And I’ll make you forget me so I can properly make you fall for me

I totally didn’t feel like writing about last week’s episodes from My Roommate Is A Gumiho, but I definitely need to talk about episode seven.

See, last week I was just thinking about the tension the drama was getting into: Wooyeo thinking of Dam, Dam thinking of Wooyeo… she’s falling for him, asking her friends about things, and trying to see if there’s any sign of Mr. Gumiho liking her, too. There’s also this story about a being killing women who are nearby -or close to- Wooyeo. So Dam is in danger.

Thinking about all of these things, and knowing that Dam might die if she keeps the bead inside her, Wooyeo finds himself wanting to take the bead out of Dam, so she doesn’t face the sad ending his first love did. But it��s hard to know she’ll forget him.

It’s interesting how Dam has fallen for Wooyeo: she finds herself asking him about history, a thing she loves and is passionate about, and that he can provide information about. She tells him to go on a trip together when she finishes her midterms, and asks for a poem book he has in his basement. That’s how she learns about Wooyeo’s first love: the woman who he dedicated a poem to a long time ago.

Then there are all of these cute moments in which Dam sees Wooyeo in such a good light, but he’s so worried because he doesn’t want Dam to get killed by whatever is killing women around him…, and Dam is still jealous thinking about Wooyeo’s first love. That’s when she sees her: the face of the woman who Wooyeo once loved, working in the flower shop. Still, Dami tries to make Mr. Gumiho not see the woman, and rather goes to her university with him.

We also learn that there is a mountain spirit surrounding our human. At first, both gumiho and gumiho-turned-human think it’s the spirit who’s searching for Dam, until he says he has been protecting her from danger, but not anymore. Let that gumiho-turned-evil-spirit handle its own thing, and let the spirit follow its own path. Wooyeo is uncomfortable. I can see it in his eyes: 불안. Anxiety. Not only would Dam be in danger if she has the bead, Wooyeo could become an evil spirit if he can’t gather the energy he needs before he turns a thousand years. So he still needs Dam by his side.

The woman with Wooyeo’s first love’s face was the evil spirit. He’s mad. How dare this damned spirit come and try to take his…?

“You don’t have the bead.”

But Dam does. It’s a sure thing, now. The spirit is after Dam. He doesn’t want to leave her alone. He can’t leave her alone. At home, he promises Dam that he has been honest about everything he has said. He needs to protect her, but the very day he wants to do so, she wants to be left alone so she can study…, and that’s where the spirit tries to attack.

Spirits are sort of shapeshifters. At least, evil spirits are. Why wouldn’t this one try to take Wooyeo’s shape? The spirit tries to tame Dam, but Wooyeo silently takes her away, until he finally kills her for good. When Dam asks where he was, he brushes it off a bit. He promises Dam she’ll be okay.

Dam never really understands what Wooyeo thinks or says, but she’s always willing to listen. She knows now how lonely it must have been for him, all of these years. He knows it. That’s why, after Dam’s exams are done, he takes her to go on that trip she wanted so much. She’s happy. She’s going on a trip with someone she likes. And he seems to like her, too.

He does. That’s precisely the reason he, once again, tells her that he’s been honest every time he told her that he has found a family within her. And she’s so, so, happy. But Wooyeo told her lies, too. He told her he didn’t know what to do with the bead, but he did. He needed her energy. But he can’t keep doing this anymore, right? He loves her, although he has never said so, so he takes the bead out, Dam crying, and Wooyeo being sad she will forget him.

And that’s it. If he were to become human because of this… but that’s not possible, the bead was red…, but if it was possible, if he were to become human and Dam doesn’t remember him, wouldn’t he try to make her remember? No, that is too sad…, right? Or is he still a gumiho and needs to gather energy? I don’t know that, yet. We will see, when tomorrow comes.

What should he do? Should he appear in her life? Should he leave her alone? But he’s been alone for so long, and only Dam has made him feel something.

Would he be able to make her fall for him, even when she once’s loves him without trying?
