My name is Ashleyphil, a transgender woman refugee originally from Uganda and currently living in South Sudan. I am a leader and representative for LGBTIQ refugees across East Africa. I want to start by saying that I’m truly sorry for reaching out in this manner; I don’t usually approach people like this, and it feels a bit embarrassing to do so. However, I am in a situation of great urgency and hope you will understand why I’m reaching out.

I am facing a critical health challenge that requires urgent surgery to treat severe internal hemorrhoids. The total cost of this procedure is $1,570. While I have managed to raise some funds, I still need an additional $800 to make the initial deposit necessary to proceed with the surgery. This operation is vital to relieve intense pain and prevent further complications.

Beyond my personal health struggles, I want to shed light on the daily hardships we, as LGBTIQ refugees, endure. Our community faces unrelenting persecution, threats, and violence simply because of who we are. Many of us live with untreated diseases, and our lack of food, clean water, and shelter makes survival an everyday battle.
