Your eyes snap open and you blink a few times, trying to make sense of your surroundings.

In one corner, a lantern casts a soft glow on the wooden floor and walls. The smell of brandy is strong, probably coming from a nearby wine cellar, and mixes with the salty, humid atmosphere. And there's a soft wood creaking with each gentle, rhythmic sway of the room.

A metallic clink cuts through the quiet as you try to move your hands, and your gaze drops down to your dirty forearms, following the length of a heavy chain secured around your sore wrists. The chain crisscrosses, ending in iron rings anchored firmly to the wall.

Yes. You are in the ship’s brig.

You chuckle wryly, shaking your head in amusement. This again, huh? What debt had you racked up this time? Or who’d you try to swipe from that actually managed to catch you? You’ve been in plenty of cells before, but not this one. 

The bitter, metallic taste of blood lingers in your mouth, and you flick your tongue to wipe away a small trickle the corner of your lip. Smirking, you recall flashes of what went down a few hours ago. That blonde brute in the mask, pinning you to the ground with that burnt-up tree trunk of an arm. The tall idiot dressed like a cockroach in fishnets, kicking you square in the face.

Amateurs. You grin to yourself, thinking about how they held back. Clearly, they had no idea what you’d been through before. These rookies didn’t even come close to the worst of it.

The iron lock of the cell door creaks open and the silhouette of an imposing man is outlined against the light. You squint, trying to make out your captor’s identity beneath the dim lantern glow. The hulking figure looms at the entrance, arms and chest bulging with intimidating muscles straining against an unbuttoned black shirt. His wild red hair spikes upward like a flame, and beneath a pair of studded leather goggles, sharp orange eyes glint over a crooked, broken nose.

Eustass Captain Kid, you think immediately.

Alright, so maybe your captor isn’t the idiot you were expecting... but still, you don’t flinch an inch. Your survival instinct kicks in, and your brain starts working to assess the level of threat you’re facing. With a single glance, you study his attitude, stance and outfit, and it doesn’t take long for you to reach your verdict. Arrogant and cocky. What is it like having to maneuver your thighs around each other on the rare occasion you do actually walk?

i have to point out that i walk every single day (it's a lot of work, and i deserve credit), but basically: its hard! imagine you have these globes 🌎 of fat wrapped around your thighs, theyre soft, incredibly heavy, and constantly fighting for space, and so clumsy. walking feels inaccurate, there's a lot of your body you can't see around, and you know if you lose your footing, the fall will hurt, bad, and there's no guarantee anyone will be able to get you back on your feet. so you have to walk carefully, and not too fast. and you're carrying a lot of weight in general, so every step is effort, and the longer youre moving the more your muscles strain, slowly burning more intensely. visually, i look like i have trouble walking. and thats bc i have trouble walking (　ﾟ 3ﾟ)

i have spun my wheel and charles leclerc is doing a crossover with... knives out! very random. personally i love it.

Charles in a murder mystery is actually such a fascinating concept to me. Picture this:  on the eve of the fifty year anniversary of Ferrari, LLC, the biggest consulting group this side of the globe and then some, the CEO ends up dead in the middle of the street. Bullet wound blooming over the heart. No explanation, no cameras. Mattia Binotto should be alive to sign at least a few more cutthroat deals, but he isn’t, and no one knows why.

The fact that a detective has come to town just the night before isn’t exactly what the killer wanted to hear, but no matter; perhaps this detective, this Sebastian Vettel, might have a soft spot for wide-eyed hopeless cases with far too much persistence. It would be a shame to see such talent put behind bars. Sebastian is a little too clever for his own good, that sharp gaze could cut through just about anything and does so for the thrill of it, but in the end– well, Sebastian has seen enough to know how this plays out, and he thinks he’d like to figure out how long the killer can keep the game in the air.

There are suspects, of course. Rival companies always like to toss around a few threats, but no one’s stupid enough to shoot another CEO. Not even Horner over at Red Bull Group. Besides, Max was in the clear, everyone saw him out at a dinner with Daniel and a few other associates that very night.

Some of the Ferrari employees aren’t as straightforward, though, even though no one thinks it would have been them. There was that Leclerc boy, the middle child, but he was the sole receiver of Binotto’s wishes to inherit the company, and there’s no way Charles would have messed with him like that, right? Not unless there were documents proving Mattia screwed Charles over time and time again with failed promotions and last-minute hirings. Not unless security tapes of furious arguments and looming threats were ever made public, and someone has taken care to ensure that they never will.

Because of course Charles would do something to save his life if it meant no one would have to know. Because Charles has a certain type of luck, strong as anything, but utterly unpredictable. He either gets the best twists of fate or the worst plays known to man. 

Sometimes you have to take things into your own hands. Sometimes you have to plunge the knife into someone else’s back. Sometimes you have to realize that if Mattia Binotto is not going to help you, you have to make way for someone else, someone who will. Blood blends in well with red clothing. Who would suspect the boy who’s already lost so much? As if Carlos would tell. As if anyone would.

Vasseur is appointed head of the company within the span of a week. Charles smiles for the photo. The detective shrugs his shoulders and says the results of his investigation were inconclusive. It is not necessarily a lie, but he never asked the right sorts of questions. Sometimes justice is best left to those who can deal it out themselves.

🚢SHIP: I would probably enjoy a trip with most of them, but I'd have to say Quincey. He's good at planning (or least taking charge) so I'd just follow him around, we're both social and like telling stories so I think we'd have fun wherever we were.

🌎GLOBE: The only AUs I've thought about at any length are Dracula/Dorian Gray crossovers (very little changes) and a modern-day AU, still set in England. Despite my habit of imagining all the characters with American accents, it feels weird to take them out of England. ;)
