I wrote a book — and it’s gay, cozy, & romantic! 

After many years of writing about Anne and Gilbert, I’ve finally graduated to books about my own characters. I’m so, so happy to announce Kit & Basie. 

Kit & Basie follows Basie Yeats, an immortal man who is ready to leave his hometown for good after the death of his mother. When a quiet outsider moves into the Yeats family house, Basie finds maybe he has a reason to stay, after all. It’s a short, cozy novel about love, belonging, and home. 

The book is set to release this year. Copies on my personal Etsy are planned to come will all sorts of cottage-y, bookish goodies, but the book will also be available as an ebook (and Kindle Unlimited!)

I wanted to tell my AWAE family first so that you all would have first dibs on ARC copies when they became available. Notes: This book may be a little hard to read alone (it's an "old" book, so the vocabulary might not be understood entirely) for young readers, but it's still enjoyable and relatable!

Today's book is “Anne of Green Gables” an enchanting novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

This novel tells tells the story of Anne Shirley, a young orphan sent to two siblings… who wanted to adopt a boy in the first place, so he could help at the farm! 🌿

But Anne is as lovely as she is imaginative, and though she is also a liiittle bit dramatic, Marilla and Matthew grow fond of her very quickly, and soon, the mistake made is forgotten!

Anne discovers a new life in Green Gables, and, moreover, and happy to finally have found (or been found by?) a family for the first time.

The book goes through Anne's life at Green Gables, following her during her first day of school to all of her adventures in the woods, with her new friend.

It really is a lovely story, filled with joy, life and innocence, and I can assure you that I laughed more than once while reading Anne's comments! 🤭

This was my first time reading L. M. Montgomery, and I have to admit that, at first, I feared that this book would not have aged well, with the main character being a little girl from the 20th century… but oh, was I wrong!

🪅 A book that came as a complete surprise to you

I was astonished by how enthralling (and fun) the narrative voices were in The Moonstone, and even more astonished by how much I loved Marian Halcombe (probably my favorite character I've encountered in Victorian literature) in The Woman in White.

🐿 A series you'd like to have more and more and more of

I'd like to have more and more books in the Emma M. Lion series, and since we're only on Volume 7 on a planned 24, it sounds like we're going to get it.

👒 A book that you like, but not for the reason most people do

I love Anne of Windy Poplars (partially) because of the letters between Anne and Gilbert, not in spite of them.

My answers are pretty basic and I have a few.

For Anne I have two favourites, her lilac coat and her ‘Cinderella’ dress. (Also check out my pinned post as I adore all of these looks)

Why, of course! Sorry for the delay- I hardly ever seem to answer these in a timely manner! 😅

A book I keep coming back to, especially over the last couple of years is Anne of Green Gables. There is just something so beautiful and comforting about how she can find beauty and joy and contentment in an otherwise cruel and isolating world. It gives me hope! 🤗

A book I like, but not for a reason most people do… I have two. The first is Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, which always seems to appeal to the free-spirited bunch who are enamored with living a nomadic lifestyle. (The book is actually a criticism of this, but I didn’t realize that until we studied it in college.) I mostly enjoy it for the prose. Kerouac is an absolute wordsmith! 😍 But what made me fall in love with it was the segment of the book where the narrator goes to my hometown. Silly, I know, but it’s such an obscure place that is so near and dear to my heart- and it made me smile to see it written about so beautifully! 🤗 The second is George Washington’s Secret Six: The Spy Ring that Saved the American Revolution. I found it shortly after AMC ended the series, Turn. 😢 The book is only based on true events and a lot of it should be taken with a grain of salt… but it reads a lot like an episode of Turn, so naturally, I love it!!! 😍

A series I’d like to have more and more of is… Outlander! Lol!😁 It’s almost criminal how addictive these books are. And I think it’s no secret by now that I am the biggest sucker for romantic time travel stories!!! 😅

I FREAKING LOVE YOU KRISTEN STEWART! I'M JUST ROMANTICIZING YOU RN, WHAT DO YOU SAY? LOL. K, just breathe, in and out. This film is 😊😀👀🙁😱😵🤧🙂☺🤗 like this set of emojis. The cinematography, acting, visuals, symbols, script, settings, accuracy is a WIN! There are hilarious scenes and lunatic scenes, that will make you shift for both emotions. I literally cried because I just knew Princess Diana by her name but because of this film, at least something inside me has enlightened. I really enjoyed the freedom in this film. WAAAAHHHHHH, THE HALLUCINATION PARTS CONFUSED EVERYBODY FR! The necklace, Anne Boleyn, stairs and wire cutters!!! I don't f care about those hate comments about this film, I just love everything. I want to know more about Princess Diana. May her soul will always be in peace. She's a goddess and a real representation of a person with a kind heart. Wish that there's a lot of Diana in this world. The representation of Sally Hawkins' character was a 🙇🏾🙇🏾🙇🏾 I'm speechless for that. I really thought I'm watching an lgbtq film again haha. Overall, I'll consider this my go-to film 👒👑📿 That Oscar nomination, get it babe🙇🏾✨

Thank You to everyone for your prayers, positive energies, messages, inspirational quotes and music sent to me, DMs, Texts and phone calls while I was dealing with my mother’s impending transition after she was removed from life support last Wednesday. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to process this loss and mourn. lavender: describe your perfect day

it would have rain. the angry type of rain. i would spend it at home lost in a book, listening to the thunder argue its plea on why it should stay, and i am lost in the story i am letting my mind imagine. before i know it, it’s time for dinner and i am hungry and tired, but i eat and i am content. i spend it with myself and music and the sound of the rain pattering again my window, and it gives me ideas that offer shivers. that sounds p good to me

ATSUMUUUUU sigh i love him so fjdjf AND TY <33 i was revisiting her home so i could redo bc when i replaced some designs they got out of order LOL and yes i’ve always got room for u here on my humble blog honey <3

where you meet: ever thought of punk!atsumu? yeah, yeah, that one. who’s got these buff arms and his dyed hair all types of crazy colors, and back to the occasional blond— how is it that every color looks good on him, you’ll never know, you’ve just chalked it up to picking factories, but atsumu’s got a favorite, too, and he thinks you look so cute in your soft sweaters and with that pretty smile that before his brother’s even done mentioning your entrance into the restaurant, he’s walking over to catch your name. atsumu’s the type for spontaneity, you can tell, it’s in every smile he gives — he’s just got the gleam in his eye like that.

how: maybe you’re a go getter, maybe you’re a homebody, or maybe, you’re in between, but whatever it may be, atsumu says the best way to catch up to life is to grab it by its horns and slow it down, and occasionally, hang on for the ride. the first “date”, as he called it (you denying it entirely at first), that he ever took you on, was this “give me five stories” adventure. five places in which your worlds were changed forever, and by the end of it, you’d both ended up back at the restaurant, where just for the kick of it, you’d nabbed and eaten two fortune cookies, trading and keeping the one the other had gotten. “nothing is impossible to a courageous heart.” his noted, and the same day, osamu told you that sometimes, things are too good to be left to chance — fate, he deems it, but whatever it is, it won’t let you out of their sight, because for the next two years, atsumu worms his way into your heart without anymore struggle. from hair dyeing sessions to grocery shopping and even taste testing, there’s nothing he couldn’t do that would give you a smile and a memory to tuck away, and soon, you couldn’t count the number of fortunes in the shoe box under your bed if you tried. (osamu keeps wondering why he’s always running out.)

when: it’s two years and a month down the line, and you’re back to square one. life has carried on and you and atsumu float in between friends and something more. but atsumu’s always seemed the spontaneous type, so why be any different? there’s no plan, no certainty in it, but he sees you one bright morning, when the sun is warm and the world is alive and he blurts it out before he can stop himself; hasn’t he always been a little too honest? he’s lucky you love him back, sometimes his mouth can get him into trouble, but that’s okay, it makes the stories that you’ll always remember and gives osamu another joke to tell at dinner. sometimes, being the opposite of someone brings everything into place — haven’t you ever heard that opposites attract? like osamu always says, sometimes, fate just takes a little time

baybel cheese minis, polaroids (but the ones you really never get over), indie movie credit rolls, the word wonder, and the phrase the ‘heart wants what it wants’, thunderstorms (but the kind you love people you take it as the sign), the movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, the show the good place—and the best parts of both chidi and eleanor, separate and together, sweetarts, childhood wishes + adulthood hopes, the giddy feeling i got from the book love & olives, the time i chipped (and lost) a tooth by stepping out of my comfort zone and taking a ride on a jet ski—alternatively the way i fell into that same lake three times and clung to the boardwalk, the quote that’s like; “gaze unto the abyss and the abyss will gaze unto you.” or something, scraping your knees as a child but getting back up, huffing, and cursing the world as a loser because it made you fall, the cusp of spring and both the allergies and first long inhale of fresh spring air, and demeter but in her best parts, because her rage is as big as her love and trust in the good of the world and for six months of the year she’s the happiest she could ever be, only to impatiently wait for another six to be that happy again.
