最後はさわやか(当社比)

社員証ぜんぶあつめた！

最後思ってたよりさわやかな結末で良かったな。記念撮影したいシーンとちょく��ょく印象的な台詞があって楽しかった。

期待通り、労働を通じて繋がるエグくて暗くて重い男性同士の関係性が十分見られたので満足です。

このあとはネタバレ感想。主にジミーとカーリーの話。

※展開・スクショ含めネタバレ注意

ジミー、サブとしての仕事は有能かもしれないがストレスと不慮の事態にほんとに弱くてリーダー向きじゃないし、最後まで自己完結しかしてないけど、最後にちゃんとカーリーに伝えた『なんとかする』という責任を果たして船と心中して「船長」になれてよかったね、という気持ち。

弱くて不安定で嫉妬と羨望にまみれたジミーとカーリーの友情の結末としては、意外と悪くないんじゃないかという印象で、最後はちょっとさわやか。

最後の行動、自分の思う相手の願いと未来を祈るだけのジミーはほんとうに勝手だけど、そんな弱さ含めてカーリーはジミーのやり遂げようとしたこと認めてくれるんじゃないかと思いました。

船と船員がどんな惨状を迎えようとも、ジミーはカーリーのことしか気にしてなかったし、カーリーはジミーがそういう人間であることを知りながら長年組んでたはずだろうから。（台詞や態度から察するに、ジミーが女性関係等でごちゃごちゃしてカーリーが面倒みたのこれがはじめてじゃないと思う）

ジミーが起こしたあの事故も、そもそもカーリーが自分たちが築き上げたキャリアに疑問を抱いてるのを知って不安になってたところにリストラの話が隠されてたことがわかって疑心暗鬼になり、さらに出来ちゃって動転したのとカーリーの最後の仕事を失敗させてしまった（と思いこんだ）ことで、カーリーの経歴に汚点がつくことと彼からの信頼を失うことに怯えて、自分が責任をとる+リーダーにふさわしいところを見せるためにやらかしちゃったのかな。

情緒不安定すぎる。（そしてべつにそれくらいで今さらカーリーは見棄てなかっただろうと思う）

リーダーとしての資質あるカーリーが、ジミーが情緒不安定で己に依存してること知らなかったはずがないので、だいぶ可哀想だけれど、カーリーは単なる被害者という感じもしてない。

少なくとも自分がリーダーとして功を成そうと思うなら、いくら有能でも自分に依存してる情緒不安定な人間はリスクなので仕事の相棒にはしないし、まして長年にわたって尻拭いしてまで依存を深めるように側においたりはしない。カーリーにとって、よきリーダーであるためには、不安定だからこそ執着して盲目的に尽くすジミーの存在が必要だったのかもしれないし、あながちジミーの勝手な妄想も嘘じゃないいびつな関係性が形成されてたんじゃないかと邪推している。(いびつな関係性なんてそこら中に転がってるし、閉鎖環境で制御不能に爆発したりしなければ大した問題じゃないけど)

ふたりの壮大なゴタゴタに巻き込まれたほかの人たちはただただかわいそう。みんな仕事に真面目でいい人たちでしたね。

好きなシーン： アーニャの静かな死。あてつけのようにカーリーの足元で死んでるのもいい。

全体的に、狂気とか運命とか神の目も届かないとか大きく喧伝されるけど、すごくこじんまりとした物語とそれぞれの感情をじっとり描いてて楽しかった。

ちょっとしたおまけ

仕事と労働にまつわる関係についての補足

ふたりの友情の結末のために失われたもの＝宇宙船１台と貨物+前途ある若者２名+熟練技術者１名+名もなき１名+カーリーの手足

もう苦しみは祈らない。

Because my last splatband was called "Mouthwash for Whales", I got an idea: what if the Tulpar crew from Mouthwashing were a Splatoon band?

I've decided they're a Muse-ish symphonic rock band called Plastic Windows (プラスチック窓).

CURLY カーリー

* Wandering albatross

* DJ

* 45 years old

* So much taller than his bandmates that he rarely notices their everyday troubles

* Injured his head while diving

* Rescued Jimmy from the streets of Splatsville

* Judging by the facts that there are still birds alive in Splatoon (only mammals are extinct), Crusty Sean the mutant shrimp serves regular shrimp (so a mutant animal doesn't replace its original counterpart), Tangle Feeder, a mutant seaweed plant, exists (that's more absurd than a bird-person), and the only criterion for something becoming a Splatoon-person is that it's an aquatic or marine lifeform, I imagine there are seagull-people and albatross-people in Splatoon's world, we just haven't seen any yet.

* I made him a bird because he flies the ship, and he overlooks an obvious problem.

* I made him the DJ or sound engineer because the DJ doesn't have much of an actively-performing role yet without them, the crew falls apart.

JIMMY ジミー

* Hedgehog seahorse

* Vocalist

* 29 years old

* Has a very prickly personality

* Joined a band because he was tired of his minimum-wage job as a postal worker

* Anya is terrified of his temper

* Never drinks alcohol

* I made him a hedgehog seahorse in reference to Pony Express and Polle (horses) but also his abrasive and spiky nature.

* I made him the vocalist because he thinks he's the centre of everything but can't actually play an instrument for shit.

ANYA アーニャ

* Giant manta ray

* Keyboardist

* 36 years old

* Gives the best hugs

* Abandoned a career in medicine for the band

* Currently pregnant with a pup

* Never open for interviews

* I made her a giant manta ray because manta rays are some of the only fish to give birth to live young, and also the most peaceful apex predators in the world, which reflects Anya's pregnancy and timid nature in Mouthwashing.

* I made her the keyboardist because she is the whole root of the conflict in Mouthwashing, and a keyboardist usually defines the sound of their band.

SWANSEA スウォンジー

* Goniobranchus kuniei sea slug

* Guitarist

* 55 years old

* Into mollusc-dad-rock

* Swears too much on live TV

* Hasn't seen his children for a long time

* I made him a sea slug because they get themselves drunk on sponge poison, like how Swansea is a relapsing alcoholic. This specific species of sea slug has a colour palette and shape matching Swansea's outfit and build.

* I made him the guitarist because a guitar is known as an "axe", and Swansea in Mouthwashing wields an axe.

DAISUKE 大介

* Slender rainbow sardine

* Tambourinist

* 17 years old

* Wants to be able use a DAW someday

* Has an intense feeling of claustrophobia at all times

* Joined the band after hearing Swansea's music in a Turf War

* Suffers from haemophilia

* I made him a slender rainbow sardine because he's colourful and childlike.

* I made him the tambourinist, because a tambourine is not a very important instrument but at least he's trying, like Daisuke being the engineering intern on the Tulpar.
