On February 5th 1941 the S S Politician, with a cargo of whisky, ran aground of the North Shore of the Island of Eriskay.
The SS Politician was an 8000-tonne cargo ship which left Liverpool on the 3rd February 1941 laden with amongst other things 260,000 bottles of whisky, bound for Kingston in Jamaica and New Orleans. The whisky was for the American market and therefore no duty had been paid. She sailed up past the Isle of Man towards the Hebrides where the winds increased to gale force.
On the morning of 5th February a young man was combing a beach in South Uist when he saw the ship in trouble and beginning to list. After a valiant struggle by the Captain, Beaconsfield Worthington, to keep his ship on course, the SS Politician eventually ran aground in the storm onto sandbanks off the Isle of Eriskay where she began to flood. Unfortunately as the ship had veered off course an incorrect location was given to the lifeboat crew on Barra. Local islanders were roused and they set forth in a sailing boat to offer assistance to the crew. The lifeboat finally reached the ship and all the crew were rescued.
When the locals learned from the crew exactly what the ship was carrying, a series of illegal salvage operations took place at night, before the customs and excise officials arrived. The islands supplies of whisky had dried up due to war-time rationing, so the islanders periodically helped themselves to some of the 260,000 bottles of whisky before winter weather broke up the ship. Boats came from as far away as Lewis as news of the whisky travelled across the Outer Hebrides. No islander regarded it as stealing, as for them the rules of salvage meant that once the bounty was in the sea, it was theirs to rescue.
This of course was not the view of the local customs officer, Charles McColl, who was incensed at the blatant thievery that was going on. Not a penny had been paid in duty for this whisky so Mr McColl whipped up a furore and made an official complaint to the police. Villages were raided and crofts were turned upside down. Bottles were hidden, secreted, or sometimes drunk in order to hide the evidence.
On 26 April at Lochmaddy Sheriff Court a group of men from Barra pleaded guilty to theft and were fined between three and five pounds. Mr McColl was furious at the leniency of the men’s sentences, but the police, being mainly locals themselves, were tired of the bothering the locals who had not, in their minds, done such a bad thing. However, Mr McColl continued his crusade against these illegal salvagers and some of the men were sentenced to up to six weeks in prison in Inverness and Peterhead.
Back at sea, the official salvage attempts were not going too well, and it was eventually decided to let the Politician remain where she was. Mr McColl, who had already estimated that the islanders had stolen 24,000 bottles of whisky, ensured that there would be no more temptation. He applied for, and was granted, permission to explode her hull and as one islander, Angus John Campbell, commented: “Dynamiting whisky. You wouldn’t think there’d be men in the world so crazy as that!”
In 1987 Donald MacPhee, a local South Uist man, found eight bottles of whisky in the wreck. He sold them at auction for £4,000.
The wreck of the SS Politician still lies off the coast of Eriskay, although it is below the water line as winter gales have destroyed the deck and cabins. In 1988 the island got its own ‘legitimate’ pub, named ‘Am Politician’.
The story was used by Compton Mackenzie for his book Whisky Galore, and later for the Ealing Studio comedy by the same name.A remake was released in 2016 starring James Cosmo and Gregor Fisher amongst others, I didn't expect it to be any good, but was pleasantly surprised.

PepsiCo once briefly held the worlds 6th largest naval fleet. In 1959 at the American National Exhibit in Moscow, Richard Nixon and Nikita Khruschchev became locked in a debate about Capitalism vs. Communism. Seeing this depate, the head of PepsiCo's international division, Donald Kendall, had Nixon offer Khruschchev a taste of Pepsi. Khruschchev thought the taste was phenomenal, and gathered a number of his friends and colleagues to try it.
In 1972, after Kendall had ascended to the position of CEO in 1963, a deal would finally be made to get Pepsi into the Soviet Union. However, Soviet currency had no value outside of the Soviet Union, so they had to resort to a barter. For every bottle of Pepsi sold, the SU would provide an equal amount of Stolichnaya vodka in return, to be re-sold in the US. This earned Pepsi the title of the first Capitalism-created product to pierce the Iron Curtain.
However, by the late 80s, PepsiCo realized that Russia was consuming more money's worth of Pepsi than they could make back by selling the Vodka. With this, PepsiCo approached the Soviet Union and let them know that the Vodka deal could not continue, and that they must come to some other arrangement. Seeing as Soviet money was still worthless overseas, the Soviet Union decided on a trade.
In 1989, in exchange for Pepsi's continued import into the SU, they were traded 17 Submarines, a Frigate, a Cruiser, and a Destroyer.
This trade placed PepsiCo firmly at the 6th largest naval fleet in the world.
Following this, PepsiCo proceeded to sell the ships to a Swedish Scrap Metal company.
Have a nice day :)
Huh. Huge if true.

Have you ever had a bucket list of places you would love to travel to, but never thought you'd have the chance? That was me right before my trip to Hawai'i. When I think about my last vacation I couldn't be more appreciative or thankful for the experience I had. Let's get into it!
November 5th my group of twelve all boarded into a few cabs and headed to Pearson Airport. We were flying from Toronto to Honolulu and heading to Disney's Aulani in Oahu.
The first thing I did once we were settled in our room was head out to Costco (you thought I’d say the beach didn't you?). Nope. Costco. I had never been to an American Costco before but always heard about how great they were! Spoiler alert, when you go to Costco on an island, it’s really not cheaper than at home. (Except for the bottle of 600 tablet Benadryl for $6.99 and the vast alcohol selection).
Tumblr media
BUT, I’m getting off-topic here. Once I got back from Costco I headed to my first booked activity - Family Fun Animation. We learned how to draw Pua from Moana (Did you know Moana is the first Disney movie to be dubbed in the Hawaiian language? Auli'i Cravalho who does the voice of Moana also voiced the Hawaiian dub!)
After being awake almost a full 24 hours I couldn’t wait for my head to hit the pillow.
Tumblr media
Once the sun decided to rise the next day, I was on my way to the beach. Looking out to the line the sky meets the sea you could see some of the Naval ships patrolling the waters and a brief look into the sky would reveal Army jets flying overhead. It was only then that I remembered we were in a US State with a Naval Base nearby. As a bit of a history buff, I appreciated the chance to see the vessels in real life, even if my ears didn’t appreciate the sound of the jets.
I treated myself to a Stitch Dole Whip and spent by day by the water while the rest of the group went out and explored the Island.
Tumblr media
Day Three was a water/pool day and a few laps on the Lazy River. I enjoyed a Mickey Shaved Ice and even paid extra for the Mickey Ears. It was delicious.
This was also the day I discovered the delicious mozzarella sticks! I explored the resort and learned a lot about the history of the Island. We got to experience a real Ukulele lesson from an Island local and it was an experience I’ll never forget!
Tumblr media
Did you know Maui is a huge part of Hawaiian Culture? His story is told everywhere throughout the Island.
Tumblr media
Thursday marked the halfway point through our week, but was the day I was looking forward to most. That evening we were going to a real Disney Hawaiian Luau!
The day was wonderful and I made it my mission to meet as many Disney characters as possible. Goofy, Minnie, Stitch, Mickey, Chip and Dale and Moana were on the list for the day. Moana asked if Toronto was like Elsa cold and I laughed at the comparison - yes Moana, yes it is.
Yes, I am 38 years old. Yes, I met the characters alone. No, I did not regret it at all! What I did regret was my inability to not yell “ITS MICKEY” out loud.
Tumblr media
The Luau was incredible. We were able to get Hawaiian “tattoos”, try Tarro, and get lei’d before the show began. There was a full Hawaiian buffet dinner with Hawaiian drinks and a Luau. The food was delicious and I even ventured away from my normal picky eater menu items. We experienced an amazing performance and storytelling all in the styling of Disney.
I legitimately sat at the table, felt the breeze, heard the sounds, tasted the food, and just took in the full Hawaiian experience.
On the list for the next day were, Daisy and Donald Duck, Angel, Pluto, and Max (and yes I asked him about the “Leaning Tower of cheeza”).
youtube
I also was so looking forward to seeing the sunset that evening… I don’t know about you, but there’s something about seeing the sunset over the horizon and all the colours dancing in the sky that makes me so happy. I took 100+ pictures of the view and helped myself to a pizza with Hawaiian Pineapple on it. This is the ONLY time pineapple is acceptable on pizza by the way.
Tumblr media
My final full day on the island was filled with more sand, sun and water… plus a few more Dole Whips and Shaved Ice. It was also the day I realized my sunburn was way worse than I originally thought.
A beautiful sunset and poolside show tied the day, and the week together nicely. With that, I prepared myself for the long haul home.
Tumblr media
I thought my fun vacation was over until we had our ten-hour layover in Vancouver. While the rest of the group rested, I explored the airport a little. I was looking for directions when I heard a familiar voice behind me - it was KallMeKris! (click her name if you're not sure who she is!) We had an awesome conversation and I was elated. I couldn’t believe my luck.
Tumblr media
Once we boarded our flight the reality set in that I was going home. But I was going home to my dog, my animals, and my bed and I was so grateful that.
Have you ever gotten to travel somewhere you never thought you’d see? Where? Let me know in the comments!

In battleground Arizona, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. draws Biden and Trump voters (AP) Some voted for Donald Trump, others for Joe Biden. A few had never wanted anything to do with politics before they heard Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on a podcast or YouTube video. Lined up outside a Phoenix wedding hall tucked between a freeway, a railroad track and a U-Haul rental center, the hundreds of people who turned out Wednesday to hear Kennedy speak shared little in common ideologically. What united them was a deep-seated distrust of the media, of corporations and especially of the government and a belief that Kennedy is the only person in politics willing to tell them the truth. Voters are not enthusiastic about a Biden-Trump rematch, and alternatives like Kennedy or the No Labels third-party movement, which would typically be longshots, see an opening. Kennedy’s appearance in a 2024 battleground state highlights how he could influence the election in ways that are tough to predict. Allies of both Trump and Biden have expressed concerns that Kennedy’s independent bid could pull votes from their candidate in next year’s expected general election rematch.
Migrant caravan in southern Mexico marks Christmas Day by trudging onward (AP) Christmas Day meant the same as any other day for thousands of migrants walking through southern Mexico: more trudging under a hot sun. There were no presents, and Christmas Eve dinner was a sandwich, a bottle of water and a banana handed out by the Catholic church to some of the migrants in the town of Álvaro Obregón, in the southern state of Chiapas, which borders Guatemala. Migrants spent Christmas night sleeping on a scrap of cardboard or plastic stretched out under an awning or tent, or the bare ground. At around 6,000 people, the migrant caravan that set out Sunday was the largest one since June 2022, when a similarly sized group departed Tapachula.
Police in Peru dress up as Santa for festive drugs bust (The Independent) Police in Peru have been spotted carrying out a drugs raid while dressed as Santa Claus. The undercover agents caught two men allegedly selling cocaine and cannabis in a house in Huaral, just north of Lima. ‘Santa’ could be seen using a sledgehammer to break down the door of the house, before removing his beard to cuff one of the suspects.
Plane passengers held pending human trafficking inquiry leave France for India (Reuters) A plane carrying 276 Indian passengers took off on Monday for Mumbai, the French interior ministry’s local office said, after it was grounded for four days pending investigation into possible human trafficking. The flight, carried out by Romanian charter company Legend Airlines, had departed from Dubai and landed at the small Vatry airport on Thursday for a technical stopover when police intervened. Bound for Nicaragua, the flight arrived in France with 303 Indian passengers onboard. After being interrogated by police, two people investigated for human trafficking have been placed under “assisted witness” status while the investigation continues, according to the prosecutor’s office. Another 25 people, including five minors, have stayed in France where they wish to seek asylum, authorities said.
Russian naval ship in Crimea damaged in airstrike by Ukrainian forces, Russian Defense Ministry says (AP) A Russian naval ship in Crimea was damaged in an airstrike by Ukrainian forces, Russia’s Defense Ministry said Tuesday. The landing ship Novocherkassk was hit at a base in the city of Feodosia by plane-launched guided missiles, the ministry said, adding that two Ukrainian fighter jets were destroyed by anti-aircraft fire during the attack. Over the past several months, Ukrainian forces have conducted attacks around Crimea, mostly with sea drones.
China expects searing heat, more weather extremes in 2024 (Reuters) China grappling with one of its coldest Decembers on record will likely have to brace for another round of scorching heat and an increase in extreme weather next year due to the El Nino weather phenomenon, a senior climate expert said. This year has seen China lurch from some of its hottest temperatures logged since 1850 to a harsh cold snap that froze many parts of the country for close to a fortnight earlier this month. This past summer saw Beijing bake in record heat while a remote township in the country’s arid northwest logged a day of 52 degrees Celsius (126 Fahrenheit) the hottest on record for China. Typhoons also brought record-breaking rainfall in China’s north, causing widespread flooding.
Israel’s Economy Expected to Shrink 2% as War Sidelines Workers (NYT) The Israeli economy is expected to shrink by 2 percent this quarter, according to a leading research center, with hundreds of thousands of workers displaced by the war with Hamas or called up as reservists. About 20 percent of the Israeli work force was missing from the labor market in October, up from 3 percent before the fighting began, according to a report from the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies, a nonpartisan think tank in Israel. The spike in unemployment reflects the fact that about 900,000 people were called up to fight, stayed home to take care of children because schools had closed, evacuated from towns near the borders with Lebanon and Gaza or couldn’t work because of physical damage to their industries.
Lose a limb or risk death? Gaza’s wounded face hard choices (AP) The doctors gave Shaimaa Nabahin an impossible choice: lose your left leg or risk death. The 22-year-old had been hospitalized in Gaza for around a week, after her ankle was partially severed in an Israeli airstrike, when doctors told her she was suffering from blood poisoning. Nabahin chose to maximize her chances of survival, and agreed to have her leg amputated 15 centimeters (6 inches) below the knee. The decision upended life for the ambitious university student, as it has for untold others among the more than 54,500 war-wounded who faced similar gut-wrenching choices. Experts believe that in some cases, limbs could have been saved with proper treatment. But after weeks of Israel’s blistering air and ground offensive, only nine out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are still operational. They are greatly overcrowded, offer limited treatment and lack basic equipment to perform surgeries. Many wounded are unable to reach the remaining hospitals, pinned down by Israeli bombardment and ground combat.
Saudis Keep Low Profile in Red Sea Conflict (NYT) After rebels took over the capital of Yemen in 2014, a 30-year-old Saudi prince named Mohammed bin Salman spearheaded a military intervention to rout them. With American assistance and weapons, Saudi pilots embarked on a bombing campaign called Operation Decisive Storm inside Yemen, the mountainous nation on their southern border. Officials expected to swiftly defeat the rebels, a ragtag tribal militia known as the Houthis. Instead, the prince’s forces spent years mired in a conflict that splintered into fighting between multiple armed groups, drained billions of dollars from Saudi Arabia’s coffers and helped plunge Yemen into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Hundreds of thousands of people died from violence, hunger and unchecked disease. Saudi Arabia and its main partner, the United Arab Emirates, eventually scaled back their military involvement, and Saudi officials entered peace talks with the Houthis, who secured control of northern Yemen. Now, the war in Gaza has thrust the Houthis whose ideology is driven by hostility toward the United States and Israel and support for the Palestinian cause into an unlikely global spotlight. Saudi Arabia, however, would rather watch these latest developments from the sidelines, with the prospect of peace on its southern border a more appealing goal than joining an effort to stop attacks that the Houthis say are directed at Israel a state the kingdom does not officially recognize and which is widely reviled by its people.
Attack in Nigeria (Foreign Policy) At least 160 people were killed and 300 people wounded in attacks on villages in central Nigeria, local officials said Monday. Monday Kassah, head of the local government in Bokkos, Plateau State, told the AFP that armed groups locally known as bandits launched attacks on at least 20 communities. Plateau State Gov. Caleb Mutfwang condemned the violence as “barbaric, brutal, and unjustified,” and governor’s office spokesperson Gyang Bere vowed to take proactive measures to protect civilians. However, Amnesty International criticized the government following the attacks, writing on X that “the Nigerian authorities have been failing to end frequent deadly attacks on rural communities of Plateau State.”
A Thriving Border Town Undercuts South Africa’s Anti-Immigrant Mood (NYT) By 7 a.m., lines of customers snake down the block outside stores on the main commercial strip in Musina, a bustling South African border town where thousands of people arrive daily from neighboring Zimbabwe to buy food, clothes and other necessities that are hard to get back home. A few miles away, at the border, pickup trucks bearing the seal of South Africa’s newly formed border patrol inspect the razor-wire fence, looking to arrest people who cross illegally braving bandits, crocodiles and the rushing Limpopo River. The border force represents an effort by the government, months ahead of crucial national elections, to respond to popular demand and clamp down on migrants sneaking into the country. Musina, surrounded by farms and a copper mine, is where the government’s muscular immigration policy collides with a tricky reality that many South Africans are loath to concede: that even people who cross the border illegally may be good for the country. Like politicians in the United States, Europe and elsewhere who score points by promising hardened borders and mass deportation, their South African counterparts are pitching a sweeping crackdown on foreigners to appeal to voters, playing on similar, often-unfounded fears that immigrants fuel crime and steal jobs.
Pope Francis blasts the weapons industry as he makes a Christmas appeal for peace in the world (AP) Pope Francis on Monday blasted the weapons industry and its “instruments of death” that fuel wars as he made a Christmas Day appeal for peace in the world and in particular between Israel and the Palestinians. Speaking from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica to the throngs of people below, Francis said he grieved the “abominable attack” of Hamas against southern Israel on Oct. 7 and called for the release of hostages. And he begged for an end to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the “appalling harvest of innocent civilians” as he called for humanitarian aid to reach those in need. Francis devoted his Christmas Day blessing to a call for peace in the world, noting that the biblical story of the birth of Christ in Bethlehem sent a message of peace. But he said that Bethlehem “is a place of sorrow and silence” this year. He took particular aim at the weapons industry, which he said was fueling the conflicts around the globe with scarcely anyone paying attention. “It should be talked about and written about, so as to bring to light the interests and the profits that move the puppet strings of war,” he said. “And how can we even speak of peace, when arms production, sales and trade are on the rise?” Francis has frequently blasted the weapons industry as “merchants of death” and has said that wars today, in Ukraine, in particular, are being used to try out new weapons or use up old stockpiles.

Chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
AO3 Chapter 6
Chapter Six: There's Hope in Our Hands
Word Count: 2.6k
Leo wound up taking shelter in a larger ship than the others he had found. It was in a much worse condition on the outside, but the inside was surprisingly unscarred. He was lying stomach down on some plush leather-like padding he had assembled together into a pile on the floor in one of the larger rooms in the ship, he was sure the walls didn’t need it more than him.
The room was dark, but there was a small amount of light leaking in from the doorway to the hallway outside where a hole in the ceiling allowed its entry. If he needed to illuminate the room all he had to do was use his sword. Right now he was happily lounging on his makeshift mattress, his sword in front of him as he rested his head on his arms.
His photo was laid across the flat side of the blade and his purple Krang juice bottle was sitting next to it, a dull glow emanating from it, lighting up the picture. Being in a desolate pocket of space for possibly the rest of his life didn’t mean he couldn’t make an effort to be comfortable when he could manage it. Granted this was nothing compared to Big Mama’s hotel or his own bed at home in the lair, but it was the closest he was going to get for now.
Anything was better than his plastron scraping against the floor. He wasn’t glad about his new shelter per se, but he needed to get adjusted to a long stay, even if in his heart he knew his brothers weren’t wasting any opportunity to save him. He wished he could do something to help them, they probably were running around thinking he was dead or near to it.
Granted that a few hours ago he would’ve thought the same, but his run-in with Krang, as bad as it had been, surprisingly led to a much easier stay here. With a source of food or whatever you wanted to call it, and a place to sleep, Leo was pretty set for however many days he needed to recover. He wouldn’t need to go out to scavenge until his bottle ran empty, but other than that it was just a waiting game for him now.
At least that was what a rational mutant would’ve thought. Leo knew that is what he should be planning to do, rest and play the long game. He didn’t need to take any unnecessary risks of running into Krang again.
Hiding from said alien for the rest of his life sounded like the only thing left to do. Maybe it was the part of Leo that didn’t like to sit still for too long, the itch in his legs that demanded that he got up and walked around to burn some energy every once in a while. All that pent-up energy used to be for bothering his brothers and for their missions, but now it was bottling up in him.
Long story short, he was restless.
He sighed through his nose, his eyes sliding over to look at his sword again in the dimly lit room. His mind began to work up a new idea as he stared at it. Where was his other sword? Could it still be in the prison dimension somewhere? It would make life here even easier if he had both katanas.
He wouldn’t have to worry about losing his balance or not being able to move fast enough through the empty spaces if he had both. If he got into another confrontation with Krang, all it would take was keeping his distance, a lot easier than hoping he was flying through space fast enough to slip away into a portal.
Leon felt like such a dum-dum, as Donald always claimed him to be, because how could he have not thought of using this sword to see if his other one was here too? And who knew, maybe his other sword was on Earth and he could bypass the mystic block on his portals and get a free ticket back home. Oh, he would be kicking himself if that idea actually worked, but part of him doubted it.
If he couldn’t make a portal home, why would trying to teleport to his sword be any different? Maybe because it was physically there? Leo shook his head, he had no idea, if it worked he would just ask Donnie to explain it after no doubt being chewed out for making them wait so long for his grand entrance.
Leo tapped his fingers on the sides of his arms, softer on the right arm, glancing around the room. If his other sword was here with him and he did get teleported to it, he could just as easily make a portal back to this ship and take a nice long nap with another advantage under his belt.
What was the worst-case scenario? If neither idea worked then nothing would change and he still gets to take his nap. Leo lightly chewed the inside of his cheek as he considered it, a swell of hopeful excitement bubbling up in his chest.
Screw it. Leo got up from his nest and picked up his sword.
—--------
Donnie awoke with a start, his mind having gifted him with a nightmare filled with twisting tentacles and wet curls of flesh creeping up his shell and caressing it, begging for access. His whole body shivered as he recalled the sickly feeling of the Technodrome's command system, as amazing as it had felt after he got pulled inside it, he had never felt so disgusted and used in his entire life after the experience. He nearly jumped off the gurney when he felt a hand grabbing at his understandably sensitive shell but relaxed a fraction when he realized it was Mikey still cuddling up to him in his sleep. He was tense from the touch, gently reaching around to desperately pry his brother off of him.
He glanced over to the recliner where Raph had been sleeping last night, surprised to see that all that remained in the chair was the blanket Splinter had tossed over him. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised. Raph never did sleep in like the rest of them on normal days, although Donnie could easily do the same if he wasn’t always up so late. It was a consequence of his own actions.
Donnie threw his legs over the side of the bed and glanced at his wrist panel, shocked to see it was 10 AM. The audacity they had for allowing him to sleep that long! He only went to bed at three in the morning! He had things to do today, he should've been up at least two hours ago!
Donatello fumed as he rose from his spot, quickly turning to make sure Mikey was still swaddled in blankets and stormed out of the med bay. Either he was going to yell at Raph for not waking him, or he was going to leave that argument on the back burner and go to his lab to start writing out ideas for interdimensional travel. Whichever came first.
It didn't take him long to see Raph as he crossed through the lair, his big red brother was standing outside the mini dojo that none of them really used. His curiosity peaked a bit at the odd location, but it was irrelevant to his displeasure with his brother.
"Oh, Raphael, my large doe-eyed compatriot!" Donnie remarked a greeting in an almost sing-along tone laced with unbridled frustration, his brother turning to look at him with a smile on his face. That threw Donnie for a loop as Raph reached out to pull him closer, thankfully not actually touching him as Donnie jerked away from his hand.
"Look at this!" Raphael said with an excited glimmer in his eyes as he directed his brother's attention to the dojo. Donnie decided to humor his brother for some unforeseen reason, turning his head to look into the room. His breath caught as he saw the flash of silver and blue.
Donnie’s eyes widened as he spotted the blade in Casey’s hands, seeing him in that pose, doing those practice moves. His body moved on its own, his mind left at the door as he sped over and violently snatched it from him. Casey tried to protest as it was ripped from his grasp, but he recoiled under the look of rage on Donnie’s face.
The soft shell ignored the look in his eyes, he didn’t hear Raph and Splinter calling out to him, reaching out to pull him away from Casey as he growled in his face.
“This is Leo’s! You don’t get to use it whenever you want!” Donatello shouted at him, breathing hard as his anger peaked. He didn’t understand why he was so angry, why did his chest hurt so much? Raph’s arms grabbed him firmly, guiding Donnie by the shoulders and moving him away from Casey. He gave the human teen an apologetic look before turning his attention back to his purple brother.
“Donnie, he didn’t do anything bad, you need to calm down.” Raph tried to de-escalate his outburst, “I know you’re worried about Leo, we all are, but it’s just a sword. Casey was just-” Donnie stomped his foot as he clutched the katana closer to his body.
“It’s not just a sword! It’s Leo’s! Only Leo can use it, it isn’t meant for anyone else!” Donnie yelled as he tried to reason with Raph as if this was an argument. He needed him to understand why seeing Casey trying to use Leo’s sword upset him so much. He was not going to allow his brother to be replaced, he was out there, and he was going to come home.
He needed both of his swords when he got back so they could continue doing their missions just like before, so he could teleport into Donnie’s lab to annoy him, so he could use it to get pizza for everyone in a flash, so he could be the big dum-dum he had always been! Tears were streaming down his face as his body began to shake.
Raph didn’t say anything else, Donnie could feel him wrap his arms around him in a tight hug. Donnie let the sobs wrack through him, he felt safe in Raph’s arms as much as he normally didn’t accept his hugs, but he needed this. It’d be better for him later to get it all out now so he could dedicate all of himself to getting Leo back.
He crumbled in his big brother’s arms, Raph holding him up as he was sure his legs had given out. He had nuzzled his face into Raph’s shoulder, his tears overtaking him as he felt like he was drowning in it all. Leo was their brother, but as selfish as it sounded Donnie felt like it hurt him more to lose him.
They were the middle children, they had always gotten on each other’s nerves, called each other names, and pulled pranks on one another. When Donnie was confused or overwhelmed Leo was always there to help him, he knew him on another level that Raph and Mikey would never understand, no matter how hard they might try. Leo had always claimed they were twins, no matter how many times Donnie had pointed out to him that it was literally impossible since they were different species of turtle.
All their lives Leo insisted they were the twins of the family, that they were cut from the same cloth and that they would always be thick as thieves. They never tried to diminish Raph and Mikey, they loved them just as equally, but there was an undeniable connection between them that just felt right.
They were twins, but what happened when one twin lost the other? What happened when you lost your carbon copy? When it felt like a part of you was missing that you feared you would never get back?
What do you use to fill that empty void in your heart that felt like it was never going to stop growing?
Donnie’s body shook as he clung to Raph even tighter, his brother already prepared with steadfast affection, gently rubbing his back as he let him cry it all out into his shoulder.
Donnie felt a vibration in his hand, the handle of Leo’s sword growing warm against his palm. It shocked him out of his tearful fit, his eyes going wide as he forcefully pulled away from Raph to see what was happening.
It felt like his heart was lodged in his throat as he watched the sword light up with Leo’s undeniable mystic magic, the runes along the blade igniting with a blue intensity Donnie had never thought possible. The three others in the room gasped at the azure light slowly filling the room, the sword vibrating more and more as the glow grew. Donnie held it steady as he could do nothing but observe it, speechless.
“He’s alive.” He heard Raph whisper next to him. Donnie felt hope flood his heart as he kept staring at the blade as he registered Raph's words. Surely that was what this meant? Leo had to be doing this, somehow.
“Leo is alive! He must be trying to get home!” Raph shouted as he grabbed Donnie by the arms, lifting him into the air and spinning him around, a few tears sliding down his cheeks. Donnie wanted to encourage his celebration but he knew Leo wasn’t getting completely through to this sword, he would’ve appeared from thin air and fallen on top of them by now, it had never taken long for Leo to use them like that before.
He hoped his hypothesis was right as his heart sunk down to his stomach as the glow of the sword started to lower in intensity, the runes slowly going out as the energy dissipated. The atmosphere in the dojo stayed hopeful, but everyone’s faces held a reasonable ounce of worry.
“It’s still a good sign, right? Nothing else could’ve made it do that?” Raphael asked, lowering Donnie back to the ground. Donatello avoided his gaze as he watched Leo’s sword a moment longer, a small illogical part of his brain begged for it to activate again.
“It could be argued that this is a more positive than negative outcome.” Donnie settled on that answer as he kept a blank stare on Leo's weapon, the handle losing its warmth. He truly didn’t know what this meant, he didn’t know much of anything about how their mysticism really worked, but his gut said it was highly likely that Raph was right.
As uncertain as his answer may have been, it reassured everyone else in the room. His big red brother gave him another loving squeeze before letting him go and running for the exit.
“This is just the kind of news Mikey needs to wake up to!” Raph shouted as he disappeared into the lair, leaving Donnie with Splinter and Casey. His father walked into his peripheral, and he allowed his eyes to look away from the sword to his father.
“Well, aren’t your hands itching?” Splinter asked, his smile turning into the mischievous grin Donnie was almost relievingly familiar with. It wasn’t what he was expecting his dad to say, but he couldn’t fight his own smile pulling at his lips as he turned to follow after Raph, Leo's sword still firmly in hand.
 —--------
Leo sighed as he allowed himself to relax, he had pulled a full-body sweat from exerting himself. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how much energy he channeled into his sword, nothing happened. He did get a splitting headache during the whole thing, but he had endured it just to see if anything was possible.
Clearly, it wasn’t, but at least he wasn’t going to worry about what could have been if he hadn’t tried in the first place. Leo sighed in defeat as he placed his sword back on the ground, the runes dying out as his hand let go.
It was time for that nap.

This is the beer truck her son and daughter commenting and yeah they're always fighting has springs on it but it has no rubber it all give and those are solid tires on steel very strong steel they went slow but they had a big shocks well springs the things that bounce around by the time you get there you open it up in the physical right out until they came up with a better shocks so someone heard the idea and I tried to make a shock and they tried a whole bunch of stuff it didn't quite work at some point they made something just had resistance and it made it smoother and the beer was still good. So we got really cool cuz we didn't tell him how he doesn't always do that and this is one of the trucks and we know the guy knew who it was and why he was being told. My son got in trouble with it and it went after Jeff Miller who is Donald Trump and now Trump is failing his areas are falling and his computers are getting destroyed all of them.
We're going to deliver this to the higher-ups in our plastic bottles and this is for the select it is our select brand and we're going to put it in the bottles no kidding though this is a big advertising thing and it's to get it approved and to get it flowing and it's a giant giant move and some people like it mlc the guy got hurt by Tommy f but Trump and others were screwing around with him and they certainly probably see that's wrong they don't have anything of Tommy f so they're going to make the light cycle facility and will deliver our new models of our beer in plastic... They said they take some and we have a knockoff for Budweiser and they say they want a lot of that on Australia, bj says no. So probably only deliver a little.
Thor Freya
It's true that you keep doing that John reading the Lord and you're already in trouble and we hear why and it's terrible you don't want you to have any of this beer but you guys are already ordering tons of it
Mac daddy
He cannot preclude us from drinking their beer and it's their recipe and they do say it is it has to be cuz they changed it from unhealthy and it wasn't that healthy back then
Cork
It was a lot more healthy back then but this is more our recipe than his and his bear didn't taste that great because he didn't use really awesome ingredients, but some of it is the same and people will see that it does have a similar taste if they remember it
Thor Freya
Okay we see why the knockoff stuff came up and we're not going to allow it and they said they won't ship it and they are calling for a boycott but that's the trumpsters and Tommy a says he's going to load up on it and he wants the giant tanks delivered and he'll bring them to the shops and they're going to bring them down there huge tankers full you should see these tankers this is amazing he says we can bring him to Miami too and they need the piped in tabs but really if we bring in five can hook them all together so I started to believe something it's not really that tough and we can do that pretty quick and we're going to set up some places to do that in and really can set up a beer hall inside of Warehouse it's kind of similar thing and you just paint the top you put in some stuff and you put it in like a flooring system and call it a beer hall true too you can just put in like a slate tile or something it's someone non-slip for a while this other stuff that works better but he gets we get the idea you don't need to put down wood even though it's customary more or less it just does not ever work I don't want your damn stamp concrete this stuff is so nasty it's full of crap in minutes he was thinking a certain color of terrazzo or style that stuff is great by the way this is the topping on the concrete and you can get some of it non-slip and it doesn't get full of crap you can wash it out every night then go ahead and do that it's a good design and we need these things in pretty quick so we're going to say where I probably just put it in now instead of pumping the beer out it's their brand and everyone knows what it means and we're going to have a whole bunch of the beer bottles and cans and plastic on hand and they can come in warm and we'll have them in one corner stacked up like a pyramid to the ceiling and you can do that hopefully he said maybe half that I he said this huge block of them and people buy them come in and sample it and then buy your case that's the way to do it and they say they're going to give me a wholesalers license and I know that means it's real money it's going to be big money by the way this stuff sells everywhere
Mac daddy I knew the man so I'm going to open it up I'm going to do it all over the place

100% Kingdom Hearts 1 (Day 1)
Current Targets: Speedster Unchanging Armor Undefeated My nostalgia got slapped in the taint the moment the remix for Simple and Clean played. Watching that opening cinematic was a bit emotional admittedly. It reminded me of the halcyon days of my late teens. Sat in front of the warm glow of a CRT television, soda cans stacked high, and buttocks firmly planted in a comfortable green chair.
Now I’m sat in front of a much larger television bought with adult money, a bottle of water near by because sometimes my tummy gets upset, and my buttocks planted in a rather comfortable modestly priced couch. My first venture into reminding myself of the controls had me also remembering that this game had relatively decent combat. I don’t remember bouncing off of enemies as often as I did, but it was a pleasant surprise to feel how responsive the controls were overall.
The camera, however, is another matter. I feel like this is the strongest enemy in the game as it waffles around trying to get me the best view of Sora’s inseam. It certainly was quite the formidable foe when I got to Destiny Island and decided to 3v1 the first few Final Fantasy characters that were introduced. I was able to win first try, however, but most likely because I am playing on easy and took multiple steroids before the fight.
I beat Riku 2-0 all while very convinced of a friend’s theory that this is the worlds most circuitous love triangle. Soon the Island was under attack by heartless and I got the one and only keyblade I’d be handling for this run. I also skipped all of the cutscenes since I’m attempting to speedrun. Most of the dialogue can be diluted down into friendship, hearts, friendship, darkness, smiling, darkness, hearts, friendship however.
Coming into Traverse Town and hearing the theme was another breath of fresh air.Seeing Cid, Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith was like coming home to old mates you hadn’t been around in ages. Goofy and Donald were there too. I quickly set them to do as little as possible when it involved items, and stripped them of their item privileges just to be double sure.
The gummi ship sequences are just as boring as I remember. Given I’m speedrunning, I also don’t wish to spend time making a ship. I’m sure I could make the one that’s recommended in the guide, but the tedium would probably kill me. Instead I just cruise along in the low rent Star Fox game, barely touching the thumbsticks and opting instead to have my left hand set to more important tasks like water and scratching. Meanwhile my right is on fire button duty.
I lazily made my way to Wonderland, plowing through many of the enemies there and mostly running past several. I forgot that the keyhole is deep within the doors throat so it felt a bit dirty locking this place up. Nevertheless I cleared the keyhole and soon set off to Deep Jungle.
I forgot how much I utterly abhor this place. Confusing layout, the vines sometimes don’t function right, but we get Brian Blessed and that’s fine by me. The boss gave me no trouble, nor did most of the enemies, but the amount of backtracking to areas and confusion left me taking more time than necessary to get out of here. Most of this being my fault as I’m not watching the cutscenes and googling a guide or looking up what to do next is a large ask with all this scratching to be done.
I finally sprang loose the of the jungle’s traps and found myself once again Traverse Town bound. I wouldn’t be stopping at the colesseum. That’s an optional bit and I’m a busy boy. Speaking to Cid, I discover he’s got a lot to say about gummi ships and Leon has a lot to say about holes.
So far, I can’t say if we’re on a good track for the run, but we’re under three hours, so I suppose we can count this a win. My lack of knowledge is certainly a hindrance, but I am confident I’ll be able to make it to the end. And so, we spring forward to Agrabah. Tomorrow. I need a nap.

I spit on your grave deja vu 2019
Tumblr media
I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE DEJA VU 2019 MOVIE
I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE DEJA VU 2019 SERIES
I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE DEJA VU 2019 SERIES
32 years later, a bold and shocking remake reignited the franchise and spawned a series of sequels which pushed the envelope even further.
I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE DEJA VU 2019 MOVIE
When the original 1978 film was banned in the UK upon release, notorious revenge movie I Spit on Your Grave helped launch the “video nasty” craze of the 1980’s and inspired a generation of genre directors through its provocative, no-holds-barred filmmaking. Kaleidoscope announce ‘I Spit on Your Grave: The Complete Collection’ The retro-style toy is an open edition but the company warns that it may sell out during the pre-order window. The figure is scheduled to ship in October. This variant features the beloved host in a red shirt and comes with a beer bottle and drive-in speaker accessories. It should help fill the void until season 3 debuts. It is being released in honor of The Last Drive-In Summer Sleepover, which debuts on Shudder tonight. First up, we have the new Joe Bob Briggs figure. The company also released new apparel from two cult classics: I Spit on Your Grave, in honor of the movie's 40th anniversary, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The Last Drive-In host and horror icon Joe Bob Briggs is back with a limited edition action figure variant. Joe Bob Briggs Is Getting His Own Action Figure from Fright-Ragsįright-Rags has released some new goods for horror fans to enjoy. Yet despite all the furore around the film, it never spawned a sequel – after all that was not de rigueur back then, especially with indie productions – but it did inspire the film Savage Vengeance, from cult director Donald Farmer: an unofficial sequel that starred actress Camille Keaton, under a pseudonym, playing yet another “Jennifer” without ever explicitly stating is was a follow-up to Zarchi’s original. Stars: Camille Keaton, Jamie Bernadette, Maria Olsen, Jim Tavaré, Jonathan Peacy, Jeremy Ferdman, Holgie Forrester, Roy Allen III, Alexandra Kenworthy, Terry Zarchi, Tammy Zarchi | Written and Directed by Meir Zarchi It’s not hard to underestimate how much of an impact the original I Spit on Your Grave film had on the genre – mainly thanks to the controversial way the film was marketed back in the late 70s/early 80s and its subsequent banning across several territories. This box set features a new 4K scan and restoration of director Meir Zarchi’s 35mm original camera negative of I Spit On Your Grave, along with a newly restored original mono soundtrack.Įxclusive Interview – Jamie Bernadette on I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu The Collectible Box Set Also Includes a Deluxe Custom Slipcase with Original Artwork by Adam Stothard, a Newly Commissioned 44 Page Book, Collectible Mini-Posters and Replica VHS Box-Style Magnets Ronin Flix is pleased to commemorate one of the most controversial feature films of all time with a new 3 disc Collector’s Edition I Spit On Your Grave Blu-ray Box Set just in time for the holidays. “It won’t stop bleeding!!!” Available Now, Ronin Flix Releases a New 3 Disc Collector’s EditionI Spit on Your Grave Blu-ray Box Set Featuring a New 4K Scan and Restoration of the Original Uncut Feature Film, I Spit on Your Grave: Deju Vu, and Growing up with I Spit on Your Grave. I Spit On Your Grave 3-Disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Available From Ronin Flix Featuring a new 4K scan and restoration of Meir Zarchi’s uncut 35mm I Spit on Your Grave original camera negative, newly restored DTS-hd master audio mono and 5.1 surround, these two Blu-rays are prime examples of the work Ronin Flix does to carefully curate, restore and preserve cult movies for fans around the world. Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times Mvd and Ronin Flix have partnered to bring their fan favorite line of collectible Blu-rays to retail and are celebrating the wickedest of holidays with the release of Meir Zarchi’s controversial 1978 feature film, I Spit on Your Grave (aka Day of the Woman) and it’s official sequel, I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu on Blu-ray October 15th. Attending it was one of the most depressing experiences of my life. ” It won’t stop bleeding!” A vile bag of garbage without a shred of artistic distinction.

Note
if sora should look he'd find a note with kairi's handwriting taped to his gummi ship. the note reads: whatever the force it was fate or destiny i can't help but thank that it brought you to me. since the beginning you've been my sun & my stars. you're with me always whether near or far. they say i'm of light but i think you are too. i'd likely be in darkness if it wasn't for you. to me you alone stand the grandest & the great. i couldn't be prouder to call you my soulmate.
whoever said ‘ a hero’s work is never done! ‘ had no idea how right they were gonna be! because here sora was, still chained to the responsibilities of the keyblade even after everything that’s happened. though, in all fairness —— it had been his own personal choice to continue being a warrior of light ( because someone has to keep the worlds safe. the darkness is never gone for good, only ever kept at bay. ) so there really was nobody but himself to blame for this.      but at least the burden wasn’t as stressful as it used to ; because now there were fellow keyblade warriors to carry the well - being of the worlds alongside him. no longer was it something he had to shoulder alone.     but still! it wasn’t easy to say goodbye to the islands, however temporary the separation would be. even more so now that he had begun to assimilate back what some could consider a normal life ( school was still a bit iffy… but at least he’s manage to reconnect with old friends and family! ) so as usual, the trek towards the gummi ship was one filled with wistful sighs and the occasional complain! which were usually met by a grumbling quack or silly laugh!     but, oh — ? what’s this? right there, on the side of ship… was that some funny looking gummi block? no, it was ———
Tumblr media
… oh.     one sentence in and the blush is already creeping across his cheeks and up his ears and down his neck and —— her words do wonders to appease the seeds of homesickness that always manage to plant themselves in his heart whenever he leaves. she’s left him smiling like an absolute fool, has him reading her note again and again ( he can almost see her standing there, could almost hear her saying those words to him.. imagining her smile… ah, his blush is getting darker — )
Tumblr media
but the sound of an all too familiar duck immediately snaps him back into reality. he can already hear them begin to ask him questions ( what’s wrong, sora? why’d you suddenly stop walking? ) but! no way can he show them this poem!     so in a moment of complete panic, he rips it from its spot on the gummi ship and stuffs it in the pocket of his jacket. and of course that only made his companions all the more curious. but, nope! he’s already running inside the gummi ship, avoiding their questions like the plague! ( which might not have been the smartest idea, seeing as he’s now trapped himself inside the gummi ship with them… )     looks like this was gonna be one long flight.
