for once, danbi’s glad that the company’s giving her a reason to go out and spend time doing anything but practicing - preparations have been in full swing since it was revealed crystallis will be coming back in april, and things have only gotten busier and busier as they inch closer towards their release date.

so lgc’s annual ‘love month’ month-long celebrations came as a true breath of fresh air for her - a nice day of respite from the hustle and bustle of idol-life. visiting the food (coffee?) truck today was a chance for her to take in the winter air, meet some of the current trainees in the company, and (hopefully) make new friends - specifically in that of jung jiae, fabula’s newest member.

danbi remembers asking her manager to ask their manager for jiae’s number - subsequently texting her herself to see if she’d like to check out the company coffee truck together. thankfully, jiae said yes - they agreed to drive over together, with crystallis’ manager accompanying them for the outing in question.

sitting in their van, danbi can’t help the happy hums as her thumbs type out a quick message to jiae in tandem -

     if life was just like a movie, there would have been a record scratch playing in the background, and the entire world would come to a halt. a flashback of a heartbreak would be on display for everyone to see. unfortunately enough, min-ah wasn’t able to play god just like that -- everything was raw, unedited ( unlike multitude of her videos, where life was nothing but perfect ). shaky hand clutched her phone, almost as if it was going to slip right through her fingers just like a small chance of having her happiness being brought back. for the first time since what it felt like forever, the young businesswoman-to-be had little to no idea what to do.

     heated up, rosy cheeks, the tiniest hint of a slur to her words, countless attempts to figure out what to say to the only person on her mind -- she was standing there, hesitantly reaching further to knock on the door. how would she react ?? would she be surprised to see min-ah’s face ?? would she close the door before even giving her a chance to speak ?? there was a whole world of possibilities, and she wasn’t prepared for any of the outcomes. because, frankly... how would one cope with seeing the face of a person who once was their one and only, the person who broke their heart into millions of pieces ?? well, there was one way to find out...

     “--- rune ??” taking one step closer to the door, min-ah voiced, “please...” a silent sigh slipped from her quivering lips. she was ready for rejection. she knew she didn’t deserve forgiveness, but it still didn’t hurt to at least try and get a some kind of closure. in the end, she was the one to call everything off so abruptly, leaving the other woman with thousands upon thousands unanswered questions. it was a mistake, but min-ah, despite endless pleas, couldn’t turn back time and make things right the first time around. “i... --- i need to talk to you.”

Another missed chord. Another drum hit out of beat. Each small misstep made by the other members of his band caused the irritation inside of him to grow more and more. They had been practicing for hours now and he knew it had to do more with the fatigue of it all than their unwillingness to put the hours in, but with each passing day their efforts seemed to be stilted. They weren’t growing in popularity so why bother? Hyunwoo released an annoyed breath of air before he placed his guitar down on a stand, abruptly ending the song halfway through, and went to collapse on the couch nearby. “Let’s just stop here for the day, alright?” He buried his face in his hands, unwilling to look at any of them now. The probability of him snapping and causing an even bigger problem with the group was rather high right then. His hope was that they’d do as he said and just leave. “We can try again tomorrow. Or next week. I don’t care.” Maybe his words sounded a little blasé, but they were honestly how he felt at that moment. They were getting older, none of this was going to matter for much longer. It’d almost be better to just give up right then.

on JULY 26, around 3pm when certain trainees are present at the company, KIM HYUNCHEOL gathers the lot in the company’s available room. when everybody is seated, the head manager looks at the trainees in front of him. “CHOI JUNHEE, CHOI JUNKYU, JUNG WOOBIN, LEE JAKE, MING TIAN, PONGSAK TEE, SEO JUNHWAN, SON EUNHO, SONG JIAHN and YOO DAEHO.” he names the male trainees to make sure all of them are present. “i’m sure you’ve heard the news about v&a and type zero debuting, right? after discussing it with my team, we’ve decided to put all of you through a secret project. through this project, you will go through a series of evaluations that will not only assess your talents as a performer, but your group dynamics as well. we want to make sure that you are ready for the day when you debut and that can happen at any time. the sooner we start it, the better equip all of you will be when that day comes.”

“first topic i want to mention is teamwork. in groups, this is important to their success. whether it’s understanding and coping with each other’s personalities to synchronizing well during performances, most of this comes down to teamwork.” he pauses to look and analyze their reactions. “so to work on this, every saturday during free practice, one or two of you will be randomly chosen as the leaders of the group. as the leaders, you are supposed to take care and know your fellow trainees throughout the week. by the day of the evaluation, all of you should have been leaders at least once. use this as a chance to get well-acquainted with each other.” he ends his statement with a warning, hoping that the trainees would take his advice.

This is a community. Which means that no matter what, we stick together. That goes for the good and the bad. We all take advantage of everyone’s hard work by using the things they bring us, eating the food they make, living safely because they protect us or by following their rules. So, when we are given missions, we do our best to complete them. Knowing that they are all important and that our success will help everyone. I hope everyone does their best and returns safely. Here are your missions.

This task is meant to be done by Sunday, the 7th of July. This is a paired task, where 2 muses will be paired at random for it. You are meant to create a thread, para or otherwise, where both muses try and complete the task given to them. You do not have to finish this thread by the 7th. However, I do ask that you do start it before Monday.

Your characters are in danger but they will only get hurt if YOU want them to (please message me before making that decision). They might also have NPCs with them during their mission and they might get injured or killed (again, please contact me before). Your goal is to perform the task given to you by the community, however, you might succeed or fail. (Inform me before if you think they will succeed or fail please. So that I can keep it balanced on how many make it and how many don’t.)

You two were sent outside to collect something (up to you) and noticed one of the teenagers from the community had snuck out and found trouble in the nearby woods. They’re in real dangerous and surrounded by a hoard of zombies. You have no time to call for someone else. If they live or die is going to be decided by what you do next.  (If your characters succeed their mission they will save the teenager).

You two were sent out with one of the cars to look through an isolated house that hasn’t been searched yet. This house is located in the middle of the woods and far away from anyone who might help you. I advice you to be extra careful, there’s a whole family inside and they’ve turned. (If your characters succeed their mission they will bring back clothing, canned food and two bottles of pills for the community).

Someone has to clear the road. One of the roads that leads to the community has been covered in falled trees, probably from a storm in the past years. They need to clear the road so that they can use it instead of wasting gas every time and going around through the opposite direction. However, loud noises attract zombies. (If your characters succeed their mission they will help the community save on gas).

We need more wood for the rest of the wall that is yet to be built. You were given one truck and two axes and sent off to the woods. Your goal is to fill the truck as much as you can without letting the zombies get you. The only issue is that cutting down trees makes a lot of noise and it might attract them to your location.  (If your characters succeed their mission they will bring back wood for the community).

Medicine is one of the most important things for the community. After founding an old business card, they found out that there was a dentist just ten minutes away (by horse because we can’t afford to spend too much gas). Let’s hope that nobody went there already and you can still find something. Be careful, I heard there’s a hoard of zombies walking around the area.  (If your characters succeed their mission they will bring back medicine for the community).

Your task is to fill a water tank. Simple right? The only problem is... The water tank weights more than one of you does and the river makes noise so there are normally zombies around. Good luck.  (If your characters succeed their mission they will bring back water for the community).

Building a wall around the community isn’t easy. Nor is finishing the houses in the community. It’s especially difficult when they have a limited amount of tools at their disposal. However, there is a small store that used to have tools close by. You were given two horses to go and check it out. Hopefully there’s still tools there. You might run into a few zombies along the way and at the location, so be careful. (If your characters succeed their mission they will bring back tools for the community).

It was a supply run gone wrong. Neither of them normally did supply runs but, due to lack of personnel to send to the various locations, they had been chosen to go along on one. Until there was a hoard of zombies that caused the group to get split up. They’re in a department store and have to escape and return safely. (If your characters succeed their mission they will save themselves and be able to help the others return safely with all the things they already had in the car).

“now that all the administrative things are behind, i can share your schedule for this trimester. an important part of our industry is the HISTORICAL GENRE. from the clothes of that time, to the old formal language and the rich history, there is enough for actors to specialize in this genre and still learn new things years in. during the month of july and august you will be all training in a PROFESSIONAL STUNT SCHOOL specialized in historical action. you will learn the basics of fighting and stunt acting required by actors. those of you who are not taking part in cram school or only have a guest role will be asked to attend the stunt school for a minimum of 5 days a week. those with supporting roles will attend 3 to 4 days a week depending on their schedule, while lead roles will only be asked to attend 2 days a week.”

“during the first two weeks of september, you will learn a proper fighting choreography. on the third week you will be taken on the set of HISTORICAL DRAMA where you will be acting as extras for a battle as part of the JOSEON ARMY.” she pauses. “JUNG MISO, due to the tour you’re taking part in, you will not be able to participate in the september part of the schedule. monday, APRIL 6, at 2pm, kim hyuncheol, head manager of the trainees; park jeongan, current CEO; lee iseul, head creative director; and roe kangdae, head manager of lgc creatives are standing in front of their rather big assembly; the FUTURE DREAMS contestants of season 1 and 2 and the PROJECT ORIGIN winners.

“32 trainees, 16 boys and 16 girls.” lee iseul begins. it’s the first time the trainees get to meet her in person. “do you know the meaning of the number 16? there are many, i have to be honest. but i decided to settle on three in particular; determination, growth and harmony. future dreams has been about determination and growth, that, we cannot deny. it has been about change, about passing down from an old generation, the seniors, to a new one... you. but harmony... where is this harmony?” she stares at her audience. “for the record; i lied. didn’t anybody notice? there are 34 trainees here, note 32.” her gaze goes from LEE RACHEL to PARK SEOJIN. “we are beginning like this today, because two of our companions until here will be leaving FUTURE DREAMS PROJECT. RACHEL and SEOJIN, will indeed be exiting to follow their own path. JUNG MISO will also slowing her activities with us after the next trimester, but will remain a part of the “sacred number 16″ for the time being.”  she knows the trainees must be rather confused at the moment, and this amuses her. “let’s really begin, shall we?

MISSION 1: PROJECT ORIGIN

“project origin in itself is a complete universe we are creating around the trainees present here. some will join, some will leave.” he gazes goes to the obvious concerned at the moment. “it is set in a different world, a world where the world is barren due to wars and the people are divided, war constantly breaks. only few knights bestowed with light are left but they will not hold long. the future’s hope rests on 34 knights in training. not deemed ready yet, but there’s no time left...” she explains. “if this sounds like the plot of a webtoon, you are right. stories of PROJECT ORIGIN will be released weekly and you, my dears will be the base of the characters in it.” she finally explains with a smile

this time,  it’s the ceo himself, PARK JEONGHAN, who addresses the trainees. “LGC GIRLS and LGC BOYS are becoming official rotational units. which means that from today on, should you accept the offer we are making, you will be considered IDOLS. “both units are heavily linked with PROJECT ORIGIN at the moment. should you refuse to be in one, you’ll refuse to be in the other at the same time.” the man explains. “rotational means that the lineup is bound to change and some members could miss some releases either by choice, schedule conflicts or per company decisions. new members are also likely to join.”

after the grand announcement, hyuncheol takes the lead again. “we have a packed schedule coming for you. LGC GIRLS will be releasing a mini-album of 4 songs on JUNE 15 and LGC BOYS on JULY 13. both units will then embark on a FANMEETING tour in AUGUST and SEPTEMBER. cities chosen are seoul, daegu, busan, tokyo, jakarta, macau, taipei, manila, bangkok, singapore, los angeles, minneaplis, houston, washington dc and new york!”

ACTING MISSION PART 001: NEW FACES

“now that all the administrative things are behind, i can now share a great news: all of you have your FIRST SCHEDULE: a variety show for trainee and newcomer actors that will air on jtbc. the show, called NEW FACES, will challenge the talents of 15 hopefuls, that include you. filming begins on monday and will occur every monday for 5 weeks, the show will last 7 episodes. this is a great opportunity for you to get your names out there and learn from your peers.”

CONTENT OF EACH WEEK OF FILMING

WEEK 1: each hopeful will first fill a questionnaire about their personalities, then, they will be asked to act a character they will come up with on the spot. the two mcs (JO SEHO and UHM HYUNKYUNG) will try to figure out which questionnaire belongs to whom.

WEEK 2: hopefuls are divided in teams (boys vs girls) and must guess the right movie from hints given. to have the right to go first, the person who thinks has the answer must cry on cue.

WEEK 3: hopefuls are paired in two and given a random scene (example: a break up, a police interrogation...) to act in front of a small audience of random people of all ages. the winning team gets to eat steak.

WEEK 4: hopefuls are once again divided in two teams (mixed) to play dodge ball. a person who gets hit by the ball has to go out in the JTCB public area and act as a random character for 3 minutes (example: act like terminator)

WEEK 5: hopefuls will each be given trophies for their achievements during the show, naturally categories are often nonsensical (example: best water drinker). filming will begin with a red carpet where hopefuls will need to be dressed up like during prestigious award ceremonies. each will win a prize and be asked to make a speech.

ACTING MISSION PART 002: DRAMA AUDITION

On NOVEMBER 18, contestants are brought back in the studio for the first time since the first day of filming. they are instructed to sit in their initial ranking chairs. shortly after everybody is seated, bae siwoo makes his entrance. just like on october 7, he takes the time to converse with the trainees a bit before cameras officially start rolling. this time, he is accompanied by the coaches who have been teaching and monitoring the progress of the trainees during the past weeks.

after a short introduction for the camera, he moves on to the reason why everybody is gathered here; solos and positions. “we will begin with the girls!” he announces. “the choice wasn’t easy and some of you have surprised us while others have disappointed us.” those heavy words are marked by a short pause. “before we continue, do you want to hear the song?” he waits for the trainees’ reply before cuing the music and revealing the GIRL’S SOLO. after the short 30 seconds snippet, siwoo speaks again; “let’s reveal our top 3 girls...” the face of JUNG MISO appears on a wide screen; “first; number 6, jung miso. our child actress chanel jung, who’s catched the attention with her strong expression and visuals. next...” the screen splits and appears HUANG XIYU “second; number 9, huang xiyu. also known as alice, she’s the strongest dancer in the group and shows versatility with talent in singing and rapping. and last but not least...“ a third face appears on the face with them; KANG JINA. “third is kang jina. the only third year trainee of the lot. she’s definitely one of our strongest singers on the girl’s side. so who gets it? let’s see the result.” he points to the screen again and after a short moment of suspense, jung miso and huang xiyu disappear, leaving only KANG JINA. “Congratulations to kang jina! kim youngim and the trainers have noted that your skills match the solo very well. you might find a bit of challenge in the rap part, but we’ll look forward to the result.”

he gives everyone a chance to react to the announcement before all attention turns to the male trainees. “and now for the boys! before i proceed with the results, let’s make you wait a little longer by presenting the song…” he smiles mysteriously and the studio falls silent except for the 30 second preview of the BOY’S SOLO. “who will be the top three contenders?” right as he pauses, everyone can see KANG JUN’s face appear on the screens. “first; number 9, kang jun! a young trainee no doubt, but still a well-rounded competitor with high skill in singing, dancing and rapping. next is…” siwoo begins, letting the trainees see KANG YONGHWA appear on the screen with kang jun. “number 7, kang yonghwa! he’s no doubt one of the strongest dancers in this competition, but has been able to impress with his singing and performing skills. and finally…” attention is brought to the screen again, and right in the middle appears AHN JAESUN. “number 2, ahn jaesun. he’s trained the longest among everyone here and has been able to show the trainers it wasn’t in vain. a charismatic performer indeed, skilled in both singing and dancing. and now...” while everyone expects siwoo to announce the winner, a fourth face appears on the screen, shocking everyone. it’s LEE JIHO. “yes, number 10, lee jiho. trainers were supposed to choose only three contenders, but this young trainee impressed a lot as both a singer and performer. not to be underestimated. sadly, there’s no one else! while you four impressed these past weeks, only one of you can get this solo. the winner is…” there’s a deafening silence during which all eyes are glued to the screen showing the three boys. and suddenly, ahn jaesun, lee jiho and kang jun disappear. “KANG YONGHWA! congratulations. the trainers thought your image and skills fit the concept of the song very well. they hope this vocal challenge will push your limits even further. work hard, and we’ll see the results very soon.”

“while those results might be heaven for some of you and hell for others, this is not over. in a short moment you will receive lyrics distributions for the songs you’ve been practicing until now. we will reveal right away some crucial positions and final lineup. for the boys.
