It’s rare for Concubine Gyokuyou to pout like this, and I thought it was very cute. Although she looks mature, she is still very young, around 20 years old. It’s only natural that she would be bored and want to hear about the incidents Maomao gets involved in.

Jinshi “Indeed. There once was someone eating matsutake with the doctor at the clinic. I hear the fruits from the orchard often go missing, too.”

松茸（まつたけ/Matsu-take）: Matsutake has a very fragrant aroma and is very expensive. I think, not only Maomao but anyone would pick and eat them if they knew the mushrooms growing in the garden were really matsutake. I love the animation of her tail swinging.

ばっちい(Bacchii): It means the same as 汚い(きたない/kitanai), but ばっちい is a kind of words for children use, and not used among grown-ups. That’s why Maomao’s next line is “ばっちい…”, that she wondered why Yinghua used that word.

Maomao “In the forest on the north side. The area wasn’t maintained, creating probably the best environment for this mushroom. It’s quite rare, and extremely dangerous. Ingesting only a piece is lethal, and it can cause harm just by touch―Please don’t move any closer. You’ll end up like Concubines Jin and Son, like this.”

I think this mushroom is カエンタケ(Kaen-take): Podostroma cornu-damae/Poison Fire Coral. I’ve heard of the news that there were some grown in Japan, but it’s quite rare.

But this phrase is a little bit formal, and not so often used in our daily conversations. It is used, for example, when there are no contradictions in the statements of the suspect in a case.

The thing I felt most watching this episode was how pitiful the court lady, Tao, was. I don’t know how Tao was involved in Concubine Jin’s death, but Concubine Jin is the root cause of all this. Whether in the past or now, if a person of high rank has a bad personality, it will cause suffering to those around them and those below them.

Maomao and Jinshi have become good co-workers. He was told about the secret of her bandaged arm, and there are also scenes where she is impressed by his work, so the distance between the two is gradually narrowing. I’m looking forward to seeing more stories to come.

Podostroma cornu-damae, known in Japan as カエンタケ (kaentake), is claimed by some to cause contact dermatitis upon handling, so "can't harm you just by touching them" has at least one possible exception (which you're not likely to encounter outside of the limited geographic range (Korea and Japan) of one very toxic mushroom).

As to "kicking them doesn't hurt them", consider an apple tree. Does picking the apples hurt the tree? No. The vast bulk of most mushrooms exists as webs of filamentous cells known as hyphae, which form a dense mat known as mycelium. This is the vegetative part of the fungus, while what we call mushrooms is only the fruiting body of the fungus. Some of these mycelial mats are tens of thousands of years old. While many fungi are decomposers, many more form mutualistic relationships with vascular plants (called mycorrhizae, meaning "fungus root"). The fungus provides the vascular plant with nutrients it would otherwise not be able to access, and the vascular plant gives the fungus access to sugars it cannot manufacture. It's believed that this relationship is among the most ancient of symbioses dating back at least 450 million years. Almost all vascular plants and definitely all of those used as food crops, form some sort of mycorrhizae. Fungi are a core part of the ecosystem planet-wide. So, not only a normal and beneficial part of the ecosystem but the very heart of the ecosystem.

Maybe it's a good time for a PSA that mold and fungi, provided they aren't growing inside your house, are a normal and beneficial part of the ecosystem, and most of them will not harm you

猛毒キノコ「カエンタケ」が、狭山丘陵の広がる埼玉県西部を中心に埼玉県内で相次いで見つかっている。触れると炎症を起こし、過去には食べた人の死亡例もある。自治体などは「絶対に触ったり、食べたりしないで」と注意を呼びかけている。（大須賀軒一） 　入間、所沢両市の同丘陵にある県立さいたま緑の森博物館では７月１７日、散策路近くで、巡回中の職員がこぶ���大のカエンタケを見つけた。穴を掘って埋めたが、２～３センチの小さなものや、７センチほどのものなどが次々と出現。職員は「過去にも確認例はあったようだが、こんなに出たのは初めて。出現は断続的に続いており、来園者の安全を考えて見つけ次第埋めている」と説明している。 　子どもや高齢者の入場も多い狭山市の智光山公園では８月下旬、ナラの切り株の近くで見つかった。管理事務所によると、確認例は初めて。園内にはこども動物園やキャンプ場があるため、手袋などで装備を固めた職員が回収して焼却した。

ドクツルタケはテングタケ科のキノコ。北半球に広く分布し、初夏から秋にかけての森林地帯の地上に生える。 その見た目はとても美しく可憐。 いっさいの穢れない純白の傘はまるで舞い降りた天使のようである。 実際に西洋では天使とよばれている。 ただし 死の天使 だが。 このドクツルタケこそあらゆる毒キノコの頂点に立つ世界最強の毒キノコである。 しかし最強とはいっても毒性の強さでは天然化学兵器カエンタケに劣り、中毒のエグさでいえばドクササコも中々のもの。 なのに何故ドクツルタケが最強の座に君臨するのか。 答えは簡単。 数ある毒キノコの中で最も 人類を殺してきたキノコだから 実のところカエンタケもドクササコも日本などの一部地域にしか生えていなかったりするし、カエンタケの場合キノコらしからぬ形状と色から食べようと思う人はそう居ないだろう。 それに対しドクツルタケは北半球に広く分布し、ちょっとした林さえあれば生える事ができる。 もし機会があるなら夏場、近くの雑木林でも散策してみよう。 さほど探さなくても見つかる場合も多い。 そのあまりにも身近すぎる事と、派手で見つけやすい形・色合いから間違って採取されやすい。 また味も美味しいとされているが、もちろん食べたらダメ。 同様に間違われて食べられやすく、致死性の高いキノコにシロタマゴテングタケとタマゴテングタケがあり、 この3つを合わせて猛毒キノコ御三家と称されている。 シロタマゴテングタケ共々、白いキノコは超危険なので素人は迂闊に採取して食べようとは思わないこと。 シロツルタケ（ドクツルタケと同じテングタケの一種）やハラタケ科（これも無害なのも有害なのもある）などの可食菌もあるが、白一色のキノコは警戒色と考える方が無難。 しかもこれらとは形も似ており、判別はかなり困難。 もっともタマゴテングタケの様なやや地味な色の毒キノコも多いので、生半可な知識だとキノコを採取して食べる事全般を止めた方が安全。 ドクツルタケの毒はピロトキシン、ファロトキシン、ベニテングタケやドクアジロガサにも含まれるアマトキシン類。 しかしその含有量は上記2つを遥かに凌駕している。 その致死量はたったの15ｇ。 一口で終わるカエンタケに比べれば火力に劣るがちょうどドクツルタケ一本分であるため口にすれば問答無用で死ぬ。 また死ぬかどうかはあくまでも人や状態次第でもあるため、一本分未満でも死ぬ可能性は十分ある。 中毒者の実に9割が助からないと表せばその恐ろしさが分かるだろうか。 中毒は食べてから6時間足らずで発症。キノコ中毒ではお馴染みの激しい嘔吐下痢に襲われその後… 治まってしまう …あっれ～？ そのため大体の人��ただ腹を下しただけだろうと深く気にせずそのままにしてしまう。 既に手遅れだとは気づくこともなく… ドクツルタケの毒はまだ猛威を失ってはおらず、人間が気づかぬ間に、少しずつ…少しずつ…体を蝕んでいくのである。 そして食べてから約一週間後。 第二波が襲いかかる この時にはもはや末期であり、 体の維持に必要なタンパク質の合成を阻害するアマトキシン類が体内に残留し続けたりした結果、 自覚症状が出ないまま内臓という内臓が壊死していくことで、肝臓が肥大したり腎臓が壊れたり胃腸が出血したり内臓がスポンジのようになるなどの症状が進行し、 限界を超えたら洗面器が一杯になるほどの真っ黒な血を吐いたりしながら死に至ると言われている。 この特徴的な遅効性の中毒を、ある者は「家族に別れを告げる猶予を与えているようだ」と語っている。 更に第二波の症状は内臓が破壊され尽くした後だけにかなりの苦しみであり、 ある中毒事例では母子でドクツルタケを口にし母が死亡。 子は症状が回復し一安心と母の葬式を準備している時に第二波が襲来した際に 「俺を助けてくれ！！」 と助けを何度も求め畳に爪を立ててのたうち回り部屋中を爪痕と血反吐まみれにしながら息絶えたなんて話もある。 その恐るべき所業はまさに吐き気を催す邪悪。 まあキノコ視点からすると勝手に抜かれ食べられたわけだから、邪悪と言うのも何か違うのは分かるのだが。 現状解毒方法もなく、早期の胃洗浄で全て吐き出させるぐらいの対処療法しかないのだが、 症状が出始めたら既にアウトなので、基本的に手遅れになるだろう。 その強い毒性ゆえに、採取のプロは如何なる理由があろうと素人による天然の白いキノコは絶対に食べない事と注意を促しているが、 繰り返しになるが、いつ如何なる理由があろうと素人は天然の全てのキノコに手を出してはいけないのが真の正解だろう。 半端な知識ほど恐ろしいものはないのだ。 また、自分一人で食べるならある種自己責任とも言えるが、販売・おすそ分けなどをする際には細心の注意を払うこと（特に知識者が間に入り辛いおすそ分け）。 キノコの研究者はどうか分からないが、キノコの販売業者においても判別を間違えた…なんて事例をちょくちょく見かける。 これはキノコだけでなくトリ���ブトのような野草やフグのような魚にも言える。 いずれも口にすれば手遅れな毒性が待ち受けるが、 口にしなければ 中毒にはならないのである 天然物が美味しいのは確かである。 だが天然物を食べるには確実な知識と自分の命に責任をもって食べることが大切なのだ。
