Lloyd: hmm...grab a few, I'll show you what I mean

Kagetsu: ...okay

Pigsy: hey what's with the extra boxes? We didn't need that many did we?

Kagetsu: they're more than just decorations after all

Pigsy: why am I not surprised

Lloyd: actually it was my idea

Pigsy: excuse me

Kai walking by: oh Lloyd, seems like you got your sweet tooth again

Lloyd: hey it wasn't for me!

Kagetsu: we're sharing it

住宅地の中の大衆食堂 かど市 ～ 前回の投稿で「親子で切り盛り」と書きましたがそれは間違えで、正しくは「ご夫婦で切り盛り」でした。

日曜日も朝10から企業です。

豚汁定食には焼き魚か煮魚のどちらかを選びます。煮魚を選ぶとサバの煮付けとタケノコの煮付けでした。

焼きそばを追加注文しました。いわゆるソース焼きそばではなくて、皿うどん風（パリパリでない）の焼きそばでした。

近所にはこれまた昭和な駄菓子屋さんがあります。

これから羽根戸古墳群に向かいます。一部の支群（Ｆ支群）が造成により消滅しているようで、その確認です。

Ｆ支群は石材や石室跡跡など跡形なく消滅確定 ～ その横の斜面（西部霊園公園の駐車場下）で見つけた全身真っ白な草花。調べたら「ギンリョウソウ」らしい。菌類に寄生し、樹木が光合成により作り出した有機物を、菌経由で得て生活している不思議な植物です。なので全身真っ白。ぱっと見はキノコ。で、別名はユウレイタケだそう。

駄菓子屋, 1953,(Dagashi-Ya - Ccandy, and Snack shop for children. there were so many Dagashi-Ya in Tokyo Until 1970’s, Its hardly find nowadays…), 木村伊兵衛 / Kimura Ihei. (1901 - 1975)

After Kimura dide, since 1980’s, these place we could see children’s smile, We could hear children’s laughter, repidly dissapeared from Tokyo.

Someone on Mercari was listing packs of the Nyan Nyan Nyanko playing/trading cards recently. I was lucky enough to have been able to grab most of them. And in the end, I am ONE card short of having a full collection. 😫 1 ! I really hope more packs of these cards show up on the market someday.

When looking for material to improve Japanese reading skills, I would lean towards graded readers rather than children's books.That being said, exploring all the beautiful picture books and well thought out children's literature in Japanese has been a delight! Here are some of my favorite free resources for Japanese picture books:

Ehon Hiroba – free picture books created by users

e-Dōwa – collection of free fairy tale picture books

I particularly enjoyed the beautifully illustrated 親指姫（おやゆびひめ）, a picture book based on the fairy tale Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen. It can be read for free here.

My favourite Japanese book series written for elementary school children is without a doubt the ふしぎ駄菓子屋（だがしや）銭天堂（ぜにてんどう）series about a magical candy shop that seems to pop up whenever a little magic is needed in the lives of its future customers.

Just keep in mind when reading children's books in Japanese that there will be many challenges for learners: E.g. even young children usually have a much broader vocabulary than beginners and particulary onomatope which features prominently in children's literature is usually introduced only much later to learners of Japanese. If you haven't read much in Japanese, yet, outside of textbooks, I would recommend graded readers (e.g. these here) instead of picture books to start with!

best part about learning a language is when you reach the point where you're able to read children's books in said language

2011年、雑司ヶ谷鬼子母神。

江戸時代から続く駄菓子屋の「上川口屋 」。

幼少の頃、この少し近くに祖父の家があり、たまにここまで出かけたりなどしていた。

懐かしく思うが、それをはるかに超える時をこの地で店を構えから経っている。
