The surgeon’s lounge was nearly always were Marion could be found during her shift if she wasn’t in the OR. Whilst she was still very new to the hospital she preferred not to wander and risk getting lost. That being said staying there did mean she was easy to find and she gave a small huff as someone cleared their throat next to her. “I’m the new trauma attending so unless you have a trauma surgery incoming please piss off I’m on lunch.”

Mi corazón llora esta noche. Pensé que estar en una relación seria un sentimiento bonito, pero al contrario, solo me hace abrir los ojos de los traumas que pensé haber dejado atrás.

arizona more or less threw her scrub cap on the floor after she’d lost yet another patient, the second that day. she sat on the bench in the locker room and huffed, she sometimes wondered why she still did this job. “ i really don’t want to talk about it. ” she mumbled as someone approached on her left.

"if you're here to tell me how awful and sad your week was... don't." cristina was sitting at a nurse's station, flipping through a patient's chart absentmindedly. she had heard all about the incident(s) of the last week. she'd tried to come back early — and failed. now she was well and truly over it. which was probably only easy to say just because she hadn't been there.

“i’m having a really hard time listening to you right now...it’s not your fault, i’m just tired.” nancy yawned and sipped the coffee that was in her hand. “the attitude of my five year old is honestly disgraceful at the moment and she decided last night that she wasn’t going to bed when i asked her to.”

Kathleen had always been an internal thinker, an internal person all together actually. Despite her chosen profession, her encouraging her patients and anybody else who listened to talk about their problems, she’d always dealt with them herself. She’d process everything inside, even if she knew that it only led to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Probably because she hadn’t went to therapy. Do as I say not as I do. However, this wasn’t a big personal problem. Not something she had to keep to herself, work out how to deal with it and then probably fail at doing so. It was just a tox screen that was confusing her. Still, the muttering out loud was uncharacteristic. “This doesn’t make sense,” She said quietly, without even meaning to, but clear enough to be heard.

“i heard aneurysm and craniotomy so consider me interested. unless they’re two separate cases and in which case, i’m taking you as a volunteer.” amelia spoke to the person coming next to her as she took out the chocolate bar out of the vending machine. being 7 months pregnant going on 8, she just wanted some normalcy in her life. picking up surgeries wherever she could was the best course of action to avoid talking about her feelings.

okay, yeah, she’d slept with some doctor (well, he said he was a doctor) from the hospital after working there for less than a week. and, yes, they’d done it in the hospital. so what? she’d done worse. as she stumbled around the now empty room to reassemble her outfit, she yelped at the door opening. “hell!” her top was in her hands, pants gratefully already on and secure. “people in london usually knocked. is that not a thing here?” bella rolled her eyes. @traumasstart

if there was one thing that stephanie could really appreciate it was a list. she loved lists. there was nothing more satisfying than checking something off during the day or weighing up pros and cons in two neatly organised columns. it was the latter that she was doing now. career direction was important to her, perhaps more than anything else at the moment. in each column she had listed each specialty and written what she loved and what she hated.
“theoretically, could you picture me next to a giant brain or a giant heart? what do i look better with?” she asked the nearest person thoughtfully as she imagined how she’d look on the cover of a medical magazine.

“I’m just saying honestly what is wrong with a kettle and some instant coffee granules?” Could Pippa’s frustration have stemmed from the fact she didn’t know how to work the coffee machine? Yes. Was she about to admit that? No. Instead she was currently sipping the mediocre coffee she had managed to make and moaning instead.

OPEN STARTER.
“If you want something special like a caramel macchiato Frappuccino espresso there is a Starbucks about a block away so you can go there. I will give you a cappuccino and you will say thank you.” Grace gave the fakest smile that she could muster and held her hand out for the customers money.

bella was on her first break and had decided to do some exploring, she was yet to tell her mother that she was in the same country as her let alone the same city or the same hospital in fact but bella was determined to find her way around the hospital. after a couple of laps of what seemed to be the same corridor each time, she realised that she was well and truly lost. damn. she headed to where she could see the most people and approached the first person that she saw. bella was not one to feel afraid when speaking to new people, her confidence levels were borderline narcissistic, so she found it easy to approach a stranger and ask for help. ‘hi.’ cue sarcastic smile. ‘i’m very lost, can you tell me how i get to the coffee cart in the main foyer.’ no please or thank you, she didn’t care much for pleasantries. she didn’t specify that she worked there but that was irrelevant.

“no, no. i am listening,” aurora promised, but her eyes were focused on the centre of her companions face. “you just- you’ve got something on your face just there,” she motioned toward her own nose to mirror the unfortunate state of the other’s. rory was trying very hard not to laugh, although not quite hard enough.

━━ ✦ OPEN STARTER FT. @traumasstart
The fact that Lachlan had been in Seattle for nearly a week and hadn’t yet many anyone of any importance within the hospital was shocking to him. He’d managed to turn up at the right time to be abandoned by everyone else going on what sounded like a hideous staff retreat, and while he might have dodged a bullet not needed to attend, he didn’t appreciate not having had some sort of introduction. He was the new head of general surgery after all, and where he’d come from that actually meant something. “God this is disgusting.” He grimaced following the long sip of coffee he’d got himself from the cafeteria. “Surely you don’t all live on this cafeteria coffee?”

“It has been a long week.” That was an understatement. Daphne truly hadn’t minded the company retreat, she’d gotten tipsy and made some new friends. The best part? Nathan had the good sense to confiscate her phone, which meant no awkward voicemails left for an ex she truly didn’t want to see. Worst part? Apparently her brother and his friend hadn’t gotten memo about no drunk dialling, and so she’d been dealing with that ex and his phone calls all week despite doing nothing to deserve it. She sighed deeply as her phone rung again, glaring at the offending device while her hands curled into fists. “Take it away from me or I swear I will throw it against a wall.”

with a cigarette between her fingers, gabbie stood outside her new place of work, she had an airpod in one ear and was watching people come and go. an ambulance pulled up and she watched as the craziness happened right before her eyes. she turned to her side to see someone seemingly watching people too. ‘ is it always this crazy? thank god i didn’t become a doctor. ’
