🌪️That year was my most traumatic year.

🌪️There were countless transformations (mostly endings and also new life-changing beginnings) in that year.

🌪️I lost many friends. I got gossiped by the whole class. The whole class didn’t talk to me. I was slut-shamed and they even spread rumors about me being pregnant while I was just gaining some weight. I was notorious with bad reputation in my school. My first love left me. I tried to run away with my first love. My parents caught me and grounded me for several months. I was literally in solitude. I had no one by my side. Both emotionally and physically. I can even write a whole damn book about this year.😭

🌪️However, I learned how to stay alone happily in that year. (It was not an option. The universe was like BAM you need to encounter THIS to achieve THIS success or whatsoever😃).

🌪️My whole personality before and after that year was so different that no one couldn’t recognize me after that year when I went back to school.

Such an interesting question! Lou has definitely gone through a lot of changes since I started writing her in [redacted]. I think the main thing is that she used to be a lot more reserved and stoic, with a big dash of war-weariness, which... just isn't her. She's gone through a lot but it hasn't dulled her spark or spirit--if anything, she's more determined to enjoy her life, for all the people she knew who now can't.

😨 FEARFUL: when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?

On the whole, Lou goes into fight mode. She's calm under pressure, quick to make a plan, and I think enjoys, to an extent, the adrenaline rush of bad situations. Having said that, there have been a few occasions in her life when she's felt that kind of dizzying, paralysing fear, and it definitely takes a lot of effort to get her head working and her body to keep moving.

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE: do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

Well, she's English, so her daily routine is punctuated by cups of tea and coffee. But her favourite drink is a glass of cool lemonade on a hot day, the perfect mix of sweet and sharp.

🍂 Books I read in November 🍂

This month I dedicated to female authors. So let‘s celebrate female (classical literature) authors! 🩷

Emily Brontë / Wuthering Heights🌪️

(396 pages)

The story gets told by Nelly, the housekeeper, to Lockwood, a man who recently came to Wuthering Heights. Everything begins and ends with Heathcliff, an adopted son by the Earnshaw‘s. Throughout the story you get to see Heathcliff and his sisters grow up under bad circumstances and abusive supervisors. The daughter ends up marrying Edgar Linton, who lives nearby even though she has strong feelings for Heathcliff and he feels so too. They seem to have a bond for life, even after Catherine‘s death he feels haunted by her. You watch the abused becoming the abuser and passing this behavior to the next generation. It’s pain, obsession, revenge and betrayal. A whole rollercoaster of feelings.

It took me some pages to get into the story and it was confusing at first since the family construct is complex and seems complicated but my edition of the novel had a family tree at the beginning so that helped a lot. Then i got into the story and was very interested and invested, it is worth it even if it seems complicated at first because it’s such a good book. Actually it’s a romance book and I see why this is so because at times it’s just aww how cute but most times it’s terrifying and shocking so don’t be put off by that. I totally love how you get to know the characters so deeply and get a understanding of why they do the things they do and why they turned out the way they are. It is also hard to hate/dislike any characters since you know them so well, see them at their most vulnerable times and as a child, even though they do terrible things. The thing that always stands out is the pain they feel. It’s a book with psychological depth. Also the atmosphere is spooky and great. It truly is a pleasure to read, it’s very exciting and I recommend it. I admire how Emily Brontë came up with this, she was very intelligent and you can see that the novel was written by a genius.

Jane Austen / Emma

As the title already tells, this is a novel about Emma, a wealthy young woman living in England. The main topic is love. Emma wants her friends to fall in love and marry so she tries to initiate that. That doesn’t quite work out well, so there’s gossip and drama.

I feel like either you love Jane Austen or you find her work really boring. I‘m not saying that this is a bad book, it’s just personal preference. If you like romance you might love this book but if that’s not interesting for you then Jane Austen might not be an author you like. I personally was getting bored of the book and thought multiple times about not finishing it yet i ended up finishing it so i guess i must have been a little bit curious and i wanted to test my patience. I mean sometimes the book was a good company so i don’t wanna be too harsh. Now at least i know that this author isn’t for me and i‘ve had enough romance. I was missing the depth of the characters, also i didn’t like any character so that made the book not so interesting to me.

(A person I was talking to told me that this isn’t the best book to start with by Jane Austen so you might want to start reading Pride and Prejudice or a shorter novel at first. Jane Austen made Emma a character nobody likes so you‘ll find more relatable characters in her other novels.)

Virginia Woolf / To the lighthouse 💡

The Ramsays spend their summer in a holiday home. It’s quite a lot going on with 8 kids and friends who also visit the family, a painter and a former philosophy student from Mr. Ramsay. The youngest of the kids wishes to go on the trip to the lighthouse which is constantly appearing throughout the story: it bright lights shine though the dark night, eyes catching the light or it creeps into the empty house. Until the trip can happen years pass, at first Mr.Ramsay always says that the weather will be bad tomorrow as a reason to not go, then war happens, a lot of things change until the family can finally make the trip to the lighthouse. It seems like everything changed but the lighthouse is always there and it’s comforting to know that. You‘ll get a great understanding of each character and how they think since it’s written like the narrator looks into the character’s heads.

The book creates a very special atmosphere and is also comforting and inspiring. It was unusual to read so it took me some pages to get used to it since the language is very poetic. I didn’t read it in english since it isn’t my first language and i feel like i would have a hard time reading it in english. It’s not only beautiful written, the story is also heart warming. While I read I wished to read it forever and not go back into the real world. Already a few pages in I was sure I will read this book again, especially because you might miss something. You have to be focused while reading, there are so many beautiful metaphors so if you don’t pay attention all the time, you miss them. I like that you know what different characters think and get a view into their head. At certain paragraphs i thought, how can someone write something so beautiful, it brought me to tears, i cannot express my love for this novel. It’s definitely one of my favorite books!

An interesting fact: Virginia Woolf was often in a summer house with her family which was located near a lighthouse (in Cornwall, England). To the lighthouse is a autobiographical novel it’s said that it’s psychoanalytic, the therapy is telling the story. Woolf sees herself in Mrs. Ramsay with all these feelings of loneliness and thoughts about philosophical topics.

The essay is based on the line „a woman must have money and a room of one‘s own if she is to write fiction“. Woolf reflects on the resources woman have in order to be able to write, she brings statements from other authors into her essay and discusses them. How did woman in that time period write fiction (like Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters…), under which circumstances, is one of the questions she answers. Most importantly she explains how it comes that most authors in her time are male and woman are very unlikely to write, not even speaking of publishing.

I found it easy to understand since it’s an essay and I don’t read essays often. It’s also nicely written since it doesn’t have that heavy aspect which many essays have. I found it interesting and it was a good book to end this month with. I felt like it was important to me to deal with the topic of female authors in classic literature. I feel like I know more about it now and I‘m glad. I will definitely continue reading more about this and reading more books by female authors. I see why this work was and still is so important especially in the time when it was published, in the 1920s, it was revolutionary and did a lot for the feminist movement.

JEALOUSY. Kiyana really hates not being able to have something she wants, and she especially hates it when someone else gets that thing instead. She has a tendency to lash out when things don't go her way.

I think technically the biggest change has to be her design (featuring art from 2018) but you can see that a lot of key design elements stayed the same!

BUT. The biggest story change issss... I retconned her connection to Merill and turned her from Mallum's friend into his sister.

When I first introduced these two, Merill was actually one of her victims! His investigations into Kiyana led to a confrontation that resulted in his kidnapping, and she planned to kill him once she grew bored to see if he would turn into a rainbow drinker.

I think I retconned them both in 2020, turning the dial back on their timeline so we'd instead be watching the events that would have led up to Merill's kidnapping in the original plot.

One time me and my best friend were on the train together chatting. I usually wear headphones in public but my best friend wanted to talk which is fine until all of a sudden 40 teenagers get on the train with us.
