You didn’t even bother to look over at me.
“Please, just a minute. Two minutes. And then you never have to talk to me… again…” I tried to hold my ground but failed when my words broke. My throat and lips nearly betrayed me, closing as the last few syllables failed to come from me. “Let me explain myself,” I whispered, looking at you. If I spoke any louder, I’d fear my voice would crack, forcing me to crack and become a ball of emotions.
You stopped right in front of Emily’s office and looked at me. You looked right at me… I honestly can’t remember the last time I remembered you looking at me, and not right through me. It was well before our last fight, and even before we even started fighting.
“I don’t want to talk to you. You lost that chance when you left,” your tone held authority. I was left speechless as you stepped into the office, shutting the door in my face. Emily closed the blinds, leaving me to wonder what the conversation would be about.
I sulked back to my desk and lowered myself down to my seat. I kept my eyes on the closed-off room, waiting for you to leave. I didn’t want to miss what could be my last chance in ever talking to you again.
“How’d it go?” Luke asked as he appeared beside me and my desk. I sighed, glancing at him, taking my eyes off the door for a brief moment.
“She didn’t want to talk,” I whispered as Luke leaned against my desk. He was also looking at Emily’s office. I tried not to slouch, but it was so hard when it felt like a weight was on my shoulders, weighing me down.
“I don’t blame her,” Luke whispered, resting a hand on my shoulder. I swallowed roughly and closed my eyes.
“Thanks for that, Luke,” I muttered before pulling my shoulder away from his touch.
“Is she talking to Emily?” Penelope’s voice caused me to open my eyes again. I looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
“You knew she was coming?” I looked right at Penelope. She was standing beside Luke and looking right at Emily’s office. Jennifer and Tara joined us, standing on the other side of my desk.
“You were the only person she didn’t tell, Spencer,” Jennifer looked at me for a moment. She looked at me like I was the last person she wanted to be around. I didn’t realize you two were so close. You told her everything, and I knew it would come back to bite me in the ass. “In fact, you’re the only person here she doesn’t want to see right now.” her tone was cool, and still. And, it made me feel like the bad guy. To be fair… I already felt like the bad guy.
“There’s no need to point that out, Jennifer,” I muttered, picking up the file and looking over it. I tried my hardest to keep focus on the file, but it was so hard when everyone was around me, looking at Emily’s office.
“I wonder what they’re talking about,” Penelope whispered, wrapping her arm around Luke’s before resting her head on his shoulder. I swallowed roughly and looked over at the door before looking back at Jennifer. She was looking at me, her lips pierced together in a thin line. She was angry and there was nothing I could do to make her not angry.
“Could be anything,” Tara returned. I tried my hardest to keep from rolling my eyes. But I so obviously failed.
“I heard she was transferring,” Jennifer looked away and at Tara. That was it. You were officially leaving and transferring out of the BAU. All Jennifer had to say was that you were leaving and I knew it was true. Again, you tell her everything. So, that’s why you were here…
“That’s not true! She can’t leave!” Penelope protested. I let out an annoyed sigh. “She... She has to stay! She’s a part of the family!” she continued. I almost wanted to snap at her. But, I wasn’t angry at Penelope. No, I wasn’t even mad at you. I was mad at myself.
“She told me that she was. Who knows what Emily is going to tell her.” Jennifer shrugged. I could still feel Jennifer’s eyes on me. Like her eyes were lasers boring a hole into my head.
“I hope wherever she transfers to… She enjoys… I’ll miss her a lot,” Tara walked around to her desk, finally leaving me alone. Now I just need everyone else to go.
We sat in silence, staring at Emily’s door. I couldn’t help but feel my stomach bubble with too many emotions. I wanted to excuse myself to go to the bathroom, but the door to Emily’s office opened and you both stepped out. You guys shared a few more words before you looked over at the group watching for you.
“We were just… Talking,” Penelope smiled at you. I wanted to glare, but I knew I shouldn’t direct my anger at her. In fact, I couldn’t direct my anger anywhere. It was my own fault you were leaving.
You looked away from the group before walking away from Emily. You walked over to my desk and the group of people around it. Our friends. Our family.
“Just talking to Emily about a few things. That’s all,” you whispered. A lie. You didn’t want to tell everyone that you had put in for a transfer… No, what will happen is we’ll all show up to the office, and your desk will be empty, clean of your stuff. “I, uh, wish I could stay. But, I’m having coffee with someone and I don’t want to be late,” you pressed with a fake smile, trying to convince us all you were fine, even though we all knew you weren’t fine.
“You can’t leave,” Penelope looked at you with wide eyes. I could feel my heart rate picked up as I looked up at you. “We aren’t a family if you leave.” she continued, her voice pleading to you. You looked at Jennifer, clearly annoyed that she told everyone that you were leaving.
“Penelope,” Jennifer started, her tone warning.
“Now really isn’t the time, Pen… I seriously have to go. I can’t be late,” you looked at her and shook your head. The look on your face was incredibly apologetic and I knew you were sorry for everyone but me. “I’ll see you guys later,” you flashed everyone a smile before turning to leave. “Goodbye,” you mumbled as you looked at me one last time.
I sighed, dropping my shoulders, as I watched you leave the BAU for the last time. My eyes stayed frozen on the elevator doors as they closed, and I could feel a familiar wetness rolling down my cheeks.
{***}{***}{***}
I’ll have to be honest, this isn’t the first or last day I’ve spent sitting in my office at home, regret filling my head and my heart. The sunset made the room look golden and the rays shone off the various reflective surfaces.
I needed a change of scenery. My apartment, office, and BAU offices were starting to drag me down emotionally and mentally. All places that reminded me of you. So, I packed a book and other things and went to the nearby park… Which is where we’d gone on many picnics.
Why would I go to the park as the day turned into the night? You know, I’m not sure. I just needed something different and the park was the best thing I could think of. It was walking distance and I knew no one would be there to bother me.
That was until I saw you.
You were walking beside Jennifer on the far side of the park. Henry was running around, playing with a remote control car. Michael was sitting on your hip, his head resting on your shoulder as he slept. And something about that looked so natural to me. If I had known you were here with Jennifer and her kids, I wouldn’t have come. I swear.
I kept my head low as I walked towards one of the park benches on the far side of the park. With my book in hand, I continued to pretend that I didn’t see you and prayed that you didn’t see me. I don’t know why I didn’t just leave and go to a different park… It was the familiarity of this one that made me feel safe. Or, maybe it was the chance of you seeing me, and wanting to talk.
“Uncle Spencer?” A young boy’s voice asked as a fire engine red remote control car hit my feet. I closed my book and looked up to see Henry standing in front of me.
“Henry,” I smiled at him. I closed my book and placed it back in my bag. “What are you doing here?" I asked, pretending that I didn't see his mom, little brother, and you.
"Mom brought me," he smiled as he looked over towards Jennifer and you. "She wanted to talk to…" he trailed off the end of his sentence, not wanting to say your name. Jennifer and Will didn't tell him about what happened between us. But he was old enough to know. Considering any event we were both invited to, we avoided each other like the plague. I’m sure he thought it was weird that his aunt and uncle (his god-parents) stopped talking to each other and ignored each other every chance they had.
"That's nice," I felt my smile falter as I nodded, "Is this the race car your dad got you?” I asked, keeping my eyes on Henry. He smiled and nodded as he picked up the car.
“Yeah, mom said I could bring it with while they talked,” he looked down at the toy. I smiled at him and nodded. “It doesn’t go very fast though,” he looked back up at me and pouted.
“I’m sure you could make it go faster. With upgrades.” I smiled at him as he placed the car back to the ground. I watched as he drove the car and spun it out. I watched as he moved it back and forth on the sidewalk in front of us until he drove it away and towards people walking towards us. The small red car hit the feet of two people, causing both Henry and me to look up.
At first, I looked at Jennifer. I knew she wouldn’t be mad to see me. The tense expression her face held told me a different story. Her jaw was clenched and her lips were in a tight line. Her eyes were wide, but the emotion behind them frightened me a bit.
Then I looked over at you. Your hand was resting on Michael’s lower back as you held him. Your hair was in disarray that looked nice, but that’s how you usually wore it anyways. You had bags under your eyes, they were a deeper color than they were before, it was a clear sign that you had obviously lost sleep. And then you looked at me, fear and sadness in your eyes. The golden sunshine shone across your face, highlighting the important details. The details I loved. But, also details that you didn’t deserve to have, all because of the stress I caused.
I rushed to stand to my feet, my bag falling off the bench and spilling its contents all over the ground. I didn’t care though. I just wanted to talk to you.
“H-hey,” I looked at you, then back at Jennifer, then back at you. You kept your eyes on me as I fumbled over my words, trying to find the right thing to say. “I was just… I just wanted to come out to read and go for a walk,” I spoke, trying to find a pliable excuse to be here, at the public park. It wasn’t even an excuse. I was actually here to read. I don’t know why I need to explain why I was here.
“You’re allowed to be at the park, Spencer,” you whispered back. I stared at you before I realized something. You spoke to me. And it was the first time too since you transferred out from the BAU. We stared at each other, feeling an awkward tension grow between us.
Jennifer cleared her throat, causing me to rip my eyes from you and look at the ground. I silently cursed myself when I noticed all my belongings on the ground. I fell to my knees and pushed all my things back into my bag.
“We should get going. I know Will should be home soon and we can get a head start on dinner.” Jennifer spoke, causing me to snap my head to look at her. You were staring at where I was standing, but not at me.
“Yeah, yeah… That’s probably a good idea,” you looked at Jennifer and smiled, “Michael here is getting a little bit heavy,” you let out a very forced laugh. I stood back up before brushing the debris off my pants. You and Jennifer (even Henry) look at me with wide eyes.
“Can we talk?" I asked, nearly begging, as I looked at you. You refused to look at me again. And I could see a familiar wetness in your eyes. My shoulders instantly sagged as I looked at you and watched tears begin to form in your eyes. My heart sank to my stomach, which then sunk to the ground. “Please?” I whispered.
“Henry, are you ready to go?” You looked down at the boy, who was holding his red race car. I swallowed roughly, watching as you offered Henry your hand. You looked back at me before leading Henry away from Jennifer and I.
I reached out my hand to stop you but failed when Jennifer stepped in front of me. I looked back at her, ready to protest her stopping me.
“Jennifer, please,” I thought I shouted, but I’m sure it was hardly above a whisper. She dropped her hand from my arm and looked at the ground. I watched as you brought Henry and Michael back to the Jaraeu-LaMontange mini-van. Something about the way you carried Michael and helped Henry looked very natural. I couldn’t place my finger on why though.
“Leave her alone,” Jennifer whispered, pulling my attention back to her. I looked at her with wide eyes, my lips parted my mouth dry of words.
“I need to talk to her,” I whispered as I gathered my things again. I put the strap of my bag back over my body as I held a death-grip on my book. “I have to talk to her,” I turned to leave, but stopped when Jennifer grasped my hand again. “Jennifer,” I warned as I looked at her.
“She doesn’t want to talk to you right now. Okay? Give her time to figure stuff out,” she spoke. Her tone was low and had a certain demanding tone to it. “She went from having you in her life 24-7 to not having you at all. Give her time, Spence,”
“Okay, okay,” I whispered as I looked to the ground, “How much time?” I looked back up at Jennifer with tears threatening to fall.
“I don’t know. You left her without an explanation, Spence. And she needs time to heal… To fix herself… To rebuild herself… She ju-” She bit her lips together to stop herself from saying something. I looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
“What’s wrong? She just what?” I dropped my shoulders as I looked at her. She looked at me and shook her head.
“Just leave her alone for right now. She’ll come to you when she’s ready,” Jennifer half-warned. I went to argue back but failed when she looked at me before leaving. I sat back down on the bench and buried my face into my hands. A frustrated sigh left my lips as I pushed my fingers through my hair.
I looked up and over at the mini-van. You and Jennifer were sitting in the front seat, talking to each other. And I noticed that you looked over at me once or twice. I let out another frustrated sigh before standing up and walking back home.
The thoughts and memories filled my head of when you were mine and I was yours and before I made a stupid decision. The sunshine was almost fully gone by the time I returned home and it was safe to say this was another day I lost filled with regret.
{***}{***}{***}
My body jerked, forcing me to wake up and sit in bed. The bedding and blankets pooled around my waist as I felt the bed beside me. There was a moment where I forgot you weren’t there and panic settled in my stomach. And then I remembered.
The darkness of the room started to feel claustrophobic and I panicked in the night. I nearly knocked everything off my nightstand as I went to turn the lamp.
You would always tell me not to be afraid of the dark (or anything for that matter). But, ever since I left and we no longer saw each other, I was afraid. I looked over at where you once slept and reached my hands out over the blankets to feel for you. Even though I knew you weren’t there, I wished you were.
I sighed deeply before kicking the blankets off me. My body was on auto-pilot, and I found myself in the kitchen. The tea kettle was on the stove, waiting for the water to warm up. The clock on the stove read 3:13 in the morning.
The moonlight illuminated the living room, the silver lighting hitting the coffee table, floor, and the various stacks of books. It sort of reflected my mood for the last few months. I wondered if you felt this way. Probably not.
I sat down on the couch and turned the lamp on. A random book was in my hand, and my nose was in it. I was not retaining any of the information as I read, or looked at the words.
A knock on the door honestly scared me. I wasn’t expecting anyone at my home at 3:30 in the morning. I looked down at my book before placing it on the couch beside me. I grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around my body, hiding my pajamas from whoever was at the door.
I don’t know who I was expecting when I looked through the peephole. Maybe it was a hitman coming to kill me. No, no that’s entirely too dark. Serial Killer? Maybe a burglar? No, burglars don’t knock. Could be Luke coming over, drunk because the woman he was sleeping with told him to leave. Or, maybe Penelope wanted to have a late-night Doctor Who marathon. Of all the people and things to be at my door…
I wasn’t expecting you.
You were standing on the other side, your eyes red and puffy from crying and your hair still in messy disarray (this time it was because of restless sleep and a clear emotional breakdown). I couldn’t tell if the makeup you had on during the day was washed away by your tears, or if you cleaned your face before the day ended. But I could see faint streaks on your cheeks. You wore a pair of flannel pants with a very big sweater.
It had been a few days (okay, weeks… Month and a half…) since I saw you at the park. My heart nearly stilled as I looked at you in the peephole. My body was paralyzed against the door. I watched as you lifted your hand and knocked again.
Except you didn’t get to knock, I had pulled the door open before you hit the door. You looked at me with shock on your face.
“Sorry, I wasn’t expecting you to be awake,” you whispered, dropping your gaze from my face. I stared at you with wide eyes. You came, expecting me to be asleep… I wondered what you would have done if I was asleep, and if you would have told me you showed up to my house so early in the morning (or late at night. Depends on how you look at it.).
“No, no… It’s okay. I was awake anyway. I was working on some files,” I lied and waved my hand off like it was nothing. “No, wait… Sorry. I was already awake. I was reading The Narrative of John Smith. I wasn’t doing any extra work,” I looked back at you.
“Why… Why were you awake?” you asked, furrowing your eyebrows. I watched as you brought your hand to your lips and bit your thumbnail. That was one of the many nervous ticks you had, and I wanted nothing more than for you to not be nervous around me.
“Couldn’t sleep. So I thought I’d have some tea and read a little bit.” I looked over my shoulder towards my book and teacup. I quickly looked back at you, scared you wouldn’t actually be there when I looked back. I let out a sigh of relief when my eyes landed on you. “What are you doing here?” I watched as you looked at the door jamb.
“I, uh, I’m ready to, uh… I’m ready to talk,” you whispered as you looked at me. You folded your arms over your chest as you kept your eyes on me. This was the first time I noticed that you looked different. And not because you were awake at 3:30 in the morning in the midst of a breakdown. You looked different and I didn’t know how to explain it.
“You’re… You’re ready to talk?” I asked, my voice suddenly trembling as I looked at you. You nodded as you wiped your eyes with your fingers.
“Yeah, yeah, uh…” you wrinkled your nose as you looked at the ground. “Figured it was time. Been a few months and wanted to talk,” you whispered at the ground. I stepped to the side and pulled the door open more.
“Do you want tea?” I asked, knowing tea calms you down. You looked back up at me and nodded lightly. You stepped into my apartment (which at some point was our apartment) and went right to the couch. I stood still for a moment before retreating to the kitchen.
I quickly poured the hot water into a new teacup. I grabbed a chamomile tea bag, the milk, and a bottle of honey before going back out to you.
“Chamomile… I brought you the milk and honey too. If you want something else and sugar… Or… Anything.” I whispered as I sat back down where I once was. I placed the items on the coffee table.
“Thank you,” you whispered, putting the tea bag into the cup.
“Is everything okay?” I asked, trying to figure out why the hell you were here and if I was actually dreaming. You steeped the bag a little bit in the water, your eyes looking at the steam swirling off the water.
“I could lie and say yes, but I don’t think that’d be fair to you, Spencer,” you finally looked at me. Tears were sitting in your eyes, threatening to fall. I shifted in my seat, turning to look at you more. “Everything is not okay,” you whispered, your voice breaking. I scanned the room, looking for a box of tissues. I got up and grabbed them for you. You took a few before blowing your nose.
“I’m-”
“Let me talk… Please, before you apologize,” you cut me off as you looked at me. I nodded and kept my eyes on you. You were still looking at me, the tears started rolling down your cheeks and you used your sleeve to dry them. You licked your lips as you looked for the right words to say. “JJ didn’t want me to come over,” you whispered, finally taking your eyes off me. You looked back at the steaming water. I could feel a familiar anger bubbling in my stomach, that was directed towards Jennifer. Of course, she didn’t want you to come over. “So I left when I knew she was asleep. I think the last time I did that was when I was 16,” you let out a dry laugh before you sipped your tea.
I stared at you, taking in the way you sat in a moment of silence. You were probably thinking of what you wanted to say. You were never good with words and articulating them. But, neither was I. “You know, like when you would sneak out of your house so whoever you were with didn’t wake up? God, I did that a lot as a teenager,” you laughed before sipping your tea. You shivered as the hot tea went down your throat. “Anyways, sorry… Basically, JJ doesn’t know I’m here,” you momentarily glanced at me before looking back at your tea.
“I won’t tell her you came,” I whispered as I turned to face you more. I watched as you leaned over and placed the teacup on the coffee table. You grabbed a random throw pillow off the couch and hugged it close to your body, as if it was some sort of protection.
“I don’t think you understand how hard life has been for me the last couple of months, Spencer,” you whispered, keeping your eyes anywhere but me. I furrowed my eyebrows, not because I was confused. But because I wasn’t sure what you were going to say. “And… and I’ve been trying to wrap my head around why you left, and what I did wrong to make you leave, and… I’m still working on getting better… But, I found something out and it broke me back down…” you whispered as you looked over at me. You were very cautious as you looked at me. Tears were fresh in your eyes again, and I knew you weren’t going to be able to control them. You sniffled and closed your eyes.
“What’s wrong,” I asked, keeping my voice low. I didn’t want it to go any louder in fear of my voice breaking the slightest bit. Tears started to blur my vision as I looked at you.
“Why’d you leave me in the first place?” You asked instead of answering me. Part of me wanted to point out that you answered my question with a question. But I didn’t bother.
“I got scared of losing you,” I whispered and looked down at the couch. That was partly true. I did, indeed, fear losing you. That wasn’t the whole truth… I was scared of losing you but I was more scared of hurting you.
I wrinkled my nose as tears started running down my cheeks. “And, I didn’t think about the consequences and outcome of me just… leaving,” I looked up at you. I left out the true reasoning for me leaving you. I could tell you knew I was leaving something out. But neither of us wanted to point it out.
“You did a lot more than lose me, Spencer,” you dryly laughed again as you spoke. I swallowed roughly and nodded.
“Yes, I know. And it was a mistake. You don’t understand how much I regret leaving. I’ve never wanted to take something back so badly in my entire li-”
“I’m pregnant, Spencer,” you cut me off and spoke. Your tone was filled with authority and you were so sure when you spoke. It totally caught me off guard, I wasn’t sure if I heard you correctly.
“I’m… I’m sorry. Wh-what? You’re what?” I stared at you, my lips parted and eyes wide. I swear my heart stopped as I tried to comprehend what you said. Or… it was going so fast and I just couldn't feel it.
“I’m pregnant. And, obviously, it’s yours. I’ve contemplated so many things. But, I think you would have killed me if you didn’t know,” you whispered as you looked away from me. I looked at you, trying to find the right words to say, but I couldn’t figure out what to say.
Then I thought back to the park. You were so dismissive, which is allowed considering the things I had done and said to you. Or the lack of things said to you. But then I remembered how natural Michael looked in your arms and how you were with Henry and how different you seemed. Jennifer was talking about you, about you just-ing something but she cut herself off… Jennifer knows.
“Does Jennifer-”
“Yes, she knows. She knew when we saw you at the park… And she knew when I talked to Emily about transferring,” you whispered, picking at the fabric of pajamas. Your voice was so soft, I felt bad for leaving you and I tried to not be mad at you for keeping something so big from me. “Emily knows too…” you answered my next question.
“You’ve known for that long?” I finally found words to say. You looked at me like you were a kid who was getting in trouble. But you weren’t getting in trouble. I was just… Mad at myself.
“I… I, uh, I didn’t know what to do. And, JJ was the only person I could talk to about it.” Your words were soft and quiet and you avoided me and my eyes like the plague.
I wanted to be mad… But I didn’t exactly have the right to be mad at you. After all the things I did to you? It wasn’t fair if I snapped at you. You knew this too. You knew me well enough to know that I wanted to be mad.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” I asked after some time had passed. It felt like hours, but in reality, it was only a mere few minutes.
“Because… I wasn’t sure if I was going to stay in DC… I wasn’t sure if I even wanted it…”
“Clearly you do if you’re telling me,” I whispered and looked at you. You looked at me, ready to protest, but failed when you realized I was right. You knew I was right. Why else would you be telling me that you’re pregnant if you didn’t want it? You dropped your head before nodding.
“There’s more to you leaving me though, isn’t there? It wasn't just about losing me,” you asked, changing the subject back to me. You didn’t want to talk about your pregnancy that you’ve known about for several months. So, I swallowed roughly before nodding. “What was it? Were you cheating on me? Were you bored with me? Did I do something wrong? Was it something I did? Or was it something I didn't do?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong… It was all me…” I paused and looked up at you. You were looking at me, intently watching me. I took a deep breath as I lifted my hand to wipe your cheeks. “I wasn’t cheating on you, and I wasn’t bored with you,” I pulled my hand back to my lap and flexed my fingers. “I think it was just… Work was getting overwhelming… And,” my words trailed off for a moment, causing me to sigh.
“That’s not a good enough reason, Spencer, you know that,” you looked at me and shook your head. Your tone was short. There was no hiding it, you knew there was something else. I just didn’t have the heart to tell you the truth… But, I had to.
“The issue stopped being the actual problem… and it became me wanting to hurt you… And… And I never want to feel that way… Be-because I love you.” I looked up at you, watching the tears slip down your cheeks. “I don’t want to hurt the people that I love,” my voice was hardly above a whisper, “I guess… I-I need help, and I didn’t realize it till… till I had those thoughts,” I could feel my words shaking as I spoke. You looked at me with worry in your eyes.
“Spencer,” you whispered. I looked up at you and watched as you reached over, nervously placing your hand on my knee. I looked at you and let out a deep breath. Part of me wasn’t so sure we should be having this conversation at 4 in the morning. But here we are, having it. “After everything you’ve been through, with… With prison, and… and Cat, and Scratch…” your words trailed off as you spoke of the horrors I’ve lived through within the last few years, “Of course you need help… And… And we can get you the help that you need,” you whispered as you looked up at me. My eyes stayed glued to the hand you had resting on my knee. You were here… With me...
“It was just too much… And… I-I’m happy I didn’t do anything…. To…” I paused and took a shaky breath, but also to keep myself from saying that I almost did hurt you. Although, I did hurt you when I left. “I just didn’t know how to ask for help, even when I didn’t reali-”
"Spencer,” you started, your voice low and quiet. I could hear the raspiness in your voice. I’m sure it was the exhaustion of life for you. And it was my fault...
“I’m sorry for hurting you,” I whispered. I knew just saying sorry wasn’t going to be enough. Something else needed to be said, but I didn’t know what. “I’m so sorry,” I couldn’t help but repeat my apology even as I brought a hand to cover my eyes, and as I fell forward to let a sob go through my body.
“Hey, hey, Spence, it’s okay…” You whispered as you rested a hand on my back. I could feel you move closer to me as you embraced me better. I sat up and looked over at you. “I… I can’t accept your apology right… right now… But, I think we can work on it. We both need help… We can help and heal… Together…” you turned to face me more. Your gentle hands grasped both mine, holding them in the space between our bodies.
“It’s something we’ll both have to work on,” you looked at me before looking down at our hands. I stared at you, waiting to hear you continue. My heart was beating faster than it should and I was only a little worried about it stopping. I could feel my palms getting hot and sweaty on the leather couch.
“You… You…” I swallowed roughly and squeezed my eyes shut. Tears rolled down my cheeks, causing me to roughly push them away.
“Obviously I want you back in my life, Spencer. I’m sure you’re aware of how hard these few months have been for me,” you whispered, your voice so soft, I’m happy there were no other sounds. I’m sure I wouldn’t have heard you if it was 4 in the afternoon instead of 4 in the morning. “But, you have to understand, things are going to have to change in order for us to work. Especially now… that I’m pregnant,” you whispered and nodded.
“Of course! No, I know that! I understand that more than anything in the world.” I moved closer to you and nodded. My heart finally returned to it’s normal speed. “I’ll stay. And not because you’re pregnant. I knew I wanted you back right when I realized my mistake,” I whispered, looking down at our hands. Your hand was on top of mine, and your thumb rubbed the back of my hand. “I can’t apologize enough, because no matter how many times I apologize… Sorry won’t be enough.” I wrinkled my nose and looked back at you.
“I’m not going to give you anymore second chances, Spencer. Please, understand that… You have to get help… If not for me, or yourself, for our child…” You spoke with a sureness in your voice. You knew what you wanted, and you knew you were going to get it. Honestly, I was going to give it to you too.
“No, no, I do… I do understand… I’ll get all the help I can. I promise,” I kept my eyes on you. A worried feeling overtook my body, I was worried that all of this was just a dream and you’d be gone when I’d wake up. But you were here and it wasn’t just a dream.
At this point, I’d be willing to do anything to keep you safe, and our unborn child safe. I knew I didn’t want to mess this up. I didn’t want to miss any moments or chances of a family. Considering you were my family and I’ve known that for a long time. I didn’t want to lose any more time with you. These last few months without you were the roughest, and I didn’t want that anymore.
