*Scoops him up and takes him home with me* MINE NOW!

Faulty...
Tumblr media
A faulty Judgement Boy clone who has been dumped into the storage rooms of the basement in the hotel.
He was supposed to be a 5th Judgement Boy clone, but his physical and mental faults made him useless to Gold.
He acted and sounded nothing like a Judgement Boy should. Talking like a game show host and was way too nice to the guests, and would sometimes even let guests get away with lying. For some reason instead of a number 5 on his shirt, "The Judgement Day" was also printed onto his shirt like the original, and he only had one 5 ton weight instead of two. Already making his value lower than the rest of the Judgement Boy clones.
So now this clone lies alone in the basement storerooms, not even attached to a rail. Left to rot away.
(My take on Soul Collector Judgement Boy)

Otome Jam Thoughts 2024: Love Limit
Tumblr media
By: Winking Corvid
Summary:
In an effort to support her sister's future endeavors as a matchmaker, Eiren Reeves agrees to a blind date her sister sets up. Several hours later, her date's a no show...
The planet is invaded!?
But hold on a moment...the invader looks rather familiar? No, it couldn't be. There's no way that Eiren's date is an alien invader that just put the fate of the world in her hands, right? Unless...?
[Obligatory favorite screenshot]
Tumblr media
This is the sixth otome jam game I've managed to get to and my favorite by far. This was so goofy and fun and cute?? The silly alien invasion vibes were great, and it really shined through with all the 'bad' endings you're able to get (I got 4 of them and the true ending, there's over 10 endings in total).
Egen is such a boyfailure and I love him for that, and Eiren is such a funny MC. Their dynamic is great, and seeing them play off each other in this ridiculous situation of Egen trying to woe Eiren, and Eiren going along with it to save the world was great. The side characters were also so much fun!!
Everyone felt so distinct, and it made the whole journey such a blast to play through. Even the random characters in a fake show were well done! (Tara and Rena, my favorite fake shoujo anime protags fr).
If you haven't played this one, this is on the top of my recommendation list so far! It was such good vibes, and a nice palette cleanser for me personally, considering what I've been playing so far has been more on the serious side!

These Hopeless, Helpless, Miraculous-Wielding Romantics Chapter 4
Miraculous Ladybug | 2018 | 3,062 | Ao3 | Masterlist | Prev | Next
Chloe watched across the courtyard as Alya and Marinette talked, Nino and Adrien beside them. This would be the hard part. If she wanted to take Sabrina out for a spa session, and then treat her to a movie or something this evening, she needed to be off patrol duty.
Which meant getting permission from Marinette and making sure someone could cover for her. Oh the woes of being a superhero!
Yesterday had gone really well, and while Chloe wanted to tell Rena Rouge thank you, she needed to thank Sabrina too.
Sabrina had seemed to really like that Onidine girl of Kim’s, so maybe they could go to swim meet or something? Onidine had definitely been nice when Chloe had met her, despite Chloe being her boyfriend’s ex crush.
Chloe’s plans were normally so nicely laid out! The again, most of those were just Chloe telling Sabrina what she wanted to get done, and Sabrina mapping it out. Utterly Ridiculous!
But, no matter what she did, she needed to get the night off. And that started with stealing Marinette for however long it would take to convince her.
Chloe started towards them, not having to say anything to anyone since Sabrina was running slightly late. Chloe didn’t like being without Sabrina, but as Marinette said, ‘Everyone has, or should have, their own personal activities and matters to attend to, and letting them do those shows that their priorities are valued.’
“Hey guys, mind if I steal Polka-dots for a minute?”
No one answered, possibly surprised by her sudden appearance. Chloe wasn’t usually quiet when she moved. Usually, she made her presence know for a good twenty to fifty feet. Chloe decided to take advantage of no one saying ‘No,’ and grabbed Marinette’s arm, pulling her to the locker room.
“Is everything alright Chloe?” Marinette asked, once the door was closed.
“Yes! Why would you think it isn’t? That would be ludicrous!” Chloe stopped when she realized what she’d said. “Sorry. Actually I need a favor.”
“What’s the favor?” Marinette asked slowly. Chloe wasn’t sure if she was apprehensive from not wanting to set Chloe off again, or because she was worried about what the favor would be.
“Can you cover for me tonight?”
“Like, cover Patrol cover?”
“Yeah.”
“I think so. Actually, that’d be awesome! It’s been a while since I’ve seen Chat without someone trying to kill us.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow. “You don’t hang out outside of the suits?”
“You know who I am, he doesn’t,” Marinette explained, doing something between a flinch and a shrug.
“I thought Tails was the only one who didn’t!”
“Uh, nope,” she smiled guiltily. Chloe shook her head at her teammate. Superhero business was so confusing!
“Okay then. Can you take my shift tonight or not?”
“Yeah!”
“Thank you Polka-dots!” Chloe smiled at her and started to leave.
“Don’t forget Pollen!” Marinette called after her. Chloe stopped and turned back to see Marinette’s red and black Kwami -Tikki, wasn’t it?- parting ways with her own yellow and black Kwami as they both retreated back to their holders.
Tikki should have been a dead giveaway when Chloe met Pollen, but she hadn’t thought about the fact that she’d seen another Kwami before. Or that clumsy, klutzy, pathetic Marinette could be a hero.
“Thanks for the reminder. And, Dots?”
` “Hm?”
“Don’t pull a crazy plan to talk to Ears tonight, okay?”
“Hey!”
Chloe closed the door on Marinette’s embarrassed yell. It was highly doubtful that she had gotten over Adrien, not with how hopeless she could be, but Chloe had made up with Alya, so teasing might be allowed, right?
“Ears?” Chloe promptly walked into the speaker. Adrien was looking at her, an eyebrow raised.
“No one important Adrikins,” She said smoothly. Actually, Chat Noir was important, but Adrien didn’t need to know that Marinette was close enough to him to be more than an avid fan.
“You and Marinette have code names for people too? I so need in on this!” Alya smirked at her, a confused Nino hovering at her shoulder.
“Ask Marinette about it first, Tigerlily.”
Alya’s mouth fell open in mock hurt, and she slammed a hand to her chest. “Moi?” Chloe couldn’t help a smile at that. One day after apologizing, and Alya was teasing her back, playfully!
“Is someone going to explain this?” Nino asked, looking between his friends.
“You wouldn’t understand,” Alya spoke with Chloe, and Chloe’s smile widened.
“I’ve got to go guys, but thank you!” Sabrina should be here soon, and Chloe wanted to be waiting to ask if she wanted to do anything tonight.
*****
“Hey guys, mind if I steal Polka-dots for a minute?”
Alya blinked in surprise as Chloe grabbed Marinette’s arm and dragged her over to the locker room. What? Why? Had something come up with Chloe’s Kwami? Had someone else found out? Yesterday had actually gone without an Akuma until seven at night, and Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Rena Rouge had taken care of it easily enough. So why?
She felt Trixx make his way up her neck and settle just out of sight on her ear. “Should we check it out?”
“Probably not, spying-”
“What was that about?” Nino interrupted her whispers to Trixx, looking at the door the two girls had just gone through.
“That was pretty sudden. Should we listen in?” Adrien offered, looking at the same place.
“No,” Alya said, putting as much force into her voice as possible.
“Why not?” Adrien asked, now looking at her.
“Uh- Because- Marinette would- tell me if- uh- Chloe did something- to be worried about. Yeah. Because we’re so close, and if Chloe does go back to bullying her, I can make her sorry?” Why was Alya so bad at lying?
Adrien nodded slowly, and turned back to the door. “Right. I’m going to go check on them.”
Alya winced and followed him. Maybe she could come up with an excuse if Chloe and Marinette were talking about hero matters. Hopefully.
Adrien stopped at the door and put a finger to his lips. When had he gotten so sneaky?
“I thought Tails was the only one who didn’t!” Chloe’s yell had been filtered down to just over a whisper and Alya froze. Tails. As in, Fox tail necklace? Her?
Whatever was said next was incomprehensible due to the thick door, until Marinette said “Yeah!” in what seemed to be her excited voice. Her plan-in-motion voice, if you will. Oh boy.
“Thank you Polka-dots!” Chloe’s voice was clearer, obviously a volume increase from elation. What had Marinette agreed to?
“Don’t forget Pollen!” Alya did not jerk in surprise at that. Not at all. Nope. Besides, she could just play that off as a new makeup brand, right? She totally wouldn’t have to say anything about Kwami that Queen B had told her about personally. Nope.
“Don’t pull a crazy plan to talk to Ears tonight, okay?” Chloe was getting closer to the door. Alya started to back up, but Adrien stood his ground.
“Adrien come on!”
“Hey!” Marinette’s shout was a lot more clear when Chloe opened the door, smirking to herself.
“Ears?” Adrien asked. Chloe didn’t seem to realize how close he was, and ended up walking right into him.
“No one important Adrikins,” She said smoothly. Alya had a feeling whoever it was was important, but she was Chloe’s newest co-conspirator, even if the blonde didn't know it, so she put on a smirk and started a distraction.
“You and Marinette have code names for people too? I so need in on this!”
“Ask Marinette about it first, Tigerlily,” Chloe smirked back, playing along perfectly. Also, when did she learn about operation flower-garden?
Alya’s mouth fell open in mock hurt, and she slammed a hand to her chest. “Moi?”
Chloe smiled at that, and for once the sight of her smile didn’t make Alya sick.
“Is someone going to explain this?” Nino asked from behind her. Had he been there the whole time?
“You wouldn’t understand,” Chloe joined Alya in the statement, just like Queenie did when they had to come up with a plan of their own while Ladybug and Chat Noir were stuck somewhere else.
“I’ve got to go guys, but thank you!” Chloe waved, her smile wider and more sincere then Alya had ever seen.
“That wasn’t suspicious at all Dudette,” Nino said, his voice clearly saying he was expecting answers later.
“What wasn’t?” Marinette asked innocently, coming out of the locker room herself.
“Chloe and Alya getting along.”
“Aw come on bro! It just means that yesterday worked it’s magic,” Adrien defended, suddenly back to his usual sunshine boy self.
“Yeah. Anyways, we should get to class,” Marinette smiled, pointing towards the stairs. Alya noted that, just like earlier that morning, she didn’t stutter at all. She hadn’t all day.
They settled into the classroom, and Alya dug out her phone. She wanted to interrogate Marinette now, but doing it aloud was dangerous.
Alya:
What was that about?
Marinette:
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Alya:
Chloe needed you?
Marinette:
Confidential, sorry.
Alya:
Was it a Queenie matter?
Marinette: How much do you know?!
Alya:
A lot. Spill it girl.
Sabrina and Chloe walked in and took their seats, talking about spas and tech conferences. Alya watched them, pointed to Chloe, and then pointed at her own hair. Marinette raised an eyebrow in response, so Alya went on to hold up a hand and point at a pretend ring, then point at her ears as if indicating earrings, then tapped her collarbone as though showing off a broach, and tapped where her own Miraculous was actually sitting last. Marinette sighed and looked back down at her phone, starting to type rapidly.
Marinette:
She needs the night off for something.
Alya:
Like, won’t be patrolling with me off?
Marinette:
Yes.
Alya:
So you and I are going?
Marinette:
Actually
Marinette:
I was kinda hoping to ask Chat if he and I could, for old times sake?
Alya:
Okay. It’ll be good to have a night off. But if he’s busy, call me.
Marinette looked up and smiled appreciatively at Alya, and Alya smiled back, before offering a hug. Marinette obliged, whispering a thank you into her ear.
Maybe operation LadyNoir had derailed a little, no a lot, but she still was going to support her friend, even if she claimed to only see Chat as a friend. So far.
Adrien followed the girls to their classroom, trying not to worry too much. It wasn’t that bad. Chloe had just dragged Marinette off so they could talk alone, leaving him, Nino and Alya frozen as though she had used Sting. Then he had heard Marinette deny something, to which Chloe said she though Tails was the only one who didn’t, then Marinette agreed to take over Chloe’s shift somewhere tonight, and the only thing Chloe should have tonight is Patrol with Rena, and then he heard Marinette talk about Chloe’s Kwami, and then Chloe tell Marinette to not ‘pull a crazy plan to talk to Ears tonight,’.
Ears was Queen B’s nickname for Chat Noir. Tails was her nickname for Rena. Marinette should not know any of this.
And when he had tried to ask Chloe about it, -even if he wasn’t expecting straight answers- he was brushed off, and Alya changed the subject.
Alya had even brushed off Nino, and Adrien had been sure Alya told Nino everything. What was he missing?
When he glanced back at Alya and Marinette, Alya didn’t look at him, instead pointing to Chloe and then her own head. Adrien was confused, until Alya went on to mime the other four Miraculous in use. Did Alya know too?
Marinette sighed and started typing something on her phone. Alya’s dinged a second later and she typed back, They did this for another few seconds, as though what they were discussing couldn’t be mentioned aloud. then hugged and started acting normal.
Needless to say, by the time Mlle. Bustier entered to start the lesson, Adrien’s nerves were strung tighter than a garrote.
Ladybug needed to be informed of this.
*****
Adrien went straight to his room after school was out and Nathalie dismissed him for a little while, and transformed as soon as the door was shut.
“Plagg, Claws out!”
The familiar magic covering his body was comforting, if only slightly. This was still so worrying! People knew! His friends could be in danger!
Chat Noir jumped out his window and went to a nearby rooftop to call Ladybug. She needed to know about the security breach. And now.
Surprisingly though, his baton started ringing the moment he pulled it out. Ladybug’s identifier was flashing on the screen.
Adrien felt a rush of relief flow through him, they could talk without having to set up a meeting or anything like that.
“Hey Bugaboo!”
“Hi Chat!” She smiled at the screen. “So I know it’s a bit sudden, but Queen B contacted me earlier to ask for the night off, Civilian stuff, and I was wondering if you wanted to patrol tonight, just the two of us, for old times sake?”
Chat froze. ‘Queen B contacted me earlier,’
He was officially a blind idiot.
“Chat?”
“Sorry M’lady! I’d love to do that tonight. Usual time?” Adrien needed to play cool. Really cool. He just needed to find out why Alya and Chloe knew and he hadn’t, before jumping to a conclusion.
“That would be perfect, thank you!” She clicked offline, and Adrien tried not to collapse. How was he so blind?
And then he remembered what he had just agreed too. An hours worth of running around with the love of his life, who just happened to also be the girl who couldn’t string a sentence together in front of normal him.
This cat was going to be in the doghouse soon for sure. Crap.
*******
Marinette landed on her bed, having detransformed as she passed through her skylight.
Step one was complete!
And since she was trying to take Chloe’s advice -She didn’t know why either, but life is full of surprises- todays plan only had three steps. It was not crazy. Step one was ask Chat to join her, and since he loved spending time with her, that one went on without a hitch. Step two was actually do patrol, and step three was to afterwards take fifteen minutes or so to just talk to Chat.
It was actually simple!
Although that might be for lack of co-conspirators.
“Good job Marinette!” Tikki said, munching on a cookie while Marinette dug out a notebook and crossed out the line that said ‘Ask.’
“Thanks! Now all I have to do is survive Patrol without making a total dorkasaurus of myself,” Marinette wasn’t super confident about that part, but she always did better with Tikki.
“And you’ve done that so many times, it’ll be easy!”
“Yep!”
“And what are you doing until then?” Tikki probed, just in case.
“Homework, and maybe design something, barring Akuma,” Marinette answered promptly. She had this all figured out.
*******
“Can’t catch me!” Ladybug teased, swinging past the Arc de Triomphe and landing on a nearby rooftop.
“Watch me LB!” He shouted back, pouncing to the side of her. Ladybug laughed and rolled her eyes, flinging out her yo-yo again.
“You haven’t yet!”
They were bantering in the twilight like nothing was wrong, but Ladybug could sense something off. Chat was, well, she wasn’t sure what, it wasn’t normal.
She gave a couple more swings before stopping completely. She needed to figure out what was wrong.
“What’s wrong M’lady? Tired already?” Chat landed beside her, his usual carefree smile in place. Or, almost.
“What’s bothering you?” She asked, trying to ignore the irrational panicked thoughts that started swirling when she stopped moving. Was that too straightforward? Should she have beat around the bush? But she never beat around the bush, so he’d think she was insincere or something if she did. Right?
“I don’t know what you mean!” Chat’s voice was higher than usual, and did nothing to persuade Ladybug.
She sighed and sat down, patting the rooftop beside her. “You don’t have to lie to me. If it’s not something you can talk about, that’s fine, just say so.”
Chat joined her, more tense now that they weren’t running. “It’s not that, I just- I don’t know how to talk about it.”
Ladybug pursed her lips, trying to think. How could she help? “Do you want to play another game?”
“What?”
She nudged him with her shoulder, trying to be reassuring. “Like what we did a few nights ago, but different. Instead of telling each other what we like about them, why not tell each other something most people don’t know about us?”
“Sure,” Chat shrugged. “Do you want to go first, show me how it’s done?”
“Alright,” Ladybug nudged him again. “I’m a kleptomaniac.”
“A what now?” Chat asked, turning to her.
“Kleptomaniac. It means I’m an impulsive stealer,” Ladybug shrugged, not sure what else to say.
“Oh. I didn’t know that was a thing.”
“I don’t think many do,” Ladybug reassured him. “That’s why it’s such a rare known fact about me. Why tell people you’re something when they don’t even know what that something is?”
“I guess you’re right.”
“Okay, what’s yours?”
Chat paused, as though trying to think.
“I’m lonely,” he said at last. “It doesn’t make sense, but I am. And not just the my friend’s are busy so I’m alone kind. Just, sudden loneliness at odd moments.”
“Chat,” Ladybug didn’t hesitate to hug him. She’d almost never touched Adrien, but with Chat? They were always touching. Helping each other get somewhere, protecting each other, supporting each other. His arms wrapped around her too, pulling her closer.
“You can call us whenever.”
“How?” Chat laughed mirthlessly into her hair. “Our weapons only work when someone’s transformed.”
“We’ll figure something out,” she assured him. She really would. Somehow.
Rena Rouge watched, once again through her flute, as her best friend pulled Chat Noir into a hug. Maybe it wasn’t romantic, but Marinette loved that crazy cat. And he loved her right back. Or at least the spotted her. And it was probably the flowers and polka-dots side that was putting up a fight.

Tumblr media
you were sure there was nothing better than being able to rest in the cool breeze, your lover’s head resting on your legs. his silver hair was soft against your skin, untied and spread out over your body onto the grass around. his face was covered from your sight by the book you held in your hands, eyes scanning across the lines of words on each page. it was colored a darker red than jing yuan’s hair tie, something that you used as a bookmark whenever he didn’t have his hair up. although you couldn’t see his expression, you were almost certain that it was one of content, eyes closed and a tranquil smile set on his lips. his lion, which was an unusual color of white, slept beside you, one gigantic paw resting on your already numb thighs. ouch. you had tried to move it prior to reading, but were met with a grunt from the big cat and decided to leave it alone. eventually your thoughts wandered, and you became too lost to notice the hand reaching up to slowly push down your book. jing yuan blinked at you, snapping his fingers to get your attention.
“hi.” his voice was quiet, soft. your hands let go of the book slowly, instead moving to press a few fingers to his face. your mouth curved into a smile, hair flowing towards your eyes as the wind began traveling in your direction.
“hi.” you replied, imitating his calm tone. he liked that about you, your demeanor was peaceful, one he could indulge in without worrying about himself. he also knew you were a hard worker, someone who could fight for themself and protect others at the same time, so moments like these were rare but special. honestly, it’s a miracle that you get to have these kinds of moments at all.
“i miss you.” jing yuan was definitely a man of few words.
“then maybe you should stop sleeping.” you rolled your eyes, running your fingers through his hair. seriously, how does he NOT have any knots at all? the general gave a huff of laughter, lifting himself off of your legs. one of his hands rested on the mane of his lion (which somehow hasn’t killed him yet), the other reaching up to touch your cheek.
“these are the moments where i can truly rest. i should be able to do so.” his tone wasn’t rude, you knew he was joking, still you couldn’t help but make a comment about his choice of words.
“don’t you take a nap everyday?” he deadpanned and you smiled. the wind picked up slightly, brushing leaves off the tree that gave the lovers shade.
“well.. they’re not always with you.” jing yuan replied back, gaze flickering from your eyes to your lips. it was only for a brief moment, but you caught it. curse you and your superhuman ability to observe everything around you. thus, without a second of hesitation, you leaned forward to meet your soft lips with his. his usually pale skin turned red on the cheeks, pressing his hands under your jawline. green leaves continued to fall, blown away by the push of air from jing’s lion as it woke.
there was truly no better person for you than him.

Snoop Shows Overwhelming Support To An Embattled Tyrese Gibson
Tumblr media
It’s no secret that stars have their fair share of issues, and performing artist and actor Tyrese Gibson made news on May 25th for the sharing of his. But the sharing of his woes wasn’t the only thing that Gibson brought to the masses. He also shared the overwhelming support he received from fellow friend and industry mate Snoop Dogg. And it is a beautiful thing. The Woes of Tyrese Gibson This is not the first time Tyrese has made news for the struggles he’s dealt with in his life. On May 25th, Tyrese expressed intense vulnerability to his fans. In a message to millions of his followers, he admitted to his current struggles with depression. This posting was believed to be in response to some surfaced audio clips. The audio clips were of Tyrese proclaiming how he felt his wife married him solely for his money. In his post-divorce trial musings, he stated, “ Imagine me being the only actor in a relationship to then realize that I was in a relationship for five years with one of the best actors I’ve ever met in my f****** life.” Woes and Desensitization In this world where mental health issues are so pressing and often a tremendous amount of pain and anguish saturates social media, empathy is usually found wanting. Woes are commonplace, and the attending audience has become desensitized. But Snoop Dogg couldn’t let the details of another’s suffering go without stepping in to offer encouragement. He stepped up when he saw a fellow friend and industry mate struggling. Snoop’s Display of Brotherhood to Gibson This act was not a public showcase but an authentic show of care and concern. The world would never know how much Snoop, otherwise known as Christopher Broadus, extended himself if not for Gibson. Tyrese posted the message from Snoop for the world to witness. And it was incredibly moving. One of the most inspirational portions of the message went as thus, “I’ma watch you from the sidelines, and then when God and them talk to me from upstairs, that’s when I’ma step in and do what Kim do. We work for the same God, my n-gga. You gotta know that.” Who couldn’t help but love and appreciate Snoop for that level of support and commitment to brotherhood? Showing ‘em How it’s Done Everyone goes through something. Some go through more than others. But stars often fight public battles and, because of their platform, are besieged by a plethora of opinions that often amplify those issues. It’s comforting to know that there are people out there who care regardless of their status. It's assuring to know that there are those who are way more than their persona, which mainstream media have constructed. So today, Snoop has earned even more respect for leading the way, for showing the world that this is how it's done. And much gratitude to Gibson for sharing. Ten Mistakes ALL Authors Make.
Sometimes in life, you have ambitions. And sometimes, if you’re really into self hate and consistent nagging doubt, that ambition is to write books. But it’s not easy.
Understatement of the century.
It’s super fucking hard to write a book, guys. It’s hard to write, it’s hard to be a writer, it’s hard to get a book published, it’s hard to sell a lot of books. It’s just all super duper hard. I don’t recommend it, but unfortunately, I can’t help but do it.
If you’re like me, you can’t either. But you can make it easier - ish - on yourself. Here are ten things all writers tend to do that you should stop doing.
10. You’re jumping at the first offer of representation / publication / cover design, etc.
Self-explanatory. INSTEAD: do your research. Be knowledgeable about this industry and what it takes. Know what kind of agents and houses publish and work with your genre and category. Understand the red flags of these different facets of publication. Be choosy with your baby.
9. You’re being way too choosy with your baby.
I said what I said. You’re not Stephen King. People are not shitting their pants in 12 hour lines at Barnes and Noble on your release date. Do not expect a six figure book deal. Do not expect a huge advance. Do not expect to be handed a best-seller on a silver platter. It just doesn’t happen as often as you wanna believe. Period. INSTEAD: It’s okay to know what you want from a publisher, an agent, etc. You should. You should feel empowered to speak up and get what you need from the people you’re working with to bring your book to the masses. Just be realistic, manage your expectations, and understand the typical numbers for someone of your notoriety. In my case, I didn’t have any. So I knew I probably wouldn’t get an advance as a debut unknown nobody. I managed my expectations, so I wasn’t disappointed.
8. You’re not reading your book out loud.
If you are writing a book, it probably has dialogue. If your book has dialogue, it means two people are talking. If two people are talking, it needs to sound like...two people talking. But maybe you feel awkward about your dialogue. Maybe it seems stilted or off somehow. INSTEAD: Read that shit out loud. Have a full-on conversation with yourself. Read the narration in between dialogue in a dramatic voice-over voice. Act out certain quirks or movements to see if someone’s hand could actually move the way you wrote it moving. Even quietly to yourself, saying your writing out loud - especially the dialogue - can work wonders for making your book that much stronger.
7. You aren’t planning your full series out ahead of time.
I’m telling on myself here. I am in the process of finishing up the Thistlewolf trilogy, which is a YA paranormal romance horror series I published book one in October yeah we know ANYWAY. I knew what was supposed to happen in book 3, mostly. But I did not finish plotting out the arc of the final book in my series until November of 2018. A month after book 1 in the trilogy was already published and book 2 was on draft 3 or 4. Which means I have concrete rules of this world and relationships, etc etc, in PRINT. For the world to see. I can’t decide to change things in CB to fit better with what I want to happen in SW. I almost have to write SW around CB in order to avoid plot holes. INSTEAD: Plot your series out ahead of time. Know the major beats of every book and how their arc travels across from the first book to the last. Understand what you want the end result to be and build your previous books around that, not vice-versa.
6. You think you’re entitled to consistent inspiration, and you don’t see the point of working when uninspired.
If writers only wrote when they were inspired, there’d be approximately seven books in the history of the world. Inspiration is awesome. It’s exciting and freeing and fulfilling when you feel inspired to write. But it’s not as common as you’d think. INSTEAD: understand the importance of commitment and dedication over inspiration. Make time for it, and stick to it even when you don’t feel motivated. Push through the blocks and the slumps and understand writing for what it is: hard work.
5. You think your first draft is a book.
My sweet baby angel. It’s not. It’s just not. Don’t show it to people. Don’t query it. INSTEAD: Edit it. Revise it. Rewrite it. Edit it some more. Revise it again. Do more rewrites. Trust me.
4. You are sharing too much about your project on social media at too early of a stage.
Oh hi, all of my March and April videos. I wasn’t done with my garbage draft of BFAS when I started telling y’all all about it, and guess what? Total change of concept, theme, character names, relationships...literally just like the overall setting and message has stayed the same and that’s it. So now, sometimes when I go back to make edits, I feel bad because I’ve already said this thing is this way. Don’t do this. INSTEAD: Have a critique partner or an alpha reader that you can bounce early, terrible ideas off of with abandon instead of blasting your followers with every random idea about your project.
3. You’re treating your readers like they’re dumb.
A writer’s worst enemy is their tendency to over explain things. We spend months, even years of our lives learning and researching to make this book as realistic as possible, and we’ll be damned if we’re not going to include every single detail of how a 1957 Porche Speedster’s engine operates. But here’s the thing: the reader doesn’t give a single fuck about this. And they’ll tune right out when you try to shove unnecessary or plodding information in their faces. INSTEAD: leave them little breadcrumbs to follow. Drop hints and interesting little tidbits, but always leave them wanting more. Leave them asking questions and speculating on what certain things did or didn’t mean. It’s so much more satisfying as a reader to wonder about a story even after it’s over. And you want your story to linger in people’s heads long after they’ve read it. A great way to ensure that is by letting them fill in the blanks.
2. You’re not working on your platform because you haven’t published anything yet.
Oh, my sweet summer child. Social media is the most necessary evil a writer has to master, besides like, the great Oxford comma debate. Use them, shouldn’t be a debate. Anyways. This is the best way a writer can shoot themselves in the foot. INSTEAD: You should establish a presence on your preferred social media platform - or many - prior to ever getting a book deal, querying, editing, all of it. You should basically be trying to put yourself out there and network from the second you decide you wanna try to write a book. It takes time to build a following, and by the time your book is in the world, you want a built-in audience for it. Social media is the best and most widely available tool to do that.
1. You are sabatoging yourself with doubt and imposter syndrome.
If you missed my blog back in June about imposter syndrome, then you probably missed that I struggle with this a LOT. But the bottom line is, everyone gets in their own way from time to time. You are halting your progress and your growth because you feel unworthy or insecure about your ability. I hate to tell you, if you don’t believe in yourself and your work, you can’t really expect anyone else to. INSTEAD: fake it til you make it. Know you’re far from alone. And trust your process.
Please let me know if there’s anything I missed or if you disagree with the mistakes I mentioned here.

Slow Dancin’ by Rena Redhead (For RobStar Week 2021)
For @robxstar 's RobStar Week 2021. This one is based on Day 6's prompt "Formal Night". Previously did “Ikebana” for Day 1 and “Pretty” for Day 3, both posted on my tumblr page, along with a blog on my website (www.skywingknights.com) for “Ikebana” detailing thoughts on the writing process for that one. (Hope to have one for “Pretty” and “Slow Dancin’” each as well very soon, but the priority is to get these out first!).
Overall, I have to say RobStar week has been a wonderful get away from the woes and stresses of life. Yeah for romance, fluff, drama, and true love! <3 <3 <3
Oddly though, for some reason I’m really nervous about this one... But it’s time to throw nerves aside and to finally take a leap of faith, trusting the meanings will come through and that expressions of love with surpass any barrier, even that of language. Below is the first part of the story. Read the full story at the link following this first part. Hope you like it!
Later,
~Rena
PS. For some mood music, I suggest “Slow Dancin’“ by Yuya Matsushita, the inspiration for this little fan fic. ;)

Slow Dancin’
The taxi came to a stop. Jason had told her it was probably best not to fly in, since technically this wasn't a solely superhero event. Actually, that's not what he said. It was more along the lines of "Bruce would let me get killed again if you flew in" or something snarky like that. Kory had only grinned awkwardly. She really wasn't all that comfortable with this set up. She felt rather… out of place.
But Jason had begged, "Come on Kory, if I go with no one, I'm going to have to deal with all the mockery from those losers the whole night."
Said losers were the other young members of the Wayne household, Kory could infer, though she didn't really think those were necessarily accurate descriptions based off of her own interactions with them. Though to be fair, they were his adopted brothers. And there was really no telling what kind of antics took place behind any family's closed doors. But at the mention of… well, at their mention, at the possibility, Kory had felt her stomach tighten.
"Your brothers are going?"
Jason's tongue almost retracted down his throat unnaturally at what he deemed a deep insult. Almost, but not quite, "Well, Damian will be. Tim probably. Dick won't be."
The lump in her throat subsided slightly and after a pause, she finally relented, "Okay."
The cab driver opened the door and she stepped out. Yes, this feeling was… most certainly one of being out of place. Again. Everyone else was arriving in limos. Or Hummer SUVs. And everyone else looked… normal. She was on the other hand "a golden skinned beauty"… That's how Roy put it. But really, she was an alien and people gawked from the corners of their eyes as they quickly turned away from her, though that wasn't really why she felt so…
She couldn't finish her train of thought. She didn't really want to.
She looked around for her escort who came up the road on his motorcycle with it screeching to a halt, kicking up gravel and dirt. Many of the guests gasped and coughed, thinking that he was going to crash into them. But Kory didn't move. Jason wasn't that stupid.
"Hey babe, thanks for coming."
Okay, maybe he was at least a little stupid. Kory smiled tightly at the name. She still wasn't sure how she felt when people called her that. As she had "matured", she had found many people began saying that she was beautiful, whether to her face or behind her back. But beauty wasn't everything and right now, she much rather just wanted to kind of fade into the background. That's all.
"It is no problem," She told her friend.
Jason jumped off the bike, put it into park in the middle of the road and extended an arm for her to take. She sighed and took it while valets glared at Jason angrily. If he wasn't Wayne's son… the fact he was making trouble for them in forcing them to deal with his obnoxious bike would have landed him on their unfriendlies list which would have gotten him barred from the gala.
The two however walked into the main hallway of Wayne Manor without any problem. It was lit up so brightly that even the sun's brilliance seemed challenged. Fountains of drinks, chocolate truffles, waiters carrying hors d'oeuvres around for the guests, the decorations of silk and glamourous diamonds wrapped around the banisters and hanging from chandeliers, all at least over a century old… Kory had almost forgotten what a party at Wayne Manor was like, but this brought it all… all of the memories back.

Didn’t Need Burrow (May 25th-May 28th)
Anonymous asked:
Throwing in a last second Didn't Need Burrow - Chloe and Zoe are the same age, even though they're not twins. It's unclear if they're Irish twins or if the writers just didn't think it through. (Probably the latter.)
We’ve already got them in what is presumably the same grade?
Only a matter of time now.
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: Kagami will only be used for three reasons in Optigami: sadrien, hints of lukagami (to kill love rivals), and making Marinette guilty
show: *has Kagami break up and avoid Adrien*
immediately after: *show forces very next Kagami episode to be about Adrien instead of Marigami friendship like it should’ve been*
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: The Love Square gets together but at the cost of the show's pacing, plot, and characters.
Yeaaaah, just gonna put this on the yellow “partly happened at this point in time” in the spreadsheet.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Alya and Marinette will divide the role of the Guardian of Miraculous between themselves. Bonus: Marinette will have Guardian's responsibilities, while Alya will have Guardian's perks.
I mean, Alya already got the privilege of knowing that Marinette is Ladybug, so...
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Hawkmoth / Shadow Moth will continue to make "clever" plans where he is doing something that he shouldn't be capable of. (like in "Collector" and "Heroes' Day" episodes) Bonus: It's explicitly said that his plan shouldn't be possible.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Chat Noir and/or Hawkmoth do something that they shouldn't be capable of.
No.
No please.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien will be shoved into episodes that don't need him/would be better wihout him.
Well, we’ve already got... what? 20+ episodes of the whole series that’d be better off without him.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need Burrow: I will be revealed that Adrien initially gave Lila slack for her smear campain againts Marinette because "How could I get mad at someone whose name is a PUN?" This will be presented as light-hearted comedy ala his Chloè "Hahaha, she'll never change." comment in "Despair Bear".
It sounds ridiculous and yet... who knows with the writing.
.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Chat Noir's power of Destruction are also increased. Bonus points if he got that power-up essentially for nothing.
No no, he did do something!
He breathed!
Anonymous asked:
(Mylene's personality anon again. This time someone else than Mylene) Didn't Need Burrow: Zoe entire personality will be loose combination of Marinette, Sabrina and Fanon!Redeemed!Chloe's personality traits
The personality-driven “Didn’t Need Burrow”s.
We’ll see on that one. If Zoe trips on nothing one day, I might have to scream into a pillow.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien (or Alya) use their Miraculous for selfish purposes and walks away completely scot-free.
[”Glaciator” flashbacks]
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette will pass Guardianship over to Alya, believing that she handles it better.  This is presented as Mari selfishly shirking HER responsibilities, and any screw-ups/bad decisions Alya makes as Guardian are blamed entirely on Marinette.
Because the show can’t make up its mind, apparently.
I imagine it’d be an episode where Marinette gives Alya the Miracle Box rather than specifically passing guardianship. Similar thing, just different.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: After learning that Alya/Rena knows Ladybug's secret, Adrien/Chat Noir deliberately sabotages her by 'accidentally' outing her identity in public. He then insists that Alya can't be Rena Rouge anymore, much like how Chloe can't be Queen Bee/Marinette can't be Multimouse after being exposed.  Alya, naturally, wants to continue regardless.  Maribug is forced into a no-win situation where any response she has to the drama pisses off Chat Noir, Alya, or both.
“No-win” situation has basically become Marinette’s life at this point.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: A charity auctions off an 'outing with Ladybug' as a prize... without Ladybug's permission. She's forced to comply despite not agreeing in the first place.  Adrien uses his father's money to secure the winning bid; Gabriel ruins the date, leading to Chat Noir being EXCEEDINGLY pissed off during the inevitable akuma.  (Most likely blaming Ladybug for putting her duty ahead of Adrien's personal pleasure.)  Marinette's DEEP discomfort at the whole situation is played for laughs.
brb screaming into the void
also, that is so extremely specific and A+
Marinette is of course blamed for disliking being auctioned off because “iT’s fOr cHAAAARITY”
Anonymous asked:
Didn't need Burrow Audrey Cheating on Andre, the freaking Mayor, would never be brought up on the show, not even by news outlets. Audrey and Chloe will continue to get whatever they want and Andre will be cool with it, despite the fact that his wife cheated on him.
“Bonus” if they blame Andre for Audrey’s cheating somehow or just make the whole situation seem awkwardly sympathetic to both of them equally.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow; Zoe will change into one of "You must be a better person, Marinette" writers' mouthpiece
Zoe i s2g, I’m trying to like you, don’t mess this up for me.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Alya will casually insult Marinette's relative lack of progress as a Guardian, implying that her struggles are connected to her relationship woes rather than having too much on her plate.  Bonus: Su-Han agrees with Alya, even while slamming Marinette for letting her in on those secrets in the first place.
And of course, Alya’s influence in Marinette’s “relationship woes” will be ignored.

A Miraculous TikTok Account
Part 12
First
Previous
Next
Carapace stared at the two different files on his computer, his mouse hovering between them.
What should he do? Should he force himself to finish his schoolwork tonight so he could have the next day off once class was over? Or should he work on a video for TikTok while he had motivation?
Or he could do both…?
He made a brief trip down to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and his eyes narrowed when he saw that the coffee machine had mysteriously disappeared, as had all the coffee pods.
Chat hated coffee, but Rena and Chloe both accepted some when offered --.
Oh, who was he kidding? He knew the culprit.
He made his way up to the attic and he found Chloe and Ladybug cuddling under some blankets (or, rather, Chloe was cuddling Ladybug, Ladybug was sketching something and listening to music). It wasn’t even a particularly cold day, but he had long-since lost the need to question most of the weird things that miraculous holders did. It was probably a miraculous thing, it was whatever.
His nose picked up the distinct smell of coffee and he caught sight of the mug Chloe was using to warm her hands. Or maybe she was holding it for Ladybug. Or both. Whatever.
Ladybug didn’t even look up from her sketchbook.
Chloe did, though, barely lifting her head off of Ladybug’s shoulder to meet his eyes.
“Bonjour,” she said. Detached and formal, but it was better than her usual habit of just… rudely jumping into conversation without saying hi. He would take it.
“Salut,” he said. “Where’s the coffee?”
Chloe hesitated, then nudged Ladybug. She blinked behind her mask and pulled an earbud out of her ear.
“Mmm?”
“Carapace wants coffee.”
Ladybug looked a little put out but pointed her pencil at the desk, where the stolen coffee machine now resided.
He nodded and made his way over. He reached into the jar of coffee pods and then paused.
“I went shopping yesterday. How many has she had?”
Ladybug, who hadn’t yet put her earbud back in, flushed red. “An amount. Who are you, my dad? Leave it alone.”
“You’re going to die --.”
“No, I won’t. I’m monitoring my dosage.”
He opened his mouth to argue, and then decided it wasn’t worth it. “Whatever. I’m taking the machine back downstairs.”
This got a pout.
The blanket moved. He heard Chloe gasp a little as if she’d been jabbed in the side. She gave Ladybug a slight glare before rolling her eyes and sticking her lower lip out as well.
Now he was getting two pouts.
“Don’t give me that. Just be glad I’m not cutting you off entirely.”
This got Ladybug to shape up. She quickly put her earbud back in and went back to sketching.
Chloe looked between them and gave an exasperated huff, then went back to attempting to steal her friend’s(? Carapace was kind of confused about their relationship, if he was honest) body heat.
He took the machine down and poured himself a cup, then went back to his computer.
… damn. He’d taken too long and now his motivation to edit footage for TikTok was gone.
Whatever, he thought as he took a sip of his coffee, at least he could get his schoolwork done.
~
Okay, so, mistakes were made.
He groaned and rubbed his face sleepily as he detached his face from his desktop the next morning, his phone alarm blaring that it was time to wake up. The caffeine had kept him up until five in the morning. He’d forgotten that Ladybug had gotten the highest dosage she could last time. Damn it.
He slowly reached for his phone and pulled up the screen to turn off the alarm.
His eyes landed on the time.
He had fifteen minutes to get across Paris for class.
Not possible for him as a civilian, but Carapace…
Wayzz gave him a tired look, as he usually did when he was about to use his miraculous for personal gain, but he ignored it as he scooped everything on his desk into his bag.
He sniffed his hoodie and decided it was fine.
He did apply some extra deodorant, though. Just in case.
“Shell on,” he said, slinging his backpack over his shoulders just before he transformed and jumping out of his window.
Being the ‘nice hero’ was a bit inconvenient when he needed to get places quickly.
He had to stop every few rooftops to wave and smile at people lest he run into a chimney or walk right over the side of the building in his distraction. Beyond just his image, people are getting akumatized over anything these days, so it was necessary that he be nice to them. He was just grateful no one thought to ask for a picture or something.
But he managed to be on time. Barely. He detransformed in an alley near the school and sprinted the rest of the way to class. The door was pushed open a minute before it was due to start. However, in his haste, he tripped over the sill. He faceplanted.
Great, he thought bitterly as he rubbed his sore cheek. At least no one would suspect him to be a hero after that.
He walked over to an empty seat and plopped himself down, fighting the urge to sink into his hoodie as eyes followed him.
Thankfully, class was starting, so everyone was quickly distracted by the lecture.
It was about theater in the east for once! Cool!
A mere twenty minutes into class, the TV flickered to life and there was a collective groan as a few people leaned forward in their seats to see if the akuma was even worth heading to the nearest shelter for.
He barely even looked over. The people that had leaned forward had settled back into their seats pretty quickly, so it probably wasn’t anything major.
He smiled a little to himself. The best part of the new arrangement of everyone living together was that they all knew each other’s schedules. This meant he didn’t have to worry about being called upon during class --.
His phone vibrated in his bag.
Nope, he decided. He had just imagined that. Surely, they knew that he wasn’t able to do anything --.
His phone vibrated again. And again. And again.
The people around him were sending him annoyed looks.
He cursed in Arabic and pulled it from his bag.
Kittychat: It’s a water one and no one has any powerups. :(
Queenie: Carapace.
Foxyou: Spam him lol
Queenie: You’re right.
He scowled as his phone started blowing up thanks to the three of them.
Capot: im in class
Kittychat: Oh. Sorry. :(
Queenie: Don’t be sorry! We need him!
Foxyou: If we spam him enough he might get kicked out
Great. Now his phone was blowing up again, courtesy of only Rena and Chloe this time.
“Monsieur…” The professor began, looking through his attendance sheet momentarily before apparently decided it wasn’t worth the effort to find his name. “Would you like to share with the rest of the class?”
He sighed a little. Fine. Guess he’d do his stupid job or whatever.
“Sorry, my friend is new to Paris and she’s freaking out about the akuma. It’s her first one. Can I go check on her?”
“Sure. Just remember to do the homework. It’s due tonight at midnight.”
He nodded that he understood and reluctantly gathered his things. Within a few minutes he was out of class and transformed and on his way towards the body of water the akuma had claimed.
It just HAD to be a water one.
Hawkmoth probably did it on purpose, too. He loved being an inconvenience, Carapace wouldn’t put it past him to have figured out he was in a rush thanks to his running around that morning and deciding it was time to make a water akuma.
He sighed for what must have been the millionth time that day as he spotted the giant tentacle monster in the river.
Sure. Why not?
