☄️: most unpopular opinion about a fandom character

i think i might get shit on for this but re: the current damian character trajectory into medicine... i've seen a lot of posts being really pleased with it and while i agree that it could be REALLY good for damian's character, i can't help but feel a bit cynical about dc potentially doubling down on the 'blood son picking up the wayne vocation' notion... it might just be leftover bitterness from pre-flashpoint handling of batman & co. familial relationships (esp dick and cass in the batman reborn era) but... yeah

🐾: what is your favourite and least favourite part of the writing process

ok so outlines are a double-edged sword for me bc i love building on my outlines— i usually end up having a weird one-sided debate about character trajectories and motivations with myself... and i think that really add a layer of nuance & authenticity to a scene... bc you can kind of see how past events have shaped a character and why they're reacting the way they are.

but... i hate, hate figuring out how to get from plot point A to plot point B bc i'm very prone to thinking my plot machinations feel old and recycled... so, i'll have an idea of what i want a scene to lead into but i'll have to spend a lot of time on figuring out how exactly that would happen. like... i don't want to figure out comic shenanigans... sometimes i just want them put through the wringer

🌻: list three positive things about your fandom right now

i looove my mutuals and mutuals-in-law <3... like they're all so incredibly helpful and kind!!! anytime i need comic sources or i want to discuss particular comics, every person i've interacted with so far has been so positive and NICE. also, i appreciate how understanding everyone is bc there have been times in these last few weeks where i've been unsure of certain stuff and everybody i've talked to has been so prompt and respectful... all my love!!!

a special shoutout to cass and dick fans, in particular, because often enough, people have really comprehensive and good metas with comic panels & sources where they're also accounting for editorial decisions and continuities... like my immediate fandom space is full of such rich critical analysis which i'm deeply grateful for

there is soooo much cool art!!! like half my reblogs are just some of the gorgeous art people have done— whether it's commissioned stuff or panel redesigns or re-imaginings. people are so incredibly talented and i'm very grateful that they choose to put it out in the world for all of us to enjoy and stare at <3
