I do dabble in het from time to time... no but seriously it's a p straightforward lighthearted enemies to lovers romcom, not groundbreaking or anything yet im over here kicking my feet and giggling the main couple is SO cute to me... i luv them... I actually couldnt wait to find out what happens next so ive been slowly reading ahead in the kor whenever i have time and they're sooo cute😭😭 I also like the art style and costume design a lot!! it gives me like. a nostalgic 90s shoujo anime vibe tbh... w the puffy hair and babyfaces...

I would recommend this show to my friends. I wouldn't rewatch this show.

I always recognize Lee Do Hye despite her always having minor roles. Lee Sang Yi's character is so random.

Hae E is pretty. Jang Young Nam has always been pretty.

Wow I felt amazing when Haeng Seon got the 100th spot for the classes. Chi Yeol's speech about wanting to have his students be as passionate as him is admirable. That would get me as a student. Sun Jae and Hae E's karaoke date is cute. I want to have that kind of simple fun at karaoke. I love how Hae E catches on quick to the situation with Chi Yeol and Haeng Seon. I also like her interactions with Chi Yeol and how just kind it is. I love that Jae Woo loves Chi Yeol. Yeong Joo is such a good friend. She's also so funny and amusing, especially when talking about romance. Dan Ji and her mom are both fun friends. Dan Ji is also a good friend. Hae E's friends are so loyal. I love and respect it. I do enjoy Su Ah's mom's reaction to her husband cheating. The Jae Woo and Young Joo plotline is cute. Sun Jae's reaction to the cheek kiss is soo cute

Wow, can you imagine having a solo piano recital. You're that good? I would fall for Geon Hu if I were a high schooler. Hae E is an ideal daughter and Haeng Seon is an ideal mom.

What even is Chi Yeol's car's side mirror thing? Chi Yeol has two fridges and no food, why?

I hate the waffle-making part-timer's boyfriend. Su Ah's parents treating her so princess-like kinda disgusts me because of her general attitude in response. Su Ah in general disgusts me. But, the situation is also kinda sad.

I thought it was sad when Sun Jae cried on Hae E.

The Good:

Main Leads

The chemistry was thanks to Jung Kyung Ho and Jeon Do Yeon! They're perfect for the role, especially Do Yeon with her smirk 😏. Their bickering was so entertaining. The side couples are cute too!

Hilarious

So many scenes to laugh out loud 🤣.

Touching

I love the friendships and family. They were all so touching and wholesome 🥺.

Satisfying Ending

Happy ending for the main characters ❤️.

Thre Bad:

Mystery/Murder Plot

It was unnecessary, draggy and poorly written. There was no proper closure.

Overall, the good parts overshadowed the bad. It was a sweet and funny drama.

Indulge me if you will, but here are the things I'm thankful for about Crash Course in Romance/Ilta Scandal.

There are a lot reviews for this show about what could have worked and what they didn't get right. I will get to that since I'm only human but before all that, CCIR/Ilta Scandal team, thank you so much.

-Thank you for giving Jung Kyungho the lead that he has said is the closest to his heart which even his gf, Choi Sooyoung, have said. For giving him a character that showcased his range and his undeniable charm. He's been under the radar for far too long. Which I actually didn't realise because he steals the scene for whenever he is on in all the shows I've seen of him so far. He actually first caught my eye from that random cameo he has from the 1st episode of Crash Landing on You (is the title fate or just a Netflix marketing ploy?)

-Thank you for introducing me to Jeon Do Yeon. I'm not korean but I read that a lot of the actors/actresses in SoKor chose Jeon Do Yeon as their acting influence. She is a fire that won't be extinguished. She put a credibility and strength in Nam Haengseon's character that I cannot imagine anyone else playing her. But, she was also so good in her art that I could clearly see Nam Haengseon brought to life by how the writer/director intended it. I am definitely going to watch anything that she's on right now.

-Thank you for showcasing a love story between people who were middle-aged and are in a moment in their lives where they didn't think that they deserved any change. Who were used to how equally mundane and chaotic their lives were. I loved that while the title cards represented the whole theme of the episode, it was pretty much focused on the development of Chiyeol and Haengseon's relationship. It was playful and thematic but also had actually really good meanings behind them. Someday, I'll get to writing an analysis on the title cards.

-Thank you for also not highlighting Chiyeol's wealth as something to save Haengseon. Too many kdramas give this "hero" status to the wealthy characters. I love that Haengseon was who she was from beginning to the end. Fiercely simply beautiful. She didn't need saving but there were moments that she was stopped at sacrificing too much. She was the "hero" in the story. A three dimensional hero.

CCIR/Ilta Scandal has many flaws and I will get to it too but I love it so much that I know that even though I'm frustrated, I'm willing to overlook them (I can't get over my frustration over the no-mention of the dream kiss).
