but then you hear a *snap* and the pocky falls out of your mouth... what just happened?

"I bit into it a bit too hard..." You open your eyes to see Floyd pouting like a toddler who was told he can't have candy

"It's okay, we can do it again!" you take out another pocky stick, placing the end in your mouth and looking at him expectantly

"ROOK?!" the two of you separated and yelled at the same time, then turned your heads to see Rook casually enjoying your Pocky beside you

Antasma

To me, Antasma's last place, not because he's a bad antagonist, but simply because he's "just okay", when compared to the others- He isn't all too intimidating, usually giving Bowser the spotlight instead. It's cool having a villain do that, but it also impacts my super cool and official ranking :(((((

He's like... A wet towel... He's cool! But still a wet towel... 😔

Princess Shroob

Princess Shroob is fifth place, but honestly, she's still amazing in my opinion... She's incredibly intimidating, but falls a bit flat on the comedy aspect- There's also a language barrier between her and the player, which makes connecting with the character harder... Still a great villain, there's just not THAT much to her 😩

Zokket

Zokket is really cool... He's really intimidating, has some funny moments with the Extention Corps, and his lore makes him really interesting! The only reason he's not above Cackletta to me, is because the moment Reclusa enters the game, you completely forget about him... Would he have been the only villain of his game, he would've easily made third place 👁️👁️‼️

Cackletta is really cool because she's both intimidating and entertaining- For the first half of the game she's just several steps ahead all the time and that's really nice... Her not giving up after Woohoo Hooniversity and fusing with Bowser is a really cool twist too! The only thing she's missing is some character development, if you don't count her slowly turning completely hysteric 🥺

She's a tad bit boring compared to other antagonists, but makes up for it because she's just really memorable and you always see her as an actual theat

Reclusa

Omg Reclusa... he's so cool...

He is a GREAT villain. He's so incredibly chaotic and intimidating... He's entertaining and dear god is he threatening. I actually think he's more intimidating than Fawful in BIS, and that says a lot...

He's overly confident, which really works in his favor- while Fawful sees Mario and Luigi as an actual threat who he tries to keep at bay via trapping them inside Bowser, Reclusa likes to play with his food before he eats it. He sees himself as an unstoppable god and really sells his role

The man, the myth, the legend

I actually think that Fawful and Reclusa are relatively similar as antagonists? They're both very threatening, very confident, and incredibly memorable. I actually think that Fawful loses some of his intimidation factor due to him being a bit more comedic than Reclusa!

But what makes him the best written villain in the series for me personally, is that he's the only one with a story stretching through several games... He has the most character development out of any of the antagonists, and it's so cool seeing him go from the silly henchmen to the main villain, getting more confident in the process. He captures that "mad scientist vibe" perfectly, and at least to me, he's also the most realistic antagonist in the series. He's stressed, he's anxious, he wants his revenge...

It's nice following his development and seeing him turn into this incredible example of a villain 👏👏👏👏

I can see the two of you in bed, and he'd rather pick you up and take you with him than have to go do a random chore by himself.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He's a survivor, first and foremost. He's never let himself think more than 2 days ahead of what he's doing at that present moment. If he had the luxury of daydreaming, he'd be married to you already. But he doesn't, so he won't.

I think he's alright with cooking, and okay with cleaning. He's hardly ever home to do it, though.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He would ghost. Not before staring sadly at you, and making sure you 'know' what he's doing [leaving for good]. He's not a big talker, but he won't leave you in the dark.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Getting married is for rich people, he's just gonna stay with you forever and be yours.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

He's more rigid and businesslike when you start going together, but you've got to show him about being gentle- lead by example.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

The Kid is a stranger to hugs, but once you introduce him to the delights of physical contact, he's all about it. He hugs you hello/goodbye, and if you guys are ever out with friends, he'll be hanging off you too. His hugs can range from intense, to comfortable- like he's trying to be a favorite sweater or hoodie.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

The Kid doesn't say it until the two of you are in a situation where he thinks he might not get the chance to say it to you again. 🥺

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He gets pretty jealous, but he doesn't do much about it unless you give him a signal that you want out of the situation. He loves you, and he trusts your mind.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

I worry that his kisses are either soft and chaste, or absolutely firey and all-consuming. It depends on the day he's had - you're somehow always surprised. He likes to kiss your lovely mouth and your forehead. He's a fan of when you go after the area by his ear, he's absolutely weak for it (and you).

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

I think he is pretty comfortable. He's kind of the type that can observe even the smallest details, but kids are perceptive - and can tell he's not a threat. 👁️👁️

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

I think he likes to sleep in. 'Early' for him is like 9am-10, but this is only because he's out until 2-3am. Things are slow, comfortable, and the two of you like your long mornings together.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)\

I think he's usually at work, depending on what you do, whether you're working with him, or nearby. It's pretty bright and busy in the city at night, and he likes to be at least one block away from you at all times, in case you need him (or he needs you).

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

I truly think he's never gonna do that. You know him by his actions, and by how he treats you and makes you feel. Maybe you'll get a first name one day, but that's not the main goal for the two of you right now.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

I feel like he's not the type to fly off the handle unless he's been sitting on it for fifteen years, and he's planning to assassinate his mother's murderer, it's okay. Like anger really isn't in his daily range of emotion.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

I suppose it depends on how chatty you are with him. I think if it's words you say- he might as well get it tattooed on his chest. We know that Kid has a sharp memory, and this applies to you, the same as everything else.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship

I think it's gotta be the time you formally asked him on a date. Once again, I think he maybe forgot he didn't say yes verbally. He just kind of stared at you, until you said "yes?" It was the first time in the long time he hadn't been stuck in his head in a long time.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Oh you guys are young and poor in a big bad city, he's so protective it's almost embarrassing if it wasn't warranted. He's very much the type who would want you to have a gun or weapon with you (and he'd show you how to use it), as well as possibly putting a tracking app on your phone (and you his, ofc). He doesn't want protection!!! He wants to protect you !!! Ahhh!!!

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

I think once he gets a grip on what a 'date' and 'relationship' is, he's all about it. He'll be writing, making lists, and making sure he has things organized how he wants it, because he loves you ! And this is what you do for people you love!

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He needs to stop leaving piles all over the apartment. Piles of towels, piles of clothes, piles of groceries. This man needs to learn to put things away!

a.n.: hello everyone 👁️👁️ alr ✨ l i s t e n ✨ gamers, i was listening my musicals playlist on spotify and "fantasies come true" came on so i thought to myself 'hARK! what a great fic idea!' and here we are. also realized i hadn't posted anything in almost a month oops :)

summary: you confess your love to nanami in your sleep (or do you?)

having kento nanami as a roommate seemed to only have one real drawback: your work lives were a hurdle neither one of you could quite get over. these conflicting schedules leave little overlapping breaks with your best friend. but that doesn’t mean you don’t try to carve out time for each other. one day, you’re able to leave the highschool early for what feels like the first time in forever. kento is still confined to his office, tidying up his last few pieces of business during overtime.

the two of you decided to go for a movie night, as it wasn’t too energy intensive and you’d still be able to enjoy each other's presence. kento watches as you eventually fall victim to sleep, making yourself cozy on his side. he admires your ability to find serenity, not quite ready to succumb to his own tiredness. he’d been looking forward to seeing you all day and didn’t want to waste a moment of it. 

the movie progresses on; a cheesy boy-meets-girl romcom. yet the plot feels a little close to home. and kento laughs to himself as you scrunch his shirt, anchoring yourself down to reality during whatever fantastical dream you seem to be having.

you start to babble in your sleep. it’s nothing coherent, but kento finds it endearing nonetheless. “…love you, kento.” 

his ears perk up in record time at the comment.

you yawn into him and repeat the sentiment once more. kento can feel the tips of his ears getting warm as you double down on your confession. he’s at a crossroads. does he acknowledge your comment? pretend like it doesn’t light a fire in his stomach, yearning to cross the line from friends to something more? kento weighs the options but settles on one. he pulls your frame closer and whispers a sweet “love you too, sweetheart.” in your ear. for now, he can revel in your confession. 

for now, he can finally be content.

“ken?” you lightly poke him awake, careful not to startle him. as he comes to, kento lets out a confused “hm?” sleep stricken eyes meet you in a daze, confused by his surroundings. you give him a sweet smile, the one that always makes him melt into a million tiny pieces, and brush his hair out of his eyes.

“you practically passed out as soon as you sat down.” just as he does, the reality of kento’s situation awakens as well. “thought you were the one asleep.” “seemed like you were having a nice dream though.” 

“too good to be true.” those sweet brown eyes pour into yours, hoping you might just know what it was about. but kento knows that’s not how it works. yet he takes it in stride. “so how was it? what great triumphs and tribulations did i miss?” kento sinks back into the couch. he watches as you give an animated retelling of the film plot (including voices), and a little part of his heart breaks. it’s bittersweet, but for now he would accept the platonic nature of your relationship. kento already had it in his mind that you would need to be the one to raise the topic of a more romantic dynamic. yet there was no doubt about it. he was smitten by you.

even for a moment- even if it was just a dream, he was able to have his own wishes feel like reality. and he’d wait patiently for the day you’d reciprocate. the day his fantasies come true.

“im gonna get you!!!!” you shouted. for some reason, you felt the overwhelming urge to annoy someone and kou happened to be the closest one around. however, having been friends with you for a while, he was used to you being like this, yet never really tried to prevent any of your antics so you took it as an invitation.

“NOHOHO TEHEHERU HELP!” kou cried the second you began tickling him. you froze, whipping your head around, meeting teru’s eyes. uh oh….!!!!

“t-teru?!” you cried out, looking like a deer in headlights.

“what are you doing to my brother?” he asked and you gulped. you could tell that question was just for show.

“we were just playing! isn’t that allowed?”

“sure,” teru smiled, but it looked a bit scary. “do you mind if i join?”

oh no, you were really in trouble now. kou had taken the time as a chance to escape and when you looked back, he was gone. how hadn’t you noticed?!

you looked back at teru, a menacing smirk on his face and oh, yes, that was why. still, you wanted attention and you knew teru would give it to you.

“sure!” and knowing what he was going to do, you decided you would get him first. you ran over, pouncing and tried to knead into his sides. apparently, he had anticipated this because he grabbed your wrists, restraining you quite easily.

“no! don’t tickle me!” you cried, shaking and flailing relentlessly, your nerves on fire. you just let yourself get caught by an evil tickle monster, what will you do?!

“can’t i?” he tilted his head, innocently, then using one hand to hold up your arms, he used his other to tickle your sides.

“NAHAHAHA!” you screeched, loudly, feeling heat rise to your cheeks.

“so ticklish..” teru tsk’ed, with a gleam in his eye. he ventured your body— your ribcage, your sides, tummy, and even your back and hips. he did not let any spots go unnoticed and you were.. quite literally… dying.
