riley let out a soft laugh. ❛ 'thank you, next' would be so much less messy. ❜  if only it could be that easy. honestly, thinking about it, that might have actually worked on some of the duds guys she dated. she didn't always date the brightest bulbs in the bunch. which was her own fault, really. she couldn't blame anyone but herself for that. she was learning that she didn't always have the best taste in or judgement of guys. ❛ no but that other thing, that could work. it sounds super mature and super smart which will help me feel like less of an idiot when i have to say it. ❜ she tried to remember what amy had said and repeated it to herself quietly a few times. her head nodding confidently. ❛ you are an actual genius. seriously. ❜

❛ That's adorable. So, you play Hockey AND you're sweet? i'm surprised there isn't a fan club running around or something. ❜ she was half-joking, and trying to stop herself from going on another nervous ramble. She felt slightly guilty when he believed her sarcasm. A small smile and a shake of her head, not wanting to dash his hopes, but she also couldn't pretend to be a super spy for the whole time they were friends. It would be HILARIOUS but she couldn't do that. ❛ That was a joke, sorry, but now maybe once I've finished my PhD i'll go into the spy industry. ❜ Another joke, but she hadn't expected that reaction.

At Danny's comment about her father, all she could do was nod. He was a jerk. He was one of the worst people she knew. If not, the worst person she knew. She didn't want to completely sour the mood by going into the deep rooted reason as to why her father didn't expect her to stay at college - so she told him a condensed version. ❛ My dad's into tradition and junk, while I like to break the mould. Why can't an heiress be hot and smart? why do i have to pick one? ❜
