this will be tagged and everything under a read more, but just to be extra clear:
THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR 2.2 STORY.
if you haven't finished it, don't read this until you have. you have been warned.
so i am... underwhelmed by p.enacony as a story
and before i go further, i want to throw out a quick disclaimer bc otherwise i know there will be someone who comes at me for it: i am by no means saying p.enacony is bad. it isn't. there are some truly great elements to both the setting and the story. my issue with it is simply that i struggled to become invested in it, personally
i already touched on this a bit with my thoughts after catching up to 2.1, but i generally don't enjoy the intrigue kind of plots in stories. that's my personal preference, and that's why i'm not sitting here like: OMG IT'S SO BAD- bc it isn't, it's just a genre of plot that i'm never that interested in. we all have our preferences and that's okay
overall, p.enacony & the story has been interesting and engaging. a few too many lengthy dialogue sections where a lot of information is thrown at you in a short time, which i also don't like in anything, a few moments where the story completely lost my interest, but overall, enjoyable, creative, cleverly done
however
AND AGAIN. these are my OPINIONS (and i don't care if you disagree-)
i'm sorry, but i cannot bring myself to care about f.irefly. THAT'S NOT TO SAY i don't enjoy the portrayals the people i follow have, because i do - honestly, you guys are the only reason i have any interest in the character. but CANONICALLY? i do not care. there is just.... nothing there for me
and i'm talking specifically about f.irefly bc they are a key character in this part of the story (and by key, i mean features heavily) - there are other characters involved that i also care nothing about, for example, but are more background players. i don't know if it's the clearly forced romantic implications between f.irefly & MC (i hate the term usually, but, why are we simping so hard????), the fact we were supposed to have any kind of emotional attachment to a character we met for less than an hour before they were 'killed' in front of us, or the unresolved questions i have regarding their involvement in the story, but.... i just don't care
and before anyone dares to even think it: no, this is not just bc i am "salty" about sam. i am actually really intrigued about how the sam/f.irefly thing works, why it is the way it is, etc. "if f.irefly was a guy you wouldn't-" no, shut up, i absolutely would. if we were presented with a male character with the same plot, i would care equally as little for them. why? because there's no emotional investment
i'm not trying to shit on anybody who does love this character. again, this is just my views based on my preferences - if you developed that emotional attachment, then great, go wild with it. i'm sure i care intensely for characters that others don't (see: ratio-). but for me, some of the f.irefly elements of 2.2 just... didn't vibe with me. and maybe i'll have to watch a playthrough again to really get the nuances of the plot settled in my head, but i just. nah. i'm not feeling it at all. i'm going to just trust that the people i follow can continue to build on f.irefly and do better than the canon plot for me
and as for the flashback-type scenes we got between f.irefly and blade? i know what some parts of the fandom are reading from that and i don't agree. to me, there is nothing 'fatherly' about the way he chides f.irefly on trying to go against the script. please stop trying to cram him into a role that doesn't fit him. you can have a 'found family' dynamic without the members of such fitting into 'traditional' family roles. that's not the point. i think f.irefly using that particular model is feeding into this too much - people are only seeing the "cute girl" and nothing more. people need to remember that f.irefly is also sam, who is known for being a stone cold killer. sam, who once held blade down so he could be convinced to join the s.tellaron hunters. this is not a father-daughter relationship vibe at all. please, please get that the fuck away from me.
on a similar note, i really didn't care for that "oops, it was all just a dream!" thing (though i am glad we didn't actually call upon j.ing y.uan for help - that would have felt really cheap to me). i kinda figured something was up when the boss fight was so quick and... well, easy (not that the real one was hard for me - not a brag, i just have some decent fckn units at my disposal & could build harmony TB instantly), but i do really hate the 'it was just a dream' trope, even when it makes sense in the setting that is p.enacony & the dreamscape. it just felt unnecessary to me, almost like they wanted to drag the story out a bit longer and add in another layer to their 5D chess game
so yeah.... elements that i didn't care for, elements i didn't enjoy. p.enacony in general is a bit of a nightmare for me personally due to sensory overload from all the sounds and colours (and please, can we stop with that acid-trip border effect hyv, it's literally giving people migraines-), which also adds to it. it's not the vibe i typically enjoy so i do take that into consideration when expressing my opinions about it. i know a lot of people love p.enacony & i'm happy for everyone who has been invested in it from day one. that's me with the l.uofu, so, i get it
but as i said, overall, great. i loved the sunday reveal, the boss fight was fun to do (though i feel like a.venturine was better & harder-), and my only complaint about harmony TB is seeing that fucking clock in the ult animation every time. the mikhail & misha reveal was also great & confirmed theories i had & the tying-up of the loose 'nameless' ends was nice.
my final gripe is regarding g.allagher and that is entirely bc i have been building hcs based on a theory that proved to be wrong, and i'm like... really sad that there wasn't anything more to it than that. going forward, i'm definitely making him canon divergent here bc i don't like the way his story ended (if it has, though he did imply 'g.allagher' would cease to exist, so...)
but i did find it amusing that 'death' was just a silly little pet dog who got confused sometimes. he's just a lil guy

Hi Derin!
Recently I came across one of your long posts about clothes, and it was a long long branching thread but it basically amounted to " the only way to stop humanity from man-made extinction caused by the fashion industry is to start wearing outfits made of many high-quality layers where every single piece down to your bra is made out of high quality materials that are EXPENSIVE but designed to last for decades, and in order to do that we need to start wearing underwear that covers bigger percentage of our skin than just a bra and a g string ,the way our ancestors did" and while I agree with that, I am wondering about something- JUST HOW do we adapt this kind of underwear that our ancestors wore to modern fashion, bc there are some very big differennces between " modern fashion" and " the fashion of yore" namely
Modern fashion includes many, many different styles of "tops" and "bottoms" ,from long jackets to tank tops cropped just under your nipples and full length trousers to miniskirts, while the fashion of yore was basically " you wear a cultural equivalent of a nun's habit every single day of your life, from the day you were born until the day that you die, no ifs or buts" (yeah yeah a MASSIVE oversimplification but bear with me here)
Modern fashion "strives" to be gender neutral, while the fashion of yore was basically like " there are two sexes, and if you wear clothes designed for the 'wrong' sex we're legally allowed to murder you with extra cruelty" ( YES I KNOW EVEN BIGGER OVERSIMPLIFICATION)
so yeah that's something that I was wondering for the past couple of days and I was wondering if you have any good ideas about how to solve those problems
My opinion on the matter is that fabric was just fine twenty years ago. Those clothes can last a long time under normal use and washing without being painstakingly hand-spun and woven to be part of a wardrobe that costs as much as a small home.
But if you did want to go back to protective layering, it's not hard. I do it, mostly because I can't stand the cold, so if you live in a cold climate you don't even have to change your fashion; just put the softest, thinnest tracky daks and long-sleeved tshirt you own on under your other clothes. Boom, skin layer. If you live in a warm climate, then do that with smaller clothes, I guess, shorts and skivvies or whatever, whatever fits under the clothes you like to wear.
To answer your broader question, you've got it entirely backwards. Never once in the history of clothing have the materials and industry adapted to the fashion. The fashion is an expression of the materials and the industry. The creation of the industrial loom alters the fashion, not the other way round. The availability of elastic changes the fashion, not the other way around. The changing climate and changing needs of the wearer (hard-wearing clothes for labourers, etc.) changes the fashion, not the other way around. Fashion is an intersection of culture, environment and industry; it can be used as a tool for politics and market demand, same as any cultural artefact, but it needs to be practical within its environment. If wearing barrier layers became popular again, then the clothing that people wore would be clothing that they find comfortable and good looking over barrier layers.
From the context of this post I assume you're alluding to European feudal and pre-industrial clothing, although high quality fabric has existed for most of human history in societies that did and did not wear barrier layers, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'the cultural equivalent of a nun's habit'. A nun's habit had the cultural equivalent of a nun's habit. I'm not a historian but I can't think of any society of the type you're alluding to where everyday clothing would be equivalent to a nun's habit in any way beyond being, y'know, clothes. What do you mean by this? (Also, people back then also wore a great many styles of clothing; I'm not sure why you list that as a specifically modern thing.)
Modern fashion, on the whole, absolutely does not strive to be gender neutral, but if it did, this would not in any way restrict fabric quality or the use of barrier layers. Men's and women's clothing of yore were both looked after.

I found you via your OLDD age of ultron opinion, and it genuinely made me so seen?? Or smt bcs the whole scene with thor and tony JUST MADE ME BAFFLED??
Like I was in shock when thor choked him and how no one did anything, so really this is jyts me asking for more age of ultron opinions, or really any opinions with tony & the avengers!!
man i'm about to fight with some idiots in my inbox for answering this lol
1 Ultrons corruption
Im still baffled about how no one seems to understand why Ultron got corrupted, they just go to 'Tony bad'. Upon activation he quickly assesses humanity and concludes that humans are a threat to earth 💀
They tend to forget that Vision worked and thats what Tony wanted from the beginning. Visions creation was influenced by Tony and Bruce but also by the human elements within them and was heavily shaped by JARVIS. The turning point was the mind stone which was a crucial part of Visions creation but instead of driving him toward destruction like Ultron it provided him with a sense of compassion, morality and understanding of humanitys redeeming qualities
The difference here is that Vision had JARVIS (Tony's creation) as a stabilizing force whereas Ultron had only his own corrupted interpretation of reality (seeing humans, war and more). JARVIS had years of learning through interaction with Tony and over time developed an understanding of human emotions. J was not just a machine, it learned from Tonys experiences and emotions adapting to them over time and this shaped how it acted and thought. The problem with Ultron wasnt just with the AI itself or the way Tony and Bruce built it, Ultron viewed humanitys flaws as the source of the problem basically his 'human example' came from the internet and human history, full of examples of greed, violence and war... kinda like the world we're living in now lol
2 Wanda's comment about Tony not knowing the difference between saving the world and destroying it
...
hahaha!
WILD coming from her. This belief was not directly inherited from Tony but was a result of Ultrons own corrupted logic and perception of reality. And let's not talk about some of her choices because... the quote would perfectly fit her. Also Cap trusting what this girl he barely knew at the time said instead of Tony... i knew his rat ass belonged to the 1940s. Also, Tony didn't kill her parents, OBADIAH STANE did. Obadiah was the one manipulating the system, dealing with dangerous people and profiting from war, not Tony. Just like Bucky didn't kill Tony's parents because he wanted to, he was brainwashed. None of them enjoyed the consequences of these actions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But guess who did?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3 Tony's emotional investment in Peter was ultimately one of the most self sacrificial parts of his character arc
Like it or not, Tonys death was partly the result of the pain he carried from his failure to protect Peter during the snap. By investing emotionally in Peter, Tony made himself vulnerable. His concern for Peters well being made him open to loss in a way he hadnt been before. He could have kept his distance emotionally like in hoco maintaining his usual guarded self reliant attitude but with Peter, Tony made a conscious decision to invest deeply, knowing that it would open him up to the possibility of great personal loss. Tonys fear wasnt just about the universe being destroyed, it was about Peter being taken from him. That was the ultimate self sacrifice, he allowed himself to love and care for someone else knowing that it would hurt if he ever lost them. Loving Peter killed him lol curse of the spidermen father figures
You see, in this moment, Tony didn't know he was gonna die soon:

Bite-sized Korean with 이게 맞아?!
*disclaimer: I am not Korean, I am not fluent in Korean, but I have taken formal classes, so this is to the best of my knowledge. If anything is amiss, please let me know either privately or in the comments of this post.
youtube
I'm going to discuss what Jimin says in the first three seconds of the trailer!
지민: 오늘 정국이 잘 때 안 춥게 형이 옆에서 꼭 안아줄게 I'll give you a cuddle tonight so that you don't feel cold.
Let's dive into the 단어!
Tumblr media
오늘 - Today (but in this context, it's translated as tonight bc it's encapsulating the notion of it being *later* in the same day)
정국 - Jungkook
자다 to sleep
자다 in this case is conjugated to 잘 때 when added to the ~을/ㄹ 때 form, which indicates when a verb occurs/is performed. so it's like, when you sleep.
안 - Not
춥다 Cold
춥다 is added onto the grammatical form of ~게 and becomes 춥게, which functions like "so that" or "to allow for" in English. This is used to explain what influences the speaker to perform a certain action. Usually forms like this might appear awkward to the average English speaker because the form is usually structured backwards from what we're used to.
형 - Hyung
옆 Next to (paired with a ~에서, a dynamic location particle)
꼭 - Tightly, firmly (in this particular context)
안다 to embrace, to hug, to hold within one's arms
안다 is combined with the ~아/어주다 form, which indicates that the speaker wants the listener to do something for them. I'd say this form mostly closely equates to asking for a favor from someone. Since 안다 is a verb that is commonly paired with 주다 (to give), this form can also demonstrate that you are also doing something on behalf of the listener. In more polite forms, you'd use the verb 드리다 (for humility), but Jimin is older (and close) with Jungkook, so he uses comfortable language and sticks to 주다. 안아주 is then added to ~ㄹ/을게(요) form and becomes 안아줄게, which is when the speaker states their intention to do something unless the listener refutes them.
So ig you can see this sentence like: When you sleep tonight, so that you don't get cold, hyung will be next to you and will hold you tight.
That's a little too wordy, however.
Tumblr media
Other Notes | 때 usage
There's also a form of 때 that can be paired with nouns. ~을/ㄹ 때 is used exclusively with verb forms, but you can use 때 by itself next to nouns. ex: 방학 때 - during (school) vacation
중학교 때 제가 좋아하는 과목은 수학이었어요. When I was in/During middle school my favorite subject was math. 중학교 middle school, 제 my, 좋아하다 to like, 과목 subject, 수학 math, 이다 to be
Also another form of 때 is ~을/ㄹ 때까지, which is like, until (verb) occurs. In this case, 때 is added to ~까지, which means until/up to. In the song Spring Day (봄날), at the end they sing:
다시 봄날이 올 때까지 Until that spring day comes again 다시 again, 봄날 spring day, 오다 to come
피울 때까지 Until the flowers bloom 꽃 flower(s), 피우다 to bloom
Other notes | ~ㄹ/을까(요), ~ㄹ/을게(요), ~ㄹ/을래(요) verb attachments
~ㄹ/을게(요) is like, I'm going to do this (if that's alright) or I'm planning on doing this (if you're fine with it). It's more of a statement rather than a question/suggestion, but it carries a kind of nuance that can fish for the consent/permission of the listener.
불을 켜드릴게요. I'm going to turn on the light (for you). 불 light, 켜다 to light, ignite
~ㄹ/을래(요) is an invitational form that usually expresses the desire or want to do something. It's like forming proposals like, "will you do… (together)", "let's...", "would you like to...", or "do you want to...". It's a form that pays more attention to what the listener wants to do.
같이 밥 먹을래요? Let's eat together/Shall we eat together? 같이 together, 밥 rice/meal, 먹다 to eat
~ㄹ/을까(요) is also an invitational form, asking "should I..?", "I'm thinking of...(but give me your thoughts)", "should we…?". Honestly, when I first encountered this form, I wondered what made it different from 을/ㄹ래(요), but from my understanding this form values the opinion of the other person (about information they may not know) and also asks for an opinion or permission about things that have yet to occur. So this form can almost be used like the English statement of: "What do you think? Should we...?"
불을 꺼줄까요? Do you want me to turn off the light? 불 light, 끄다 to put out, to extinguish
Tumblr media
That's all! Until next time ;p

What's your honest opinion on Edo-tensei? Do you think it's a technique Kishimoto didn't master and that got away from him at the end of Naruto? Do you think it should have been explored more? Do you think it had more potential? Sometimes I feel like there was more to tell, more of Naruto's world. Did anyone else study this, and did Tobirama discover those studies? Did he discover it in Uzhio? Because in the Uzumaki Ruins, Minato discovered a technique that allows you to make a pact with a Shikigami... Or I don't know, I'm overthinking it.It's a technique that divides the fandom a lot. But it's a technique like many others; it's a weapon, the work says so, but it's even more divisive because of its requirements.
this is somewhat ooc for me but even with all the volumes i bought yesterday, i still don't actually own most of part one, including pretty much all of the konoha crush arc, i.e., the intro to edoten. so i'm kinda going off of memory here, sorry in advance for any inaccuracies. also, concerning minato (will address him in a bit), the version of volume 53 that i have is in english bc it's one of the ones i got from my brother, so i can't swear to how accurate the translation is.
starting from the top!
ok so. edo tensei is bullshit. and i think everyone knows that on some level. but once it existed it kinda couldn't. not anymore? edoten was introduced to show off the third hokage's abilities before killing him off (and ig establishing orochimaru as a Truly Evil villain but like. idk he's trying to eat people in the woods i feel like the zombies didn't really add to that much). ultimately almost everything about edo tensei is weird and kinda stupid if you think about it too much (and the rules keep changing! why did orochimaru try summoning minato then when by all accounts he had to have known he wouldn't be able to???? did he just decide "ok i'm gonna fuck with sensei on this one lol"? bc i'd believe that)
i won't pretend i dislike edoten or the role it played in the story, but overall it would've been better not to have made it at all. just made a huge mess. glad it's around, enjoy the chaos, the way to make it make sense is to pull it altogether. sorry edoten
that said, how tobirama created his jutsu isn't super dwelled on, as far as i can remember? it's kinda just "and then the second hokage created a new jutsu which was immediately put in the big scroll of Big Bro Says No" and i think we're kinda not supposed to think about it too much bc that would lead to more comparisons between orochimaru as he was introduced initially and tobirama as he was later established (from what i remember of it, they were pretty different than they were when he brought them back for the war arc, but as mentioned, i don't own that volume).
but i DO own volume 53! as kushina says, minato learned his sealing from her (and some from jiraiya iirc). but uh the thing is. idk if minato actually knew much about sealing aside from how to do it bc a lot of what he says in this volume made no damn sense. for starters, he seems to think that there's a limit to what seals he can do bc he's not a jinchuuriki, something that.... no one has ever said ever except for him right there. what did he mean by this. was he referring to how much chakra he has???? is he just dumb????? impossible to say bc this is to my knowledge literally never mentioned again ever. he then says that he's going to seal away only half of the nine tails bc. it's not possible to seal away all of it. he is speaking to his wife. who until like ten minutes ago had been living with all of the kyuubi's power sealed inside her, much like her predecessor. unless they weren't and being freed from kushina somehow reunited the kyuubi with the other half of his power, something that would have then also been true when he was transferred from mito to kushina (note that no one except minato has ever used the reaper death seal for this. in fact kushina was going to be using a different seal to put it (all) back inside of her so minato just kinda. died from being stupid i think????? then again apparently tobito was saying he wanted to rule the whole world back then and this volume is AFTER the one in which he explains the whole eye of the moon plan thing so maybe the real reason naruto is the chosen one is that the universe literally just did not experience consistency until he learned how to ask for grandpa third for more ramen money)

what do you think jason's life would be like if he had been taken in by someone other than bruce? as in bruce researches a good foster home instead of sending him to maa gunn's or something and he gets to be raised by a relatively normal foster family? what job would he work? what would he major in (i know english is a popular answer but i would also love to hear your opinions on other subjects for him)? if we're talking pre crisis then maybe nocturna (maybe even harvey bullock) but what about post crisis?
idc what bruce's life would be like without jason, i just wanna know how jason's life would pan out without bruce being too involved, i don't like the "he would have died without bruce finding him" route some people take because the possibilities seem endless
HI HI HI!!!!!!!!
There is SO MUCH potential there for him!! So many possibilities to think about it's so so fun..
Personally, I enjoy making it so Jason never dies or becomes something like a crime lord under anyone's care except Bruce's- even including other heros. It is a small joy I give myself
Sooo much potential with what families could adopt him.. like.. awahh there's just so many branches and opportunities for him...
Different families for Jason is really interesting to think about. I think he'd be very against it at first in a way he wasn't against Bruce. Like other than Bruce (literally batman taking him in + gave him the gotham child fantasy dream of being Robin, etc) and Sheila (2 years of having to live with Batman and without friends + connection to his parents) Jason is rather against new parental figures in his life. I MEAN. ok so Nocturna did kinda kidnap him and Catwoman took Bruce's attention which he does hate but like. I stand by this. He does NOT mesh well with being freshly adopted, he's very independent and sees himself grown. But also I will say this is like. A minor conflict overall. A brief bit of tension. He will not start fine with it but Jason is rather desperate for attention and care and I think having his needs met would smooth things out. He is fiercely loyal once he starts liking you but he's gotta start liking you.
On the other hand. I do think Jason would have a rougher time with siblings. Like. It is undeniable Jason gets pretty jealous, certainly in pre-crisis. Dick didn't have issue bc he doesn't live with Bruce and Jason looks up to Dick (though Jason certainly has complicated feelings about him) like I don't think he'd quite know how to deal with it. I can see it being less of an issue than it would be with Bruce (his attachment to B + his isolation from fellow heros + his isolation from fellow kids) but I dunno. I think it should definitely be a point of note even for a little bit. Especially once he gets attached to a parent- potential siblings would be something Jason would tackle with. He's been an only child all his life and he CRAVES attention. He told Julia to move out he hated Catwoman he hangs out with other people when Bruce isn't giving him attention to prove himself or get back at Bruce LIKE. There's gonna be a curve for him. And I think unpleasant feelings will definitely arise if he isn't the favorite but another kid is or if the other kid is taken somewhere and he isn't.
I know fans like putting him in a caretaker role and I do think Jason would take it up if he felt it needed, but I want, more than anything, for a no Bruce au to allow him to be a child
Now this is very largely pre-crisis and I DO fully believe he'd do much better if less isolated and dependent on someone like Bruce for connection and attention. But I still think this should be a conflict early on at least. Like an early arc. A development to be done. Something to keep in mind and all that.
He ran away from Bruce to go back to his original connections BOTH in pre and post when he wasn't getting what he needed (i cheer him on). We hope his new family doesn't reach that point- though for them it might be more of him going to sit in his old home and talk to his old neighbors. I think itd be an interesting point to think about how a different life would lead to him facing Sheila, I can't see him being fine with leaving it alone just unanswered once he learns about her. Maybe he'd be older. Maybe he finds her somewhere else. Maybe he never physically finds her but something online. Maybe he tries but can't find anything. Maybe the search is done by another. But I don't see him leaving it fully alone once he knows. But that's enough about Sheila, she's a bit too associated with his end and feels like it all going down the same path anyway than I care for in this ramble, though there are thoughts to be had on it
He should run away a little bit though. I do think the main conflict of a better life should have him dealing with independence and attention. Being taken care of and having a new family. Not to the circus or a different country but yeah like his old home. Sorry I keep just like repeating this I'm not sure I'm getting the thoughts to paper like a want so I just end up saying it again lol. It gets better and there WILL be better communication and he WILL be doing better than with Bruce but yknow?? If his story has any or initial conflict it will be this or have this somewhere at its core
I think, what's really important to me, is that Jason is a FAST learner. Hes so fast in lost days. If I made him into a pony his special talent would be being a fast learner. It's not like super relevant here I guess but it colors all I do
I also really love the civilian moments we get with Jason, I've made a (still barebones) highschool au with them, and I'm bringing them here too! Jason does extra credit work, he's asks whoever his guardian is to quiz him on the way to school sometimes, he does one of the school's sports (soccer is what's stated/implied, but I heavily associate Jason with baseball + to me that one panel of him playing is equal to one off text saying soccer) HE GOES TO AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS he works on plays/theater, either as a performer or behind the stage, I think both work well. I want him to THRIVE. I want him doing well and doing everything without Robin holding him back. I do not know how on earth he does theater and baseball but he's doing it anyway. I THINK one panel implied him with some sort of class presidency or something along those lines but I CANNOT find it again or know For Sure it was Jason saying it but something to think about maybe perhaps, though its not important to me. I mentioned it in my headcanons post but I definitely see Jason as just.. someone who is doing things all the time. He loves learning and gaining new skills and just doing things, it's real fun
I think Jason really genuinely enjoys school and he'd be able to do way more without Robin on his shoulders. The chance to be able to go back after having to drop out I'd say is really important to him
I imagine he wouldn't so deeply be labeled as boring if he got to do everything he wanted. Though it could still happen. He'd probably have more friends without Robin looming over and affecting him. Any siblings if his age I can see him kinda gravitating towards but kinda weird about if they have their own friends while he's still new in school, whether he joins into the group or forges his own could be an interesting storyline. On his own his friendgroup would be 3 max, not including himself, he does a little bit maybe have a need to dominate it out of a need for attention. I mean. Not like. Dominate it. But like??? He has a mild need to be better than the others in it. Competitive in a probably not very noticeable but happening in his own mind way.
I still haven't made it far in RHATO so how he does in a group/team dynamic thats on more equal ground is not something I've not really yet read or become familiar with in comics. And RHATO is after significant vigilante and Bruce influence. And written by lobdell. The titans team ups have him feeling lacking or like a substitute- Eddie was rather equal but the story deeply short- Annual 12 boys seems older than him but there might be something there about how they sorta brought him to their pack and that probably making him feel special and the leg up he has on them in grades and not getting in trouble. I wiped the intricacies of Countdown dynamics from my memories other than Jason being miserable and kicked down the whole time and being written as more of a generic asshole template character than himself
English is a popular subject but if I may be so real, I'm personally not a fan of it! Farthest I go is librarian or maybe even book store employee, which delight me, but going further is kinda like giving a character who just happens to enjoy drawing an art degree you know? Jason really absolutely enjoys books, but I can't see it as a teaching or studied thing. If he wrote a novel it wouldn't be his job. Just something he'd do. If he got a degree for it it'd be less out of need and more of just sorta Wanting to and having the time and funds
For jobs. I remain I sucker for mechanic or local theater- again in production or behind the scenes or both for theater. Jason loves knowing things and loves having his hands on things so definitely just sorta blue collar jobs I can see him leaning towards or Knowing how to do. I can also see him working for local businesses or in the back of a restaurant somewhere. There's also of course sports. Jason is a fascinating character who's really hard for me to pin in one spot, he has alot of options and he wants to do things. Job or jobs also might depend on the money situation of himself and family. But overall it's not actually that deeply different from how I imagine his canon self. Except ☝️ he can do more because there's no mask to haunt him or potential people he's failing to save. AND. I'm sticking acrobat in here. No Dick to compare to no adrenaline lost no clown murders- I'm giving him back his circus option. ...Now might be a good time to mention I casually mix pre and post crisis together when talking Jason because I think both matter.
He would rather avoid working at a zoo
MAJORS. If money is no obstacle and if not stopped I think he'd dip his toes in alot when it comes to college. I do think he would've like, gotten or earned a scholarship. Majors... I don't know too much about that really, engineering I suppose. Although, if adopted by Natalia there's also an option for astronomy, meteorology, or maybe aviation, I can see her encouraging a love of the sky in him.
Natalia I can see adopting him, rather than a Bruce Wayne plot it being the right place and time where she sees a kid on the streets that reminds her so much of her past self. Fucks with the timeline a bit but maybe have Anton in jail and escaped it already to keep the adoption timeline in place. Anton continues to want to kill a 12 year old. Maybe they become theives together, maybe Natalia takes to a less extravagant life with Jason around, maybe both. Awahh so many possibilities with this alone.... Thieves would probably put him in the direction of Bats like those Stray aus... OH! I'm. So wouldn't be stopped from all the thief tropes I like. It is Disguise and Drama time
BULLOCK!! awahhaahgh he was so important to Jason's story as Robin and I LOVE it and I WANT their friendship but oughh how does it go about now... Harvey adopting Jason would be a REALLY fascinating angle to explore... but without adoption.... Harvey should be a cop Jason decides to bother. Either a Knight Jason messing with him during heists or just a regular Todd who believes in acab. They could meet in a Jason running away plot. They could meet at the theater (does Harvey go for plays or is he more movies? I figure both could work?) They could warm up as Bullock goes through his character development. Ideal world Harvey quits the force. I struggle to see their friendship being quite as strong- or maybe that's just because it'd be in a different direction from solving cases..
Detail not gone in and I can't remember her name if she had one but I AM imagining Jason having a closer relationship with the lady that saved his n his parents things in A Death In The Family. And generally with more neighbors and people in the alley. I mean- this woman we've never heard of before was holding onto those things for him for maybe 2 years? I want Jason to feel more connected there and to its community, people who knew his parents before. Yknow?
Whoever adopts him tries to take him to see and visit Willis Also. May not succeed but they try
No matter what he DOES try to help if he feels no one else will so maybe he could still be a vigilante. Maybe he's offered a different world by a different hero- maybe on the magic he has
WAIT... I'm. Paramedic or doctor Jason...maybe firefighter. An everyday hero could be a fun direction. Firefighter spinning around in my head considering Jason died in an explosion and it's said from smoke inhalation...
I like to think he'd have a firmer sense of self, that he would've had a nice life with more friends and a more communicative family. I think he would've delved into school and pursued interests and passions for himself. Could've lived the rest of his childhood as a child instead of someone whos accepted as grown and old and pushed further into it. Vigilantism wouldn't be wholly off the table i dont think- but it wouldn't be all that's on it. And he'd get his own identity, never seen as a copy and never becomes a ghost or a warning. Maybe its not all sunshine and rainbows but fuck he's alive and happy and has his own name and knew he was loved.
This is a bit of a ramble bdjsbsks, endless possibilities but ah.. I also wanted him to be a happy...

You can’t just brand everyone who disagrees with you a racist. I am immigrant from a low socioeconomic background, I am black, and often black people in the U.S. miss how important those other parts of my identity are in shaping me beyond just my being black. It is a cheap shot trivializing serious struggles. You are entitled to your opinions about an online space and people might clash with you over your take on how to move on a fandom, but slapping that label of racist on them shuts down the conversation. This hurts folks at identity intersections… you’re muddling shit down to THEY ARE RACIST. THE END. While you’re here arguing online, people in warzones like Gaza or Sudan are dodging bombs, starving, or losing family. Their daily hell, displacement, grief, no clean water, makes these keyboard crusades look fucking pathetic. And overusing “racist” dilutes the term, distracting from their urgent realities and making it harder to call out actual bigotry. Stop weaponizing serious issues. It is correct to call someone out who called you a slur, but if people want to write something the same expression that allows them to do what they’re doing is what is allowing you to do what you’re doing.
You can’t just brand everyone who disagrees with you a racist.
i dont. and also i dont think you guys really understand what racism even is. it's not just a big overt thing, i mean it can be.... just look at who the fuck is in office here in the united states. people can be loud and proud about their racism.
it's the microaggressions. the interactions with non white followers/readers. the media that is consumed and the criticism of it. all of that is under the umbrella of racism. so sure, the people that have been mentioned in these asks aren't full blown bigots that are waving a white supremacy flag and saying they hate the black and brown people—but some are continuing to contribute to whiteness of it all. (the reader insert fics being white coded as fuck. being weird about virginity/innocence. moodbaords only including white cis women. barely any support for bipoc authors unless it's that time of the month where everyone all of the sudden wants to be all inclusive just to say that they are) or worse, they're silent when these conversations are happening.
and we're dealing with this shit at a fandom level, so while the problems might seem small here compared to the atrocities that are happening in the world around us: it's still important for us to treat these problems accordingly?? especially in a place where we have a little more control over it and can be more mindful of people that make up this fandom (a fandom for a brown man mind you.. that shit blows me every time)
I am immigrant from a low socioeconomic background, I am black, and often black people in the U.S. miss how important those other parts of my identity are in shaping me beyond just my being black.
this is a whole other conversation that i'm not certain this fandom has the capacity to handle. black usamericans and black people from other countries can sometimes see issues from different perspectives that are conflicting solely because of how racism looks in america vs the rest of the world.
While you’re here arguing online, people in warzones like Gaza or Sudan are dodging bombs, starving, or losing family. Their daily hell, displacement, grief, no clean water, makes these keyboard crusades look fucking pathetic.
you don't think majority of us recognize this? that we're not actively thinking about all of this in our day to day lives? how most of us have hella anxiety bc of it? bc we can't do shit about it bc we live in times where the government has instilled such fear into people that we feel helpless?? two things can be true and happening at once, that doesn't negate the other. stop trying to play oppression olympics.
Stop weaponizing serious issues.
literally no one here is doing that. except you, maybe, since you felt the need to bring up genocides while we're trying to have a discussion about racism in fandom.

Batman the Animated Series dropped the ball with the two-part Two Face origin episode, let's talk about it.
This is Not a rant about problematic representation even though I'm sure we're all aware it is. I'll get into my reasoning for scooting past that in a second. Also, I adore BTAS and it's formed a good chunk of my headcanons for characters which is why this let-down for me is so annoying!!
In my personal opinion, whatever mental health issues Harvey's got should not have been called multiple personality disorder (currently named dissociative identity disorder) - not because it's problematic to have DID characters where one of the personalities is a villain, bc like, anyone can be a villain. And also it's fun.
To be clear, I'm not saying that it's GREAT if this is the only DID representation in BTAS specifically, bc it then implies in this show with an audience of children that DID is what's causing the villainy, but Two-Face with DID isn't inherently terrible in all scenarios. Some people on this wonderful site and AO3 make Harvey and Two-Face DID stories in a fun and respectful way, so if you look at it through the very focused lense of this post that this audience is made of adults having fun and possessing awareness, Harvey and Two-Face are allowed to be separate people Morally or whatever. That's not the point.
It's because it's fuckin piss poor writing lol. They did it wrong.
Within the frame of the show, Two-Face doesn't have his own personhood, he's just Harvey But Angry. This means we never really get an aspect of "two people having to share a body", or a Jekell and Hyde "your body's been taken over!" horror (pop culture conception, not the actual book), or even a "hmm we know Harvey but who is Two-Face?" All of those possible interesting plotlines for multiple personalities, out the window.
I mean, I guess Two-Face has the coin thing as a distinction but like, why? Harvey brings out the coin when being "big bad harv", but we KNOW the coin toss is his expression of duality based specifically on the 'could' and the 'couldnts' of life that he discovered after Harvey lost his original goals for the future (+his face) because he explains that out loud in the episode so like ???
Then on top of that, the backstory has nothing to do with the actual disorder, it's just that "Harvey felt the need to push down his emotions and eventually started characterizing said emotions as something different than himself". Which is a very fucking interesting idea, but they call it DID and then don't treat it like what it actually is because it's DID. Or whatever.
Boring. Sloppy. Pick one motherfuckers, toss a coin bc you can't have both I swear to God it doesn't work 😭
See, what I think should have actually happened was the actual shit in the book about Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde. Use the offered backstory, have Harvey push down emotions, but then don't actually call it a different personality - have HARVEY call it a different personality. Have him make those emotions and impulses and shit so foreign to himself that slowly he loses control over them, just like Jekell. In reality, it is a part of himself, and he is responsible for his own actions, but he doesn't want to be. God, he doesn't want to be. And he's gonna make that everyone else's problem.
That would also solve the issue of "a personality only shows up when the body looks right" because that doesn't make any sense :/. If Harvey's emotional well-being/control/anger management disorder is the actual cause, then of course his self image would influence that. It would also fix the problem of the lack of distinction between the two, and the thing with the coin. (Either he's always used the coin and that's just Harvey, or he only uses the coin after the acid.)
What do y'all think.

from one admirer to another : top holiday in your opinion?
Tumblr media
pairing: leon kennedy x reader || masterpost: from one admirer to another
Tumblr media
synopsis: from one admirer to another, an online penpal service, allows for two people with common interests to write to each other without ever revealing their actual address! Luckily for both you and Leon, you get matched up! What do eggs and Christmas even have in common anyway? sure hope it's that modeling business and NOT that Ada Wong addiction.
Tumblr media
featuring: reader as scrambled eggs // leon as christmas
Tumblr media
Hi Christmas!
What an interesting name. I don't think many people on this service actually use something that creative. I, for one, just really enjoy having eggs so I'm called scrambled eggs. Though, sometimes the doctor tells me to go easy on them since the cholesterol in the yellows of eggs is HEINOUS for my blood tests. So, alas, I am coping through naming myself all things eggs.
I love Ada Wong. She's my beloved, and if I say I'm her second biggest fan, no one can say they're her first because I am her day ONE you hear me? DAY ONE. I AM HER DAY ONE— okay, I'm sure you're not convinced, but a person can dream. Come on. I've literally already read glhf <3 on ao3 so I'd say we're pretty neck to neck. Also, that fan event and the sticker? Thank you. Going into my phone case like right now.
As for her helicopter shoot, what Ada stan DOESN'T feel some way about it? I, for one, went manic when it came out. It was so bad I was begging for her signature on my magazine and yelled a little when she signed it. No, don't rob me. I live in an apartment with my friend and NO it's not an option to climb to the 17th floor.
History about me... I wonder? I don't do much. Well, a little bit like you, I model a little on the side as well, but only because I'm nepotism-ing my way into the industry through connections. I'm not interested in it as a full-time job, but it's kind of nice being on set and watching how it all goes down. Maybe I'll become a manager? But that's too much work. Honestly, I'd rather just be some weird form of sugar baby except not to an old man and to the people who are trying to get me into the industry. I'd love to just be their bestie who shows the bts of everything. That sounds FUN.
Hm, to speed-answer your questions, my favorite way of having eggs is actually in a nice cheesy omelet or an egg benedict, my favorite holiday (call me biased bc of my bsf) is the dragon boat festival only because those sticky rice zongzi are actually the chinese's greatest gift to man, and I write in my freetime (don't ask what. I know a degen when I see one, and YOU my friend, are no different from me).
Now, to ask you a couple of questions back. What's your favorite way to have eggs? Your fav holiday? Surely it's Christmas? All jokes, of course. How about some life updates? We can be like... besties, except not besties because we don't even know what the other person looks like and for all I know you could be some 60-year-old man who's faking everything through the letter. Just kidding! I'm not lying, so I'm sure you're not either.
I'm attaching a small Ada print I found on my table while digging for pens to write back to you. I hope you like it. I think it's signed by her? But I'm not sure. I think I had her sign two that time... or something. I don't remember.
hope to hear back ? scrambled eggs
Tumblr media
You finish the letter and sign, print slipped in as Ada steps out from the shower, towel around her neck as she raises a brow.
"Oh, is that the model penpal service?"
"Yeah." You seal the letter and write in the PO box, humming. "Did you ever use it?"
"No. I only know it because Wesker insisted that I know that the penpal service wasn't actually for finding friends, but getting to know who else in the company shares a passion for the same things. I have you, so I don't need to worry much."
"MARRY ME!" You sob, crying into your hands as Ada rolls her eyes.
"I'm your roommate. Also, that contract you signed as a small-time model prohibits dating."
"I said marry me, not date me." You raise a brow. "Also, I made them scrap that part since I wasn't planning on becoming famous. My contract has a lot more leeway compared to yours."
"I know." Ada sits at her vanity, plugging her hairdryer in as you step behind her, helping her out. "It's a shame you didn't want to become famous."
"There's no point in being famous unless it's for the money. What of that do I need to care about if you're legally obligated to provide for me?"
"Really sucks to be best friends with you." She rolls her eyes, pulling out her phone. "Did you update that chapter yet?"
"No, I was going to update it after your hair."
"What did you write about this time?"
"I'm not telling you because I gotta lock myself in my room when I post it."
"You didn't even ask me any questions this time around." She huffs.
"Mainly because I was gonna write angst again and you hate it when I do that."
"God, you're insufferable."
"Thanks, love you too."

Replaying Inquisiton really made me notice (again) how the companions are written with such an incredibly noticeable difference in care. Man I hope they did a better job in Veilguard. And it's such a stark contrast from Origins!
I'll just post my comparative ramblings bc I'm on a train and have nothing better to do
In my opinion, one of the best things about Origins is the closeness you develop with your companions. You're with them through massive, formative changes in their lives, you find out about their childhood traumas and the people they've grown up to be, and as a player you make huge decisions that shape their future. By the end I felt so close to these characters. Looking at the main companions:
Alistair? We find out all about his longing for family, for love, his desire not to be defined by his blood and be able to live a normal life. You're both saddled with the responsibility to save the world together, and you do. Depending on the choices you make, he may have the love he longs for, and he may have to be king, you shape his life in a huge way.
Leliana? She literally seeks you out because she's received visions and is on a god-given mission. You literally shape the kind of person she becomes, whether she hardens or softens her heart.
Zevran? This is the most important period in his life. His flight from the Crows, his suicidal intent and then sudden wish to stay alive after all, finding new things to live for, remembering his mother, you save his life in more ways than one.
Morrigan? Literally the first time she's left her abusive mother's side and it's travelling with you. She finds her own ways to live, you give her the jewellery her mother wouldn't allow her, you help her confront her mother and free herself from her. You might literally be the father of her child.
Sten? Also suicidal, and you help him regain his self worth and sense of meaning in life. And you change him. He comes from a society with rigid rules and you help him see other ways of life. If you play as a woman, he's literally confused in the beginning that you're a fighter, and then as you gain his affection he acknowledges and respects you as who you are. He's not romanceable and probably changes the least out if the companions, but still goes through this monumental change of perspective about there being other valid ways of life. Sten should have been romanceable lbr
Oghren? It's super unfortunate how comic relief he is BECAUSE his story is so intense. The woman he loves disappeared! He's an alcoholic! He's so tied into the MAIN QUEST! He's tragic! You're with him through this massive thing he goes through and it really sucks that he can't really... change. You can't really help him. But even so, the events of the game are monumental to his life.
The Secret Companion is self-explanatory. You completely re-shape his life.
And in comparison, the companions in Inquisition are just WILDLY hit or miss. Some of them you become incredibly close to, others are just kinda there. Oh we're saving the world together? Just another day at the office babey. You don't really get to know them that deeply, you don't get to change their views, they're just there and you work together and then they go on their way. I'm of course talking mainly about Vivienne and Sera.
It's insane to me that Vivienne is this incredibly complex character who is the way she is because she grew up traumatized in an oppressive environment and you never get to talk to her about this. It's hidden in a few comments Cole may or may not drop if you travel with both of them. Her polished demeanor and ever-present smile? Learned in the Circle to demonstrate to templars that she was good, obedient, and non-possessed. Her materialism? When she met the duke, the thought in her head was I will never go hungry again.
Vivienne is TRAGIC. She's a deeply traumatized woman who has lived all her life in a system that did not grant her basic security, and she was strong and smart enough to gather power in the only ways she was allowed to. And you can't even talk to her about this. Her personal quest is some weird red herring bullshit meant to make you question whether she's a villain, comparing her to the evil queen from Snow White, and then it's just... her boyfriend dying. You can't change anything. You can barely talk to her about this relationship - it must have been a mix of love and practicality, a connection that gave her both tenderness and influence, the only power she was allowed to have. And it IS an injustice that she could never have married him! But you can't talk to her about this. Can't influence her viewpoint at all. All this complexity is hidden in subtext, and Vivienne does not change as a person at all.
Vivienne is outwardly cold towards Cole, dismissive, pragmatic, cruel. If Cole becomes more human, he points out to her that she secretly worried about him and is glad he's safe. She denies it. This is the only complexity she's allowed to show, hidden in random banter most players will never hear.
Why are we not allowed to be close to Vivienne? Why can't we talk to her? Explore who she is? Why does it feel like it literally does not matter whether we touch her life at all?
I've seen people claim that the fandom neglects Vivienne unfairly, but this was the WRITERS. They neglected Vivienne. They made it impossible to be close to her, they hid her complexity while just having her be straight-up rude for most of the game. This was a huge failure on the part of the writers. I've heard that her main writer said on twitter (DA writers should not be allowed to tweet) that he just didn't like her and that makes me so mad. Fucking video game writers...
And Sera. Oh, Sera.
She's annoying. Her jokes are painfully unfunny. It's super hard to get her to like you. Whenever you talk to her, the first option is to kick her out of the Inquisition. Why on EARTH did they write her this way?
Her personal quest is nothing. You go meet some guy, kill him, over. What does this MEAN??? What does this mean for Sera's character?? It's so fully useless, you learn nothing new, you don't get closer to Sera, who the fuck wrote this and why was this published.
And just like with Vivienne, you barely get to talk to Sera. She runs around with a huge case of internalized elf racism and you never get to talk about it. She literally won't put on armour marked as "elves only", what's up with that girl? She openly looks down on elves to the point of being annoyed to even talk to an elf Inquisitor, why can we never talk to her about this?
She's supposed to be from Denerim. Is she from the Alienage? The close-knit community Tabris is from? Does she know Tabris? She might literally know the Hero of Ferelden and it's never a topic of conversation. She would have been like, a young teenager at the time when the Alienage was suffering a plague and elves were being kidnapped and sold into slavery. Was this not a formative experience for her? Was she not there? Did she not live in the Alienage? Well all of Denerim became a war zone during the Blight, was that not a notable event in her life????
Why do we not get to explore anything that makes her the dismissive, flighty person she is?
Playing in German, there is fascinating ambiguity in the graveyard of your companion's fears that you find in the Fade - Sera's greatest fear is "nothing". In German, the word for the Fade is "the Nothing". I thought it made so much sense that that would be her greatest fear! She's afraid of anything involving magic and spirits, and it adds a nice metaphorical level to her rejection of anything elven: elves are supposed to be inherently connected to the Fade, but she's afraid of the Fade! Comments she makes seem to imply that she has a suppressed sensitivity to spirits, but either Solas or Cole suggesting that that might be the case clearly terrifies her.
Well, imagine my disappointment when I found out that in the original English, her fear is just "nothing". Which is bullshit too, Sera is clearly afraid of of anything Fade-related. I guess it might be some idea of how she's afraid of quiet and non-existence, but like... what a missed opportunity. What a dumb thing to be her greatest fear. What a missed opportunity.
And just like Vivienne, it doesn't feel like you really impact her life at all. Sera just comes and goes, she does her own thing, and she never unpacks any of her issues. Why was she written this way? Why did they think this would be a compelling companion experience? And for fuck's sake, who thought she was funny?
This rant is already way too long and I'm almost off the train so I won't write a full comparison to the Inquisition companions who were done well, but like, it's obvious. For some of them you touch their lives intimately, you shape their worlds, you actually feel close to them by the end of the game. How the fuck did this game get shipped with Vivi and Sera like that.
It's been 10 years and I hope the developers learned from their mistakes, if they noticed them in between sucking their own dicks on twitter.

Hey, i know you mean well but there is nothing inherently wrong with people saying they want to fuck Omar and talk about what they find attractive about him. Having fantasies about this is totally normal and a part of every fandom and people should be allowed to express that on their own blogs, or as confessions in a confined space where we're all just having fun. "Thirsting" is fun and normal! And no, you're not actually harming the artist with that. Do you think Omar is posting these pictures bc he wants us all to act respectfully? (He really, really doesn't) May I also direct you to his thirst tweets interview where he's actively encouraging it and is explicitly saying he's not bothered by being "sexualised" and "objectified". Other celebs might feel different but he definitely doesn't care, it's fine, it's not crossing a line. What would be crossing a line though is shouting these things at him irl or tagging him in specific explicit fantasies on twt. Keep it here, keep it chill. You don't have to feel the same way but let people have fun without shaming them
Yeah I really really don't agree with you, and I think I'm entitled to having that opinion and stating it. I think it goes beyond the lines of what should be considered acceptable in a fandom space, especially concerning a real person. Calling him handsome or sexy, or whatever else is different than going into detail about his body and crudely talking about how you want to fuck him. I also think you cannot say that he "doesn't care" just because he indicated sexualization is fine in an interview about thirst tweets. I don't normally comment on these things but honestly to me this was just too far. I also really just don't want to see that kind of stuff about him. This was in the main Omar tag and I don't go to the Omar tag to see people's in-depth sexual fantasies, and I'm definitely not the only one. Big yikes.

am i the only one that lowkey thinks y/n is a dramaqueen? ik hes done mean things but also like look at him lol even uraume was like “yeah hes bad at his feelings and lashes out when he feels scared but its oki bc i get it”
either that or im too oblivious to red flags😭
i welcome differing opinions and i'm sure you're not the only one! i know there are some readers that sympathize more with sukuna and that's okay 🙂‍↕️
that being said (genuine advice, outside of the writing space), please stand up for yourself if someone, especially someone you consider a friend, isn't being kind! i'll always encourage self-love and putting oneself first and sometimes that means cutting people out. we're only human and sometimes people break and that's okay, but it doesn't give them an excuse to repeatedly treat others poorly. once or twice is one thing, but there's a bigger issue at hand if it happens repeatedly.
weighing in with my thoughts as the author and also some personal experience- one thing to keep in mind is that we, as the audience, know much more about sukuna, his thoughts, and what he's going through than the reader does. by virtue of the fact that i swap perspectives, we get a lot more info than she does. she's kept much more in the dark than we are as the audience, because talking to sukuna about feelings is like talking to a brick wall LMAO
a big theme of wyk and the primary arc of each of the characters centres around themes of self-growth and self-love. reader is a push-over, while sukuna is too closed off and lashes out when he's stressed. both of them lack the self-love to be able to overcome these issues and it's for that reason that sukuna can't even recognize his own feelings for reader, while she lets him walk all over her. they need to learn to love themselves before they can love one another.
the fight between them serves as a wake up call for both of them. they both need to grow and learn to love themselves. reader needs to establish boundaries and stand up for herself when others don't respect those boundaries, while sukuna needs to learn that he's more than proved himself as a guardian and person and it's okay to not be okay and need help. sukuna also needs to learn that he's more than a guardian, he's more than the delinquent he grew up as. he's human and he's allowed to be loved.
that's why their time apart is important for both of them. on one hand, absence makes the heart grow fonder and there's definitely a level of yearning (beyond what sukuna always thought was lust, or just friendship) that comes with their time apart. on the other hand, they both grew and it's often hard to reconcile after things fall apart like that. A month is a long time and also no time at all in many ways, and they've both made a lot of changes in their lives.
you're right that uraume recognizes why sukuna lashes out and so does reader, but there's also a lot of themes held within sukuna's closest friendships that say a lot about his treatment of people through stressful times.
he doesn't let atsuya in at all. he's hardly around because sukuna won't let him be. they'd get along well if sukuna wasn't so closed off to him, but atsuya has money and by the time they met, sukuna had already passed judgement over him simply for having cash. they hang around one another, but atsuya has other friend groups and is considerably closer to toji and uraume.
uraume is privy to what's actually going on with sukuna, but not by his accord. much like with the reader, uraume was just there when he needed them and he couldn't deny the fact that he needed help a favor. the main difference between uraume and reader, though, is that uraume won't let sukuna get away with dumb bullshit. they have no patience for it and shut it down immediately. so while they are aware he lashes out when he's scared, they also just don't tolerate it. they're sympathetic to his situation for sure, but they're not the support he now realizes he needs. uraume is solution-driven, while reader is the comfort sukuna needs to feel secure with himself.
and toji... well toji could have been reader in another lifetime, in a way. toji and sukuna were best friends, but the moment times got tough, sukuna just disappeared. he couldn't bear the thought of toji seeing him as weak, even though he'd seen the worst of toji, and even though they were practically inseparable while growing up. toji may not have been overly upset about it outwardly, but he is. he tried to get through to him, but in the end it didn't really matter. toji knows sukuna lashes out when he's upset as well, but toji doesn't even get a say in what he deals with. he's just strung along and kept at arms' length just like the rest of sukuna's friends, until toji's finally had enough, and that's not fair on him.
the thing about wyk!sukuna is that he doesn't know how to handle immense stress. he never got the chance to really learn, and it's come at the cost of every friendship he's ever cared about. so another thing to consider is that it's not just reader affected by this, it's everyone sukuna loves. so while his fight with reader is a slap in the face that maybe she meant more to him than he realized, it's also a wake up call that he's alone. uraume is there, atsuya is kinda there, but by this point sukuna doesn't see them daily at school and he's so down on himself that he can't even bear the thought of telling uraume what's really going on, bc he destroys everything he cares about and he knows he needs uraume's help to watch the kids every now and then.
sukuna is absolutely going through a lot, but it's no excuse to take someone's kindness for granted like he did, or push someone away, or keep someone in the dark about what's going on when he's the one asking for help. he needs to learn more healthy coping mechanisms and he is trying now, but it's equally fair for reader to be keeping him at a distance until she's healed from scars that he caused. even without the mess that their feelings for one another have caused, reader is finally putting herself first, and she has every right to. after all, if someone lashes out this way at the first sign of stress, how are you supposed to put your trust in them when you go through stress?
relationships- whether friendly, romantic, or otherwise, are founded on trust. mistakes are one thing, but if you don't learn from them, they become something else. sukuna needs to prove he's more than the sum of his mistakes, because reader is the kind of person who will work herself to the bone out of the goodness of her heart, and that's the kind of thing that will wear a person thin if they don't receive the same respect back. sukuna can't continue to take without giving back.
and if you consider that there are lingering feelings, that only adds to the situation. if your partner lashes out every time things go south, that's not healthy for anyone involved. it's important that boundaries are established and respected to build the foundation for a healthy relationship. things will always happen here and there and that's totally okay, normal, and healthy! but if it happens every single time things go south, it quickly devolves into toxicity. and that applies for friendships as well, but particularly stands true for romantic relationships.
i definitely welcome, and respect differing opinions on the reader's actions or anything really with the fic (as long as people are respectful, so thank you for being kind nonnie!), but this is where i'm coming from as the author :)) i think there's validity and valuable conversation to be found in the discussion of other opinions on the matter because everyone will have a different perspective, but this is mine and also comes in part from a lot of my own experiences!

I remember a while back (maybe a year even) someone in your asks said they were blocked by you and you responded that sometimes you block people randomly. I got a lil nervous because I don't wanna be blocked. This isnt a complaint btw, i just admire that you exist in the way you do on this account, and maybe its because you're not trying to be "polite" to everyone for no reason or you're not masking or suppressing you thoughts or something else i dont know. I like your artwork and everything you do on this blog. Youre messy, reactive, and you express hate unapolagetically and im the same way, and it makes me feel less lonely to see someone just like me. Like when you posted about a roommate pulling you out of bed, and it comforts me bc it means I could never get too depressed to be abandoned. Idk how exactly but I appreciate your blog as a whole and i didnt know i needed to find it. Thanks i guess
awww shucks look at you. how sweet.
and look. i mean. its not RANDOM who i block but it might as well be sometimes hahhhh. the standard for being blocked isnt super high over here. sometimes its cuz they reblogged something that just kind of pissed me off, sometimes its cuz i thought they were a little too annoying the notes one time, or i dont like one of a few niche takes they have, or they're a little too involved in internet drama. ive blocked a lot of people i've never interacted with because they were rude to OTHER people in a way i found uhhhh distastefulllll.
i'm willing to overlook that kind of stuff most of the time tho especially in mutuals cuz like. its not as though i expect everyone to be pleasant and agree with me all of the time or something. but i do prefer to cut things off before than can begin. (its kind of a huge problem of mine actually)
anddd anyway as flattering as this all is, its more out of conflict avoidance than anything else. don't tell anyone but i'm very easily bullied and manipulated under certain circumstances and i dont really want to be around any kind of person who would try to do that to me or like. do the whole "you know x person is cancelled they said Y thing why are you associating with them?" thing.
funny enough, this ask is kind of what my bestie said to me when i asked why she'd made the effort to be my friend back on deviantart. She said something like "it seemed like everyone was trying to put on a good face and be something there, and you were trying to be something too but it was a different kind of something than everyone else"
which i find incredibly flattering because what i was trying to be was someone who could, like, express genuine thoughts and opinions people. I'd found that DA was a place where i could say what I thought and felt and it was basically the only place I could be myself because I was (and likely still am) too timid to be myself irl. so while everyone else was trying to be their best selves, or their cool persona, I was like, falling apart openly and on purpose in a way I'm not allowed to otherwise. impulsively posting whatever I felt like, because I wanted someone to see me and maybe go YO SAME.
also hate is like one of my core emotions. I've hated almost everyone I've loved or even cared about at some point. really deep bitter seething stuff, often times completely uncalled for too haha. if i don't bitterly hate you at some point it's cuz we're just not close enough yet and I'm still in the first stage of friendship (i see almost everything you do as charming and wonderful)(there are a lot of people who never get past this stage. most of them i'd say)
i do think I try to be polite but also honest. maybe kind or genuine are better words? i don't want to make people feel stupid (even if my urge to feel superior and CALL people stupid is very strong) and I don't want people to feel like i didn't consider them but i also don't want to waste time on people who are fucking with me, or who just care so little about others that any conversation we have is pointless. oh and also my concept of what is and isn't polite/kind isn't exactly the same as the mainstream, so to speak.
WHICH IS ALL a very long rambling way TO SAY. this is very kind. i'm very self obsessed so i love to know what people think about me. thank you.

Another Starlo rant + there's some stuff to clarify
this is my reply to the latest post from @a-legacy-not-to-be-forgotten bc i feel like he mainly had me in mind when he wrote it, which I don't mind, really. After all, we're both apologists of different characters and i DO respect your opinion. Just wanted to throw my two cents in and clarify some stuff (please read till the end)
Exhibit A (having Moray walk around with a snake in their boot and giving them rashes): I always thought this was some kind of job policy, all bc Star's so ambitious and expected his (future) employees to be the same. He wanted everyone to prove they were "real" cowboys. That's also why everyone had lassons for 8 weeks and he had that kangaroo locked in a cell for sneaking a phone in (although it IS hypocritical that Star himself is allowed to own a TV).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Star expects a lot from everyone because he himself gives it his all to make this town as realistic as possible and makes everybody behave like real cowboys (and imo he thought Moray was fine with having a snake in their boot for a week since they probably didn't complain. Star most likely didn't even know the snake gave them rashes/apologized if Moray had told him this). Honestly he's too obsessed and passionate and can be too much without realizing it, that I can't deny
Exhibit B (The Boulder Droppers): No matter how severe (It IS severe), I still see this as super careless (and super forgetful of Starlo), rather than reckless. Again, another instance where he screws up but there's no ill intent. Also he apologized for this to Gilbert
Tumblr media
Exhibit C (blaming Clover for everything that happened and shooting them over it): TRUE 100%
...now, Ceroba was doing her best to understand Starlo and he needed her to get back on the right track, but I still think she views him more as a manchild than someone worthy of respect. I don't hate Ceroba or see her as a heartless bitch and a terrible friend (there's that post of mine where I explained everyone's flaws, and it turns out Starlo is the most flawed of them all, which I admitted). I just think her and Star aren't on the same wavelength.
She WAS on the same wavelength as Chujin and that's why I ship them. Ceroba deeply admired him (still does) and honesty she has the right to love whoever she wants. Still, I can't get out of my head how she thought that her wanting to date Starlo in the past must have had to do with the fact "her brain was still developing," or how she lied to him about the sheriff stuff just to spare his feelings. I get the intentions but she should have told him how she really felt (based on her many annoyed faces I got the message Roba never liked any of this + she says she doesn't understand it). I genuinely saw it as her babysitting/pitying him for his childish fantasies instead of actually enjoying participating in the antics (she does like observing the five tho)
Tumblr media
And yeah, everyone (Ed, Ace, Mooch, Moray, Ceroba) knew Starlo ADORED westerns, obviously, but what they DIDN'T know or try to figure out is the deeper meaning as to WHY. I feel like everybody thought it was simply a childish fantasy and didn't stem from any deeper insecurities (the FF, just like Starlo, aren't very good with communicating their feelings; why else would they criticise Starlo right in the middle of town where everyone could hear them instead of going someplace private to have the talk)
HOWEVER!
List of Starlo's character flaws I believe he has: insecure, overly enthusiastic, careless (not reckless bc he doesn't intent to cause chaos), cocky, too obsessed with his status & social image, arrogant, mischievous (particularly with Blackjack), childish, needs too much external validation, uses escapism too much, people pleaser, wants to be everyone's "hero," ignorant, naive, too optimistic, overbearing, too ambitious, stubborn, emotional & sensitive to criticism, too obsessed to the point he ignores everyone and everything else, actually IS selfish (I wanna take this opportunity to correct myself. Starlo should have listened to his posse and not have snapped like that & dismissed what they had to say, but they should have also let him know how they felt way earlier and tried to understand Star's pov & deeper insecurities he has & should have not publicly lectured him since they SHOULD know how much he wants to protect the reputation he worked hard to earn. Everyone should have reacted differently)
We don't know what Starlo was like before Clover but based on the way none of his posse ever talked smack about him, gave him dirty looks, or overall acted like they didn't wanna be part of the team, I assumed they either didn't mind his enthusiasm before he got obsessed with Clover, or kept their frustrations with his passion hidden well and didn't choose to communicate at all with him about how they really feel.
As for Star himself, I just don't see him as having been a bad boss. Ed even said how he would always ask him nicely to do stuff, and Dina explains how the only arguments the five of them had were about trivial matters, and how things were pretty predictable before Clover. So I don't think he had made any huge fuck ups. The five were always together in all their shenanigans (Dina says they're like siblings) and Ceroba mentions how she hasn't seen Star "this ecstatic in some time". Which is why I think he didn't step outta line or mistreat others before his dream of meeting a human came true.
HOWEVER #2!
I just remembered a single line of dialogue from Ed, which suggests that Star might have been more bossy than I thought and didn't actually ever ask his posse about their opinions. If this is the case, and probably is because Ceroba says he had changed a lot, scratch that stuff I said before about him not being a bad boss
Tumblr media
He acts selfish because he's insecure, but I still shouldn't have used that as an excuse. It's interesting how he's got both selfishness and selflessness inside him at the same time, but yeah, bc of his undeniable charm I overlooked the selfishness part. guilty as charged
time to add that and his bossiness as another one of star's many flaws
Another thing: while all of Ceroba's flaws seem to come from the tragedy that had struck her (besides being stubborn), every single one of Starlo's flaws stem from him and how he feels about himself. He had a normal family, a best friend, and his own friend group, with whom he could discuss his nerdy interests. I think THIS is what makes him so loveable. He techincally doesn't have a real REASON to feel unhappy, but he did, before he became 'North Star' But that persona was exactly WHAT he needed to let go of to be himself and be truly happy
I once jokingly mentioned how Starlo's name could mean "Star + loser" and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense for his arc. He wants to be 'North Star' (all cool and badass and important), but in reality, the real him is just a nice guy who loves his friends. And even if that doesn't make him popular and a loser farmer instead, at least that is the real him who he shouldn't have been running away from
I do love when my fave character ain't perfect and has inner conflicts to work on
To conclude this rant, I want to apologize to the Four and Ceroba for not taking into consideration their pov more and being way too obsessed with this charming nerd
Tumblr media
also, @a-legacy-not-to-be-forgotten, your rant gave me much to rethink and for that I thank you

i agree with "I think the people who are the most down on this show are the ones who fell they’ve been robbed of something they were never promised." but it's me i'm down on the show and it's bc i wanted a full season of dragonstone polycule :(. i'm kidding i really like the show!!!! i just always imagine what could have been with a fleshed out harwin + laena and more build up jfkldsajfds
Tumblr media
you're valid for that one but i wouldn't call that a "robbed of something they were never promised" that's just objectively a bad part of the show lmao - no reason we should have completely glossed over Rhaenyra's relationship with Harwin and cut her relationship with Laena. For one thing, it's left a lot of people confused as to why Rhaenyra had three children with Harwin. For another, it's left a real vacuum when it comes to the characters and motivations of Jacaerys and Larys - I think s2 has done a lot to fill that vacuum but there's still this Harwin shaped hole that I think the audience doesn't really know how to care about because they never filled it with anything of substance. That goes under "too fucking short" and I think every Rhaewin should be allowed to take a baseball bat to the car of an hbo executive of their choosing for that one.
The Laena thing is also a "just because you have weird opinions about women doesn't mean the rest of us do you guys" thing, which I've also whinged about before. IMO it's bad enough to cut Laena out when she's so involved in the motivations and themes of Rhaenys being passed over and the eventual Driftmark succession as well as the clearly on purpose (argue with the wall) subtextual references to Rhaenyra's sexuality. I made the comparison to Brienne's "no one sings songs" of women who die in childbirth - and cutting a woman who doesn't get to do anything despite being primed to be a big power player because she dies birthing a son that also dies feels like missing the point to an extreme level already. But then racebending her AND cutting her part down to, essentially, how men and yt people feel about her, and cutting out her every relationship just for...what? So Daemyra can be super special soul mates, as if no one in the history of the world has ever been married twice and loved both their spouses? So Rhaenicent can be super special star crossed lovers, as if there's no way Rhaenyra wouldn't have moved on from a woman who has clearly rejected her? We're really saying they couldn't have gotten some mileage from Alicent being desperately jealous of the easy way Laena accepts affection from Rhaenyra? We're gonna racebend her, cut her part down, and then say "well she's not important anyway" yeah she's not important because they cut her part down!
adsjflks anyways i DO think there are good reasons to be down on the show. i also think some people throw hissy fits because they wanted this show to be something very different from what it is, and in fact, they wanted the dance itself to be about something very different from what it is. this has always been a story about misogyny, the blurring of political and personal violence, and the dangers of allowing anger to escalate your every move, however justified you feel. it's always been about the downfall of two families (targaryens & hightowers) who overreached for godhood and fell hard, and one family (velaryons) that didn't win the game of thrones but they sure fucking lived which is more than you can say for everyone else. people love to pretend like both f&b and hotd aren't about misogyny, violence, and justifications but like - that's the text babeee. justice for laena tho!

I think something I want to talk about in regards to the argument I had with another system yesterday. And it's that I don't think anyone deserves to be violated, and that everyone should have a choice of whether or not they want to do something. And throughout my childhood and my adult life, that choice was repeatedly taken away from me.
So hear me when I say it, any alter in my system has the choice to do whatever they want and to consent to whatever they want, as long as it does not harm the system overall, and if things need to be processed later, we can do it in therapy together.
It is triggering to me to take away those choices from any alter, and little alters in our system have been the victims of our autonomy being taken away the most. They have been forced into some idea of purity, and this angelic view of our littles is directly related to how we have been manipulated, violated and abused. So imagery of angels, sweetness, a childlike room of lace, frilly things, etc. Things that would relate to most other littles, it is triggering for all of us to be in a space like that. We have been abused in a space like that, we are afraid of putting ourselves back there and enforcing restrictions and rules onto ourselves. We don't want to go back.
None of us will ever be normal, none of our littles will be normal littles, and they will always be allowed to have adult choices. And if that means associating ourselves with something more adult or darker, that's what's more healthy for us.
I know not much systems can understand, they are so protective of their littles. Well, so are we. We are always protective of their rights and survivability. And we can only experience a childlike protective space in a traumatizing scenario, as a coping mechanism or inside our own innerworld, so where no one can get us anymore.
We are a system with a variety of agesliders, to where we can switch into our younger selves very easily, so we are very much aligned with their perspective and feelings. So we can look back very easily and know the horrors, and what's connected to the most vulnerable versions of ourselves.
I will protect their ability to say yes or no with my entire being. If they don't like you putting your autonomy or opinions onto them, we will push you off. We don't need your protection, we don't need your safety, we don't need your lies.
If that triggers you, you are free to leave, but we're not putting you in a non-consensual space, and we aren't forcing you to experience or deal with things the same way we do. We understand that is something that is going to be different for everyone.
TLDR:
We are not putting our littles in unsafe spaces, we are giving them the choice of freedom. Every alter has equal autonomy and choice.
We protect everyone's autonomy and choice, not just our little alters. Therefore we would never force another system to do anything with us, bc that goes against our values.
We ageslide very often, so we all understand how vulnerable our little alters are, and we are protective of their vulnerabilities. We refuse to let others manipulate that vulnerability.
We are not asking anyone else to change their rules for us, just asking others to respect our individual freedoms.
Note: We experience moral scrupulosity as a part of OCD, please stop accusing us of being predators just because we do things that seem unsafe to you. It is not our job to make you feel safe, it is your job to heal and set your own boundaries. These are our boundaries.
