何かと悪者イメージのカラスさん。だけども参道をぴょこぴょこ歩く表情がキュートだった秋晴れの朝･･

November 20th, 2024: Congratulations are in order for Kyoto's newest geiko! Masako (槇沙子) of Nishimura (西村) in Gion Kobu is celebrating her erikae! She is the third imōto of natori geiko Makiko (槇子), also of Nishimura, to have her erikae and is the second of three erikae for her district over the past month. Although you can't see it, there are fish on Masako's hiyoku (the white second hem of her kimono), a nod to her hometown that's known for fishing! 霜降りた朝。お日様が昇るまでは、静かな時間が流れます･･。

Another tea shop today! It caught my eye because of the character that looks like the female symbol ♀, which is actually 子.

The top line says お茶とのり Tea & Nori (laver seaweed), and the name of the shop is 金子園 Kanekoen. And 金子 also happens to be a common surname, usually read Kaneko.

茶, as we reviewed yesterday. It's read チャ or サ.

金 means gold. It’s read かね, かな, がね, キン, コン, or ゴン.

子, which I'm not sure we've ever properly covered before, means child. It can also mean offshoot or interest/share. It's most commonly read こ or シ, but can also be ね, ス, or ツ.

園 means garden, park, yard, or farm. It’s read その or エン.
