I love that most of my self inserts are smartasses and i mean it in the most pos and silly way i can. anyways unrelated thing thats bout the a hat in time self insert Like to think filmy had to do something when hat kid had to fight dj grooves + the conductor (im like to imagine they tagged teamed. shhhhhhhh) and when he got back to find out hat kid beat their asses would be something like "WHAT THE H-" and hat kid waddles over to filmy and tells him everything and he just gives that glare. that glare that shows he is fucking pissed. and good lord they had a scolding. and he totally didnt fuck up the movies on purpose that day for rhe awards for payback for almost killing/hurting a CHILD.

Can anyone who was around when all of this was going down in real time last summer shed some light on how the fandom acted then?

I was around & watching this unfold in real time. I can only speak for myself.

I was indulgent with Luke, last summer. He had his boys trip & then TSOT & then the wedding in Mallorca & then Mykonos. In between, he was having a HBS, but still hanging with the friends he had always been with, their partners, & just coming out of a long term relationship & about to become way more famous & so I cut him slack. We all knew he was on Raya, but, personally, I wanted him to have fun! It seemed like a phase! (I still believe that adults can hang out & it’s not of our business, really.)

Note: I *never* shipped L&N. That might be why this didn’t bother me. Very good friends & that’s it. (Personally, having watched this in real time, I would *never* want N mixed up with L.)

Luke’s friends posted teases of what L was up to & where he was, exactly like they do now, & it was like a puzzle to figure out! So much fun during the doldrums between seasons, after filming leaks had dried up.

It was clear, by September, that he was in some kind of relationship. Very clear that it was A by early November.

I didn’t necessarily like A, & once it was clear it’s I wasn’t a FWB situation, we were into promo. (I think it was the Ami show in Paris in January that I understood how serious he was about her, because of details in her stories.)

So, we knew, going into promo that he was in a relationship that seemed serious.

I feel badly for the fans that jumped aboard the Lukola ship without knowing all that.

Between the time he'd dropped her off at sickbay and dinnerbell, she's shaved the mashed and filthy hair off in a dark buzz. Her eyes look larger in her face, her cheekbones too sharp, but with the scrapes and bruises healed up and in a crisp uniform Shepard's looking more like the promo material up in every recruiting station than the ragged merc they'd picked up. Even her boots have the glassy shine he'd thought was cgi'd.

The other Marines in the mess are sitting a little more squarely, her precise posture something to try and live up to- which might be why Anderson is wearing that particular faint smile; Kaidan's not got all of the captain's expressions cataloged and he's seen more than a few new ones since bringing their XO aboard.

Welcome to Emory Attempts to Create a Series of Events Based Solely on the Trailers and Promo Pictures!!!

This is gonna be a long one. Buckle up bitches! (Excuse the shitty collages, I couldn't figure out a better way to include all the pictures)

So, I don't have a perfect timeline. We just don't have enough info for me to create an exact series of events. I think, however, I can piece together scenes and events that take place around the same time based on the costumes we see the characters wearing, especially Stede.

The really helpful thing about the promo pictures on the Warner Bros. website is that they labelled which episode each picture is from. So, we can tell from them that Stede is wearing a grimy white shirt with a red necktie in the first episode, which means the scene in the rowboat, the scene where Stede is sleeping next to Roach, and the scenes in the marketplace with Susan and Oluwande all happen in the first episode.

We also see the picture of Ed's back tattoo as well as the picture of Izzy with his grimy makeup being listed for episode one, so I think the scenes in the captain's quarters we saw in the teaser will happen in episode one as well. We also see the Stede wedding topper, so I think we'll get our wedding boat raid in the first episode.

In the second episode promo pictures, we see Stede in the Chinese inspired outfit which I think means Oluwande enlisted Susan's help to get them a ship in the picture of him and her together. I believe this also means that the pictures and scenes of the crew in these outfits means that these events happen around the same time, between episodes two and three or four. Which means that - because we see Stede wearing this outfit in the scene where Ed headbutts him - we will be getting our reunion within the first few episodes.

The events from Stede and the crew's POV (I think) is this: The crew enlist Susan's help and get dressed up in the Chinese outfits. This is also when they find Lucius. Stede has a heart to heart with someone on the ship and they eventually catch up with the Revenge. They plan on sneaking aboard in the middle of the night and the plan goes relatively successfully, leading to Stede and Ed reuniting. In the light of day, Stede sees the remnants of an attack on the Revenge (not sure what from).

From Ed's POV in episode two we see that the night following the wedding raid, Ed has his sad time playing dolls. I think this is when we get those shots of Fang and Jim in the auxiliary wardrobe, finding him all sad and very much not over Stede. I think this might be when Ed decides to get his act together. The next day, he corners Frenchie and starts cleaning up the captain's cabin. He's still wearing his full leather get up, but unlike what we see during the wedding raid, his hair is pulled back and his makeup is less severe. Then, something happens and Ed gets hurt. We see him with a split lip and a cut on his cheek. I'm not certain what happens to him, whether it was just a raid gone wrong or maybe the storm, but whatever it may be, the Revenge gets wrecked and Ed gets hurt. Then we get our reunion.

Next, I think, are the scenes where Stede is wearing the white shirt without the red necktie. We see him in this getup after he and Ed have reunited. Notice how Ed is no longer bleeding in the scene where he's talking to Mary and Anne, meaning his wounds are no longer fresh, so this scene takes place after the headbutt scene. I think we'll get the scene where Stede asks Ed to 'show him some respect, please' and then somehow Ed runs off to meet with Mary and Anne and Stede follows him, which is why he's so awkward when Stede shows up. Then we get Ed coughing on the joint and him and Stede having dinner with the pirate queens, during which Stede gets kissed for some reason.

I think after this, Ed and Stede get separated again. If my theory about the red necktie being just an episode one look is correct, it means Stede sends the message in a bottle after they've already been reunited. So something must happen to Ed, which is why Izzy starts training Stede. We see a mostly-empty Revenge when Stede is swinging on the rope, and during this time, I think Stede will try to figure out which pirate captain look is right for him, hence the red outfit in that one scene and the sparkly coat before we finally get to our last look, the blue shirt.

This is where the series of events is the least clear, but I believe all these scenes will occur during the second half of the season. Stede and the crew get tortured for some reason (you can see that this takes place on the Revenge), Stede gets his ear pierced, talks to someone about being a failure, and then we get our scenes on the island. We can tell these island scenes happen all around the same time because it's clearly the same island with the same foliage, and Stede is wearing this late-season blue shirt on the island. So, there will be a battle on a beach, Frenchie and Lucius sneaking around disguised as Naval soldiers (note the blue coats), and maybe even a mid-battle reunion.

I'm not certain where the scenes with Ed and the mysterious figure factor into all this. I have a theory that maybe the Navy capture Ed and banish him to the island, but I don't think that's the case at all. I really like this one theory I read where those scenes could be a dream sequence about Ed facing his inner demons. If anyone finds that post, please let me know who made it so I can give them credit.

That's the best I can do at this point without more info. I'd love to hear all of your guys' thoughts if you have any!

Totally agree re: your last mclaren post. They could have had a legitimate cross-media star with Daniel and instead they’ve got an unlikeable little pr-nightmare twink with no brain-to-mouth filter and Oscar (lol love ya Oscar but he dgaf to do all their promo).

Even if the car was still terrible, if they’d worked enough with Danny to get it to a point where it was easier for him to drive (mind you he still dragged that shitbox to their first win in a decade), they could have also leaned more heavily into his personality/marketability to make up the gap. Even Renault, for all their faults, knew what they had with Daniel and were ready to dismantle the whole team and rebuild it around Danny - they just didn’t have the time/money to do it.

In short, mclaren once again display their absolute loser-mentality

i mean id love to jump on the mclaren slander train any day of the week but first of all you have to give it to them for promoting themselves with daniel's popularity but at the same time keeping a distance from his persona/brand so when they threw daniel under the bus they were able to detach and cut ties just like that. pretty much came out unscathed. i think mclaren was way more comfortable with lando being their poster child for this reason

from what i know about the mclaren cars, they were just not a fit for daniel's driving style at all. and while it's true good drivers should be able to adapt, the mclarens were one of the most temperamental. to make their car balanced enough for both daniel and lando, mclaren would've needed to make a lot of progress with car development, something they never had the $$$ for. with their automobile sales targeting a market exremely susceptible to economic setbacks, mclaren's finance took a BIG hit due to covid, right before daniel came aboard. in fact the reason they suddenly became so much faster mid way thru 2023 is bc right now they're financially solvent for the first time in years.

looking back i think it was just a very stupid decision for mclaren to sign a very expensive daniel when they didn't even have enough money for daily operations, let alone making cars that could meet daniel's needs. and then it was just plain hateful that since they didn't want to admit to their incompetence, they tried to gaslight daniel into thinking it was all his fault (he ended up really thinking that despite obliterating his driving style to work with mclaren).

obviously i think daniel's team was also to blame for entering the partnership but a) back in 2020 he didn't know whether renault f1 would still exist so he kinda had to jump ship and b) knowing zak brown and mclaren's corporate ways i think some empty promises were definitely made.

Self Promo Sunday: “Father Figure”

This week’s little one shot is chosen in honor of Father’s Day, and the sweet surrogate father-son relationship that developed between Killian and Henry as the show went on. It was originally written in late season six, around the time of the CS wedding, and so is meant to be fairly canon compliant, more of a missing moment sort of fic. There are some elements that diverge, but most it’s just something I envisioned having happened that we didn’t get to see. I hope you will enjoy - now with cover art!

The morning of the wedding had begun in a troubling wet, dreary grey of rain drizzle, but by mid-afternoon the clouds had slowly parted and sunlight was peeking through their wispy, tattered remnants with gaining strength.  Killian Jones had stood for some time, uncaring if he got a bit wet, staring over the water from the side of the Jolly, hoping deep in his heart of hearts that they would not have to change the venue for their nuptials.  He would of course rather that than see the occasion dampened or have to postpone it even a day longer, but he had truly hoped to pledge his troth to his True Love while standing on the sturdy boards of his previous truest love; the old girl who had been his home and companion for centuries.   

 Once the day began to dry, Killian had gone below to his cabin and started getting dressed.  The dark suit with its soft, well-made material felt transformative against his skin, whispering as it brushed across his flesh that today was infinitely special.  Today began the rest of his life – the happiest and best part.  And in a town where magic was all around at most given moments, that this day would still have a magic all its own was truly saying something.  Emma Swan – the Princess of Misthaven, the Savior – loved him, and today she would promise to spend the rest of her life with him, as he would her.  As he shrugged into the waistcoat over the button up dress shirt, and deftly did its fastenings one-handed as well, Killian caught a glimpse of himself looking conspicuously misty-eyed in the reflection of the looking glass in the corner.  It was true that is some ways, ever since Neverland – no, perhaps even since Lake Nostos and the beanstalk – he had been pledging himself to Emma every day; still, the culmination of his deepest wish seemed more than he could possibly deserve.      

  He was interrupted then from his preparations and reverie by a quiet knock on the cabin door.  Just as well, Killian thought wryly, eying the bow tie laid out with the suit jacket on his bunk.  There had been little chance he would be able to secure said article – he’d never even worn one before – without someone’s help, and now such aid was presenting itself.

His heart warmed, smile deepening when the voice that called his name proved to be Henry, asking if he could come in.  “Aye,” Killian answered Swan’s boy affectionately, waving him forward when the teen’s face appeared around the edge of the sturdy wood.  “Come in.  I’m always glad to have you aboard, Lad, you know that.”

Henry nodded, but cleared his throat nervously and looked more than a bit uneasy as he shuffled his feet forward into the room.

Killian was momentarily concerned at the young man’s bearing – surely if something were wrong, if something had happened to Emma, he would know; he would feel it.  There had been nothing from their fae nemesis this day, and he had hoped to have this one occasion without fight or interruption, but he wouldn’t put it past the malicious Stiltskin matriarch to make her presence known even now.  He was halfway across his cabin to the bracket under the window where he had carefully stowed his sword, ready to take it up again in service of his Swan, when Henry finally spoke.

As he did, and as Killian turned to listen to the young man about to officially become his stepson, Killian noticed for the first time that the Author also carried a book in his hand.  It was not his usual storybook, the huge brown leather bound one bearing all their past tales in the Enchanted Forest, but a smaller black one the pirate had never seen before.

“Killian,” Henry started again, voice still soft and somewhat hesitant as he moved closer, finally coming to stand face-to-face with the man who had become supporter, confidante and sometime partner-in-crime to him – in some ways, the most constant father figure he’d known.  He held his hand out, with the handsome new book in it, offering it to Killian.  “In this realm, they sometimes give the guy getting married something.  It’s called a groom’s gift.  So… anyway… I just wanted to give you this,” he offered, meeting Killian’s eyes fleetingly and then dropping his gaze again with a sheepish flush to his cheeks.  “It’s not much really… but I… I wanted you to have it.  It’s our story.”

The pirate’s eyes shot up to Henry’s, awed emotion flowing through him and having to see into the face of this extraordinary young man he loved as his very own to make sure he was really hearing what he thought.  “Truly?” he finally choked out, arching an eyebrow despite himself, his voice low and rougher than normal, but struck deeply by the gesture that Henry was making.

Henry chuckled a bit then, as if Killian’s sincere gratitude and affection made him more at ease with the gift he had given.  “Aye,” the youth mocked Hook now in his answer, and they both seemed unable to stop the silly grins spreading across their faces.

“Well then, thank you, m’boy,” Killian spoke solemnly, clasping Henry’s shoulder warmly and merely drinking in the moment, stunned that his long, tangled lifeline had brought him here with this young man, a chance at a family he would have never imagined coming to him again.

Killian took the gift, holding it in his hand and running his thumb over the smooth cover reverently.  Curious, he almost flipped it open to see what Henry had put down, but as if reading his mind, the lad stepped forward, shaking his head.  Cheeks flushed again, Henry’s grasp on Killian’s forearm stilled his motion to open and begin reading.  “No!  Don’t read it now while I’m standing here!” the teen exclaimed in humored exasperation.

Smirking only slightly, Killian conceded, “As you wish,” with an affectionate nod of deference to Henry’s wishes.  Sitting the book on his bunk for the moment, he turned back to the lad seriously before pressing on.  “I shall wait until later to peruse your fine gift.  But… if I may – perchance you might do one more thing for me?”  Reddening a bit himself, Killian gestured to the undone bow tie where he had discarded it atop the desk by his mirror, his awkward all-done-up collar, and gave his stepson a lopsided smile. “If you could be so kind?”

Shaking his head, Henry nodded and stepped forward, releasing a good natured snort of laughter at Killian’s expense, but lightly reaching out and putting the ensemble together as best he knew how, much like his Grandpa David had shown him to do his own.

When he had finished, the teen gave his soon-to-be stepdad a once over, smiling once more at the man he had come to look up to, who loved his mom and made her smile, who had taught him sailor’s knots and navigation by the stars, and how to manage his algebra homework.  This man had always had his back.  Even when Henry himself had been too stubborn to see, Killian had wanted the best for him, as any father would.  Though he would always miss his birth father and wish they had gotten more time together, Henry was struck suddenly by how his father figure had been there all along; he had never been truly without.  Dropping his hands from the slightly crooked but still fastened bow tie, Henry lunged forward to hug Captain Hook – their pirate – tightly in a swell of gratitude and love.

Killian was stunned still for several beats of time, blinking rapidly at the tears which welled up at Henry’s tight embrace and obvious acceptance, but he quickly recovered and hugged Swan’s boy back just as firmly, clasping him close for several long moments.  When they parted, there were conspicuous snuffles and bashful half smiles on both their parts, but also a new understanding of just how gladly and irrevocably they were family now.

A text buzzed through for Henry then, and he pulled out his talking phone as Killian watched.  “Grandma needs me for some decoration issue,” Henry said.  “So, are we all set, Captain?”

“Aye,” Killian affirmed with a wide grin and quick nod.  “I’ll see you again shortly…at the altar.”

After Henry had dashed off, Killian moved to his bunk once more, fully ready for the ceremony that was only a little over an hour away.  Before he headed above deck though, he was anxious to look at the gift his stepson had brought him.

Taking a seat on the edge of his bed, Killian picked up the book, opened to the first page, and began to read:

            “Once there was a little boy with an old soul and a heavy heart.  Though he believed in heroes and good and fairy tales, he didn’t know if anyone really loved him or where he truly belonged.

            There was also, once upon a time, a man who had lived for centuries, but had lost his boyhood much too soon. He was alone in the world with nothing and no one to live for.

            In truth, the two should never have met.  But meet they did, and the story of how it came to be, brought love and joy back into both of their lives…”

Killian kept reading, through a sheen of happy tears, all the way to the end; the warmth in his heart spreading throughout his whole body until he felt it might escape in beams of light from his fingers and toes.  He could hardly wait to thank Henry for this precious gift, and though words would not fully express it, attempt to tell the lad how much it meant to him. 

Neither of them had lived through very happy starts, but they were now embarking on their happy ending at last…

All aboard the speculation train! Choo choo!

Since all we have to go off (so far) for the upcoming episode is the promo pic on Apple TV+, here are my immediate thoughts:

Rebecca is wearing the Shaun Leane Rose Thorn hoop earrings that she previously wore in 3x01, 3x03, 3x06 & 3x07, all of which are episodes tied to her personal journey - healing, growth, fighting back and facing the unknown.

Lest we forget 3x03 was the start of Rebecca's obsession with Tish's predictions after the green matchbook appeared. We've yet to see thunder & lightning - could this be the episode?

She's also wearing a biscuit box pink blouse which looks like the pink version of the Jaeger knotted neck blouse from 3x07. She's wearing a lot of pink this season. In this week's episode, she had soft pink nails. Knowing that Rebecca's outfits are all chosen with intention, I'd love to know the reason behind all this biscuit box pink! There's something they're not telling us...yet.

3x10 is written by Jane Becker, who also wrote 2x10 "No Weddings and a Funeral". This was an important episode for Ted & Rebecca & their now breakdown-inducing parallels. This was the episode that spun the string that binds them.

We also had Sassy destroying Rupert, which was incredibly satisfying! Holding out hope for a First Wives Club/9 to 5 moment of revenge in this episode!

The team came together for Rebecca in 2x10. In 3x10, the team have split up. We're potentially getting more time with the staff, which means more time with Ted & Rebecca. Edwin Akufo is back, and the last time he was around (in 2x11), we had the second truth bomb. Are we getting the third in the next episode?

Then there's Roy & Keeley's photo shoot and the aftermath of Jamie confessing his feelings for Keeley at the funeral. Now that Roy has had that wake-up call from Rebecca, are Roy & Keeley going to finally have a breakthrough?

Genuinely bamboozled as to why and how allllllll the other OC ships are able to get a happy ending together or leave the show with a good ending for the other half of the ship except upstead. After the main OC account changed their account to stellaride and the promo which seems to include a new clip of them together im just so frustrated that Jesse and Tracy get left with the worst storyline for their show. And it’s all stemming from the show runner who gave some of the best scenes to them yet single-handedly ripped them away. I get it’s a drama but come on there were a million other ways Jesse could have left and the drama could have continued, it is a show revolving a team not just two people but proving my point Jesse and Tracy/ Hailey and Jay being in the viewers but no let’s rip them apart in the most mind boggling out of character way possible for funsies

Totally and completely not fair to Jesse and Tracy and the hard work and effort they put into making their relationship come to life as well as the fans who tune into the show to watch their story unfold.

Sorry for the rant but at this point it is just completely unfair how the so called yacht of PD is being dismantled for no good reason at all. Holding onto Jesse’s trust the process and Tracy’s doll pic wording and her hashtag for dear life because I refuse to believe this is how their story ends

Your frustration is felt, I think many Upstead fans feel the same way. I really wish things had gone down differently and handled very differently. I always say I'd love to have an interview with Gwen, one where real questions could be asked and answered. I'd love to pick apart her and some of the writer's minds on how they made the creative decisions they made and why. I'd also love to hear what J and T have to say about it, but they are too professional and respect the cast and crew too much to probably say anything that would paint it in a negative light (which is completely understandable.)

And this is good timing because we got another photo of mini Halstead and maaaaaan, I am *trusting the process* because Tracy is REALLY getting into it.

Do you have any theories for 2x08? I remember someone saying that it might focus on Christine and M'benga, hope that's true!

so! based on the promo pics that were released, we're definetly getting some christine and m'benga material.

we learned on episode 1 of season 2 that they served on the klingon war together and were one of the few survivors of a massacre. here is the description of episode eight:

"Captain Pike and his crew welcome a Klingon defector aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, but his presence triggers the revelation of some shocking secrets."

we are getting some flashback content. christine is looking very hot in her black widow suit, i can't wait to get my hands on the footage.

ANYWAYS BACK TO THE SHOW!!! here is what we've heard so far about the episode:

BUSH: Oh, I'm gonna say eight and nine, and I can't say why because that would be a spoiler. BABS OLUSANMOKUN: Yeah, I would say eight, but I can't tell you why either – Oh, it was eight, now nine!

“As a performer, myself, the scenes that are the most challenging emotionally are the ones that are most enjoyable [...] and where there's the most to be found artistically,” said Jess Bush of the season ahead. “And there's a lot of that in episode eight. I loved doing episode eight with Babs. It was one of my favorite from the entire two seasons. And working with Jeff Byrd (Yellowjackets, The Flash TV series). He's incredible. He's an actor's director. I think he made us both feel really safe to find the truth of that episode. It stretched me and stretched Nurse Chapel a lot.”

You can’t drop a Star Trek truth bomb like that without fans wanting to know more. So, probing deeper, the stars revealed a bit more about episode eight with the round table. Olusanmokun shared: “I can’t reveal much of it, you know, but somewhere in there, there was a moment where I was like, ‘Okay, this is going much deeper.' It felt epic. I hope that was captured. I hope what you see on screen is, but it felt epic as we made episode eight — for me, personally.”

Olusanmokun assures us that it is in the cards. "We're going to see some of their past history, how they came to be, how they came together as compadres. It's written beautifully, and of course, we then tried to mold it as much as possible with our performances. "It's been something. It was really lovely to do. It was really lovely to experience. We maybe go over a scene together while waiting. "I know what I do [to prepare], but I also see that Jess comes quite prepared, and so when we land in front of each other, or the camera's rolling, there's a lot to work with. That's all you can ever ask of your scene partner. There's a lot of giving and taking and being open. Regarding their scene sharing, Bush acknowledges how close Chapel and M'Benga are. "Speaking for myself, I think it's just about staying open and curious when we're together on set and in discovery mode. "There is definitely a lot of deepening of the relationship with Chapel and M'Benga in this season, and we get to go through a lot together. It's something that I've really enjoyed. I think it's been a beautiful deepening of both of their stories separately and entwined. Very heartful, very heartful."
