addison had been meaning to talk to charlotte for the past few months, but everything had moved so fast and many things had happened. time flew by without notice and it just slipped her mind, until the baby was actually here and she knew it was time. after spending a few days at the hospital, addison was back at home and she had invited charlotte over to meet the baby. mark had ran to the store to grab a few groceries, which the brunette was thankful for. “so, i know you and cooper are going through a lot right now. which is why i’ve been thinking a lot about this and if now isn’t the right time i understand completely. you’ve been there a lot for me these past few years and i don’t know what i’d do without your support, so i’d love it if you’d be the godmother.”

addison hadn’t been feeling that great for the past two days, but she had figured it was just some braxton hicks contractions and had been going about her days as usual, but making sure to keep track of her contractions and keep timing them. the brunette didn’t have a busy day, she had been taking it easy the past week spending most of her time at the practice going over paperwork and seeing patients in between. after a late dinner, addison had met mark upstairs in their bedroom and turned on the shower in the bathroom before popping her head out the door. “i’m going to go take a shower, don’t eat all my popcorn before the movie starts.” addison took a deep breath as she climbed into the shower, letting all the stress leave her body from the day. just as she was about to get out of the shower, the brunette felt a gush of water stream down her leg. addison had been a doctor long enough to know, that her water had broken and she was in labor, which those contractions weren’t in fact braxton hicks. taking a long deep breath, addison finished rinsing off and got out of the shower, before throwing on her sweatpants and mark’s t-shirt that she had brought with her. “mark- can you come here please?” addie yelled loud enough for him to hear through the door, trying to stay calm enough so he wouldn’t freak out. “we’re going to have to postpone that movie and go to the hospital. my water just broke.”

“how’s everything going? i miss surgery, but i do have to admit being home with henry has been very nice.” addison smiled looking at the attending. she did miss being at the hospital and practice, but being on maternity leave was something else and the brunette was enjoying every minute of it. henry was having a check up at the hospital, so she decided to stop up on the fetal floor to see how everything was going.

“how’s everything going cooper?” addison had just gotten back into the swing of things after giving birth to henry and it was her first week back at the practice. she was slowly starting to see patients again, but today she was just working on the business side of things at the practice. she decided to stop in and check on her friend, who she hadn’t talked to in a few weeks. “how’s mason doing? i saw him a few weeks ago and he’s getting huge. i don’t know what i’ll do when henry gets that big.”

addison knew how busy charlotte had to be dealing with the plane crash and everything that went along with it, she couldn’t imagine all the red tape she and the chief had to deal with. speaking of the chief, she hadn’t seen him around the hospital in a few days and addison had started to worry that he had been hold up in office. the brunette knew how hard it was to be in charge of so many people at such a young age. after she was done with her surgeries for the day and had changed back into her everyday clothes, she decided to stop by lachlan’s office to see if he needed anything. knocking on his door, which was already slightly ajared the brunette pushed it opened. “got room for two more, in there? well, technically one and half right now.”

"you know i never thought i’d be here again.” addison said looking around at the walls surrounding her in the exam room. over the past few months, the IVF treatments had been taking a toll on her body and she was about to throw the towel in when she had found out when she was pregnant. there was only a slim chance they were going to work anyways and the brunette was tired of getting her hopes up, until she saw the positive test. “i mean-i hoped i would and i’m so glad it happened. especially with you.” the brunette said taking a deep breath leaning her head back on the table. she knew at this point she was just rambling on, hoping time would pass until the doctor came in.

after finding out she was pregnant, addison knew that she shouldn’t get her hopes up until she got everything check out and made sure it wasn’t a false positive. waking up early the next morning, addison texted naomi asking her to meet early at the practice so she could do an ultrasound and run some bloodwork. addison already knew who the father was. she and sam broke up almost a six months ago now, since then she had only been with mark. after all of her test results came back and addison knew that everything was in fact positive, she texted mark asking if they could meet later at his apartment. knowing that she didn’t want to tell him at the hospital or over the phone. after everything they’d been through together, the brunette didn’t know how she felt about having a baby. she loved mark and wanted to be a mother more than anything but never thought it would happen this way. taking a deep breath, as she sat on the end of mark’s bed. “mark, we need to talk about something.” addison grabbed a the sonogram out of her bag and placed it, in front of the other surgeon. “i’m pregnant.”

addison had been looking for mark since she had gotten to the hospital and hadn’t had much luck in finding the plastic surgeon so far. that was until she saw one of the residents, who she knew had been glued to his side recently and knew mark had to be somewhere close. “dr.goldmann, have you seen dr.sloan lately? i’ve been looking for him and can’t seem pin him down anywhere.” addison asked stuffing her hands into her white lab coat, as she walked up to the younger resident.

after the eventful weekend she had addison had questions for a few people, most of all mark but charlotte had been thrown into the mix as well when addison remembered she had brought up lexie’s name last time they talked. the redhead had just pushed it aside, when she thought she was talking about her and mark in the past but now that addison had come into some new information she felt like charlotte might have known something more. after completing a surgery in the morning, addison bumped into cooper and figured that meant charlotte was in her office. knocking at the door, addison entered and sighed before looking at her friend. “you knew didn’t you? about lexie-” addison closed the door behind her and took a deep breath. “you knew, she was still in love with mark?”

addison had a rough day at work, between running around the hospital and then getting back to the practice on time for her patients, she was exhausted by the time she got home. she could see the lights peering from the street as she pulled into the driveway, which meant that mark must’ve gotten home before her. addison knew she had been doing too much lately and it seemed to all be catching up with her the past few days. everything going on with amelia, her own pregnancy and the guilt she was feeling for having a healthy pregnancy. addison took a few deep breaths before walking into the house, hoping that sofia was with callie and arizona or was asleep already so she didn’t have to see her crying. “mark?” she called out a crack in her voice, placing her keys on the kitchen counter before heading upstairs to their bedroom. “i’m sorry, i’m home late. it was just a long day and i should’ve called you-” addison said tears streaming down her face.

“don’t look at me like that.” addison said sitting on a bench a few feet away from the lake, with a blanket draped over her legs. she was in her second trimester now and was starting to show more. even though most of the people closest to her and mark knew about the pregnancy there were still a few people at the hospital who didn’t know. “let me know when you’re pregnant and they send you out on a work outing to a lake. what kind of person came up with this and thought it was a good idea?”

addison wanted to catch up with andrea after everything that had gone on within the last couple of weeks. she had figured grabbing a cup of coffee in between surgeries, was the best time for both of them. so, she invited the other brunette out to one of her favorite little coffee shops in hopes that they’d be able to talk without anybody from the hospital around them. the brunette took a sip of her coffee, as she took a seat across from the younger brunette and smiled. “you know, i asked you here as a friend and coworker but also as a doctor. we never really did talk about what options you had before you left my office.”
