ok so one of the tadpole powers you can get is "ability drain", which is a passive feature that decreases your opponents' stats. when you hit an enemy with an attack, the ability you used to make that attack (ie str or dex for a weapon attack, int for a wizard spell, wis for a druid spell) of the target is decreased by 1. so you hit an enemy with a longsword attack, their strength goes down by 1.

if you attack mizora in camp, this effect persists after she disappears and comes back. it does not expire, even after a long rest. it just..stays.

🎮 VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER — what are three of your oc's favorite hobbies?

For Quinn--he's not really a hobby type of guy, but I suppose his would be working out, chilling with Fig, and sleeping, lol. He's pretty dedicated to his military work, and doesn't prefer to linger in idle moments lest he start spiraling mentally, so most of his recreational pursuits are more for distraction's sake. He's not even a super big gym guy, but he tends to work out as a physical outlet to get out of his own head..

Vincent has more traditional hobbies--cooking, reading, and role-playing games are some of his main ones. He's taken to learning new recipes, especially now he has a human bf to impress, and reading has always been a passion for him; he likes to escape too every once in a while (historical romance, mostly). The ongoing dnd campaign he and Stuart host with their mates is one of his joys as well. I think Vince would be down to try most hobbies, even more as a potential group activity with Quinn (Quinn is not thrilled with this development -_-)

Both are sufficiently versed in CPR, Vincent probably moreso. Being in the military requires at least some medical knowledge, so I imagine Quinn would know the basics. Vincent is definitely more proficient, as he has some...intimate experience with certain practices. He's probably brushed up on it further now that he has a fragile mortal to protect.....

🍃 LEAVES FLUTTERING IN WIND — what is/was your oc's favorite subject in school?

Hmm...Quinn was not so big on school, so his favorite subject might've been P.E. Not that he was even particularly athletic, but it felt better being physical and distracting himself from a lot of the shit he was going through at the time. He wasn't bad in math and science early on, but he lost focus for a lot of subjects as he was finishing school. Funnily enough, his dad was a history teacher, yet Quinn never expressed any real interest in the subject to his father's disappointment.

Vincent appreciated most subjects, but he favored English literature and music. He'd always enjoyed books growing up, so he thrived in discussions about classics and modern novels of the time. Music was another pursuit that he excelled at; also helped that he had a crush on his piano teacher. He was relatively well-rounded as a student, though ancient Latin courses always bored the hell out of him

Quinn--he's determined when he needs to be, doesn't complain about arduous and shitty circumstances, and he cares..despite everything

Vincent--he's kind in a world that doesn't often accommodate that sort of courtesy, he's ambitious (and confident to boot), and he has a lot of compassion

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?

Quinn--stubborn as shit, doesn't look out for his own well-being, terminally pessimistic

Vincent--also stubborn, can be a bit pompous, gets possessive and jealous in a nasty way

I think I just answered this but I'll elaborate and say Quinn will literally dip anything in peanut butter and eat it; on every sandwich, with every fruit/vegetable, on fish and chips, sausage, corn, eggs,....he's beyond saving 💀

Vincent has also been experimenting with his food intake limit (aka the tummy ache threshold), so he's been able to enjoy some raw meat dishes

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?

oh...Quinn doesn't really let himself think about life desires. Sure, he's got his job in the military, but he doesn't see himself rising through the ranks so much as staying put and seeing how much he can get away with off the record. Truthfully, he can't picture himself having a good life at all; it's just not something he's ever considered for himself. Until...Vincent came along...

Vincent's immediate desire is for his vampirism to be cured. It's the main thing holding him back and he hasn't fully embraced his future because of the notion that he's going to 'live forever'. So finding a way to be human again might put him on a track where he can finally pursue goals again...and yeah. most of those desires will revolve around Quinn....

Wally playing video games is something that increases my serotonin. It is time to make the ultimate semi crossover of funny, silly puppet man and the serious and (at points) sad Persona 5 Royal because I want to see Wally's reaction to those topics. Especially since he probably doesn't even know like... Half of what is going on.

So I guess spoilers for Persona 5 Royal. The game is explained so poorly in this that people will probably not understand anything (much like Wally), but there are still some spoilers.

Reader Playing Videogames with Wally Darling (mainly Persona 5 Royal, but others are mentioned):

🎮 So, it turns out Wally has a bit of trouble holding controllers. He only has three fingers and a thumb on both hands, as well as felt for skin. Most controllers just fall out of his hands, so he mostly just watches you play.

🎮 Wally CAN play games on a DS, Wii U, or other consoles that can be laid flat and controlled using a screen and stylist. Some of his favorite are any Pokemon games that let you play with the Pokemon (he hates making them fight, so he makes you go out and catch them for him. Also, he'll have you play through the story because of the fighting), Nintendogs (he always names his dogs Barnaby. He has Barnaby, Barnaby 2 and Barnaby 3...), and Super Mario 3D Land.

🎮 Mist of the times, he just watches you play the games. Ever since you got Persona 5 Royal, though, he has been on an emotional rollercoaster. He doesn't understand even HALF of what is happening. Like... WHY ARE PEOPLE BEING SO MEAN? He doesn't know what they are doing, but they know they are being mean because people in the game are reacting with like... Horror once they find out. At least you fix them in the end? And the art is good!

🎮 Your character is also cool! He doesn't understand why people don't like you? What is a "probation"? Wait, you committed a crime?! No, people just think you did? HUH? A politician accused you of it? What's a politician?

🎮 You make a lot of friends, though, and fight the bad guys! Even one of the people you fight becomes a friend! Her name is... Futaba Sakura? Her name sounds cool! Along with all the characters' names! She didn't seem so mean, though, so he doesn't understand why you fought her or why she wanted you to. She kinda reminds Wally of himself in a few ways, to be honest.

🎮 Then the ending and the second ending after that is really cool! When he saw that like... one bad guy you fought that was like... keeping the weird second versions of people in prison? He was kinda like "Woah! He looks so big and scary! Wow! I don't even know what is happening, still! Yippee! 😁" Then there was the guy who was your... uhh... counselor! Yeah, counselor! He seemed more like Futaba in that he didn't seem so bad. He still doesn't understand why making a world where everybody is happy forever is bad. Even if it is fake, everybody is happy! That's how all stories should end! Right? At least that counselor guy had a slightly happy ending, though!

He mostly doesn't miss the mess of a flat he has waiting back in Baldur's Gate, but does feel bad for the various vines he got to grow around his bedroom walls that they're not going to be cared for in the slightest before he gets back.

He likes hot chocolate a good bit. His normal preference would probably be a good earl grey without anything needed to be added to it though.

He keeps a list of whom of the companions he's most/least willing to sacrifice/prioritize were it to come down to it again following Shadowheart and Lae'zel's fight which he mentally shifts around constantly to avoid ever having to consider who he actually is going to side with on the spot, having only ever had a very small number of people whom he had any level of loyalty to.

I'm putting how manipulative he can be under neutral because sometimes it can be used for good. It isn't always. It usually isn't. But sometimes.

To a very small number of people, he's unflinchingly loyal. This should be positive, in him, it's hard to say.

It's so fucking frustrating writing any sort of analysis for Wyll, because so many of his issues are centered around his relationship with his father. Except when you try to do anything of the sort, the material you're given to work with is horrendously inconsistent.

Wyll talks very highly of his father, and what little you can find on Ulder in game shows that he seemed to love his son. It makes you wonder what Ulder's side of Wyll's exile is like. Except when you DO meet Ulder, he practically tells Wyll to kill himself. You're shown all this evidence that there was a complicated yet loving bond between them, only to meet the other end of said bond and have them be nothing but hostile.

Everything is so contradictory any argument to be made about either side of their relationship can be easily supported but just as easily invalidated. They made Ulder central to Wyll's issues and then, like everything else about Wyll's story, just didn't do anything with it.

Wyll's lack of sex scene is about so much more than just wanting to watch him fuck. Even if it wasn't, the fact that Larian didn't even bother to make an intimacy scene for Wyll but they made one for the DEVIL WHO OWNS HIS SOUL is beyond fucked up.

"he was just lowest priority because, out of all the romanceable companions, he puts the lowest priority on sex" lower priority than haarlep? than the drow twins? emperor? the woman who owns his soul gets full-frontal but his own scene cuts to black before he even takes his shirt off. larian puts in the content they think players would enjoy, and seemingly just saw the option to fuck wyll as unimportant to players

BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE KAMIKOU SECOND YEAR CREW+ sorry they are very dear to me - toya, nene, akito and emu somewhat regularly go together to that arcade they had the competition in close game/offline (toya and nene moreso, the other two sometimes). akito insists that he'll beat emu at puyo puyo one day (he won't) (he'll try very hard tho) - both toya and nene play friendly games against each other during breaks/recesses while the other three spectate and occasionally join. mizuki once challenged akito to puyo puyo thinking that they'd wipe the floor with him but because of his training arc to beat emu, he actually cleans mizuki instead. he holds this over their head constantly it's his one rare W against them - nene will summarise difficult topics in class for an and akito. as repayment, they will race each other to get their hands on the school shop's grapefruit jelly first to give her. this race has escalated from a normal race to attempted tripping and pushing, asking either mizuki or toya for help to distract the other, snitching on tsukasa about the other running in the halls, leading up to the point where they both separately approach rui to build something to sabotage the other - on a completely unrelated note the 2-A classroom blew up the other day. the class eventually decided it was a remnant of bad luck from 2-A being tsukasa's classroom last year. nene doesn't know the real reason behind it and both an and akito plan to keep it that way

First of all is Chess, which remains the number one hobby in all of his iterations. He technically could try & become professional with it but he never does, so it's just a hobby (or a sport?!) (and he isn't really THAT good at it)

Second... God he's such a Debate kid. Literally looking forward to the Debate class or something, does that count. i feel like for his personality this is so sad to count as a hobby but he does it to hismelf

Otherwise it depends a lot on what AU he's in. In one early 2000s AU i made him like to go to the arcade to get competitive at the local games. In D&D/medieval fantasy associated AUs, she picks up magic studies even though she isn't gifted with it nor works with it in any sense, so it could be qualified as a hobby— Though he does end up earning some kind of magic abilities along the way.

honestly even though he'd like to pretend otherwise, he doesn't fill his life with much fun. he even makes games feel unfun, out of how fiercely competitive he gets. both a bad winner & sour loser.

i had not seen the "durge/astarion is canon!" post until earlier today with that discord screenshot and honestly ... a writer being like "i managed to shove in all this extra content for astarion/dark urge, but then we simply ran out of time for the other characters" is not good, actually. that doesn't mean your ship is the most canon. it means that astarion kept getting extra attention and other companions kept getting neglected. that other companions simply do not have the amount of content astarion has is not a good thing, it is a bad thing.

and like i'm saying this as someone who really loves astarion/durge. it's unplatable to me and that larian writers are sitting in fan discords going "yeah we just didn't do that for other characters but somehow i found the time for this!" is kind of gross to me

Even though they're no longer obliged to nurture the soil and plant life as an associated 'deity', Trench still enjoys taking care of plants (and eating them once its time for harvest). .

They also enjoy 'brewing' drinks from decomposing matter. Because of fermentation, these tend to be on the 'alcoholic' side but it's not safe for human consumption due to hygiene reasons.

Not a 'favorite hobby' as in something they do , but they do like being around when other people play music. Especially stringed instruments.

Trench has been around for sometime and I don't mean in-universe! I used to rp them back when I was like 18? 19? or something and then just kinda stopped because I was busy and now they're back.

Trench kinda dresses more 'feminine' in formal wear , think long skirts or gowns.

Because Trench is very sensitive to vibrations and touch, they're really bad with being on moving vehicles and can get not just motion sick but sensorily overwhelmed.

Anything that is already established in the media? Like rewriting some kind of a scene that's already played out in game? I just can't... I don't know how to when it's already been done? Can we just move on and plot that we've already been there, done that? :'D I'm just BAD at it.

😤 — what do you dislike the most about being part of the rpc?

Blog policing is probably my biggest one. Just let people enjoy what they want, write what they want, who gives a fuck? It doesn't involve you, so move on? You don't like something, a ship or a theme, cool, good for you... move the fuck on with your life. I'm so over the purity culture? Or whatever the fuck it's called? How did some of you people ever survive the internet before 2010? You don't know shit about the person behind the computer screen, so get off your high horse. Some people like to write dark themes and they might be curing cancer at the same time. Who are you to judge over fictional characters? Also maybe don't let a stranger on the internet impact your life so much, because that's on you. :/

Friends? What are those? lol. Honestly, I tend to have an extremely small friend group, but I do like going camping and adventures in the bush, going out and eating to socialise is good, too. Playing games. Going to metal concerts :D

Play video games, write, draw, nature photography. I am a silly bird man.

🎮 VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER — what are three of your oc's favorite hobbies?

Doing make up and other beauty activities. She can't wear full make up all the time but likes to do it between missions.

I think starting public fights counts as a hobby for her. not that she participates in them (well, sometimes) she likes to instigate separate parties into fighting for her amusement

She also likes working out and probably hangs around a gym occasionally

❤️ RED HEART — what are three of your oc's positive traits?

I'm bad at these questions because I see all the traits as neutrals or double edged swords. And a lot about Saturn is extreme indifference. But...

She's very calm and unbothered by pretty much everything and you can expect her to keep a level head throughout most stressful events.

She doesn't ever "dislike" people (or. like them, really but) and thus even doesn't really form grudges towards people. Even when people are mean or do something wrong to her, at most she's just. Meh.

She's funny, can banter and joke with anyone, and is great at parties. She fits in pretty well in a lot of social settings and plays most parts well.

ALSO not to pile onto OP but to add onto the response:

With the amount of cannon Astarion has, it's truly astonishing how misinterpreted/mischaracterized he is by his "fans". I put that word in quotes because the version of him created by fandom is practically unrelated to the one that's ACTUALLY cannon.

So yeah, you can't say Wyll "isn't developed enough" when the fandom won't even use the cannon given for their "fave".

I wish every day that Larian heard people freaking out about Astarion and went “yeah cool we made a good character” and then KEPT DEVELOPING THE OTHER CHARACTERS JUST AS MUCH. People liking Astarion shouldn’t have meant working less/cutting other characters content and writing. I love the concept of Wyll just as much, but we never get to know Wyll which is why it’s so much harder to write for him. Gale was supposed to have Tara in camp but we never got that content.

Astarion’s story is so so important, but every other story was (and is) important too. I hope with patches comes some more cut content, but even more than that I hope we get some more resolutions for the characters. I want Lae’zel to have the option to align her belief in herself, not any god. I want Karlach to be able to take apart a steel watcher, to find what makes them tick and try to apply it to herself, it doesn’t even have to work I just hate that the game alluded to it and then it went nowhere. Larian, your character design is amazing, I love all of your characters and wish you gave all of them the same love you gave Astarion.
