Renesmee is partially named after Esme and yet they have no meaningful interactions in the book or movie.

We're told Renesmee sometimes sleeps in Esme's arms, but we don't see it. The only thing we really have is Nessie playing with Esme's second best set of silverware while everyone watches her.

When the Cullens leave to find witnesses, Rosalie blows Renesmee a kiss. Esme only says goodbye to Bella and Edward.

Carlisle put his hand on Edward's shoulder for a second and then kissed my forehead. Esme hugged us both, and Emmett punched us both on the arm. Rosalie forced a hard smile for Edward and me, blew a kiss to Renesmee, and then gave Jacob a parting grimace.

The only reference to 'grandma' in the books is to Grandma Swan's hair combs Bella wears at the wedding.

What's up with this? Is this just a function of the Bella-centric writing in which Esme is an afterthought? Or is this an in-universe thing where Esme and Nessie legitimately aren't close?

Likewise Charlie gets to be 'grandpa' and Carlisle's role seems more like 'doctor,' with him taking measurements and trying to get her to drink baby formula.

"Her diet… well, she prefers to drink blood. Carlisle continues to try to persuade her to drink some baby formula, too, but she doesn't have much patience with it. Can't say that I blame her – nasty-smelling stuff, even for human food."

I know fanfic and headcanons are often filled with sweet moments between Nessie and her Cullen grandparents but the text (and movie) isn't. Part of me wonders if it's because Charlie is Nessie's biological grandparent and Esme and Carlisle aren't. That whole "Edward and Bella have a REAL family" vs the found family of the larger Cullen clan.

disclaimer: there are going to be differences between this and canon twilight. for example: there are real werewolves (not shape shifters) and it's not the whole quileute tribe nor is it tied to the proximity of vampires. jasper was not confederate. while the cullens are a found family, they're not paired up like that (I always found that weird), except for esme and carlisle. imprinting is not a thing. the characters are not gonna be exactly the same: I wanna give them nuances and explore them. the list goes on. please keep this in mind going forward and ask whatever questions you may have.

I believe Twilight was more horror than romance. I don't believe Bella's ending was a happy ending. I believe she was prey to a family of vampires and naturally she died because of them. At least Rosalie tried to help. At least Jacob and his family tried to help. I also believe Charlie was trying to do the right thing and be a good dad. But in the end Bella is dead. This old vampire man stalked her, broke her privacy by being in her bedroom while she was sleeping, let her know he was a monster so she more than likely knew she would have no chance of escaping them bc they had her scent and it's like she became addicted to them. They left and her reactions were not normal. It was like some form of withdrawals or something. She was a child, a teenager. She was young and they were old, powerful, wealthy, some went to school with her, they knew where she lived and who her family and friends were, they had her scent, and Bella maybe believed they were good and wouldn't hurt her bc they saved her from James and were vegetarian but y'all if she wanted to leave, if she didn't want to be in a relationship with Edward do y'all think they would let her? I don't view her ending, Jacob and his family's and Charlie's endings as happy. I believe The Cullen's are monsters and what they did wasn't good or right. They shouldn't have been in Forks, they shouldn't have been going to high school, they shouldn't have interacted with Bella, they should've stayed gone when they left.

So I'm so sorry if you've answered this I couldn't find anything, but like...how is it with vampire hearing and "sounds". That I know you've written much about, but like, if you snuggle/lay your head/ear on your bfs/gfs stomach you can hear all the little processes in there, that you can't hear sitting beside them.. could the cullens just being in a room with you hear every internal movement (which is constant) in your stomach, like potential farts? And if so, can they choose not to hear it?

Judging by all the things Bella can hear when she wakes up to her new life - a squirrel's heartbeat, someone (that she's able to identify as Rosalie) shifting their weight from one foot to the other, and pitches humans can't hear at all - then, yes they can hear all of those things.

Since there's no off-button to hearing I imagine they can't opt out full stop, but since Bella is able to interact with Charlie and Bella without thinking to herself, "Charlie nodded, the motion making his brain bounce lightly against the protective fluid lining his skull. The whining noise of his spinal disks grinding against each other as he turned his head to look at Edward, eyeballs sliding against their sockets, was deafening." makes me think she's able to tune it out pretty easily.

Where does Renesmee fall on the Cullen reality disconnect index?

Hard to say, she's only three months old by the time canon has ended, and those have been a weird three months. Not to mention we have to ask ourselves what Renesmee's reality even is.

I'm going to say that Renesmee's pretty well grounded in reality (second only to Emmett, perhaps), it's just that the reality she knows is very strange.

What is the World Renesmee Lives In?

For the first few years of her life, Renesmee's going to be sequestered from society. She grows too fast, she would be noticed immediately, and her intellectual age does not match her physical age. She won't start in on the high school routine probably until she's fully grown at seven or eight.

This means that her only real interactions are with the Cullens (an interesting and mixed bag), Jacob (not so good and very strange), Charlie (who will die), and if the Quileute are feeling particularly nice/are pestered by Jake, the other imprintees (this is unlikely and at best a few functions).

Renesmee knows of humanity through our media: through literature, films, music, etc. Even more so than the Cullens, she's like a ghost living in our world, who sees the remnants of what we are long before she ever sees people themselves.

Humans are this strange, ineffible, ideal that Rosalie wishes she was, Edward worships and loathes, Carlisle works as a doctor to heal, and Charlie Swan somehow is. There's thing called death that humans themselves grapple with and don't seem to understand.

Why Do I Not Consider Her Disconnected From Reality?

I think Renesmee will have a very clear look at what her world is and the relationships within it, it's just a different world from our own. She'll have an outside perspective on human society, certainly, but even within the Cullens she's always a bit of an outsider looking in.

She's not hampered by any internal desperation or desire to see the world in any given way the way many of the Cullens are. This will give her perspective.

It was Alice’s bright idea as per usual. 

This time, she had convinced everyone that they will be hosting a New Years Eve Party, though whilst Rosalie and Jasper had protested because humans, Edward reminding Alice what happened the last party they held, but Alice put her foot down. 

You and Emmett weren’t that bothered, you actually interacted with Bella’s friend and out of the whole coven - you were the most sociable vampire, from Bella’s words. Now, of course, you were apprehensive, Jasper was your soulmate and whilst he does his best at school, you think that hosting a party would push him over the edge since it’s his break away from the humans.

Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop Alice from putting her foot down and making preparation, already inviting many people to the party before they broke up for winter break.

Jasper hasn’t been too vocal towards you about his feelings about the party, if anything he’s been distracting himself from it, Carlisle had taken him out for a long hunt with Esme and Rose, they didn’t return for three days, so it was your job as a responsible member of the family to make sure the rest who was left behind didn’t cause much of a mess.

Though, that’s hard to do when it’s Alice complaining to Edwards as Emmett tries to annoy Edward, also trying to stop Bella from doing something reckless with Emmett because she’s still human.

The party was quick to start, Emmett was on music, keeping the house lively as it was Carlisle and Esme buying the kids drinks, the Cullens telling other students that their parents will turn a blind eye. Plus, Bella was there so Charlie knows not to go to the Cullen’s house.

It’s not like they were bothering anyone, they lived in the forest. Jasper watched how kids were getting drunk over three or four cups of beer, he scrunched up his nose at the smell of drunken kids.

His eyes scan the room, looking for one person in particular, though failing to find that certain someone. He moves to the next room, seeing more kids getting hammered, but with the aid of a game. He sees that you are not in that room cheering Rose thrash some poor jock. 

Jasper chuckles to himself because Rose has always been competitive and she has no mercy to show who was boss between her and anyone who challenges her. 

“Hey, Bella,” Jasper shouted over the music, grabbing the girl by her elbow, “Have you seen (Y/n)?”

Bella looked at the blond and nodded, “Out on the balcony, he said it was a bit too much for him so he went upstairs to sit about, but I saw him standing out on his room balcony when I went outside for a bit.”

Jasper nods, cheering his thanks, letting her go as he weaves his way towards upstairs. Tactically placing his cup of beer down, hoping no one had seen that he hadn’t taken a sip out of it. He hopes if he passed by where he left that cup that someone would claim it as his. 

Alice had agreed that they lock their rooms, whilst they don’t need a bed to sleep, they had other activities that went down on that furniture and no one wanted to catch high schoolers having a wild night. Vampires can’t have a heart attack, but the thought of sex to Edward was repulsive that he got an extra lock on his room. 

Jasper unlocks your room’s door and enters, kicking the door behind and locking it. Almost immediately, the blasting music becomes muffled. 

Jasper relaxed because your room was his room. He could just lie in bed, tucked in, with you by his side as you watch whatever you felt like it - you have eternal you spend, and it fascinates both you and Jasper how the world was changing, constantly.

Jasper slides the door open of the balcony door to see you leaning against the railings.

“Hello, darling,” Jasper greeted, placing a gentle hand on your back, rubbing up and down reassuringly, finally kissing your temple.

“Hello, cowboy,” You greeted back, a fond smile upon your face.

“Are you okay?” Jasper questions, looking at you, he doesn’t need to ask - he could feel what you’re feeling, but it never hurts to ask, “Bella had mentioned that-”

“I’m okay, Jas,” You cut him off, placing your hand on his, “I’m just thinking that we’re entering another year with each other, it’s nice.”

Jasper squeezes your hand, “Yes, it’s rather nice.”

You nodded, “I’m glad I met you, Jasper, I’m glad that you’re the one that has my heart, that mates with my soul. You really do bring the best of me.”

“Awh, shucks,” Jasper teases as you rolled your eyes, “I couldn’t have asked for a better husband, a better soulmate.”

There was silence as you go to hug him, whilst you two are vampires and only emit coldness, there was warmth as if it was transmitted out from your chest from warm love. You stand there in each other’s arms looking out into the forest, seeing how people were moving out to the front.

“I’m surprised you managed without me for a few hours, Jasper, especially around humans.”

“I’m not a child, (Y/n), plus I went on a hunting trip with Carlisle, the thirst won’t be bad,” Jasper complained as you chuckle, sometimes your husband could act a little childish.

The two of you could hear the countdown, people starting to count down from ten seconds as the two of you could see your coven leader standing out front, risking himself by lighting fireworks, it made you chuckle a bit, but you could see Esme watching with concern in her eyes despite that she was also helping set fireworks off.

As everyone chants out the number one, the first firework goes up, setting itself ablaze. Jasper holds onto you a little longer, you smile as you kissed his temple.

“Happy New Year, my love,” You spoke tenderly, watching the fireworks in its pretty colours.

“Happy New Year, darling.”

bella being a high school teacher wouldn't have worked for her character because she always thought of herself as so much better than high school, right? I don't get it. I think she should've wanted to work in the woods, she loved the woods. maybe the olympic national park? for a clumsy girl who loved to read, she was pretty outdoorsy. what do you think she would've wanted to do, if not teach?

I think SM has said that Bella wanted to teach English in college--she didn't want to teach kids who HAD to be there, she wanted to teach people who choose to be there or whatever. But even that I'm not sure I buy; she's extremely introverted, being in front of a class, speaking that much to people who are at first strangers, seems like it would be entirely out of Bella's comfort zone. I know it's one of the main reasons I didn't end up going into teaching. And that's not getting into the fact that now she's frozen at just-turned-19. She's going to look the same age or younger than most college students. How is that supposed to work in terms of 'blending in?'

I always think of a book store, then she gets to be surrounded by the books she loves with minimal interaction with other people (just working as a cashier, perhaps, or helping them find things, versus lecturing in front of a class). She'd be good at the managerial aspect of things, since she's so organized and particular from (apparently) running Renee and then Charlie's households.

But I like the outdoorsy angle, too. She was initially resistant to the idea of Forks, but she eventually embraced it and did spend a lot of time outdoors, and did in fact work at Newton's Outfitters for awhile--maybe she developed a taste for hiking and camping and spending time (alone! or alone-ish) outside. Maybe she was even surprised to learn that about herself. And as a vampire, assuming she has the Epic Self Control she's implied to have, she'd be really great at finding and rescuing people who get lost or hurt. "How did you find me so fast?" "oh I followed your scent and used vampire speed to run I mean wait what?"

I do hope she finds some purpose in her life. Renesmee's going to grow up in seven years, so even if she really does genuinely love the Mommy Life (and I, um, am not entirely convinced she does) it will be short-lived. Renesmee barely needs her now, she not going to need her much at all when she's "grown." Unlike her parents, Renesmee will reach full maturity for her species, while Edward and Bella are frozen as not-quite-adults. I honestly wish the other Cullens would go out and find something to do like Carlisle has done. I think it's probably a big part of why he comes off as better-adjusted than most of them (he's only 23 so it's not necessarily an age thing). He's found some peace and purpose. It doesn't have to be a job--they obviously don't need the money--but they all just strike me as kind of stagnant and bored in the books, finding something fulfilling, whether it's some sort of job, or volunteer opportunity, charitable endeavor, something. They have their hobbies but it still feels limited--Alice designs clothes for herself and her family, not anyone else (apparently). Rosalie fixes and upgrades their cars, but it doesn't go beyond that. Esme's architectural work is never really made clear if it's a hobby or a career. Emmett and Jasper don't seem to do anything but make bets and wrestle. Just . . . putting some good out into the world, somehow, would be nice. Hell, even just ENGAGING with the world in a meaningful way. The books never convinced me that anyone but Carlisle actually cared about participating in the human world; it felt like the others were just putting up with it for his sake. Edward could play piano at nursing homes (he'd know all the old-timey songs they elderly residents would request! They'd be in amazed!), it would probably help that vampire ennui.

“Your mom called…Bella’s decided…move here.”

That broken phrase had played over and over again in Paxton’s mind all day. It had put her head into a waterlogged state and shifted her emotions into chaos. Walking through the halls of Forks High School, the teen kept her head down. The hood of her light weight grey sweatshirt, that rested under her red and black flannel, was up to shield her face, and her fidgety hands stuffed deep into the pockets of her white washed jeans. Her Jordan’s scuffed against the dated linoleum floors as her feet drug with each step.

Paxton didn’t know what to feel. She hadn’t seen Bella in years, they didn’t talk unless on parent forced them to on a holiday. Those conversations were short, awkward, and emotionless. The two were strangers who shared a last name. They lived separate lives and now they were going to collide because Bella wanted it? Why didn’t she get a say? Why hadn’t it been a discussion instead of just Charlie informing her this was what was going to happen? It wasn’t how the two had worked her whole life. Before Bella was here things were already changing.

A sense of betrayal filled her with those thoughts. Then came anger, this was her life too! But the betrayal also caused pain, she hadn’t been involved—her feelings and thoughts weren’t taken into consideration. And finally anxiety that these changes would destroy the normal Paxton had worked so hard to get. Anxiety that woke up demons within her the Swan had thought long passed. A broken groan quietly passed her lips as she took one hand from her pocket to turn up the volume on her phone so maybe the music in her ears would drowned them out. She had been doing so well since the incident last year.

To any outside observer it was clear something was off with the usually playful girl. Normally she’d be laughing and goofing off with Mike, teasing Angela about Eric, or going on about some new character she’d found in the rare comic she’d found in the rundown bookstore on Main Street. But instead she was isolating herself. She hadn’t said hi to anyone today, avoided any social interaction when possible. Paxton was again shutting down, things too overwhelming to even fake being okay.

As she made her way into the Creative Writing classroom—a class that usually filled her with happiness and provided an escape— she stayed withdrawn. A slow exhale of a deep breath, pulling one headphone from her ear, Paxton moved through the rows of desks to her seat. What proved even more the teen was too far into her head was when her grey-blue eyes scanned one Rosalie Hale and didn’t feel that normal spark of electricity. Normally, she’d give a light smile or a nod of her head before she took her seat. Maybe if she was feeling brave enough a ‘hey’ would be said.

Today though as soon as those deep all knowing honey eyes landed on Paxton, she put her head further down and quickly took her seat. Paxton knew with one look Rosalie would know something was seriously wrong. How? Paxton wasn’t sure. But over the last year the two had created this language—a form of communication that didn’t even consist of words. A twitch of a lip, the movement of a brow, the way a shoulder or head would tilt, and the endless expression from eyes. A full silent conversation could happen within seconds. At times Paxton half believed it was in her head, a fantasy. Rosalie Hale was a stunningly beautiful senior, above her on more than one level, and a part of the Cullen family—Paxton was just a lowly junior from a one parent home that barely made it by. It couldn’t be real. But something within her always said it was real.

Paxton rolled her neck as she slide down into the uncomfortable plastic chair, her notebook open in front of her and pen in her hand. Without conscious thought the pen started to tap to the music still playing in her one ear. She just wanted to get through this class so the day could end.

But it seemed the fates, who loved toying with her, had other plans. Instead of a lecture their teacher had decided to torture her. An in class assignment that was due by the bell…partners with the person behind you. The grip on her pen tightened, eyes closed as a silent pray went up that this was a dream. Any other day Paxton would be thanking the fates, grateful for the chance to talk to her secret crush.

Swallowing roughly, Paxton turned her body to be halfway facing Rosalie. The assignment paper on her lap resting on her notebook. Her eyes still downcast. “I’m good with however you want to do this.” Her voice was gravely from a days worth of silence, the words a near whisper as if she spoke too loudly it would be overwhelming.

Hi I don't know if my request for Leah Clearwater and autistic reader went through but I was wondering if she can be the twin sister of Bella but she's both Rosalie's mate and Leah's imprint so they have to share reader? Both are protective of reader and dislike the way Bella treats her.

Maybe they take turns on who gets her on what days until they get use to each other? I was thinking that reader is trying her hardest to bond with Bella but Bella infantalizes her. One day reader is using a knife for the first time without being scared of it and Bella rushes in and pulls it away from her which causes reader's right palm to be cut open and a little bit of her right wrist. She screams in pain and ends up leaving the house and calling Rosalie who takes her to Carlisle to get stitches and bandaged up. Reader explains that she was just trying to fix dinner for the three of them that night so Bella didn't have to but Bella freaked out about her using the knife. Rosalie is angry and makes sure that reader is immediately taken to the rez after she's stitched and bandaged up. They both stay with the Clearwaters because reader wants Rosalie there with them. At first Leah and Rosalie are uncomfortable sharing the same bed until reader asks to be held by both of them. They do and Leah and Rosalie get to talking and smile about how they both thought they weren't destined for love and how they found reader and how much they love her and reader smiles in her sleep and Rosalie is given permission to stay on the land as long as reader is there.

Reader ends up living with Leah and Rosalie and Charlie ends up blaming himself for not doing more. Ends with Leah, Rosalie, and reader kissing?

I’m sorry, I do write poly relationships but Rosalie and Leah I just can’t picture them together so I wouldn’t be able to write this, I’ve never seen the pair interact as far as I remember

I’m also not comfortable writing three people kissing at once (I’m not sure if that’s what you meant by the end part but that’s what I got from reading it)
