Finally found a new Good novel. The kind that is intensely immersive that you won’t even notice you’ve been holding your breath until your body forces you to exhale

and it’s funny coz the eerie tone of the novel is a complete contrast to the lighthearted summary. Then again, I’ve made it a habit to only read the beginning of the summary, skim the middle, and skip the end to ensure I won’t get spoiled. (Chinese web novel authors just love to give everything away in the summary, and I hate that coz it reduces the enjoyment for me)

But even the title doesn’t give you any impression that this is actually a horror story: 男友是万人迷，而我是路人 (My Boyfriend is a Heartthrob, while I am just a Passerby)

I was looking for some light romance, and coupled with that kind of title and the casual tone in the summary, I thought it’d fit. My expectations were also very mid, so when the novel suddenly started grabbing me by the shoulders to bring me close to the phone, it felt like I had found gold while rummaging through the trash

So far, it has been unexpectedly good.

it’s not enough to just read the text as mere text. I feel the need to keep my eyes open and observe everything that’s happening as if I’m within the story.

God, I want this novel translated so bad. I just know I’m missing out so much by only reading the MTL

This guy? This Li Tongguang? Has it bad, bad, bad for his shifu Ren Xin/Ren Ruyi. Look at him, his pathetic yearning, his puppy devotion to the person who saved him and made him.

I have such a soft spot for his brand of sharp-tongued arrogance.

And I can kinda tolerate his jealous alertness to anyone else's closeness to Ruyi - such as, Yuanzhou:

But - regardless of the craziness that followed his shifu's 'death' or whatever other reason - this is the unforgivable character flaw:

And Yuanzhou saying in the very next scene that he respects Ruyi's choices is exactly the difference between the two that we're meant to see.

Ruyi isn't presented with a choice between two men that she needs to make in the present, because she chose Yuanzhou a long time ago. It's a choice we, the audience, are invited to make between a tropey shifu-tudi romance, and one where two people are equal in ability, experience, expectations of each other, their peers and the world; and where they treat each other with respect and acknowledge when they've crossed boundaries they shouldn't have.

The crux is that, having been pawns in other peoples' games, they're their own person now. Anyone who wants them to be a possession, someone's to the exclusion of all else, to be used and deployed, is Wrong!

Look at how hot Yuanzhou is, telling Du daren that.

is there a song that reminds you of your muse? Literally pulling these off the top of my head but I'm particularly fond of 九万字 and 无问 for J.in G.uangyao. I would say 酒家 and Shut Up and Dance is peak for both F.eng J.iu and Jin Si.

山の中のBlue

それはまるで真っ青な海でした。

どう見ても海。

でも現実はダム湖なんですよね。

ここは群馬・四万川ダム。

四万ブルーと言われる水の青色がとても美しい。

そういえば地元の阿寺渓谷の水もエメラルドで阿寺ブルーと言われてたっけ。

ダムの下流側は公園になっていて散策できます。

減勢工も間近に見れるし下流側から堤体に手で触れられるのは嬉しい。
