"Andrealphus..." you sigh. It's a spell, each syllabe to his full name a powerful thing on your lips drawn by your voice.

He says it is almost as if you had never broken your pact with him, truth is he needs no binding to obey to your whims and fancies.

"Yes?" though there's no need for a reply. By now he knows well of what you're going to say or rather do. After all, this has turned into a routine thing since you became part of his life.

Your fingers busy themselves plucking at the soiled angel feathers strewn about his braid, feather-light; he feels it, ticklish, and huffs.

Supposedly he likes the bloody bits, they are there for a damn reason, yet he also likes your hands on him, so it's quite the predicament- one he isn't in his right mind to solve, at that. Not with you here, for his senses skew and warp to accommodate more of your affection.

He is not argumentative, then.

He is more than anything else exhausted, Andrealphus, and your gentleness feels exquisite... Even when you tug or yank to remove dried up blood he doesn't think he's been touched like this. Ever.

There's the stench of angel-death about him and permeating his surroundings. He wishes he could sense more, but Andrealphus has grown too accustomed to it. Then there's also your warmth, that still so wildly unfamiliar when you drape yourself over his shoulders.

You rid him of spoils of war, bare him, and he lets you because at the end of it when all his long hair is unwoven like a curtain of light and you move it to one side, over his shoulders, he feels your kisses drag along the ridges of his spine to die upon the back of his neck and it is all so worth it.

Might be a good thing, could be, he mumbles, that he starts to forget his ways.

It had been a shitty day already. Declan hadn't slept enough, spending the bulk of the night arguing online, and then construction work outside began before he was even supposed to get up. He was groggy when he rolled out of bed, dragging himself to breakfast without even dressing. His mother comments on how disrespectful that is, and he should get dressed first, and they're leaving soon. He'll run out of time to eat. He bites back with something about being able to read the time, nobody cares anyway, calm down, mom.

She doesn't take it well. Challenges him to apologise, to behave, and start acting with respect. He doesn't. He storms into his room, slams the door. And while he does get dragged to school, kicking and screaming, he indeed runs out of time to eat.

At school, the day does not get better. Declan is not a good student, never was. If the teachers talk for too long, he forgets they are talking, not even on purpose-- but will chat up his classmates instead. This puts him on the shit list for many teachers for most of his academic career. Today is no different. He can never tell why people are yelling at him, he was just asking a question! He wasn't talking! And it continues.

The lessons are boring, school lunch is shit, and during the break someone tries to start shit with him. Declan escapes. He's too scrawny to actually stand up in a fight, but he's small, and quick. Still a well frustrating experience.

The kid tries it again towards the end of the day. One of the last classes, with a teacher Dec hates. It's mutual. The kid sits nearby and just. Talks. Constantly. And every time Declan gets told off. He ignores it well enough the first time or two, but eventually he too snaps. Complains that he wasn't even talking, again. The teacher dismisses it with a scoff, yeah yeah. Just be quiet from now on. Dec insists.

... And then calls her a hoe under his breath.

He gets sent out, kicked from class for the day. To the office. He knows the procedure. There still he insists it wasn't fair, she was yelling at me for nothing, and yet... When the principal asks if he called her that, he doesn't deny it.

It's a practiced dance at this point. Standard procedure. We'll send a note home, the principal says, and dismisses him. Declan is fuming.

He gets home to only his father there, lounging. He barely acknowledges him when entering, still full of anger, and immediately feels bad about it. His dad had done nothing wrong..

And he doesn't get away with it either. Despite the court greeting, his father calls him in. That there's food in the fridge, but he should stay dressed. His mother has a function that night, and the father can't go. Dec has to fill in. This too is practiced, nothing new. It's not the first time Dec is dragged along to those events, and they never get more interesting. Always after the SHITTIEST days too. Brilliant timing.

That is mainly what he remembers... That last fucking lesson just absolutely killing him. The function went alright, he figures-- At least he doesn't remember anything interesting about it. But he did often feel a little queasy after those anyway.

Probably just lack of sleep.
