Reblogging so I can add pics to my response. His lair's ceiling is actually partially domed, so not sure if structurally that would work for a basement.

I've always thought that there was no way he would ever place Origa's life in danger so I can't see it being a part of his house. Also he's literally got a wall where he hangs up pictures of murderers and heroes (he burns them in the Ueda manga) and there's no way that he isn't breaching confidentiality using whatever means he has to pull up info he needs on anyone in the city. So there's the added risk of having it traced to him, given the access he has to similar information via his day job. My guess is that he's probably either bought or rented a separate space for it.

The question I've always wondered was if he friggin painted his bootleg Sistine Chapel ceiling himself. Because it's not like he could have hired people to do it then Mavericked their minds afterwards. So not only did he design and handmake his costume, but potentially also interior designed the shit out of his Murder Dungeon 🤔

I previously translated the blurb above in the Hero Gossips article. All it says is that he prepared a hidden room to carry out his activities as Lunatic and that it has minimal lighting.

バイオリンが32分音符と16分音符を2パートで延々と弾いており、これもの受難曲。この音が不安を煽り、サスペンス感を十分に醸し出しています。

The violin plays 32nd and 16th notes endlessly in two parts, and this is also a passionate song. The sound incites anxiety and fully exudes a sense of suspense.

[制作秘話] 楓が誘拐されて、ヒーローが閉じ込められてどうなっちゃうの！？という場面で使用しています。不安だったり、先行きが不透明だったりする時に流れます。シリーズで使用回数が最も多い楽曲です。

Production Secrets: What will happen if Kaede is kidnapped and the heroes are trapped!? It's used in this (these types of) situation. It's heard when things are uneasy, such as when you are anxious or the future is uncertain. It is the song that is the most used in the series.

(TN: It's used a lot during Lunatic's appearances, and there's even a remix of it in "The Rising" - "The Judge From the Red Moon").

弦楽器の低音、そして金管楽器が同じ低いメロディーとリズムを奏でます。そして楽器が小節毎に増え、オクターブで綴ります。不穏、動揺、剣吞といった、正義とは反対の不安要素を煽る曲です。また、不安を増幅するホルンには「bressy」の指示。咆哮しつつもワザと金属的に音を出させ、熱のない感じを出します。非人間的なヒーローと対極をなす意味合いの音作りです。

The bass stringed instruments and the brass instruments play the same low melody and rhythm. And the musical instruments increase with each ornamentation, and octaves. It is a song that incites anxiety elements opposed to justice, such as disturbance, agitation, and insecurity. The horn that amplifies anxiety has the instruction of "bressy" (TN: probably "brassy"). While roaring, it makes a metallic sound and gives a feeling unlike a fever. It's an opposing sound to an inhuman hero.

Question 1. What kind of job is a Hero Administrator?

はじめまして。ユーリ・ペトロフと申します。私の職業を聞いても、理解出来ない子供たちも多くいることでしょう。裁判官とは、司法権を行使し裁判を行うのがお仕事です。もうひとつのヒーロー管理官とは、文字通り、ヒーローの管理をするお仕事になります。具体的には、事件や事故の現場から出動要請を受け、本当にヒーローの出動が必要かどうかを見極めたり、ヒーローが出動した際に起こした諸問題に対処したり、ヒーローに関する様々な決定を下しています。私が、間違った判断を下したり、判断するタイミングが遅れてしまうと、事件や災害の被害はどんどん大きくなり、被害者も増えていくので、実に重要な役目だと思っています。

(TN: I added the mention of grape sugar because the actual word used is ブドウ糖 which can translate to grape sugar or glucose. It's clear it's a pun on words because staphylococcus is written as ブドウ球菌, with ブドウ (grape) being the commonality. So even though Yuri is educating the kids on glucose, I added grape syrup to keep the pun intact, even though they are the same word).

Another Yuri Mystery Solved! ...(may be??)

A Japanese fan was able to view the upcoming Wild Tiger Premium statue in-person (with the broken Lunatic mask) and took some detailed shots.

Many of us Yuri fans have wondered how he stores his hair in his Lunatic mask since he clearly doesn't pin it up. In fact sometimes he wears it down. The new upcoming Wild Tiger statue has a detailed view of his broken mask. There is clearly a compartment in the back for it!!🤯

最愛の母を失ったことで、苦しみのなか再びルナティックとなり粛清するが、それを救ったのは憎しみつづけてきた父・Mr.レジェンドのことばだった。「お前の信じる正義を貫け」ということばに従い、リトルアウロラの危機に駆けつける。さらにはタイガー＆バーナビーと協力し、LL.オードウンに立ち向かう。最後はみずからの業火に身を包み、姿を消すのだった。

A solitary existence that has carried out its own justice

Lunatic

Due to the loss of his beloved mother, he once again became Lunatic, and killed in the midst of his suffering. He was saved by his father Mr. Legend's words: "Believe in your own justice". He rushed to save Little Aurora and joined Tiger & Barnaby to fight L.L. Audun. In the end, he wrapped himself in his own flames to erase himself.

ユーリ・ペトロフの物語も非常にていねいに描かれた印象です。

加瀬 - 当初から「ユーリに対する解決は入れましょう」という話は上がっていました。でも最後まで、タイガーもバニーも彼の正体はわからなかったという形にしています。

ここでいなくなってしまうのは惜しいキャラクターですね。

加瀬 - 本当に彼は消えてしまったのか.....、それは誰にもわかりません。

「いや、私は生きていると思う！」と思っていただいても構いません。これは見る方の解釈にゆだねています。

Kawai: Yuri Petrov's story is also very well depicted.

Kase: From the start there was talk of "Let's put in a resolution for Yuri." But until the end, neither Tiger nor Bunny know his true identity.

Kawai: It's disappointing for this character to disappear here.

TN: Kawai deliberately uses the hiragana 「なくなって 」(nakunatte) here as 無くなる can mean "disappear" and 亡くなる can mean "death". The staff have been deliberately vague about Yuri's outcome.

Kase: No one knows if he really disappeared.

TN: Kase uses "消えてしまった" (kietemashitte) which means to vanish/disappear.

"No, I think he's alive!" - We don't mind if you think this. It is left to the interpretation of the viewer.

虎散がNEXT能力を失い、バーナビーの力もヒーローとしての基準を満たさなくなる、という展開もそれを象徴していますね。

加瀬 - 過去にはMr.レジェンドも、能力の減退に苦しみました。でも、彼にもタイガーとバーナビーのように、悩みを聞いて寄り添ってくれる誰かがいれば、また運命が変わっていたかもしれないですね。ユーリはひとりで生きてきたから、それに気づくのが遅くなってしまった。ですから、タイガー、バーナビーと3人で共闘できたのはよかったと思います。

Kawai: Kotetsu losing his NEXT ability as well as Barnaby's power not meeting the standards as a hero is symbolic development, right?

Kase: In the past, Mr. Legend also suffered from a decline in ability. But if he had someone like Tiger and Barnaby to listen to his troubles and support him, his fate might have changed. Yuri has been living alone, so it's too late for him to realize this, but I think it was good that the three of them were able to fight together.

物語の着地点として、バディであったことに意味があると感じます。

加瀬 - そうですね。ヒーローの日常を見せることで、どのバディもキャラクター性が広がりました。何よりバディがいることによって、「自分を思ってくれる誰かがいれば、何とかなる」と印象づけることができたのは大きかったと思い

Kawai: I feel the main point of the story is that it is meaningful to have a Buddy.

Kase: That's right. By showing the heroes daily lives, everyone's character has expanded through their Buddies. Above all, I think it was great to be able to impress that "If there is someone who believes in me, I'll somehow manage" with my Buddy.

While this last part didn't have any mentions of Lunatic or Yuri, I thought it was really sweet and wanted to include it.

HIATUS June 1, 2024:  Unfortunately my health has gotten worse in recent months, so I am forced to take a break from most of my online activities, and will stop any translations while I recuperate.  I don't know if I will revisit anything in the future, but for now, the focus will be on my health and getting better.

初めてルナティックを見た時はその異質さに驚きました。他のヒーローたちと比べて全く系統が違うという印象です。最初は怖かったです（笑）、特に目が。��かしその生い立ちやユーリの人物像を知るにつれ、この姿がピッタリだと思うようになりました。顔の手形については桂先生が触れられるかと思いますが、あの怒りとも妖しさとも哀しみとも取れる表情は秀逸だと思います。全体に施されたラインの模様も気に入っています。鋭角的なデザインが好きなので。デザインとは関係ないですが、スーツの性能はやはり手作りという感じですね（笑）。斎藤さんが作ってくれたらあんなことにはならなかったのになぁと個人的にはちょっと残念に思います。まぁ、そこは実力でカバー。

僕にとってはヒーローたちに負けない、まぎれもない "ヒーロー”です。

When I saw Lunatic for the first time, I was surprised at the different quality (of his design). I had the impression that his lineage was completely different compared to the other heroes. I was scared at first (laughs), especially of the eyes. However, as I learned about Yuri's upbringing and personality, I grew to think that his appearance was perfect. Katsura-Sensei added the handprint of his face (to his mask), which is excellent because I think that the expressions (Lunatic's) can be taken as angry, mysterious and sad. I also like the pattern of the lines applied to the whole because I like sharp design. While it has nothing to do with the design (concepts), the performance of the suit is still handmade (laughs). Personally, I'm a little disappointed that Mr. Saito had not made it, but his (Lunatic's) abilities covered up for it.

For me, he's unmistakably a "hero" who can't lose to the heroes.

ネクタイは、虎徹のネクタイと同じく真ん中にストライプを入れ、それをユーリの場合は、カクカクにしたデザインです。

白と黒に、中央が自身の立ち位置を示すグレーにしていて、前回より、彼のキャラクター性を表したつも���です。

The necktie is the same as Kotetsu's tie, with a stripe in the middle. In Yuri's case, it is a jagged design. It's white and black with the centre grey to indicate his stance, shown from his character in the previous installment (S1).

Colours Used (for Yuri's Design)

ミドルクールグレイ - Middle Cool Grey

デープクールグレイ - Deep Cool Grey

ユーリは、「The Rising」では、新規デザインがなかったので、自分も楽しみでした。とはいえ職業柄、スーツ姿には変わりないので、遊べるところが少ないのですが、探は、ゲーム「ASTRAL CHAIN』で探いた四角いデザインを取り入れて、探えて、ボタンも四角くしています。

I was looking forward to the "The Rising" because there was no new design for Yuri. However, because of his occupation, he doesn't change his suit, so there were few places to play. So I incorporated the square design used in the game "ASTRAL CHAIN", and also used it for his buttons.

Yuri Draft:

TN: There is another colour chart with a tie in the colours from the previous season, but I haven't included it.

ユーリのネクタイ。ネクタイだけ、前TVシリーズのカラーリングにしてみましたが、結局やめました。

Katsura says he originally coloured the tie in the same colours as S1 but decided to stop.

ーご自身が演じられているキャラクター以外で気になる存在はいますか？

-Is there anything you are interested in other than the character you are playing?

寿 私はユーリが気になっていて、彼が好きです。『T&B2』では物語的にもユーリが熱い展開だったので、目が離せませんでした。先ほどユーリのデザイン画を見させていただいたのですが、改めてカバンやネクタイひとつとっても彼の小道具はすごくオシャレだなと思いました。あと、アニメで髪が逆立っているシーンもすごく幻想的で。

Kotobuki: I'm interested in Yuri, and I like him. In "T&B2", Yuri's story has passionate development, and I couldn't take my eyes off it. I saw the drawings of Yuri's design, and thought the accessories of his bag and tie were very fashionable. Also, the scene in the anime, where his hair is standing on end is so fantastic.

桂 ユーリの展開は衝撃的だよね。

僕もプロットの段階から、ルナティックのクライマックスは「嘘だ！もったいない！やめてよ」と何回も言った記憶があります。でも彼についてははっきりと言及されているわけじゃないから、まだどうなったかはわからないと思います（笑）。千葉さんは誰が気になりました？

Katsura: Yuri's development is shocking, isn't it?

During the plot stages, I remember saying: "It's a lie! What a waste! Stop it!" many times about Lunatic's ending (climax). But it's not clearly mentioned, so I don't think I understand what happened yet (laughs).

Mr. Chiba, who are you interested in?

千葉 僕もキャラクターではないのですが、ルナティックのボウガンが良いなと。必殺技で「炎」は定番だと思うんですけど、その炎をボウガンで撃ち出すというアイデアが画期的でめちゃくちゃカッコいいなと思いました。

Chiba: I'm not interested in characters either (TN: Morita says earlier that he's not interested in characters), but Lunatic's bowgun is good. I think "flames" are standard special moves, but the idea of shooting flames with a bow gun was ground-breaking and incredibly cool.

TN: What follows is easily the greatest thing about this interview and it doesn't even have any Yuri/Luna content! 😭🤣

意外と評判が良い？ 男性キャラの「おしり」

Is it good that the male characters "butts'" are surprisingly popular?

島崎 僕は自分の役で申し訳ないんですけど、トーマスのキュッとした「おしり」がたまりません！新ヒーローの中でエース的存在のトーマスが、ピチッとしたスーツを着ているところに痺れたんです。その分、気絶した時には残念な姿に映りましたが（笑）、内またのラインとかが顕著に出ていて、「さすが桂先生のおしり」だと思いました。

Shimazaki: I'm sorry to say this since it's my role, but Thomas' tight "butt" is irresistible! I was numb to the fact that Thomas, who is an ace among the new heroes, was wearing a tight suit. As a result, it was unfortunate when he fainted (laughs), because the inner line was prominent, and I thought: "as expected of Katsura-Sensei's butts".

桂 あははは！でも、男の尻だよ?

Katsura: Ahahaha! But it's a man's ass?

島﨑どこからみてもラインが美しいんですよ。イケてます！

Through this relationship, I think I can create a story that cuts deep into the darker parts of society.

I'm late in the game for Taibani merch even if I originally watched S1 back when it aired (around 2011/2012). It was during a time when I had stopped collecting anything animanga related and was primarily purging my existing collectibles. Obviously Yuri (who was my fave even back then), has made me start collecting shit again.

The 2022 reprints of the Sakakibara manga along with the Sakakibara artbook and Limited Edition original printing of the Vol 5 tankoubon featuring Luna/Yuri arrived today. They were supposed to be a Christmas present from my hubs.

I also previously acquired a set of the Rascal x Taibani acrylic mascots because this set came with 2 Rascal Lunas. One for my keys and one to keep mint and sealed. I stuck one of these Bunny's(?) on my spare keys to my Mom's place, because there were 3 in this lot.

Finally the Lunatic S.H. Figuarts and the DXF Figure 5 who are currently displayed with some of my older Shaka gashapons I kept and the Anime Heroes release.

I'm currently waiting on shipments for a bunch of other stuff I've ordered like 2 of those adorable TB2 mochi mochi plushes, and the Luna and Yuri plushies released during the rising as well as a bunch of stuff from the Summer Resort collab, TB2 Museum fine art board, but I'll post them once I receive them. This is all I currently have onhand.

MY CABBAGES.

There's a hilarious theory on Japanese Twitter that Yuri's alive and selling cabbages in Karuizawa due to the Summer Heroes Collab.

Why Cabbages??

Well according to the Stamp Rally, Yuri's location is the Karuizawa City Garden (軽井沢発地市庭), where the Karuizawa Direct Sales Office (軽井沢直売所) is located, known for selling fresh and processed agricultural produce such as cabbage and lettuce.

It seems like the kind of place a civil servant would work at.

So theories emerged about Yuri's body (after his end in TaiBani 2) drifting in the water to Karuizawa, where he's recuperated and ended up selling cabbage 😂🤣🥬 (Since the Summer Resort Heroes Collab took place from August to October 2023 and TaiBani 2 ended Fall 2022).

I couldn't resist making these for Japanese Twitter, based on the Cabbage Seller from Avatar the Last Airbender.
