Alaska caught the glance between Thom and Neal–more so on Neal’s part, given Thoms’ tendency to avoid direct eye contact–and stepped between them. She crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head. Instead of a scowl, her expression softened. A gentle warning. A kind one; one she wasn’t inclined to give, considering their last two encountered. Thom was more than protected; he was loved. He wasn’t a pawn for Neal to try and manipulate.

Nox chuckled and wrapped an arm over the back of Eve’s shoulders. “You know I do,” he teased. He ducked his head to whisper something the rest couldn’t hear. “You picking up on these delicious sexual tension vibes, or is it just me?” What the hell was Pidge bringing a newcomer to the game now?

Nox grinned–a wolfish smile that caused the skin around his eyes to wrinkle. “Depends on how well you hold your liquor, mate,” he said. “We pour it heavy here. Come on. Second round on the loser. Hope you brought your wallet.” Nox gave a nod to Alaska, who remained with Thom a moment longer to review last minute details. She was a perfectionist with every con, and as much as they teased her for it, they appreciated the care she gave every case–the assurance that none of them got left behind. 

“So tell me,” Nox said, once they were out of Alaska’s earshot. “How’d you and dear Pidge meet?”

Despite the hard eyeroll, Eve leaned into Nox. It had taken her a while to warm up to how Nox was but he’d saved her ass and she’d saved his, she trusted him. “Mmmhmm,” she smirked a little nodded once to confirm he wasn’t the only one to pick up on it.

With a sly smirk, Neal winked in Alaska’s direction-- a bit of a cocky move but it felt right-- then followed Eve and Nox out. The question made Neal chuckle a little. “I was playin’ a little pool, sharking for cash and she came in just as some sirens went by. She tried to get me to bet all my winnings against her, we instead decided to tag team and double the money then split it.” He explained, “She might tell it differently.” She probably would.

That was the last thing she expected Shay to ask her. “I--Oh,” Eve paused considering the question. “Uh, sure, why not,” she shrugged. “As long as it’s not ‘A Christmas Story’, that movie sucks,” she stated her opinion like it was a known fact. “What do you want to watch?” she wasn’t sure how long she’d last into a Christmas movie, it wasn’t really her thing but she was really trying. This year was the first she’d really felt like trying to enjoy the holidays.

Harlow was sweet, sweeter than anyone and Eve had wondered for so long if the woman tasted as sweet as she acted. Damn right she did. Eve hummed a little just after her first lick, slow, pressing just hard enough as she gripped Harlow’s hips. She was addictive. Eve wanted to start slow but fuck it, what good would that do? Not holding back, Eve sucked Harlow’s clit between her lips then looked up to see the reaction she’d earned. Bet I could get you there before anyone was the wiser.” She really didn’t know why she was like this sometimes but once she got an idea in her head she couldn’t let it go. It was only ever trouble. In fact, this sort of mentality had ended up with her spending the night in a cell once or twice.

It was a story she really didn’t want to get into. “An old fight I got into,” she drawled. The scar was on her left side, a clean slash just above her hip. “My dad was so fucking pissed at me when he found out. That hospital bill I’m still tryin’ a pay,” she laughed it off hoping that would be the end of it.

Eve was always more brash and impulsive than hesitant so this was new. There was just something about Shay that made her pause. Why? Shay was different some how and she couldn’t put her finger on it. “You know,” Eve started. “I don’t want to say anything stupid or do anything dumb and scare you off, which isn’t usually something that I care about and I don’t know really know how I feel about that,” she explained and paused just for a moment to look Shay in the eyes before she leaned in and kissed her firmly, her fingers on the back of her date’s neck. She’d live with the consequences instead of any ‘what if’.

“What do I want?” No one had ever asked that, she wasn’t quite sure how to answer. “I dunno, maybe I just something stable...but maybe I’d hate it,” she squinted at the thought. “I just always fuck up whatever good I have by being myself. It’s not like I try to fuck it up it just happens. People leave and I know it’s me, like it can’t be them,” she chuckled. “I don’t know how to not be like this. I know it’s something I’ll always be struggling with so just some damn patience? I mean fuck it though, I don’t need someone but you did say want, and it’d be nice, you know?”
