this project was such a labour of love and the pictures above are the culmination of three months of planning, two months of knitting and too many days procrastinating weaving in all the ends 🥲

Rex calling you his queen got me too, and 🧐 it makes no sense cause I wrote it, but I’m still soft as hell about it.

This has led me dub the phenomenon the Rex Effect where when he does something romantic or smooth it just hits different no matter who wrote it 😩 I guess I need to do a poll to see if it’s hitting everyone like that 😅

The Boys react to receiving a flower crown

Kix

He’s observant in general, but especially when it comes to you, so he definitely noticed you weaving the brightly colored blooms together.

He couldn’t take his eyes off of you, and blushed slightly when you finished and looked up at him.

He watched as you walked over, your delicate creation in hand, and gave the softest little gasp as you placed the crown on his head.

“You were making this for me, mesh’la?”

When you nod, his eyes grow impossibly soft, and he caresses your face.

“It’s perfect. I love it.”

He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, and proudly wears it the rest of the day.

Howzer

He’s always ready to spend his downtime with you, and if that means the two of you wind up in a meadow to enjoy the sunset, so be it.

You’ve gathered loads of purple and blue flowers and settle between his legs, leaning against his chest to weave them together.

You ask him to tell you how his day went, and he presses a kiss to the side of your head before telling you about the shenanigans his squad got into, and how it would have tickled you, while he watches you handling the delicate blossoms.

When you finish your work, and turn to face him on your knees, he looks up at you with a grin that makes your heart race.

You place the crown over his perfectly styled hair and marvel at your handiwork.

“You spoil me, cyare. How do I look?”

You tell him he looks beautiful.

“All thanks to you,” he says, reaching up to pull you down for a gentle kiss.

Hunter

You know how sensitive he is to smells, so you’ve been carefully figuring out which scents agree with him and which do not.

Armed with this knowledge you track down blooms that will smell nice together, and are subtle enough to not assault his senses.

You find him twirling his vibroblade around, and he watches your approach with a raised eyebrow, and a smile tugging at his lips.

You’ve got his little present tucked behind your back, but you’re sure he can already smell them.

He’s kind and allows you to bring the crown out with a flourish without spoiling the surprise.

When you ask if they’re alright, if you can place the crown on his head, he nods and tilts forward.

You rest it on his head, and smile at the way it clashes hilariously with his skull bandana.

You ask if he likes it.

“You made it, mesh’la, of course I do. Thank you.”

He tugs you into his lap, and treats you to soft kisses and snuggles.

Rex

Even during downtime, Rex is always needed somewhere, busy with something, taking care of everyone in some way or another.

You decide a little surprise to show your appreciation is in order, and gather up the prettiest assortment of flowers you can find, weaving together an elaborate crown.

When you finally find him on his own, you grab him by the hand and tell him you need two minutes for just the two of you.

He hesitates, as there are still things that require his attention, but ultimately gives in because he hates telling you no. It’s only 2 minutes after all.

You ask him to kneel in front of you, and once he does, you pull off his bucket. He raises a brow at that, but keeps his position.

As though it were made of gold and jewels, you place the flower crown on his head, and tell him every king needs a crown.

He blinks up at you, words failing him at the gesture and the fact you just referred to him as a king.

He rises to his feet, and takes you by the hand, dragging you off towards the field where you gathered the flowers.

You ask where he’s taking you.

“The queen needs a crown too,” he says with a grin.

Wolffe

He’s figured out by now that you show love in all sorts of unexpected ways.

It’s love when you sneak him a pack of his favorite candy during a briefing.

It’s love when you fuss over him after an injury no matter how minor.

It’s love when you won’t go to sleep until he does.

So when he sees you roaming through the base, brow furrowed, something brightly colored held carefully in your hands, he can’t help the smile that spreads across his face.

He waits for you to spot him, schooling his face into a neutral expression, but he can feel the smile tugging at his lips.

When your face lights up, and you practically sprint to his side, it’s all he can do not to grin like love struck fool.

You hold up the crown with a dazzling smile, and ask if he likes it, and beam when he tells you it’s beautiful like you.

You ask where he wants to keep it, and he gives you a curious look for a moment, and you deflate a little, wondering if it’s too much.

“Isn’t it supposed to go on my head, bunny?” he asks with that warm smile he reserves for you.

You blink in surprise, before nodding, and placing the crown on his head.

You look up at him, eyes full of affection. Every bit of it is mirrored on his face.

“When did you have time to do this?” he asks, kissing your cheek.

You tell him when it comes to him, there’s always time.

He adds flower crowns to the ways you show love.
