it will all get better. i swear. i know this sounds stupid and worthless and constantly constantly constantly told over and over again, but i SWEAR it will get better. you may be in the thick of it now, but please dont look into the shadows for hope. you wont find it there. find it in the things you love, and support yourself and be proud of yourself as you work towards your future self. they are holding a hand out to you, waiting with a smile for you to catch up. it will get better. i promise.

Update on the new #terrarium 🍃

Exo-terras truly elevate enclosures to the next level, although I had to replace the metal mesh on top with mosquito net to ensure Tom's feet are not injured.

She is adjusting well, as you can see, exploring and constantly staring at me while I'm sitting on my sofa. It has been almost a week since I built it, and the plants are thriving as well.

I decided to place it next to Som's enclosure, making sure the #mantids are unable to see each other in order to prevent any stress 🙈

Below you can find the stuff I used to build it 👇

SUBSTRATE 🍂

- Hydro clay at the bottom, to absorb excess moisture

- Isopod mix, tropical soil with plenty of oak leaves, decomposing wood and nutrients for the clean-up crew

- Animal-safe Charcoal pellets to absorb any bad smell

- Dry moss - Oak and jungle leaf litter

BACKGROUND 🧱

- Coco fiber panels, so that Tom can have nice places to hang if she's bored of the ceiling (will never happen probably)

- Komodo Flexi Stix

- Vine branches

PLANTS 🌱

- Epipremnum aureum (Pothos) var. Golden

- Epipremnum aureum (Pothos) var. N'joy

- Chlorophytum comosum (Spider Ivy)

I had my doubts on the ivy, since I've never used it before, but so far it's thriving! So mission accomplished I guess

CLEAN-UP CREW 🦠

- Tropical collembola will take care of mold that will inevitably form with the high humidity

- Dwarf white isopods (Trichorina Tormentosa) will eat all the other waste (such as mantis 💩)

I'm super satisfied with the results, and so is Tom! And that's the most important thing ☺️

Ooh, this one's green! So you work with plants, eh? Really coulda used your help for a pickle I got myself in once-upon-a-time. There was this monstera plant I kept back at my apartment in my dimension, and I was using my magic as like. A fertilizer.

And then that magic corrupted it.

And then it turned into a giant plant monster. Yeah... Not fun. Anyways, hope I get to meet ya soon, newbie! Don't get into too much trouble (yet).

aha omg thats a wild story, yeah i def woulda been of grand help to ya. i’m a bit of a green thumb but i prefer working with vines as its an easy alternative to webs (dont worry i still use webs) and its really sturdy!

but id say my hand in house plants is strong as well. if you ever find yourself in a venus fly trap, js give me a call!

How does your muse answer their phone? Do they get nervous or panic if they hear it ring? Do they answer it immediately or let it ring out? How do they greet the person on the other end?

terra gets a jolt of panic when the phone rings, as one does, but then rushes to answer the phone as fast as possible. depending on who the contact is, her greeting could range from "hello my good bitch" to "this is ms paiva speaking"

How do they wake up in the morning? Do they jump out of bed immediately after they hear their alarm go off? Do they turn their alarm off and stay in bed a little longer? How long does it take for them to actually feel awake?

terra rolls around in the bed, pulling the pillow over her head and smothering her face into the cloth. she reaches out and clicks the stop button on her alarm before laying in bed for five extra minutes. she then gets [reluctantly] out of bed.

If they’re walking and they pass by a stranger who makes eye contact how do they react? Do they nod their head? Smile? Do they quickly avert their gaze?

terra will more likely be the stranger to randomly smile upon seeing people (as where she lives, she knows practically everyone) but if it's someone she doesn't know, then she will smile in a small manner before averting her gaze and walking away.

What’s their posture like when they walk? Are they a slow, fast, or moderate walker?

depending on the clothes she wears, terra's posture differs. if she's in more comfy clothes, she slouches, but if she's in clothes that she feels empowered in, she will stand tall (like she's been sent to murder capt america. iykyk). she's a fast walker on her own, but will slow down when she's with others.

Upon first glance, she finds her attention stolen by the inexplicable presence of what appeared to be particles of dirt strewn all about their person--imperceptible to human eyes, but immediately picked up in the android's vision.

Errant organic material, her systems identified it as. This child was of the earth. This was what Bridge's intuition told her.

"Spider-Terra..."

A quick glance at her profile as they were in the Spider Society's archives said so as well. 'Geokenesis' was this spider's unique ability. Unique by virtue and quite literally, as she isn't so sure she's met another with this ability.

The android returns Terra's bow with one of her own, her head dipping as she did so deeply before surfacing again.

"Greetings. It is a pleasure to be of acquaintance... Though, as you note that LYLA has mentioned me ad-nauseam, I am certain you know plenty of my already."

Of course. Leave it to LYLA to spread the word reliably, and without her say. Then again, there wasn't much anything to hide, their identities were shared exclusively amongst each-other and with a vow of total secrecy from the outside world. Much as Bridge would have preferred her existence remaining as yet another mundane detail in the daily lives of those around her, she supposed being known was such a consequence of knowing others.

"Should you require any assistance navigating the facility, you may call upon any of our senior advisors, LYLA, or myself. If you feel so inclined, Miguel may be of some help as well, though his presence is scant in these halls..."

Should she? It wouldn't do any harm if she warned--no, not warned. Too negative of a context... 'Advised'. It would do no harm if she advised the new agent to direct her questions elsewhere. A necessary precaution reminder.

"Though, it may be best if you left him to his work as best possible. He seldom has time even for his own duties."

She doesn't need to sully the man's reputation before the woman even had a chance to meet him herself. At the very lest, she can provide her with something of a neutral impression. The faint hope that he would grant himself a decent impression at some point, if not simply convey that he was only tired. To-the-bone, soul-deep, simply just tired.

Terra grinned brightly at Bridge as she returns her dramatic bow. She shook her arm lightly against her side, small bits of crushed leaves falling from the arm of her dark brown suit.

“Thanks for the warning! And besides, LYLA hasn’t said anything bad about you. She was truly singing your praise!” Terra’s cheeks flushed pink, feeling a bit embarrassed to have spilt the private conversation she had with the resident cheeky AI.

She shook her head quickly, the space buns on her head shaking along with the movement. “Speaking of LYLA though.. I gotta pop! She told me to meet with her so I could get some type of..”

Terra gestured at her wrist where she was wearing a day pass, “Some kind of watcha-ma-gadget of sorts.”

Terra shrugged, “I’ll figure it out once I get there. It was lovely to meet you! I’ll put you on my emergency-red-code-hot-dial if I ever need your help!”

Terra jogged backwards towards the edge of the ledge before stopping, head perking up, “Oh yeah!” She shouted at Bridge, “If you ever get some leafy problems, just call me!”

She then pulled on her mask before doing a back flip off the ledge, a shout of glee following her descent.

(A moment later, faintly in the distance, a long vine tendril was seen grabbing one of the bars above and used to propel Terra forward)
