year b4 last my brother proposed to this girl 21 days after meeting her and she accepted (both mormon) and they got married but then she left him last year (less than a year 2gether) and they were supposed to get legally divorced today (have been separated for over half a year) and i literally want to pull my hair out. they dismissed it and are back together i guess. it's been long distance since they started being romantic again ? and if she moves back here its going to immediately fall apart . does not help that she is just kind of a shitty person (am friends w her ex friends) and if she moves in w us (my brother and i live w our parents still) i will stab smth.

a/n: AHHH NEW SERIES W EDDIE <33! i'm so excited for this!! also my deepest apologies in advance bc i am so mean to eddie in this LMFAOO hope u guys enjoy <333
“COUNTRY STAR Y/N L/N HAS FILED FOR DIVORCE FROM HER HUSBAND, EDDIE DIAZ AFTER FIVE YEARS OF MARRIAGE.”
the voice of a news reporter flooded through the tv as photos of the former couple were placed on the screen.
“L/N on instagram asked her fans on instagram to be mindful, and that both parties are fragile, and to respect their privacy.”the reporter went on, before a photo flashed of the h/c girl, “L/N is currently gearing up for her fifth album release; SUBJECT TO CHANGE this september.”
the video came to a stop, and she saw her best friend standing in front of her, with a horrified look on his face, “you and eddie are getting a divorce?” her heart hurt. this wasn’t how she wanted him to find out.
“it was bound to happen buck.”y/n’s voice was strained due to all of the crying she had done for the past two months, with a heavy feeling in her chest, “you and i both saw this coming.”
“i didn’t.” evan buckley’s voice dropped, and y/n slipped the shades to the top of her head, revealing her bloodshot eyes, “never once did i see this coming.”
“this wasn’t how we wanted you to find out.”her voice cracked, playing with the strings of her hoodie, “eddie said he was going to call you about it.” buck’s eyes watched as the girl avoided his eyes, refusing to make contact with them, knowing if she did she would probably burst into tears.
“why did you file for divorce?”
(TWO MONTHS BEFORE.)
STARING OUT THE BIG OPEN WINDOWS OF THEIR PENTHOUSE,
y/n could see the sun rising as she finished making breakfast for her and her stepson, making sure to leave some for her husband in case he came home in time.
eddie diaz and y/n l/n had first met when she was 21, and he was 23, one kick-starting on their music career, while one had just become a single parent to a son from a former marriage. somehow, they still made it work. getting married at 23 and 25,  going from texas, to los angeles, becoming a mother figure to his son chris, and making sure she could still go on tour.
they thought they had it all figured out, with everything working and a fixed schedule.
until they didn't.
so here she sat, waiting for her husband to come home while her stepson got ready for school, knowing she’d have to force a smile, make everything seem like it was okay, and be able to play the part of the perfect wife, perfect wife. it wasn’t until she smelt smoke that y/n realized the toast was burnt to absolute crisp, and was ruined, meaning she’d have to make more.
“shit.”she muttered, rushing to make more, as she saw chris come down the hallway, and she forced a smile, brushing her h/c hair out of her face, making sure to tie it back.
“did you burn the toast again?”chris asked with a smile, and y/n forced a laugh, nodding before she brought over a plate with pancakes and eggs on them. “unfortunately, i did. i’m making more right now.”
a knock on the front door came, before it opened, revealing carla, and she had a wide smile spread across her face as she came in, and y/n waved as the toast popped up, less burnt than before. quickly placing it on a plate, and putting it on the table, making it so chris would be able to get to school on time.
“you go get ready for the day, i’ll make sure chris eats.”carla told the 28 year old, giving her a soft smile, and y/n nodded, before rushing off towards her room, and grabbing the clothing she needed for that day.
walking into the bathroom after she had changed, her eyes glanced down, seeing a wedding band that wasn’t hers sitting on the counter.
it was her husband’s.
she felt anger run through her, with a million thoughts racing through her mind. why would he take it off? or why did he leave it at home? did he forget it? did he take it off intentionally before he left for work?
why did he take it off?
“bye n/n!’chris yelled, breaking the girl out of her thoughts, and she gripped the counter, trying to keep her anger under check. “have a good day at school chris!”she yelled back, and the front door slammed, as she took a deep breath in.
it was a few moments before she walked back out towards the kitchen, noticing everything was put away, except for the burnt toast. opening up her refrigerator, y/n grabbed the butter out, and brought it over towards the kitchen table, before spreading the butter against the toast, and taking a bite out of it.
her eyes scanned back over the mountains as the clock struck 7:30 am, realizing her husband was over three hours late coming home, and had missed seeing his son in the morning for the second time that week.
it killed her. it absolutely killed her that he wasn’t coming home, and she was the one who was carrying all of that weight on her shoulders, trying to keep this marriage going when it was all one sided. she felt like a glass plate, and was breaking into a million pieces.
hearing boots come towards her, her head snapped towards it, seeing her husband eddie diaz walking towards her, before placing a kiss on the top of her head, with no words spoken between the two.  the tension in the air made her uncomfortable. it was so thick that you could almost cut it through it with a knife.
it was a while before any words were spoken between the two, and when they were, they were laced with anger and confusion.
“you left your ring at home.”y/n spoke up, taking another bite of the burnt toast, afraid to see the look her husband was giving her, “and you were late coming home again.”
“i forgot it when i left.”eddie admitted, glancing over at his wife for a moment, before looking back at his plate of food, “and i was finishing up something with buck.”
wrong. he wasn’t with buck, because buck had texted y/n back at five, saying he hadn’t seen eddie since he left his shift at 4am.
“what? you don’t believe me?”eddie questioned, as y/n got up to throw the toast away, keeping silent for a moment, debating on how to handle the situation, before she shook her head no.
“i don’t believe you.”y/n admitted, placing the plate in the sink, avoiding eye contact with him, and she could feel the anger radiating off of him, “because buck texted me at five that he hadn’t seen you since you left your shift at four.”
she saw eddie freeze, knowing he had gotten caught into a lie, and y/n had seen right through it. he wouldn’t be able to hide whatever he was away for.
“okay fine, i wasn’t with buck.”eddie admitted, causing y/n to lean up against the kitchen counter, facing her husband to read his body language.
“so, where were you?”
“i don’t understand why you need to know.”eddie shrugged, getting defensive, causing y/n to read all the red flag, “it doesn’t matter to you at all.”
“it does matter to me eddie.”y/n spoke softly, fearing of an argument breaking out, but it was enviable with the two. “i want to make sure you’re not sitting in the goddamn morgue.”
“well guess what, i’m not.”eddie spewed, catching y/n off guard, “i’m standing right in front of you, trying to eat breakfast while you’re bothering me.”
“because i want for you to realize that i’m worried about you.”she told him, and she could tell he was dismissive, “i wait up for you every night, only for you to not come home until chris is about to leave for school.”
“and i never asked you to do that.”he stabbed his eggs with his fork, and y/n tensed up, “that’s your own doing for staying up and waiting.” y/n gave him a look as she took his words like gut punches, making her absolutely sick, “maybe you should just stop staying up and waiting.”
“maybe you should come home on time.”y/n shot back, folding her arms as she watched him closely, “to the family you have. to your son.”
“i do!”eddie defended, and y/n shook her head, “no you don’t! for the past four months you’ve been late coming home after every single shift eddie!”
“you’re forgetting your ring, you’re not coming home on time and you’re distant.”y/n pointed out as eddie brushed past her to put his plate in the sink, and walked towards their shared bathroom, slipping his wedding band on, “there! are you happy now?”
“no i’m not!”y/n exclaimed as eddie started to change, and she followed him, “we’ve been in and out of therapy for the past three years and absolutely nothing has changed eddie. i’m so tired of it.”
“i mentally cannot handle another year of us being just fine.”y/n whispered, causing eddie to snap his head towards her, with a shocked look spread across his face, “what are you trying to say?”
“i want a divorce.”y/n spoke aloud, making all of her feelings real, and she saw eddie’s face fall.
“you want a divorce? all because i’m taking extra shifts to try and provide for our family? to pay for the mortgage for the house you insisted we had to have.”he shot back, and y/n felt her anger bubble over, causing her to snap, “you don’t even pay for the house! i do! it’s under my name and everything! not yours!”
“i’m the one who pays for the cleaners, the groceries, the electric!”she yelled, as the two stood in their bedroom, one that hadn’t felt like theirs in months. “i feel like i’m the only one who’s doing all the work all the time because you’re never home!”
“you loved me way more at 23 than you do now eddie, and that's a fact.”she told him as she brushed past him to pack a bag, “i cannot keep doing this anymore.”
“you’re just like your parents. giving up way too easy on our marriage.” eddie swore, and y/n felt something snap inside of her. “first off, don’t you dare talk about my parents! secondly, i have tried for months to get through to you.”
“you’re the one who never came to nashville when i called you begging to hop on that flight, one i paid for by the way!”y/n exclaimed, zipping up the bag she had packed, “i knew you had the week off and didn’t have chris at all and you still refused to come.”
“i’m done trying eddie.”she finished, before storming past him and walking towards the front door of their penthouse.
“so you’re done?”he questioned as she grabbed her car keys, and opened up the front door, staring right back at him with tears in her e/c eyes.
“this is when it’s over for me.”

You Lied
Tumblr media
gif is not mine
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x reader
Warnings!: crying, angst, yelling, fighting, mentions of cheating, mentions of Beth, all angst, no happy ending
Prompt: Angst #42 "You Lied"
---------------
You sat on your couch, sipping your wine, trying not to let the tears slip down your face. You were heartbroken. And angry. How could he? How could he make you fall in love with him, and then do this to you.
You sat there remembering your whole relationship.
The day you walked into the BAU and shook his hand as he welcomed you to the team, the instant spark that formed and only grew from that day on.
The day he first kissed you after you had gotten shot on a case. You were sitting in your hospital bed and he came rushing through. He didn't say anything as he marched across the room and brought into a soft and gentle kiss. That had began your beautiful relationship.
When he introduced you to Jack. Jack had taken an instant liking to you and you began spending more and more time at the Hotchner household. You even had spare clothes in Hotch's room, you had spent so many nights there.
The first time he said he loved you. It was after a hard case. A really hard case. There were kids involved and it just hadn't ended well. But he snuck into your hotel room that night and curled up in bed with you. He just whispered the words out.
"I love you." It had taken you completely by surprise. But of course you had said it back. And he stayed in your arms for the rest of the night. That was the same night you had thought you had found the one. The guy you would be with forever.
You remembered the day you told the team about your relationship. Rossi had already figured it out and you had already told Morgan. He was your best friend and it had slipped out one night. But the whole team was happy for you both. And they were so happy to see Hotch happy.
The day he asked you to move in. He looked so nervous. You had said yes before he could even get the words out of his mouth. And he had given you a beaming smile. You had all gone out to dinner that night to celebrate.
The one moment engraved in your mind though was the day he had proposed. He had taken you and Jack to a fancy restaurant, telling you to dress your best. You had eaten your meal and then he had gotten down on one knee, Jack resting on his knee as he asked you to marry him. You were overjoyed and had tears running down your face as you kissed the man you loved and the little boy who had become like your own.
And then the day you got married. The most wonderful day of your life. Rossi had walked you down the aisle towards him. He had looked so bueatiful. He had tears in his eyes, but so did you. You had a written your own vows, promising to love each other forever.
Turns out forever was cut a little short.
If only it could've lasted. If only he hadn't lied.
Suddenly the door opened, bringing you out of your thoughts. He dropped his keys on the table, set his bag down and walked into the living room. The sight before him shocked him. You were sitting there, crying. Boxes littered around the living room.
"W-whats going on? Whats wrong y/n." You hiccuped as you tried to calm your breathing. When you could finally speak the words you said made Hotch freeze.
"Beth stopped by today." He looked at you wide eyed.
"S-she did?" He stuttered out.
"Apparently you never called to tell her you left for a case and couldn't make your date." You grumbled out, gulping down the rest of your wine.
"Y-y/n I can, I can explain." You scoffed.
"I'm sure you've got a great explanation for this. Why your ex girlfriend, showed up at your door, asking about your date." He sighed, tears filled his eyes.
"Please, y/n I-" you cut him off. You were slightly tipsy, and stood up wobbly.
"You lied!" You shouted.
"What?" He looked into your eyes.
"You said that you loved me. But you lied!"
"I do love you!"
"No you don't. If you loved me, you never would have done this to me!" You paused, gasping for breath through your tears. "Why?!" He took a moment before responding.
"Y/n, I don't know why I did it. I just-"
"Was I not enough?" You didn't even let him answer before continuing "I thought I was. I really thought I was enough for you Aaron."
"You are enough y/n. You are. I love you." He cried out desperately.
"No you don't. Stop lying. You've done enough of that." He bowed his head, sobbing. "You told me when we got together, that the two of you were done with your relationship. You told me that I was the woman you loved. You told me when we moved in together, when we got married. But it was all a lie because I wasn't enough."
"I'm s-sorry." You shook your head.
"Is it the age gap? Is it because I don't want more kids? Is it because we work together? Were 3 years of marriage too much for you? Were you tired of me?" You shouted at him.
"No!" He shouted right back. "Y/n I love you. There is no reason or excuse for what I did. Truth is that I dont even know why I did it. But I know that I love you. Your my wife. The love of my life." You scoffed again.
"Not anymore I'm not." His head shot up.
"What? Y-you want a-?" He could bear to say the word. That word meant he would lose you.
"I don't know yet, I've packed up some of my stuff, and I'll be back for it later. I cant say here though. Maybe after awhile, we can talk. But I cant even look at you right now." He shook his head.
"Y/n no, you can't leave."
"I can do whatever I damn well please. You are in no position to tell me what I can and can not do."
"What about Jack? What am I going to tell him?"
"Dont you dare try and guilt me like that! I love that boy like he is my own son. But you were the one that messed this up! This is your fault!" You needed to get out of there before you broke down all over again. You grabbed your bag and marched to the door.
"Wait, don't leave, please." He begged. You almost didn't go. If he had walked over to you and kissed you or if he told you he loved you one more time, you probably would have stayed. But he didn't do anything and he had made his choice.
"Goodbye Aaron." And you slammed the door behind you.
Hotch collapsed to the floor in tears. Why did he do it? Was it really worth it? No, he thought, no it wasn't.

Why you break up with the haikyu boys part 2 (Osamu, Iwaizumi, Daichi, Ushijima.)

Part 1 (Atsumu, Oikawa, Kageyama, Kenma, Akaashi, Sugawara)
Genre: angst

Osamu: “For fuck sake Y/N, don’t deny it I know that you...”
You and Osamu were basically arranged to be together, you were best friends from when you were little and your parents thought you were a match made in heaven.
Did you love Osamu? Of course, you pretty much worshipped the ground he walked on.
But there was always a strange look he gave you whenever he mentioned his brother. You never really focused on it, but that was something you took note of.
When you came back home, after a long day of work. You see Osamu sitting in the kitchen alone, with some paper in front of him and a drink in his hand.
“‘Samu Babe!” You exclaim sauntering over to him “How are yo-“
“Don’t.” He said simply, taking a sipping some of his drink (to which you could only assume was some form of hard liquor.)
“Why ‘Samu, what’s wro-“
“You bought tickets to his game.”
“Who’s game?”
“Don’t play dumb with me Y/N, you bought tickets to my idiot of a brothers game in an attempt to slut around under my nose..”
“Samu, that’s not what it was I-“
“I don’t want to hear it Y/N!” He yelled slamming his drink down making you flinch.
“Gosh Samu whats wrong with you. I know that I had a teeny crush on Atsumu when we were kids but it was just a childhood crush. An innocent childhood crush.”
“For fuck sake Y/N, don’t deny it I know yo-“
“You know what? That I’ve spent majority of my life, trying to ease your own insecurities and jealousy of your own goddamn brother. How childish can you be Osamu ?”
Osamu eyes opened a bit in realisation, and his lips slightly parted. “But Y/N, you-“
“I what? Brought us tickets to your TWIN brothers final volleyball game, because I wanted him to see the support from his family and friends.”
“I’m sorry Y/N I really a-“
“Don’t.” you say picking up the tickets and turning around “I just thought maybe, just maybe for at least a day you could put your weird feelings towards your brother aside... but I guess you can’t.”
You left the apartment, and got your stuff another day (one where you knew Osamu was at work.)
No you did not end up dating Atsumu, you were most certainly friends and only friends. You did end up going to the game on your own, to cheer on Atsumu who most definitely appreciated it.
You thought you saw a certain Miya twins sitting in the stands at of the game, hiding his face with a baseball cap. Which made you smile a bit...
Well at least he ended up coming to the game.

Iwaizumi: “I just don’t want you Y/N, I never did”
In your second year of Seijoh Highschool, you were approached by a rough looking boy who had a ‘resting bitch face,’ and looked like they were coming to pick a fight with you.
But no, it was just “Iwaizumi Hajime.”
He was very popular throughout your school, as he was vice captain of the schools volleyball team and he was Oikawa Toorus best friend.
So when he approached you that Friday afternoon at your locker, you definitely didn’t know why.
“Y/N..” he said nervously scratching the back of his neck “umm this is for you..”
In his hands was a bar of chocolate and a scrunched up note that read
Tumblr media
AN: DID I WRITE THAT NOTE MYSELF, yes yes I did anyways...
You were very surprised at this sudden confession as you and Iwaizumi weren’t in the same social circles and you were definitely not the type of girl that would be on his ‘radar.’
You had a quite unsettling feeling, which made you subconsciously squint your eyes at him. But they soon soften as you saw the nervousness that Iwaizumi was showcasing to you as you were contemplating on you answer.
You got out a pen, shaking the unsettling feeling you had out of your head. And ticked the box “Yes” giving it back to Iwaizumi.
He smiled widely and rushed towards you in an attempts in giving you a hug which went awkwardly wrong leaving you both laughing.
Dating Hajime, wasn’t bad nor good... it’s just what you wouldn’t expect it to be.
There wasn’t much of a change to what your usual school routine was which consisted of: going to lessons and spending break and lunch on your own reading a book.
And technically you were still doing that, but you were now just always with Hajime. Wether it was at lunch or at practice (which he always insisted you go to, also hinting that he would like for you to bring him bentos to practice.) which you did end up doing.
One day, whilst doing your daily “bento delivery,” to your boyfriend, you overhear him talking to his friends; Matsukawa and Hanamaki.
“God I can’t stand her, always running behind me like a lost puppy giving me bentos that I didn’t even fucking as for” he complained, making you gasp.
“Really?” Exclaimed Hanamaki “I know you said she confessed to you one time, but I didn’t know it was that bad?”
“Yeah she’s a stalking bitch, it’s getting annoying.”
“Gosh it’s seems someones getting a taste of the ‘Oikawa Experience’” Matsun said making them all laugh.
You entered the room, furious. “What the fuck Hajime?”
“Woah woah woah, it’s seems your stalkers about iwa, we’ll leave you too it” said Hanamaki, with Matsun following behind him as they leave.
“What do they mean I’m a stalker?”
“Well aren’t you?” He responded with a smirk
“Gosh y/n you’ve been following me about for a while now, dont you think it’s time to stop”
“Bu-But you confessed, with your note and w-“
“Are you sure about that Y/N, cause I don’t really recall ...?”
“Hajime don’t lie, we were dating.. we ARE DATING.”
“Okay Y/N let me fill you in on a little secret,” he said leaning down next to your ear “I don’t want you Y/N, I never did.”
“ but why m-“
“Why you? Because nobody knows Y/N L/N and nobody cares, I can tarnish your name and nobody will give a shit.. and that’s why your an easy target” he said still smiling “ I just wanted to rub it into Shittykawas face that I had my own little “fan club”
You were stunned, frozen in shock as Iwaizumi walks past you to leave the gym, making sure to grab the bento you made him.
“Thanks again for the help, I’m definitely going to miss these bentos!”
You should have listened to your gut feeling from before.
Tumblr media
Daichi: “you’re just not marriage material”
Daichi was “the perfect guy,” he was nice to strangers and was helpful to the community and just an all round great guy.
So it was a massive question as to why he went for you, since you were definitely not the girl for Daichi.
“I don’t care what anyone says, your the perfect girl for me” was what he always said.
Even though those statements went out the window whenever his mother got involved.
Daichi’s mum was a strict traditional woman, who believed in family values that went back thousands of years ago.
And she most certainly didn’t like you.
She wanted you to be Daichi’s doting wife, who cooked and cleaned for him. Whilst he works and was the breadwinner of the house.
Although you found no problem with the women that did do this, but this was not for you.
When it comes to meet ups with you, Daichi and his mother. He never told her to stop when it came to the rude comments she made about you, or the times she suggested Daichi go for a more “prim and proper” girl named “Misaki Ayuzawa.”
After the meetings, when his mother was gone, he always tried to reassure that she was wrong and her words didn’t matter.
But you knew they did, that daichi was actually considering some of the things she said about you wether they were true or not.
The tension in your household was strong, since you barely talked to each other anymore. But you had hope for better things...
Until one day, you get a message from Daichi’s mother saying. “It seems Daichi made the right choice, as we all know ‘Mother Knows best.’” With a video attached of Daichi proposing to the one and only “Mikasa Ayuzawa” surrounded by all their high class business friends.
When Daichi got home he yelled, “Y/N, where are you I was at this business party at this fancy restaurant and I got some nice things for you to try!”
“Business party?” You say rolling your eyes “Or Engagement party.”
The shocked look on his face made you smile, as you both knew now that he was caught.
“Fuck you daichi! Why would you do this without even tell me !” You yelled, tearing up a bit.
“Y/N, it wasn’t meant to go down like that it was just I was talking to my mu-“
“Fuck your mum! And you!”
“I’m sorry Y/N you’re just not marriage material an-“
“I don’t care what you’ve got to say, you’ve done it and it’s over with”you said leaving.
“I’ll come back to get my stuff later,” you say “oh and congratulations on the engagement Sawamura-San”
After you said that, Daichi’s heart broke.
He did end up marrying her, and he regretted every day of it. Since she was great and all, but she just wasn’t you...
But he knows now you’re long gone, definitely not going to forgive him for marrying another girl whilst being with him.

Ushijima : stop being so emotional
You and Ushijima were very much opposite In every aspect, and at first it wasn’t really a problem.
Especially since you always excused it as “opposite attracts.”
But recently all you and Ushijima do is argue, left and right always arguing.
You complained about Ushijimas lack of emotion when it came to you, you don’t think he cared about you or about anything.
Whenever you brought up something that was wrong he would reply with “Y/N this is something you need to be acting all upset about.”
And that would definitely upset you even more, you just wanted him to notice you or shout “Y/N I care about you and I love you.”
But Of course he didn’t.
One night he came back late (again) after promising to be home early to have a meal together.
“What’s taken you so long Ushi?” You asked
“I was at practice. I told you this.” He said simply, remaining as stoic as ever.
“But you said- you promised that we can have dinner together.” You said
“ oh well I’m sorry. We can have dinner now if you like.”
“I’m not hungry anymore” you mumbled past him, going to your bedroom.
“Y/N, what’s your problem” he said following after you.
“It’s nothing...”you said tears filling your eyes.
“Okay I’m going to go eat now.” He said leaving you alone in the room going to the kitchen, making you sigh.
After you calm yourself and collect your faults, you go into the kitchen where Ushijima is at the table eating.
“Ushijima, we need to talk.” You said taking a deep breath.
“Okay.”
“We should break up.”
“Okay.”
“Is that all you have to say?” You say tearing up again.
“Yes, I’ve been thinking that for a while now.” He said bluntly “since Y/N, you’re just too emotional.”
“Oh I see.” You say now full on crying.
Ushijima looks up to see you all teared-eye, and he is kind of suprised because ‘why were you upset.’ He got up and tried to console you, but you flinched away and said “Don’t, just don’t Ushijima.”
“I’m sorry Y/N...”
“Why are you sorry? Do you even know what you’re apologising for?”
“No.”
“Well then, just seems to prove my point further...” you go to leave before saying “thanks for the wonderful time... I guess we just weren’t meant to be.”
Tumblr media
AN: can someone appreciate what I did with Iwaizumis....no? Okay 😃 I feel this one way way more angsty then part one but oh well. What did you think.

hurts so good | eight
summary: growing up with Park Jinyoung was never easy and things are about to get worse when you’ve been asked to marry him
one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten | eleven | twelve - final |
You barely slept last night knowing where Jinyoung was. He didn’t come home after leaving the bar with Jisoo and you didn’t see him at breakfast this morning.
You buried your hands in your face as you gently massaged your eyes to reduce the swelling. You don’t know how much longer you can take this anymore.
It was killing you.
“Y/N,” you hear someone call you. You looked up from your hands and see Chaewon. You immediately flashed her a smile.
“Chaewon, what’s up? Please sit,” you offered. She smiled back and takes a seat on the couch. “Is everything okay?”
“You tell me,” she sighed rubbing her belly.
“What do you mean?” you asked, taking a seat next to her.
“We’re friends, right?” she stuttered.
“What? Of course, we are!” you exclaimed. “Why would you ask that?”
“Then why?” Chaewon asked as her eyes started to water. “Why, my husband? Why does it have to be Jaebum?”
“I’m not understanding...”
“You can pick anyone, why does it have to be Jaebum? I’m pregnant...” she questioned while rubbing her belly.
“W-wait. I think there’s a misunderstanding. We were only pretending to piss Jinyoung off,” you explained.
“No,” she quickly dismissed. “You were pretending. Jaebum wasn’t and you knew that. You know how he feels about you,” she began to whimper. “You could pretend with anyone and it would piss Jinyoung off. Why did it have to be him, his brother?”
“I’m so sorry,” you apologized. “I knew it would hurt even more if it was with Jaebum. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“Why can’t you be happy with what you have?” she accused.
You looked at her confused. “Happy? What part of my marriage is happy?” you argued with her.
“So you had to ruin mine because you’re unhappy?” she continued to accuse.
“I didn’t ruin your marriage nor do I intend to,” you assured her. “Jaebum’s always been like a brother to me.”
“I saw you with him in the wine cellar. I heard what you said to Jinyoung.”
“It’s not like that. Nothing happened,” you tried to explain. “Our relationship is different. We’ve known each other since we were kids.”
“So what? My relationship with him isn’t as strong as yours?”
You could tell she was panicking. You knew how much she cared about her marriage - it was her lifeline.
“No, no. That’s not what I’m saying-”
“That’s what you implied,” she interrupted. Your head was pounding from the lack of sleep and you were saying all the wrong words.
“Okay, okay. Calm down,” you tell her. “I’m sorry.”
“Please Y/N. I’m begging you,” she said getting on her knees. “Jaebum means everything to me. I can’t have a broken marriage,” she whimpered.
“Oh my god. Please get up,” you said trying to help her to her feet. “Jaebum and I will always be friends. I promise,” you assured her.
“Promise?” she asked again with her eyes all red. You nodded assuring her once again. She finally gets up on her knees. “Ow...my stomach,” she complains.
“Chaewon?” you called. “Are you okay?” She shakes her head as she clutches onto her stomach. “Here, sit down.”
“Something’s wrong,” she continues to complain. “I need to go to the hospital,” she whines in pain, her face turning white. You quickly grabbed your phone to call the ambulance.
You paced back and forth outside the operation room. Chaewon was rushed into surgery right when she got to the hospital. You immediately called Jaebum and then Jinyoung.
“Y/N!” Jaebum calls running towards you.
“Oh my god, Jae...” you sobbed once you saw him. “I’m so sorry. This is all my fault,” you whimpered.
“What happened?” he asked, calmly. You continued to cry, unable to speak. “Y/N, what happened?” he asked again, holding onto your face to look at him.
“She knows about us,” you confessed. “She heard me talking to Jinyoung and she thinks something happened between us.”
Jaebum lets out a sigh, rubbing your arm up and down to calm you down. “It’s not your fault.”
“It is...” you continued to cry. “Oh god, what if something happens to her? To the baby? I’ll never forgive myself,” you whimpered. Jaebum pulls you in for a hug.
“Nothing will happen. Don’t worry,” he assures you.
“Let go of my wife.”
The both of you turned around to see Jinyoung. “Jinyoung,” you cried out, eyes watery, nose runny.
“Hey baby it’s okay,” Jinyoung comforted, pulling you into his arms. The three of you waited patiently outside. Jaebum was trying to remain calm but you knew he was just as scared as you were.
“Mr. Im,” the doctor greeted, walking out of the operation room. The three of you rushed over. “I told you your wife’s pregnancy was unstable and that she shouldn’t be stressed out. After the last visit to the hospital, I warned you to watch her carefully. I’m so sorry. We did everything we could but we couldn’t save the baby.”
Your heart sinks to your stomach. You did this. This was all your fault.
“I shouldn’t go inside,” you tell Jaebum.
“Don’t be ridiculous. It’s not your fault,” he tries to convince. “She needs us to be with her right now. Come on.”
“He’s right. Let’s go in,” Jinyoung says, pushing you inside the room. You kept your head down as you walked into Chaewon’s room. Her eyes and nose were bright red and her lips were pale. You felt guilty seeing her like this. You did this to her and Jaebum and nothing you say was going to change that.
“What is she doing here?” Chaewon yells once she sees you. “You did this to me,” she blamed.
“I’m so sorry,” you sobbed.
“It’s not her fault,” Jaebum defends. “Your pregnancy was unstable to begin with,” he continues to explain.
“Stop!” she screams. “Stop defending her! I’m the one who lost the baby,” she continues to yell. Chaewon grabs one of the pillows and throws it at your face.
“We understand you’re upset but don’t take it out on Y/N,” Jinyoung defends while checking to see if you were injured.
“Do you know what she did with your brother?” she accuses. “She’s fooling around with him and you are still defending her! She did this to me!”
"Enough!”
The four of you turned around and see your father-in-law. You gulped, afraid he had heard your conversation.
"How dare you disgrace me?” he spats at you. You kept your head down, knowing he was talking to you. He stops in front of you. “Look at me,” he demanded. You lift your head up to look at him. Your eyes immediately meet his. He was angry. He lifts his hand and slaps you across the face.
“Father!” Jaebum and Jinyoung shouts rushing to your side. You held onto your cheek rubbing it gently to relieve the pain. Jinyoung pulls you towards him before Jaebum gets a chance to. He turns your face to one side to check on your cheek.
“Are you out of your mind?” your father-in-law ask. “I don’t care how unhappy you are but you do not jeopardize our family name for your own gains, you hear me?”
“Father it’s not like that,” Jaebum tries to explain.
You hear Chaewon scoff, “Stop defending her, Jae. I’m your wife.”
“Nothing happened between them, Father. It was a misunderstanding,” Jinyoung continued to explain.
“S-stop,” you sobbed. “Stop defending me,” you said turning to Jaebum and Jinyoung. “It’s my fault. Let them blame me. I’m the reason this happened.”
“Don’t think that saying that will make everything better, make me forgive you. I will never forgive you,” Chaewon glares at you.
“Get out of my sight,” your father-in-law said. You nodded slowly before leaving with Jinyoung.

Step four
CW: Congratulations reader-chan! You’re expecting! Illumi also really cranks up the yandere side, nothing too bad, but he’s definitely not proving to be a stable man in this part.
Previous part: here
First part: here
Illumi found his mother in the family library, doing some research for a job she'd gotten.        "Mother, sorry for interrupting, but I have a rather pressing dilemma with my relationship." He said, and he could see the woman perk up slightly, but she only hummed and stayed focused on her research,       "Sorry dear, I can't help right now, maybe try Gotoh." She spoke casually, but he could see in her body language that she was dying to hear about her eldest son's relationship.       "I was wondering if it would be inappropriate to bring her here so soon." he added, and like that her research was forgotten and she was instead offering him a seat beside her. So, he sat in the intricately carved wooden chair and filled her in on his dilemma with the concerns for your safety after finding out Hisoka knew your name, and the concern of pushing you away unnecessarily. "I don't want to put her in danger, but my research on dating says that bringing her here is something to do later on, when we've been together for more than a month." he explained, his mother digesting the information before speaking,                "This is a rather delicate situation...but since Morrow is here, it should be safe to leave her where she is. Maybe set some butlers as constant bodyguards, but hold off on bringing her around here. At least until I can prepare! Oh I'd have to get the chefs to cook a special meal for when your father and I finally meet your partner, and the mansion will have to be meticulously cleaned, and the gardens tended to!" Illumi sighed as his mother rambled on a tangent about how this sort of conflict was always so romantic in the novels she'd read and how she'd have to make sure the family was perfect so as to leave the best possible impression on you.        "Mother, I am being serious. I have worked with Hisoka before, he's a dangerously clever man. I don't want to risk him harming my future spouse," he reminded the woman, who savored her excitement for a moment longer before regaining her composure,         "I'm sorry dear, I just get so happy when I think about my sweet baby boy finally settling down," she said somewhat wistfully, and the assassin inwardly groaned. He was the eldest of at least five, he was far from her baby anymore, but he couldn’t really remind her of that without sending her into a sobbing fit. "anyway!" she chirped, drawing him back from his blank staring and practiced way of spacing out when she took advantage of the fact she was the only Zoldyck allowed to be mushy like this, "I really do think you should leave her where she is, at least for a bit longer. Once she comes to this mountain she won't be able to leave easily, and I'd hate for your future wife to turn out to be some spy or desperate journalist." While she said it in honesty, her voice lacked any real remorse. If you did turn out to be a threat, even Kikyo wouldn't hesitate to squash you like a bug. I think out of everyone to have after (y/n), mother would be the worst. Illumi thought as he pondered his mother's words, agreeing to keep you at your home for the time being. So, for the next few weeks Illumi alternated between jobs and returning to stalking you, but until he could rein in the possessive urge to kidnap you, he kept his distance. When he couldn't watch you himself, like when he was torturing Hisoka for adding extra steps to that job, he made sure someone was still there to ensure nothing bad happened to you. Another bonus of this set up he found was that the servants he had hidden nearby to watch you were able to warn him when you started acting odd. They couldn't exactly place why you were suddenly so anxious and slightly distraught though, so the ebony-haired assassin decided to finish the job he was on quickly when he found out and return to his secondary home. About a day after he'd returned, in the late afternoon, you knocked at his door, as he was expecting.         "Hello," he hummed as he opened the door to find you standing in the slightly chilly daylight fidgeting anxiously,         "Um...I think we need to talk." You said, your words shooting an arrow of anxiety into his heart, Is she going to break up with me? Should I have brought her home sooner?  Should I just grab her now? he asked himself, his dark, empty eyes scanning over your form to glean any information he could from your body language while he wrangled in his moment of panic, No. Invite her in, if she really is about to break up with you she'd be easier to subdue where no one can be a witness. he told himself, temporarily quelling the urge to snatch you up and refuse to let you go again and instead inviting you inside to talk out of the cool late spring air. Once inside you sat on his couch, too preoccupied with your own thoughts to mind the bit of mess in the room that Illumi was swift to sweep under the couch or toss out of sight. Your tense mood drove Illumi crazy, but he skillfully hid the fact that he was growing impatient with waiting and beginning to plan out a way to sedate you and take you home, keeping his focus on the dirty clothes he was throwing behind the chair and the garbage he was shoving into his pockets. simply sitting beside you after a while, awaiting whatever bad news you might have for him. Is she really going to try and break up with me? Damn it, I should've never let my mother talk me into this whole 'dating' thing. He thought bitterly, his own sliver of anxiety adding to the tense, heavy air you had already created. However, after an excruciatingly long stretch of time, you took a deep breath,        "Illumi, I t-think I'm...pregnant." you forced out, not looking at the dead-eyed assassin as the two of you fell into another stretch of silence while Illumi processed this news. Pregnant? We've only had sex twice, is she really that fertile? He pondered, an honest smile spreading across his usually expressionless face after it set in. In a flash, he'd jumped up and scooped you up, hugging your possibly smaller body to his tightly, making you squeal,         "this is wonderful news!" he said, making you smile and turn a light pink,             "Oh, well if I'd known you'd be so happy about it, I wouldn't have stressed so much," you laughed awkwardly, letting Illumi hug you for a moment longer before he put you down again and cleared his throat, his face returning to his bland expression,          "Though, this does put a rush on putting together a wedding." he hummed, not noticing the way your eyes widened          "uh? w-wedding?" you squeaked, drawing his attention out of his thoughts and back to you. Your panicky expression was rather cute to him, you were so innocent,          "Well yes, I was originally planning to take things slow, but now I can't afford to wait. Not to worry though, I'm sure my mother will help you plan it," he assured, but judging by the increasing panic in your (e/c) eyes, it didn't work, "is something wrong, (y/n)?"          "I-I don't want to marry you?" You squeaked, and while your words did sting, he knew this might happen,          "Well, I can't let you parent this child without me, and marriage is the perfect way to ensure I stay involved as well as that you and our child are safe from harm." He explained, but you shook your head,          "Illumi, no! It's only been a-a few months since we've started dating, it's far too soon to marry!" you tried to explain, but he waved your arguments away,          "dating is already a redundancy, I've been very patient in waiting this long before moving on to marriage," he explained, getting a bit annoyed at your horrified look. It was intriguing to see you get flustered and slightly scared, but marriage was not something that deserved this sort of reaction. He sighed, I can't let this continue, the stress is not good for the baby, he reminded himself before speaking again, "Please explain to me why you are so against getting married. I don't think I'm understanding your points clearly enough." For a moment, you struggled to find words, obviously confused and shocked, but he made sure to be patient,        "I-Illumi, it's too soon for marriage, that's something for later on down the road, i-if we even make it that far." You tried to explain, but the assassin grimaced, so you spoke again "Plus, it's perfectly fine if we don't get married before the baby's born, we can still parent them together," Your words made his expression darken further. Finally, you sighed dejectedly, "or...I could always just termi-" Illumi cut you off by grabbing you by your shoulders, his grip tight, nearly painfully so he was sure, but he was not about to allow the entertaining of such ideas,         "You will NOT harm that baby, (y/n)." he said darkly, watching tears well up in your (e/c) eyes from fear and maybe pain. That made him calm down, he had to keep his temper in check before his malicious aura was the one to harm his future wife. "If you try anything to put yourself or our baby in danger, I will be forced to keep you under strict observation." he warned, his voice not holding any room for argument when he spoke, but than he tried to relax, hugging your slightly shaking form to him again.        "It'll be okay, mother will plan a good wedding and you'll be a good mother when the baby's born." he assured, running his hand through your (h/l), (h/c) hair in an attempt to calm you down and show that despite his flash of temper, the excitement of your good news still zapped through his veins. "I'll keep you safe, i promise." He could feel the shiver his words sent through you, but fear was easier to manage than defiance. After a moment though, he let you go again, "I'll have some butlers help you pack your most necessary things, tomorrow I'll take you to the estate." he decided, and when you went to argue again he gave you a cold look, "you can't say anything that will change my mind. The Zoldyck estate is the safest place for you, so go home and pack." he ordered, his tone firm enough for you to get the message. You didn't get a choice.

Vol 1, 2, 3, 4,
What’s going on down there? It sounds restlessly calm. You could hear muffled voices but nothing more; you aren't too keen on testing your luck and sneak into the corridor to eavesdrop on their conversation. Pretty sure the door is locked anyway.
Instead, You took note of the confined walls surrounding you. A typical master bedroom accessorized an earthy decor, cute mini-plants placed in various room areas, two tiny pet turtles in a tank constructed into a giant wooden bookshelf.
Speaking of books, talk about books galore. The shelved books had little to no wiggle room aside from the one empty slot belonging to the open novel on the nightstand. The owner won’t mind you partaking in one quick gander-
“Ah!” You gasp, fixing your eyes on your newly treated ankle. For a minute, you just about forgot this crazy abducted situation your in. The bedsprings dip as you flop back into the spot where Jimin left you. Jimin was the man you fell on during your first attempt at freedom; he was even generous enough to bandage with utmost care.
A kind gesture a particular bunny wasn’t too thrilled on seeing, Jungkook's face soured while watching Jimin’s filthy little womanizing hands caressing the delicate soft plushy skin of his carrot’s legs.
Son of a bitch trying to cop a feel on his wife, Jimin’s flirtatious persona, led him out to be a well-known heartthrob but often seen as a gigolo through certain people's point of view and, frankly, Jungkook's wife won't be a victim of the Jimin Effect.
Crash!
The smash of a glass object-making contact with the hard marble kitchen floor snatched Jimin’s and your attention giving it to the irritable bunny who’s psychotically enthusiastic about testing his progress in strength by snapping his hyung’s neck-
Oh, no, his carrot looks frightened-He shouldn't do such a brutal act of love with his wife nearby; her poor innocent heart might shatter. No violence...At least for the time being.
Next thing you know, Jungkook's face lightened up, and even when Jimin bit his head off for breaking one of Jin’s fancy dinnerware, his facial expression persisted undaunted. Jungkook kept a serene masquerade, but through closer observation, he clenched his jaw at Jimin’s hand on cradling the small of his wife’s back, guiding her into hiding in the upper part of the house for a reason unknown.
Jungkook let Jimin take you no-fuss included, Hence, Your encaged situation. For all, you know, The men were downstairs plotting a far-flung strategy to murder you making it look like a battle of defense.
Though, You were more occupied by another Crack for the floor down below. ” Ahh!” You cried out, falling back on the bed once again.
Meanwhile, Downstairs.
”Stop! Breaking Hyung’s plates, or we're both as good as dead!” Jimin growled. ”Quit avoiding the question! Who the hell is that woman!? Did you hurt her!? Why-!” Jimin asked Jungkook until his cheeks burned a reddish hue, and his neck veins were dominant.
In one swift breath, Jungkook responded. “ She’s Mrs.Jeon. My wife.”
Jimin knew his maknae had a few loose screws in his head, but this is getting out of hand.
”Wife?! Do you know how old you are!? Kook, You just turn twenty-three-”
”So What.” Jungkook interrupted. ”You want me to wait until I’m an ancient fart like Hyung to get married.”
”Pffft.” Jimin pressed his lips into a thin line suppressing his need to laugh. ”Ahem, respect your elders-You little brat.”
Amidst the brothers at each other's throats, another member of the maknae line awakened from his mid-morning nap; drowsy eyed Kim Taehyung waddled upstairs to check up on his Hyung living in the room above him.
He could have sworn a faint scream is what he heard-Well; there's no harm in checking.
You jumped at the squeaky hinges of the door opening. Wait, it was unlocked!? Expecting the uninvited visitor to be Jungkook, You raised a pillow over your head, ready to be hurled-to your amazement; it was a completely different man.
A long-haired male with long chocolate locks kept at bay by a beige headband; his attire was disarray. His tank top hung off his shoulder, slightly creased in his pajama pant’s waistband.
Adorable, to say the least, the poor thing’s eyes weren’t even fully open yet, the pretty pink pout of his lips nearly forced an” Aw” from yours.
”Who are you?” He grumbled, scratching the back of his neck.
Sweet mother of deep, He stood a few feet away, but the raspiness and depth of his voice caused your insides to start quivering.
”I’m-I’m the sand fairy.” You choked out, fluttering the tips of your fingers as if spreading magic dust. ” I'm here to ensure all your dreams are sweet. ”
You nibbled your lip nervously, hoping he takes the bait. He yawned in response dragging his exhausted body across the room to you; he halts. You gulped, staring up at him; you felt like a mouse about to pounce on by a tiger.
”H-H-I!” You yelped.
The man took no real investment in your fib; instead, he decided to reap the benefits of how soft and plushy you are by laying his head on your bare thighs. He wiggled in place to reach maximum comfort.
”Ah.” He moaned, falling back to sleep.
Oh, dear.
………
The sound of the hyung’s arrival made the two maknae gulp.
First in the door was Hoseok, hands full grocery bags ” Come help! Quick, save the ice cream if it isn't soup by now.”
Namjoon followed behind. ” I told Jin not to get the ice cream first-He knows how he gets with his coupons.”
”The worst part is he got upset when we told him that's enough food then told to stay in the car.” Yoongi stretched out the pins and needles feeling in his limbs.
”You may say that's enough now, but when that brat comes, he's going to eat us out of house and home!” Jin scolded, unconsciously fetching the rest of the bags.
Jin froze, staring at Jungkook, helping put the food in the correct places. He didn't hesitate to smother his baby boy in a hug, but right after, he jabbed Jungkook's gut.
”Oof!” Jungkook doubled over, gripping his chest. ” I missed you too,” He coughed.
Jin stood tall. ” And there's plenty more where that came from once Hoseok gets his hands on you.”
Anyone but Hoseok.
” I heard Jk!” Hoseok rushed Jungkook a bear hug. ” Thank goodness you're alright!” He jabbed in his Jungkook's gut. ” Where the hell have you been?!”
Jungkook groaned. ” Ou-Ouch..I won't be able to tell you if I keep getting hit.” He cleared his throat. ”America.”
”America!” The hyungs blared out.
Namjoon pinched the bridge of his nose. ” What possessed you to go there on your own? Have you forgotten what you are?”
Jungkook sighed. “ I know, I know, but I just envy normal people around my age having the freedom to go wherever they want.”
“ But you’re not," Yoongi brutally minced Jungkook’s sob story. He’s not particularly fond of beating around the bush, especially when dealing with his brothers earlier this afternoon. “ Unlike ‘normal’ twenty-year-olds, you are adored by army who would be upset if anything happened to you.”
Jungkook bowed his head in shame; the thought of army never really crossed his mind.
“And-“ Yoongi continued. “ There are crazies in every country, so what made you think heading off on your own would be alright!?”
“Why America?” Namjoon’s brow jumped as the gears in his head began to turn. “ Out of all the beautiful places we visited-You chose the U.S? What was there that you had to leave without an explanation?”
Namjoon stared at Jungkook’s eyes not in a malicious sense, just a habit when trying to figure out a solution or, in this case, a missing clue to the reason his little brother hopped up and left.
“Twinkats (Twinkies),” Jimin laughed nervously. “ I bet his suitcase is full of them.”
Sadly, Jimin’s fairy charm wouldn’t work this time. Jungkook is drowning in deep waters, and there’s no salvage coming for miles; at this rate, Jungkook had two options: tell the truth, orrrr, run away with his loving wife in his arms.
Not gonna lie; Jungkook leaned towards the second option, but the fates had another plan.
”Hyung! Hyung! Namjoon-Hyungie!!” Taehyung screamed bloody murder, sprinting downstairs minus jumping the last five steps. ” Her ankle is purple!”
Taehyung paused, breathing heavily in front of the kitchen where the interrogation is being held, accompanied by a woman injured cradled in his arms, more worried about him dropping than her throbbing ankle.
Taehyung had the room’s undivided attention, and Jungkook’s enviousness scowl; his wife was clinging on to another man like a baby koala to its mother but had it been him, she would scratch his eyes out.
Let's not mention the fact! It seems like she's only wearing a shirt, and guess who the owner is, not him!
” Who-”
”What-”
”Why”
” How!?”
Before getting into details about the hyung's reaction to their new houseguest, let's first take a detour to Prince Taehyung mini rescue adventure.
A good hour in, Taehyung woke up from the best nap of his life to beautiful damsel sniffles and tears. The sweetheart asked what was wrong and nodded as the damsel explained, coming to realize she was in distress. Prince Taehyung aided the beauty with new clothes and tied a red ribbon into her hair….beacause he thought it would look pretty (Shrugs).
However, her ankle injury required a different source of help, so who else to ask but his favorite Hyung? But he couldn't find Yoongi in his room, so he decided to ask Namjoon instead.
Back to the original story
Taehyung explains the truth unconsciously, throwing his little brother under the bus.
Jin’s eye twitched as he peered at Jungkook, who was attempting to slip out of the kitchen. ” You little sh-!”
Let's just say Jin didn't nearly beat Jungkook almost half to death with a rice paddle while shouting numerous insults to bruise a thousand men’s pride in a second.
It went silent after Jin banished Jungkook to the beach house a few feet from the house until he wanted to see his face again. Namjoon took it upon himself to introduce the gang.
You politely shared a warm hello but wished nothing more to go home.

Adopted
Adopted
Ms. Mendeleiev was unwell, which meant the class had a substitute teaching them. They covered genetics, despite the class being physics. The substitute was sat behind the desk, lazily pointing around the board with a laser pointer.
“So, to recap, everyone in this room shares at least one trait with their parents or a family member.” Said the Sub, as Marinette frowned, “If you don’t, then I suggest you look at the local milkmen.”
“Sir,” Said Marinette, raising her hand, “I don’t resemble any of my family members and-”
“Then you’re adopted.” The Sub cut her off, making Marinette sit back, “If that’s everything, then class dismissed.”
Everyone was in a rush to get out of the room, Marinette trailing behind at the back of the group, her mind going over what the Sub said.
A
Marinette idly pushed her food around her plate, her mind still on what the teacher had said, her parent shared a look.
“Sweetheart, is everything alright?” Asked her mother, making Marinette stop and look up.
“Y-yeah, everything’s fine.” Lied Marinette, her parents silently calling her bluff, “Ugh, fine, we were learning about genetics in class and the teachers said that we all share at least one trait we have with family members,” Tom and Sabine shared a worried look, “and when I said I didn’t share any with my family members, he said that I was adopted, which is crazy, right?”
Marinette let out a nervus laugh, as both her parent looked uncomfortable, her father rubbed his eyes, while her mother sighed, “Marinette, we really didn’t want you to find out like this.”
“W-what?” Stuttered Marinette, her eyes wide and her body slowly going numb.
“Shortly after your father and I married, we got into an accident,” Said Sabine, grasping one of Marinette’s hands, “the result was that we weren’t able to have children.”
Marinette trembled, her mind swirling with what her parents told her.
“The news destroyed us,” Said Tom, “it nearly ended our marriage.”
“Then, we saw you,” Continued Sabine, “we saw you with one of the nurses at the orphanage and you were screaming your little head off, for some reason the nurse passed you off to us and you just stopped. I’ll always remember that moment, when you stopped crying and just stared up at us.”
Marinette looked at her mother, her adoptive mother, and asked “D-did they say who my birth parents were?”
“They didn’t know who your birth father was, but,” Tom scowled, clearly angry about something, “they knew who your birth mother was, and she wasn’t a good character.”
“What do you mean?” Asked Marinette, looking up at him.
“Marinette, when we adopted you, you didn’t have a name,” Said Sabine, looking in Marinette’s eyes, “your… mother was trying to sell you, saying your father was a rich man from America.”
“Why would she try to sell me?” Questioned Marinette, making both Tom and Sabine stiffen.
“Marinette,” Said Sabine, slowly, “She was trying to sell you for drug money.”
A
Marinette didn’t sleep that night, deciding to go on patrol, in an attempt to clear her head. It didn’t work. Marinette stood on the school steps, unsure if she should go in, a hand on her shoulder jerked her from her thoughts.
Adrien looked at her worriedly, trying to gage her emotions.
“Marinette,” Asked Adrien, slowly, “are you okay?”
Marinette nodded, Adrien frowned, quickly seeing through the fake smile the girl had given him.
“Are you sure?” Prompted Adrien, making Marinette’s shoulders slump.
“You know what the teacher said yesterday,” Said Marinette, hugging herself, “about me being adopted?”
Adrien nodded, “If you’re worried that you’re adopted, I’m sure your parents prove the teacher wrong.”
“Adrien,” Said Marinette, looking at the ground, “they told me that I am adopted.”
Adrien stared at Marinette, as she shivered, “They told me that my mother, my birth mother, tried to sell me for drug money, and that my father was some high flying American that stayed for a one-night stand and then jetted off for somewhere else.”
“D-do you want a hug?” Asked Adrien, making Marinette tearfully nod.
“Why?” Sobbed Marinette, into Adrien’s shoulder, “Why didn’t they want me?”

Damien scowled at the people at the party, Grayson had wandered off to talk to some random person, Todd was looking for something to shoot, Drake and Brown were busy introducing themselves to random strangers and his father was speaking to the host.
“I can’t thank you enough,” Said the host, Adrien, to Bruce, “after everything my father did, your contribution and assistance in this really helps all of his victims.”
“It’s the least I could do,” Said Bruce, taking a champagne glass from a waiter, “given how the Justice League didn’t take the information seriously, we thought it’d be best if we helped with the healing of the city.”
Adrien smiled and nodded, just as a little, blonde-haired girl toddled up to him. She tugged on Adrien’s trouser leg twice, making the man scoop her up in his arms.
“Emma!” Said a woman with dark hair, walking towards Adrien and the little girl, Emma, “Emma, I haven’t finished cleaning you up.”
“Mari, what happened?” Asked Adrien, making the woman, Mari, look at him.
Bruce’s breath caught in his throat, this woman, Mari, looked like his late mother, Martha Wayne.
“She spilt her juice down her front,” Said Mari, gently prying the girl from Adrien’s arms, “I managed to get it off her and to get her changed, however, she ran off before I could finish.”
“What needs doing?” Asked Adrien, as Marinette fixed a little flower to Emma’s front.
“That.” Said Mari, looking at Emma and Adrien.
“Papa, Maman told big meanie off.” Said Emma, getting a chuckle from Adrien.
“Well, that’s what happens when someone misbehaves.” Said Adrien, as Emma took a cuddly toy from her mother.
Marinette turned her eyes on Bruce and stuck out her hand, “Marinette Agreste, Founder, and owner, of MDC Designs.”
“Bruce Wayne,” Said Bruce, shaking her hand, “Owner and director of Wayne Enterprises.”
Marinette smiled, “Ah, another orphan.”
Bruce nodded, “True, but I was under the impression that your parents are still alive.”
“My adoptive parents are,” Corrected Marinette, as Adrien placed an arm around her, “I never knew my birth parents and the one time I spoke to my birth mother ended in a screaming match and a restraining order.”
Bruce winced, one of the women he’d met was like that, taking a gamble, Bruce removed his phone from his pocket, and pulled up a picture of the woman who’d turned up a few years ago and turned the screen to face Marinette, “Is that her?”
Marinette froze and nodded.
“Her name’s Bethan,” Said Bruce, putting the phone away, “I met her about 28 years ago.”
Marinette stiffened, before she turned to face Adrien, “I think it’s time for Emma to go to bed, I might do the same.”
Adrien nodded, as he passed a half-awake Emma over to Marinette. The strides Marinette took when she left the men long and fast.
Damien had been listening in on them and discreetly followed the mother and her daughter, he saw her enter the girls’ room and leaving it half-an-hour later, before she headed into another room, either her and her husband’s bedroom or a study.
Damien could hear the mother talking to someone, before a portal opened up beneath him and he fell onto a soft, plush chair, while the mother glared at him.
“I thought it was made clear, that guests are not allowed upstairs.” Said the mother, a pair of reading glasses in her hand and a massive tome in front of her.
“I thought you were hiding something.” Said Damien, scowling.
“Whether I’m hiding something or not is none of your business,” Said the mother, coldly, “what is your business is entertaining yourself downstairs, where you’re supposed to be.”
Damien felt she was like a wolf when her pups were threatened, “Why did you leave when my father told you about his stalker?”
The mother glared at him, before Damien suddenly found himself back at the party, behind his father.
“Father, the host’s wife is using magic.” Said Damien, making Bruce turn and look at him.
A small, red creature was floating in front of his father.
“I know.” Said Bruce, his voice strained, “I also know something that would change this, significantly.”
“What?” Asked Damien, as Bruce ran a hand down his face.
“Damien,” Said Bruce, looking at his son, “She’s your older sister.”
A
“Recognised: Batman: 02.” Came the computerised voice from the Zeta tube, as Batman stalked onto the Watch Tower.
Hal was on monitor duty, not trusting Lagoon Boy after his screw up with the Miraculous and Paris situation.
“Hey, Bruce.” Greeted Hal, not looking away from the monitors.
“I have a daughter.” Said Bruce, in response.
“Yeah, we all know about Stephanie and Cassandra.” Said Hal, as Batman sighed.
“Lantern,” Said Batman, making the other man turn, “I have a daughter who was living in Paris, that I didn’t even know about.”
Lantern was silent, before he uttered the immortal words of “Holy shit.”
A
Marinette sifted through paperwork on her desk, Adrien not too far away as he graded his student’s physics homework. The office door opened, as Alya let Emma into the room, the toddler going directly to Marinette and letting herself on her mother’s lap.
“I heard that one of the guests last night wanted an DNA test.” Said Alya, looking at Marinette.
“Yes, the director of Wayne Enterprises wanted several pieces of DNA from me, from hairs to body fluids.” Snarked Marinette, leaning back in her chair.
“Bruce Wayne,” Said Alya, frowning, “but why now?”
“Because he’s never met me before?” Said Marinette, leaning back in her chair.
“I can see the headlines now,” Said Alya, leaning against Marinette’s desk, “’Top Fashion Designer MDC Bruce Wayne’s Long-Lost Daughter.’”
“I hope not.” Laughed Marinette, getting to her feet, “We need to go outside, we’ve been cooped up in here all day and, quite frankly, I could use the fresh air.”
“That’s an excellent idea, Marinette.” Said Tikki, making everyone jump.
“For fucks sake, Tikki,” Gasped Marinette, as Emma looked up at her, “don’t do that!”
“What does ‘fuck’ mean?” Asked Emma, making everyone in the room go still.
“It’s a bad word and Maman is bad for using it.” Said Marinette, kneeling in front of Emma.
“Hmm.” Said Emma, frowning, “Maman, you’re told off.”
Emma skipped away, leaving Marinette crouching next to her desk.
“Did your daughter just say that you were told off?” Asked Alya, as Marinette groaned, “Anyway, where has Tikki been all week?”
“She’s been speaking to the Wayne’s on my behalf.” Said Marinette, making Adrien and Alya stop cold.
“You revealed your identity to them?” Demanded Adrien, rushing to catch up with his wife.
“I figured out that the Wayne’s are Gotham’s Heroes and, frankly, I prefer this to be on even footing where Batman is concerned.” Responded Marinette, scooping Emma up off the ground.
“Bruce Wayne’s Batman?” Asked Adrien, making Marinette smile.
“I had my suspicions, especially since Batman arrived to help us shortly after Bruce Wayne got settled into his hotel.” Said Marinette, looking at the flowers, “Besides, I had Max helping me figure it all out.”
“Didn’t you yell at him last week because your tropical fruit, carrot, popcorn and almond expresso was too hot.” Asked Adrien, making Alya gasp.
“Marinette, have you been having cravings?” Asked Alya, making Marinette freeze.
After a moment, Marinette nodded, getting a squeal from Alya and a gasp from Adrien.
“You’re pregnant?” Asked Adrien, his wife nodding.
A split second later, Adrien had Marinette in his arms and was laughing loudly, “That’s wonderful!”
“Ooh,” Said Alya, leaning back and smirking, “I can just imagine the fights those two will get into for our attention.”
Both Marinette and Adrien glared at Alya, while Emma looked at her parents, “I’m gonna be a big sister?”
Marinette nodded, smiling. Emma scowled and folded her arms, “Now I’m gonna have to share Maman and Papa.”
Marinette and Adrien laughed.
A
Bruce fidgeted as he waited to hear back from the scientist. Diana frowned, before getting up and walking over to him.
“It’s alright to be nervous,” Said Diana, sitting next to him, “I’ll admit, it was a shock to see Tikki again, but if she’s certain about her holder being your daughter, I see no reason to doubt her.”
“I don’t doubt she’s my daughter, Diana” Said Bruce, leaning forwards, “She figured out my identity shortly after I arrived.”
“She has your brains.” Said Diana, as Bruce’s shoulders slumped.
“When I attempted to broach the topic, she just shut down.” Said Bruce, staring at his hands, “After twenty-eight years of not hearing or seeing me, probably thinking that she was unwanted or wasn’t good enough.”
“She still scared the living shit out of me.” Grumbled Damien, still fuming over the portal in the floor trick.”
Diana looked over at Damien, the boy had come a long way from the weapon the League had made him. He was now a normal, well, as normal as Damien can get, teenager. Damien still had trouble getting over the fact he had a sister a decade older than him.
“Since she’s older than Grayson,” Said Damien, glaring at the ceiling, “Does that mean she’ll inherit the company and everything?”
“No, from what Tikki told us,” Said Diana, getting Damien to look at her, “She opted to dissolve Gabriel Agreste’s assets and connections, she then either sold off the remaining stocks or gave them to charities. I know the Thomas and Martha Wayne Foundation is one of the charities that has a constant supply of money being donated into it.”
“Probably because she thought she was an orphan.” Said Damien, going back to glaring at the ceiling.
“I’m a grandfather.” Said Bruce, after a moments silence.
Damien stopped glaring at the ceiling and gave his father a quizzical look, “You know, now that you mention it, you do look kinda old.”
Bruce glared, before throwing a pillow at Damien.
A
Marinette watched Emma playing with her dolls when Bruce and Damien sat down in front of her.
“I can’t stay long.” Said Marinette, looking at them.
“Why, because you hate us and don’t want anything to do with us?” Demanded Damien, making Marinette slowly turn and look at him.
“No, Emma has a doctor’s appointment.” Said Marinette, getting a frown Bruce and Damien.
“Ah.” Said Damien, getting a short glare from Marinette.
“Ah, indeed.” Said Marinette, as Emma toddled up to her.
“Maman, lookee.” Said Emma, holding something out for her mother to take.
Marinette looked at the frog her daughter dropped into her hands, before it hopped off.
“No! Bad Froggie! Come back!” Emma went to chase after it, only to trip and fall flat on her face.
Within moments, Marinette was cradling her wailing daughter, and starting to calm her down. Damien and Bruce watched Marinette, eventually, Emma’s wails died down into sniffles and the odd hiccup. Marinette held Emma, while the toddler took to sucking her thumb and cuddling up against her mother.
“We’ll have to meet up another time,” Sighed Marinette, picking her bag up, as Emma tightened her grip on her mother’s coat, “I think this little one needs to be seen to before anything else.”
Marinette gave a short whistle, and a dog bounded over towards her. Bruce watched his daughter and grandchild walk away. Damien watched something he’d never experienced.
A
Emma snored quietly, while Marinette watched from the doorway, her thumb going into her mouth as she slept. A plush toy of Chat Noir was held tightly in her arms.
“What’s wrong?” Asked Adrien, approaching Marinette with a cup of tea.
“All this time, I thought both my parents were mindless drug addicts who only care about themselves and having the fear that I’d turn out like them,” Said Marinette, taking the cup, “And in the past week, I’ve found that not only is my father alive, but he’s the biggest playboy in the world and able to buy literally anywhere and not have a dent made in his bank.”
Adrien was silent, before wrapping and arm around Marinette’s shoulders, “You know, when I lost my mother and my father started to become closed off to everything, I was terrified of waking up and finding myself like him. Then, you came along, as did Nino, Alya and everyone else. Your parents don’t define you, only you and who you are as a person can do that.”
Marinette hummed and continued to watch Emma.
“Are you going to talk to them tomorrow?” Asked Adrien, making Marinette look at him.
“I was thinking of inviting them to dinner, let them meet Maman and Papa.” Said Marinette, before downing the drink and leading Adrien to their bedroom, “But, frankly, it’s been a stressful day, for both of us, it seems.”
Adrien grinned and swept Marinette into his arms.
A
Damien felt like an intruder, as he watched Mr. Dupain and Mrs. Cheng playing with Emma, while Marinette, his sister, quietly quizzed Greyson on something to do with the circus. Agreste was ferrying plates of food from the kitchen to the table, a red husky and a black cat following him around. Bruce stared at his granddaughter, it felt odd for him to call the toddler that, he felt Dick sit next to him.
“Well, that was intense.” Said Dick, leaning back in the chair.
“She’s not much older than you.” Said Bruce, making Dick look at him.
“She’s what?” Asked Dick, frowning.
“She’s twenty-eight,” Continued Bruce, his arms folded, “and she’s practically built an empire.”
“That empire,” Said Marinette, looking at the two, “was built on the crumbling remains of Gabriel’s own company, I just took the reins, rebranded it and removed all trace of him as a final middle finger to him.”
Bruce and Dick stared at her, “The room’s built like an echo chamber, really helps when looking for a certain rascal.”
Emma squealed as Sabine tickled her. A loud thud emanated from the upstairs, making Marinette frown.
“I’ll be right back.” Said Marinette, disappearing up the stairs.
There was a silence.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO DOING?!” Yelled Marinette, making everyone jump. Marinette returned with a Vietnamese man and a young woman with pick hair, “These morons though it’d be a good idea to climb up the side of the house and in through the window.”
“The door was locked.” Said the man, making the woman hit him.
“Kim didn’t want to use the bell.” Said the woman, folding her arms.
“The last time I was here, there was a power cut that almost killed Adrien’s mum!” Said the man, Kim, raising his arms above his head.
Marinette gave a sharp whistle, making them flinch, “Kim, ringing the doorbell isn’t going to cause a power cut, Alix, you knew this and still decided to climb up the side of the house.”
The woman, Alix, winced, before adopting a hurt look.
“Don’t even try the wounded rabbit act with me.” Said Marinette, pointing at Alix, “I trust Kim to be the idiotic one out of the two of you, I really don’t need you deciding the prove me wrong.”
Both mumbled out a sorry and looking at the floor.
Emma stomped, more toddled, up to the two adults, “You’re very told off!”
There was a snort, before Mr. Dupain fell over, laughing.
Marinette looked at her daughter, chubby cheeks and pigtails, trying to look intimidating. Scooping the toddler into her arms and gently bouncing her, “I think someone needs a nap.”
“Nuh-uh,” Yawned Emma, rubbing her eyes, “Not sleepy.”
Marinette just shushed her and took Emma back up to her room. Kim and Alix awkwardly shuffled their feet, before Adrien cleared his throat and jerked his head into the kitchen.
“This is a big house.” Said Dick, looking around the dining room, “Not as big as Wayne Manor, but still big.”
“It’s not as big as Gabriel Agreste’s house,” Said Sabine, looking at him, “but, Adrien gave the house to the Heroes of Paris as a base of operations.”
“Considering what he did to it, I’m not surprised.” Said Tom, standing up, “He made a secret bunker underneath it and in the attic.”
“Clearly, something only someone with some serious issues would do.” Said Sabine, frowning, while Bruce and Dick shared a worried look.
“Foods ready.” Said Adrien, as he, Alix and Kim ferried the food in from the kitchen.
A
Marinette had gone to bed directly after dinner, saying she had a headache, Damien quietly followed her, believing she was still hiding something. Damien was disappointed when she got changed and actually went to bed.
“What’cha doin’?” Asked a toddler’s voice, making Damien jump.
Behind him, stood the toddler that his sister, it felt weird calling Agreste that, had been carrying around in the majority of instances he’d seen her.
“You’re not supposed to be here.” Said Emma, a blanket and toy trailing behind her.
“That’s none of your business.” Snapped Damien, making Emma take a deep breath.
Panicking, Damien grabbed the toddler and held her mouth shut, “Your family is hiding something, and I’m going to find out what.”
Emma suddenly looked scared, making Damien smirk, “You know what it is, don’t you?”
“Put. Her. Down. Now.” Came Marinette’s voice, cold and sharp.
Damien froze, before slowly turning and facing Marinette. The dog from before had her teeth bared and a snarling at Damien. Damien dropped Emma onto the floor, with Marinette quickly scooping her up and glaring at Damien, non-verbally instructed him to follow her.
She found Adrien, Kim, Alix and her parents speaking with Bruce and his crowd.
“You need to leave. Now.” Said Marinette, as she entered the room.
Bruce opened his mouth to asked why, before he spotted red marks on Emma’s face and Damien trailing behind Marinette.
“What did he do?” Asked Bruce, already feeling that any progress that had been made was lost.
“I just caught him manhandling my daughter.” Snapped Marinette, as Damien just scowled, “If the rest of you are like him, then I don’t want any of you around.”
“Mrs. Agreste,” Said Dick, standing up, “I can assure you, none of us are like Damien, we actually thought he’d been making progress.”
Damien just stood by the door, scowling at the ground.
“Well, Jason can be a bit rough around the edges, but that’s because he almost died.” Said Dick, making Marinette’s eyes fall on Jason.
“I’ll take that as an explanation as to why he has a hunting knife stuffed in his boot.” Said Marinette, making Jason take his foot off the table.
“It seems that I need to speak with Damien,” Said Bruce, standing up, “perhaps I can find out what he was thinking.”
Marinette frowned, before nodding, “In all honesty, he’s the only one I keep having a problem with.”
Bruce gave a strained smile, before walking past her and grabbing Damien’s arm and pulling him into another room.
“I’m going to grab a dressing gown,” Said Marinette, handing Emma over to Adrien, “and some pain killers.”
In the other room, Bruce pulled out a chair and sat Damien down, “What the hell were you thinking?”
“She’s hiding something!” Protested Damien, making Bruce groan, “Don’t tell me I’m being paranoid, she’s clearly moved things from their designated places before we arrived!”
“Of course, she’s hiding things, Damien,” Said Bruce, looking at his son, “do you remember what Diana called her?”
“The Guardian on the Miraculous.” Said Damien, before a look of realisation appeared on his face, “Oh. Shit.”
“If that’s why you’re creeping about the place, you should’ve just asked.” Said Marinette, making both Bruce and Damien jump.
“How do you do that?” Demanded Damien, “First your daughter does it and now you!”
Marinette froze, before waving her hand, making a window open into the other room.
“What do you mean, Emma’s done it?” Asked Marinette, zeroing in on Damien.
“Just before you told me to drop her, she appeared out of nowhere.” Said Damien, Marinette’s frown deepening.
“Emma isn’t tall enough to open her bedroom door, and I made sure to have all the Kwami accounted for tonight.” Said Marinette, just as Emma appeared in the room, giggling.
“Oh, fuck.” Swore Marinette, making Emma frown and toddle over.
“Naughty word.” Said Emma, pointing at a jar on the side.
Marinette sighed, before pulling a couple of euros out of her pocket and depositing them in the jar. Emma nodded, satisfied, before toddling over to Damien, “Naughty.” Emma pointed to the jar again, getting a snort from Bruce.
Damien looked at his father and sister, before sighing and pulling a roll of euro bills from his pocket and dropped it into the jar.
Emma beamed up at him, before running over to her mother. Marinette sighed, before picking her up and walking back to the rest of the group.
A
Clark looked at the newspaper, nearly spitting his coffee over the front of it.
MDC IS A WAYNE!
Clark groaned and hoped Bruce hadn’t adopted a grown woman. Connor looked up from his book.
“Is everything okay, Kal?” Asked Connor, frowning as M’Gann, Garfield and Bart read the headline.
“Bruce has adopted a grown woman.” Said Clark, starting to stand up.
“Actually,” Said Bart, looking up at him, “Marinette is Batman’s biological daughter.”
People from several blocks away heard the loud what coming from Clark’s apartment.
“Smallville, if one of your super friends has another kid, you don’t need to act surprised by it.” Said a groggy Lois, rubbing her eyes.
A
Ra’s Al Ghul glared at the headline; he knew of the girl. He also knew of the Great Guardians; the League had capitalised on the power vacuum that had been left in their absence. He let out a sharp sigh through his nose and started reading.
A
Marinette looked around the Watchtower, frowning at the sight of the Justice League.
“I’m not even going to start on how impractical some of your costumes are.” Said Marinette, before looking at the trees, “How’d you get the birds up here?”
“You know, we still have no clue.” Said Flash, as a bird landed on Marinette’s head.

Westallen 52+70
Marriage of Convenience+Locked in a Room (so this def got away from me and turned into a full fic that’s also on ao3 here).
Here’s the thing about Iris West, she never breaks a promise. Even one made at nine years old before Barry loses everything.
They’re at his house. His mom smiles from the kitchen telling Iris of course she can stay while her dad works late. She likes Nora’s smile, it’s bright and warm just like the Allen’s home.
They’re in the middle of math worksheets when Barry asks.
“Iris?”
Iris tilts her head. “Yeah?”
Barry fidgets with his pencil. “Do you want to get married one day?”
Iris laughs. “Yeah but dad says I’m not allowed till I’m 35.”
Barry’s eyes go wide. “That’s a long time.”
Iris nods. “It is, but I’ll probably find someone before that.”
Barry nods in return. They’re silent for a little while longer before he speaks up again. “If you don’t find anyone, would you marry me?”
Iris considers him a moment. “That’s forever from now, Barry. What if you find someone?”
He shrugs. “If I don’t? And you don’t?”
Iris holds out her pinkie. “I promise.”
Barry’s cheeks go pink as he links his pinkie with hers.
A year later when he’s crying in her lap and she’s stroking his hair, he whispers “would you still marry me one day, Iris?”
She wipes his cheeks. “Sure, Barry.”
Neither one of them expects their thirty-fifth birthdays to arrive with no spouses or children but as with many other millennials, the future never quite looks how they expected.
Barry is over one evening helping repair Iris’ kitchen sink because her super is useless and Joe’s back won’t allow him to do tasks like this anymore.
Iris blames the latest lifestyle article for why she brings it up at all. CCPN has been running a series on women and how much their lives have improved but also the struggles of modern times. Though thirty-five feels nowhere near old, Iris has been made all too aware that her statistical odds as a well educated black professional are not as much in favor of a spouse as she would like.
She swings her legs on the counter after she hands Barry the wrench he asked for. “Hey, Bear?”
There’s a small grunt of acknowledgement below her.
“You remember that time we were nine doing homework at your house and you asked if I’d marry you?”
There’s a clang of tools and a curse as Barry slides out from under the sink. She feels bad as she watches him rub his forehead, a small red spot appearing.
“Yeah,” he says quickly. “W-what made you think about that?”
She shrugs. “Well we’ve hit our time limit.”
He shakes his head. “Iris, we were nine. Thirty five feels ancient at nine.”
She crosses her arms and peers down at him. “You backing out on me now, Barry?”
He stares at her a moment. “Are you serious?”
“I don’t give out pinky swears lightly.”
He tilts his head up at her and she thinks, not for the first time, that he’s grown up to be so much more than the scrawny nerd she knew in school. He’s still a nerd of course but he’s filled out and can actually throw a punch almost as well as she can. Not to mention, he’s the director of the CSI division and often travels to consult for departments in other cities. He volunteers in the summers at various science camps, laughs at all her jokes and is so useful at trivia night. He’s still her best friend, she could do a whole lot worse.
“What about that Eric guy you were seeing?”
She rolls her eyes. “It only took one drink to realize he’s not worth my time. What about Tina?”
He scoffs. “She left with our waiter.”
Iris hops off her counter and pats Barry on the shoulder. “Look, I know we actually have time but why waste it on these losers when we could be with our best friend?”
Barry looks at her a long time and she’s sure he’s going to say no. In fact, she resigns herself to it when he slips back under her sink to finish fixing it. She shouldn’t be disappointed nor surprised really. Maybe it was a stupid idea anyway. Barry has always been a romantic and Iris’ practical appeal isn’t exactly the most enticing.
She wonders if he’ll leave as she opens the door for the takeout she promised in exchange for his labor.
“I’m assuming you’ll come live with me then? You’ll have a handyman at your beck and call and you’ve already waxed poetic about my floor plan.”
Iris drops her chopsticks. “Really, Bear?”
Barry smiles bright and warm and Iris can’t help but think of Nora. “Yeah.”
***
Barry really should have warned her about the laundry room. It hadn’t occurred to him of course because the faulty lock always meant he kept the door open.
She’s in the middle of pulling on his Millennium Falcon t-shirt when a breeze slams the door shut.
“Damn,” he whispers.
“What?” She asks as she flips her hair from the collar of the shirt.
It’s curly today. CCPN is under new management and with the recent round of legislation around hair styles, Iris has opted for more time with her curls both at home and at work. Barry, of course, has no complaints. He’s loved her hair ever since he heard the soft clink of the beads at the end of her braids when she approached him in kindergarten.
He points behind him, trying hard not to linger on the vision that is his wife in his clothes. Wife, he’ll never get over that.
“The door. It doesn’t open from this side.”
Her eyes go wide as she rushes to pull the handle to no avail. “Damn,” she mutters.
“Yeah,” he says as he scratches the back of his neck.
She knits her eyebrows up at him. “What are you doing home so early?”
“I had court this morning,” he gestures at his suit, “and I haven’t switched out my bag with fresh clothes yet so I swung by so I could have something for the lab.”
Her eyes linger on his tie, a hint of a smile playing at her lips and he hopes she doesn’t read too much into his choice. Six months into their marriage and Barry is still terrified Iris might guess the depth of his feelings. There had been countless times over the years he wanted to share how he felt.
That night on her dad’s couch as he cried and asked if she might still marry him. Middle school when he had the good fortune of a foster family that lived in Iris’ neighborhood and didn’t judge him for his anger or his desire to see his dad. High school when he broke up with Becky and hoped Iris’ concern was less friendly consideration and more because she’d prefer to be his girlfriend. The time she confessed she thought no one might love her the way Eddie had.
Yet, he’s stayed silent, sure that if Iris felt anything close to him, she’d say something. He never forgot his childhood proposal but he’d been so sure Iris had.
Call him a fool for settling but no woman could ever match his best friend so when she’d called him on their old promise, he couldn’t resist. Thus here he was locked in a room with the woman he’d always dreamed might be his wife and nervous she might finally see the truth.
“I’ll call Dad,” she says before she looks around and sighs. “My phone is in the kitchen.”
Barry pats his jacket, thankful he finds his phone there. “He got called to a scene but Cecile was on her way to pick up lunch for the both of them, I’ll see if she can swing by.”
Iris sighs in relief. Cecile thankfully picks up but it’ll be two hours and Barry’s phone dies shortly after. He leans against the wall while Iris hops up on one of the machines. Barry tries not to think of the activities they’d get up to if they had gotten married for more typical reasons but it’s hard when Iris is drowning in his shirt and pouting her lips as she looks around the room.
“So, what should we do?”
He shrugs. “Well, um-“
“What was your case about?”
He relaxes slightly, thankful for a subject that will definitely distract from his irrespirable wife. He starts to explain the case, leaving out any confidential details and Iris gets that look on her face where he knows she’s listening but slightly lost in the science of it all. He used to think it annoyed her but she confessed a couple years back that while she didn’t understand it all, she did find it fascinating.
“Barry?” She whispers after he’s done and a comfortable silence settles between them.
“Hmm?”
“You think we should have kids?”
He stumbles slightly against the wall. “Um, do you want to?”
She bites her bottom lip and he finds that after an hour in such a small space, he can’t resist the image that pops up in his brain of kissing it free. “I think so. I know there’s always adoption and I think I’d be down for that if you are but we could try the biological way first.”
He assumes that like their marriage this might be a practical arrangement. After all, they sleep in separate bedrooms, careful not to let their family see that part of their house often. They decided the particulars of their marriage were no one’s business but their own and they let their family and friends stay blissfully ignorant.
“So did you want to try a fertility specialist or something? When did you—“
“Hey, Bear?”
He watches her slide off the washing machine and inch closer to him, fiddling with the edge of his tie. “Yeah?”
She smiles in a way he’s always dreamed of but never seen. She tugs at his tie to bring him closer and leans up bringing them close enough to kiss. “Why don’t we try it the traditional way first?”
Barry raises his eyebrows and squeaks out “you mean like now? Together? Here? Like right now?”
She chuckles darkly. “Yeah, we could—”
“Barry? Iris?”
“In here!” Shouts Iris. He expects her to jump away but she waits until they hear Cecile jiggle the doorknob and only then does she step away slowly.
Barry can barely catch his breath as Iris thanks Cecile and sends her on her way. He walks into their living room on shaky feet and wonders what to do next.
Iris leans against the door after seeing Cecile out and winks at him. “Why did you wear that tie, Barry?”
He tilts his head. “B-because you gave it to me.” And told me I look nice, he thinks. And smiled at me.
She smiles and saunters toward him. “Why did you marry me?”
His heart races as he considers denying the truth. The same truth he’s been so afraid to reveal for years but Iris wants children and is looking at him as if he should hope and so he does the brave thing. “Because I love you and I’ve never wanted to marry anyone else.”
Her smile melts from seductive to just soft. “Yeah?”
He nods.
She leans up and kisses him, chaste but lingering, the second kiss since their wedding day. “Me too, Bear.”
His heart leaps in his chest as he leans down to kiss her the way he’s wanted to for years.
When they part, she whispers, “you’ll be late for work.”
He shrugs and wraps his arms around her waist. “They’ll live.”

#10 The roulette of feelings

After a few days in London we caught our flight to Monte Carlo. I’m not sure how long we stayed there. This mission felt like a long holiday since the very beginning.
Still on board we agreed that Bond would be the one to play poker and I would pose as his wife, or, as he has put it, “a crown jewel”. Usually I don't like being treated as such, since my experience in behaving like a damsel is close to a bare minimum, but this time I really enjoyed it. Bond was clearly pleased with his leading role in this show, and - while sitting at the poker table - he started to take chances more eagerly. He boasted about his poker skills all the time and I kept working from the shadows, observing him and our rivals, and making sure that we don’t expose ourselves too much. A win-win situation.
We were quite busy spending time at the casino, discussing the tactics, or using all the possible attractions offered by the city of Monte Carlo. The only contact I had with the outside world during the first week were my reports to MI6 which went directly to M, delivered to him by Eve Moneypenny.
One day, while Bond was on the meeting with our liaison (it's amazing the SIS has got its people... everywhere), my phone rang. I picked it up and sat on my bed, crossing my legs.
"Hi Eve. It’s nice to hear you. Did you... find out anything?"
"Not yet, Kath, but I'm working on it," she reassured me. "I just wanted to know how you're doing. You haven't been in touch for *days*. I’ve only noticed your daily reports."
"I'm more than fine, thank you. And I’m sorry for not being in touch... I have to admit I've been kinda busy, but... I won’t complain. Finally I do all those things I needed to recharge my batteries."
“I can’t believe what I hear! Does it mean I should become a double-0 if I want to feel more relaxed?” she teased me.
“You definitely should try it,” I replied, smiling. “I know it sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely true. I enjoy the high-life more than I expected... All those fancy parties, drinks, wealthy men, late-night strolls around the streets of Monte Carlo... You get used to it pretty quickly," I replied in delight. "Sometimes I forget that I am here for the purpose of work.”
“It’s great to hear that, Kath. You deserve it, especially after what happened in Geneva,” said Eve and hesitated. “And... And w-w-what about Bond...? I guess it’s him who takes you on these late-night strolls?”
I laid on the bed, putting one pillow under my head. I looked straight at the white ceiling.
“Well... We spend each night at the casino, pretending to be a husband and a wife who just want to enjoy themselves... In the mornings Bond tries to teach me how to play poker. I fail miserably every time!” I chuckled. “We share a suite. I had some concerns before, but so far he behaves."
Eve's voice went up really high.
"You mean he did give up on you?”
I tilted my head to the right, placing my cheek on one of the pillows and pressing the phone to my ear.
"He didn’t. We flirt regularly," I replied, as I scratched my forehead with my left hand. “But he’s more patient now, I reckon. And more self-confident. He knows I can’t pay much attention to the other men at the casino, cause it would blow our cover immediately. He knows I wouldn’t do that... This is what makes him... erm... powerful. And he probably thinks I will fall for him eventually,” I added, rolling my eyes. “And I’m afraid he’s right.”
“Uh, you don’t really *mean* it, do you?” she asked, concerned. “There’s no pressure... This mission won’t last forever.”
“Honestly, Eve? Sometimes I feel like it will last forever... And Bond’s presence gets more addictive every day,” I said, lying on my back again. “I used to make fun of it, but I’m afraid I can’t resist Bond much longer. I mean... Not because he’s irresistible, but because... I really start to feel something for him.”
I took a deep breath and then continued:
“It all depends on what you find. If Mallo... erm, if the man I asked you to spy on... is married, then I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t have an affair with Bond...”
“Fair enough,” commented Eve. “At least you know what Bond wants from you. Suppose that’s something. But didn’t you admit the other day that you loved Ma...”
“It’s more complicated than you think," I interrupted. "When you spend all days in Bond’s company, it changes your perspective entirely... You’d better hurry then. I am so confused recently...” Damn, I thought. There is no need to burden Eve with all of this... I should probably change the subject. “... but you didn’t tell me anything about yourself, how was your day at the SIS? Any news?”
“Business as usual. I can’t share much detail, but it seems like Amanda’s got reassigned as she had requested.”
“Good for her. Send my love.”
“I will. And I promise to get in touch as soon as I find out anything about... *him*.”
...
The upcoming days passed so fast that I didn’t think about anything apart from what was going on in Monte Carlo. Intuitively both myself and Bond concentrated on the everyday tasks of the mission, but it turned out most of the time we just had fun, which meant our Walther and Beretta were absolutely useless.
Since the only moments I had only to myself were those just before going to bed in the evenings, I often spent them on analyzing my own feelings and, as a result, I developed a certain kind of insomnia. Or, I should rather call it “a difficulty with falling asleep”.
My thoughts were centred on Mallory. I miss him. I miss him dearly, but only when I have time to think about what he's doing in his old-fashioned office in London. When Bond is around, it’s only him who matters to me. Why is that? What the hell has happened to me? I don't know, but it's disturbing. And I get tired every time I try to sort things out in my mind... Can I really sleep with Bond if Mallory’s married? It’s not about giving up on a married man (which is an obvious decision from my point of view, as I would never break up *anyone’s* marriage), but about being honest to myself. Do I really love Mallory if I can fantasize about Bond? Or do I really feel something for Bond if my next move depends on Mallory’s marital status?
After a few evenings of such intense thinking I realized that no matter the arguments, such analysis is pointless. I could be thinking about this for a year and still didn’t come up with a right solution. I decided to wait and see how the case would resolve itself.
On the last day - it was one of those splendid days in June when you feel the most alive - we went to the casino for one more time, looking more dashing than ever. Little did we know, when we walked hand in hand into the casino - Bond wearing a black dinner jacket and me in an evening scarlet dress - that Bond would win the night’s poker game, gaining an enormous amount of money.
Late at night, around 3 A.M. I went straight to the poker table and brought Bond a dry martini (I've already had a few of them myself to relieve the boredom).
"Congratulations," I said, handing him a martini.
"Thank you," replied Bond and drank half of his glass.
I looked at him with aroused interest while he was drinking. I was never good at poker and, as much as I didn't want to, I had to admit the way he played that night impressed me.
"What do we do now?"
For a while, he observed the olives that seemed as if they were swimming inside the glass, and then gave me a quick glance.
"We pack and come back to London."
"Is that so? What about the winnings?" I asked in disbelief, expecting some kind of joke rather than a matter-of-fact response.
"I will have to transfer them to MI6. I have already contacted M, he should send me the instructions in the next few hours."
"You've already contacted M? Someone's in a hurry. Was your time here *that* bad?” I taunted him.
Bond smirked, but didn't say anything. I glanced around the room. The people started to leave the place.
"So, it means we came here broken and we leave broken, despite the win?" I asked, laughing.
"One could say that," Bond agreed. "But I can still afford a dinner and a drink. Would you join me tonight for a humble celebration?"
"With pleasure. Let's enjoy our last hours in this marvellous place,” I said, taking him by the arm.
After the dinner in one of the restaurants at the casino, we went for our last walk around the streets of Monte Carlo. Both me and Bond became unexpectedly talkative, probably because of too many drinks we had to celebrate the happy ending of the mission.
It could have been around 5 A.M when the walk started to feel too exhausting, and we went back to our shared suite.
"Would you like another?" asked Bond, pointing to the bottle of bourbon at the table, just after we locked the door to the suite.
"Yes," I replied. "The last one for tonight."
I have no idea why I agreed to this, cause I've never been drinking much or mixing alcohols in the past. After Bond handed me my glass, I let my hair down and rushed to the balcony. I need to see this amazing city just one more time before I go to sleep, I thought. I observed the skyline, waiting for Bond to join me.
"To the king and queen of Monaco," said Bond and we clinked glasses, standing next to each other.
I smiled at him and drank the whole glass with my eyes closed, but I still could tell he was staring at me.
"You know, Katherine, it's been one of my favourite missions so far."
"Really?”
"Yes... It’s the simplicity of it,” he took off his dinner jacket, thrown it on the nearest chair, and then continued. “The task I'm really good at... the fairy-tale location, no rush... and the right woman. You," he said in his deep, smooth voice and put his glass on the floor.
Then he put one of his hands on the railing and turned to me, but didn’t say a word, as if he intended to find out how close to me I would allow him to move.
“It’s an honour to hear something like that from such an experienced double-0,” I said timidly, still holding the empty glass in my hands.
Bond gazed at me for a few seconds.
"It's true, I've been a double-0 for quite a while," he said and turned his head to look at the skyline of Monte Carlo, "but rarely did I feel this close with another agent. It's strange. I’ve always tried to avoid being emotionally attached to anyone. Cause of the job's nature and all that stuff."
This time it was me who stayed quiet. I just kept listening to him, realizing how much I *love* his voice and how could I listen to him talking *forever*. It occurred to me how beautiful his magnetic blue eyes were, especially in the middle of the night. One could say the same about Bond's face which now seemed to me like the face of the most handsome man on the planet. It should be illegal to be *that* handsome, I thought.
Bond turned his head to me.
"Then I've met you... and it seems I forget about all of those rules in the blink of an eye... it seems I don't control myself anymore."
I don't know how it happened, but in the next moment I found myself in Bond's arms. I felt his embrace, so tight, as if he wanted to protect me from all of the threats of this world. The glass dropped out of my hands and probably broke up, but we didn’t hear anything apart from the sound of our pumping hearts. I placed my hands on Bond’s chest, and we began to kiss, not being able to control the lust that started to fulfil our bodies. I quickly moved my hands to his neck and then the back of his head. I caressed his hair, which felt like the most pleasant material I have ever touched.
"You're the woman of my dreams," whispered Bond, when he started to kiss my neck. In response, I tilted my head back, but continued to touch his hair.
Out of the blue Bond picked me up and headed towards the bedroom. He was in a hurry, wanting to put me on his bed as soon as possible. He took off his shirt and laid down on me, holding my waist and passionately kissing my neck.
"Oh, James," I moaned, as the touch of his lips and hands started to turn me on. “Keep going... umm... And use that nice, deep voice of yours.”
“Like this?” he asked, lowering his voice and biting my ear. “Do you like it?”
“Yes...”
Oh my, I am in heaven. If he doesn't stop, I'll melt, I thought. I let Bond kiss me a few more times, but then moved to the other side of the bed to undress. Bond watched me hungrily as I took off my dress and stockings. And there I was, lying on his bed and wearing only my sexy black lingerie. I thought that he would eat me if he could.
I encouraged Bond with a sensual gesture, touching myself where I wanted to be touched the most. He couldn’t stand watching me for long, and came closer to kiss me again. He slowly moved from my belly and breasts to my neck.
“I've been waiting for this moment since the day we've met," he murmured, while kissing my collarbone.
I closed my eyes to double the thrill and make the experience more intense. My hands moved to his back and held him tighter.
"You drive me crazy," Bond whispered into my ear.
A fast thought crossed my mind. It's true what they say in the Service... nobody does it better... he's definitely a great lay... to hell with “the revenge plot”, go for it, Kath. I was just about to take off my bra, when I heard something was vibrating. I got a text. Great timing. I opened my eyes and reluctantly sat on the bed, bending down to the bedside cabinet.
"Oh, Katherine, just ignore it," said Bond who still caressed my waist with his right hand.
"Look who’s talking," I replied. "The most professional man in the Service... There’s no need to describe this to you..."
I looked at the screen and in that exact moment my adventurous mood was gone. I felt as if my heart stopped for a short while.
Hi, just wanted to let you know that I have some evidence. He's not married anymore. Love, Eve
I quickly locked the screen to prevent Bond from seeing the message, as I felt his touch on my back. He hugged me from behind, kissing my left shoulder.
"Shall we continue?" he asked in his naughty manner.
I froze in my tracks. What about M? How can I fight for him if I sleep with another man right now? I promised myself to fight for Mallory and I have to be consistent. This was fun, but... I love Mallory, right? It's high time to stop playing games... and to finally forget about Bond. Perhaps it's a good sign I got this message before we did antyhing reckless.
I stood up with my back to Bond, still holding the phone in my hands.
"I'm sorry James... but I can't do this,” I declared as seriously as I could.
"But why?" he asked calmly, but his voice was full of disappointment and sadness. "Was it something I did?"
Oh, dear James, I thought. If you only knew how perfectly you did everything...
"No," I replied and turned to him. My voice was shaking a bit. "It was... it was a wonderful night, but I've never slept with a co-worker before... and... I've just realized it would be wrong. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for this," I blurted out and felt a tear doing down my cheek.
Bond seemed not to believe me.
"You've *just* realized it? *Just* after you've got that message," he said, pointing to my phone. "I don't know what this is about, but... we've had such a great time here, why not celebrate it tonight? It doesn’t matter at all that we work together."
I turned my head in embarrassment, trying not to look at him. He stood up and came closer to me.
"I know that you like me," Bond said and placed his hands on my arms. "You can't simply deny our chemistry. You've seen what kind of magic it can cause... you don't have to ruin it."
I took his hands off me and went to the other side of the bed to grab my clothes.
"I'm really sorry, James. It's over."
"It's over before it even started... Strange, isn’t it?"
I ignored him, as I headed toward to the door leading to my part of the suite. I must have looked miserable in my sexy black lingerie, holding my evening dress, and being on the verge of a mental breakdown.
"I don't want to hurt you *again*," I said quietly with my hand on the doorknob.
Bond shook his head.
"You will hurt me if you leave,” he said calmly, but I knew he was full of anger. His eyes told me he was suspicious of everything I’ve said.
As I knew he had the very right to be suspicious, I turned my back on him, trying to get inside my part of the suite. My hands started to shake, making it impossible to quickly open the door.
“You still think about *him*, don’t you Kath...?” Bond asked in a raised voice, with his hands on his hips. “Why do you keep deceiving yourself? He’s not cut out for it! He doesn’t see you this way... and even if something happened between us he wouldn’t care!”
But I would, James. I would, I thought, going inside my part of the suite through the door. I couldn’t bear to look at those cold blue eyes again.
I went up straight to the bathroom and locked the door. I could not think of anything else than just bursting into tears.
You're so stupid, Kath. Mallory thinks you're responsible, but you're just stupid, I thought, looking at myself in the mirror. What was that for? Bond might be a womanizer, but no one deserves to be treated like that. No one. Does he use other women? He does. But it’s none of your business, Kath. You don't offer someone the pleasure and then deny it. You just don’t...
I spend a few minutes sitting on a bathroom’s floor and crying.
But looking on the bright side... at least I got my backup story. Everyone will see something’s happened between us, but no one will ask questions. And if there is a slightest chance M cares about me, he’ll get the message.
I can’t wait for this mission to be really over. By this time tomorrow I shall be in my apartment in London. Alone.

To be continued.

Illumi x Reader, Emperor AU Oneshot
A/N: Meh, possibly a little basic since it was hastily written, but I felt like writing something other than my main story! I’ll post on AO3 as well~ A baby dose of smut at the end, under 18 please do not interact.
Also this isn’t proofread cuz yeah, so any mistakes please ignore lmfao
---
“Thank you, come again sir!” You said, in as cheerful a tone as you could muster, as you handed over an overflowing cup of assorted, chopped fruits to an older gentleman regular. Now that it was early summer and your family farm’s harvest had been abundant, you and your baby sister sold fruit daily in the small but bustling market of your village. Your stand was successful, owing to the freshness of the produce and the polite cheerfulness you and your sister exuded.
“I’m surprised you’re still out here!” The old man warned you, steadying himself on his cane as he held the cup with his other hand.
“Of course I am! Who else would serve you your afternoon snack?” You joked, tapping the old man on the shoulder playfully.
He returned an edentulous smile. “Just be careful, young miss!’ He warned, turning to leave.
“Understood, uncle!”
I wonder why he was surprised to see me out here…, you thought but decided to dispel the thought immediately. The old man was a little kooky anyway.
Now that it seemed that the afternoon rush was starting to wane, you inspected your stores and realized you need to replenish. You moved to the back to start preparing more of the fruit, then waved your little sister over.
“Lily, we’re running out of watermelon. Can you be a dear and bring some more?” You whispered to the plucky nine-year-old. “Are you strong enough to carry it?”
“Of course sis!” She grinned and showed a fist. “I’ll be back in a flash!”
With that, she ran off, down the hill to the farm to collect more fruit. While you were waiting, you continued to work on slicing peaches and mangoes, humming softly as you worked. It was warm outside, even warmer in the tiny shack, and sweat was collecting on your brow as you prepared the next few cups. Once you were done, you would take a short break to get some water, so you focused on your work.
That was until you heard the clip-clop and short whinny of a horse arriving outside the stand. Since Lily was still gone, you rinsed your hands clean with a small bucket of clear water, and went to the front to serve them.
“Hello, and welcome!” You said, brightly, still drying your hands on the apron, until you looked up and saw not the wandering traveler on horseback as you expected, but a stunning man in the garb of an imperial guard reining in the most regal-looking horse you had ever seen.
You began to shake, and the guard gave a disarming yet malicious grin as he sensed your fear.
“I come on orders of the Emperor,” he announced, his voice loud and spirited, and leaned over the counter of the shack, both elbows now propping up his chin. You fell prostrate at the word Emperor, on the sun-baked dirt of the road, but the guard only laughed.
“Get up, I’m not the Emperor, no need for formalities.”
You shook your head, knowing that anyone who had his seal was effectively representing the sovereign and you were just a lowly village girl. What right did you have to hold your head up high?
“Stubborn, are you?” He mused. He entered the shack, which made your heart pound in terror, and nudged you with his boot, then knelt to your side.
“If you don’t get up, you’re disobeying a direct order, and that truly would be a cause for death,” he said. With that, you immediately got up and folded your arms before you, bowing slightly.
“Hello sir, how may I serve you today?”
“That’s better,” he said, now leaving the shack and returning to the counter.
“Serve me an assortment and a cup of water. I’m parched.” You nodded quickly, and went to the back to present him with these items. As he drank, you watched him shyly, having never seen someone from the empire this far in the outskirts.
While the guard was stunning, he was odd-looking: pale with hair an unnatural crimson, a slender, pointed face, and heavy-lidded amber eyes, reminiscent of a golden dragon. Even though he spoke in a sing-song voice, he seemed like he could breathe fire at any time. He noticed you watching, and placed the cup down forcefully before he started on the fruit.
“Like what you see?” He teased. It was already hot in the shack, but now you were burning up. He continued to eat in quiet but ravenously, licking his lips to collect the juices running  watching you carefully as though making a grade in his head.
It turns out he was, because the next thing he said, shocked your entire system.
“It’s your lucky day, little flower. Today is the third wave of concubine selection, and I’ll be your ticket into the palace.”
You were dumbstruck. Concubine selection? Palace? No, what you did was sell fruit, take care of your sister and parents, and work on the farm. That was your existence, nothing less, nothing more.
“Why do you look confused?” He repeated, in genuine surprise. “The town criers were all over the land and should have notified all the villages to offer up their women of marriageable age. Did they not make it this far?” He tapped his chin, idly, looking up as he thought. “Well, that’s at least five people who will need to be executed when I make it back.”
It suddenly occurred to you. That’s why the old man had been surprised that you were still out in the open. You should have been hidden. You had heard enough about the stories of women who entered the palace and failed concubine selection only to be made slaves immediately. It was awful. Why hadn’t you hidden? Why hadn’t you known? Why had you been out in the open where everyone could see?
Now it made sense that your mother had not come out today with the two of you. Why she had looked at you so forlornly in the morning as you headed out in the morning, and hugged you extra tightly... Now you were angry. It felt like a betrayal.
You had been quiet for long enough that the imperial guard had grown impatient.
“Let’s go~ I don’t have all day.”
“C-can I say goodbye to my family first?” You pleaded. “They’re just down that hill.”
He gave you a cruel smile. “If I see them, I’m formally required to cut them down for disobeying a royal decree in not registering you for the selection.” With this, he unsheathed the sword at his side, and swung twice in swift, sure strikes. “Which would be fun, I admit.”
You immediately dropped to your knees again in pleading for your family.
“Don’t worry, I’m too lazy to go down there anyway. Plus, I’m late,” he said, re-sheathing his sword. “How about you grab some more of that fruit for the road?”
Finally mounted on the monster of a horse and holding onto the imperial guard’s waist (he had called himself Imperial Guard Hisoka Morow), you were whisked off to the palace. You looked back at your childhood home with tears in your eyes, knowing that unless you caught the eye of the Emperor or received the favor of a high-ranking concubine, you would never have the luxury of seeing your family again. Off in the distance, you could see Lily, running up the hill, a watermelon in hand, and your heart broke.
----
Your entry into the palace was a whirlwind. In seconds,  you were treated to more extravagance than you had ever had in your life - inspected by the imperial physicians for health and disease, bathed in milk and rose petals, and dressed in vibrant and soft silk more extravagant that you had ever seen in your life, under the supervision of Imperial Guard Hisoka who stood outside the preparation area, monitoring the transformation of ugly duckling into swan.
You stepped out on shoes that were like stilts, unable to walk and unsteady, stabilized by Hisoka’s hand outstretched for you. Your ears still stung painfully from the multiple fresh piercings to accommodate the ornate jewelry now framing your face.
“W-why are you so invested in me?” You asked Hisoka, who helped you a few steps before calling for a palace maid to accompany you. He walked by your side, hands behind his back, staring straight ahead as you continued to hobble.
“You seem like you have potential, and it’s always good to have an ally in the harem.” He got closer as he whispered this last portion.
“If the emperor doesn’t want you, I’ll add you to my household. I’m quite impressed by how well you clean up.”
You couldn’t tell if it was fear or excitement that caused the flutter in your belly, but you almost stumbled, and Hisoka caught you. Looking at the hapless palace maid by your side, his eyes narrowed.
“You are well aware that a single scrape can cause her disqualification. If she falls, I will have you executed, so accompany her knowing that your life is at stake.” Hisoka threatened. The maid looked like she had aged ten years at once. You were afraid for her, and for yourself, now making sure to take every next step slowly and carefully.
Hisoka grinned, likely relishing in the extreme power he had over others.
“I’ll see you at the selection~” He sang cheerfully, as he trudged ahead, sword by his side.
----
Emperor Zoldyck looked from his throne out at the women kneeling on one knee before him, with their attendants, hoping for a look in their direction. Uninterested as usual, the young man, sovereign over multiple nations through subjugation of his four younger siblings, sighed and called over his lead advisor and right hand man, Imperial Guard Hisoka.
While he was uncreatively named the Treacherous Emperor for his upheaval of the kingdom after his father’s death, he was as beautiful as he was powerful, and so the noblewomen continued to dote on him. However, despite this, he had yet to select his consorts and had never taken a legitimate wife before ascending to power. There were rumors that he was in love with his favorite guard, and this was fueled by the fact that he was bold enough to sit on a throne on his left side rather than stand guard, crossing his legs and looking onto the crowd of women as well.
“I added a few to the selection by the way, your Majesty,” Hisoka whispered to the emperor to the side. “There were a few stragglers.”
The emperor shrugged impassively. “Point out those you found fascinating. I can’t be bothered with this.”
Hisoka’s eyes gleamed as he pointed straight at you, and two other women. Fear struck your heart.
“Rise,” the emperor said, beckoning. You stood up stick-straight from your spot, not having any home training, and stumbled forward, falling into the woman before you. Who fell into the woman before her. Who fell into the woman before her…
Hisoka started to laugh uncontrollably as you got up quickly, gathering your dress, and kicked off your shoes, prostrating yourself again before the Emperor, repeating “I deserve to die, I deserve to die, I deserve to die, I deserve to die.”
The two women who had gracefully made their way to the front smiled and snickered softly, regarding her. Hisoka had to stifle a laugh as well, but the emperor, hoping to establish a sense of order, then turned to look at the rest of his imperial guards.
“Drag those two out.”
The two women froze in fear, and just like that, were carried away, kicking and screaming.
Hisoka, surprised himself, held his laughter, and raised his eyebrows at the emperor. You continued to prostate yourself, crying for having disgraced yourself to the emperor. Exasperated, he rose and without regarding you, exited to his right side.
“The selection is concluded for today.”
And just like that, hundreds of people dispersed.
Hisoka knelt beside you again, giving you an amused, sardonic look. “I knew you’d be entertaining.” He called your attendant back and ordered her to take you to the temporary lodging palace.
“Once you’re done, go to the office of punishment to receive 10 lashes for allowing her to fall,” Hisoka said to her to your and her dismay.
“It was my fault!” You pleaded.
“Yeah, but you may or may not become one of the Emperor’s precious things. So~” His smile widened. You felt the blood run cold, but accepted defeat. “Rendezvous at the same place tomorrow morning. You haven’t been eliminated yet.”
---
Sleep didn’t come easily to you, and by the time morning arrived, the palace maids had to work twice as hard to smooth out the fatigue on your face, as you made it to the selection again.
This time, the hundreds of women had been split to a select fifty, and you were surprised that you were called. Also noticeably, this time you were closer to the front, rather than in the back, right corner as you had been in the middle. The goal was probably to decrease the number of obstacles you’d have to go through, to your embarrassment. On your way here, you’d already  heard the whispers:
She looks so country…
She can’t even walk in those heels, she was a walking casualty…
Not to mention, she got the other two unfairly punished!
You still continued to concentrate on your balance as selection continued and each woman was individually scrutinized, then it came up to your turn again. This time, your attendant, her butt probably still sore from the 10 merciless lashes given yesterday afternoon, was extremely careful helping you up as you stood before the Emperor.
You avoided looking into his eyes.
“Greetings to you, your Royal Highness,” you said in a practiced manner, hoping to cover up your country accent.
“Passed.” he said in a calm, even voice. His voice was assuring and alluring but you were in a frenzy of emotions.
Passed? What does that mean, “passed”?
Before you could figure out what passed meant, you were dragged away.
----
It was when Imperial Guard Hisoka came in congratulations, surrounded by a group of senior palace maids, the ones that worked in the central palace only, and two eunuchs, that you figured out what ‘passed’ meant. You were being favored.
Your heart pounded and thumped and cried the entire time you were dressed and prepared.
Fear of not being good enough. Anxiety of what was to come. Anger of leaving your family. Determination to remain in the emperor’s favor.
If you were to lose favor, it would be all over for you.
Stripped to your undergarments, made up, and wrapped up in a red quilt, you were carried over to the emperor’s personal quarters, where you knelt in your underwear until he pulled back the silk curtain.
“I am at your service, your Royal Highness,” you said with eyes lowered, hands clammy, face flushed, and heart screaming in your chest.
“Your accent… is entertaining. You may rise.”
You rose to your feet, hiding your body with your hands in shame. You were so exposed, so vulnerable both physically and in terms of power dynamic. In the snap of his fingers, he could have you executed.
You looked up and finally paid attention to his face, and immediately fell in awe. He was really as beautiful as they said.
His hair was long, lustrous and soft looking, and he had soft features, and smooth skin like a child. But most beautiful of all were his large, doe-like eyes. Despite the fact that you knew he was known to be cruel and quick to dole out punishment, even back in the countryside where you were from, you couldn’t help but fall for these doe-like eyes.
“What is your name?”
You said your name in a soft mumble, and he repeated it, trying the words on his lips.
“Well,” he said your name out loud again, “I’ve decided to start the harem with you.”
With that, he moved quickly as you were left to process. You let out a gasp as he lifted you up in his strong arms; you reflexively put your arms around his neck. He paused, and looked at your lips longingly before placing you on the royal bed.
Once you were on your back, he climbed onto the bed, straddling you on both sides. Your whole body started to quiver as you pulled into yourself, but he placed one hand gently on your cheek.
“Relax.” With that he leaned in, his lips cold but soft as they pressed to yours. You felt your body be consumed entirely with that kiss and your body relaxed, your arms and legs laying uselessly by your sides. You don’t remember when your undergarments were removed, but the thin fabric had disappeared, possibly ripped away by him as he distracted you with his tongue exploring your mouth.
He was intoxicating. His kisses traveled from your lips, to your neck, to your collarbones, to  your nipples, abdomen and finally down into your core, where you arched in pleasure, adjusting to a sensation you’ve never yet experienced. His hands traveled gently up and down your thighs as his tongue ran circles, spirals, and figure eights around your clit, and his tongue pierced your warm center, making you moan unintelligibly in pleasure.
“Call me by my name,” he said, his voice about an octave lower as the palm of his hand worked your bud and the tips of fingers worked the sensitive nipple of your breasts.
“Y-your Highness!”
He gave himself two pumps before entering you slowly, giving you a moment to adjust and then thrusting himself forward to the hilt, then pausing, flipping his hair back to keep it out of his face as he hung over you, completely inside.
You were letting out small, soft whimpers, as you tried to adjust to his size. It was uncomfortable but it hurt in a way that felt good. He didn’t move and you stayed where you were, and he continued to focus on looking at you straight in the eyes.
“No, call me Illumi.”
“Illu..mi,”  you complied, still breathless.
“Good,” he said, as he started to pick up speed.
The moment seemed to last forever, as your euphoria continued to rise and rise, and he thrust harder and harder inside of you, as if he intended to make a royal descendant that very night. The room was filled with your whimpers and moans, and soon, he let out very soft groans as he finally reached his limit. Your coil snapped first and you released, your vagina seeming to milk him of all he had. Then his final thrust came, and he tipped over as well, filling you to overflow with his royal semen.
He parted from you, and rolled beside you, not saying a word. He didn’t hold you, but existing, in the bed with him, somehow felt like enough. He was the emperor, it could be more transactional than that, but it wasn’t. He had held you, and had put his lips to yours. It was enough for now. You’d only be one of many.
But you were still curious.
“Why me?”
“Why not you?”
You felt your face grow warm. It was as good an answer as any other. He was the emperor, he could do whatever he wanted. You wondered if you were done.
He got up and walked over to a chest, placed far away from the bed you’d both soiled with sweat and body fluid. You sat up, watching him, curious as to what he was doing. If he would leave, or have you escorted out.
He pulled out something small in his hand that you couldn’t see.
“Turn around,” he ordered.
You obeyed, and he knelt behind you on the bed, his fingers in your hair, affixing the top of your hair into a high bun, then securing it with whatever he had in hand.
Before you finally drifted off to sleep, you took a peek at the mirror across the room to observe his handiwork; little did you know, he had placed a seal in your hair designating you as his - a single, round-capped yellow pin.

Secretly Broken - Pt. 4 (Final)
Jared x Reader
Summary: When your best friend asked you to be a nanny for his kids, you jumped at the opportunity. You didn’t have much going on in your career, so it seemed like the perfect way to keep making money while you looked for your next job. Things take a turn, though, when you realize that keeping your feelings for Jared at bay isn’t as easy as you thought. Not only that, you would never want to come between him and his wife. While you are doing your best to keep your feelings secret, Jared has a secret of his own.
Warnings: fluff, angst
A/N: So because I think Gen is awesome, for the sake of what is happening in this fic, Jared married someone else. Kids names are the same, though :)
Honestly, this is based on a dream I had. So…idk. Apparently I love Jared.

You
You taped the note to the Padalecki’s door, stepping back to make sure it stuck before you turned to leave.
Tears slipped down your cheeks as you hopped in the cab, directing the driver to the airport.
You thought over the words you’d written, sniffling to yourself as the car began to move.
Jare,
I can’t be your nanny anymore. I love the kids—God I love them—but I can’t stay and mess up your life and your family any more.
You all mean the world to me. I’ve added the phone number to a trusted friend who can nanny for you until you find my replacement.
Y/N
Tumblr media
Jared
Jared folded the piece of paper he was holding, letting out a sigh. He shoved it in his pocket, pushing down his disappointment as Tom came into the room.
“Daddy, when will Y/N be here?” he asked.
“I’m not sure, bud,” he responded, ruffling his son’s hair. It was unusual for you to be late, and Jensen was coming over soon to go out with him.
“Hey, Paddles,” Jensen called as he let himself in.
“Hey, man,” he replied as he saw the man coming into the living room.
“Someone left a note on your door,” he said, holding out an envelope. Jared took it, tearing it open with a curious look. Jensen continued into the house, sitting down on the couch while Jared began to read.
He felt his heart drop into his stomach.
“No…” he said quietly.
“What?” Jensen asked with concern.
“Boys, go get ready for bed,” he said, thankful that Odette was already down for the night. “I’ll be up to tuck you in soon.”
Tumblr media
His sons listened, telling their uncle Jensen goodnight before racing up the stairs.
“Jare, what is it? You’re scaring me,” Jensen said, pulling Jared to sit next to him on the couch. Jared let him, plopping down on the couch since his legs didn’t seem to want to hold him up anyway.
“S-She’s gone,” he said finally, his eyes scanning the note over and over.
“Who? Natalie?” Jensen asked, taking the letter from him.
“No...well, yes, but no…” Jared trailed off, letting Jensen read the note for himself.
“Y/N? But why?” he asked as he finished reading.
“I really don’t know,” Jared replied, running his hands through his hair.
“Well did you guys have a fight? Is something going on with the kids?” Jensen prodded.
“I don’t think so, man. I mean, Natalie came home the other night, and I was trying to comfort Y/N. She seemed like she was having a bad day. I was hugging her, and after I went to talk to Natalie I came downstairs and Y/N was gone.”
“Oh,” Jensen replied as if he understood now why you left.
“What?” Jared asked, still confused.
“Well based one what she wrote, she didn’t want to get in the way of your marriage.”
“What? How?” Jared asked, shocked.
“Dude, c’mon,” Jensen replied.
“What?”
“The chemistry between you and Y/N is obvious. And with what you told me...hugging her? The way you always flirt? I’m guessing it was hard for her not to read into it.”
“Fuck,” Jared said, realization hitting him like a freight train.
“Yeah. You screwed up,” Jensen said. “And Y/N is kinda right, man. You really shouldn’t have been like that with her. You’re married.”
“No, I’m not,” Jared said, standing up and pacing the room.
“What?” Jensen asked, confused.
“I’m not married. Natalie and I have been divorced for months,” he explained. Jensen stared at him with an open mouth. “Things have been bad between us for a long time. But she didn’t want any bad publicity for her movie.”
“That’s selfish,” Jensen remarked.
“No shit. I learned a lot about her after she got this role,” Jared said, shaking his head. “And to top it all off, just before you got here I was reading something I got in the mail,” he said, fishing the folded paper out of his pocket. He handed it to his best friend.
“She’s giving up custody?” Jensen said, looking up from the paper with wide eyes.
“Yeah. Not only was she a shitty wife, she also doesn’t seem to care about the kids.”
“Wow, Jare. Why didn’t you tell me any of this?” Jensen asked.
“I didn’t tell anyone. I didn’t want it to accidentally get out to the kids before I could properly tell them.” He chuckled dryly. “I have no idea how I’m going to tell them this now.”
Jensen sighed. “Okay, regardless of all this shit with Natalie...what about Y/N?”
Jared closed his eyes, sighing. “I can’t lose her, Jay. Not after everything.”
Jensen nodded solemnly. “Do you love her?”
“To be honest, I hadn’t let myself think about it,” he responded, sitting down on the couch again. He bit his lip, trying to hold back the tears he could feel stinging his eyes. “But if how I’m feeling now is any indication...yes. I love her.”
Tumblr media
You
“Have you lost your fucking mind?!”
“Hi, Danneel,” you said into the phone as you pulled the speaker away from your ear.
“What the fuck, Y/N? You leave town without telling any of us, just a lame note stuck to Jared’s door?”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to try to stop me.”
“Yeah, and I would’ve! You are being stupid!” she said, exasperated.
“Danneel, you know that I appreciate you being blunt with me usually, but this is not fun.”
“Why did you leave? Because of your crush?”
“Yes! He just...he’s affectionate. And for him, it just being friendly. For me, though, it means more. And Natalie fucking walked in while he was hugging me and I’m sure I’m just causing problems for their marriage. I am not going to do that.”
She sighed. “Natalie is never fucking there,” she said slowly. “You are. And by the way, he is heartbroken that you left.”
“H-He is?”
“You really need to talk to him, Y/N,” she said. You felt like there was something she wasn’t telling you.
“What’s going on, Danneel?” you asked.
“Just...talk to him. Please.”
Tumblr media
Your finger hovered over the call button, Jared’s contact information shining from your phone.
You were terrified. You’d left like a coward, and you knew he was probably furious that you’d left him with just a note.
You sighed, leaning back into the couch at your parent’s house. You’d gone there after leaving Austin, needing to clear your head and get out of town for a while.
You finally tapped your phone, the line ringing as you held your breath.
“Y/N?” Jared answered, sounding almost breathless.
“Hi,” you said weakly.
“Hi,” he responded. He didn’t sound angry. He sounded sad.
“I’m sorry I left. I just...couldn’t be there anymore.” you said after a silence.
“You could’ve talked to me,” he responded.
“No, I couldn’t. It would have ruined everything.”
“Y/N, Natalie and I are divorced.”
Your eyes widened as you took in the information. “W-What?”
“It’s been a few months. We were keeping it a secret so the press didn’t find out,” he said, almost scoffing.
“B-But what about the kids?” you asked, immediately concerned for how they were taking it.
He chuckled a little bit, which confused you.
“They’re okay,” he said quietly. “I explained it the best I could, and they seemed to understand. They weren’t exactly close with her.”
“Jared, if I did anything to—“
“Stop. You didn’t do anything wrong. Natalie was what was wrong. We were wrong from the beginning. She...she gave up custody of the kids.”
You gasped. You couldn’t understand how anyone could do that. They were the three most perfect children you’d ever met.
“You see?” he said resolutely. “Your first thought was to worry about the kids. I can tell, even without seeing your face that you’re horrified that she gave them up.” He paused. “I should have told you a long time ago, Y/N.”
“I get it, Jare. You didn’t want it getting out.”
“No, Y/N. I should have told you a long time ago...I’m in love with you. I have been for years.”
Your mouth dropped open. “Y-You love me?”
“Yes. What I felt for Natalie always paled in comparison to what I feel for you. I love you.”
“I...I love you, too,” you said. “So, so much.”
“Good,” he replied. You could almost hear his smile. “Then come outside.”
You felt a smile spread across your face. You rushed to the front door, wrenching it open. You saw Jared standing at the end of the driveway, his car a few feet behind him.
“I guess Danneel told you where I was,” you said, still talking into the phone.
“I may have had to threaten her,” he said, a smirk on his face. You threw your phone on the grass in front of you, rushing down the sidewalk. You leapt as soon as you got to him, jumping into his arms and wrapping your legs around his waist. You hugged him as tight as you could, his hand cradling the back of your neck.
You pulled back, his lips crashing into yours. It was everything you’d been wanting for years. His lips melded perfectly to yours, your tongues dancing as you slowly slid down until you were standing in front of him.
Tumblr media
When you pulled apart he reached a hand up, tucking your hair behind your ear.
“Will you come home to our family?” he asked.
You nodded, unable to stop your smile. “Do the boys hate me?” you asked, knowing you should never have left them.
“They could never hate you. They have been asking about you nonstop, though.” He cupped your cheek. “They haven’t asked about Natalie once. You know why?”
You shook your head.
“Because you have been more of a mother to them than she is even capable of.”
“I love them, Jare. All three of them. You are my family.”
“Let’s go home,” he said, smiling. You kissed him again, standing on your toes to reach his lips.
Later, as you walked in the door to his house, the boys ran to hug you.
“Y/N! You’re back! We missed you!” Tom yelled, practically jumping up and down.
“I missed you too, Tom,” you responded, your heart nearly breaking. Jensen had been watching the kids and gave you a big smile as he carried Odette in from the living room.
“Are you staying?” he asked.
You looked to Jared, who had taken Odette from Jensen.
“As long as you’ll have me,” you replied, your eyes never leaving Jared’s.

“Come Be My Wife”
Tumblr media
Genre: ♕ / ♤ / ♘
Warnings: Jealousy, jealous Jungkook au, Jungkook being a pain in the a**, Jungkook loves to control, Jungkook hurting y/n 😭
Word count: 1086
Teaser: "You wanna be my wife?!" Jungkook asked pushing you on the bed. "Come be my wife, come on strip. Let's do what you want." He harshly spat his words as he untied his bow tie.
Part 1 - Part 2
Tumblr media
" How many times do I have to tell you not to wear these kind of clothes when you go out, Huh? and why did you even come to my company. I have told you several times to not go there." Jungkook kept talking and talking, while you just stood there waiting for him to end his long speech. He had a party at his company for reuniting with his old friend's company once again. He told you to not attend that party but you being yourself, you disobeyed his command. And this is what led to your current situation.
"Are you done yet?" you asked, looking at Jungkook with a bored expression on your face. You had both of your hands placed on her waist, while your gaze followed Jungkook's hands as they moved from a place to another. One time he would place them on each side of his hips, and the other he would motion them in front of your face to show you how mad he is.
Jungkook and you are married. People would think that you never argue or fight with each other because of how lovely you look with each other. But sadly people don't know the sad reality behind your relationship. In fact your relationship could of have been considered as a perfect one. You guys were deeply in love with each other and used to solve your problems wisely and without fighting, but everything changed from the first night you got married....
Tumblr media
Flashback
"You may kiss the bride" the priest announced. Jungkook stepped one step ahead. He grabbed you from your waist and pulled you towards him. He leaned his face in and placed a kiss on your forehead. His gaze moved toward your eyes as he admired them with his owns. His eyes were full of love and affection.
Everybody cheered for you which made both of you turn back to the attendees with a big smile curved on your lips.
Time went by and it was time for the bride and the groom to head to their house. Both of you entered your bedroom, but stood still not knowing what to do next. The atmosphere was somehow awkward, which made both of them become nerves even more. Jungkook cleared his throat and calmly walked towards you. He grabbed you from your waist and pulled you towards his body. "Finally mine," he whispered, taking a sniff of your scent after he nuzzled into your neck. Jungkook was about to reach the zipper of your dress but the ring tone of the ringing phone stopped him from doing so.
a "what" escaped his mouth after he picked up his phone, telling you that it's an important call. "Y/n!! I have to go!" Jungkook suddenly announced rushing to your side. "W-what?! Why? did something happen. is everybody Ok?!" you asked a worried expression took over your face upon seeing Jungkook's unexplained rashness.
"Nothing happened babe. I will be back soon don't worry." Jungkook said grabbing his black jacket on his way out. That night Jungkook came back around 3:00 am. You stayed up until that time, and when Jungkook finally came back, you ran to him asking him if he was ok. And what did you get?! A cold "I am tired, I wanna sleep".......
and from that day until now Jungkook have never told you what happened that night. He turned to a person as cold as an ice. He kept ignoring you. When he leaves you alone at early mornings he tells you that he has work to do. When he comes back at late nights he tells you that he is tired and doesn't want to talk about anything. He even hasn't slept with her in one room......
Tumblr media
Present
"Did you even listen to what I said" Jungkook said moving few steps towards you. "yeah, I did. But I am going to say it one more time that it is non of your business. Why do you care?!" you yelled the last sentence, moving away from Jungkook and straight towards the bathroom.
"Wait," He said, grabbing you from your shoulders. "Look at me." he ordered, moving few steps to stand in front of you. "listen. Whatever happens you're my wife. And I hated when guys see you like this." Jungkook further stated, his gaze locked with hers.
"Just on paper." you stated coldly looking at Jungkook. "This again!! What do you want me to do for you to become a good husband? Huh?!"  Jungkook asked, as his grip on your shoulders tightened. " This is not how I imagined our marriage life would be. We were supposed to wake up in each others embrace every morning. I was supposed to prepare breakfast for you everyday. We were supposed to take care of each other. We were supposed to tell each other about how did our day go. We were supposed to be a happy couple. Jungkook!! We don't even sleep in one bed!"
Jungkook's head quickly turned towards you.  He inhaled a deep breath, and his body shook as he exhaled it. Jungkook's hand came down to both of his sides as he turned his head to the other side, away from you. Jungkook closed his eyes, trying to calm down but what you stated next, made him open his eyes wide.
"This is not what you call as a husband and a wife. I am not you wife Jungkook." you said, your gaze still piercing into his owns. You were still looking at him. You noticed how Jungkook's expression changed to a sharp one. But you didn't care, you had enough of his doings.
"Fine!!" He said making a confused look appear on you face. "W-what" you asked stuttering still confused about what he said. Jungkook suddenly grabbed you from your upper arm and pulled you towards the bed that was placed in the middle of the room. "You wanna be my wife?!" Jungkook asked, pushing you on the bed. "Come be my wife, come on strip. Let's do what you want." He harshly spat  his words as he untied his tie.
Tears willed up in your eyes. "I-I don't believe you." you stuttered m, standing up from the bed. "I HATE YOU!" you further stated, your hand landing on Jungkook's cheeks. Jungkook's head turned to the other side as the sound of the slap echoed in the room. His heart clinched. "Y-y/n?!" Your name came out as a whimper.

Then Comes Marriage
Tom was clapping the last of the flour from his hands and turning off the ovens when he heard the knock at the door.
"Could you get that?" Sabine asked as she walked past, her arms full of cash register drawers. "It's probably Adrien."
"He's been coming here a lot. I wonder why." He wiggled his eyebrows at his wife, who just smiled.
They both knew why Adrien had come by almost every day for the past two weeks. They knew why he smiled at Marinette the way he did, and why his eyes softened as he stared at her when he thought no one was looking. What they didn't know was why it had started so suddenly. Something had changed between the two of them.
Tom removed his apron and flung it over one shoulder as he answered the door.
"Hello, Mr. Dupain," Adrien said. The skinny young man smiled up at him and waved, his other arm tucked into his side and his shoulders hunched, like he was nervous about something.
"I thought I'd finally convinced you to call me Tom."
"Oh, uh... yes, sir. Tom." Adrien fidgeted on the front step until Tom backed away from the door and held it open. Something was up.
"Marinette's not here quite yet, dear," Sabine said, coming up beside him. "She's still out with Alya."
"Oh, I know." He glanced between them, then rubbed the back of his neck anxiously. "I actually had something I wanted to ask you."
Tom and Sabine looked at each other. Well, they were only sixteen. Too young to be asking for Marinette's hand, but Tom supposed he'd give his blessing anyway. Like he could stop Marinette if that's what she really wanted.
"Would it- would it be okay with you both if I asked her out?"
Sabine was the one who started laughing first. "You don't have to ask for permission."
"Unless you're asking her to marry you," Tom added.
Adrien's eyes unfocused, seeing something far away that made him smile, before snapping back to stiff attention. "N-no marriage proposals today."
So tomorrow then? Tom thought. The boy was jumpy enough, so he kept that comment to himself.
Marinette wasn't due home for another ten minutes, so Adrien put his nervous energy into helping them close up. Instead of wiping the counter, he scoured it with tight circles. When he was asked to check to make sure all the ovens were off and the leftovers marked as day-old, he checked everything twice. And every time he passed the door or windows, he craned his neck to see if she was about to come in, bouncing on his toes.
After about five minutes of this, Sabine stopped him to brush some flour off his shoulder and get him to slow down. "She's going to say yes. Don't look so worried."
"You think so?"
Sabine patted his cheek before turning back to sweep the floor some more.
Adrien shuffled out of the way of the broom, muttering to himself. "Will you go out with me, Marinette?" "Mari, I want to take you on a date, if that's okay?" "I would love if it maybe you wanted-"
When Marinette finally sashayed through the door, Adrien's mumbling came to a stuttering halt. The look was back, the tender one that made Tom so happy for his daughter.
"Hi, Adrien!" As quick as a lightning strike, she hugged his arm and backed away, still not sure of what lines she was allowed to cross.
Tom huffed loudly. "No hello for your dear parents? Or were you just distracted by other-"
"Hello to you too, Papa." Marinette hid her blush by giving her mother a hug.
Over Marinette's head, Sabine glared up at him. Don't push them and mess this up, she seemed to say. I want them to start dating too much.
Tom knew how to take a hint. He also knew how to give a couple of teenagers some privacy. "Well, my dear, we've got a couple more day-old loaves to mark. We should check it out."
"No," Adrien said. "I finished-"
The look Tom gave him killed the sentence.
"Oh. I mean, yeah, I think I missed a few." Adrien's eyes found Sabine, then the door to the kitchen, then the floor, and after they'd run out of easier places, they rested on Marinette. He was never going to get anywhere avoiding her like that, but before Tom could "accidentally" bump them into each other, Sabine's small hand found his and lead him into the kitchen. The door snapped shut behind them.
Sabine's shoes squeaked on the tile floor as she listened at the door. She didn't leave much room for him, so Tom did the next best thing: walked right into his wife's space and pinned her entire tiny body against the door. The sharp elbow in his stomach barely tickled.
"Oh, sorry," Tom said, pushing his ear to the door. "Didn't see you down there."
"Will you get off?" she hissed. "We're going to miss it!" She wriggled out from under him, and Tom moved to the side just in time to hear more of Adrien's stuttering pleasantries. He was still asking about her day? Did she have fun with Alya?
Come on! That was no way to ask a girl out. Tom didn't want to intervene, but he would if he had to.
Adrien continued to stumble over simple questions and mix up words. "Glad you hear fun had you." And "How was the walked?" And a desperate, "So is there anything else you want to talk about? Anything at all?"
"He's so nervous," Sabine whispered. "I hope he's not feeling too embarrassed."
"Well…"
"I don't want to hear the rest of that sentence," Sabine hissed.
Ah, so nice to be married to someone who knew him well enough to tell just from his tone not to trust his intentions. He grinned impishly. "We can always go back in there and do something even more embarrassing. Take the pressure off him, you know."
"Tom, please don't do that."
Adrien's next sentence was softer and muffled, but it silenced them both. "There was actually something important I wanted to ask you."
Marinette's voice was even lower, barely audible through the door. "My parents are probably listening."
Adrien chuckled. "That's fine. They already know."
Marinette didn't answer, and Tom could imagine her questioning eyebrow as she waited for Adrien to ask his question.
Tom and Sabine waited a little less patiently, pushing against the door until it squeaked a little, breaths held.
Adrien's next words came out in rush. "Date, will you Mari me?"
"WHAT?" Marinette shrieked.
"Oh, no," Sabine moaned.
"So much for not proposing today, though I still say they're a little young."
"Tom!"
In the other room, Adrien was not doing a good job of fixing his slip-up. "No, I mean- Mari, date me! That sounds terrible. Let me start over. Please, will you go on a marriage with me! WAIT, NO!"
Sabine dropped her head against the door in sympathetic defeat. "Poor dears."
"No, we can save this!"
"Don't you dare!"
Tom pulled open the door. His shirt caught a little as his wife tried to reel him back in, but it was too late. It was drastic action time.
"Tom!"
He wrapped an arm around each teenager, lifting them up easily. "Of course she will!"
"PAPA!"
They both spluttered as he kissed them each on the head. "We'll be the happiest in-laws ever. Won't we, dear?"
Two pairs of legs flailed as they searched in vain for the ground, while Tom watched their faces carefully. They both were bright red, but they'd been like that when he'd open the door. And neither could look at him. Instead, they shot incredulous looks at each other. (Though Marinette's had a tinge of "I apologize for being related to this person. Please forgive me.") That was a good sign. Mission accomplished.
"Well then, what's your answer, Marinette?" Tom asked.
"Y-yes," she squeaked. "I'd love to."
Tom didn't need to pretend to be embarrassing anymore. He swung them around in a circle in joy. Marinette had wanted this for so long. And Adrien was a nice kid who deserved to be happy.
When he finally put them down, Sabine wasted no time in dragging back to the kitchen and banging the door behind them. "Are you done now?"
"Maybe."
"Oh, let them have their peace."
She left him by the door, off to clean utensils or take stock of ingredients or inventory or whatever it was they should have been doing at the moment. Tom hung back, listening again.
"Sorry my dad is such a goof."
"I'm just glad I'm not the only one," Adrien said. "Sorry I messed up."
"It's fine."
Two soft footsteps. If Tom knew his daughter, which he liked to think that he did, she had probably just stepped forward to grab Adrien's hand.
"It's fine," she said. "I'm happy you asked. And yes, I'd love to."
Adrien's laugh was half happiness and half relieved sigh. "Yes to which one? I kinda asked you two things. W-wait, no. Yes to the first question? I mean, no, the second one." He groaned.
Tom felt he'd interfered enough for one day. Marinette could untangle that mess of Adrien's words on her own. He backed away, but not before he heard her quiet reply.
"Both?"

Ps: Thinking about part 2 to this, whatcha think? ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your father was a douchebag. Plain and simple. He had bought your mother from your grandfather and he had sold your older sisters to men twice their age. Now that you were 18, it was your turn. You were extremely close to your sister, Anne. She was the third oldest and the last to leave you alone with your two younger half brothers. She was the most like you and always fought back the men who came to bid on her like property. Sadly, a man came by and easily found it charming. She always said to never give in, figure out what they want and do the opposite. You’d be successful only until dad finds a man who doesn’t give a damn at all. They were out there, but your father had failed nearly a thousand times already.
Since your birthday, at least three men have come to your house to try to court you. In fact, that’s what your birthday present was, a rich man named Tony Stark there to court you. He worked as a CEO on the upper east side for a well known tech company. He was loaded, and your father wanted in. You figured out Tony like proper and well spoken ladies, someone to show off at his expensive Galas filled with people who spoke seven different languages. So, you acted a slob. Spilled your fancy tea all over yourself and his prestine suit, mispoke several words, use vulgar language, and acted painfully stupid. Tony marched right out and your father made you kneel in rice until your knees bled. It was worth the pain.
It’s been six months and your father was unsuccessful. You have never seen your sisters since their marriage and you missed them, especially Anne. You didn’t want to end up a housewife somewhere with no say in anything. When your mom died your father quickly remarried, it was as if your mother meant nothing to him. You’d be damned if that happened to you. If you were going to get married, it’d be for love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Wake up, you have a visitor.” Your father shook you awake. You rubbed your eyes and looked to your father, he was already smoking a cigar even though it was 8am. You groaned and got out of bed, walking to your closet, pulling out a t-shirt and jeans.
“Oh no, you can go out like that.” Your father pointed to your sleep shorts that showed off your legs and cupped your ass perfectly; your top was a thin tank top that showed your hardening nipples. You rolled your eyes and started walking to your door, shouldering your way past your father.
You walked into the living room and saw a man standing there with his back to you facing the window. His arms were folded and you saw one sparkling in the light, he had a metal arm. You gasped at it and stopped in your tracks. The man turned to you and the corners of his mouth threatened to rise. He was hot. His hair was pinned out of his face in a man bun, he wore navy blue dress pants and a white button up dress shirt that had he rolled to his elbows. His eyes were as bright as the diamonds the strange men bring to you in order to try to buy your love.
“Mr. Barnes, my daughter. Daughter, Mr. Barnes.” The way your father said daughter bit at your nerves. He knew introducing you with a title rather than your name made you feel inferior, as if that’s the only thing there was to know about you. You glared at your father before turning back to Mr Barnes. He extended his flesh hand to you.
“Pleased to meet you. I doubt your name is daughter, though.”
He smiled at you, but it didn’t meet his eyes. You took his hand and faked a smile. “Mmmhm, it’s not. Y/n will do just fine.” Mr. Barnes shook your hand before gesturing to the couch.
“Take a seat, let’s get to know each other.” At that your father excused himself, but not before casting you a warning look. You smirked back at him before taking your seat next to Mr. Barnes. “So, how old are you?”
“97, just a few years younger than you.” You bit at him. You always lead with sarcasm, if they laughed they were serious and you’d have to become boring. If they didn’t that means you had to continue being “unladylike.”
Mr. Barnes eyebrows shot up before he laughed a bit. It wasn’t real, he was uncomfortable. He was easy to read, you had this in the bag.
“Alright, I see why you’re so uptight. I wouldn’t like it if men were to come in and try to buy me either. Believe it or not, I used to hate this practice.”
“Yet you’re willingly here and seem to be enjoying it.” You cocked your head to the side, your smart mouth making him shift a bit.
“My younger sisters have been victims of this trade,” Mr.Barnes ignores you, “I always said I wouldn’t do it. As time has gone on, no woman of value isn’t being bargained off. You should be lucky your father cares for you so much, the ones who aren’t cared for are just thrown out into the world.”
“Grateful? My father sold my sisters like livestock for a couple millions and I haven’t seen any of them in years! This “bargaining” system is destroying families and is never created equal. What do the men and young boys suffer? What do they lose? They can still go see their family. They still have freedom.” Your voice raised, the audacity that these men had always blew your mind. They didn’t understand and never would, so why did they try to sit there and try to make you? They saw how unhappy their sisters and mothers were, yet they continued on with this bullshit for generations. If you ever were married off and had a son, you’d beg him to stop the cycle. You’d try even harder to protect your daughter.
Mr. Barnes sighed and sat up a bit more. “I’m sorry doll, I didn’t mean to upset you. I meant it as a compliment, honest.” You crossed your arms and glared at him. He looked apologetic but you didn’t care. You weren’t here to be nice, you were there to survive as long as you possibly could.
“Well, Mr. Barnes, your intentions don’t seem to have worked out, did they?” You raised your chin and said his name with a poison that even stunned you. There’s no way he’s gonna want you.
“My real name is James, sorry for the formicality,” Mr.Barnes was suddenly smiling and standing up. He crossed to the door that separated the living room and the main area in your house. Where your father was sitting on the other side. What just happened?
You lookedon with curious eyes as James opened the door and called for your father. He was still smiling and your father rushed over, angry eyes finding yours before turning soft at James when he saw his beaming face. “We have a deal, sir” He shook your father’s hand while your jaw dropped. Fuck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two million dollars. That’s how much you’re worth apparently. You don’t know where you went wrong, but being a brat was only going to work so many times. James apparently didn’t mind at all that you had a mouth, in fact he was telling your father how much he loved it. He said while looking for a wife he pretended to be proper so that when the girls acted the way they thought he wanted them to, boring in his opinion, he knew they weren’t for him. You, on the other hand, spoke your mind and were feisty. It ignited a flame James believed was dead.
You looked on with glossed over eyes as you say your belongings being packed away and set in a moving truck. It was mostly irreplaceable objects such as photos and your favorite clothing. James promised to buy you new things and to add a new wardrobe. He must’ve been loaded because after dropping that much he still promised so much more. Lucky girl you were.
You signed a paper while a ring decorated your finger and numbly kissed James on the lips to seal your marriage. He wore a similar band on his left hand finger. “Congratulations, may your marriage be filled with joy, blah blah blah.” Your father blabbered while he sucked on another cigar and counted the money James had given him.
James took you to his house. It was a humble suburban home on the outskirts of New York, much different than your penthouse in the city. There was a white picket fence and freshly trimmed grass decorating the outside. “We’re home, doll.” James cut the engine of his BMW, putting his hand on your thigh. You changed into a short blue summer dress that complimented your skin tone and brown wedges. You looked like your mom and every other dutiful wife you’d known.
You stepped out of the car and looked up at the house that you’d be spending the rest of your life. The sky was clear and beautiful but you felt the depressive clouds that rained over cul de sac, drenching their housewives. The weight these women held, loving the men who cheated, hated, and abused them. James came up behind you and pulled your waist so that you leaned on him. He kissed your cheek and looked into your eyes. “I can’t wait for us to fill the rooms in the house. I can see it now, two kids a boy and a girl. Maybe more if it feels right.” Your stomach churned at the thought. You didn’t want kids with him. But it didn’t matter, when you signed your name you signed away your happiness. The light had gone out in your soul.
“Yes dear.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two years into your marriage felt like a decade. Every day was the same: wake up, make breakfast, see James off to work, clean, shower and look pretty for James, cook dinner, welcome James home, eat dinner and ask James about his day, have sex, and go to sleep. The sex at first was painful and he was never gentle. He was never lovey dovey, never brought flowers, just wanted a one-sided relationship.
You always went to visit his family and friends on holidays or you hosted his family and friends at your house. You hadn’t seen your family and, even though you hated your dad and never really talked with your stepmom and brothers, you missed them for the similarity. You were missing your brothers growing up, one was three when you left the other was six. You asked once to see your sisters and James merely shrugged it off. “You would only bother them” he reasoned, “They’re busy running a household like you. They don’t have time for useless small talk.”
Today it wasn’t your alarm that woke you up. It was the vomit that was rising in your stomach, pushing its way out of your mouth. You ran to your bathroom and puked in the toilet. You continued gagging and dry heaving when everything was out of your tummy. James walked in rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and yawning. “What’s wrong, honey?”
“N-nothing, dear. I’m sorry for waking you.”
James shook his head and walked closer to you. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah, I think I just ate something.”
James frowned. “We eat the same thing, have for years. You always skip lunch because it ruins your appetite for dinner. I’m not feeling sick.” His lips showed signs of cracking a smile as he bit his finger, pretending to ponder what could be going on.
You knew what he meant. It had been two years of sensless fucking. Like you had held out on marriage your body had held out on pregnancy, but just like your marriage to james, your body had come to a point that it could no longer fight.
James opened up the medicine cabinet behind the mirror and pulled out a pink box. He reached in and pulled out to reveal two white sticks. He handed them to you. “Take them.”
You reached out and took the sticks, starting to pull your pants down so you could pee. Thirty minutes later, James’ phone timer rang and he looked at the sticks. His face scrunched as pure joy took over his features. He held the sticks out to you. “We’re pregnant!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had just gotten done with your baby shower and you were now sitting down for a break before you would get up and start cleaning. You rubbed your sore back and nine month old belly. Baby boy was bigger than normal, James said it was because of his special genes. James was saying bye to his best friend, Steve, before he shut the door and turned to you. Of course, nobody you were close with was at the party, just James’ family and close friends. He did say he had phones your father to tell him the news, but he failed to send even a card. You had grown to not expect much or feel sad for the neglect you got emotionally from your husband or your father.
James made his way to you, he was still smiling. “Not much longer, doll. We’ll be meeting this big guy any day now.” He rubbed your belly before grabbing your hand, pulling you up to stand despite your pain. “Dance with me.” You both danced to music that wasn’t playing and you felt your son kick. You smiled, the light you thought you’d lost was slowly lighting again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The contractions were horrible. Nothing you had ever felt before. You were screaming and clutching James’ hand as you were being wheeled into the hospital room. Nurses and doctors poked and prodded at your skin, asking you questions you weren’t capable of answering due to the immense pain you were feeling. Your legs were propped up and James moved closer to you, still holding your hand. The doctor came to stand between your legs before sitting in a chair. He nodded to James while you sobbed out as a new wave of pain washed over you. “Alright, Mrs. Barnes, push.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your schedule was thrown off balance a bit, you had a newborn now. You still did the majority of the things the same, wake up, make breakfast, get James Jr, or Bucky as a nickname, and feed him, see James off to work, clean up, bathe and dress Bucky, clean and dress yourself up, make lunch because it was important for breastfeeding now, walk around to settle Bucky for a nap, cook dinner, greet James, feed Bucky, get him ready for bed, have sex with James, and sleep yourself.
You loved your son unconditionally, he slept in the crib next to you and James’ bed for now. “Easier access” James had said. You didn’t mind, you were closer with the love of your life.
James held your wrists in one hand as he thrusted into you, his hips crushing into yours at fast and hard rhythm that was sure to leave bruises. His moans and skin slapping skin was the only thing you could hear in the room, Bucky was sleeping soundly.
“Fuck, your pussy is so good for me. Still so tight, even after Bucky. Shit I’m gonna cum, gonna fill you up so you can give me a girl. Can you do that for me?”
“Yes, James.”
“Mmm, good girl. My good girl.” James finished inside you, grunting in the process. He rolled over and released a long breath. “You’re such a good mom, doll. Such a good wife.” He sleepily rambled. You hummed in response and rolled over to face Bucky, watching as his tiny hands scrunched into fists and his steady breaths caused his chest to rise and fall. His light blue and grey onesie and matching hat barely fit, he was growing faster than you thought any baby did. You’d ask James to buy more soon. Maybe he would let you go too, picking out baby clothes for your son would make you so happy. You’d work towards it, make James’ favorite meal and might even throw in a few blowjobs.
Bucky’s face started to contort and he soon started to fuss, his pacifier falling out of his mouth. You looked at the time and knew it was time for his feeding. He ate a lot but that’s just what a growing boy like him needed, plenty of food. You picked him up before he could wake James and guided him to your nipple. He stopped crying and started sucking, looking at you with big blue eyes like his father. You let you fist wrap around your finger as you slightly rocked and quietly hummed. Bucky was the light you needed in your life. He made your soul glow again, and he gave you hope for the future. Hidden in the dressure was money you were slowly stealing from James. Five dollars here, another ten there. By this time next year you’d have enough money to leave with your son Bucky. You’d leave with your sisters to live in a house Anne had found in Germany.
Bucky let go of your breast and cooed. He looked at you with sleepy eyes as he let out a small yawn. You smiled. “With every heartbeat I have left, I will defend your last breath.” You promised your son. He was the light, and you felt you could sleep peacefully at last knowing he was right there with you.

"greek-Bros: The Return of an Old Enemy"
Chapter 9: The 'War' Room
It was approximately high noon, the Dionysian Games were at their peak, all was well for the residents of Delphi except for one. Dionysus was in his competitors tent near the game field, explaining to Hermes the whole situation. Dionysus had agreed to a challenge that had now put Delphi and Ariadne in a compromising situation, if Ares won the joust he would take everything from the land to sleeping with his beloved wife.
Dionysus was laying on a pile of pillows, deeply remorseful of his string of terrible decisions. "I can't believe I would put Ariadne in this situation I really am like dad!", he sobbed, "WHY the fuck did I even agree to this?!", he continued while crying into his pillow. Hermes sat next to him, patting his back trying to comfort him. He couldn't care too much about how it all happened but he had an idea on how he was going to help.
Hermes laid down on the pillows and let out a relaxed sigh, he already had the plan all mapped out. "Dionysus, you know very well even if Ares does win...I'm not letting him screw you and Ariadne. By the way....is he using his OWN horses for this?", he asked. Ares's chariot was pulled by a trio of horses that would be best described as literal Night Mares, these mystical fire breathing war horses are fast, aggressive and can pull a lot more than Ares's weight.
Dionysus turned, sniffling, "....I'm not sure why?", now he was curious as to what Hermes was planning, "why? What are you going to do?". He was desperate to find some way of winning. It would be devastating if Ariadne found out she was going to be a prize for Ares and lose her kingdom let alone have her husband lose a challenge he decided to enter.
Hermes gave a smirk, inspite of current events he always knew how to make time for anything. "Well, I remember correctly....his horses are pretty tough....if he is using his horses, I could let them out....replace them with some of the horses from here.....I mean...how does wine effect horses.... especially ones that....breath fire?", he asked with a sly grin. He leaped up, pacing back and forth. "We could.....get him drunk, throw him off his game...or...we can go a little more further.", he turned to Dionysus for some approval.
Dionysus was catching on with Hermes's plan. He stood up, "...yeah.....I see where you're going with this....yeah.....but how are we going to get the horses to drink the wine? I mean....you can't just lead a horse to water....also....what if an animal that BREATHES fire....wine is flammable you know...". The two were brainstorming, thinking of ways Ares could be sabotaged. Their brain power would get a boost in the form of someone outside. The two heard the familiar but eloquently frustrated voice of Apollo, demanding to see Dionysus. Dionysus rushes to the tent entrance and opens to see Apollo, talking to one of the satyrs guarding the tent. "Hey man how's it hanging?", Dionysus chimed.
Apollo turned around and the look on his face spoke a thousands that all could translate to "What the HELL did I tell you?!". He marched towards Dionysus, pushes him gently back into the tent to yell at him. "WHY IS THERE AN EVENT GOING ON?!?", he shouted, "I thought I told you to hold off on any parties or anything to make sure the people are safe from what's been going on!". He almost couldn't believe that Dionysus would go the point of risking the Delphians for the sake of having fun.
Dionysus slunked into himself like a turtle going into his shell. "W-well Apollo ol'pal...ugh....wow you are NOT going to believe what else....ugh...Ares is here too....aaaaaand I'm in trouble.....more specifically.... Ariadne is in trouble.", he tried to soften the news but even he knew it wasn't going to quell Apollo's mild fury.
Hermes stepped into help in his own way, "Yeah Dionysus bet his wife, Delphi itself and his patronship of Delphi to Ares if he lost.", successfully making the situation far worse. Apollo's usually fare glowingly pale face was slowly glowing a burning fiery orange with anger, it became hotter in the tent, melting any wax candles and drying any leaves from fruits inside. "Come on Apollo, are you really going to get mad inside of this highly flammable tent with your two favorite brothers in mine?", Hermes charmed Apollo. The hot glow dimmed back into the cooler pale tone he usually had, he knew no matter how angry he got it would be pointless to lose his temper.
Apollo took a deep sigh, sat down to further collect himself. ".....ok...now...what do you plan on doing then?", he asked. He could see both Dionysus and Hermes had a plan, and he knew he wasn't going to like it. "Oh good....it seems you both have something cooked up.", he begrudgingly assumed.
The two stood there looking at Apollo, Hermes walked to a table that had a bottle of wine. "Let's just say, Ares isn't going to drive his chariot straight if his HORSES have been drinking....oh..ugh....DID you see his horses?", he asked. Apollo nodded 'yes', so unfortunately, the plan of forcing Ares's horses to drink the wine would pose a challenge. "Ok, so....we will have to feed the horses something else....spiked fruit?", he suggested. The two looked at Hermes, both couldn't argue against the idea yet they found it to be a usable one.
Dionysus chimed in, "yeah I think I have some marinated apples somewhere. We could feed it to his horses if they don't drink the wine.", he left the tent to look for some at a food tent nearby, leaving the two brothers alone.
Apollo knew that Hermes wasn't here just to enjoy watching Dionysus's fake Olympic games, he had been watching what had been going on in Greece. "Hermes, now that we're alone. What have you seen as of late? Is what I've heard from Artemis true?", Apollo was referring to the wolf man that Hermes and Artemis had encountered. He had recently come in contact with Artemis, whom had come to him to ask about Zeus's whereabouts.
His mischievous demeanor calmed into a somber awareness. Hermes took a deep sigh, he got distracted with Dionysus's issue. He turned to Apollo, "yeah, it was pretty freaky...the thing didn't die on the first shot either. I haven't seen them appear during the day though. I think these creatures only come out of night.", he took off hat hat and scratched his head. "Dionysus was getting a lot of complaints....guess people here can't stand still for long....I can see why he caved in, he doesn't want to disappoint anyone....I can relate, buuuuut honestly the whole situation feels weird.". Hermes felt mildly uncomfortable about his encounter, he had been so use to seeing things die and stay dead, that it had never occurred to him that something could reanimate.
Apollo's stern face loosened up, "Well.....he always seems to listen to his mortal citizens more than me so I'm not sure why I always act surprised.", he relaxed a little but noticed Hermes a little bit worried, "Are you ok? Artemis did mention you didn't take too well to the.... creature.". He could see Hermes look like a someone who saw something he shouldn't.
"it's ok", Hermes replied, "....I just prefer dead things to be dead....that's all.". He turned to the shuffling tent wall and sees Dionysus come in with a jar of fruit pickled in wine. "Ah perfect Dio, I'll take the fruit and wine. Wait here and I'll handle the rest.", Hermes took the jar and an amphora of wine and jetted off, leaving Dionysus and Apollo in the tent.
Dionysus turned to Apollo, "sooooo........ugh....hehe, have you seen the games? Man the folks out there are having fun.", he tried to make it as if he wasn't caring about his dilemma but there was no point, "man I fucked up big time..... fucking Ares, the asshole.... should have asked for someone who wouldn't want to fuck Ariadne.....man I'm a terrible husband.", he slumped on to a pile of pillows. He was still worried about the joust, he was worried about losing Ariadne's trust in him, and above all he was worried if he resembled Zeus in the worst way possible. Dionysus let out a deep sigh, "guess I really am my dad's kid..."
Apollo could hear the hurt in Dionysus's voice, he got closer to him and placed his hand on his back. "Look, you messed up even for your standards.....but you're not a terrible husband, you two are young newlyweds, you've been married for a short amount time and mistakes happen.... don't be THAT hard on yourself. There's still time to fix things....does she know about the bet?", asked Apollo.
"No...she doesn't....and I don't want her to know about ANY of it. If I lose, I lose everything that's important to me....if I win...well...I have yet to see Ares be a good sport about losing....for all I know he'll tell her out of spite", Dionysus replied.
"Oh come now, Ares is a difficult person for sure and he's unbarable at times....but I doubt he will be that level of cruelty. Maybe he was just exaggerating...after all the man is the father of Fear and Terror himself, he would know a thing or two about making people fear him." Apollo reassured him. "Plus, I have no doubt Ariadne would forgive you. You've done quite a lot for her if you remember, she knows you love her and you'd end the world for her.", Apollo hoped his words would at least inspire Dionysus not to consider himself a failure of a husband. After all, he along with Hades, have seemed to have rather successful marriages and to compare one's marriage to Zeus's marriage is surly a blow to one's heart and soul let alone their ego.
Dionysus looked at Apollo and smiled, "....thanks....but I just don't want to mess up anyway.", he got up and took a quick peek outside to see how far into the games the people had gotten through. Unfortunately time wouldn't be on their side, it had seems the Delphians had gone through the whole games and have already started giving out makeshift medals. "GAH! THE GAMES ARE ALMOST DONE!", he loudly panicked, he ran towards the set of armor that he set aside so he can put on for the joust, "OH GODS IM FUCKED! Hermes better be done with what he was doing!", he quickly put on his armor.
"I'll go and distract Ares then, see if I can change his mind about the bet, good luck out there Dionysus.", Apollo quickly left Dionysus in the tent.
"Bye see you later.", Dionysus responded.
Elsewhere, Hermes was at a temporary stable where the horses for the joust. Hermes snuck into the stables in hopes no one noticed him. He looked around and could see Ares's three huge, scary looking chariot horses, he slowly tiptoed to them. The horses noticed his presence, these weren't friendly horses, these horses might as well have been the horses of straight from King Augeas's stable. Hermes took a bowl and pored the wine into it, he raised it to the opening of the stable up to the three horses. In a whispered voice, "...hey there buddies, you want something to take the edge off? Come on, it should smell irresistible.", Hermes was hoping the sweet smelling wine would attract their attention, one of the horses did I fact take a sip from the bowl. It drank the whole thing in a few sips, letting out a loud delighted whinny.
"Hehe, perfect.", Hermes poured another bowl to see if he could give more wine, the same horse drank the wine while the second horse became curious and took a few sips as well. Now all was left was to get the third horse hooked on the wine, but the third horse was different, this one was a stubborn mare that lead the trio while they pull the chariot. She wasn't going to fall for the wine as easily. Hermes took a quick peak at the mare, "c'moooooon, what gives?", he could see she was all the way in the corner, glaring at him while her brothers fought to take the last few sips. As Hermes poured the last of wine into the bowl, he went to take out a wine soaked pealed apple from the jar. He gently tossed to the mare, the other two horses could smell the wine on the apple and tried to go right for it, but the mare reared her head, snorting aggressively. The two other horses stopped, the mare sniffed the apple and took a small nibble.
It took a few seconds for the mare to understand why this apple was spicy, however, she seemed to have liked the spiked fruit and ate it in one bite. She clopped towards Hermes, intimidating him for more apples, he quickly obliged and held the jar to the mare. She shoved her muzzle into the jar, eating a few more bits of alcoholic fruit. Hermes wasn't satisfied yet, he left the jar with the mare and he quickly ran to get two more amphoras of wine. He quickly began to pore more wine for all three horses, the more the three sipped, the relaxed and tipsy they acted. The three swayed back and forth, bumping into each other, loudly snorting and whinnying.
Plan A, was a success. Hermes patted the three horses snouts, knowing damn well he would never have a chance to do this with Ares's horses ever again. "Ok, bye bye.", he darted off to see what Ares was doing, unfortunately, he was more focused than ever, he was now for some reason practicing using his sword on an innocent tree as if he was going to fight Dionysus to the death. "What the fuck is he doing, he isn't going to kill dionysus is he?", Hermes questioned to himself. He suddenly saw Apollo call out to Ares, wanting to have a conversation with him. "Ah oh, this is going to be good....or really bad.", Hermes hoped Apollo was going to help.
