@sangcreole sent 🎤 for a lyric starter ► look whose inside again by bo burnham
lydia picked at the edges of her nails. nervousness seems to wash off her. she had a difficult time finding the right words, a big exhale. "when you're a kid and you're stuck in your room, you'll do any old shit to get out of it." although in retrospect. " try making faces." she tilted her head, tongue outstretched as if she were playing dead. eyes are rolled back in her head. before a grin spread over her features. "try telling jokes, making little sounds." she shrugged a little bit before looking up. perhaps she was asking if that was universal. she shrugged again. "then we grow older and all of those bits go away. we don't know how to find them again."

" 𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈'𝐕𝐄 𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐌𝐄, " lydia said slumping onto the couch. “ if i want to be a ghost for three years in a row than that’s my prerogative, okay ? ”

@nancewheelr a life without regret would be no life at all.
"it would be easier." chin is jutted out, refusing to look at nancy. if she had known that running into someone at the video store would have been so much trouble she might have avoided it. regrets linger on lydia's skin. they tug her downward to remind her of the things that she should have said. perhaps the things she should have done. her shoulders sag as she leaned against the wall, closing her eyes for a brief moment.
a deep inhale. "all i think about are the things i've done wrong, the things i'm going to do wrong. all those people i disappoint every day because i can't make myself smile. i can't make myself happy." she shakes her head, bangs moving out of her eyes. "can't you see i'm tired of it? of all the regret i can see on their faces."

𝐋𝐘𝐃𝐈𝐀'𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐒𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐃. she took a moment before looking over at the other. “ i sort of can see dead people. ” she tries to play it off like it could be something normal that other people experience too. turns out that once you read the handbook for the recently deceased you just couldn’t unsee all of that material. thus her sorrow and grief had led her to live in both worlds simultaneously. “ that’s who i was talking to just now though - the couple that used to live in this house. ”

" 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒 𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔. "
𝐋𝐘𝐃𝐈𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐌. she does not understand how someone so holy can see the rot beneath her sheen. arms cross over her chest to create distance from the feeling. lydia is still adorned in all black. perpetually mourning the loss of her mother. feeling the weight of life try to press through the seams and force her to be more than a shell. she wet her lips before looking away from atticus. “ i think they call that grief. ” she responds. although it could very well be that was living a half life here. the netherworld from beyond seemed to draw her closer as her ties to the other side grew. “ maybe you haven’t felt it before. ”
