Fëanor, Fingolfin, and Finarfin loved all their nephews and nieces I take no argument. They showed it in different ways, but there were never any malicious thoughts towards them.

Any competition they had was between each other (though Finarfin was very much youngest sibling literally cba to deal with his older brothers.)

Fëanor: Always has too much food, used to his kids bringing over their respective favourite cousin for a meal because they were out playing too late and he’s not exactly going to send a child home hungry. As they got older it was because they’d been out and this was the closest place to disappear away to and crash. He’s used to seeing various kids sprawled across the carpet in the living room, waking up with headaches and groans. He’ll never admit it, but he finds it hilarious and enjoys seeing the children happy. If his brothers ask? ‘What do you mean they were out, I’ve had your children here with me all night.’

Fingolfin: One day I’ll stop linking this post but I really like how it turned out so you get to see it again! Fingolfin happily lets them traverse his house, go through his belongings. He’s very much a partner in crime, helping them sneak around, acting as lookout. Pretending not to see a majority of sweet pasties disappear overnight. He lives closest to the busy parts of the city, so it’s not unusual for the kids to get ready at his house if they’re going out anywhere or even preparing for Court. Most of the kids have their own shared room, and they’re full to the brim of everyone’s clothes, jewellery, shoes. Essentially a whole wardrobe. It gets messy, but he loves seeing his house full of life. Even if he could do without the mess Tyeko and Iressë bring in… and the various musicals at 3am. ‘You know we never tire of having you here… but perhaps you could tone down the partying? Just a little?’ He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Finarfin: My guy ofc has his house by the sea which like Fingolfin’s, has many many rooms full to the brim with clothes and jewellery. It’s essentially a home away from home for his niece and nephews, they don’t have to pack because everything’s already there. As youngest uncle and closest in age, he’ll just so happen to tell the kids where to have fun. He had the least pressure on him growing up and knows the best places in Tirion and Alqualondë. Going to Finarfin’s is like going on holiday, he’ll back them up and make sure they can do what they want without worrying about their reputations as princes and princesses. ‘The kids are far too stressed and don’t get to come here often, brothers. Let them have their fun. I’ll take care of them.’

Bonus!

Finwë: The mastermind. The accomplice. The alibi. He has a wild side to him born in Cuivienen and honed over the Great Journey. Court life is too stuffy even for him sometimes, let alone his grandchildren. He’s the one telling them all the wild things he got up to in his youth with a wink at the end subtly telling them how to do things their parents definitely would not approve of. High King Finwë would never! High King Finwë definitely would, and he’s making sure his grandkids get the experience too. He’s the one who gets the parents to leave for weeks at a time and his grandchildren have the time of their lives. ‘My sons, you worry too much! Don’t you trust your father?’

I have the most random headcanon about Young Just Us. (Like, so random)

It starts with the pretty common "they all steal each other's clothes" thing, but then it starts to get a little out of control.

So, they have this space mission where they save a planet of magic people (or a planet with a group of magic people a la the Jedi, maybe?) and get a reward.

"So, you want us to pick something magical? And you'll give it to us?"

Turns out it has to be something "mundane." Or, it can't be, like, world-saving. Nothing that would help in battle or make you rich or anything. Just... something mundane. Your ice cream never melts past the point you want it to. Your socks never lose their mates. That kind of thing.

So YJ put their heads together. And they (after many, many disagreements) come up with something.

"Can you connect our closets? Like, any place any of us think of as our closet we can step through our closets into a group closet?"

And there are caveats (you can only exit the way you entered. Only clothes/accessories/etc. (things you'd normally put in a closet and/or things you wear) can pass through different doors than they entered. there are other things, but the gist of it is that it has little to no tactical value) but they get their shared closet space.

"Oh! And we have a teammate who couldn't be here today. Can she be included in this?"

"Absolutely. Just make sure you're thinking of her when we do the magic."

(Because Cissie can stop being a hero, but she can never stop being one of them.)

Anyway, this is the basic incident, but I keep thinking of more things to add to the scenario.

Like, they come up with a system to say which things are off limits for borrowing. (Things they need for an upcoming event. Things they stole from other people and don't want re-stolen (I'm thinking specifically of Tim stealing Dick's hoodies.)) Probably some kind of system with colored dots or labeled clothespins.

Anyway, you get Tim walking around in Cassie's costume pants (the ones with the stars) and Cissie's Team USA warm-up jacket. And Cassie's wearing a Gotham Knights jersey, one of Cissie's school skirts, and Anita's earrings. Meanwhile, Bart is swimming in one of Anita's tops and a pair of those too-big jeans Tim wears and Kon's leather jacket. Greta sometimes goes and just digs for the softest, most oversized things and comes out looking even more mismatched than the rest of them. (Not that they always look mismatched. Sometimes they put together outfits that you'd never think of but actually kinda work.)

(At some point one of them needs to get stopped by a friend/family member who's like "does anything you're wearing belong to you?" And the YJ member being questioned just looks down and goes "uhhhh....")

I'm pretty sure that if some random person opened one of their closets it would look normal. But if they were showing someone, I think that would work. Plus, I like the idea of Cissie making it so Traya can grab stuff from her closet when she wants. Like, those are her kinda-sorta-older-siblings. Let her steal their clothes sometimes.

Now I'm thinking that they could probably build a kind of nest in the shared space where they can hide from the universe when it gets too much. (Getting dangerously close to tactical use here. Maybe there's a limit on how many people at once/how long you can be in there?)

Also! They'd never have to pack for a sleepover again!

When men like problematic violent video games and media it's easily "life doesn't equal fiction", but when women like toxic romance it's "poor women are being brainwashed into liking abusive relationships we shouldn't glorify", but society don't wanna acknowledge their infantilization of women when it comes to guilty pleasure hobbies geared towards a female demographic, like they don't have common sense and a brain when consuming fiction

I feel like comic writers and some fans have forgotten that Young Justice is mostly about the girls. The main storylines were about Secret/Greta, Cissie, and Anita. The boys were there but they had their own runs. Take Young Justice Dark Crisis, yeah it's all about the boys IF you only read the first 5 ish comics. After that it's either big comic events or about the girls. Really the girls are the main characters of Young Justice, the boys are there to draw people in.

she needs to fight!!! here’s my redesign for anita :)

i felt like something was lacking in her costume and i wanted to take a stab at redesigning her so! here she is!

explanation will be under the cut :]

when i started this redesign, i knew i wanted to incorporate her cultural background a lot more. she is implied (i don’t believe they outright specify it) to practice specifically haitian voodou & both of my parents practice african traditional religions. so, i talked to my dad about different ways to connect that to her costume and he brought up west african masquerades.

i was sent many, many videos (thank u dad 🫡) of masquerades as well as celebrations of junkanoo, which is a festival that started in north america rooted in west african festival traditions & they both have bright colors & masks that i felt really lent itself to the empress costume

i knew i wanted to keep her general silhouette, but i tweaked it to better suit the masquerade & festival costumes e.g. her glove and boot cuffs being flipped.

the stripes were a common aspect, and i based the masks more on junkanoo than masquerades just because of the important meanings behind masquerading that i am not qualified to apply to a dc comics characters ajhdjsja. i also made her under armor a lot more yellow to have less people confuse it as her skin? which i’ve seen a few times.

speaking of, now onto her actual appearance. i think anita has a very cute design, but like many non-white comic characters , it is a bit of a struggle. but! that’s an easy fix.

first, i gave her knotless french curl braids, bc all the black vigilantes i draw have to have protective hairstyles apparently lmao. but also it’s a nice mix of the braids she wears in yj sometimes and her usual hair. yippee

(+ i just made her empress hair a wig, bc it’s very much more convenient & plays into the festival costume aspect)

and, finally, i made her skin tone a lot deeper bc, especially compared to her white teammates, her skin is super gray 😭 which is common for a lot of brown comic characters unfortunately. i could’ve just made her og skintone more saturated but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s a free country.
