I just had a dark humor au thought (which was more of a quantum leap into the writers' room, bc this seems like a joking pitch) where during the attack on Sammy's ranch, Ben or Darius ends up in the barn and sees one of the Atrociraptors munching on Bessie's calf.

It's one of those things that would be tonally in-line with the dog being eaten in Jaws or The Lost World (Spielberg...), though a little more horrific. Too horrific, in fact, and mean-spirited, but Sammy did drop that verbal mention earlier in what would have been a perfect setup.

Obviously, doing that would have not just been too mean for a kid's show and probably violated some rules or another (which is why I'm sure someone jokingly pitched it), but it would also have required more assets...you would want a distressed Bessie, and one cow probably means other cows, so now you have to animate a bunch of cows, you need your silhouette of a dead calf, all sorts of stuff.

So instead, they just killed Carl.

Some thoughts about arcane season 2 so far. Spoilers

So, the first 6 episodes. The animation and models are excellent, the choreography for the battle scenes is amazing. But I do have some problems.

First of all the opening. It's definitely not as good as the s01 opening. It's the same song but with less interesting visuals. It's both using the 'normal' models of the characters and reusing the old song, making it objectively a worse one, with nothing new to add. It definitely has It's moments tho.

Episodes 4 and 5 felt very rushed, the plot was moving too fast for the series to keep up.

I don't really like Mel's arc so far, it feels undercooked. Kinda boring and lowkey predictable. Hope that changes because she's one of my favorite characters.

Isha. I wanted to like her, I really did. Her sacrifice in the end of ep6 felt unearned and unemotional (it was emotional but only because of Jinx, Vi and Vander, at least for me). She was definitely a bit of a nothing character. Maybe if she was introduced better to the story? Like how she accidentally falls on Jinx on that scene, what if instead of that she did it on purpose. She saw someone was passing through and deliberately fallen on top of them and it just turned out to be Jinx. Little things like that would have made her feel more like a natural character in the series rather than someone deliberately added in there to push the plot forward. (I also understand why she fell accidentally but still)...

Caitlyn did a whole 180 at some point between act1 and act2. Yes there was a timeskip but it felt too sudden (here's one example when a few more episodes would have benefitted the show more).

A lot of important character development and growth moments happen off screen actually. I don't like that.

It felt a bit too cruel to bring Vander back only to kill him again. So much angst (not really a critique of the show, just an observation).

Vi is thankfully one of the best parts of the show still. Ambessa as well. And thank God they made Ekko more of a character this season too.

I'm a little lost with the timeline (my fault honestly). I just can't place together when the events from the first few minutes of s01ep01 take place.

Overall the writing quality has decreased from s01. The episodes are great on first watch but with almost 0 rewatchability. Too many loose ends, I honestly don't know how they'll tie them up in a satisfying way.

So, so far season 2 leaves lots to be desired. I really hope this changes but we only have 3 episodes left. Feel free to tell me your opinion about s02.

I hope this event gives red viewers a better understanding of q!Bad's morals and character. I feel that I understand him a lot more as someone who mains other povs. (I think he goes too far sometimes but he cares about the eggs). He didn't defend his egg properly because he didn't think others would attack it.

Not just red viewers but everyone. q!Bad during purgatory is seen to others that he's not a good guy. No one is. But mainly Bad. That Bad is a villain. But take a look at the event and oh? Who didn't attack the eggs? Bad. Bad may not have the best of morals but when it comes to the eggs, even if it's a representation of them? He'll never hurt them. Call him a bad guy, call him evil, call him whatever but know that at least he'll never kill the eggs. Not even if it's said to them that they're not them, he won't take that risk unless seeing it for his own eyes. (Unless it's code Dapper, he'll protect it no matter what)
