🐾🐕: tony sit down lemme rant for a min abt talia and how she was done so dirty... she was originally a love interest for batman, but her father was ra's al ghul who has run-ins with him occasionally as head of the league of assassins and talia is very loyal to him and the league, making it a love that could never be as much as they want it because they are too loyal to their own beliefs. but they has a consensual loving, passionate night together and it resulted in damian, who she hid from batman. though she raises him lovingly even as she trains him to eventually join the league. even the arkham games reference their relationship, but not damian unfortunately. (the arkham games differ a bit from the comics, tim drake (red robin) is bald and dating the former batgirl (babara gordon))

now here comes grant motherfucking morrison who retconned their entire relationship to make talia a rapist. he made it so talia drugged him and i'll leave a link in the end that delves more into it, it's a surface level breakdown on the issues with everything but it has my favorite panel from the original comic where talia tells beuce "forego your control, your discipline... just once let yourself go...and take me with you" and you know what drives me up the god damn wall? animated movies even reference this retcon like oh yall going to hell for doing this to my beautiful baby girl...

☄️: most unpopular opinion about a fandom character

i think i might get shit on for this but re: the current damian character trajectory into medicine... i've seen a lot of posts being really pleased with it and while i agree that it could be REALLY good for damian's character, i can't help but feel a bit cynical about dc potentially doubling down on the 'blood son picking up the wayne vocation' notion... it might just be leftover bitterness from pre-flashpoint handling of batman & co. familial relationships (esp dick and cass in the batman reborn era) but... yeah

🐾: what is your favourite and least favourite part of the writing process

ok so outlines are a double-edged sword for me bc i love building on my outlines— i usually end up having a weird one-sided debate about character trajectories and motivations with myself... and i think that really add a layer of nuance & authenticity to a scene... bc you can kind of see how past events have shaped a character and why they're reacting the way they are.

but... i hate, hate figuring out how to get from plot point A to plot point B bc i'm very prone to thinking my plot machinations feel old and recycled... so, i'll have an idea of what i want a scene to lead into but i'll have to spend a lot of time on figuring out how exactly that would happen. like... i don't want to figure out comic shenanigans... sometimes i just want them put through the wringer

i looove my mutuals and mutuals-in-law <3... like they're all so incredibly helpful and kind!!! anytime i need comic sources or i want to discuss particular comics, every person i've interacted with so far has been so positive and NICE. also, i appreciate how understanding everyone is bc there have been times in these last few weeks where i've been unsure of certain stuff and everybody i've talked to has been so prompt and respectful... all my love!!!

a special shoutout to cass and dick fans, in particular, because often enough, people have really comprehensive and good metas with comic panels & sources where they're also accounting for editorial decisions and continuities... like my immediate fandom space is full of such rich critical analysis which i'm deeply grateful for
