zelda's role is to take up the powers of hylia. zelda has always been a girl, a woman. of course all of them would be. hylia is a goddess. the first zelda was hylia's personal vessel.

botw zelda [ going to call him zel here on out in this post for clarity lol ] would have to come to terms with how his feelings don't align with his self-perceived role. at first, he thinks his yearning to be a boy is more to do with hating his responsibilities. i think his relationship with both his gender and his role in destiny is an incredible complicated one because of all of this.

meeting link, the other destined one, probably really fucks him up more. link being a trans boy himself, on a surface level, one might think would bring zel relief; someone like him, so close to him. but it does the opposite. link has always been a boy. this link, being assigned female at birth, is a boy as well. to zel, this reaffirms his thoughts that destiny has locked their genders into place.

in general, i don't think transphobia is a huge thing in the loz universe. it's like, a very niche kind of bigotry thankfully. it's MY childhood fantasy games and i get to mostly poof it out. i think the big exception to this would be those associated with destiny, prophecies, and of course, the reincarnation cycle.

zel is pressured to not only be a good daughter and princess, but to take on the powers that should be blessed to him by the goddess herself. everything just drives him further into hating everything, including link early on.

a big part of zel being able to actually unlock his powers would be both what i think happens in game [ desperation to protect ] as well as acceptance of himself. zel's inner turmoil over his own identity, where his duty as holder of the triforce of wisdom starts and right to be himself ends.

of course, there's no actual reason for the holder of wisdom to be a woman; as there is none for the holder of courage or power to be a man. it just so happens that it tends to be like that.

i think a retelling like this could add such a strong layer onto zel's character arc. it's so good. augh. thank yuo i hope any of this is somewhat coherent. they kiss in the end

btw i think generally trans masc zeldas go for the name sheik [ thank you OOT sheik you walked so the other tran masc zeldas could run ] but botw zelda specifically would take the scientific name of like, a small critter or plant, and alter it so it sounds kind of like a hylian name. OR just go by 'zel'. or both ! idk.

Hey how was everyone's day, good? Good. I would never come up with a basic story/vibe for a nonexistent zelda game on a whim instead of studying. Nope. Definitely not like I'm writing this post instead of studying or anything.

Hey unrelated what if there was a zelda game where Link and Dark Link had a sort of Link & Midna style relationship and the major themes of the game were about, like, the corrupt side of those in positions of power and how darkness does not equal evil bad bad.

Continued below the cut cause I've written myself into a corner with this pitch-

Dark Link

Dark Link is Midna adjacent, serving a supportive role as a sort of secondary protagonist. Kinda similar to Spirit Tracks zelda in a way, though they could interact with the world a bit more.

This could manifest in a couple of ways, though the first ones that come to mind are possession of armors and stuff (again, spirit tracks as inspo) and a shadow form that's similar to, like, the painting bracelet from Link Between Worlds.

Part of what's happening in my head is that i just want to see Link playfully arguing with his shadow (Dink).

There are also thoughts in my brain about a plot twist so hard it gives the audience whiplash but we'll see (will elaborate later).

Becomes more than just Link's bitter goth clone, developing a personality and both distancing themselves from but becoming closer to link.

Off the top of my head I want this Link to feel similar to Legend (or at least similar to legend's vibe in all too many of the fics I have been reading).

Definitely a magic user. Fire and Ice magic could have fun game mechanics built around them (light and reflections respectively).

Classic green outfit? Maybe with a more naturey vibe.

Darker color scheme, more suited to sneaking

Both Link and Dink have matching flower crowns as part of their outfits (Link has purple and Dink has Yellow).

For some reason I REALLY want a prince in one way or another (transfem or transmasc preferably. Y'know.)

Unable to access triforce but hides it and learned magic in secret to keep appearances.

Still Not Enough, keeps pushing themselves over the healthy limit. Perhaps ends up hurting themself in one way or another.

Maybe the Queen could still be alive but just sleeping beauty'd by the King cause he wanted power.

Major plot twist mentioned in Dink's section is maybe they don't have the triforce of Wisdom at all.

Option A is they actually have the triforce of Power.

Option B is they don't even have a triforce, making every bit of their magical prowess even more impressive.

Definitely not the antagonist

I feel like we're all pretty tired of the whole 'ooh ominous big villain here to kill everyone surely it's a mystery- NOPE ITS GANONDORF AGAIN BABY HAHA.'

I think he should be included somehow though, perhaps even as a triforce holder.

Antihero, possibly? I think I like the vibe of him being a goofy old hermit on the edge of the gerudo highlands with a cute little orchard more though. Of course, these aren't exclusive of each other, but still.

He has no want of power or lust to rule Hyrule, at most he wants to run a little farm.

Possible plot point is him having cut off his triforce bearing hand because he has no want of power and the triforce being a part of him would only bring unwanted attention upon him.

Alternatively, three servants of the golden trio.

They've blocked off Hylia/The Golden Trio's greater connection(s) to the people and land of hyrule, seeking to replace her/them as a god.

sorry if this is a silly question but in trans hyrule is everyone trans? like zelda ganon and beedle too etc

no! #trans hyrule is just what i call the basis of the fic(s) because i haven't got a proper name for it yet. well, i do have ONE idea, but it's kind of ambitious, so i want to do more work on individual smaller projects first before i commit to the megafic.

it's just called that because it focuses on transness, transition & the different types of trans people and how they might live in Hyrule, not because literally every character is trans (though that would rule).

plenty (probably even a majority) of characters will still be cisgender -- or at least presented as perceived to be cisgender by Link at first; many of those characters may eventually reveal "oh no i am actually trans i'm just stealth" (i'm thinking Paya maybe?) or come out part way through the story or whatever (i have a couple of other NPCs lined up for this) because i want to portray a vast variety of trans characters with different identities, experiences & who are at different points in their journey

the three examples you used are interesting though! because i think i have interesting answers for those three specifically.

i think Zelda was assigned female at birth, but doesn't have feel a strong connection to that assigneder gender, & also hasn't (and perhaps won't) really examined that and how she feels about her own gender; i think that maybe if she were really forced to confront with it and identify a certain way she might even identify as agender, but i don't know if i'll depict this happening -- to me this seems like it might be beyond where she is at as a character in BOTW/TOTK, and something she might discover about herself later in life? imho, her own gender couldn't be the furthest thing from her mind so probably doesn't think about it much.

Ganon i think is a cis guy, just because i'm doing other stuff with the Gerudo, and i think it's actually really interesting to explore with what Nintendo's already set up for us; a lot of the Gerudo stuff in canon is whack and imho racist & kinda transphobic (not to mention it relies on some pretty backwards ideas about gender). i wanna see what i can do to "trans" that up a bit whilst still leaving the gendered tension in place; a lot of peopke have suggested making gerudo a total trans haven or just removing the gender stuff from it at all & making Ganon a trans guy from a culture with traditionally only one gender -- these are all interesting ideas, but what i have stored up for this is way more interesting i think; i want to challenge the idea that "every man" born to Gerudo culture is evil like Ganon, and explore how both transmasc Gerudos & transfeminine people of other races visiting Gerudo City might be treated worse for their perceived affiliation to Ganon & darkness. i'm being pretty vague here because whilst i haven't posted about it, the changes i'm making to Gerudo City are some of the most developed so far and i have big big fun fun plans to explore gender there

Beedle is a trans guy. it is known. i literally can't imagine this guy as anything but trans. i probably won't explore this too much because he's kind of a tertiary character at best, but trust me, it is canon to my fic, and he'll show up often enough that it'll be relevant

i'm in the middle of my first playthrough, still pretty early on (from what i can tell) so i'm still learning a lot of lore and stuff.

a hylian who is believed to be a great hero. spent his life protecting the princess of hyrule, and almost died keeping her safe. he was put into a 100 year slumber in an attempt to save his life. after waking up, calamity has fallen across hyrule, and he is the only one who can stop it.

prior to his slumber, he was in a serious relationship with a woman named mipha. more on them to come at some point. by the time he wakes, she passed away a long time ago.

he is also suffering from amnesia, and while memories come back, they are fleeting. most of his life, eh does not remember. but he hears the voice of zelda, guiding him, and knows he needs to trust her.

he's transmasc and bi without gender preference <3

largely non-verbal. he is capable of speech and will talk if he wants to, but prefers to either sign, write, or just communicate through gestures. he will probably not say much to you, but he still loves you.

Aloe is shortened + modified from Aloysius, The Name I chose for myself when I first discovered I was trans like eight years ago (people shortened it to Alo, and I loved that it reminded me of the plant, so sometimes I add an E [hence my art signature being ALO(E)]). This is what I consider my Real Name, if I have to pick one

Aither is my very favorite character from my favorite shitty anime gacha game. He's the one in my profile pic rn!! I just admire how enthusiastic and positive he is, and I love his transmasc swag (he originally was designed to be a girl, but the devs changed his gender shortly before launch)

Red is my favorite character from Four Swords Adventures, a silly Legend of Zelda manga about a hero being split into four different people. They each go by color names, and Red is really sweet

Ra is one of my favorite bands, and I loved the name. I'm genderfluid, and this is the name I most associate with being a man :D

Oracle is the name I usually use for in video games, inspired by oracle decks (similar to tarot cards!). It always throws people off, and they go 'wait why is your character an oracle'. This is also my most feminine name!

Kafei is a character I love from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (a game I ADORE). I just think he's neat!

and Arc is just short for Arcadian-Vampire. I used to go by Pika when my url was Pikapi-Chu, so it seemed fitting (this is why my personal post tag is pikaposts!)

Thank you for the tag in, @they-see-me-rolling-dice ! I will try my best to continue the thread. Also I am no longer youth/teen so most of these are just what interested me/influenced me somewhere around a decade ago before I got my first phone at 15.

1. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: introduced me to darker conept video games and my favourite colour (teal). Also probably helped awaken the furry in me.

2. Sonic Colours (Dsi version): one of the first video games I ever got to own myself. I loved the intro, and the side scrolling was pretty fun actually. The final boss was bullshit at the very end though, it took me literal days to be able to spam the Y button enough to win.

3. Pokemon Black 2: game so good I cried when I found good emulator for it after somehow loosing the several years old meticulously packaged cartridge (Mother). The music, the atmosphere, it was a perfect first Pokemon game and I will love it forever. Colress was an awakening for me 100%.

4. Sola to Robo: Actual furry awakening, also would have clicked the switch on realising transmascs where a thing, and that I was one, if Elh was better written and respected in his gender. No one can ever convince me he wasn't just trans, cause 'pretending' to be a guy wasn't to help him with anything he just wanted that. In this essay-

5. Wii Sports. The influence of Bowling on zillenials in general. Immeasurable. Also the source of several of my Complexes: both the arrogant ones and the insecurity ones.

Why can't I commission someone to make a fanwork of (Character(s)) from NoC?

The reason why you can't is because in Japan there isn't a Fair Use in its Copyright Law that countries like the USA have so Nintendo has the Legal Right to request that a fanwork based on their Intellectual Property to be taken down. Commissions are a great way to alert Nintendo of NoC and to shut it down.

I know the perma block seems harsh when I'm trying to fly under Nintendo's radar but, I get a lot of joy making this comic and I don't want something I've poured my soul into to get DMCA'd because money was exchanged between fans.

(please do not provoke the ninja lawyers that Nintendo has in their bottomless pockets)

Why can't I make a fanfic or fancomic until a year has past since the first comic arc finishes? A year seems like a long time.

This is for the fanbase to get to know the Bravery and to mitigate misconceptions that might get popular while I set up the story. I have it as a year because I'm a slow artist and have chronic pain that is occasionally debilitating.

I saw that (blog name) had posted (NoC!Link A) x (NoC!Link B) as a ship. Is that okay?

That is total okay. Depicting selfcest is okay as long as it is properly tagged as such with appropriate tags like Linkcest, Vidow, Ravioli, Zeldacest, Zeik, Hilzel, etc.

(Personal I'm not a fan of selfcest, but that should not stop others from depicting my characters in such a way nor does it give anyone the excuse to harass others that like selfcest /srs)

Why do you not have ask anonymously enabled on your blogs?

I have it that way as to deter anon hate and for my mental health. I find that the anon feature, and social media in general, has lowered humanity's inhibitions of saying heinous stuff because of the idea that the internet keeps people safe from backlash. People die from things they've said online

I'm genuinely tired of people not treating social media like you're talking to another person in real life. I grew up being told not to give out identifiable information nor show my face and I'm astounded that nowadays people have no sense of personal privacy on the Internet. (Why do people like to show their face on the internet?!?)

Why are the Heroes collectively called The Bravery? Why are the Zeldas called The Prudence?

The Heroes are called that because the Group or Heroes feels generic and the Chain is generally associated with the LU Links, so I choose Bravery as the group's name since it's another name for courage and it sort of rhymes with aviary. (I had originally called the Bravery, the Links, for awhile)

You can call me Snowy! I'm transmasc genderqueer (he/zhey) and I'm old enough to have heard the death knell of Blockbuster but too young to not remember where I was during 9/11. I live somewhere in North America.

Also, I have written expression disorder; it's quick definition is a difficulty to write coherent sentences. The way I describe it is thinking in a native language and having to translate it into a second language that is learned solely from watching dubbed media; and then writing it down, but having to recheck it for missing words.

What's your favorite Zelda game?

I'm gonna break this ask in two with what is my faves gameplay-wise and my faves story-wise.

Gameplay has to be Hyrule Warriors with a close second being Breath of the Wild and Link’s Awakening as the third fave.

Story has to be Link’s Awakening with its rug pull of a twist that the island and its inhabitants are merely a dream, Twilight Princess's developing friendship between Link and Midna, and finally Ocarina of Time's overall theme of change and the weird sense of deja vu

But my absolute favorite is Twilight Princess. (adjusts nostalgia glasses)

In order that I have finished playing is LANS, BotW, OoT3D, HWDE, TotK, SkSw & EoW. I have played a bit of ALttP, OoS, OoA, CoH, & AoC.

ABSOLUTELY. (these r all botw bc that’s what’s on the brain atm but i can do other games too if you’re interested bc i overthink everything.) also source: i’m trans and i know more about loz than the average actual writer of the games

before link gets top surgery they do the thing. yknow the thing where one of you wants boobs and the other wants theirs gone so whenever one complains the other is like “give them to me” or “you can have mine”

zelda gets hrt from purah (who is also trans and the designated hormone supplier for the trans population of hyrule—i’ll die on this hill) and after link comes out to her she IMMEDIATELY hooks him up

being with link helps zelda a lot with her selfconsciousness abt her height bc if her stupid little 5’2 boyfriend can pick her up that’s all she cares about

link on the other hand has that transmasc instinct to carry as many folding chairs or whatever as physically possible to assert dominance over all the cis guys so he absolutely loves getting to pick her up :)

i hc link as a trans man but i think he still likes to experiment w gender & clothing and he espc gets more comfy doing this after the hundred year gap, and zelda rlly helps him out with this!! she’s more than happy to try on pretty dresses with her bf

they make fun of each other’s name choices a lot bc zelda put like a TON of thought into hers to the point where she researched and obsessed over whether naming herself the traditional name of a hylian princess was too presumptuous or dishonoring the goddess and link was like wow that’s a cool sounding word i’m going to make that my name now. they both think the other did it wrong

they both have supportive parents but in like. different ways almost? king hyrule is like That Is Cool My Daughter Zelda I Will Not Misgender You But I Will Also Not Ever Acknowledge Your Transness Ever Again whereas link’s parents are the type to like suffocate him in suuuuper outward support. link is kinda the type that would rather not be smothered in support and attention but zelda is in love with link’s parents. she can’t believe he finds it embarrassing

Headcanons for each boy's most embarrassing/irrational fear?

Also, do you mind if I redirect an anon to you? They've been sending me hc list requests and while I'm mostly fine with it, I think I would be happier doing my own ideas on my own time.

Ohohoho. Now we're talking. This shit is my bread and butter >:]. A lot of these fears aren't necessarily irrational in their cases, but boy would they be embarrassed by them.

(Also yeah Idm. Can't guarantee I'll always be in the mood to write em but sure!)

Four: Statues. Specifically, those very detailed human statutes. He watched Zelda get turned into one at the start of Minish Cap and it left an awful mental scar. Whenever he's faced with them he'll avoid all eye contact and if he must get close he'll be sweaty and shaky. He can definitely shake hands with Wind on this fear, though I can't imagine Wind has the same adverse reaction. He's just uneasy around them.

Hyrule: Squeamishness is a pretty normal fear. But what embarrasses Hyrule is that he's arguably the least afraid of blood when it comes to other people's injuries (he's the fanon healer after all). When it's his own blood however, dude will literally start to feel faint and panic. Something something blood of the hero. Combine this with transmasc Hyrule having to deal with shark week for the ultimate whombo combo of torment. Sorry buddy.

Legend: Thunderstorms. Yep. You saw this one coming if you read Downpour. Legend has had SO MANY awful experiences during/because of storms and I cannot see him doing anything but going into blind panic when faced with one. I won't go into much more detail bc I've written about it. But yeah. Poor baby boy 🥺.

Sky: Being left behind. Yeah, you can imagine where this came from. If he's with a group of people and somehow ends up alone or lost he will get pretty distressed. Poor guy's like a lost kid at Walmart. When he finally reunites with his group he'll give them a tongue lashing once he calms down.

Time: Maybe not necessarily a "fear" per say, but I can picture him getting extremely stressed and on edge if they are ever behind schedule. If they were supposed to reach a village by dusk but it's already close to nightfall, for example. Yep, it's that Majora's Mask time crunch stress coming back to bite him on the ass.

Twilight: Bugs. I think it's Arbiters Grounds, but the dungeon in TP where yoy get swarmed by insects at one point? Yeah no. Would turn you off bugs for life. Twilight is the one sheepishly at your door at 3am, but instead of "I threw up." it's "There's a spider in the bathroom please help." I also think he would be too kind to actually kill any bugs so the dude just makes it hard on himself lol.

Wars: This one isn't even based on something in HW. I projected hard and wrote a fic once and it's stuck ever since. Dentists. Wars HATES getting dental work done. The thought of it even makes him sweat and squirm. Why? Because he's but a vessel for my own anxiety disorder.

Wild: I'm highkey projecting again. Wild's claustrophobic, but specifically he does not like the feeling of being trapped in a small, cramped space. It's definitely been spurred on by waking up in the resurrection shrine. He would not have a fun time in some of the other boy's dungeons.

Wind: Bridges. I imagine this fear didn't really start to set in until some time after WW. But now he cannot cross long bridges. He will literally freeze up. All can hear is the wings of the helmaroc king and the sound of Aryll screaming. Most people assume its a fear of heights but it goes much deeper than that. Poor lil guy needs a hug 🥺

Wolfie would 100% be the group therapy animal! I actually have a short story idea where Twilight is the one being comforted as Wolfie which I hope to write soon bc Wolfie deserves comfort too (they’re all so traumatised 😭

Of course!! That headcanon in particular is a little bit of projection on my part, as I’m transmasc and love to wear skirts—they’re just so damn comfy! It doesn’t make anyone less masculine or less of a man (trans or otherwise) because they enjoy wearing skirts and dresses.

Do I see them as being in a qpr? Well, I am the person who wrote the first fic in the LU fandom for them, so I like to think I quite enjoy them.

At the moment, no one else in the Chain knows about his history and consequential crummy mental health. Yet. My next story will be focussing on him getting some help finally though! …because after the events of Overcome, they get significantly worse. But prior to all that, his mental health is… I won’t say perfect, but a lot better after years of being in a relationship with Ravio. They work through a lot together and rely on and trust each other. You’re right about the Chain being determined to help once they find out though! I’ve already got the whole story outlined and I am SO excited to get started on it.

I like to imagine Warriors as not exactly the best in a school setting as putting his thoughts together into essays comes as… hard. But as a leader and tactician? He’s outstanding. He can keep his cool in the face of terrifying danger and lead with confidence. With his help, they won many battles. (But when it comes to very obvious things like, as you said, remembering to use oven mits, he is terrible! The guy has almost lost his fingers so many times while helping River cook. He’s permanently banned from the kitchen and has been assigned the taste tester ONLY.)

YES Warriors struggling to understand hierarchies and nobility as it doesn’t make any sense to him… why should one person be worth more simply because of their blood and wealth? Every life should be respected? Legend definitely has to help him out with etiquette and such. Does Warriors tease him for being fancy? Yes. Are they both terrible at it when they’re together? Also yes. They bring out the best and worst in each other snsksnsn they’ve been known to make fun of nobility at royal functions and snicker in the corner together and are often being told off by Zelda (who is definitely enjoying the entertainment).

As of yes in Overcome, no one knows of his skin picking habits. I suppose I can spoil a little here (and spam your dms later lmao) but eventually, he accidentally lets it slip that he has the habit. And you’re correct in that Legend is generally pretty subtle with helping as he knows Warriors is embarrassed about the whole thing; he knocks his hand away if he notices Warriors picking and distracts him if he seems stressed.

Yes!! River is nonbinary! Warriors has definitely tried to write poetry in return for them, until River politely begged him to leave it to the creatives and stick to tactics 😆 He appreciates them in other ways (helping braid their long hair, cleaning after they cook, grocery shopping while they take the day off, etc.) Also not yet mentioned in Stitch yet, but they have a dog! Warriors gets stuck with the not-so-savoury aspects of dog ownership (washing and cleaning up after her). River will also be in the next story! I cannot wait to write them I love them sm.

You guessed correct! This whole story is based on a terrible lack of communication between the two idiots. They’ll get there in the end, but while their friendship seems strong right now, it’s actually quite fragile because neither of them is willing to communicate properly…

Oooh that’s a really good hc! Warriors likely wouldn’t be comfortable being touched during a flashback/panic attack/even just times of high stress after the whole Cia thing, so water to jolt him back to the present without the weight of physical touch is perfect! And yep! That’s exactly how I see them! Not overly affectionate (they don’t really do hugs) but shoulder squeezes, hair ruffling, friendly punches, that’s more their style. Warriors does comfort Legend when he’s having a rough time with a hand over the back or shoulder to help ground him and reassure him he’s there (Legend has abandonment issues, so it’s particularly effective). Is there an instance of this in Overcome? Perhaps :)

Okay, I really want to share this, but after they communicate about the whole ‘pretty boy’ thing, Legend takes to teasingly calling him princess after River’s pet name for Wars. It does not bother Wars in the slightest. Do with that what you will.

I just might take you up on that offer! The brainrot is… terribly strong with these two. They live rent-free in my head at this point, and I cannot stop thinking about their individual stories coming after Overcome.

In my part of Aus it has been awful! We’ve had so much rain and it’s been cold and windy 😭😭 (and I’ve caught a cold because of it! Which I’m grumpy about). I’ll share some of the awful cold with you if you send some warmth over here. Maybe we can even out the weather to something normal!

Any rants or headcanons about legend or warriors you want to share?

YES okay so.

Legend:

- Still has certain bunny-like behaviours (nose twitches, and also ‘bunny flops’ aka he just. Drops when he feels super safe and comfortable and conks out—see him with Ravio. (In future instalments to Stitch, I may also have him do this with others!)

- Because of the bunny thing, he no longer eats meat either. Dairy and animal products are… okay, with a preference to eat as infrequently as possible, but meat is a no unless he’s absolutely desperate

- ALSO BUCK TEETH

- This is probably quite obvious in my Stitch series, but he has insomnia. It’s better at home where he knows he’s safe and Ravio has him, but out on another quest with trauma around every bend? It’s Bad. And pretty soon in the series it’s only going to get worse!

- Adding on to that, what helps his insomnia a lot is weight (think, a weighted blanket or Wolfie) and heat (Wolfie). He does not yet know this.

- Purple eyes (Ravio has green)

- Legend is a trans man who loves wearing skirts and dresses. It took a little time for him to get over the whole ‘skirts and dresses are feminine’ thing, but he loves the way they feel on his body, loves how freeing they are. He won’t wear pants unless he will literally freeze without them

- Legend is bi greyromantic ace. Romantic attraction is extremely rare for him, and because of the whole Marin thing, he tends to veer away from it if he does feel romantic attraction. Besides, he has Ravio, so he doesn’t care for it when he does feel romantic attraction

- Has self-harmed in the past. He’s a lot better now, but losing his uncle and not having any control over his life did not bode well for his mental health. Ravio helped a lot with it though.

Warriors:

- Really smart. He’s very tactical (which helped a lot during the war)

- Country boy! A lot of people mistake him for a city boy because he’s ‘refined’, but that’s actually years of training. He grew up in the country with his mam and pops and will always be a country boy at heart

- In Stitch, he’s very fussy about the way he looks. Certain parts of his appearance he can’t stand to look at, though he doesn’t yet understand why. No I won’t be elaborating on this one yet

- He has dermatillomania (skin picking). He hides it from the others because he’s embarrassed about it, but it’s hard to stop when he doesn’t even think about it while he’s doing it… He does try to keep away from obvious places when he picks, though.

- Warriors has a partner back home! This is specific to Stitch, and they’ll be mentioned soon (if they haven’t yet by the time I get around to answering this) but their name is River (an OC of mine). They’re a poet and an artist, and a relatively famous one at that. Warriors is super soft for them, and vice-versa (they gave him a book of their first poems, inspired by him). We’ll see more of them in future Stitch instalments :)

- Steals Legend’s hair products. He thinks he’s really sneaky about it. Legend knows and likes to watch him squirm when he pretends to look for them (Legend no longer uses them).

- Hates being called ‘pretty boy’. It reminds him of Cia, and his skin crawls anytime someone calls him that.

For the both of them:

- They’re super close friends (best friends, though they don’t really know it yet). They both have a similar love language of playful bullying. They may seem mean to one another from an outsider’s perspective, but they’re very fond of each other

- While they can both be very physically affectionate with others (see: Wind, Hyrule, Ravio) they’re not so much with each other. This does not mean they care for each other less. Their relationship is just… different. Wind is like a younger brother, and Hyrule is Legend’s successor, and Ravio, obviously, his partner. They still have physically affectionate moments, they’re just different (shoulder squeezes, playfully leaning into one another.)

-OH almost forgot but nicknames for each other!! ‘Ledge’ and ‘Worry-Wars’ snsksnsns

I have so many questions about Gerudo culture that obviously are not going to be addressed in a Zelda game

My understanding is rhe only male ever born to them is a reincarnation of Ganon, right? And they have to take mates of other species to reproduce? Which kind of begs the question why they seem a little mistrustful of outsiders, you'd think alot of them would be super up for banging a Hylian

But more importantly, WHERE ARE tHE LESBIANS. My first thought for a culture like that would be that relationships and romances between women would be seen as the most normal, a relationship with a man for reasons other than reproduction would maybe be seen as a little odd?

Furthermore, I choose to believe this both confirms Link is enby and that the Gerudo are extremely trans inclusive. Because otherwise, Link having to go in drag and sneak into a woman's only space of sketchy as shit (I'm not. Commenting on the one who sells you clothes. She's beautiful. Don't play her for laughs I choose to believe she's a trans woman and the Gerudo accept that)

All of which is to say I want to meet a hot transmasc gerudo so I can date him.

Okay im just going to make my own post about this because this bugs the hell out of me

Look i get that botw kind of brought a lot of new people to loz and i think thats great, if botw is the only zelda game you’ve ever played and you loved it thats valid, its an amazing game. But im getting tired of people acting like botw zelda is the only zelda with a compelling personality or backstory because you’re either forgetting entire games?? Or throwing games you never played under the bus to make botw seem like the most indisputably superior zelda game possible? (It isn’t. Its very good but it still has flaws.)

People are like “every other Zelda is lame and boring and is just a pretty wizard with a crown 🙄 but THIS Zelda! She has ANXIETY!”

I get that botw Zelda is arguably one of the more vulnerable and relatable Zeldas, or even the most tragic, but it’s not like this is the first game to humanize Zelda or give her a unique backstory and personality? She’s not even the first Zelda to technically “fail” and then have to work overtime to damage control a situation she “failed” to prevent. OOT Zelda KNEW Ganon was going to kill everyone and fuck up Hyrule and NO ONE BELIEVED HER, so her idiot father just let him take over and reduce Hyrule to a miserable hellscape full of ZOMBIES. She had to go in to hiding for ten years, in which she of course patiently waited for Link to save her like the boring pre-botw princess she was :/ PSYCHE SHE STUDIED THE BLADE AND BECAME A SHEIKAH WARRIOR (and there was no reason she had to pose as a boy to do that because there are loads of female sheikah warriors so arguably a transmasc/nb icon.) Then she sent Da Linky back in time and just resigned herself to rebuild Hyrule by herself in the fucked up hell timeline he left behind?? That’s fucking sad bro she did that. She rebuilt Hyrule and didn’t even have Link to help her. And it’s not like he ditched her she did that to give him back his childhood because she’s a good friend.

Okay, I hear you say, well she was still wasn’t humanized because she is presented as an all powerful mysterious high-priestess type figure. Okay fair enough, you want a relatable Zelda? How about Tetra?? The daughter of a pirate queen, orphaned at a young age, who is an outlaw with a heart of gold, vaguely aware that she has some spooky bloodline shit going on but has no idea she’s a princess OR has magic powers, and has to live up to her mother’s reputation and lead a crew even though she’s way too young? And she struggles to make decisions that befit both a pirate captain and her own innate sense of altruism? I cannot believe the way people sleep on Tetra bro she was so fucking cool. Honestly there are more examples I can think of but I need to go to bed. I didn’t even get to Twilight Princess. OR Skyward Sword Zelda, notable because it was the game where they established “Zelda doesn’t need Link any more than he needs her, they are two sides of a coin that work together rather than a hero and a human mcguffin” as a real lore point and made it the rule rather than the exception. (Although most recent games by this point where working from that angle)

So let me close with this:

Reasons BOTW Zelda is unique among other Zeldas and very cool and awesome:

Has an interesting backstory & humanized personality without it in some way revolving around her pretending not to be/not knowing she is a princess (this isn’t really a plus but it isn’t a drawback, its just Different and therefore unique.)

Technically never gets kidnapped, and is trapped because of a decision SHE made when she was ready, to fight back (even though she really didn’t have any other options it still gives her more agency and agency is good)

Her story actually deals with the pressure of being both a political and religious figure, and the stress and trauma that comes with the “chosen one” narrative, especially when you don’t feel like you fit the mold/struggle to conform.

She is a nature nerd and i love her

Reasons BOTW Zelda is NOT objectively better than other Zeldas:

She is the only one with a personality (this is a lie)

She is the only one with agency (also a lie)

She is the only one who is relatable or likeable (biggest lie of 2021)

BOTW is the only Zelda game to switch up the formula or format of the series or make any progressive changes to the story i know we all know this is horseshit but sometimes ppl really make me wonder if they know other games occurred between Breath Of The Wild and Link To The Past.
