March 3rd is the Day of Ear in Japan,which was established in 1956 by the Japanese Society of Otolaryngology based on the word game "み(3)み(3)" to try to alleviate the difficulties faced by people with hearing and speech impairments.It's coincidentally that March 3rd is also the birth day of Alexander Graham Bell,inventor of the telephone, acoustician and teacher of deaf languages.

For this day,people familiar with ancient Japanese literature may think of Fujiwara Masamitsu,a high-ranking official from the Heian period.There is an astonishing description in paragraph 257 of The Pillow Book:"There's only the Minister of Finance(Fujiwara Masamitsu) has sharp ears.Truly,he can hear even the falling of a mosquito's eyelashes".According to the analysis of japanese popular science writer Yanagida Rikao,if that description is true,the minimum volume level he can hear is smaller than 170 billion parts that of an ordinary person,and he can hear people whispering in other's ears from a distance of 41 kilometers.It's really surprising that a real historical figure has such a superhuman description.

Many blind heroic characters are described as having supernormal hearing,a tendency that is an offshoot of the broader concept of "supersensory disabled people",and that's based on real-life physiology,meaning that the brains of blind people work in significantly different patterns than those of sighted people.Some blind people learn to identify objects in front of them through echolocation,they use their tongues to make brief "click" sounds,make footsteps,tap their canes or clap their hands,and then identify the objects through the echoes.Some of them can accurately determine the distance,size,and even material and whether it is a flat or curved surface of an object within a few meters.A experimental research found that blind people's visual cortex was activated when using echo, suggesting that brain plasticity allows hearing to "borrow" visual areas for spatial perception.

Even sighted people can master echolocation with training,though not to the extent of this guy.

That's theoretically work to avoid being echolocated,but the handkerchief might be have to flatten to a thickness of several atoms.I think a simpler and more effective way is to sit down and throw the handkerchief behind the body.

When sound waves - vibration waves of the air - enter the ear,the cilia in the cochlea will swing with the lymph fluid,prompting the hair cells to transmit the sound wave information into electrical signals, and then transmit them to the brain through nerves to form hearing.The hair cells responsible for identifying high-frequency sound waves are located in the outermost layer of the cochlea and are more easily damaged.Therefore, a person's hearing loss as he ages will begin with high-frequency sounds.Most middle-aged people can hear sounds of 8kHz,while sounds of 17-20kHz are generally only heard by young people.

In one case of Detective Conan,Conan said "only people under the age of 20 can hear the sound of mosquito alarm."He was wrong because the degree of hearing deterioration is related to individual genetic and environmental factors that make it's impossible to make an accurate age definition,and some middle-aged people can still hear Mosquito alarm.

Pigeons can hear sounds as low as 0.05Hz,which is only 1/200 of the lowest audio frequency a human can hear.Greater Wax Moth can hear ultrasonic waves up to 300,000 Hz,which is higher than the 200,000 Hz sound waves their predator,bat,can emit."As blind as a bat" is a misunderstanding,bats are not blind.Fruit bats,in particular,have good vision and do not rely on echolocation.Some studies have shown that insectivorous bats can see ultraviolet light.

『光る君へ』第18回「岐路」：メモ

▼今回の一番は「道兼の死に様」。疫病で死が迫っていることを知った病床の道兼は、思わず手を合わせ御経を唱え始めるが、ハッとなってすぐに止めてしまう。「穢れた人殺し」でしかない自分が、ぬけぬけと浄土（天国）に行こうしていることに気づいたからだ。そして、そんな自分を嘲笑う。因みに、前々回、物語的には道長だけが行けばいい悲田院に、道兼も行った（行かせた）理由が、今回「回収」された。道隆「暗殺」の手段を手に入れるためじゃなかったね。ということは、「公任の屋敷から帰ってくれない」エピソードのときに、道兼は、本当に「一周回って、憑き物が落ちた」人間になったのだ。成仏成仏。

▼まひろさんの心の���：「あのひと、人気がないんだ…」：自分が密かに好いと思っている男子のことを、他の女子たちが「あいつ、きっしょいよね」「道長はないわ〜」とか言っているのを聞いた中２女子の心の呟き的面白さ。それで言えば、その直後に、さわさんに「もう、やめました」と言われた〔まひろさんの弟〕は、自分に対してスキスキ光線を全開で放出していた下級生女子から、ある日突然、ケロリとした顔で「先輩のことを好きでいるのはもうやめました」と言われてしまった中３男子の〔そもそもその子のことは特に好きなわけでもなかったのに、なぜか、こっちがフラれたような気分〕的面白さ。
