I thought it was kind of hinted at in s1 but my headcanon is vander tried to kill silco because that’s how he got the deal with the enforcers. Enforcers wouldn’t just shake hands with vander out of the goodness of their hearts, they would need collateral and we see that in the show again and again. Especially since Vander has a reputation of being this hardcore violent dude. So how would topside cut a deal with him? I’m guessing they probably threatened a serious attack in retaliation to the lanes uprising and essentially forced him to pick, that or take out silco and they can barter for peace. Silco was the brains and motivation of the rebellion and topside likely knew that. In order for them to quiet it down and keep the status quo, they needed to install their own leader who would not just work with them but for them, and that’s how vander won his position as the leader in the lanes. Since he prioritizes peace over progress, he’d think it’s a good deal to prevent anymore bloodshed, while also preventing any real change. I think he’s also the kind of guy who would rationalize killing silco as “a good deal” if it meant sparing potentially hundreds of lives in a failed uprising. it also makes narrative sense bc once silco is in power, he does the reverse to topside by buying out enforcers and using their tactics against them.

i’ve been thinking and this pride month i would like to say thank you to my beloved friends who spent hours on our nightly facetime call, leafing & digging through the bible to find the real meanings and messages of various passages to ease my fear. Who spent so much time discussing these things together and showing unwavering support regardless of what we discovered. Who never once made me think it was necessary for me to change or that there was ever anything wrong with me. Who took each identity change with ease and simply wove it into our day to day lives without any issue. They have loved me unapologetically from the beginning and worked hard to soothe my fears, it is one of the biggest shows of love i’ve ever experienced.
