So I decided to read some fanfictions.. And I noticed that almost every work writes about Peri as a good father figure for Dev. Like, "Wow, guys, I know how many of you like these fanfics on this topic, but for there to be SO many of them-"

So, to be honest, I never understood all this excitement of many people on this topic. I understand that this is fanon, but sometimes it feels like we are watching completely different shows lol

FUCK IT im infodumping abt swap au frank lore on here. ive been listening to his playlist a lot today and he wont. leave. my brain.

ok so i know ive shared that frank is canonically dead before but ive got a swap au where. youll never guess. he Isnt /lh

(the gist is just that he survives whereas nick doesnt, and thus takes his place in the story. a Lot of things change cuz frank and nick are Different People !)

ok so,, i Was originally gonna have the main plot points be the same so its still recognizably the same story but tbh. i think gatsby wouldnt die. frank isnt held back by catholic guilt and whatever else is wrong with him (affectionate ofc) i dont think hed let that happen

today ive specifically been thinkin abt chapter 8 and like... frank still leaves for work (he Does still do the "theyre a rotten crowd" bit but he changed his wording cuz hes Different. hed prolly say smth gay like "theyre all ASSHOLES and youre worth the GOD DAMN lot of em" (he swears a lot)) but he comes back like an hour or two later like ".....i changed my mind."

he also Does stop wilson but gets shot in the process,, and gatsbys like "omg old sport are you okay :((" and franks like. bleeding out on the ground like "what do you think pal,,," (he calls ppl pal and buddy. idk where this came from tbh it just feels Right)

idk what happens after that tbh. ive had the thought that gatsby just,, leaves after that but idk. its both hilarious and heartbreaking to think abt frank getting the "happy ending" w him that nick never got to but also like,, its a tragedy. smths gotta happen. WHAT IF FRANK DIED SFHDGJK YOU CANT ESCAPE FATE BITCH!!!!! thats funny as hell actually

frank is very much Not related to daisy that would be Weird. he Does however meet tom at a speakeasy and they like,, kinda hit it off?? tom likes the cut of franks jib and while he does make frank kinda uncomfortable hes like. the closest thing he has to a friend in this new place (and also frank mentions that he knew a guy named nick in the war and tom is like "...i know a nick. hes dead?" and thats how frank gets invited to dinner the next day)

also daisy tries to set up frank and jordan but frank doesnt like to lie and isnt catholic abt being gay so hes just like "listen pal. im sure youre neat and all but im a faggot" and jordans like "oh i know. me too" and now theyre friends<3 besties even<3

AND frank just straight up tells gatsby hes handsome when he sees him. gatsbys all "im gatsby :) i thought you knew im sorry :)" and frank, drunk off his ass on champagne, is like "my god. youre the most beautiful man ive ever seen. i think im going to cry"

ok that. might be it. im all outta juice. (for this particular au anyway,, i have so much for some of my others.... one day ill share the entire lore for the au where everyone is happy and alive together<3 yay<3) goodbye

Hi, guys! Let's talk about fandom etiquette!

I know a lot of you are young and perhaps have not been part of fandom spaces since the dawn of time (circa fanfiction.net) so let's talk about some dos and don'ts with fandom, so we can keep this a happy place! Please read this and reblog to get this out to people who genuinely may not know!

📕DON'T: Write reviews of fics on Tumblr, Tiktok, or other social media. Fic writers are creating these things for FREE, and did not ask you to review. This often leads to negative discourse and can even cause fic writers to take down their fics. 📗DO: Leave kudos and ONLY POSITIVE comments. Talk about only positive things on social media. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

Edited to add: YES, EVEN CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISCISM. If the author didn't ask for it, don't give it. Some may appreciate it, but others won't. At the very least, ask permission first.

📕DON'T: Post fic ideas or headcanons on AO3. AO3 is for posting actual fanfiction or fanart and nothing else. (What I mean by this is, I've seen posts on ao3 like "Just posting an idea that someone should write, here it is!" and that's not what ao3 is for). Edited to add: You can also post original works and nonfiction works based on fandom on ao3! 📗DO: Post headcanons and ideas on Tumblr, Tiktok, etc!

Edited to change: Okay, so I feel like there's some arguments over like...what qualifies as metafic versus something that shouldn't be on AO3? So from my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong), people DEFINITELY should not be posting just a title with no work attached, which I have seen a lot lately, nor should they be posting to search for someone else's fic. However, it seems like lists, and similar metafic are okay, as well as original content, and nonfiction.

📕DON'T: Repost entire fanfictions without permission or sell bound fanfiction. Again, this causes writers to take their fics down, and can actually cause issues with fandom because it can cause allegations of copyright infringement. 📗DO: Recommend fics you like to others by talking them up and posting links! Ask permission before you translate!

📕DON'T: Send hate to authors for writing a fic in a way you don't like or not updating enough. Again, authors are doing this for free and sending hate causes serious mental harm to authors because they are people! If you don't like it, don't read it! 📗DO: Send love to authors in forms that they are comfortable with!

📕DON'T: Shame others for their ships/fics/kinks. Fandom is supposed to be a supportive space! Judging people is taking away that safe space! 📗DO: Use the block button! Block or filter out things or people you don't like!

📕DON'T: Use AI to create art or fics. This is detrimental to the creators who work hard to create their work! 📗DO: Try making your own art or fics! Practice makes perfect!

These are just a few of the things that I've seen happening more lately, but keep in mind that if you don't like something, you don't have to interact with it and fanart and fanfiction creators are people who are doing this for free. Please make sure to respect the hard work people put in, or fandom can't exist!

seeing this blog has made me realize something

I'm like. 70% sure experiment 21 was the first fic I read. and also the reason I even joined wattpad and got into fic writing with my first one being inspired by exp 21. so even if it's not the best I have it to thank for me being a fic writer now yippie!!!

but my first fic was absolutely dogshit and since I was like 10 and scared to use curse words still (I wrote another fic where oj got kidnapped and his only reaction was frick. shoutout to anyone out there that read piggy insanity that got too many views who knows maybe someone out there has seen it)

I don't know if it should be classified as a darkfic though. there's blood and gore and like. body horror I guess you could say bc it's just so ridiculous. I wrote it completely seriously too

it was like 50 CHAPTERS LONG and about golfball like unethically experimenting on people or something??? and there being a group formed to try and stop her

except there was like at least 10 different povs probably more and so many different stupid side things going on like FOLDY GETTING HIT BY A SPEEDING CAR IN IM PRETTY SURE ABANDONED YOYLE CITY SO WHERE THE FUCK DID THE CAR COME FROM? tangent ik I'm sorry but I'm still not over that bit it's so stupid it feels like the part in jackies box when david gets hit by the car I can't take it seriously... I laughed so hard rereading it... but anyways yeah there was little being done about the evil scientist bc I was so focused on. fucking evil leafy chillin in the forest. and for some reason blind pen (I think that might have been golf ball's experimentation???) falling for a cliff and getting minor damage. he fell off a cliff into golf ball's lair actually...

I think the only darkfic like parts of it were when lolipop's legs got snapped in half and also some people got mauled by basically werewolves I forgot to mention that golfball made werewolves too anyway even though that happened lolipop lived and was able to get up and talk within 1 day of recovery ???

but yeah. that was my attempt at a darkfic when I was younger I think. maybe I'll make another one one day now that I write better. I actually would want to rewrite this since I'm rewriting the second fic I made (not counting this one's SEQUEL bc it got cancelled pretty quick and is now lost media) the mentioned piggy insanity but this thing's plot is so bad and confusing that id have to do a LOT of work on it but who knows what the future will bring. goopbye now

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

For jjk it’s easily Megumi. He’s my favorite character so maybe I’m a little biased, but he also has some of the most complex thought processes and personality traits that I love dipping into. I also loved writing Oikawa for my Haikyuu fic, he’s just like me so it was easy to get into his mind lol. It’s also very easy to project onto him.

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fan fiction? If so, what about?

I actually have a 3-4 fantasy book series that I want to write. I have the entirety of the first book outlined and plotted out, but now I actually need to sit down and write the damn thing which I’m hoping to use nanowrimo to do. I have about 45k words written for it but I want to finish it!!!!!! A major theme I’m working with is using some lore as a metaphor for growing up closeted in a homophobic and religious household/society. Very queer, very angsty, very emotional for me.

🧪 Do you research for your fics?

100%. I research even the most minimal thing because I fear being inaccurate lol. I’m doing a lot of treesearch (slang I’ve adopted from cringefail moots) for my vamp au. I need to be aware of how guns really work and the care that goes into keeping them useable, as well as info on shogunates.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

🎯 Do you have a writing milestone you’re working towards?

Nothing specific. I just tend to accept whatever writing comes out lol, but I do try to have a goal of at least 5-6k per chapter that I post but that’s about it.

🔮 An advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?

You tell me man. I’m struggling rn trying to finish up college au before november because I want to write more of my vamp au, but I need to have this story concluded. It’s given me so much, I want to give it a wonderful and purposeful send off.

But for burnout I say take long breaks. You’ll feel guilty, but take that break. You don’t force a car to keep running after a tire has blown out, you let it sit until you change the tire. For me, writer’s block usually occurs when something isn’t right with the content: either a plotline, a scene, dialogue, or just direction I’m in heading in being wrong. I’ll change up what I originally had going and that almost always fixes it.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your fic what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I’ve been blessed enough to have several wonderful pieces of art drawn for my work, here and here. They made my entire life seeing that someone loved what I created enough to create something new in return 💛💛💛💛💛

I’m not picky at all lol. Whatever scene speaks to them and inspires them to write is what I want to see, I love seeing what scenes and fics have affected others!!!!

Plus the whole Voldemort thing. Who can help him adjust but a modern witch? (modern day au kinda /romance/HP cast mentioned/Harry does NOT like Omi 🥺)

🧠 After MC mysteriously disappears, the entire HL gang find a special time turner that sends them all into the future where they find MC, who has no idea who she really is. Will the gang get her back? (hijinks and hilarity/Imelda joins a rugby team/1800s wizards in the 2020s/they probably go to a concert/angsty/romance/amnesia)

Alternate HL Retelling

📝🍬🌶️ MC is stuck in a time loop where she goes back to the start of fifth year each time it ends, retaining her previous knowledge. On her seventh consecutive run through, she’s determined to get it right. (HL retelling/jaded MC/friends to lovers/MCxOminis/mentions of previous run-throughs/memories of spice/actual spicy scenes/MC goes through varying stages of being dominant)

🧠 Solomon is the one to use AK in the catacombs, and MC leaps in the way to save Sebastian. Something in him snaps when she dies, and Sebastian will stop at nothing to exact his revenge, and Ominis is willing to help. But how far is too far? (Dark!Sebastian)

Post-Hogwarts Bibbly Nonsense

📝🌶️ Ominis is captured by his family. When he returns, it’s as if the Gaunts have turned him into their perfect progeny, and he’s completely unrecognisable in character. 🗺️🌶️ Garreth wants someone to try out his new potion, but after several hundred failed experiments, no one wants to drink it. 📝🌶️ A vengeful Hobhouse uses a permanent sticking charm to glue Ominis to the first person he walks next to, and that happens to be MC. They manage to get to the Undercroft and have to find a way to get out of their glued clothes. Shame MC wriggles so much. (Pure fucking smut)

🧠🌶️ After fighting a gang of poachers, Sebastian finds himself all tangled up. MC could help him out of this predicament, but why would she when he’s bound, helpless, and so very obviously aroused? (Smut/Bondage/Sub!Sebastian)

I want to write a novel but am trying to build the confidence to take the leap, it would definitely be in the fantasy genre.

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

Quite often, I have so many ongoing that I have to reread them to plan the next chapter. I also tend to write something when I can't find an existing fic for an idea I had so I do enjoy re-reading as long as I'm not in a mood where I hate everything I have ever written lol

🚀 Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?

I do a huge idea dump with scenes and pieces of dialogue but I only outline a chapter or two before writing them.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

I don't read much fanfic as I'd like to because I have a huge backlog of books I want to get through but I have been enjoying @drpoisonoaky 's Azutara fics lately :D

👻 - IDK if it's a headcanon, but I like to think Xaden sometimes needs assurances that she's not going to leave and that she loves him because he doesn't think he's worthy of her. Not in like, a toxic way, or in the "I need to know you'll be there" way that he brought up in IF, but more every day, like "Hey I'm feeling x right now, and need to hear that my brain is creating scenarios that aren't real." IDK if I'm making any sense.

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

Oh boy. I wish someone had actually died in ACOTAR. I wish we'd been told what Mor's powers are. I wish Cassian had told Nesta he loved her. I have a lot of feelings. I'm talking about ACOTAR because I feel like I'm generally crucified for my Fourth Wing opinions and I'm not prepared to low-ball it and say I wish Violet and Xaden shared more non-sexual intimacy (though that's true as well).

🚀 Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?

Kind of both? I have main plot points outlined and then I just start slapping things in between to get there. No matter what I outline though, things often take on a life of their own.

🧪 Do you research for your fics?

I do! If you all could see the tabs I have open right now, well...haha. Have fun with those. And yes, I crossed one out because the minute you all saw it you'd know what I'm writing. The chemist warehouse tab is not relevant though, sorry 😂

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

I have two original works in the planning stages, the first one I intend to write is a contemporary (sports) romance and the other is a fantasy romance, both with mental health rep and/or main characters with chronic illnesses. The fantasy romance I've had in my head for years, but there were a few too many similarities to Fourth Wing (which was so annoying when reading it, I spent months ranting to my mother that I'd have to change things so it didn't look like I 'copied' it), so I've put it down for a while and decided to focus on the sports romance first 💗

oh lord idk. uhhhh let's go with stuff I've written recently:

Blue sniffled again. Hiccupped one last time. His tears were drying up, and his little voice said, "S'okay, Daddy."

That's three sentences but whatever my writing style is short and choppy so I'm counting it.

I've had ideas. Not sure if I'll ever follow through though haha. I like fanfiction because you're a lot more free in what you can do (which sounds funny because you're working within the constraints of an existing story, but having that foundation already existing means you can go all kinds of places while skipping the setup).

A lot of the original fiction ideas in my head deal in false religions and false gods, and also gay stuff. "bisexual atheist project less challenge, difficulty: impossible"

like a woman who is an attendant to the oracle of the harvest goddess, who becomes quite startled when one night her lady comes to her in a fit and tells her that her visions from the harvest goddess have been a ruse all along and it's true for all the oracles but this time she did get a real vision from a god that isn't even supposed to exist, and suddenly she has to decide what she believes in the midst of a new paradigm where she and her lady are wanted for blasphemy

of the boy who commits a crime in his highly religious underground cult, sheltered in a bunker for 200 years following the nuclear holocaust on the surface above, who is sentenced to take care of the blasphemers who are kept in cells below the colony, where he commits the worst crime of all (talking to the blasphemers) and learns that one of them is locked up for asking dangerous questions like "we didn't harvest enough potatoes from our greenhouse to feed everyone in the colony but if everything is supposed to be dead on the surface than where did the extra potatoes come from"

wow definitely a lot of themes of blasphemy happening here lol

🎨 — I’ve had some incredible fan work that people have gifted me for my stories. It truly is the way to my heart. Nothing makes me feel more humbled, nor more grateful, than when someone takes the time to create art that was inspired by my stories. It’s so amazing. However, there is one scene in my story, Gunslinger, where Price is on horseback, chasing down the reader in a field through a torrential downpour and they are both heated and trying to get their feelings out. Ugh and I can just see him, all wet and passionate and controlling this horse and just confessing everything to the reader and it is the one thing I’d love to see recreated in a visual somehow.

📗 — Yes! I have an idea for a Helen of Troy/Paris retelling that is set in space. Space Opera! 😂 I love sci-fi personally. I grew up watching Star Trek as a kid, and I just love the way that space travel creates really unique problems and ethical dilemmas for mankind.

💭 What inspires you and your writing?

Ya know, this is an interesting question and one I weirdly haven’t given that much thought to before LOL. On a more surface level, Maggie Stievater really inspires me as far as other writers go, and I am also definitely someone who feels very inspired by nature and much more in touch with my creative side when I’ve been spending time outdoors.

On a deeper level, though, I think it’s probably something along the lines of exploring like…human folly when it comes to love. Basically the idea that love makes us stupid and also that loving is vulnerability and caring deeply about someone is giving them the power to hurt you and trusting them not to take it even if they have in the past. Those are definitely some of the themes that fascinate me most and that I feel continuously animating my work, piece after piece. I think it’s a big part of what has kept me so fixated on Chrom and Robin for the last three years too. The way they embody that second theme especially and the sort of push and pull they represent between faith and fear is something I could go on and on about (as evidenced by the 300K+ words of fic I’ve written lol)

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

When I was growing up, I used to like trying to write YA urban / modern fantasy. I’d say I still have some lingering interest in tackling that genre, as well as adult romantasy, but I haven’t had an actual idea for an original story in years, and at least at present I’m pretty content just sticking to fic. The wonderful thing about fanfic is it lets me indulge in my favorite parts of writing (character interaction, pining, scene setting) without having to do nearly so much of the nitty-gritty backend work that I dislike (world building, coming up with a plot and original characters). Maybe I’ll feel differently with time, but that’s where I’m at now!
