Natsuki had offered they baked together –- easy peasy , she’d thought . But considering how this was going ...

NATTY - PATTY •:

In full honesty, Natsuki was far from sure how it managed to get Monika of all people to bake with her in the first place ━━━ they couldn’t remember a time they’d seen Monika cook at all, much less baking, be it for the group, fun or for a school event. maybe for someone who always seemed at least a tad above average in nearly anything, it never occurred to her that, well, she wasn’t much good at it! that’d be a lie, though, since Natsuki had considered it, but in her own stubborn mind had determined that they’d teach her if that was the case! no wrong answers, right? they were just following a recipe, after all!

But Natsuki had forgotten about the sworn enemy of all bakers & chefs in their confidence that they couldn’t easily mess up on a recipe when everything was already spelled out for them ━━━ they forgot about burning them.

but Natsuki was never one too quick to give in to a challenge! Onwards, then!

“ Nonsense! “ is Natsuki’s instant retort, waving a batter-covered spoon like a wand through the air as the batter continued crawling up the neck of it, joining the stringy strands together already wrapped around it. it reached over across the counter-top, upper body almost touching the mounds of flower collected on it ( barely unscathed from the powder’s grainy wrath ) to wrangle a cupcake out of the tin, delicate hands popping it out with surprising ease, before taking a large bite of the top with the confidence of Jesus Christ himself. ━ was it burnt? probably, but Natsuki wasn’t about to flinch in the face of their friend’s baking! besides, how long could it have been left in for anyway?

“ my baking might be legendary, but forté shmorté! i almost lit a pan on fire because I used the wrong kind of spray to grease it, you’re already a hop above that! “ was that exaggeration? who knows!

If anyone were to cook a feast –- or storm ! –- the teen in pink was her immediate go - to . Monika admired it’s determination , oftentimes being invigorated by Nat’s drive for success , she fed from her friend’s enthusiasm like a succubus .

❝ But definitely , Natty - Patty , ❞ the frustratingly cute nickname slurs from Monika’s mouth in a jingle as she rests the tray to the side . The bookworm gives it’s cheek a quick pinch before continuing to add to her ego , ❝ I’d say it is legendary . I find it hard to believe you’d mess up so badly , though ... ❞

Taking a cupcake for herself , Monika gives a curt nod as she reminds both parties of the terms of service that come with consumption of first - time meals . ❝ Just be warned that if these happen to be poisoned , I’m not liable , ahaha ! ❞

&&. the cupcake meets her mouth , a moments hesitation before Monika’s teeth dig deep into the base like she were biting the crust of the very earth off it’s mantle . Crumbs fall behind her connecting lips as her head moves back , cheeks puffed like a chipmunk as she chews &&. --

❝ A ... aaahhh ... ❞ Her face screws up , nose scrunching like a cat meeting unwanted pets to it’s face . It’s more than unpleasant , she can’t deny that her cooking is inherently bad in practice . Something she shared in common with Sayori , at least . ❝ Excuse me while I ... ❞

Monika ducks behind the trashcan , not puking , but instead wiping her tongue off in such comical fashion that was unlike her natural elegance . Icy blue ribbons waving in the wind were traded for contorted faces resembling that of ugliness never thought capable for her , &&. actions unbefitting her usual spring in her step that caused heads to turn .

Brains and beauty Monika was only that , truly .

❝ Nat ... it really is terrible . ❞ Where others would dwell in discouragement from the lack of immediate skill , the school girl manages a good - hearted laugh as she turns back to the stout classmate . ❝ Nobody can convince me otherwise ! SATURN

–TEAM GALACTIC – SATURN

Saturn was checking on his berry patches, his Crobat flying close behind him. He'd been planting them for his team, choosing a select few he knew his pokemon liked. He didn't get to do it often, caring for his team like this, so he liked to cherish every moment. He loved doing things with his pokemon that they both enjoyed, and he'd found that his Crobat enjoyed watching him water and plant berries. He'd enjoyed gardening since he was little, but he'd never admit that.

Though, his happy thoughts were swiftly interrupted by the other's voice.. and her Eevee. "H-Hey! What're you doing here?!" The mere thought of another person seeing him in his garden seemed to embarrass him a bit, he didn't want people to think little of him! "Nobody's supposed to be here!"

His shocked and annoyed expression had a stark contrast to his Crobat's dorky smile, who didn't seem bothered by the two. Infact, the large pokemon's eyes seemed to follow the Eevee around, landing on Saturn's head so it could continue to watch, much to his dismay. "H-Hey! Crobat!! G-Get off! I can't carry you!"

𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐊𝐀 𝐈𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐎 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄 when she spots the other trainer , grasping Porygon - Z’s ultra ball before better judgement washes over her . Slowly , a smile sprouts on her face as Eevee’s hackles spike before lowering again .

He’s friendly , see ? ❞ Monika kneels , reassuringly patting the evolution pokemon while Saturn struggles with Crobat . ❝ Sorry about that , Eevee is a bit of an adventurer . She’s always a bit alarmed when there’s someone around we don’t know –- especially strangers behind trees on totally abandoned routes . ❞

That final comment is on - the - nose and very clearly targeted at Saturn���s suspicious activity . Before he can retaliate though , she’s continuing to explain her curiosity ,

❝ We were just passing through back to Jubilife City , or had been before we got lost . Didn’t think we’d see anyone , haha .ᐟ May I ? ❞ Monika approaches the garden , pointing to the berry patches , ❝ Would you like some help as well ? ❞ She snorts at Saturn’s predicament with Crobat .
