I watched twilight for the first time and. Thoughts have happened, mostly about Carlisle because he’s my favourite

I think everyone in the Cullen family regresses, though at varying ages and frequencies.

Carlisle and Esme both caregive for their children and each other, but none of the others have any true inclination for caregiving. Within their pairs (Rosalie and Emmet, Alice and Jasper) they care for eachother in their own ways, but all of them are young/teenagers and bad at taking care of themselves, let alone each other, so adults are necessary.

Esme has an easier time regressing than Carlisle, who fears that everything will fall apart the moment he takes a break, and as such pushes himself to his breaking point regularly. Esme scolds him for it, but he hasn’t changed this particular bad habit yet.

Carlisle makes sure that his family have anything they could ever want or need, so every house they have is very well stocked with little supplies- pacifiers, stuffed animals, diapers, blankets, bottles- everything.

Carlisle is quite content to take care of his kids, regardless of age, and enjoys it truly. Esme as well, she likes mothering her children. The Cullen kids have mixed feelings about regression in general (which though happens in both humans and vampires, feels like something none of them would have done if Carlisle had not turned them.) but they tolerate Carlisle’s and Esme’s caregiving

Carlisle is the best out of all of them, at caregiving. He’s very good at multitasking, and where Esme may become overwhelmed if more than one of the children slips, Carlisle thrives. It doesn’t matter to him if it’s one or all of them, everyone gets taken care off and gets to feel much better by the end of it.

Despite his extraordinary caring abilities, Carlisle will avoid a caregiver at all costs during the times he regresses. He rarely regresses, and when he does, he never fully lets it happen and ends up in a weird between state when everything feels wrong. He knows that Esme, or even any of his children, would try- and likely succeed- to coax him into fully regressing, so he avoids them whenever he’s feeling slightly small.

On the occasions where he gets caught and ends up slipping all the way into that headspace, he is a very quiet little. He’d rather sit and observe than do anything, and he is absolutely terrified of doing anything wrong. He generally does not speak, and when he does it is in short clipped sentences and very soft.

Esme tries to get him to regress more frequently, or at least come out of his shell a bit, but Carlisle is steadfast in the idea that he needs to be the taker of care, not the taken, much to Esmes dismay.
