i could live in the dream you have of me the one with the garden and the finches who halo your hair with their wings cascading like stars

your hands and the warmth of your body could have been everything if she hadn’t fallen from the sky

on that day i remember thinking the ribbon you wore had come loose red like the sun shading over your face

i wanted a better ending a hundred years of white hair and wrinkles the wine we shared on that shoreline better than any

tell me something tell me it hurts tell me you ache and gasp and beg the way i do

for you i would have taken no more, no less your firelight smile twined with mine warmth unreachable paradise

i want to know to be without this feeling to have that dream of us again the way i want you to

wake up you know i am waiting for you to let go of me to learn how to grieve the time when you loved me
