14日目のメキシコの朝、8時に起床。 4月だけど、日本の夏と同じくらい暑い。

今日は、滞在しているグアダラハラという都市から車で30分の田舎町、トナラへ足を運んだ。 毎週木曜日と日曜日に開催されるティアンギス(民芸品を中心とした大規模な青空市)でトナラ焼きを手に入れるため。

目当てのトナラ焼きを求めて市場をぐるぐるしていると、ブタの焼き物を抱えたおじさんに声をかけられた。 「ブエノスディアス！」と陽気に挨拶されたので、このおじさんなら教えてくれるかも！と思い、目当てのトナラ焼きの写真を見せた。 すると、「俺の友達の作品だよ！ここをまっすぐ行って、1ブロック先の左手にあるよ！連れて行ってあげようか！」 半信半疑だったので同行は断り、言われた場所へ向かってみると、そこには探し求めていたトナラ焼きの工房があった。 少し疑っていた事への罪悪感を感じながら、またトナラに行く事があれば、ブタのおじさんにお礼に行こうと強く思った。

この国に来てから怖い人もたくさん見たけれど、底抜けに陽気で優しい人もたくさんいて、そういう人に出会う度にメディアの情報が全てではないんだということを改めて実感できる。自分の目で見て、触れて、肌で感じた事だけを信じていこうとつくづく思う。

午後は、作家さんの取材を二件。

二件目に訪れた陶芸アーティストのGabiのアトリエに「TE AMO」と書いてある紙ナプキンが貼ってあったのでこれは何？と尋ねた。 彼女がケーキを焼いてテーブルの上に紙ナプキンと一緒に置いていたら、ケーキを食べた娘が書き置きしてくれたそう。 いとおしい気持ちで胸がいっぱいになった。

インタビューを終えると、アイス食べたくない？とGabiが二度尋ねてくれたので、お昼にアイスを食べたばかりだったけどご馳走になった。 甘いものが甘すぎるメキシコには珍しい、程よい甘さのバニラアイス。Gabiの作った器でさらにおいしい。

Gabiのポートレートを撮らせて欲しいと伝えたら、「写真撮られるのが好きじゃないからいつも断ってるけど、あなたは特別」と言って撮らせてくれた。 現像するまで見られないけど、私にとっても特別な一枚になった。

そんなこんなで日も暮れて、今日も一日が終わった。あと3日で日本に帰るのかと思うと、なんだか寂しい。どうやら、思っていたよりずっと、メキシコが好きらしい。

Catrina con Erika y Nadia - Plaza Tapatía - 14.09.23

メキシコのアンドレス・マヌエル・ロペスオブラドール（Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador）大統領は27日、麻薬カルテルによる物品配布に注意するよう国民に警告した。 　ハリスコ（Jalisco）州グアダラハラ（Guadalajara）で麻薬カルテルの構成員とみられる人物らが、クリスマスの装飾を施したトラックからプレゼントを配布する様子を撮影した画像がソーシャルメディアに投稿されたのを受け、当局は捜査に乗り出した。 　ロペスオブラドール氏は報道陣に「たとえ食べ物をもらったとしても、だまされてはいけない。それは善意によるものではない。国民を盾として使おうとしているのだ」と述べた。麻薬カルテルの狙いは、コカイン取引の摘発時��どに「地域社会に密売人を守らせる」ことにあるという。 　現地メディアによると、プレゼントを配布したのは有力かつ凶悪な麻薬カルテル「ハリスコ新世代（Jalisco New Generation）」の構成員とみられている。
